I had to replace my 22-year old HVAC - and 35-year old H2O heater at the same time - mainly because of the tight space the mechanical equipment is located in. Over the years I've used another local HVAC/plumbing company for the tune-ups and repairs, but I got multiple estimates for this job. I had no experience with LBA, however after much research, I chose them. Their price was competitive, and customer reviews seemed very good. Their team definitely had the expertise, and the installation greatly exceeded my expectations. I would recommend LBA to anyone!

This buisness will rip you off! It's like buying a car. They must work on commission. They will always find something wrong. They told me I needed a new air conditioner so I called for a second opinion. The new guy told me LBA put to much freon in it.

They charge 3 times what the job is worth. We did not use them. Their quote was exhorbitant.
Today, 3/2/2023, I had the worst, and only bad, experience with LBA Heating and Cooling I've ever had. After years of quality work, quick and accurate communications, this visit changed everything.
I called to schedule a kitchen faucet installation and furnace checkup and got it scheduled 3 days later. I asked about pricing for both and received a price on the furnace but only a callout fee on the faucet. I was told they could not quote faucet installs over the phone and the callout fee would be waived if I had the faucet installed, I scheduled both for the next morning.
Both techs were on time with calls ahead to make me aware of their arrival time. I got both techs working on what needed to be done and began discussing prices on furnace and faucet. The furnace was $47 (per coupon) per unit of which I have 2, the unquoted faucet turns out to be $500 with a $120 callout fee, so with the waived fee a total of $559 for just the faucet.
I took exception to faucet install price and began to understand why it was not quoted over the phone, for me it became a $120 donation for a callout that would never have happened had I had even an estimate told to me over the phone. For the record, this install is in an open, 3.5 year old home, clean kitchen, no obstructions, and easy access to all connections. If you ask, 'why not do it yourself?', primarily because of a hip operation 4.5 weeks ago, but once I heard LBA's price, I paid $120 and asked them to leave, grabbed my tools, and with great care, I did it myself in less than an hour and a half.
In summary, I have no problems with the techs, they were professional, timely, and the furnace was completed and charged as quoted. The plumber called his manager who offered a price of $459 which I still found to be high, and the tech moved on to his next appointment. The lasting feeling of being ambushed still haunts me. A minimum quote for any install could have been shared, a minimum and/or maximum, but to offer nothing until you're locked into a 'callout' fee of $120 upon hearing a quote of $500 in your home became a bitter pill to swallow.
You would think a heat cartridge for a shower would be a simple fix. Guy told me they don't make those heat cartridges anymore and it would need a whole new valve to support new cartridge. A couple days after he messed with old valve, it started leaking. Someone came out at 730pm to fix leak. Put way too much piping dough but stopped the leak. I was so fed up, I went with another company to fix it. Turns out they DO make that heat cartridge still. So thought it was gonna be simple. Turns out it was leaking because Lba guy cracked the check value and put a piece in backwards. So now it's going to cost me way more than it should have. Thanks for screwing me over LBA.
Btw go with mr plumber. They have good plumbers that know what they're doing!

I have to say that I started out very pleased with LBA. My very old (ancient, actually) air conditioner went down when it was 90 degrees and LBA came out on a saturday and fixed it for about $100 buck. We have had a problem in 3 years.
Then I tried them at the business that I manage. It's a building with several air conditioners and there was always a $700 problem with one of them. FInally, the same tech we always get came to me at the end of the summer and said we had a $1200 problem with contactors, motors and a host of other things. I let it go since the weather was cooling down. And said that I had had it with LBA. I switched to another contractor who came back late the next spring, connected everything back together and I haven't had a problem with that unit for two years.
Sometimes I think those techs create work for themselves so they can be busy year round. The employer should watch out for that and LBA wasn't. You can't argue with my simply ignoring a $1200 repair and I haven't had a problem with that unit for two years.....
Really bad experience with these guys a while back. Was seriously over charged for a part and labor. Ended up cancelling my service contract. There are many other mom & pop AC companies out there that will treat you like a human and not an ATM.

Positive: here's the good - The lady who I spoke with was friendly and offered early availability for an appointment, saying visit would be $90. The gentleman who came was kind and courteous. As a sensitive health member during the Coronavirus, I had asked if they wore protection and they said they did. Justin more a mask and gloves and even wiped down surfaces he touched with disinfectant wipes.
Negative: the business practice of finding problems vs solving problems and offering package solutions to small problems. I had a bidet set that had all instructions and parts and claimed to be a 10 minute install on a toilet. I was unable to install this myself. The price for them to install? $265. In fact, that appears to be the lowest price they offer for any work done. I had them look at another toilet under the lid as it appeared to have old parts and they recommended a new toilet at the top package option (over $1200) and $265 to replace the two small items that needed replacing (estimated under $10 for parts. Which means, this business has found that cushioning simple orders to a base package price helps their business but serves to overcharge the customer. The saddest part is that I have to limit who comes into my home as a sensitive member in the health community during a pandemic and can't have other estimates to get the work done. Little would I expect that a simple task would be so exorbitant. :-(

Estimate not even close to the actual repair. However, the tech that came out was outstanding! Friendly, fast, and efficient.
I called LBA on a late Saturday afternoon for emergency drain service and was told a technician would be on the way shortly. 6 hours later I am still waiting for the tech to show up, despite repeated phone calls asking for an ETA and being assured over and over one would be calling me shortly.
Not a good situation and I would have called a different company had I known this would occur. I needed emergency service and this has turned into a disaster as it is now midnight with limited options at this point - and sewage is still coming into my basement. Ugh. Not a good experience and do not recommend LBA.
Follow up - LBA never showed up as promised. Even received a text confirming appointment after initial call was made. Finally received a call the next day saying they were now ready to send someone out. Can't speak to the quality of actual service but from a communication and being wives when you need it most standpoint, I would give zero stars if that was an option.

Confirmed online appointment and the technicians arrived as scheduled. They were able to give us several options and were able to fix the air conditioner within the hour. Great company to work with.
I just wanted to let people know how happy I have been with the service (both regular maintenance and problem solving) I have received from LBA over the years. I have had work done incorrectly by other individuals and I have learned my lesson! LBA has had to come in and fix the mistakes that others have done. Going forward I will stick with LBA to ensure the work is done right the first time!
The various people that have been sent to my house over the years have always been considerate, hard working and very straightforward with their evaluation and solutions. I highly recommend them.
June in Kansas is not the ideal time to lose your air conditioning. When ours went out, we contacted three local companies. Within an hour, we had a response from LBA and within four hours, the AC unit was up and running again. The fix was simple, but nothing I would have been able to identify or handle easily. Our tech had found the fault and was able to replace the dead capacitor with a new one he had in stock in the truck within fifteen minutes.
He also provided a good bit of advice on how to best maintain the unit and even knew how old it was (were new to the house).
I highly recommend LBA for AC service!
I live in a townhouse in one of the middle units. My neighbor needed her sewer line replaced and hers ties into the mine about 6 or 8 feet into my basement. LBA told me they needed to access her line by jackhammering up my basement floor. The alternative was to tunnel under my house which wasn't something I would have wanted, either (though they never actually offered me that option, I only learned of it later). I was freaking out because we were in the middle of a DIY basement remodel. We were halfway through laying a new floor so that my daughter could move in and her lease was almost up. Plus I had two other highly stressful things going on at the same time so it was basically a perfect storm. Still, I wanted to help out my neighbor so I agreed. After I agreed, the salesperson told me I'd have to pay $4500. I don't have $4500 just lying around but was so stressed at that point, I agreed to whatever would get this over with the quickest as again, the clock was ticking and they were about to jackhammer up my basement that needed to be move in ready in two weeks. The salesman assured me on Thursday that it would likely be done by end of the day on Friday and we could start laying the floor again on Sunday. When I asked the workers the next day if they were going to be done that day, they looked shocked I would even think that. All told, it took a full week to finish the work and then another couple of days for the concrete to cure before we could start laying the floor again. It wasn't until maybe a week later when things were starting to finally settle down that I realized how insane it was that they told me I had to pay for my neighbor's repair and how foolish I had been to agree to it. Plus, she had to pay far more than I did for the repairs on her side. The one positive thing I can say is the workers were lovely. They were very pleasant and polite. However, I would never hire LBA to do ANYTHING in my home nor would I agree to any repairs they were doing for my neighbor that required they access my home. If they need to access that line again....they can start tunneling.

My AC died during the 100 degree heat wave. I called LBA and they were out at 7:30 am the next morning. Great. Repairman Jon told me the unit was beyond repair and gave me an estimate of $3250 to replace. I paid him $89 and then had friend of a friend stop by to confirm before we spent the big bucks. He oiled the fan motor and I had AC in 10 minutes. We replaced the motor the next day unit is working great.
I contacted LBA and explained what had transpired. Roger did the right thing and apologized and refunded my $89. For that I am appreciative. If you use this company get a second opinion before shelling out big money and don't let Jon on your property.
LBA has been my HVAC techs for over a decade. All techs have been courteous and provide explanations that are easily understood.
I tried several heating and cooling companies and always felt like I was getting ripped off. HOWEVER, after LBA gave me a second opinion on some work, I was so pleased that they not only got my business, I immediately signed up for their Planned Maintenance Agreement.
Get this - they even send a postcard when it's time for a spring or fall checkup and it's noted on the card that the service is part of the agreement and there's no additional charge.
They've been great when it comes to very late afternoon or Saturday appointments. And, no, they don't give you the runaround of We'll be there sometime between 8 and 5. You get a 2 hour window and they call before the tech arrives.
The office staff is helpful and friendly. Their technicians are top-notch and do their utmost to respect your home. (Booties!)
They have my business for life and I don't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
I typically don't give five star reviews. I think that there's always room for improvement. I apologize for the length of this review but I think it's important to share all the steps and why LBA checked all of the boxes.
During the first cold snap this year (2017) I went to fire up the furnace for the first time and realized there was a problem. (I won't get in to the home warranty company issues.)
The wife and I decided to go ahead and replace our aged HVAC system. After a lot of research I called 3 HVAC companies for quotes. We called
1. Company 1 (too busy with a home show to come and give us a timely quote. 5 day wait)
2. Company 2 came by and the sales rep just pointed his flashlight into our crawlspace but never went in to take a look at what exactly needed to be done and then gave me a quote for almost 10k for the lowest end Lennox system(no options).
3. LBA came out the first thing Scott McKinley did was go in to our crawlspace and assess exactly what would be entailed. Scott was knowledgeable about the city codes and explained what they would need to correct with a new HVAC. When we got back upstairs Scott asked a few questions to ascertain our needs and prepared two quotes that covered the range of our budget, each quote contained 3 system options from high to low.
He quoted for a new Lennox HVAC. The same system that Company 2 quoted and it was 3k less and he also quoted a Ruud HVAC system(made by Rheem).
We decided to go with the Ruud(Rheem Product) because of research, Consumer Reports and best bang for our budget buck.
Installation: LBA showed up early on the agreed upon day. Chris was our installation tech and completed the work within the promised time. Chris was also knowledgeable and answered all of the additional questions I had. A couple of days later we had the city inspection and there were a couple of items that needed to be completed before the city would pass the inspection. One of those items would have been beyond the scope of a normal installation. However, LBA was on top of it! I can't stress this enough. They were clear in communicating how they were going to resolve the issue, scheduled a time when they would be out to correct them and showed up on time.
LBA gets 5 stars for
Promptness, completing the work on time, showing up when they say they would, Coming in on budget(no surprises) Professional and Knowledgeable Sales and Installation staff and doing the work to provide us options within our budget. We couldn't be happier!

Fantastic service!
From Darrell (salesman) to Bo & Jim (installers) the entire process went smooth. Had new AC / Heater / Humidifier installed along with some new duct work and the guys did a great job. They were on time and were done in just a few hours.
I would give these guys a call if you are looking at replacing your AC / Heater. Excellent service, very knowledgable.
LBA replaced the entire furnace and A/C in one of my rental properties. Scott, one of the managers was great, very responsive, easy to talk to, and to my knowledge everything was installed properly. However, I called in for another property and set up an appointment with a lady called Sandy. She's always appeared a bit rude and bossy. By the way, I am the client not one of her workers. A long story short, they left my tenant waiting, never placed a courtesy call or left a voice mail. They have my email from previous communications, they could have also email me. Nonetheless, I called two weeks after to check on what happened. I wanted to make sure they would take care of my problem. I understand, they're busy, but given the circumstances, I expected them to take care of it asap. Mind you, I've already paid close to $5K for a previous installation. This lady, Sandy, got upset because I said you dropped the ball, I would expect better service. A long story short, they just lost a client and I went with another provider a bit more customer service oriented. Don't take me wrong, Scott was awesome. But the office itself needs some training on how to treat clients.
Would give zero stars if possible. Do not trust this company.
My son's furnace stop running. The first technician told him there was a carbon monoxide level issue. Shut down the furnace, turned off the gas, turned off the pilot and put a warning sticker on the furnace that is was unsafe.
Then quoted $6000 to fix and brought in another sales technician that said you should replace just the furnace for options of $12-$15,000. This is for a 2700 square foot home.
We called another company out who turned the furnace back on and said nothing was wrong and cleaned and put in a new filter for $70.
Called in to the Supervisor who tried to spin what his technician said that the carbon monoxide was internally and no threat only if the furnace split open which is true with any furnace when they go bad. Said they could fix for $2-3,000. Amazing how the numbers keep changing.
Very dishonest at best. Feel sorry for seniors citizens that would fall for this con.
I will never use this company again as they tried to take advantage of a new home buyer.

Get a second opinion! I had LBA come for my annual furnace check and he told me my water heater had a gas leak and I needed to replace the whole unit immediately. Current sale for $1,000. Had someone else come look at it and everything was fine! No leaks. Will never use them again.
Zack B. Provided great and prompt service. The customer service reps scheduling were also very courteous. Thank you.
Hunter was one of the best servicemen I have had in my home. He was training a new guy and was so good about explaining everything to him. My reason for the service call was for a leaking valve on the line going into my water heater. It was the most simple fix, tightening a nut. I was embarrassed that I didn't know to do that, but he was great about it. Rather than just charging me and being on his way, he offered to check anything else with my plumbing. He helped educate me on all of my water lines and valves and what they were for. He checked my sump pump that was questionable after the runs we had a few weeks ago. He explained how all of that type of system works. He really earned his money on that call and was so professional throughout it all! I would want Hunter specifically to come back when my water heater needs to be changed which could be soon
Hot, tired & cranky. And Hot. Did I mention Hot ? I mean, cranky and tired are a given for me, but the hot thing is totally unacceptable. Yeesh ! I'm spoiled for Shyt sake ! So, you just know it's gonna be a crappy day when you wake up so hot that your hair is plastered to the side of your head, and the air conditioning is blowin' warm air. Yay.
I called numerous places and heard we can't be there until Friday or Saturday. What ? But, I'm hot ! (insert whiney girl voice here ;p). I was about to concede that since everyone was so swamped ( it IS hot out & a/c's are failing everywhere ), I was just gonna have to suck it up, and wait. I just happened to come across the LBA Heroes ad in the phone book just before I closed it. You know them. They have the trucks with the guy holding the plunger and is wearing a cape. Anyhoo, I decided to make one last call and I'm ever so glad I did.
The lovely lady on the other end of the phone said Yes, they could get me in today, and even said they'd call me before the tech headed for my home so I could stay at work ! Yay ! And don't forget the coupon on our website! she says. Awesome. The guy shows up nice, polite and with little surgical bootie covers over his shoes as to not track up my house. Sweet. He explains what he'll be doing and will give me a written estimate for my approval before he does anything. Nice. He offers me plans for a furnace check up in the fall and a plumbing evaluation. I jumped on it, my plumbing sux. He had my air running in no time and damned if it didn't freeze me out during the night. Cool. No pun intended.
Me does the Happy Girl Dance.
They got to our house as quickly as they could, and the technician diagnosed the problem within minutes of gaining access to the AC unit. Nick was awesome, and deserves a day or two off! PAID!!! Thank you Nick!

I would definitely call LBA for furnace and ac needs again.

Zach S. came over to my house and installed a steam humidifier. He did a great job on keeping me informed on the work. Very polite and professional. Price was very fair. Will definitely use LBA again.
I recieved a call from a tenant that her toilet was backing up into her bathtub. I phoned LBA Air Conditioning Heating and Plumbing. I requested they unclog the drain. I also indicated recently my tenant had told me the pop off valve on her hot water heater had occasionally begun leaking and her pipes had begun rattling when she turned on her kitchen sink. LBA indicated they would look at all items. They phoned my tenant promptly and a technician (Craig) arrived within a few minutes. He phoned me and indicated he had troubleshot the items and had pricing. He indicated the clog was under the toilet and he would need to pull the toilet and auger the drain. The price was just over 600.00.The kitchen sink faucet needed replacement (595.00) and the expansion tank on the hot water heater was bad and needed replacement (around 500.00 I believe). The three items together were 1700.00 and some odd dollars. We told Craig we would address these items on our own. My husband drove over and unclogged the drain in 10 minutes. The house trap in the outside utility room was clogged. My husband was the original installer of the expansion tank. They cost about 40.00 and take a few minutes to install. I do not know what type of kitchen faucet they were planning on installing but these are efficiency apartments. They were prompt. The troubleshooting was incorrect and the pricing was shocking. I left a message on their voicemail requesting a return of my 89.00 service charge. I will be disputing the charge. I will not be calling LBA again.
Follow Up: Roger with LBA phoned me immediately. He indicated he would remove the 89.00 service charge from my credit card. He also told me he had spoken with the plumbing manager about the issue.
Superb plumbing services
They are providing fast , clean and reliable plumbing services. They can find solution for any of your plumbing issues. Whenever I need any plumbing service I always called them.
Nick Larkins at LBA air conditioning is AWESOME! LBA was my parent's choice and now they're my choice! Nick is professional and helpful! He has been to my home several times and now we know and trust him. I appreciate the calls to let me know when they will arrive. The maintenance plan keeps my air conditioner/furnace operating efficiently. I trust LBA to advise me and do it right the first time! There are many companies to choose from but staying loyal to LBA is easy since they treat customers like family! Savannah V.

Angelena with LBA is a great asset to LBA. I had flooding and a dead Sump Pump. She was calm and reassuring that they could take care of this. I replaced my single sump pump with a battery back up , sump pump. I know it's not cheap, but even doing it yourself isn't. I will sleep tonight and I say bring on the storms , I'm ready!
Our a/c went out at 3:30 am today. We called at 3:30 am and again at 5 am and were told they would page someone. We finally got a call they would let us know if they could fix our a/c today. They finally called back at 8:10 am and said they would be out between 1-4 pm. It's 4:40 pm right now and no calls and no service person. We called someone else and they are fixing our a/c right now. Very disappointed that on a very hot day, no response and they advertise as being open 24/7; that's why we picked them & made a call. Our poor pets have been home all day in a warm house. Luckily, I left the blinds closed so this helped some.
*****My husband did speak to your technician shortly after 5pm but we had already found an alternative. Thanks for responding back and please keep people informed of any delays.

LBA Heating and Cooling does a good job, HOWEVER, their pricing system is a myriad of PACKAGES that do NOT give the price of the component replaced or the labor on the job. NOW, they either believe that their clients can't comprehend the HVAC jargon or they shouldn't worry their pretty little heads but rather pick one of their shiny expensive packages OR they are playing a game of hide the numbers. My mom used them to put in several systems BUT I'm seriously considering another company. If you're looking, I'd look elsewhere.

Okay, these guys ARE heroes.
My heat went out on Tuesday. Saw a good Yelp review Wednesday morning, and the serviceman was here at 1:00. My 22-year old Lennox furnace was DOA, and possibly trying to poison us with carbon monoxide...it is now 27 hours later, and I have a complete new high-efficiency HVAC system up and running.
Everyone I dealt with was a complete professional. They call before they come, and they show up on time. All the utility rebates were applied up front, and LBA took care of sending in for the manufacture's rebate. They explained everything and set up a service call in a couple of weeks to make sure everything's working right and that I'm satisfied. They cleaned up and finished about 2 hours ahead of schedule.
And they sell Lennox. Did I mention the last one lived for 22 years? I'm doin' a Happy Girl Dance, too!

We've used LBA exclusively for 30+ years and been happy til now. They've increased their prices to 4-6x higher. They wanted up to $600 to replace a sink gasket, No Joke! We can no longer afford them. :(
LBA has responded quickly to our needs for our home and our business. We appreciate all they do to keep us 'cool' in the summer and 'warm' in the winter!
Needed same day service and they were great. Very nice and professional when I called, and they were able to get someone out at a reasonable cost. The tech was very knowledgeable and finished the repair quickly. Would recommend LBA!!
Good service
Nick was very pleasant and took the time to show me how to use my humidifier this winter. Had some water damage a few weeks ago inside my furnace and he checked every thing out to make sure everything was working properly.

Would give0 stars if I could. Bought a brand new AC unit from Keith 2 years ago. This yr it stopped blowing cold air. The repairman says it will cost an additional $2500 as the broken part is not under warranty, as it was not replaced with the rest of the unit as it should have been. Nobody ever mentioned this when selling me the new unit as I was under the impression it had all been replaced. Just paid off the $4000 for the unit, now they want another $2500 to get it working again. Avoid this mafia-like company, terrible installation and customer service!

It's never cheap to have a plumbing repair, but with LBA the prices are fair. I live in an old house and come across issues I can't fix myself. I've felt like other plumbers just wanted me to put their kids through college. LBA gives you options at a fair price.
They send you a picture of the plumber that is coming before he gets there. I've had three different guys. They are always knowledgeable and pleasant. This is the company to call if you want respectable gentleman. Also they waive the service call fee if you chose to repair.
I do not recommend this company. They came in and charged me $1500.00 to fix my heat pump and said that there was a 1 year warranty on the work. This heat pump is only seven years old. After working for three days it broke down.. They came in and told me that it was a different part in the heat pump that was not included in the years warranty and that they thought they might be able to bypass the situation for over more than $400. I asked them what happens in another few weeks if it breaks down again. The technician said that I would not believe how many parts were in a heat pump and that they could not tell me how many of these parts would break down. I guess there is really no warranty on their work. I am calling another company.
Unfortunately, we didn't have a good experience in working with this company, so I don't recommend LBA for HVAC commercial maintenance. Here is why.
- They left HVAC panels open and laying on the ground exposing all the wiring to the rain and environment.
- On another unit, the maintenance person did not bring the right filter sizes and left to go get the right sizes and left the unit open for 2 days and the rain got inside and damaged the interior ceiling causing us more repair expense
- Every time they went to perform maintenance, something happens to break right at the time they were there on the spot. Last one of the motors failed they told us at the time workers are there.
- They charged us for maintenance on units they claim did not work. And ended up threatening to send us to collection if we did not pay (after cancelling our contract)
- Under no circumstances would ever recommend this company to anyone for their level of customer service, services on maintenance or professionalism.
