Not surprised that this business has only 5-star ratings.  Our neighborhood listserve recommended them highly and we were not disappointed.  They fixed two issues that stumped our handyman--who was duly impressed.  (and our handyman is not easy to stump or impress).

Thanks Carrboro Plumbing!!

Hired to install a toilet. Tech was nice. Professional. Got the job done in a reasonable time frame. Toilet works and looks great. On my way to water saving.

We strongly recommend Carrboro Plumbing. We used to rent a house with many (many!) plumbing problems. Carrboro Plumbing came out and dug up the yard on a 100 degree day to find a broken pipe. They came over on a few minutes notice when the kitchen flooded, and we had a 3 week old baby and no running water. They were fast, friendly, and did a great job on all of their repairs. We have them on speed-dial now that we have moved and highly recommend them to anyone looking for an excellent plumbing company. Great job!

We first used Carrboro Plumbing when we moved into the area three years ago. We were renters, and so didn't have a choice as to who our landlord wanted to use. But we quickly figured out why he chose them. CP fixed our problem that day really quickly, and the gentleman was so nice and informative about how to avoid the issue in the future. When we bought a place the following year, we chose them to do all of our work. Every time they came to our condo, they were so polite and helpful. When we needed a new hot water heater to fit in a tight space, the owner Chris sought out a special one that could fit in a very tight space. The prices are fair, and I'm just floored by the professionalism across the board. Nice to have such a great company around.

I realize everyone is busy but called today for an emergency situation and their voicemail says to leave a MSG but their next available appt is in 14 days.  I like to support small locally owned businesses but for emergency situations, look for help somewhere else.

I can't speak for all of their staff, but the employee who was sent to our house was incompetent.

I called for a shower handle being too loose. While he was there, I asked about how to find a shower drain cover that would actually fit instead of the weird one we inherited when we bought the house. He adjusted the shower handle, and then said he was going to go out and locate a drain cover that would fit the shower drain. He had also removed the top part of the shower drain so that he could find a correct size cover. He disappeared for 3 HOURS. He was gone so long that I attempted to call the business to say something, but noone picked up the phone so I didn't leave a message. The employee did return with a drain cover that he said he got from a big box store. We live in the middle of southwest Durham, so stores are very close by. He mentioned also going to a local plumbing supply company, but neither of these sides trips would have taken 3 hours.

After a couple of weeks, the shower handle again became extremely loose. I called the business back and they sent a different plumber out who correctly fixed the handle.

Flash forward four months, and the ceiling directly under the shower started to get a water spot on it. I called the company back and stated that the shower drain had been messed with during a previous visit. I was not sure if there was a leak coming from the drain, but could they send a different person out to look at this (since it seemed that the first person did not replace the drain correctly). I was refused that request and was told the original employee who came out was the one who covered my area, and he would be the person coming. He came out and said that the leak was a result of the prior work he had done. He had unscrewed the shower drain and not sealed it properly. He then fixed it.

The business was kind enough to not charge for this fix of the leak from the drain and they also sent a different person to fix the ceiling drywall that had to be cut out. The person doing the drywall repair did a good job but it was hard to get him to come out to finish up the work. I called him the same day as the drain repair. The first visit to assess the job couldn't be scheduled until a month later. The visit for the drywall repair was pretty quick, but I couldn't get him to come back for a month after that for the painting (I felt like I had to pester him to finish the job).

Flash forward to now and guess what?? There, AGAIN, is another wet spot on the ceiling underneath the shower. This is now 2 years later, and I do not expect this business to accept responsibility from work 2 years ago. But NOTHING else has happened with this drain. It is clearly from the previous work done.

I am so angry that I completely give up on this company. I have called someone else, who looked at the drain and did verify that it was not sealed properly.

Couldn't be more satisfied with Carrboro Plumbing. I needed old pipes replaced behind a vanity that other plumbers couldn't or wouldn't remove without me also hiring a handyman. After not one but two false starts with the renters of the house, they still showed up on time and did the work, at a price that I was shocked by (in a good way). They were always courteous and friendly over the phone and were a pleasure to work with. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Chris has done two separate jobs for us. We think he's the best plumber in the area.

Carrboro Plumbing is in demand so be prepared to wait for them to get to you.

Highly recommended.

The old building my office was located in had some serious sewage gas problems.  I called Carrboro Plumbing on a referral and they installed a Studor vent on an incorrectly installed sink vent line.  That solved the problem and Carrboro Plumbing has been my first call for all plumbing needs since that day.

Recently,  they did all the plumbing work on a bathroom renovation project at my house.  They did excellent work and solved a leak issue that I hadn't been able to figure out.

Service was prompt and successful. Our technician fixed the problem and explained it to me, while also breaking down the cost which was more than fair, and less than I anticipated. I haven't had great luck with companies working on the house in terms of technician friendliness and willingness to explain, but I can now, with confidence, say that Carrboro Plumbing is unlike others in this regard.

Additionally, they arrived within the service window, and incredibly to close when I said I'd be able to be home.

Recently needed a plumber after moving here last year. Luckily for us our real estate agent highly recommended Carrboro Plumbing. They were the first and only plumber we called. We were very impressed during our initial call. Our issue was not an emergency so we were booked for a service call 2 days later. They were very professional, prompt, very competent, explained things, taught us things, and gave us choices to save us money. To top it off the bill was much lower than we expected. My husband even pointed that out to the plumber who said he hears that a lot! We will certainly call them again when we need a plumber. Highly recommend.

After another local company (highly reviewed) told us our dishwasher install would cost FOUR HUNDRED dollars so we called Carrboro Plumbing. I'm happy we did. They were friendly, easy to schedule, and showed up at exactly the start of the time window they gave us. Our plumber did a great job and even hauled away the old dishwasher for about $230. Very pleased. If you want affordable professional service call Carrboro Plumbing.

Courteous on the phone when I set up the appointment. Sent email to confirm, with very transparent pricing.  Followed up before arriving; called in advance.  Prompt, on time arrival; courteous, clean, professional.   I had a difficult plumbing problem to troubleshoot; they took extra time, tried out several solutions and eventually found/resolved the issue.  Then, invoiced me only for the solution which worked, did not charge the extra time or parts for troubleshooting!  I found that very professional, exceeded my expectations.    Great job, guys.. I will use you again and will recommend you to all my friends.

Here's a Thumbs Up for Chris and Carrboro Plumbing.  In the course of waterproofing a portion of our foundation recently, we discovered that our main pipe leading to the sewer had been badly cracked by the stress of slowly shifting clay soils and masonry.  Two of Chris' crew recognized that it was a high priority job and jumped on it immediately.  They dedicated the better part of day replacing the pipe, and it was not a trivial job.  My apologies to whoever had their work delayed to accommodate us.  Emergency needs can happen to anyone, and it's important to recognize that good service demands sensible prioritization, which is why we were patient waiting for cosmetic repair to the concrete slab they had to cut through to reach the pipe.  All done now.  If I had three thumbs to offer, I'd raise them all in praise of Carrboro Plumbing.

Now, on the other hand, A&E Factory Service is the anti-Christ of appliance repair.  I could write a book about them that would scare Stephen King.

Its very hard to rate a plumber since there is the cost, the timeliness, the quality of the work, and the interaction.  Carrboro is not cheap at $156/hour.  My major complaint is that they bill the same hourly rate regardless of the skill level of the plumber.  We had some work done that was good, but our latest (and last) job was unsatisfactory.

We had a washer box replaced (easy job in a large laundry room).  The box is located on an outside wall.  Due to the configuration of the new box, the water lines needed to be moved a bit.  The initial plumber used 4 elbows for the hot and 2 for the cold, which adds considerable friction and lower water pressure.  The new hot line was pushed up against the siding of the house (so no insulation between the wood siding and the pipe), and would surely freeze in the winter.  The work took hours, and we were billed accordingly.

I requested that the work be done again to get the hot water pipe back inside the center of the stud bay.  Jeff took care of the re-work, eliminating all of the elbows,  and was done in under 40 minutes including clean-up and test.

Jeff was great; pleasant to talk to and efficient.

Carrboro plumbing did not want to negotiate the final invoice, and subsequently decided not to work with us again.

I advise caution before hiring them and make sure that you only use one of their master plumbers if you want the work done right the first time and on budget.

Chris came out on an emergency and was amazing!  He and his team stayed until a major problem was resolved and they fixed it completely even though it was complicated.  Could not have been more professional or any better.  Highly recommend them!
