Jackson from Goettl  did my Spring check up.  He was very through.  I had been unable to use my thermostat and he found several reasons for it malfunctioning and fixed them all.  I appreciate his work ethic.

We received nothing but excellent, high quality service from Goettl Air Conditioning and Plumbing. Our 20 year old a/c unit had to go, and Joshua was able to expertly explain to us why and the value in replacing it. They apprised us of our options and helped us decide. They even came out on a Sunday, the very next day after I called. Goettl was recommended by our next door neighbors.

After we selected our Goodman unit, Juan and Carlos came the next day to install it and did a perfect job. The work took 5-6 hours, and they worked diligently and like experienced professionals. The air is blowing cold now and we are feeling secure with our 5 year warranty on the model. I enthusiastically recommend the professionals at Goettl Air Conditioning and Plumbing!

If Goettl tries to pull the 'cracked heat exchange / carbon monoxide' tactic on you, get a second opinion.
(CO can be dangerous, so be smart - but don't trust Goettl's word on it)

Our heater is running great and its only 6 years old. Tech says he's getting a carbon monoxide level in the duct of 9ppm and inside the house of 2ppm (even though I watched his detector inside my house for 10 minutes read a level of 0ppm). He said this is super dangerous and we need to get it replaced immediately. He said he suspects its a cracked heat exchanger, so the only option is to replace the whole thing. If we don't, us or our little dog might die.

He calls up his service manager, who agrees with his assessment. Then he passes the phone to his sales guy who offers us 3 options ranging from $10,000 - $12,000. The sales guy is super pushy and after telling him I need to talk it over with my wife, he asks that I go and do that right now while he's on the phone so we can make a decision immediately. I told him to call back later and he made me promise not to turn on the heater. He even lowered the price of the lower tier to $8000 (good thing to remember btw).

Why they're wrong and this is shady:
The tech's detector read CO was 0ppm in the house despite him writing 2ppm on the report. As for the duct reading of 9ppm, CO detectors can trigger false positives with heat (I was told this by multiple Heating/ AC companies I called). Goettl either knows this and is using it to scare people or is so uninformed that they are unknowingly making people get rid of good units for tens of thousands of dollars. Either way, don't trust them.

I bought my own CO detector that can recognize levels of 1ppm (most home alarms only trigger at 20-30ppm). I tested the duct connected to the heating furnace, the flames in the furnace, the vent closest to the furnace, my kitchen, and all got a level of 0ppm. To ensure it was working properly, I tested my kitchen gas stove and got 15ppm, and tested my car exhaust pipe and got 563ppm.

I also hired another HVAC company to come out and they checked with their CO detector and also got 0ppm in the house.

I cancelled my service agreement and will be using a different company. Either Goettl is using scare tactics or they are incompetent, either way I don't want them near my house again.

We lived in a new home with new A/Cs.  As it turned out our A/Cs apparently were not installed with the right level of refrigerant.  Chris Rios from Goettl A/C and Plumbing was able to help us to detect and fix the issue.  We look forward to a cooler summer this year!

UPDATE: After my initiation of contact with this company, I was finally called by a manager. He took full responsibility for the service failure, both in the work done on my system and customer service and support. A senior installer was immediately scheduled to repair my system, the manager also came to my home to ensure the problems were resolved to my satisfaction. I am sorry that this situation escalated to this level to ensure resolution, and have upped my rating for the company as a result. But I still would not refer business to this firm at this time because of the expense and customer support failure.

***

The only good thing about Goettl is Chris Rios, a technician who takes pride in his work and servicing his clientele. Sadly, however, Goettl is extremely expensive and non-responsive to quickly resolve problems. I was advised of a ducting issue at a scheduled maintenance, had the folks out to repair Thursday, Chris came to check pressurization at installers request Friday and discovered that the ductwork was mis-installed. THIS WAS NOT A CHEAP REPAIR. My lower level was holding at 65 degrees, and it was well into the 80s upstairs. Chris made a temp repair, assured me that I would hear from someone Saturday, or at the latest Monday. It is now midday Monday, I have called the office and have yet to hear from anyone. I totally regret having spent huge amounts of money replacing my system with this company, and would certainly discourage anyone from using them. The disappointment is real. Use a local company who values their clientele for the long haul. You can bet your bottom dollar I will be looking elsewhere when the time comes to replace my water heater.

This company was referred to me by another plumber. Yes that's right. My kitchen drain was clogged and I called them and got an immediate call back. They are wonderful!  If you call them ask for WIL. He is prompt, knowledgeable, and very professional. Also they have a great Membership/maintenance program.

I had a highly disappointing experience with Goettl. They scheduled a service appointment for us between 1-3 today and called once, two days ago, to try and sell us a service plan. On top of that, they called us two times yesterday just to confirm the appointment. However, when no one showed up at the scheduled time, we had to take the initiative and call them ourselves. The operator had the audacity to claim that they never called to confirm the appointment, which is completely false. They called us twice yesterday and confirmed the appointment. It was an absolute waste of our time. What a joke! I expected much better professionalism and reliability from Goettl.

Well, I signed up for the Sadie plan going to be a priority. Took 5 scheduled appointments to have the plumbing inspection. Second A/C service mold in air exchanger. Followed there recommendations to replace the air exchanger. Today have water running through my ceiling. I go into the attic and find the overflow tray full of water and insulation. It was clean before the work. Also a metal section that connects the air returns to the cooling unit/air exchanger was laying on the floor. Always good to be pulling in hot attic air.
I called for an emergency service and am told tomorrow at eleven is the earliest appointment. I have water running through my ceiling from there apparent poor work and 100 degrees. I ask to speak with a supervisor and was told a supervisor will call me within 24 hours. Sure am glad I am a priority. What a joke!

Update 6/13/2022 at 2:15 pm-
The 11:00 appointment on Sunday was a bust they for got to schedule it.
New appointment Monday 0900-1100.
Then messaged changed to 12:00 -12:30.
It's 2:20 and still no one.
Promise a supervisor call within 24 hours, it's been 39 hours and no supervisor call.
The owner responded on Yelp asked for address then no follow up.

Sure am glad I am a priority with the Sadie Plan.

Update 6/13/2022- At 2:50 pm a supervisor called.
At 6:00pm a Technician arrived and fixed my issue.
No charge.
Dave the technician was great and put me back into my happy place after 46 hours of frustration.

I'm giving one star for now, because I have the feeling that I don't get it done tomorrow. I'm getting very frustrated with Goettl services. I used their services last summer when my AC broke. The tech fixed it on a timely manner. He did a great job.

Yesterday I used their services again to fix the toilet. They changed the appointment 3 TIMES! Yesterday someone was supposed to come 3-5, had to reschedule to TODAY 11-1, then something came up, postponed til 3-5. He came and took a look at the toilet that is the most affected. I need that toilet fixed ASAP because it's grounded. My friend was going to come over, he can't go up the stairs too much to use  another bathroom that is working. He has a walking disability.

I have never been this MAD!  Goettl tech came late evening tonight, as I thought he was going to get the job done. I got excited, then I'm disappointed again. Nope!  He said first he would come at 9AM the next morning, then at 10 AM.

He should have come to my place first because this might be easy and quick, while he had to deal the most complicated job that took him ALL day today

To the people with the most complicated toilet, thank you for screwing up my day!!!!!

I told my friend not to come until further notice. I'm holding my breath if the tech would not be coming tomorrow or another postponement.

I called another company, they said they would  send out someone on FRIDAY!!!

Tech came out and diagnosed a bunch of problems and quoted us $9k in repairs but, of course, recommended we replace the entire system for around $19k.
Thankfully we got a second opinion.  The tech from the second company came out, diagnosed a single point of failure and made the effort to find out that the part was under warranty; $350 total for the repair.  System has been running great since.  The tech said he had no idea what the first tech was talking about when I showed him the first quote for repairs and that we definitely shouldn't replace our entire 7 year old system.
Absolutely shameless.
I can't speak to the quality of their work, but before you find out, I'd recommend getting a second opinion to make sure the work they want to do even needs to be done.

Two weeks after installation of new plenum, mixing box and ducts, we are still getting some loose insulation blowing through three vents in three rooms onto floor and furniture.  They apparently did not make sure the ducts were clean/free of debris before installing.  Goettl offered to clean our new ducts.  We declined for fear of even greater mess.  We appreciated their offer to try to make things right.

One of our can recessed lights in the kitchen had not come on since reduct work was completed.  We believed wiring was accidentally disconnected.  Goettl sent an electrician who found a loose connector inside a junction box.  The only explanation we could imagine it failed is that it got bumped during duct installation.  Again we appreciate Goettl making things right.

We have not yet had an independent evaluation of duct integrity (i.e., leaks) and efficiency.  We plan to do so before we seek additional bids to add the recommended amount of insulation to the attic.

If you contract with Goettl to replace your ducts in an older house's ceiling, expect considerable dust and loose insulation in your living area.  As part of the contract you might request a quote to include full house cleaning immediately after completion of installation. Be prepared...forewarned is forearmed.

At first, they seem super attentive. Once they had my business, things kind of started falling apart...The guys put my AC in that was a lot more expensive than most places: They assured me of their slogan about how they get it done the RIGHT way etc. They came out and put it in. That day, they left materials including a large concrete block that was killing my grass. So, they made an appt to come back out and get it. I took off work and they no showed no called: Remade another appt for the 10-12 time frame and 6:00 rolled around and no one came. They said they could get there late but my kids and I has plans. So, they rescheduled again. When they finally came, The guy that initially had sold me my AC but didn't put it in said he wanted to check their work. HE WAS THERE 2 hours. apparently they had routed everything wrong. It also put a condenser or some thing electrical in that he said was going to fry my system because it was too much power for my small system.... He told me that he was glad that he came out to check because my system would have been fried! that didn't give me a lot of faith and was really concerning for me since they were supposed to be putting things in the right way the first time. They made yet another appointment to come and switch out that part. The exact same thing happened where they no showed. I took off work that entire day and no one called and no one showed up. at this point, I am extremely frustrated and call customer service for the tenth time and they did show up for the next appointment to change out that part but it was five or six hours late. Luckily I didn't have anything planned that night.
they asked me to complete a survey to tell them about what they could improve on which I did. One of the ladies that took the survey said that she was going to see if they could help me out a little regarding the three days that I took off work that they no showed. I told them that I'm a single mom and that that would help me out a lot. I had also gotten my first AC bill since they had put it in and when I was told that my AC bill should be much better than my super old unit, it was $89 more than my old crappy AC that was not efficient had been. Then, when The guy that initially sold me my AC called me to let me know about what they can do for me to make up for all of those missed appointments that they didn't show up for and no called, he said that they couldn't do anything but that they could put this thousand dollar air cleaner thing on my AC to make up for it. I call my dad, I do some Internet investigating, and this is something that most companies charge $300 for that has been clinically proven doesn't help anything with air quality. AND Air quality is not my issue....It was just comical that you give them bad feedback which in my case was pretty bad feedback because it could've been 6 to 8 months down the line and I have a fried air conditioner that I'm sure would've been placed blame on me AND cost me money to fix...yet they did nothing to make it right. On top of everyone else quoting me around 8,000 to 9,000 for an AC and theirs costing $12,500 (I talked them down to 11,000 which is still WAY higher than other places....AND I'm stuck with a higher bill than I had with my crappy 11 year old AC that was going out. And now I'm left wondering what else they did wrong that I don't know about that's going to fill me within the next couple of years.:(

Joshua came to our house today (11/23/22) as a second opinion to determine if our 8 year old HVAC needs repair or replacement.  He was courteous and extremely thorough.  He went thru everything, and pulled out his tools to check numerous measurements and not just take for granted what a tech from another company had found.  To my relief, he recommended repair of the existing AC compressor, but replacement was not necessary.  Joshua takes his time, but will give you a true picture of what is and is not needed.
Will definitely consider Goettl for HVAC needs in the future.

Our AC started acting funny right when it started to get hot. I called Goettl (all those ads on the radio!) and booked an appt.
Communication was good. The technician (Jeremy or Bo) showed-up and was very thorough, took his time and explained everything. He was able to provide a temporary fix that will enable us to keep the house cool while the needed parts are on order.
Because it was a Holiday weekend and because the problem was bigger than anticipated (parts need to be ordered) the initial fee was waived.
I was very satisfied with the service I received. Goettl will return next week with the required parts to complete the job.

Great radio commercials but poorly run operation. Requested plumber for replacing a kitchen sink. They came out, charged me the 89$ fee to assess the problem. Gave me a quote. All I did was request a more detailed estimate with break down of cost of labor, cost of parts. I called the office, I called the plumber, I emailed the company. I was given the run around daily about them working on it. Never came through. Went with another company. Don't waste your time. Look elsewhere.

I had a technician at my home 3 or 4 weeks before today. He told me everything that was wrong with my HVAC unit. I have had maintenance service, twice a year, since I had the unit installed 8 years ago. How could so much be wrong? He really gave me an uneasy feeling the second he walked in my door. I talked to several managers since then and all of them dropped the ball on their communication. I even called the manufacturer to see if I could move my warranty to a new company.

Today, I had a new technician come out, to look at what the last technician stated was wrong with my HVAC. What a difference a technician makes. It started with his knock on the door. He picked up all the advertisements that companies had put on my door step/left on my door. He handed them to me. That was a nice thing to do. He then did his thing and when he was done he showed me all the pictures of my unit. The things the last technician stated were wrong, this technician said they are fine. He gave his suggestions to make the unit work better but none needed anything done at this time. He gave me suggestions of what I can do to keep my unit working.

He then closed up my attic door. The spring falls off and can't put it flush to the ceiling. However, he temporarily fixed it so he could shut the attic door. Again, he didn't have to, but he said I like to treat customers like I want people to treat my family

So this one technician changed my feeling about this company for now.

I just read other reviews. My gosh, I am having the same issues. I was told the same thing about my warranty, they won't honor it even though I have a piece of paper that says I have Parts and Labor warranty for another 4 years. This is something I am going to research with the manufacturer. Does not seem right at al

Ac is put 90+ degrees in the house advertises 24/7 service and yet refuses a service call.
Yet another HVAC that advertises 24/7 service but it is only an answering service. Feel free to kiss my behind. Don't need someone days from now, need someone now. Tonight called multiple companies including ARS, Affordable, and these clowns and no one will make a service call after advertising 25/7 service. Lazy liars.

For a company who prices themselves on top notch service I have had TWO terrible interactions with them. Shame on me for assuming giving them a second chance was a wise decision.
First, about a year ago they came to my home to do a AC tune up. I had a long call to get the appointment set up where I was told the technician would  wear boot overs, bring a ladder (as I shared it was needed) and other information. The technician showed up without a ladder, ate dinner on my patio (which was fine) BUT left his garbage including food wrappers and a root beer glass bottle along with paperwork, a chemical cleaner and sticker wrappers. Once inside, he asked to use my ladder which is too large to go upstairs. I told him this and he insisted on trying, scratching my freshly painted walls. Then when he realized the ladder was too large, he used my step stool and attempted to JUMP into my attic. I offered nicely and politely to reschedule my appointment countless times, which he declined. Due to jumping against my walls, he caused the bathroom mirror to fall and break into a huge mess. When it was all said I done, I was left with mud on my floors, my AC not serviced, a ladder and step stool to put away on my own, glass to clean up and his dinner mess to clean up. I left a review on the company vowing to never use them only to be bribed with gift cards, promises they would come rehang a bathroom mirror (never did) and free service for 2 years to give them another chance....I did....well that was a mistake....

I sold stocks at a bad time after I signed a contract to have them add 12 inches on attic insulation which they pressured me to do ASAP. I clear my schedule, take off work, sold stocks, and was prepared for the appointment only to have them cancel 24 hours before the appointment. I took a loss with the stocks and now will need to take another day off a work...

They spam call non stop to move appointments, to add sales calls with a lot of pressure, to follow up on appointments and to cancel appointments. No joke in 1 week I had 13 calls from them.

I do NOT recommend this company. Disorganized, untrained, unprofessional, and wildly expensive. They justify their prices by priding themselves on their customer service, but I can say with 100% certainly, they are one of the worst companies in Austin Texas.

Update: Michael comments below but I have NOT heard from the branch manager. Yelp doesn't let you message people or reply to comments. So Michael, I can't directly reply to you other than sharing the Austin Branch did NOT reach out to me like you said they would. Honestly, not surprised. The Austin office is a total mess. Customer service they preach....is maybe they worst I have ever experienced.

We reached out to several businesses for a quote after our AC stopped blowing cool air. As with most units over 10 yrs it was time to replace it with a new model.

Dayton came out the next day to give a quote and ultimately the price point could not be beat. They started the work on time the same day (by noon) and by that evening we had a working unit again. We have a warranty and also a service plan in place now to ensure maximum output.

Great communication, friendly and ultimately- they get the job done. Thanks to Lorenzo for coming through for us!

After my AC stopped working on a hot, July Friday afternoon, they were able to send a technician over the next day to get it fixed. I called several other businesses and most did not have any weekend appointments, and some had no availability for a few days. My one small complaint is that the technician sent a courtesy text that he was on his way, but it was about an hour and a half before he actually arrived. Once he did arrive, he worked quickly and got my AC up and running again.

Had this company come out to give me an estimate of replacing hvac unit. Young man went up in the attic and came back with lots of pictures.  Some were mine and not sure about the others. Told it was covered in mold. At least that's what his pictures showed. So anyway after a long time talking and back and forth with him on his phone to the office I was told they have a 5 star tier. 119,ooo.+ -530,ooo.+   I almost fell for this scam. I just couldn't wrap my mind around the cost no matter how I tried. I was told that ac units had increased considerably but REALLY?? Anyway I called and told them no thhanks, just WAY too expensive.  Anyway I received a phone call from Mark (I think that was his name) and he said that could drop it yo 15,000.!!?? We politely declined. We are having a new unit installed today at a much reasonable cost and not abit shady on their sales tactics. Watch out for this company. Read ALL YELP REVIEWS AND BBB!

It even sure where to start. They bought an AC company Dayton services who literally put in a brand new Diakin AC system in less than 2 years ago. We have had nothing but issues with this darn thing since we got it. It randomly shuts down all the time. We have had them out here to fix it at least a half a dozen times. Of course paying Service fees when they come fix it and then it happens again. Now they offer to give us a coupon for half the price we paid originally for the system and pay additional $8k-$12k for them to put in a different brand new system.  Make your own choices but this definitely makes my blood boil.

I purchased a 12 year labor warranty from Dayton A/C in 2015. Dayton was purchased by Goettl last year. I called Goettl and emailed over my labor warranty, and the service manager agreed to honor it and we made an appointment for later in the week for between 9 and noon. Near to one when no one had shown up, I called Goettl and they said in the interim 2 days time that all Dayton warranties had been reduced to 2 years, and that I would owe $299 diagnostic fee just to have the serviceman pull up in my drive. Don't use Goettl!!  They lied and deceived me.

Screwed yet again by Dayton Services...

My thermostat went out today, which was installed in 2016 at the same time (Dayton Services) installed the complete HVAC system. Unfortunately, they never registered the install date for the thermostat, and because it's a 2014 part and wasn't register at time of installation, it is no longer covered under the 5 year warranty.

Buyer beware. There are tons of HVAC companies out there. Do your research.

Having been a homeowner for over 40 years, I was more impressed with Goettl's service than any other AC company I've used. The company's communication was outstanding, from my first contact throughout the service. I heard about their AC Tune-Up for $129 on a radio ad (goettl.com/air-condition…), and I figured I'd give it a try on my 15-year-old unit. The technician who visited (Derrick) was very experienced and professional. I could not believe the thoroughness of the process. Using numerous sophisticated devices he checked out everything about the equipment. I got numerous photos showing what was inspected and cleaned. Derrick cleaned all the important parts better than they've been cleaned before. I felt I got a very honest assessment about my system, and I decided to sign-up for the membership that provides annual AC, heating and plumbing assessments. I attached just a couple of the photos I received.

I called them for a broken AC after hearing their we do things the right way commercials on the radio. They set an appt the next day from 3-5pm. I planned my day accordingly. I received a call the next day at 3:30 informing me they would be here closer to 5pm. By 6pm, no Goettl repairman. I called to find out where they were. I was told this is their busiest time of the year.  (The first week in April?) I guess their (potential) customers are not busy-we have nothing to do but clear our schedules and wait around all day for technicians who fail to show up. I called another, well-known AC company.

My AC went south late Tuesday. Called and Had a Tech out Weds the next morning. Found out the issue quickly and a new system was needed the repair was too expensive to justify it. In 15 mins i had an unbelievably fair quote. It was Installed the next morning (Thursday). Really experienced crew and did a great job. This is a first class operation. Still hard to spell but do a Exceptional Job!

On June 21, I made an appointment for a visit on June 30, between 11 and 1. At 1:30, when noone had arrived or contacted me, I called, and was told that the technician was delayed at another visit, but would be here soon.
At 3:30, I received a text from a service manager, Aaron, saying that a tech was available. I called, and was told that the appointment he saw was for 8-5, which I would not have made for June 30, as I needed to leave home by 4:30. However, I was given the impression the technician would be there within minutes.
At 4:10, however, the technician still had not arrived. I texted Aaron to cancel the visit. The impression Goettl made on me is that they cannot be relied upon.

Called twice and was put on hold for over thirty minutes listening to two annoying voices saying the same thin over and over.  I had two AC's installed by Dayton before Goettl bought them.  Dayton was great but now they are terrible!!  Stay away.  Not sure how I can get service on my AC's.  I paid extra for a 10 year parts and labor warranty, but guess I'll not be getting that.

We have used Dayton Services through two homes, now. Derrek on maintenance and Andrew on install, both, represent how well this company problem solves and treats their customers. And, our electricity bills have been reduced significantly since the new HVAC systems and insulation were installed. Our family recommends them every chance we get. Even our wildly suspicious dogs like them and that is a huge endorsement.

They are on time, safe, professional, responsive, kind and humorous when you find weird stuff in the walls and attic.

I sat on hold for 10 minutes just to find out that Goettl does not work on commercial Hvac. That would be good to mention on the hold message or on the radio ads.

STAY AWAY - THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE!  I had them do a tune up on my five year old air conditioner.  The tech had several recommendations that needed to be done.  He could not tell me what any of them were until he puts the info into his laptop which would be 10 minutes.  30 min later he is still sitting in his car.  I told him I have to leave but he needed another 15 minutes before he could tell me any recommendations.  I told him I was leaving and to just call me with recommendations.  He recommendations MUST be done in person and refused to call me.  When I told him I could not wait, he said to just schedule another appointment to review recommendations because it MUST be in person.  I called next morning and the next appointment was two weeks later?  They want to me wait two weeks for someone to give me a recommendation on what needs to be done?????

I got a text that night asking how service was.  I gave them a one.  They asked what could be done differently.  I replied to please call me.  They responded back asking what the nature of the call is about???????

I had a number to service manager who tried to move up the original appointment.  I called him at 8:00 AM this morning and he ha not returned my call as of this afternoon.  I called the 800 number and was routed to a call center in CA.  I had to be placed on hold for five minutes while they looked up the local number to call only to have number just rang and rang!  I finally get a hold of someone in Austin and they could not get a hold of any service manager and said they would call me back.  That was two hours ago.  I call again and they don't see that I called in two hours ago.  Still waiting for someone to call me seven hours later.

STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!

Update: Received my thermostat promptly after writing the review. I'm giving them 4 stars for making the effort to set things right.

Dayton installed a new HVAC at a rental property in April. Their techs were courteous and promptly got the job done on time. Great! Brian did a great job of communicating with me. Prior to the installation, that is.

Given that it's a rental property, I expected them to at least give me a call and let me know when the job was done. And perhaps send me a few photos? They didn't - not a big deal. I called them up and after multiple attempts of them emailing me, I eventually received it a few days later.

The techs that came home thought it would be a great idea to replace the existing Ecobee with a vintage thermostat that came with the new unit because 'the Ecobee isn't compatible'. I had installed the Ecobee myself on a 19-year-old unit and you're tell me that this new unit isn't compatible? After having been told that I have an Ecobee prior to the installation? My tenants had to insist on getting the Ecobee reinstalled. And leave the new thermostat behind.
Well, they did put the Ecobee back (voila! it's now compatible) and took the new thermostat with them. Two emails and three phone calls to Beth and they still haven't returned the thermostat. The thermostat is probably worth $25 but if you want me to refer you to my friends, this is certainly not the kind of service you offer your customers. Sorry.

I had my air ducts cleaned in Lakeway in March of 2019. I started a renovation in November of 2019. I had them look up in air vents because I saw mold coming out. Sure enough the air vents that were supposedly cleaned in March were full of mold. OLD mold that could not have happened in that short period of time. I contacted Dayton to rectify. They sent a manager out and he view them himself. He said he would talk to his boss and I never heard back. Since then, I called again just after Christmas and still no phone calls returned. Guess they didn't care to fix it or the fact that my family of 5 was breathing in the toxic air blowing from those vents. They got me for over $1500! DO NOT USE this company

When we worked with Dayton, it was always good but as soon as the company became Goettl, it went down hill fast.  The quote on a new unit was almost three times higher than competitors. They tried to talk me into a larger unit than I needed and when they finally agreed that a smaller unit would work, the price didn't come down. The larger unit would also have meant doors needing to be removed plus new electrical. Funny how the smaller unit worked just fine for over a decade.  And don't join their monthly Sadie club.  It has taken three calls to cancel and they won't refund the monthly charges that continued to come after cancelling. And nobody who actually answers the phone, is authorized to make a decision. This one needs to talk to a manager. Then that manager needs to talk to a supervisor. And usually I was talking to someone in Arizona even though I live in Austin. I don't think I ever actually talked to the same person more than once and finally got a rep to admit that I should work with another company.

Josh Turner is the best ever. My AC went out and he called me prior to arrival and I explained what was going on. He was able to diagnose what the issue was OVER the phone. His experience, professionalism, and honesty are character traits not found now days. When he arrived he did the full troubleshooting and he was exactly right about my issue. He also offered insight on indoor air purification because we have 3 dogs and we all have allergies. He practiced all safety measures related to COVID-19 by wearing a mask, gloves, and and social distancing. I highly recommended this company and Mr. Turner for his expertise.

These guys are as professional and reliable as they come. They are ready to come to you within a few hours even in the busy summer times. I wished more companies in town were this professional.

Use Dayton Services if you enjoy being overcharged for services and poor customer service/experience!

I have used them a few times in the past, but this company has gone downhill as they have grown.

They charged over $300 for a fuse and a 5 minute job and failed to call the owner for authorization for any repair after their diagnosis as instructed on the phone.

They left bare/damaged low voltage lines at the outside unit and did not address this with the owner.  Likely the fuse would have blown again - but why would you want to stop the gravy train if you can get over $300 to replace a fuse?

Our home in:
Austin, TX 78759
My name : Ravi Kotta (customer).
Details of the complaint:
Company Name who tried to service our AC unit issue: Goettl (formerly Dayton AC)
Date of their visit to our home address: June 15, 2021 (Tuesday) at 5 pm.
Details of the complaint:
We reported this AC unit not functioning issue on June 13 (Sunday) around 6 pm via internet to Goettl company website, after trying few times to reach them via phone. We realized from the phone greeting message that Dayton AC service company was bought by Goettl company.
We tried this company first because our AC unit was originally bought from Dayton AC (AC unit manufacturer: Daikin) and got installed by Dayton AC. And we just learnt that Dayton AC service part of the company was bought by Goettl.
We had warranty on this unit for 14 years since the date of installation 5 years ago (2016). So, we still have warranty on this.
After we set this appointment for repair to be had for Tuesday June 15 (earliest available). However, we did not get any message or email. Since we didn't hear from them in quite sometime, and we never acknowledged or got to discuss any charges involved (since we have warranty, and even in hypothetical situation that the current AC unit issue is not covered under warranty, the Goettl company sales people should talk to us first and agree on terms of what charges for the visit and diagnosis etc, and agree over the phone or via email from customer before dispatching the service guy.
Since we didn't hear from them for more than 24 hours even on business days (Monday or Tuesday), we thought these guys may not even show up. But the guy showed up at 5 pm Tuesday (June 16) while I was not home. He tried to check on the machine (inside thermostat, and outside compressor). The service guy finally told me when I returned home, that the visit and diagnosis charge was $89, and the estimated cost for fixing the issue was $900. Before he visited our home, we already did our independent checks (self-help) on the unit's error code and checked in google and youtube and found the problem to be 'capacitor in the outside unit (compressor) going bad'. We have a PDF downloaded from internet that clearly gives the reason for this issue in clear Error code versus reason type table for different types of error codes. Our error clearly mapped to capacitor going bad. Then we went to store (Granger) to purchase that part, which only costed $30. This guy was trying to charge me $89 for visit that we didn't agree the price on before his visit, AND, he was giving me the estimated cost to fix it was $900. We immediately sensed that these guys were trying to rip us off, thinking that we don't know anything about AC as to how it works and what could be wrong with it etc. But we already knew what was wrong from our independent research. So, we did not accept their diagnosis or repair offer which was obvious cheating.
We replaced the capacitor ourselves, and the AC started working as normal as before. We only spent $30 and 10 minutes of labor (open the case of the unit, replace the capacitor). Very easy and quick job. Obviously these kinds of companies are ripping customers since customers don't have this knowledge.

We recently bought a brand new air conditioner and heating system from Dayton services.  The air conditioner worked fine.  The brand new heater, does not.  Two separate technicians came out yesterday and claimed it was fixed.  It is still not working.  It is 50 degrees in our home.  I called to see if they could give me a better ETA and it took over 20 rings for someone to answer.
I am disappointed and wish I would have read some of the reviews before we chose this company.

I've trusted Dayton Services with just about all my plumbing / air-conditioning related needs for the past 5 years. I've found their technicians friendly, knowledgable, and timely. Above all, I've received honest service with integrity from them. After having worked with 3rd-party contractors of varying levels of integrity (both big and small companies), I think that finding people you can trust is worth its weight in gold.

About two years ago, I opted to replace my ailing home A/C through the city of Austin's Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Rebate + Loan. I met with three companies within the program, one of them being Dayton. I was really struck with the level of personal attention I received from people at Dayton Services, be it Kristina on the phone to get things scheduled, or Coy Dayton himself over email as we tried to hash out a setup that would fit our family's budget. We ended up getting an amazing personalized deal for a highly efficient setup. Along the way (as you're bound to experience if you go the Home Performance rebate route), there were plenty of surprises. These were all handled with extreme fairness. For example: it was missed during the pre-inspection/rebate quoting process that the house would need new pull-down attic stairs. When that fact came to light, Dayton Services arranged to replace the pull-down stairs free of charge.

We dealt with some minor issues here and there, and actually last year Dayton Services had to replace the 1-year-old outdoor condensing unit due to a manufacturing defect. All of this was at no cost to me. That's kind of where I'm going with this -- every step of the way I've felt consistently supported by them. If I have a question or problem, the office never fails to listen to me and try their best to make it right. And that, in my opinion, makes a world of difference.

My experience with Dayton A/C & Heating was so terrible that I filed a complaint with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The TDLR Enforcement Division considered the complaint significant enough to open an investigation (ACR20170023315). As of the writing of this review, the investigation is ongoing.

I filed the complaint with TDLR because, when I questioned the quality of Dayton's installation work in process, Dayton became hostile and threatened me. Also, I had the work inspected by several experts who said the work does not comply with standards, and it violates building code. Details are provided below.

During the first day of work, Dayton employees began installing the line sets for the proposed HVAC equipment. After that first day of work, they did not return for a week. During that time, I examined their work, and became concerned over quality. I called to voice my concerns, and Dayton employees became aggressive, including Winston Coy Dayton, the company owner (TACLB00010288E). When he threatened to put a lien on my home, I ended the call. Coy immediately sent me several texts that claimed: I have no legal position to defend myself; he owns a large company with many lawyers who have never lost a lawsuit; and I cannot have an inspection performed on the work so far. Ironically, he even accused me of being a bully.

In the days following, I had the work inspected by two inspection companies, the lead instructor at a local HVAC training and certification school, and a professional engineer. I also discussed the work with various individuals representing the manufacturer, relevant regulatory agencies, reputable HVAC service companies, and legal counsel.

Those who personally inspected the work onsite described it as unprofessional, poor workmanship, not educated, messy, and unskilled. In addition, numerous contractors for other trades were onsite for our renovation project, and they invariably said the work was terrible.

While the professional engineer was performing his inspection, he observed writing on the lines that was not relevant to this job, paint smears, along with the extensive damage. He wondered aloud whether these lines were not new but rather old material salvaged from a previous job.

The various experts made the following claims: the work was not performed in compliance with manufacturer specifications or industry best practices; the work commits numerous building code violations; if the installation were completed, the system will not operate properly, and the lines will leak condensation water inside the drywall, causing property damage and creating a health risk; the only viable correction to the installed line sets is to completely remove and replace them. Also, Dayton's planned method for installing drain lines would not comply with building code. In addition, the way Dayton chose to install their line sets makes installation for other components difficult to comply with building code, requiring more complex and expensive solutions.

After receiving written reports from the experts, I sent to Dayton a letter that contained a summary of events, photos of the work, and the 56-page report by the professional engineer, which referenced the other two inspection reports. I provided those documents to TDLR for the complaint process.

As suggested by my lawyer, I included with the letter a release that Dayton would sign to terminate the agreement and prevent him from harassing me further.

A couple of hours after receiving the letter with expert written reports, Dayton signed and returned the release. One of his employees then called to ask when Dayton could come over and show me how the lines were in fact NOT damaged, and when his personnel could come take down the lines so they would not be damaged.

Shocked at this outrageous behavior and anticipating that Dayton would treat other consumers so badly, and also fearing that Dayton would reuse these lines in yet another job, I filed the complaint with TDLR.

Note that this work was performed in The Hills, TX. Unlike Austin, The Hills does not require permits or inspections for this type of work. Coming from Austin, Dayton knew this and apparently took advantage of the situation by sending unqualified employees to do unacceptable work.

Have used Dayton in the past multiple times (new units and repairs) without a problem. Not today.

Called them 8:30am in the morning, and setup an appointment for 12:30pm. 6pm and 6 calls later, David, the technician is nowhere to be found. Every time I call, they try to reach the technician, they can't, and promise to call me back. I never received a call back or any clear reason for the delay, except that I am next on technician's list.

Finally, the technician shows up at 6:45pm. Wants the card information before starting the work. Tries to sell me the membership service without knowing the exact terms.

I will be looking elsewhere for my next HVAC requirement.

A few days ago, I wrote a pretty bad review. Since then Dayton has worked very hard to make me a satisfied customer. The problem was not all their fault, but rather the fault of an over zealous home inspector who led me to believe that the work had not been performed properly. Dayton came back out and verified that the a/c was indeed working as it should have been, wrote a detailed report for the buyer of my condo, and all ended well. So, my apologies to Dayton.

It doesn't really matter who you use, replacing your ENTIRE AC unit isn't cheap. But- from our initial assessment with Josh, to Adam and Freddie spending several hours in the 100 degree heat replacing the unit- our experience was fantastic. And, Dayton was our second opinion.  They saved us $2k compared to the first estimate. 10/10, highly rec.

Dayton wanted $950 to replace inside blower motor. Let's see, motor costs $240. So they wanted $700+ for a 30 minute job. They also have a $89 service fee that you'll be stuck with if you decide to get another quote.

Found someone else to buy and install new motor for $200 plus parts ($240).

A friend recommended Dayton Services after I had told him the ridiculous prices I had been quoted for a water heater replacement from other plumbing companies. Kelly from Drayton came out & it turned out that my water heater was still good. Forgot to add that he was the only tech that actually looked at my water heater. He flushed it, changed a valve & recommended a filtration system, which I did get. They did a great job! Oh, I had Kelly quote me for a water heater replacement (was curious) & there price was WAY more reasonable than the other companies that had quoted the replacement.

Highly recommend them.

We are miserable in this heat and after spending$600 we are even hotter. Here is what happened:

June 1
* Thermostat said replace battery. I did.
June 2
* AC seemed less effective than before, house was in mid-80's by 10 PM
June 3
* 8 AM: House was 83 degrees.
* I phoned Dayton. I said, I think there is something wrong with my thermostat
* 10 AM Technician arrived. I asked him to look at thermostat. He said it was fine.
* Technician said the problem was lack of coolant. He said: Add coolant today for temporary fix. Next week replace leaking parts for long term solution. I agreed.
* Technician put in 2 pounds of coolant and said that it was full
* 1 PM: House was 86 degrees
* 6 PM: House was 91 degrees
June 4
* 8AM: House was 86 degrees
* I phoned Dayton. I was told the reason my house had not yet cooled is because I did not replace the 'leaking' parts. Not once was I offered an apology for the discomfort to myself, my autistic son, or my 5 pets.

Lay Person's Conclusion

Addition of coolant did not provide a temporary fix.
There must be problems in addition to the leak.

We called Dayton for a second opinion when we were having AC issues. Their technician found an obvious problem within minutes of arriving which the previous company had missed. They did a great job getting our AC up and running again.

Our AC went out last night so we did what anyone with a home warranty does and filled out a request. We ended up getting horrible customer service from them, so we decided to find our own to fix it in 100+ degree temps as it was an emergency. Dayton was the only company to say they'd be able to help out today (on a Sunday) and would come by between 3-6. They had availability even earlier and came around 1. Service was quick, effective, and friendly. Bob was awesome and helpful. We'll happily call again if we have any other issues. Thank you!

Received a quote that included the City of Austin rebate for $350 for energy efficient HVAC unit but installed unit that didn't qualify for the rebate and cannot get them to call me back to remedy the situation or even explain it.  I don't even know if they installed the unit that I paid for.

Install was fine and quick and all seems to be working well a couple months in but left grease and/or dirt fingerprints all around the vents inside the house which had to be cleaned.

I would recommend paying attention to what is going on.  I was in a hurry with a broken AC unit in August and they probably took advantage.

We have a ComfortNet™ CTK04 Communicating Thermostat, and this morning the Outdoor Temperature was not right:  reading 84 deg F vs. actual ambient of 72 deg F.  Certainly not a catastrophic situation, but I called, and they said that a service technician would have to come out in a day or so.  We set the appointment, but I asked to have a technician call me, and maybe we can troubleshoot or solve over the phone.  Sure enough, that is what we did, as Bobby called and we solved by rebooting the unit.  Simple enough!  Thanks Bobby!  I called later to cancel the appt.

We had a clog in our sink that a plumber came out and fixed. Then, a couple days later water went through a wall when we ran the washing machine. I called and they told me a plumber would be out at 7:30 the next morning. He didn't end up coming until 9:30. We were told a specific time and the plumber had been told a time range. He fixed the problem and we were not charged another fee. Everyone was very nice!

I wanted to give more stars but I can't as I feel a bit ripped off. First off, the staff were very kind from Denise, Michelle (I may have got this name wrong) and the two gentlemen who came out to my residence. The issue I was having was resolved which why those 2 things combined is why I give this 2 stars.

I called with hopes to get a plumber to my house because a hair clog in one of my sinks causes my A/C condenser drain line to backup and overflow. To avoid this happening I wanted a plumber to just remove the clog. Thinking as I could have bought the 20-30 dollar metal snake and pulled it myself I wanted re-assurance that someone who has seen it before got everything. Originally I scheduled for 6pm on a Wednesday of which I was called and that was cancelled by the company (my A/C has been off to avoid overflow) the time was rescheduled for the next morning at 10am. I called the company at 10:50am as I have not heard anything from them as to their ETA. Upon arrival no estimate was discussed until the job was already underway at which I was told the pricing was 180. 15 minutes later the job is complete and the clog was easily removed. I'm dumbfounded as to where the logic that this job is worth 180 dollars. I personally feel ripped off as this was AT MOST a 100 dollar job, if that even.

As I said, the company has nice employees which speaks a lot for them but make sure you get pricing for anything and everything up front before a job starts.

Summary:  Failed repair... extremely expensive... Freon fail.  Call Alpine!

I'm sorry to rain on the parade, but I was very unimpressed with service from Dayton.  I found them from Amana, since it was likely a warranty repair.  It has been leaking over the years, first taking 2 years to drain, then down to 8 months.  8 pounds of Freon is expensive. I wanted the leak found and fixed.

I explained the issue.  What does he do when he gets there... takes the pressure reading which fills the valve with Freon!  So later when he does the leak test at the valve, he says here it is.  20 minute leak test cost $300 for him to wave the wand around and find nothing in the evaporator coils, where I said it likely was due to known manufacturing issues.  But he puts it where he filled with Freon and says that's the leak.  I asked why he didn't check there first, BEFORE filling it with Freon.  Charges $130 for 1 minute replacement of the Schrader valve internals.  The tool can be bought for $79 and the part is pennies.  Nice.

They charge $85 a pound for Freon.  The NEW Freon.  Their cost is $5.  Other places charge $35 to $45.  My system holds 12 pounds and loses 8.  That's $680 in Freon for $40 bucks worth.  Feeling ripped off a bit?  Yup.  But that was his quoted price, and I have to pay for the visit, so it's a waste to call someone else at that point.

He did offer a bit of a discount, but still $1100 for the visit.

Fast forward 4 months.   No more Freon.  He comes back and waves his wand around.  Doesn't find anything.  The price for the visit is $89 because their repair failed.  He does his analysis and says, you need dye put in, and then I'll come back and look for the dye.   That test is $400, but he has to buy the dye and do it later.  I say, Don't you have to fill with Freon?  Yes. Won't that all leak out?   Yes.  He already stated there should be tons of oil visible, so if he can't see the oil, how can he see the dye?  2 pounds of oil is somewhere and he can't see it.  So he is suggesting $400 for the test, and then it will be another $800 of Freon.  I ask, since the original Freon has all leaked out, and it's going to leak again, do I get a discount on the Freon.  Remember, cost is $5 a pound.  An opportunity to offer help for A FAILED FIX.  The answer?  Nope.  It's part of the process he says.  What a rip off.  I then say, I don't want dye put in.  What about cutting the lines and doing a proper pressure test, since I think it's in the evaporator coils.  He disappears for 20 minutes to the truck and comes back saying that test is $1200. Plus Freon.  And since they have to prove the evaporator coils have failed to get the free replacement, they would have to pressure it up anyway.  He says that if indeed the evaporator is at fault, that the install cost would be $1800.  I pay him the $89 and say bye.  Have to do some thinking.  But really... no discount to refill cheap Freon into the system to replace Freon that leaked out of his $1100 repair is just horrible.  Time to find a new vendor.

I return to the Amana web site and find another vendor.  Alpine Heating and AC. Also 5 stars.  Alpine!!!  I call them and explain.  He says that they will cut the lines and do a proper pressure test for $300. Yes.  $300.  Deal... come on over!  The tech says that he personally doesn't like using dye... that it's in the system forever and it's just messy and he likes to find the leak using pressure tests.  They come over and do the pressure test.  They have to visit twice because one of the readings was a little bit inconclusive.  They honor their price... $300.  This is for what Dayton quoted $1200.  Oh, and did they find the leak?  Yes... IN THE EVAPORATOR.  Hmm.

So then he quotes me a price to replace the evaporator.  It is a fraction of Dayton.  A small fraction.  Less than 1/2.  Not only that, the owner says that since I've spent so much (with other repair places) on this leak, that he will offer me an incredible deal on Freon.  I don't want to write it because others may expect the same service.  But I was immensely grateful as I have spent over $3000 on repairs where the tech says, I FOUND IT, and then it all leaks out again.

But that is how you treat customers, people!  A bit of understanding goes a long way.

I think Dayton is riding on their 5 star rating.  Their phone likely rings off the hook, and they can keep gouging customers as they seem fit.  They may also look at the house they are visiting and say: he can pay it.  Who knows.  $85 a pound for the new Freon is criminal.  The going rate for Alpine is $35 or $40, and no install charge.

It grinds my gears that they were going to charge me again for the Freon.  I think I may have got that point across.  Today was the end of the Alpine repair.  It turns out that not only was there a major leak in the evaporator, but a minor leak in outside line.  All fixed, for a small fraction of the $3000 Dayton was going to charge.

Call Alpine!  Say Ian sent you.

The AC woes continue. This time it was the pesky capacitor. Most home owners take comfort in a simple 10-minute fix. I also am grateful for a simple fix but charging $250 to install a $10 part truly annoys me--nothing like a billing rate of $1000+/hour. It says a lot about a company when they are willing to take advantage of customers in this way. The search for an AC company resumes again. I think I will begin my search with how much would you charge to replace a capacitor?

Technician was pleasant to deal with. Problem was fixed. Just not happy with an unreasonable charge.

Simply the best.  Found 3 major issues related to health and an attic leak that 2 other contractors overlooked in their bids.  I had a complete remove and replace on a CACH system with condensate line issues that were leaking into my attic.  These items directly impacted the health/safety/welfare of the people in my home.  Josh Turner (not the singer but a REALLY great person nonetheless) did my assessment. I would recommend him over ANY other estimator that exists. Ask for him my name.   He found items that were simply overlooked by the others 2 big name companies that came by.  Not trying to up-sell me at all, but he did point out things that made it apparent that my WELL BEING was more important than the sale. Price was still LESS than the others and a crew of 4 showed up right on time and completed the job in LESS time that they projected.  Perfect clean up and it looked great.  I am a real customer and I will only recommend these guys from now on.

I ended up buying a Yelp coupon in 2013 and never had the chance of using it.  Well, unfortunately my AC stopped working at a rental property and they still honored the coupon and not only the amount I paid for....which was AWESOME.  I ended up calling them and they were able to come out the next day.  I had Josh Turner as my repair guy and he was GREAT!! He got my AC working in no time.  He was super personable, nice, and taught me some things I can do in order to help maintain my HVAC.  Would definitely recommend him.  He's a great asset to the company!!

Dayton AC is a great company - family owned.

We went through the City of Austin's energy rebate program and got a new AC and furnace through Dayton.

They were clean, competent, prompt, and friendly. They had the opportunity to cut several corners and save a little time, but they did not do so. They even stayed late on a Friday night to get to a true stopping point.

Mostly, though this is about customer service after the sale.

After a Paypal error on my part, Dayton A/C went out of their way to help me out. As it turned out, I mistakenly used my debit card instead of the credit card to pay the $4,200 bill. It was a pretty big shock to see those red numbers when I checked my balance a few days later.

Long story short, because the payment had already been made, Paypal couldn't help me and I was stuck with a severely overdrawn checking account.

I called Melinda at Dayton, and after I explained the situation, she re-issued a Paypal bill, which I immediately paid (with the right card), then she cut me a check and drove to meet me...

Not something she had to do, but I surely appreciate it...

I was able to get an appointment the same day and they picked up their phone the 1st time I called! Our technician was very knowledgeable, quick and able to answer all my questions. I needed to get a motor replaced and Dayton called the company to check and see if it was still under warranty to try and save me some money!  (Unfortunately it wasn't ) will definitely use them in the future if needed or recommend them!!!

I found Dayton on Angie's List and they were very highly rated.  I called Coy @ Dayton back in the summer of 2011.  We were having issues with our A/C not really cooling the house.  We had just purchased a newly remodeled home in Allandale and we could tell (once we moved in) that the previous owners skimped on many things.  One of these things was the duct work in the home.  Coy checked out the unit and had one of his guys thoroughly check everything and to top off the coolant.  He recommended that we revaluate the duct system once it was a little cooler.

I called last week to schedule an appointment with him and he fit me in the next day.  He went over several options with me.  I asked him which one he would choose for his own home and he recommended the zoning option, which by the way was the least expensive of the two.

They are scheduled to come out next Thursday (2/9/12) and I will update my review with my evaluation of their work.

We had a great experience with Dayton this weekend.  We are selling our house, with an open house planned for Sunday.  Friday morning, our outside unit started making a horrible noise.  I called Dayton, and they had someone out within an hour to take a look.  Our compressor was bad, which was disappointing, but it's an old system so not too surprising.  They quoted me a fair price to replace it, and were back out the next morning installing the new unit.  We had our new unit in less than 24 hours from our first call to them.  Everyone we spoke too was friendly and professional.  They will definitely be my first call if we have AC trouble in the future.

I am revising my review for Dayton Services for the installation of a new plenum, ductwork, and a Halo Ionizer in my home yesterday (3/13/19). We reached a decent compromise regarding our misunderstanding on the quoted price, and Dayton has assured us that they will change their policy to make sure that price quotes are totaled up before the customer signs the bid. I liked the people personally, and I appreciated finding out about the mold that grows near plenums (that was in our old plenum/duct system and possibly kept fueling our bronchitis this winter), which we hope the Halo Ionizer will remedy to keep our home mold-free in the future. I would have appreciated better communication on this job: please let customers know that debris will come down from the attic under each vent so they have the opportunity to move and protect what's under the vents; and also, please keep up better with the customer regarding when the job will start and end, including letting us know when/why the workers disappear for a long time in the middle of the job. Good things: they scheduled and completed the job really quickly overall, and they gave us bonus dampers that were not originally included, and worked with us to make us happy after we had our miscommunication. We are keeping fingers crossed that we will be able to raise this review even higher after we have a chance to test the system (for air flow, balance, and lack of mold) and check the work in the attic.

The absolute best AC company I have ever used!  AC went out, I called them, they had a tech out to my property within the hour, 15 minutes later the unit was repaired and serviced.  I asked the tech if he had any other appointments, he had plenty of time so we serviced 2 other properties in a short amount of time!  Since I have been doing real estate this is the best AC company I have ever dealt with! Cost effective and professional!  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Coy and his crew were very professional. From the home inspection/estimates to the end of our new AC installation, they kept in constant contact and were courteous the entire time. Coy responded to all my emails and the installation crew were extremely attentive and pleasant to work with. I have no doubt I'll continue to get top notch customer service from these guys; plus they'll locally owned and have been around for a long time. I highly recommended Dayton AC & Heating!

So far, so good!  I had a full a/c and furnace replacement a week ago.  Everything is working great so far!  They put in a new carbon monoxide detector and noticed my smoke detector wasn't working, so they installed a new one for me.  The technician also offered to cut down some limbs that were in my way, which I declined.  He did have to cut some smaller limbs to access the a/c, which he cut into smaller pieces and hauled away himself.  Great service!  All the staff was pleasant to work with.  The office seemed a little disorganized, but they said they were switching to a new system.

We have a new water heater installed today after having Dayton install a new ac earlier this year.  The staff was very friendly and professional, kept everything clean, and the heater was reasonably priced.  They even hauled-off the original water heater (from many years ago) in addition to the one being replaced.  The original had been left by a prior company that did an installation and who claimed it was too big to fit back down the attic door.  Very pleased with their service.

Beware!  READ THIS WHOLE REVIEW ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM.  You won't believe what the owner said to us in an email.

We called them because a room in our house is 85 degrees. The guy came out & told us we needed a bigger duct, so we paid $400 for it.  But first we asked, what if it doesn't work? And he said Oh it WILL make a HUGE difference.  24 hours after the work was done, we still have an 85 degree room.  He came back out & said the airflow was improved (huh?) and he'd have to talk to his boss.  After numerous calls & missed appointments, the owner, Coy, sends us 2 unbelievable emails.  Here are quotes - HIS WORDS:

You will not be given any money back. The work was done. You did not relay to Bobby what your exact expectations were. The work was done, the technician paid, and the materials were bought for your home! I am not going to lose money by doing work at your house!

What?  We didn't make our expectations clear?  How about a room that is COOLER than 85 degrees, how was that not clear? So after we replied to his email & complained that he never even spoke with us directly and that we'd be reviewing on Yelp, etc., we got this one back:

You don't have access to me. I am the owner of the company.
You can waste your time all you want to with BBB, Angie's List, or YELP. I will simply get them dismissed....I am one of their biggest advertisers.

When I first used Dayton they were good and I thought they were doing work for me and not just looking to make follow-on sales.  This past visit the tech spent an awful lot of time here mostly to write up his sales estimate and presentation..  I know my unit is old and should be replaced but the reason we have bi-annual service visits is to see how much life we can get out of old units.  He mentioned the coil was dirty.  In the past, techs always tell me they have cleaned the coil.  This one apparently didn't  I don't know what he did, really.  I think Dayton has turned into one of those low integrity companies that pays their techs partly based on how much follow-on sales they can generate.

I was referred to Dayton A/C by a friend and Coy did a great job.  He gave me the most reasonable quote.  He replaced my entire A/C unit and Furnace in a couple of hours and was very professional.  The unit works great.  I couldn't be happier with it.  I would recommend Dayton A/C to anyone.

Having your A/C go out in the middle of a brutal Texas summer is about as bad as it gets.  This has happened to me twice over the past few years.  On both occasions I called Dayton A/C, and Coy had me back up and running on the same day!  Being that I know absolutely nothing about A/C systems, and being that I was in a desperate position; he could have easily taken advantage of me (like most companies do), and charged me for a bunch of expensive replacement parts and labor.  Instead he found the most efficient and cost effective solution possible.  I would have gladly paid him much more than he billed for his prompt and professional service.

I'm a new Dayton customer and am very pleased with the service I received.  In particular, Eric was is great!.  He was on time, friendly and knowledgeable.  He found and repaired an issue that could result in a big problem down the road.  Have peace of mind now that is fixed.  I am looking forward to being a long term customer of Dayton.  I gave this a 4 instead of 5-star rating because of a scheduling issue that resulted in my first appointment having to be rescheduled a week later.  I expect that was an isolated case that is not the norm.

I would recommend Dayton over all prior HVAC providers I have used in last 20 years. They repaired AC two summers ago and this winter replaced heater and replaced the very old AC that they made survive an extra two years. I obtained quotes form two other HVAC companies before this last repair and their quote was the second lowest but the quality of the people I spoke with and the guys at the house was impressive. Smart articulate clean and knowledgeable. They did the work fast and clean up was excellent. Definitely give these folks an opportunity to show you what the can do. Highly recommended.

It had been 3 years since my home was built and I needed to have the regular seasonal maintanance performed on my AC system.

I heard about Dayton AC from a friend and gave them a call. Jessica was very professional and polite and set me up with an appointment.

The service technician gave me a courtesy call about 30 minutes before showing onsite to do the work. He did his checks and added some fluid to the AC system.

I'm not sure what he did to make my unit more quiet but I was used to the outside fan being pretty loud. He fixed that as well.

All in all it was a great experience and I would recommend them to anybody.

Dayton installed our ac unit Sept. 2012. Everything went smoothly and is in perfect working order. I was a little hesitant about using them at first because of a couple of reviews but decided to step out on faith since I was offered a great deal. Coy was there to answer any question that I had in what seemed like minutes after I sent them. Excellent communication!

I highly recommend Dayton A/C for install and maintenance. Coy and his crew put in a new system and they maintain it as well. The office staff, Jessica and Melissa, have been very responsive with our requests.  We had an emergency on a Sunday and Coy had Javier out to fix it. It is nice to know that we have a company we can rely on. This is an honest, reliable and reputable company.

Virgil was the tech that arrived to fix our air conditioner.  We had used them previously because the company that installed our system originally had overcharged the freon and Dayton informed us of this mistake.  I'm sure anyone can imagine the frustration of having a new system installed where you have spent thousands of dollars on it only to learn they overfilled the system.  This time when we had problems with the cooling we called them immediately.  They were not even open yet but called us back to say they would send a tech to fix is ASAP.  Virgil was the tech that came.  He explained that overfilling was a common error because it takes longer to do it correctly and most of the people who come to fix the AC are in a hurry to get to the next job.  I thought the latest problem was due to the mistake the first company made but Virgil diagnosed and repaired the issue in no time at all.  He also took the time to explain that the condensation pipe needed cleaning, took care of the problem and was finished in no time at all.  He was extremely courteous and very thorough.  I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dayton and, in particular, Virgil.  He was excellent!!!

If you read my previous review, you know that we were very satisfied at the time with the work that they did for us.  However, we are now selling this house and the inspection showed that there was no combustion air venting for our new system.  We were not only concerned but upset because 1) we had paid for a new system and 2) the inspectors and firemen we spoke with told us how dangerous it could be when the furnace is used over time and that this does not meet code.  Dayton's response to us was less than courteous or professional and quickly deteriorated.  We were told by Dayton that they did not put the combustion air in because the AC closet was too small and that it is nothing to be concerned about.  To make a long story short, we had the problem fixed by a different HVAC company.  While, yes our AC closet is small, the other HVAC company was able to come up with a way to incorporate the correct size combustion air vent and we now feel good that the new family living in our home will be safe.
