Best Leak Detection in Washington DC
disclaimer we didn't use them for work. However, we did get an estimate from them for the work we needed. first of all the person who came to the house was there for literally 3-5 minutes. Then the estimate that we recieved included details that didn't seem to pertain to our particular project- perhaps they have a copy/paste for similar projects? finally the estimate that we got was more than 3 TIMES that of other similar estimates.
Maybe they didn't want to work with us? maybe they didn't want the project but to be honest I would rather have them tell me that then send me an outrageous quote for the work. We have since had the work completed for much much less and it was phenomenal! you can find my review on the plumber we chose on yelp and google.

Twice I've had issues with the sole toilet in my apartment and twice W.L. Staton has come out and saved the day. This most recent time they came out 20 minutes after I called and were very professional, fast and efficient in fixing the problem. The cost was very reasonable and I would not hesitate to call them again if I had any other plumbing related issue.

Needed a plumber on short notice and the gentleman who came out could not have been more help in diagnosing and advising next steps. I did not get work done by them yet since I need to fix a related issue first but I will definitely call them back.

(5 stars for the technicians, but I took off a star for a scheduling snafu). Our air conditioner stopped working the other weekend, so I got some estimates through Yelp. This company responded right away, provided an upfront cost estimate and said they could send techs the next day, so I went with them. I was told the repairmen would be at my place between 8:00 a.m. - Noon the next morning.
By noon, when no one had showed up yet, I called and spoke to Sean, and he was honest and admitted that he had forgotten to schedule my job. He then pulled techs off another job and they were at my place within a half hour. I understand that things happen, and I appreciate Sean's honesty, but I still woke up early and waited for more than 4 hours for a technician to show up. I had scheduled for the morning because my house cleaners were coming in the afternoon, and I was really hoping to avoid having the cleaning people and the AC repair folks at my place at the same time. Of course they arrived within minutes of each other and I had 2 repairmen and 3 cleaning people in my two bedroom apartment with no AC. Thankfully everyone involved was very understanding about the situation.
The techs were excellent! They were very friendly, professional and efficient, and were able to diagnose the issue almost immediately. Our AC was working again within about a half hour of their arrival. They also did a full check of the system, replaced the filter and provided recommendations for maintenance and upkeep. It was really reasonable, too. I received a $10 off discount on the visit by booking through Yelp. All in all I was very satisfied with my experience despite the scheduling mix up.

Quick and accommodating. Recognized issues and new how to resolve them. Great value.

Great service, came on time. Very reliable. Didn't overcharged us and very reasonable price. Will hire them again if we have any other issues. Thank you!

Hired this company for some simple toilet installations. They do what you ask and advise you on critical changes that could save you in the long term. They are pretty expensive but they will do the job correctly and efficiently. Given the shortage of skilled labor (like plumbers) since Covid 19 they are probably just doing what they need to keep talent.

I reached out to Bob and Kur plumbing Sunday evening not expecting to hear back until Monday. They got in touch with me in a timely manner, helped me work through my options to get my plumbing issue fixed, and were able to schedule me in first thing Monday morning. Mehran was extremely professional and was able to resolve my plumbing issues right away. Would recommend Bob and Kur Plumbing.

After our roof started leaking, we called several plumbers, and none was willing to come by as quickly as Carlton. Once he came, he spent his time crawling around our attic figuring out what the problem was. While it turned out not to be a plumbing problem, Carlton helped us pinpoint where our roof was leaking and sent us photos to help us with our next steps. He also quickly figured out a leak problem with our kitchen sink. He did this all very professionally and for a very reasonable price. If we ever have more plumbing problems, we'll be sure to reach out to him.

Heil Plumbing was recommended by the company that installed our water heater. Was having an issue of the burner and flame not working correctly. Was able to have it looked at the day I called for help. Eric arrived early, was very professional, and was thorough in considering the cause and explaining the service work. When he left the work area was spotless. Customer service from the first phone contact with the office through receipt of the invoice was outstanding. This is a third generation local business, a gem!

Responsive and clear communication, professional service, competitive pricing. They installed 2 new toilets, removed the old ones removed, fixed a gasket on my dryer, and adjusted the tub drain. Great experience and highly recommend.

We are in the midst of remodeling an office space. We have plumbing fixtures that we were not going to use for the business at all. DJ came out gave us an estimate of the work we needed to be done. He was prompt and very professional. He gave us options on what we could do to save us money. Which was a bonus for us since we are a new business trying to get up and running and on a tight budget. DJ came out the next day and did an excellent job on the plumbing work that we needed done. We would definitely use him again and would recommend him to our friends and family.

Stay away! This project has caused us nothing but stress and work!
We were given a time estimate of 3 days for replacing the ceiling on our main level and installing 8 recessed lights. When we noticed that workers did not make use of any tarp or drop cloths, or care when working in our home, we were annoyed. When the work took 5 full days instead of 3 we were frustrated but understood. Sometimes something turns out to be more work than initially thought - it happens. We were so desperate to get our home back that we even ended up helping the workers paint & clean, just so we could start the process of moving back upstairs into our main level.
When we fully inspected the work the next day in daylight we realized that it was a mess! The ceiling was uneven, full of dents and craters. The work around the recessed lights was messy and just plain ugly. Our hardwood floor was still covered in paint, some of the baseboards damaged and a wooden beam dividing our living space, covered in paint and scratched.
I mentioned all our concerns to Clay when he stopped by a few days later to change out some light switches. He ensured me everything would be taken care of and fixed. We agreed Gabriel, his worker who did the majority of the work, would stop by the following weekend to fix any spots that needed more work.
Gabriel did in fact stop by 2 more times, again plastering, sanding and painting without the use of any tarp or drop cloths (we provided our own this time but paint still got on our rugs and floors). In an attempt to fix some of the damaged spots on our wall he used our wall paint we had sitting on the counter, which was glossy paint for the kitchen, on our living room walls which used matte paint. Leaving us the having to repaint the entire living room. The ceiling was still uneven, a light fixture in our hallway covered in paint, and the recess lighting still messy. Our house was yet again completely covered in dust, paint and plaster and we were still living in our basement.
After 5 full days of work and 2 extra evening visits, we were still extremely unhappy with the work and the care (or lack thereof) taken in our home.
I contacted Clay and told him that we were very frustrated mostly as an FYI but also declined having Gabriel come to our home again since we already knew it would end up in more damage than progress. We decided to fix any issues ourself since we just wanted our home back. Clay apparently took this as an opportunity to reveal his anger issues and accused us of not paying (I personally paid the amount in full 1 week prior with him standing across the room) and threatened to put a lien on our home and that we would hear from his attorney. He then said that it was not fair to complain without giving him the chance to fix any outstanding issues with their work. But after 7 days of work when 3 days were promised, we felt we had given more than a fair chance to make things right.
Overall a bad experience with this company. We had been very accommodating with the work taking much longer than promised, the mess in our home and paid in full before work was finished.
Unprofessional, rude, careless and no attention to detail. Will definitely never use again or recommend to anyone. Stay away!

We needed our garbage disposal replaced. Mathew responded quickly and was willing to work with us on the price! Out of the five local companies we quoted his price was the best! He kept us apprised on his arrival time and finished the job quickly and professionally. We will definitely be using him for all future jobs!!!!

Prompt - I received a response within minutes of requesting a quote for service. Once I called him directly, Jorge arrived the same day to look at and fix the problem.
Clean - he had shoe covers and put them on without my having to ask him. I hate to ask, and I'm glad I didn't have to. He left the work area nice & clean. He even picked up some leaves that he had accidentally tracked in.
Informative - he listened to my explanation of the problem on the phone, told me what the problem could be. As it turned out, the problem was the initial installation and hard water issues.
Follow-up - after he was done, he made sure I could get the shower switch work. Sure, he had tested it himself, but he made sure I could turn the switch. For whatever reason, the switch on this particular model is a bit finnicky.
Fee - there's a $45 service fee (come out to assess the problem) which is applied to the cost of the repair. He was here for ~ 45 minutes. The cost to identify and resolve the problems (no cold water - installation issue; tub-shower switch stuck - hard water build-up) was $135.
For all of the above reasons, I would definitely call on Drain Works again for my plumbing issues. Thanks, Jorge!

I was reading the reviews and I felt bad because I have not left a review on Yelp for this amazing company! The first of my problems began years ago, with almost quarterly visits from Baltimore County to clear my sewer to stop the line from backing up into my basement. One day, they told me it was clear at the street (shudder). I did research and found All Nite and Kirk came out the next day, I was back in operation after an hour (it was Christmas-time!). A few more rounds, and Kirk told me that I really needed to have the main sewer line replaced. Very reasonably priced and once all components were scheduled, it took him just one-day to get everything done! Fast-forward years and the same thing started again. Baltimore County kept saying it was not them and Kirk went toe-to-toe with them and he and a manager came out together with a drain camera. Turns out, there was 10 feet more that I had to replace, but that was also awesome, to find the answers! He and his team have replaced faucets, installed a new laundry tub, installed a new gas oven and identified (and fixed) my families very long hair in the basement shower P-trap, that keep my home flushing strong! Highly responsive, honest, very clean (you would never know they were there!) and I could not recommend them any higher.

I received services from Sila a few months ago, so this review is late. Sila is a good reason why I only deal with small, independently-owned HVAC repair/installation companies for maintenance. I inherited a Sila HVAC maintenance contract from the previous owner so I gave them a chance. The tech's service was rather unsatisfactory. He turned on the boiler to the radiator system, and when he heard a loud noise coming from it, he automatically declared that the system was broken and left. I told him that the system needed water which included bleeding all the radiators in my house. He refused, so I asked him to at least clean the grates in the boiler. He told me that it was not worth cleaning a boiler that was broken and said that someone from Sila will call me with a quote for a new system. When he left, I simply turned on the water, filled the system, bled the radiators, and it was working great. The next day, I received a call from someone from the sales dept and he gave me a quote for 10k! The follow-ups were relentless. I must've received an email every other day until I politely told the salesman that I won't be working with Sila. Sila is a well-oiled machine. I heard that they are great when installing brand new systems, (you'll pay though), but they are not the company to call to maintain or fix your system. Their techs are on a tight schedule and if they can't service a system in the allotted time, they just move on to the next customer who is in the queue. If they could provide more attention to customers and do problem-solving before pushing them to buy a new system, they would be great.

We've used Snell for a few years and previously had good experiences with them. I recently contacted them for an estimate to replace my AC system and was subjected to high-pressure sales tactics by the salesman they sent to do the estimate. He quoted an extremely high price and then offered to reduce the price by more than $2000 if I agreed to have the job done the next day, citing idle crews as the reason for this generosity on their part. Plus, I never received the email proposal he promised me. Needless to say I am using another contractor. They are rated 5 stars and will do the job for $500 LESS than the Snell must act today $2000 discount offer -- and are installing a better AC unit to boot. Very disappointing Snell!

Our water heater broke on a Saturday and at the suggestion of a neighbor, we called Thomas E Clark Plumbing. From beginning to end, the replacement of the water heater was seamless. The plumber, Raphael, and his helper showed up on time and immediately explained the process to us.
They were knowledgeable, professional, careful and very neat in replacing the water heater. And given that it was a Saturday and COVID, we were delighted that they had the water heater in stock! We could not have been more pleased with the process, from beginning to end!
