Wow.....I have used these guys a couple of times and....every time....they impress me. On time, prepared, no bull, fair rates......just very professional courteous guys. And, wonder of wonders, they took their shoes off before they came in the house.

A bunch of faucets quit working, and since the temperature had just dropped to 8 degrees, we figured they'd frozen. These folks picked up the phone at 9:30am on Christmas Eve and were here by 10:45. They inspected the pipes, found nothing was burst, charged an entirely reasonable service fee, and gave us a couple tips to help them warm up a bit more quickly.
Quick, easy, knowledgeable, and friendly. I'm calling them next time I have a problem.

My only interaction with Jayk's was via phone/email.
On a Friday morning I had a rush request for an estimate to finish a bathroom remodel plumbing job and sent a very detailed description of the job with pictures. He responded very quickly with a question which I answered. Given the fast response I thought I'd see an estimate within a few hours or at least the end of the day. Nothing. Given the time crunch I was under I contacted Jayk again that evening and was told he'd have something back probably by the next evening (Saturday). Nothing. Nothing the next day but I gave him the benefit of the doubt given it was the weekend. Monday morning still nothing so I called and had to leave a message. Interestingly he responded right away with an email with his rough estimate. It was evident he didn't even bother to carefully read the proposal I sent because his estimate was for the installation of one faucet and sink and the proposal clearly stated two.
I don't know if he just wasn't interested in the job or what the issue was but I wish he hadn't wasted my time waiting for his response. I'm very disappointed how this turned out because Jayk's reviews were very good. I don't like leaving negative reviews but as a business owner myself if I'm not treating a customer the way I would like to be treated then I have failed in my customer service and that's the core of my business.

This is an amendment to my above review. Jayk's called after my review posted apologizing saying that yes he had dropped the ball - however we still seem to be not quite on the same page. I believe the major problem here was his lack of follow-up and communication but he perceives it as more of a being very busy and struggling to keep up. I do believe Jayk's apology was sincere and I really hope something positive will come out of all this. I wish him the best of luck.

Here's a Thumbs Up for Chris and Carrboro Plumbing. In the course of waterproofing a portion of our foundation recently, we discovered that our main pipe leading to the sewer had been badly cracked by the stress of slowly shifting clay soils and masonry. Two of Chris' crew recognized that it was a high priority job and jumped on it immediately. They dedicated the better part of day replacing the pipe, and it was not a trivial job. My apologies to whoever had their work delayed to accommodate us. Emergency needs can happen to anyone, and it's important to recognize that good service demands sensible prioritization, which is why we were patient waiting for cosmetic repair to the concrete slab they had to cut through to reach the pipe. All done now. If I had three thumbs to offer, I'd raise them all in praise of Carrboro Plumbing.

I can't say enough good things about Brown Brothers. I had taken their quote in addition to quotes from two other local businesses. In the end, there wasn't a significant difference in price and financing options, but Shaun, the salesman I spoke to, was so honest and available (for followup calls) that I genuinely felt like I could reach him and get assistance quickly and easily.
The actual installation went so well. The workers were there on time (15 minutes early, even) and were very friendly, handling my obnoxious dog with grace. The part that most impressed me was the fact that they worked through a day of torrential rains, and despite the miserable environment were so attentive to detail that they covered their shoes every time they came in the house and left no trash at all.
I highly recommend Brown Brothers.

A leaking water heater just as the temperature drops.
Cold showers are great in the summer, but not so much on a fall or winter morning when the temperature outside is anything below forty.
I dodged a bullet. My water heater was leaking. I thought it just needed cleaning so I called CK's with a special coupon where they offered a water heater flush and a general check of the plumbing. I should have known it wouldn't be so simple. In fact, I knew the water heater was old and nearing the end of its useful life, so I wasn't surprised when I got the bad news. Still, I was hoping to squeak by for a while; but when I weighed the possible timing of not having hot water, there was no real decision.
Chris at CK's quoted a more than reasonable price and we agreed on a scheduled time. During the entire process of checking out the plumbing on the initial check, he was polite, straightforward, and cleaned up as he went from task to task. Along the way he noted things to be replaced immediately, others that could wait, and still other things that were fine.
The only negative was actually having him show up during the time we agreed for the water heater replacement. His earlier scheduled jobs ran over, and only after I called him, did he call back and give me an ETA. I appreciate the fact he's the owner and the repairman all in one, and stuff happens that can throw a schedule off; but as I have to schedule around my job for things like this, I do expect some simple courtesy. And when he forgot some of the parts for a couple of smaller repairs and had to come back again a couple of days later, well . . . .let's just say I understand . . . but it didn't thrill me. He did apologize for that, though. Sincerely, even.

When I called, they were able to schedule someone to work on my dryer very quickly. I asked about pricing structure, so I was not surprised when the bill provided. Was given a 2 hour window (better than 4 hours) for arrival. Job required ordering a part and return to install. Benjamin explained the needs and process. Repeat visit arrived right when he said he would. Willing to answer questions. Overall, very happy with the service and would use them again.

One worker was extremely rude/arrogant! Drug out the work to pad the bill, and took days to do, and we had to have the work re-done!
Two months later, and we still have a leaky faucet in 1 bathroom! Now, after 2 months, they have decided to send us another bill.....for work that their employee did wrong, and they had to re-do!!
RUN from this company......run fast!

Do NOT use. Technician came out and cleaned the end of the water main, but LEFT all of the sludge he pulled out on our grass and neighbors! Photo technician called and said he would arrive around 3:30PM. - 4PM or call if he was going to be late. Never showed up nor responded to text messages by 5PM.
Rescheduled with main office for Saturday 1-3PM. No one called or showed up. Called main office and was told technician had a family day AND said he talked to me and rescheduled for Monday President's Day. I never spoke with him AND did not plan to be home on President's Day. Cary/Raleigh NC offices.
