Best Thermostat Repair in Austin TX

Recently returned from a trip to find our A/C not working so I called Stan's Heating & A/C who had been servicing the unit as part of their Gold Service Club plan for several years (more on that in a moment). On a recommendation I also called Daniel Silva, Silva A/C & Heating, and his quote for exactly the same coil replacement was considerably better. Perhaps the difference was that Stan's representative indicated that it would take 2 men 4 hours but Daniel completed the work alone in about 2 hours. Makes me wonder if either Stan is padding the hours or his folks need more training. Daniel was prompt, efficient and I would highly recommend him. Back to Stan's Gold Service Club. One of the advantages they advertise is: Additional benefits include a 15% discount on heating and cooling repairs. After speaking with Stan's representative I came to understand how little I know about maintaining your A/C unit. Apparently if your A/C stops working because the coil has a leak, what they do to fix it is not considered a repair. No repair equals no discount. Sure glad I joined that club.

This review is long over due, Jared(I believe is the tech that helped me) was informative, positive and welcoming. Jared didn't mind me asking questions, walking around with him and he kept me informed with what he was doing. My condensation line was clogged and he quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue. Jared also gave me tips on preventative maintenance. Honest A/C will continue to receive my business as well as referrals.

It's incredibly shameful when a company takes advantage of someone who is dealing with a crisis in their home. It didn't start out that way, their office staff was fantastic and very helpful however when the technician showed up to my house he had the audacity to walk up to my home while I'm in full panic mode about a broken hot water heater, handing me a $4000 estimate. I almost fell over in complete shock!  I do not live in a million dollar home, I live in a small three bedroom in South Austin and clearly not rolling in the dough!  After the initial shock, he told me he can rework the estimate.  While he worked on the estimate, I went in the house and got a hold of an amazing and reputable plumber who did not take advantage of me and in fact was fair priced and incredibly kind in my panicked situation.  

What I learned later is that all of these employees get paid on commission as well as a base salary. They are clearly not in the business of helping you through a crisis, but to pad their paycheck. Shame on you Daniel's plumbing for trying to rip people off just to make a few extra dollars!

My 20 year old HVAC unit has been crippling along since last summer. After a couple of freon recharges and band-aids to keep it moving, I decided to bite the bullet and replace it. I did my homework and had about 5 bids to replace both the inside and outside unit.

Matthew came to my house and talked to me about my options for replacement. He was prompt, professional, responsive, informative and genuine. Matthew explained everything in a way I could understand. I didn't decide to go with Fox right away. He checked in on me without pressuring me to go with their company. I can't say enough good things about his service.

Installation day - Kelvin and Manny showed up on time. They were respectful (my install was in the midst of COVID-19), wore their masks, prompt and did an excellent job on the install. Lastly, I had spray insulation added to my attic. Glass and Angel were the installers. They too were prompt, professional, friendly and did a very nice job with the spray installation. Both crews seemed to be happy with their jobs and enjoy what they were doing. Matthew even sent a pizza for lunch to one of the crews and they were very grateful for that!

Overall my experience with Fox was EXCELLENT! They were not the least expensive of the bids but their price was competitive. I love that they handled the Lennox rebates (which I waited to do this review until I received it) and also took care of the COA rebate process. I felt they did an honest job with professional from start to finish. This was a big home investment for me so I wanted to make sure I went for quality and not for some fly by night company that might not last the 10 years to follow through with the warranty work. In this case, I feel I got what I paid for and I am extremely satisfied and grateful for their service!

Junior and James came out and installed a new AC. They did a great job. Answered all my questions and cleaned up afterwards.

Way overpriced. WAY over priced. I'll say it again WAY OVER PRICED! I had a two technicians for 45 minutes look at the breaker for my utility room and outdoor electric. They changed nothing, they fixed nothing, the LOOKED at it. It cost $470!! Nothing was done. They do flat fees, so you get charged no matter what they do. Ridiculous. My house is in the same condition it was before they came, yet I was charged almost $500. I called and talked to someone who dropped the price (supposedly, I haven't seen a refund) to $350. But still. $350 for 45 minutes of looking at my electric to deduce it wasn't worth working on. Come on. Ridiculous. I will never use them again and will vehemently not recommend them to anyone. Find someone who will come tell you the problem for a small service fee and THEN charge you for actual WORK.

Chris Taylor was my plumber. He was very helpful and professional. He fixed my toilet and explained what he was doing every step of the way.The price was reasonable.He also educated me on several other options for my home . i would definitely use him again.

Billie with the HVAC department came out and fixed another companies mistake within the same day!  I'm very impressed with their service and responsiveness.

We called Lantz after an outside faucet was broken and leaking.  Dale was here at 5 o'clock and on time.  We was courteous, professional and even winterized the faucet for free.  I would highly recommend Lantz Lakeside Plumbing! Lori Cook

My dishwasher was leaking from the front door and I called 1st plumbing to ask if they could make sure it wasn't a clogged pipe or something.  It was a Saturday and Justin came within 45 minutes.  It wasn't a clogged pipe but the gasket on the front door of the dishwasher had eroded.  He charged me the $100 for coming on a Saturday, which I had been told in advance, and even though he worked for about 30 minutes there was no additional charge.  I will be calling 1st Plumbing for all my plumbing needs in the future.  Fast, courteous, transparent with regard to fees, and a very professional person in Justin.

I only hired TACPS once for a small shower handle cartridge replacement at a rental home. They were able to come out same day and were on time. Easy to work with, I haven't been to the home since but was told the problem is fixed. Not a bad experience, but I wouldn't call them again for this type of job. I asked for a quote over the phone, and was told the technician needs to see the problem in person, which is completely acceptable. I was also told there would be no service fee for this, which is why I scheduled with TACPS as opposed to other plumbers I called. The reason I deducted stars is, once the appointment was scheduled with the tenant and the tech was there, I was advised that the hourly rate for the first hour was $100 MORE than the regular hourly rate. This seems a lot like a service fee (and a high one) in disguise - especially for a 1 hour repair. Transparency is one of the most important factors to me when working with contractors, and in my opinion if these hourly rates are fixed a company could be clear and upfront about them before scheduling. I have never experienced a plumber charging more for the first hour, I don't think it's common practice, so this seemed like a curveball. At that point, everything was already coordinated with the tenant, and I didn't want to use more of our time on rescheduling with someone else. It was a quick fix, but in retrospect I could have gone with another hourly plumber and saved some money. I am thankful for the work and promptness.

*** Update: I received a follow up call from Martin, asking about my experience, elaborating on hourly the fee and making sure I understood their process. I appreciate the quick response, and willingness to take that time to go over everything with me, especially considering the small size of my project. His call made this company stand out to me, I haven't experienced many companies following up after a job is complete and I truly appreciate it. Also, I failed to mention previously that the tech explained to the tenant best ways to avoid a similar issue in the future -
which is fantastic. Thanks!

Left 4 messages for Aaron the service manager.... No follow up no phone call.... They talk a good game regarding service but can't seem to follow up to a service call...

I Don`t understand why your Company Don`t Honor the Rescue Club Membership, The members are suppose to Have 24 hours response time
for their need`s ? I had a problem with My A/C unit on Friday evening, I explained the Young lady on the Phone that My Husband is a Heart problem that needs to stay cool and she told me that she would make sure to Note that on the service call, I had to call back on Saturday Morning and spoke to another young Lady about the same, But this Young Lady told me it would not be until Monday Afternoon before anyone would come out! Why do I pay to have the Rescue Club, it`s suppose to be 24 Hour turnaround time!!! I am not very happy with the service , that your People do not take a Medical Urgency Important!! I would like an Explanation from your office Manager or the Owner!! I have told Family and Friend`s not to use your Company for their A/C problems or anything else, I have also notice I received a text that My membership is coming up for Renewal soon!!! I have been a Member for many year`s and this is how you treat customers, Wow!!!!!

Jason came out to give an estimate to repair our furnace.  He gave a band-aid option vs replacement.  We informed him we would be getting one more quote but would let him know.  Next company came out and immediately we realized that Jason had left the entire furnace pulled apart, had cut the wires in our circuit board, had cut wires to the thermostat control and cut the wires to our safety switch.  Not only could the furnace not be used but neither could the AC until either we paid to re-wire the components or had to replace the entire unit.  We called and left messages for his supervisor Jacob, but he never called us back.  Be very careful if you call this company out.  Do NOT leave them unattended around your equipment or make sure to take before pictures and inspect the area carefully before you leave them drive away.
