Joe Lillis is a plumber I've had now twice. He shows up on time. He is quick & efficient. He engaged a kitchen issue I had; was Finished and gone within 15 minutes. He's very sharp & knowledgeable, as well as professional. I wouldn't hesitate to use again or recommend. His prices are competitive, not cheap. But makes up for costs with speed & quality work.

They replaced a spigot on the side of my house, and then when a late cold snap caused it to bust - our mistake, had the hoses on for gardening - they patched it for free. They'll get all of my (hopefully infrequent) business.

These plumbers were fair and honest people. The master plumber Mary explained everything really well and they preformed a complete over-haul of our pipes within one day They we're by far the cheapest and did excellent work.

Bob is my hero. Seriously, he reminds me of my dad. He's probably the most honest, reasonable plumber/handyman/service provider I've ever worked with. I'm assuming part of the reason he can offer such affordable rates is because he's a little old school - no website, he doesn't do email or take credit cards. But you can call him on a Sunday, and if he's available, he'll come right out. No after hours or emergency fees like most companies charge.
My house in Roeland Park has renters, so before I found Bob - thanks to Yelp!! - it was a challenge fixing any plumbing issues from Denver. Other plumbing companies charged me $125 just to look at the problem. It was ridiculous. Bob will only do the work that's necessary and even throws in great advice or tools to help you maintain your house. (I have tree roots that get in the pipes, so Bob just gave my renters some liquid to pour down the drain every quarter and kill the tree roots).
I can't say enough good things about Bob. His business can't handle major plumbing issues, but if he can't fix the problem, he will refer you to someone who will fix the problem - for 1/2 the price (or less) of every other KC company I've contacted.
He is fantastic!! If you need a plumber, save yourself some time and money, and call Bob.

I called this plumber and when I told him my company name, he said not interested and hung up on me.

I felt compelled to write this, albeit belated, review. If you would have asked me a year ago, heck even 6 months ago, for a plumbing recommendation, it would have been Poor John's Plumbing. First let me say that any & all work ever done by Erik, and another plumber whose name escapes me right now, has been top notch. Excellent job done every time they came out. But, back in September, we had requested a bid for our latest plumbing job. As part of the progressive remodel on our 1972 house. Jake came out to look at the job needing to be done in the main bathroom, which was pretty similar to the job Erik had done previously in the 2nd bathroom. Said he would get the bid back to us in a few days to a week. So we waited, and waited, and you get the idea. Called & emailed back & forth several times with the very nice lady Jasmine, who is the owners wife, and who handles the administrative end of things. She had attempted to find out what was taking so long on our bid. Which by this point had been 2-3 weeks, she said he told her he was working on it. She apologized profusely, and said she would keep this on her radar. Another week, no bid, Jasmine stuck apologizing for Jake again. Another couple weeks, same thing. Then after well over a month, Jasmine, who I think gave up on trying to get Jake to get the bid, emailed us his phone # for us to contact Jake directly.
Good Morning,
I wanted to update you to let you know that I have yet to receive your bid from Jake for your property at ************ and have not received an eta from him.
Please feel free to call him at 816-***-**** to follow up on the status of your bid.
Thank you and I apologize that I have not been successful in getting the bid from Jake for you.

I have to say that I started out very pleased with LBA. My very old (ancient, actually) air conditioner went down when it was 90 degrees and LBA came out on a saturday and fixed it for about $100 buck. We have had a problem in 3 years.
Then I tried them at the business that I manage. It's a building with several air conditioners and there was always a $700 problem with one of them. FInally, the same tech we always get came to me at the end of the summer and said we had a $1200 problem with contactors, motors and a host of other things. I let it go since the weather was cooling down. And said that I had had it with LBA. I switched to another contractor who came back late the next spring, connected everything back together and I haven't had a problem with that unit for two years.
Sometimes I think those techs create work for themselves so they can be busy year round. The employer should watch out for that and LBA wasn't. You can't argue with my simply ignoring a $1200 repair and I haven't had a problem with that unit for two years.....

The tech I encountered is a shyster. Higher prices than most companies. Beware because they don't follow through. I know because I've been had by them.

The phone number on the website for the Lenexa location is incorrect. In fact, it is my home phone number and we have been receiving calls for them for several months. We have notified them numerous times of the error. While I continue to be polite to callers (after all, it isn't their fault they have the wrong number), I tell them to call one of the other numbers.

Plumber installed a bathroom sink, cut a 24x48 section of cabinet and sheet rock out of back. Nothing was done to replace the hole left in the back of bathroom cabinet as a result you can see daylight through opening from the adjacent room. The plumbers left the work area a mess including sheet rock chunks, dust, equipment etc. When asking the company representative to repair the cabinet I was met with a vulgar tirade in my home, a rude and unprofessional no not our problem.

The worst experience I have had with a contractor. He doesn't return calls, doesn't show up when he says, doesn't honor the price he states, and doesn't finish the job. Smokes on your property leaving cigarette butts for pets. Completely unprofessional. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

I had Katie's ASAP Plumbing (Shaun Sapp) come to fix my rental house drains and dishwasher (all was backed up because of renter). They did get there quick and I found out later just why. I talked to them both on the phone the first day and they were supposed to clear the drains that were backing up along with the dishwasher, but, there's still backup in both. I couldn't get to the house till two days later because I was sick, but, they didn't clear the basement drain or dishwasher. they were both stopped up when I got to the house. Apparently they didn't even look at the Dishwasher because I found out the next time I called to see when they were going to come fix the stuff Shaun Said they didn't get to that and since I didn't want they disconnecting it they didn't do any thing with it. They informed me after spending $800.00 (yes No Joke it was actually over 800 but what ever) they would not come back out and actually clear the drain with out charging me again. I called to talk to Katie Horner then Shawn Sapp they both were more than willing to come back out for another charge!!! Right Like I'm going to fall for that twice. No Thanks I'm getting someone who will not charge an arm and a leg and Actually do the work they say they will.
I will never use this company again and everyone I know I will make sure they know to BEWARE because its a big scam.

I suppose I will submit an older experience because it appears from some of the more recent reviews that this company has some serious ethical and accountability issues.
Sept of 2011 we purchased a new house in Johnson County KS. It came with a home warranty from AB May. In Spring of 2012, we had our AC unit serviced and we were sold a gold agreement. We had them come out on a few occasions for the standard $60 fee. The annual plan increased twice between 2012-2017.
They were always pushy on trying to up sell services after making a house call. For instance, they recommended buying a $60 bottle of drain cleaner to prevent clogs. Stating it was all natural. I've discovered I can spend $10, follow the directions and unclog all my drains whenever I want and I still have product to last another couple years. It was fifty fifty on the expertise level on what I expected and what I would receive. We gave a few 5 star work reviews but we also received our service fee back twice for poor performance.
So anytime you are giving a company hard earned money and expect good work then it's not difficult to wonder why half the time the work was good. It never dawned on me that if they screw up on simple fixes then perhaps they have little credibility on big issues.
For instance, we had a water softener installed. Come to find out it has power but that's it. A real plumber took a look at the device and said it's non-operable. They are great salesmen but horrible at installing water softener.
Then we had a furnace issue. They told us the gas line was leaking. Told us could get someone out that day cause it's an emergency but just 30 minutes earlier they said the furnace fan was inoperable and the part would take a few days. So after talking with their sales guy I declined to purchase a $9500 system. I had a real hvac guy come out and he said if you don't smell gas then you don't have a leak. It was a ploy to get us to fear the worse and we realized AB May and it's owner are in the business to trick customers into believing the worst just to keep them in business. Turns out only the furnace blower switch was bad. We optioned to have a brand new system put in for $7500 by Patriot Heating/Cooling (Shawnee) and our top AC bill was only $175 last summer and our gas bill has averaged $110/mo during winter months.
That's not all. They signed my signature without my knowledge on two separate occasions. I asked the first time why it happened and the worker said because they have commercial accounts that they can't begin the work until they get a signature. I'd say those commercial accounts are too trusting. If AB May is lying to its private customers just imagine what their commercial accounts don't know!
The owner and I exchanged a few emails but the response each time was basically we condone dishonesty but we don't see what we did wrong but we will make it right if you tell us. Believe me I have stacks and stacks of documentation of how they lied, forged my signature and attempted to bait me into buying one of their whole systems. They like playing games but eventually they will lose.
Stay as far away as possible from this outfit. Did you know Berkshire Hathaway now has a partnership with this company?
