We recently purchased our home and had some questions about our drains and sewer line. Mike and Doug came out advised us on the cast iron pipe. We appreciated that they didn't immediately recommend replacing the pipe. We don't have backed up drains yet and since cast iron is pretty hardy, they recommended no major action at this time.

I have been using Brown Brothers for over 15 years. They installed an expensive one piece toilet that I had purchased from Ferguson, the cost was very reasonable considering the toilet weighed as much as a Suburu! Definitely a two man job BUT this plumber, and he was not a big guy, managed this on his own. They have been very responsive when I've called them to do the annual back flow test required by the city. In fact, I called, gave them the information and they were here the next morning.

Not even close to being on time. Won't be calling them again. And the dispatch lady was very rude.

I've used them twice and both times they've sent out great technicians. Both times the work was done without any issue. I definitely plan to use them again.

I called Brown Brothers on a weekend about a shower repair for which I wanted an estimate. They took my number and called back on Monday. The lady asked if I was a new customer, so I told her I wanted an estimate. She said she would turn me over to the estimating department. They never called. I went with Jayk's Plumbing instead and had a good experience. I can't say anything about their work. The stars are for calling back and being willing to help.

Michael and Shea did great work. They went out of their way to figure out exactly what I needed, then dit it quickly and cleanly. I'd recommend them to anyone with a need to install a new shower valve.

Since last year the charge for backflow winterizare increased 50 % one year to another one. It is a rip off.

Needed repiping done for townhome. Some neighbors recommended Brown Brothers. Techs came & completed job in one day. Cleaned up all their debris. Had to come back the following day to adjust the hot water. I'm very pleased I selected Brown Brothers & would recommend them.

Needed shower/bath valve repaired, but asked questions about disposal & sink drain-covers. Worker was efficient, affable, instructive, relaxed and helpful in every way. I haven't seen the bill yet.

Very prompt, professional and on time. Unlike A&L Plumbing that stood me up twice. TWICE did not show up for appointment and didn't bother to call or nothing. Yes I would recommend Brown Brothers! Reasonable rate also.

Brown Brothers helped relocate some water pipes in my garage to enable me to install a washer and ventless dryer. They did the job when others said it was impossible, charged me far less than another quote, and organized a plumbing inspection within days of the work being completed. they were at all times efficient and courteous. I will definitely be using them again.

They've been around for decades for a reason - a couple of weeks ago I was in Cuba where American cell phones do not work, and received a message at 3:00 pm from my tenants who were without heat during a freeze, originally sent hours before - Brown Brothers replaced several parts within hours! Several years ago another company told me that the entire HVAC system had to be replaced - called Brown Brothers and they fixed a minor freon leak, saving me many thousands of dollars!

Called for a backflow test. My house is by woods, and they saw some bees so they left and did not test the valve. But, they sent a failed inspection and charged me anyway! I called to rectify the issue but was told I need to restart the process and pay again! Unbelievable. Will never use Brown Brothers again. Interestingly I called another company to come do the inspection and it was finished passed within 2 hours. I can not imagine worse customer service, even after calling to fix the issue! Just so strange, since I had used them 3 years in a row I would have thought they would have some interest in keeping me as a customer rather than ripping me off once for $98

I'm not sure why the reviews have been so negative for this place. Brown Brothers was recommended to us by our landscaper who has worked with them for years. We found them to be honest, laid back, friendly and good at what they do. We had them and another popular-on-yelp plumber come out for estimates and the other place basically tried to fleece us for thousands of dollars worth of work in order to fix something that Brown Brothers fixed for about $200. We are having them come back out to fix some other stuff as well as service our HVAC. We are happy with their service and most of all, their honest, up front approach to addressing problems. We have plenty of plumbing work that needs to be done at our 80 year old house so treating us with respect and honesty just earned them a good bit of return business.

The Technicians are competent. However, establish a very clear understanding with the front office prior to your service call. You are likely to find yourself paying $150-200 per hour for their services.

We had Brown Brothers perform back-flow testing for us this time, everything went great , we were very pleased.
We have worked with Brown Brothers over the years with larger and medium sized jobs and they have been great each time.

We have had a septic company come out over 5 times and they have clarified our backup issue is not from the septic tank, it is the plumbing before the tank. The technician that came out from Brown Brothers did not want to hear about what we had already addressed. He did not listen to our concerns or the issues at hand. Seemed like he just did not want to be there or work on our issue. He refused to touch anything until he could confirm the level of our septic tank but said he had a torn rotator cuff and couldn't open the lid. My husband offered to do it and he refused. Extremely frustrating as we wanted to address that issue and now have to wait another day for someone else to come out. Won't be working with them again.

They came and solved the problem quickly. The agent was very professional and courteous. However, having said that, I agree with another review. They are expensive!! I'm on a fixed income and that bill has thrown my budget out of wack. This call was urgent, so I grabbed the 1st company I could get to come, however, I will not be calling them for anything that can wait until I can shop around. I felt like the people in the TV commercials that speak about choosing between medicine or food when trying to stretch their retirement income.

Kyle and Omario did a fantastic job finding and fixing our water leak. We had a new baseboard installed a couple of years ago, and a nail had pierced a supply line. (We will be installing a nail plate when the dry wall is repaired.)

It took the plumbers less than an hour to locate the leak and repair the pipe. They were both courteous and professional (and fully vaccinated). The repair charge was very fair.

I will definitely call them again for plumbing work.

I can't say enough good things about Brown Brothers. I had taken their quote in addition to quotes from two other local businesses. In the end, there wasn't a significant difference in price and financing options, but Shaun, the salesman I spoke to, was so honest and available (for followup calls) that I genuinely felt like I could reach him and get assistance quickly and easily.
The actual installation went so well. The workers were there on time (15 minutes early, even) and were very friendly, handling my obnoxious dog with grace. The part that most impressed me was the fact that they worked through a day of torrential rains, and despite the miserable environment were so attentive to detail that they covered their shoes every time they came in the house and left no trash at all.
I highly recommend Brown Brothers.

This is the most worthless company I have ever dealt with. I called once and talked to the secretary and gave her my information, and a week later I called and left a voicemail. They did not even do me the courtesy of returning the call.

Called in a furnace that stopped working. Technician arrived and very quickly diagnosed the issue. Repaired and tested within 30 minutes of arrival. I am very pleased. No upsell despite having a furnace that was more than 10 years beyond its normal lifespan.

BB installed 2 bathroom sink faucets and a shower faucet/head which we purchased. They showed up on time, installed all the fixtures and cleaned everything up. Price was in the same range as other plumber estimates. Would use B.B. again.

Strike two! Several years ago we needed to replace the commode in our master bathroom. We purchase it ourselves at Home Depot and based on a recommendation, had Brown Brothers come out to install it. It leaked and we had to have them come out again to fix it, meaning they didn't install it right in the first place. This year we called them to purchase two Toto commodes from them based on certain criteria and have them install it. I was told they would be at our home between 8:30 a.m. and 9. I called them at 10, they showed up at 10:40 and told me the toilets they had wouldn't fit. I told them I spoke with three people at the company and not one of them asked me how far from the wall our current toilets are (rough in). Isn't that their job to ask the right questions? Totally wasted my time. Taking my business elsewhere. Update: they just sent me an invoice for $97 for doing NOTHING at my house. You gotta be kidding me!

These guys installed my new furnace and AC in December. Told me to call them when it got warm and startup the ac. Probably a 10 minute call required.
Been calling for over 2 weeks.
Can't get a call back or a confirmed appointment. Only excuses.
Should have known better than to trust an Ontario company operating out here.

Had them come in for a simple bathroom repair and they left rusted toilet tank bolts in place, when I specifically asked for them to be removed and replaced. Had to call and have have them come back to finish the job right. They have a lot of good plumbers that we've gotten in the past, so maybe he was just a bad one this time.

Like other reviews on here, I had an experience where the tech did not show up on time (over an hour late). When asked why, I was told there was a company meeting earlier. Then why would they have scheduled my appointment at the same time? That was a ridiculous answer.

At the same appointment, we were told they would have to go out to get a part that they should have already had. A different tech had been to see us on an earlier date for the same issue and told us what needed to be done. This should have been conveyed to the tech that came out but for some reason it was not. When we received the bill, we found out that they charged us for the time they took to go out to get the part and come back when they should have had this part to begin with. It is not our fault that their techs do not communicate to each other and was the whole reason for the initial visit. I had to call and basically argue with the owner about the bill before he agreed to a lower amount due. We will not be using them again. Late, unprepared, overcharging us, and an owner who was argumentative. Bad business!

Can't say thanks enough! I was told to try brown brothers at Lowes when neither they nor Home Depot had the 1 1/2 poly pipe I was looking for to replace a line for my washer leach. They helped try and find the line and then advised me on how to replace it with a better, above code, replacement. Sold me the parts at less than Lowes prices and gave me PVC glue. Wow!

I have only had excellent service from Brown Brothers related to fixing and servicing my home AC. I have worked with them for several years now. Just a few days ago, an AC unit wasn't working, so I called in the morning and it was fixed by that evening! All this during the busy and hot season. Brown Brothers employees are professional, reliable, fair in price, and stand by their work. All in all, I have peace of mind working with them.

I recently had an unusual problem: I had a shower head with stripped threads, and when I called several plumbing shops nobody wanted to help. Most said they could send a service truck to try to fix it, which would have cost more than the shower head was worth. When I called Brown Brothers, I talked to Joseph in the parts department, and after telling him my problem he suggested I bring it for him to inspect. Joseph looked carefully and although he didn't have a tap to clean the threads, he offered to try using a brass nipple to see if that would do the job, which it did! He could not have been any nicer about this, and he even declined payment for his service. Thank you, Joseph, and thank you Brown Brothers for such great employees!

BB has handled my plumbing services for 20+ years and I never had any complaints until now. Because I was an established, paying immediately customer, they always came when called. I, too, thought they were expensive but consoled myself in knowing that a big company with their overhead, etc., will charge more than an independent plumber. My most recent experience was when I called to have an under house sump pump fixed to pump water away from the house (I won't go into details as to why the water was pumping under the house). I have a wrap-around deck and the plumber extended PCV pipe which caused the water to pump out under the deck where it immediately ran back under the house so that the pump was doing double duty and the water was just going back and forth.
I called and requested that the plumber come out while this was happening so he just extended the PCV pipe out to the fence and then down beside the fence and told me it needed to be buried to prevent freezing and this would be expensive and he would get back with some figures. He never called or returned. I had told the office I wasn't paying the bill $152.00 ($14 for pipe, and rest for labor) until the job was completed. I received another bill with a late charge added. I sent in a check but noted I wasn't paying the late charge since the job still had not been completed. I have decided to go in another direction with a different plumber. I have given them 3 stars for past service but on this current job would give no stars.

Punch line: good service, but expensive. A few months back we called B&B to take care of a problem which was apparently related to excessive pressure in our water system. They fixed two toilets and replaced this thingy which apparently regulates pressure. The problem was solved, and it took them maybe 2 hours to fix it. We were billed ~500 USD. More recently we called again because a similar problem re-surfaced, but apparently it was just the flapper in one toilet that needed replacement. Flapped replaced, total perhaps 30 minutes, we were billed 107 USD. The problem has not disappeared.
It was our realtor who suggested their name to us, BUT warned us they were on the expensive side. She was right! On the other hand, they always handled our calls very professionally and showed up on time. This time around actually they were supposed to show up on day X but then called us one day before to see if we were in, and this worked for us.
So, our opinion is that these guys are excellent professionals, but they are expensive.
