Enjoyed a small bath remodel. William happened to be at house to provide estimate while my contractor was placing pedestal sink in planned spot. William, whom I've had the pleasure of having do prior work, communicated with other contractor regarding placing of pedestal to minimize extra plumbing work and proper placement of pedestal sink. I hired him right there before his quote and after he provided quote was same price as another quote I received.

Thanks William. I'll stick with him and Stephens for my plumbing needs.

We knew we had a leak somewhere, but we had no idea where - we could just hear it running somewhere under the house. Galan and Arturo from Stephens Plumbing came out to look for the leak and found that most of the pipes were either already leaking in multiple areas or in imminent danger of starting to spray like the leak we'd originally heard. They did a thorough inspection, taking pictures and video to show us exactly what they were seeing under the house. They gave us a couple quotes -- explained the quick, short-term fix (that would solve the immediate need) and then the more comprehensive solution that would save us in the long run. After a lot of thought on our part (and a lot of gracious patience on their part), we had them do a horizontal repipe, along with a drain repair they discovered during their initial inspection, and replace our regulator to keep the water pressure down and our garbage disposal which was also having issues.

There was a lot of work to be done and they did it efficiently with extreme professionalism. They took care to work with our schedule and keep in constant communication. They checked in with us throughout the day, always confirming it was okay to turn off the water before they did it, letting us know what they'd completed that day, making sure we had water overnight, and always explaining exactly what they were doing and why.

I am confident they did lasting, quality work that will save us in the long run. Homeownership is a journey... and it's great to know this local company is available 24/7 for any surprises and for any planned work we want to do in the future. Thank you, Galan and Arturo!

I had a great experience with Stephens. Believe it or not, I had called and scheduled appointments with two other HVAC companies: one never showed and the other was going to arrive two hours after normal business hours. Omar arrived on time, explained things thoroughly, and came up with solutions that worked for us. Alex and Oscar were friendly, professional and efficient - they did great work! Responsive, affordable, and professional.

I've called on this company twice in the past 9 months to inspect my DIY Mini-Split A/C installation once after my first unit install and again after I finished the 4th.

They were one of the few companies that would give me a pretty detailed quote over the phone and they were by far the most affordable.

I was pleased to see the same tech, Matt, return for my second call today. He inspected my system, topped off my refrigerant, and got my heating working again in under an hour. The fact that he was onsite by 2pm when I called them this morning is awesome. I even received a confirmation call that he was on his way from their office.

Matt answered all the questions I threw at him and provided the requested feedback on how I did on my DIY install.

They are my go to company for all heating, cooling, and plumbing needs.

We have had the same pesky kitchen sink problem since we moved into our new townhome in 2019. Every time it has backed up, I've called Stephens Plumbing and I've never been disappointed.

It backed up on us just this past week (on my birthday no less) and they sent the gentlemen of their technicians Galan and Arturo. Super polite, fast, and efficient. You'd be lucky to have them walk through your front door.

As always, there was super clear communication from dispatch as to when I could expect my plumber to arrive, and my sink is running beautifully. No complaints.

I have happily been doing good reviews for Stephens. Then I hired them to replace a Mixet shower valve wirh a HandGrohe. This on a tile wall. I think my complaint is based on the installation sequence being done in reverse and cause layers of rework and trips to the shop.

That was done ok if not quite sealed according to spec's in the install doc. And decorative parts were swapped with old on another bathroom. At first when I repeatedly request brushed nickel, chrome were installed - and that at the last minute cause a panic run to Home Depot.

The bill was $2,912. For a shower fixture. No warning and a claim I was getting a break on a $3,500 bill.

Outrageous. I paid it. But looking elsewhere.

We needed a drain unclogged in the bathroom sink. Called Stephens. Manuel came out and did a great job for us. Even pointed out how the trap was corroded and we replaced that too before it started leaking. We found Manuel to be very knowledgeable and very helpful. Louie too. Cleaned up very well. Had a great experience w/ Stephens replacing my HVAC unit! I used their services years ago for plumbing and trusted they could get the job done. They provided a VERY reasonable quote in a decent timeframe and were able to setup everything within a few days, and I liked that labor came w/ a 3 yr warranty. The thing happened again. I get the third degree and no calls returned . I tried to talk to technician (plumber) and office and got hostile response. Do you want to schedule for the repairs from the estimate or not

I was trying to explain I've been trying and don't understand the lack of fallow through. I've made other arrangements again.

Stephens Plumbing was responsive via phone, scheduled a site visit quickly and arrived on time. All great.

Where my review took a turn was the quote received for the removal and install of new toilets. After our early mornjng site visit, we were later in the day quoted over $1,000 per basic toilet (purchase from their supply house, transport, install). This was not a Toto or bidet toilet. Not gold plated. A basic 2 piece toilet, nothing fancy. A toilet with these specs goes for $200 at Lowes or Home Depot.

Decide for yourself if $1,000 per toilet, all in, is reasonable. We sure do not think so. We have found another local plumber who will do all required for install and all in cost (we are purchasing toilets for install ourself) will be less than half of this quote.

We had an issue that required a gas trap on our property. Went as far as laying them out with schematics, scope of work, and time to assess the work that we were requesting.

Stevens Plumbing sent out a tech on Thursday, surveyed the property for close to an hour. We asked them to send a quote for the work so we can compare with other companies in the area (btw, Roto-Rooter came out on property the next day, turned in their quote within a day). It's been close to a week, and no follow-up. So I called three times after waiting for a week, and the lady promised me they would call back with some information or a quote. NOTHING. As a matter of fact, it was met with an attitude which I did not appreciate at all. I was cordial as much as possible, but ended up with an surprising attitude, and quite frankly, was very unprofessional. Was offended by the treatment that I was given.

Do yourself a favor, if you have any plumbing issues, call Roto-Rooter or Jackson Plumbing, save yourself a headache from dealing with Stevens Plumbing.

I'm very satisfied with the work Galan and Arturo from Stephens did to replace ancient cast iron drain pipes in my house. I had a leak under my house which, on inspection, was part of a much larger problem with old, corroded cast iron pipes. Galan did a great job patiently, and clearly explaining, then demonstrating out the problems. Although extensive pipe replacement work needed to be done, I felt no pressure to do anything I wasn't comfortable with, as Galan's explanation of what needed to be done and what could wait was very clear.

Through the process, Galan and Arturo were very responsive and sensitive to my needs as well as the other tenants in the house. At various times, the water needed to be shut off, and they were very communicative about the timing as well as keeping the down time to a minimum. Additionally they worked quickly and without complaint in very cramped conditions under the house.

I highly recommend Galan, Arturo and Stephens for any plumbing issue you come across.

We had an emergency situation where our garbage disposal stopped working and water backed up into the kitchen sink and also into the sink of a bathroom at the back of the house. I chose this company based on Yelp reviews. They called me back quickly, and were very professional over the phone. Sebastian came out the same day.

He was prompt and spent quite a bit of time trying to identify the problem. He wound up being here (unobtrusively) for HOURS, bringing 3 different machines and also calling a colleague to come help. He was determined to find out the source of the problem.

Ultimately, he determined that we needed to have an exterior clean-out installed. He made it clear that he could not guarantee that the pipes would not ultimately need replacement but recommended the cleanout as the next course of action.

Throughout the entire time, they were here both men were respectful of me and my home. They put on boot covers they had brought with them and cleaned up before they left.

Sebastian gave us an estimate for parts and labor for the cleanout installation, and after discussing it we agreed to undertake the work. Of course, on the scheduled day, the skies opened and it rained solidly the entire time. It was cold. This was all during the time when it rained non-stop and was an atmospheric river here in our area. Sebastian worked outside the entire time, uncomplainingly. The weather was so awful it probably made him sick afterwards but he plugged away and solved the problem.

He always explained to us exactly what he saw, next steps and alternatives.

The prices were reasonable, in line with the estimate and he left my house immaculate, including mopping up, before he left.

I have a different emergency and will be calling them back. Honest, hardworking, determined, reasonably priced, respectful and excellent at diagnosing and solving the problem after doing whatever it took. So impressive! Call them first for your plumbing needs. You won't be disappointed.

FYI, we are in the South Bay, not SF as the app incorrectly states.

I don't think I can say enough about this company. This is my second review. And EVERY TIME I get exceptional service I will be doing another review. From the employees who make the appt to Oscar. This company delivers A+ service. Oscar knows what he's talking about. And if there is not work that needs to be done. He's honest and won't make something up. I appreciate that in a service repair progressional. As I stated before and will be saying again. He is the only service maintenance person I'll be using for my Hvac and furnace needs.

I called Stephens plumbing because they were recommended by a company who came into my house to detect a leak in my cement slab. This other company left detailed information of where they detected the leak and said that Stephens plumbing would know exactly what needed to be done. Stephens plumbing sent out a technician named Recco.I will not get into how my mother Inlaw feels about this technician and his rude conduct because I was not there. However, what I can speak about is the handwritten unintelligible note he left. I believe a company with high yelp reviews and a decent reputation would leave a hand written note for a quote.

I called the company and requested a formal quote the following day. The said Recco would give me a call back. Well, he never did, and to this day I have not received a call back from Stephens plumbing or a formal quote.

Long story short, I will not be using this company. Good luck.

Oscar from Stephens Plumbing and Heating came out to my mother-in-laws in Bellflower and was nothing short of amazing! You always worry about someone getting taken advantage of, not here! Stephens plumbing/heating IS AWESOME! They came out and diagnosed our heater issue and it was fixed within 1.5 hours. I called this morning and the gentleman said a tech would be here within the hour. He was! Tech showed up promptly. Mask on, very helpful and polite. Thumbs up.

We called this company to fix our AC at work. We had 2 other companies out that told us we had major problems and gave us really high quotes. Stephens Plumbing and Heating came out and diagnosed the problem and fixed it for a lot less than the other guys and turns out we didn't need all the other expensive work that the other guys quoted. Thank you to Omar and Oscar for getting our AC working again so quickly and honestly.

With an issue I had. I thought we had a leak in my condo. First we had Williams and Christian out to check the washer and make sure that wasn't the problem. Williams made sure it was not to do
With the washer. Then I had Galan and Christian come to check. They moved out the washer and checked the surrounding area. Galan answered all my questions and gave me insight on what the problem could be. There was not a leak after all
But I appreciate the time and care they gave to my issue. I have peace of mind now and that it is not a bigger issue behind the wall or work any piping.

My HVAC system has been giving me problems this year and I had disappointing experiences with the first two companies I hired. I'm so relieved to have found Stephens Plumbing & Heating. I called them and the scheduler was able to give me a same day appointment with Omar. After inspecting my furnace, Omar gave me a detailed explanation of why my heat had stopped working and showed me pictures of the damage. He had a replacement part in his truck and was able to repair the unit right away. The price was very reasonable and included a 1-year warranty on the replacement part. I'm extremely satisfied with the service I received and plan to contact this company again if I have issues in the future.

When it rains it pours, is how the old saying goes and it's raining at our house right now.
In the last 4-5 months, we've had issues with sump pump replacement, AC Fan/Capacitor, AC Fan and a few main line overflows which is how we found out about the Much Bigger problem called
Main Line Sewer Liner to replace our
100 year old, original sewer line made of clay and Now, full of roots and partially collapsed!! We had two other companies bid on fixing the problem and Stephens got the job. They were the cheapest, and we trust this company, and have given them a lot of business in the last 4years.
They answer their phones, they show up when they say they will, their technicians are knowledgeable, friendly & clean.
Anyway, this job is expensive to do and if you wait too long, it gets even
MORE EXPENSIVE!!!
Stephens Plumbing helped us with financing this project and now we're good and don't have to worry for a long time.

Galan for all their input and hard work on this project and Jeannette too!
When the job was finished, it was cleaned up and all trash was taken away.
I do Highly Recommend them for any kind of plumbing work, including AC/Heating.

Another good experience with Stephens Plumbing. This time, Rico was our plumber. The water heater pilot light went out. The heater is 11 years old, so we were worried we would have to get it replaced. Rico was able to re-light it, but we were worried why it went out in the first place. So we paid more to have the burner cleaned out. It seems to be staying on, so we have our fingers crossed that it will last a few more years. It was nice that he didn't just push us to replace the water heater, which would be really expensive.

We have used Stevens plumbing for many years and been happy but we called them to come hook up a Faucet in our bathroom and they tried to charge us $875. We refused this and called another plumber. Their competitor charged us $350 .I don't know what was wrong with the guy that they sent. I feel like he charged us by our zip code and our age or maybe he didn't really want to do the job and he quoted a very unreasonable price. We will no longer be using Stevens plumbing

A few years ago Stephens Plumbing & Heating installed a new A/C central unit and furnace which has worked well. Someone from Stephens came to replace our filter. The person who came out had the wrong filter. The person had to leave to get the right filter and I was not given a quote for the price. He installed a filter that was 3 times the cost of the same filter on Amazon, plus the service cost was also expensive. I called two times to ask a manager to call me back to discuss this high cost. No one every called me back. I will never use Stephens again for plumping or heating.

Our central heater was acting up, and It's only 3 months old!
Oscar troubleshot our unit and really knew his stuff. He has tools to measure the gas flow when the heater is flamed on, and can tell if everything is nominal or not. Ours was OK once he pulled out the two air filters in our ceiling. They were all clogged up after only 3 months! Oscar told us that these new units burn hotter, so need more airflow to keep from melting. This makes them clog up the air filters in 3 months, where older units could wait 6 months before changing filters. Anyways, he sure knows his stuff from all the conversations we had about the various components that could effect the airflow. Thanks Oscar!

We had a problem with slow shower drain and two slow toilets. No back-ups into the home, but the shower was starting to back up. We had three plumbers come out to assess and take care of the issues. The first said nothing could be done via our insurance (no easy access for snaking). The second wanted to replace the current main clean-out with a two-way access for snaking back toward the home. This would have been very expensive.
Finally, two plumbers arrived from Stephen's Plumbing.
Galan and Arturo were amazing! They went under our home to look at the old drain, which was cast iron. They noted and took pictures and video to show us a iron drains, which are about 65 years old, and they were bulging, weeping, and showing signs of corrosion. Bottom line, we needed to have the iron drain replaced as it would be failing in the future. They started working immediately, and they replaced the iron drains, showed their excellent work with pictures and video.
The work was done quickly, professionally, and with a smile. I can't overstate how terrific Galan and Arturo were to have as contractors. They did great work, provided us with step-by-step status of their work, and they finished on time and cleaned everything up.
Just over a week since finishing the work, and our drains drain and our toilets flush. Our stress from having ongoing problems is gone! Thank you! In the future, we're calling Stephen's Plumbing, and we're requesting Galan and Arturo!

The fan in our ac unit stopped working during the dreaded heat wave. Called Stephens AC and because of the heat wave I had to wait a couple of days before someone could come out. I am assuming they were getting a ton of calls. Oscar came out and was amazing he knew exactly what the issue was and within about 30 minutes he had the AC up and running. Stephen's Plumbing & Heating installed our air conditioner 14 years ago and we have never had an issue until this week. We called on Wednesday, spoke with Ryan Stephens and Oscar showed up early the next day. Customer service was awesome and the response time was really awesome considering how hot San Pedro has been. Oscar arrived and was very professional and consciences about work shoes on our carpet. He and got straight to work and found the problem VERY quickly for which we are grateful. Luckily it was a minor - easy fix and we were up and running again in no time. While Oscar was here, we inquired about our heater. He was gracious to take a quick look and give up peace of mind that all is well. We have used Stephen's Plumbing for many years now and will continue to do so.

THE BEST! I needed someone to come out to my house for a leak in the ceiling right away! The company I usually use was booked up. I looked on Yelp for a reliable, referral and I found Stephens Plumbing. I met Galan and Cristian and they were the best! They came in and reviewed what was happening with the leak, then thoroughly went over everything with me after they figured it out. So I just bought a house in August 2022, a few days ago my heater died... the guy ( Rob) came here to checkout my heater and tell me it's done you need a new one 9,500.00$$
Then I noticed he looked like the same guy at my inspection when I bought my house three months prior, he was the one okaying the heater for the previous owners... that didn't sit well with me and I said wow you just okayed our inspection three months ago when we bought our house and now you're here three months later telling me I need a new one for $10,000??
So...
They just didn't appreciate your acknowledgment of that and being talked over, I am a first time homeowner and was asking a lot of questions that weren't really being answered....

Major project for my parent's home. Main pipes needed to be replace. Galan designed a pipe placement to save cost by shortening ca distance of one pipeline branching to the mainline the savings was over $2000 by that recommendation.
Super professional work Galan wanted to speak to me before going ahead with the job because they didn't want to give impression of taking advantage of senior citizens.
They have integrity. Their finished work on the project was something they were proud of by getting the right incline of the pipes to drain in the sewer line a lot of digging under the house, also did some other work on their toilets to make sure they were secured and didn't charge for that. Impeccable work and trustworthy of their service thank you

Wow, Talk about the worst attempt to rip someone off just because she is a female and at a nice house.

Had two issues for them to look at one was a septic transfer tank, which they wouldn't even touch unless it was pumped out. He said they were not capable of pumping it out, and told me to call a septic service company to pump it out. But did nothing to try and troubleshoot the electrical, or connections to the pump.

Second issue was a sprinkler pipe, where the fitting was underground and had to be dug up. literally 1 foot underground. The part was a three-quarter inch PVC elbow, and one short section of PVC pipe and one coupling. With glue, the cost may be around $20. Estimated cost for them to repair $730! Excuse was you have to let the glue cure and then he would have to test it. Glue curing on PVC pipe usually 10 minutes from my experience. My girlfriend was the one who was on site, and this is what they told her. She immediately said that was outrageous, then they came back with another offer of $500.
I showed up, had to pay them $125 to go away for their service call. Will never ever use or suggests to anyone to use them. The picture is what they wanted to for the section of pvc pipe.
I never write reviews or complain about anything even shotty work, but this was absolutely unbelievably ridiculous.

Had a great experience with Stephens plumbing for our tankless water heater replacement. Williams first came by to help diagnose the problem. His honest assessment of our 11 year old unit helped me to decide that replacement was the best option. A week later and the install was fast and clean. I called Stephen's plumbing for a quote on clearing my clogged shower drain. They quoted me $125 so I agreed to schedule for them to come out. When the technicians came out they said it was going to cost $250 to snake my shower drain. I had to send them away and this created such a huge inconvenience for me due to them providing me with a misleading price quote over the phone and then price gauging me in person.

Recently I had an issue with the wall heater in my house losing functionality. I called two companies to take a look, one of them being Stephens Plumbing and Heating. The first company was able to come out the same day while Stephens was booked until a few days later. The first company came out and after about 5 minutes they told me my heater needed $700 in repairs and provided me an itemized list of things that needed to be replaced. Feeling a bit cautious of this estimate I waited until Stephens Plumbing and Heating came out. Good thing I did, the Technician came out and after about 10 minutes or so of investigating my heater he discovered the issue was a couple of wires coming loose and was able to fix them and simply charge me for the diagnostic work. Couldn't recommend them more highly and if I run into any other heating issues they'll be the first group that I call.

INSANELY EXPENSIVE! I've used Stephens a couple times lately, for convenience but the prices have gotten too exorbitant and I can never use them again. I found out their plumbers make their OWN RATES! They can charge you as much as they want, which is why you can never get a simple answer in regards to quotes over the phone. Want to snake a drain? Stephens will insist on sending a plumber to the home before giving a price, then charge you $130 for an inspection. The plumber that came to my house quoted $250 to snake a bathroom sink. REALLY? Then he charged $250 to hook up my gas range IMPROPERLY (after quoting me $475, lowered his price when I said I'd find someone else). A week before this past visit I used Stephens to reinstall a claw foot tub and shower hook up. They put a huge gash in my wall and still charged me around $700. BOTTOM LINE IS THERE ARE PLUMBERS MUCH CHEAPER AND MUCH BETTER.

Oscar is the best! We thought the A/C needed repair, and the heater needed a full replacement. Oscar took only a few minutes to discover that BOTH the A/C and Heater could be easily fixed, and it would only take a short amount of time to do it. When the A/C kicked on we were very happy... though when he tested the heater (which we thought would need to be completely replaced), we were ECSTATIC to see that it now works also. Thank you Oscar! During the recent heat wave we were in dire need of air conditioning repairs.
I contacted Stephens expecting availability issues. I spoke with Eric who was very sympathetic to our situation and indicated they were busy but he would make some inquiries and get back to me. To my surprise he promptly called me back and told me he would get someone out to us the next day. The tech Oscar showed up on time and was able to promptly discover the issue. He then took considerable time in explaining to me the problem and our options. I later received a follow up call from Eric checking to see how things went and if I had any questions. I requested that he order the part and he got back to me the next day with the pricing. He then scheduled us within the week for the repairs. Tech Matt and Daniel arrived on time and installed the part. I then received another follow up call from Eric and thanked him for all his efforts to get this done. The system has worked very well since then. The professionalism and responsiveness of Eric and the techs was very impressive particularly during a heat wave. They really helped us out and for any other heating or air needs I wouldnt hesitate to use them again. Very happy to see there is still good service out there.

I contacted Stephens looking to install a Mini Split System for my ADU. Right from the start working with Eric was easy and stress-free. He was more than willing to share with me his knowledge of the different brands and how the process would work. Eventually we agreed to move forward with a Mitsubishi Mini Split System and he provided a great quote for the work and upgraded my system.

When it came time for installation, Stephens sent over Freddy, Matthew, Samuel, and David. These guys were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond what I had asked for and what was quoted for me. They walked the property to determine the best place to locate the equipment and even removed an old heater unit from my wall free of charge. They kept me posted throughout the day as they did the work and when finished, left my home as clean as when they arrived. I am so impressed by Freddy, Matthew, Samuel, and David and their professionalism.

I was having an clog issue in my kitchen sink so I needed a plumber. At first, I contacted a different plumbing company who sent a liar and a scam artist that told me I need $30K of work before contacting the Stephens Plumbing company. I am so happy that I called Stephens Plumbing. Once Stephens sent their plumber Luis out, he did an outstanding job. Luis quickly figured out the issue and gave multiple options to fix the problem with reasonable estimates. He explained the benefits of each option and helped me select the right choice for my issue and budget. Luis did such a good job fixing the kitchen clog issue that I had him fix of some other minor plumbing issues in my home's bathrooms. He installed a new fixture in my bathroom and it works great. I liked that Stephens Plumbing is honest and no pressure. After dealing with the first plumbing company that was dishonest, it was refreshing to have an experience where Stephens Plumbing got to the point, no BS and they didn't try to scare me into expensive unnecessary repair work. I plan to use Stephens Plumbing in the future if I need any other plumbing work done on my townhome. I am very satisfied with their work and the overall experience.

Great work done from Oscar removing our wall heating unit and from Matthew who repaired a pretty old and problematic loose toilet. Both had fair prices and showed up on time explaining what they thought the job would entail. The toilet was so old Matthew took the time to re-a fix onto new wood until we can afford better su flooring work. I had MANY plumbers quote and people on the phone try to give me the run around before having these two pros give an estimate in person. As a woman who knows enough about tools and repair (yes I fall into the handy category they were very courteous, respectful, and honest with their quotes (trust me I've had my fair share of the opposite so I can really appreciate them!). If it allowed for 6 stars i would have rated them higher. If you are in the southbay these guys are a hidden gem since they are located in San Pedro and yes I tried many southbay plumbers with no luck (expensive or unreliable or both) until these guys came out to the house. I waited to write this until we were through the big heat wave (September 2022) to make sure everything kept working. It did. In August, my HVAC stopped blowing cold air. I called around and Stephens was the only one who could get out to me the same day. The first guy couldn't diagnose so he called in to the office and then sent someone else out later (same day). He determined it was a bad motor *and* bad board (it's an old system, so not surprised). One part needed to be ordered and he did that rush. Four days later, he came out and installed the new parts and got my AC working again. The diagnostic, part order, and install was actually *faster* than the estimated appointment dates for the first diagnostic I got from 3 other companies. Additionally, for the install, they shortened their window for me so that I could just leave work an hour early instead of taking a whole day off again. Price wasn't cheap, but having owned and serviced AC units for decades, the price and labor felt fair. The work also survived the worst week long heat wave we have seen here in decades. Thanks for keeping us sane and comfortable!

Called 3 times trying to use their emergency services because we got a leak in our kitchen. I had to talk to a very rude customer service agent Natalie who has absolutely no information about pricing or when the technician can come out. We called them on Christmas Eve, then Christmas Day, then the day after Christmas. My kitchen sink is possibly overflowing with dirty dishes and they still haven't shown up. I ended up calling a different company. We really wanted to support local business but they are so unreliable and when you have an issue like leaking and plumbing issue, you need someone reliable.

I'll be fair here. They do solid work. I give them that. They've done work for us in the past. A pretty big job that involved digging up the lawn and we were satisfied customers (which is why we called them again). However, their prices......

We had a leaky kitchen drain and were quoted $180-$250. Eh seemed a bit much, but wanted it fixed and they were here so I just wanted it over with. Once the work was all said and done it jumped up to $400! How? That is almost double the estimated price! I mean the drain isn't leaking anymore, but that seems a little steep to add some plastic pipes. Next time I think I'll shop around before using them. $36 for parts and $360 for labor! They were here like an hour hour and a half tops! The audacity! If money is no object to you then sure they're great plumbers, but if you planned on having running water to go down your drains that month, maybe get another estimate? ‍LOL

I'm in near tears. I just got off the phone with Jeanette following multiple rounds of trying to have a plumber come out for a leaky bathtub faucet and replacing two washing machine valves. It makes it doubly frustrating because we live in a condominium where we share water with our neighbors so we need to notify them of water being shut off. Twice now we've warned our neighbors of possible water shut off and twice now we've been unable to have plumbing service.

I don't know, of the good reviews for this company, if the jobs are bigger or the areas they service are closer to their main office, or what, but I'm extremely disappointed that the kind voices who answer the phone quickly (Eric, Dave and Jeanette) aren't capable of producing quality service (or any service at all for that matter).

A plus is they answer the phone promptly when calling and do come across as kind and considerate. Another plus is Jeanette was able to secure proof of insurance that we could provide to our Home Owners association to have plumbing work done. A third plus is they would come out for a free estimate. Even when a plumber finally came 30 minutes after the 4 hour window we were provided for the first service call, we weren't charged (unlike the company that usually works in our complex and told us upfront they charge about $130-170 or something just for a service call).

Unfortunately, the first call they didn't come in the 4 hour window and I was the one who constantly had to call to have an ETA.

The real heartbreaker is having been told by the nice plumber, Matthew, who was the one who showed up 30 minutes late the first time, that he could do the job, would ask to return for the job, but just needed to get parts and would therefore need to reschedule. Then, having come to the rescheduled date and time, after waiting over an hour for him to show, I had to call and ask about what was going on and then told that he didn't feel comfortable doing the job. When were they going to tell us this? Never? Just have us and our neighbors wait around like schmucks for 4 hours again when I was told by Jeanette we would have Matthew come out promptly at 8am to finish the job in less than 2 hours?Jeanette stated her other plumbers were on bigger jobs. Do they not realize they could have potentially ended up getting referred for up to 140 units of work had they been able to honestly provide service?

Poncho did quick and great work. He was able to identify and fix my problem in 15/20 minutes. He got my clog removed and my unit up and running in no time. He was very knowledgeable and explained his process to me in detail. I would definitely recommend him for A/C and or plumbing issues. I saved his number in case I have any future issues.

disappointed with the outcome of this company!
requested specific service and was told between a certain time. The technician arrived late to tell me he wouldn't be able to do the job that he had other calls to attend to. His service was just a free estimate that he could come the next day to complete. overall was never given a estimate nor a call to schedule and COMPLETE the service. my sink is still leaking... thanks for nothing Stephen's Plumbing. For anyone, don't bother wasting your time!!

I called Stephen's Plumbing Heating & AC because I want to add a central AC unit to my existing furnace. I was very happy with the service so I decided to write a review/recommendation.
Initial call: A live person picked up within one ring and set up an appointment for an estimate within 3 minutes
Estimate Appointment: Oscar came at the exact time of the appointment. He was very pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. I got a detailed estimate on the spot! And the price is a lot less than all he estimates that I received so I accepted. The installation was scheduled the day after. This all happened in less than 20 minutes.
Installation: Oscar, Freddy and Samuel came right on time. They started the work immediately. My dad enjoyed watching them work because they were very pleasant and professional. When the installation was completed, Freddy explained everything to me included the warranty.
I give Stephen's Plumbing Heating & AC 11/10!! They truly exceeded my expectations in every step of the way. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for plumbing, heating and AV service. Thank you Oscar, Freddy and Samuel for your service!

Second time I try these guys. First time was for my heater and now is the AC unit. Gotta give these guys another 5 stars. Called them at 12pm to have the take a look at my AC unit. Called me an hour later and told me a tech will show up within the next 30 mins. They arrived on time and perform the service needed for my unit. Stephens Plumbing replaced our toilet. They did a professional job but the plumber dishonestly tried to charge me for 8 hours when he arrived at 10AM and left at 4:30 with a 1/2 hour lunch. I paid only for the 6 hours. He was gone getting parts for 2 hours and charged full rate for that time. He charged for the 15 minutes to rearrange his truck and also charged me for the 15 minutes it took for him to make the bill. Another Stephens plumber was here 2 weeks ago and told me they charge $135 per hour. Today without prior notice this plumber charged $165 per hour. I am disappointed. It may just be this one employee or maybe he was feeling pressured to generate more income. I will not go back to Stephens Plumbing.

The 2nd story of my home had a leak. The carpet outside of my bathroom door was sopping wet. Luis came out and found my problem. He was polite and very professional. PRICY AND FEELING A BIT TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF - I thought I'd give Stephens Plumbing a try for a simple clogged bathroom sink drain at one of my apartment units. Their MO is to not quote prices for basic services but have you wait for the plumber to come out and give an estimate. So I waited for the plumber to get there and I got a quote for $260 to snake the drain (a simple 15 minute job as it turns out). By that time of course my tenant needed to have a working sink and my choice was either to go with Stephens or wait another day for someone else. The kicker is that I spoke to my neighbor a week later and was told that Stephens charged him $140 for the same service. So just be aware that the plumber may present you with an inflated estimate knowing you will not want to hassle calling somebody else. I wish I would have declined the estimate. Live and learn.

No BS. Just excellent service from Dave and Oscar. PPE and safety protocols in place. I can't recommend them high enough.

Our furnace wasn't working this morning, and I gave Stephens a call around 10AM, and spoke to Dave - who was very professional over the phone, asked me questions about symptoms, and let me know he had techs available in the early afternoon. He also followed up with an ETA, which is a nice touch.

Oscar came by a couple of hours later, did some diagnostics, and quickly pinpoint the cause of the problem. He took the time to explain the suspected issue, how the mechanism works, and what the next steps would be. Luckily he had the part needed in his van, and successfully repaired the furnace in less than 45 minutes.

Oscar also stuck around for me to re-install my wi-fi thermostat, to make sure all was well. He also answered my HVAC maintenance questions. He's a good guy!

Look, my only goal this morning was to get the heat back on by night time, so that our baby would be comfortable. Stephens fixed the problem, while exceeding my expectations.

Professional: Called on a Friday and were seen the next Wednesday for a non-emergency pipe leak. They were busy but we are happy that Alan called to explain this. On the day of service Jeanette gave me a courtesy call an hour in advance to let me know the technician was on his way.

Friendly and efficient: Luis arrived wearing a mask within the two hour window they gave us. He was easy to talk to, funny and efficient. He gave us an itemized estimate, was upfront about the costs, and provided photos of the affected pipe. Luis was able to do the repair immediately. After fixing the pipe, he also did a test run for 10 minutes to ensure that it had been efficiently repaired. He also provided a photo of the new pipe installed after the work was done. I would work with Stephens plumbing again and highly recommend.

My toilets weren't flushing so I knew I had a main line issue. I called Stephens along with 4 other plumbers and they were the only ones who could come out the same morning.

Luis came out and was extremely helpful. He wore bootys on his shoes in the house. He explained all my options very clearly and what I paid was in line with the estimate. Was very friendly and easy to work with.

What was turning into a pretty difficult and negative experience with Stephens Plumbing was completely turned around by Eric, who works in the office. I was on a tight deadline and was struggling to get information from a few people in the office about some quotes I requested for about a week, until I got on the phone with Eric. He went above and beyond to get me the information and prices I needed and he did so within the span of only a few hours. Eric is the only reason I am giving Stephens a 5 star review, and I will most definitely be giving Stephens my business again because of Eric and Eric alone!

Wow is all I have to say, hired stephens hvac to come in and finish up on a new home after the previous contractor never came back.

These guys were responsive, on time, very knowledgeable and extremely professional.

They installed a Trane air condenser, vents, control panel, ultra violet unit to kill bacterial and viruses. They were done in 1-day.

We are so happy we hired them, I will be referring them to all my friends and contacts in the building industry.

This company is FANTASTIC!!! My daughter's heating unit stopped working and she was getting the run around from her home warranty company. Please don't get me started with how bad the home warranty company is. But YAAAAAY!!! Stephens' team set things right.

It was on a Tuesday evening that I'd called many places before I got to Stephens. One place advertised that they provide emergency services but no one on call today. Another was booked all day tomorrow but had openings on Thursday.

When I got to Stephens, I knew they would help because a dispatcher answered the phone. She took my information and said a technician would call me back. Within 10 minutes, Manny called me stating that he was finishing up a job and would help me in about 1.5 hour. He followed up by calling to let me know that he was on his way.

When I met him, he said that the clock started at 7:50pm and he finished in about an hour. Also, he had suggested to replace all the toilets since they were old and wasting water. He even offered me a discount for a first time customer. I am definitely going to use him for my properties.

Of all the days of the year our air conditioner had to act up, it was last night. Thank God for the ceiling fan, we survived the heat. I went to Yelp this morning and looked for an air condition repair company. To my surprise, almost everyone was closed. I read the reviews for Stephens Plumbing & Heating and read great reviews. I called and a real live person answered the phone (good sign). She said, your technician's name is Poncho and he will be there at your place between now and 11:00 (it was around 9:15 when I called). Poncho arrived around 10:00. He was courteous and asked me a handful of questions. He asked if he can check the condenser, which is the hunk of machine located on our roof. Sure enough, the condenser is dead. He opened it and right away he said, I suspect this is part of the motor that is bad. Luckily, he had this part in his truck. A quick installation (about 10 mins.) voila! condenser is running again. From start to finish, it only took him less than 25 mins. to get our air conditioner running again. Disaster diverted. We are one happy customer! After 30 minutes when Poncho left, Eric called and asked me how did the work go and was everything to our satisfaction. I told Eric I felt lucky to have found them. I highly recommend Stephens Plumbing & Heating. Oh, Poncho even pointed out our current AC unit system is on the small side based on the square footage of our condo and suggested in the future to replace the size to a 3 ton system. Again, I highly recommend this company and I am a very satisfied customer !!!

My experience with Stephens Plumbing & Heating couldn't have gone any better!

My home's central A/C stopped working about two months ago and I was dreading having to get it fixed. These repairs can get pretty expensive and it's hard to find trustworthy businesses who can help.

I made a call to Stephens and was able to get someone to take a look the same day, almost within the hour. It was great! When Matt arrived, he quickly got to work and was able to diagnose the issue. Luckily it was just the capacitor that had stopped working. Once the problem was solved, I had cold air once again!

Matt was very professional and knowledgeable which speaks volumes about this business. Due to the great experience, I will definitely refer friends and family. I also have a separate plumbing issue that I'll be following up on soon!!!

This review is long overdue. I had Stephens replace a relatively new AC/heating system back in June of 21. long story short the other AC company I worked with under designed the previous system. they closed up shop and left town. so after talking to a few hvac companies I went with Stephens. and am I glad I did. top to bottom my experience with them has been first rate. from estimate to installation to support Stephens has been wonderful to work with. cost was very reasonable. everyone I've dealt with was professional. they came out a couple extra times to dial in the dampers and check on the condenser. always on time. and I know if something went wrong they'd be there to fix. I've liked my experience so much that if/when I have a plumbing issue, they'll be my first call. thank you Stephens!

Reached out to several companies and they all flaked. So I was ecstatic when they showed. The first visit was great. The guy checked out vents for free. He told us that the vents were chewed and that they may need to be replaced (which we were down to do) but we can also try cleaning. So of course we're going the cheaper route and went for the cleaning.

Now the second visit was also good. The two guys were friendly. They did call the first guy to tell him about the damage and you can tell that they thought a cleaning was a waste of time. But the dude told them to go ahead and clean it which they did.

Afterwards we found out that cleaning was a waste of time and a waste of a lot of money. The smell didn't go away and nothing they did helped the situation. We truly felt like we got taken advantage of.

They could've told us from the beginning that cleaning wouldn't help instead of setting the appt and doing the job.

I mean they are the experts. We even tried contacting them back to schedule a full replacement and nothing. I feel like they knew they were taking advantage of our ignorance.

We ended up getting it all replaced at double what we paid for the cleaning.

Bottom line, don't trust what they say. They are friendly but they will also take advantage.

I waited a couple of weeks before I wrote this review to make sure everything was working consistently. I first want to say, what an amazing professional team. Second, Rob, the estimator and his lead man, Oscar were incredibly efficient and knowledgeable of how to put in ducts, heating, and AC for my modular home by the ocean. Rob also worked with the team of three men until one of his workers was freed up from another job. Stephe's bid was $400 more than the other bid, but I chose him over the other company because of the detail in the bid. The other company, based on its bid was not detailed which would have made me vulnerable to other hidden costs once the work got underway. The company has an excellent reputation and its fleet of vans are clean and newer looking than the other company I got a bid from-which was at least a 20 year old van with faded lettering. I'd recommend this company a hundred times over.

I can't say enough about Oscar, Omar, Freddy and Sam who did the install in 3 days with care of my white carpet. All extremely knowledgeable and guaranteed 100% satisfaction which is no surprise due to the 5-star service Stephens and their employees gave me. There was no drywall work, they cut for vents in wall & ceilings perfectly, they were on time, prepared and worked well together I can tell for years. This is a first class, competive price family-owned business that many have recommended to me.

Our Water Heater stopped functioning. We called Stephens Plumbing and they gave us their next available morning appointment. They called when plumber was on route to our home. Freddy arrived in a uniform and mask. He informed us he was vaccinated but still wears a mask. He called to get another person to help remove & install a new water heater, so it could be installed today. He explained what areas had not been previously installed correctly and that were not up to Code. After installation it was very noticeable that his workmanship is superior to what was done previously. He replaced PVC pipes with Copper. Our Water Heater is now up to Code and we will be recommending Freddy & Stephens Plumbing to our neighbors and will be contacting them for any future repairs!

Our rental house had AC problem and got an estimate from SoCal Plumbing, Heating Andy AC. Tenant was told that the AC was sooooo old that it has to be replaced and gave a quote for $9,000.00. But if we wanted to fix the problem, it would cost $2600.00.
My husband ended up calling Stevens plumbing and heating and Pablo came out that same day and told us that the AC was 2 years old! He fixed the leak and added more Freon. AC is working well and the price was totally reasonable! Waaaaaaay less than the other quote we got. Thanks Pablo! We'll definitely call you again!

Hired Stephens to help with my kitchen sink that got backed up recently. Called for service on a sunday which I was informed they charge double for weekends, so I declined. But they were able to come out next day instead for regular charge.

Monday: Receptionist called me back at 8am to confirm the request. The technician Victor was friendly and was able to snake out the drain pretty quickly. Luckily there wasn't any other problems like having to replace my disposal unit.

I left 4/5 because the time slot given was 9-12. Receptionist called to say it would now be 12:30, yet it became more realistically around 2:30. Overall, I would hire/refer them again based on this 1st experience.

Drain line was clogged and condensation began pouring out of unit onto my wood floor. Looked for YouTube video for help but these units are not easy to self-service. They vacuumed, used air compressor, and water tested the drain line for the up front service fee charge of $110. Thanks Omar!

I have used this company for years and can't recommend them enough. As a single mom, I was always worried that repair people might try to take advantage of my limited mechanical knowledge. Never this company, though.

Yesterday evening my house filled with smoke from the furnace in the attic. After the firemen left, my first call last night was to Stephens Plumbing. They fit me into their schedule before 9am this morning..

Thanks to Chris and Matt from Stephens Plumbing. They got here almost before the smoke had cleared. New furnace installed!

Kudos to Oscar and Antony who were here to fix an unrelated air-conditioning problem two weeks ago. They carefully explained everything they did. Excellent work!

Stephens Plumbing is well known in South Bay, they started their operation in the 80's with 1 truck and grew to one of the biggest plumbing companies in that area.
They installed an 36 gal electrical water heater in one of the rental units in Miraleste Canyon Estates in San Pedro some time ago and upon recent inspection I found out that the connector fitting between the flex pipe and the water heater was corroded because of the previous installation error. After sending them email with photos and couple of phone calls they send a plumber who took care as a warranty repair.
Excellent customer service by Joan - she knows how to make a customer happy without sending him on a wild goose chase and Ryan and Greg who saw the photos and authorized warranty repair.
If you want a company who stands behind their work and wont give you a run around when warranty issues come up - give them a call

I highly recommend Stephens Plumbing. They were referred to us by our neighbors. We originally called for a leaking toilet. but they did so much more.

We called Monday afternoon and Manny was at our house the next morning. I had a great experience with this company. Professional, polite, reasonably priced, and clean.
I got an appointment convenient for my schedule. Williams arrived wearing a company uniform with his name too. As a woman, this made me feel more comfortable. Williams was very thorough explaining what was needed. Not only was the repair done right, he cleaned up the bathroom, left it as he found it.
I've had several other plumbing companies that were pigs!
This company will be my go to.

Scheduled a sewer inspection with this company and they gave a time window between 9:00 and 11:00 am. The day before the inspection I called and confirmed everything was on track and it was.

Close to 11:00 on the day of expecting they call to say their technician is running late and it will be closer to 1:00. I was ok with that as I understand unexpected things happen. Close to 1:00 they call again and say their guy will be there before 3:00. I was frustrated but agreed as I didn't really have a choice and needed the inspection done that day. About 2:30 I get a call telling me that they will be finishing and leaving from the previous client at 4:00 and will be headed my way after. They offered no discount for being 4+ hours late and when I asked about a discount I was told she didn't have the authority and I can speak to the owner another time. At about 3:45 they called back and offered a $50 discount and said their guy was on the way. I declined their offer as I didn't have any desire to give them my business anymore.

The only explanation given was that they only had 2 technicians and their stuff ran over time. The reason I tried to book first spot in the morning was to avoid this issue. And then to be strung along like they did when I could have called someone else sooner is completely not cool.

I booked another company and told them I was in a pinch. This other place was able to head over and help out and save me from my Stephen's plumbing nightmare.

Our old wall heater near the bedrooms was not venting properly and the gas company after inspection red tagged it. I was going through yelp and called Stephens, they were able to come next day and Omar showed up and was great. He had to remove the heater to clean the firebox and replace the uncoated brass gas connector. He also replaced the gas connector on the living room heater. Found this place on Yelp and recommended them to my mom due to all the good reviews. She called them and Oscar came out in 2 hours. Ended up she had a bad sensor on her heater. They tried to charge me an emergency tech fee (125) On a regular working day during normal business hours for the tech to quote me an astronomical fee to just uninstall the water filter and say he couldn't do anything about the leak until the following week. So in a nut shell, a fee to say he couldn't do anything about it. I cut my losses and had another company come uninstall it for a third of the price. Run away while you can.

It was cold last weekend, and our home gas heater wasn't working. I found Stephens on Google and Yelp, so I and called them on Monday and got an appointment for Wednesday. I got a call the next day saying there was a tech in our area, and he could come now. The tech wore a mask and was very nice. He fixed our heater and got quoted for a very fair price. Stephen's Plumbing is the best! Sure call around but you will end up hiring Stephens. A very special shout out to Omar! Water was coming in around the furnace. Omar braved the elements (rain and wind) and carefully accessed the roof to patch the leak. (Dramatic! Words can't describe) I could see it in Omar's eyes (like seeing a family member in trouble) I'm not leaving until I fix this leak. We have had great experience with Stephen's Plumbing, but specifically a shout out to Galan who not once, not twice, but 3 times came to the rescue when we had some issues in our rental! He was punctual, polite, and explained all of the process to fix the problem. He helped move things and made sure everything was as clean/orderly as when the job began. On dealing with the landlord: he was efficient, proficient, and matter of fact to get all the work done-- busting up concrete, digging up old pipe, and hacking through tree roots, and now we are better than when we moved in 4 years ago! Another great experience with Stephens Plumbing. I had a stopped up toilet that I attempted to clear but with no luck. I contacted Stephens Plumbing this morning and got an appointment for 12n - 4p, same day!. Jose actually arrived early and immediately cleared the clog. I've been using Stephens exclusively for many years because they know what they are doing, are very reliable and while not necessarily the least expensive, overall they have actually saved us money by correcting issues the builder messed up. They only need to come once, and guarantee their work. I can only say in my opinion they are the best plumbers anywhere and highly recommend their work. And, thank you Jose for sharing some solutions that could eliminate future problems!

My heater needed to be repaired - I was quoted $from another company and decided to call Stephens Plumbing, Heating and AC for a second opinion. I'm glad I did. Omar came out and thought maybe the repair would cost $500. After inspecting the unit and identifying the problem he determined that the $105 initial fee would cover the repair and get me through the winter. Because of Omar's prompt and honest work will definitely be using them for my new HVAC installation in the near future.

I called Stephens after I smelled gas when I turned my heat on this morning. Nobody else seemed to have same day appointments but Stephens was super accommodating.

Rob - our tech was awesome. He made sure our heater was working safely. Really smart and knowledgable. He was able to talk us through replacement options and gave us a free estimate since we have an older unit.

I was super happy with my experience. Rob also wore a mask and kept his distance but he was still engaged and great to work with.

I would definitely recommend this company for plumbing and HVAC.

We were hesitant to call a plumber because of the virus and pandemic but we're so glad we did. They sent Manny to our place to fix our leaking shower pipe. He did a very professional no-fuss job and he was even wearing a facemask! He was straightfoward in explaining what was needed to be done and he did the repair honestly and right away, not wasting time to add more to the length of time to finish the repair. And he had the pipes and tools needed so he was done in no time.

I usually don't write reviews...but the experience I had with Stephen's Plumbing and Heating warranted me to go the extra mile, as they did for me. When calling for heating services it can be pricey. After making several calls, I found Stephen's. The operators are friendly and they had a technician call me and give me an idea of the costs that I could incur. I spoke with Omar and he helped me understand what could be wrong with my heating unit prior to the diagnostic visit and his comfort with all types of heating units gave me assurance he wasn't just going to recommend me to replace the entire unit. Sure enough, Omar found the problem with the heating unit and was able to fix my heating unit and explain the problem. Super friendly tech if you should get him. Overall thank you Steven's!

Super easy to schedule and book an appointment with Stephen's Plumbing, all communication was punctual and friendly. When the plumber Victor showed up I explained the issue to him with my garbage disposal having a leak and not working/making a sound like the motor was jammed. I had already purchased a replacement garbage disposal and believed he would be coming to install the replacement... Victor took the time to first inspect everything and determined that he could fix the issue which ultimately saves me money in the long run (now I can go return the replacement disposal). Summary: Very professional. Technicians know their stuff and do it well. Office staff called me same day after reaching out for a quote. My wife and I used to live in Lomita and had Stephens over for small repairs twice. They always did the job well and my only qualm was with the service price being a little higher than I expected; but again, quality of work was top notch.

Our current story starts with Costco for HVAC install. We contacted them during the 15% cash back thing (usually it's 10%) and had a technician from AZ Air Conditioning (their chosen contractor) come to do the estimate. He looked around our home, assessed where the installation could go on our property, then wrote up a quote for around $10,300 for a 4 ton unit based on our square footage. I should have been more suspicious that he didn't check out the central heater in our attic at all...

A few months later, we got approval from the HoA for installation and so I emailed him back asking some questions, then never heard back. I followed up again, then contacted the company through the website instead. Finally, a manager got back to me, apologized that the emails weren't going through since they changed providers, then followed up with a discounted estimate of around $9800 (before cash back). She sent the original technician back over to confirm everything and start the paperwork since it had been a few months and this time he did a more thorough analysis and discovered a problem: our heater was a 3 ton unit, but the initial estimate was for 4 tons.

He then provided two estimates, one for just the AC for 3 tons, and then one for the AC and heater being replaced at 4 tons (which was closer to $14,000). They also suggested that we replace our heater since it is 11 years old (even though I doubt it has been used much and still functions really well), so we were very close to actually replacing the heater with a 3 ton and adding the AC when I decided to reach out to Stephens and another company for additional estimates. The other company estimated around $13K and didn't even bother to come out for an analysis.

*** When I submitted the Stephens website contact form they called me back a couple of hours later and scheduled a visit to do an estimate that afternoon after work. That's when Omar came out and shattered my reality. He went into the attic and crawled around, analyzed the existing ducts, went outside to where the unit was going to be installed and expressed concern about running the tubing up the wall and into the attic, went back upstairs to the rooms under the attic and talked about the drainage that had to feed into a sink drain and how that would be challenging to do without cutting open the wall, etc. He said that based on our ducting there was no way we'd be able to output 4 tons let alone 3. He even called to confirm specs based on the sizes of are ducts and the amount of air that can be displaced by the three lines that we had. None of this had been mentioned by AZ, and it all made sense. Then he asked what we were quoted, laughed, and said it will be much less.

Indeed it was. Around $7200 for a 3 ton unit and labor, with an electrician to run the dedicated line in our garage to the unit on the other side of a major wall. I scheduled the appointment a couple of weeks later and they spent two days doing the installation; four guys came the first day, three the second with two electricians. Everyone was very nice, professional, kept things clean, and worked hard to get the installation done with minimal damage to the home and exterior. When all was said and done, the installation looked seamless and the AC seems to be working well (albeit with a bit of a rumble from vibration). We are excited to have it, and feel good about the 1 year warranty on labor and 10 year warranty on parts that comes with it. We'd definitely recommend Stephens, and I'll report back when we start getting some real usage going during the Summer.

Contacted Stephens a few weeks ago to replace old frozen valves in order to install a new washer/dryer as well as to replace the garbage disposal in our kitchen. Quick response from the office resulted in Freddie and Arturo coming out to make the repairs and installation Both men were very professional and friendly kept all areas clean. I live in Palos Verdes Estates, and I feel that every company charges me more just because of my zip code. Stephens was different, and I'm really happy I called them.

I called Stephen's Plumbing to install the drain and fixtures to a newly purchased vanity/sink for my bathroom. I called another plumber and they told me that it would cost $800 just to connect the drain, and that it would cost extra to put the fixtures on. I've used that other company before, and always felt that they were ripping me off, so I called Stephen's to get another quote. Art was the plumber who arrived at my home and was really nice. I asked Art to connect the drain to my sink, to install my new fixtures/faucets, and to install my toilet (I had just installed new tiles for an accent wall in that bathroom and my toilet was taken out but not re-installed). Art quoted me $800 to do all 3 things. I agreed. Art did the job and even helped one of the other tiling contractors I had working in my house by removing a fixture for free. When he got to the toilet portion, he realized that the toilet was my old toilet which was in the backyard, and that it just needed to be plopped back onto the hole. He told me that when he gave me the quote at the beginning of the day, he thought that it was a brand new toilet that needed to be put together, which would have been a more complicated and time-consuming job. Because it was easier, he only charged me $695 instead of $800. What? I already agreed to the $800 and didn't expect the discount. I've never experienced a plumber (or anyone else) give me a discount at the end of the job because it was easier than he originally thought it would be. This is an honest plumber, and Stephens won my future business as a result. Thanks Stephens (and Art).

Called for a backed up kitchen sink, when speaking with Dave, had heard about the 15 percent discount for first time customers. Well long story short, my sink was snaked and unclogged within about 15 minutes of work. When I went to pay, I mentioned to worker about the 15 percent discount, that's when I saw the eyes roll, so he calculated a 15 percent discount and for 15 minutes of work, I was charged 181 dollars! Seriously this seems steep. And to add icing on the cake, I've been harassed by phonecalls stating I did not pay my invoice, when in fact I wrote a personal check for full amt. We needed an A/C installed, and got a very friendly representative on the phone who was able to send Omar out to the house quickly to do an assessment. He clearly explained what we had and what he recommended, and a week later he and his crew came for the installation. They worked quickly but thoroughly, and when finished, took the time to go over every single thing they had done. I've had a couple experiences with these guys. In summary, their management/back-office and scheduling is a mess, but their HVAC guys are pros.

First experience was for HVAC. The guys that came out were pro's and very friendly. They did some testing, found no issues, and went on their way.

I tried to bring them out a second time for plumbing. They were at my location, telling me no one answered the door when they knocked repeatedly. My tenant tells me she never heard knocking. Not sure who to believe.

So I rescheduled to yesterday at 2, making sure my tenant was there. Got a voicemail from their scheduling department saying sorry, wont be there until after 4. No mention of a please call us back... I never heard back from Stephens, in fact.

My tenant called me late last night asking why they didn't show. So I called Stevens this morning, and they immediately went on the defensive saying well your tenant wasn't there the earlier this week (which has nothing to do with their no-show on the reschedule) and we didn't hear back from you so we didn't go (again, no mention to call us back in the we'll be late voicemail).

Skip these guys, there are better service providers out there.

Very upsetting experience. I called Stephens Plumbing to fix the water leak coming from my A/C. I have an infant and it's 80 degrees where I live so this was an emergency. The technician came out and said he fixed the issue. About 1 week later the AC started leaking again and I called Stephens Plumbing to see if they can come out since it wasn't fixed. I was told they'd charge me over $200 just for coming out after hours as a service fee! I'm so upset. I have a small baby who is getting heat rash because I can't use the AC, the technician didn't fix it and they still want to charge me another service fee! I tried to reason with the technician. He didn't budge so now my baby is suffering in this heat and we have an AC that isn't fixed.

These guys are fantastic. Our AC went out (during a heat wave--no less), and the company I've used a few times before told me next week before they look at. So I shopped around Yelp, and came across Stephens. There were so many 5-star reviews, that I decided to call. They had an opening the next day with a 12-4 window time. The van pulled up out front at 12:30 (with a phone call before-hand). Their tech, Matt, went and looked at our old unit and had it running again with 5 minutes. Cold air once again.

Great work Stephens! I have a new go-to AC repair company now.

Galan from Stephens Plumbing was amazing. He came out to investigate a plumbing leak and was very thurough. It ended up being not a plumbing leak, and Galan took time to really show me the true issue. He was honest, straightforward, and helpful.

I had an Air Conditioning issue on a Sunday night during the hottest weekend of the year in August. I called Monday morning at 8 am and they had a technician out by noon. I had a clog in my drain pipe, issue with the compressor and I needed a refrigerant charge and in a little more than an hour, Poncho had my A/C back up and running again. If you want a Professional, fast and thorough job, I recommend Stephens to anyone! Thanks for a great job Poncho!!

My home experienced an unfortunate Water Heater leak at 11:30 PM last night. My wife and I are by no means handy but we were able to at least shut off the pilot light. Unfortunately we could not figure out how to shut off the water to the unit, and we couldn't shut off the main water valve to the home as we lacked the proper tools (every hardware store was closed at this point).

After calling 7 different companies that were supposedly 24/7 and getting the run-around by their people (half of the companies I called it went straight to voicemail, as for the others they only mentioned they would try dispatch but no call was made to me informing me of an available tech) I found Stephen's whose technician Victor gave me a call within 15 minutes.

In order to save us money, he tried to ask if we tried several things to mitigate the damages (i.e shutting off the water to the unit, shutting off the main water valve, seeing where the leak could be). After asking him to come as I could not resolve this issue myself (it was also 1:00 AM and the water spilling out of the water heater was causing me high blood pressure and stress) he said he would arrive within 30 minutes.

Sure enough he did and began diagnosing the issue. He was able to shut off water to the unit and recognized immediately there was a bad flex (water going into the unit). He went to his truck and replaced it and voila, no more leaks. I did have to ask him to turn the pilot light on and things were humming along.

The next morning (3 hours later) I showered in preparation for work and I guess having the water shut off to the unit will cause temporary water pressure spikes which is normal. It would have been nice for him to tell us that as I wasn't aware but I was happy things were finally working.

I was okay with the high emergency rate fee given how late it was and was very pleased with the quick and responsive repair. I will gladly look to them to do services for my home in the future.

Just moved in; of course toilets and showers start backflowing. Called a couple of places and got ridiculous quotes, talks of having to remove the toilet etc.

Stephens plumbing set me up with an appointment early in the morning. Luis came out and did a wonderful job. Was able to get the clog out without any major repairs, didn't upsell. He was courteous, efficient, and saved me a bunch of money. Highly recommend, and will be using in the future!

Stephens just replaced our air conditioner, and I can't say enough good things about the experience. Rob came out to give us an estimate along with some good advice. The installers Freddy and Matt showed up on time, removed the old unit, and installed the new unit. They explained what they were doing and how to take care of the new system. Both gentlemen were polite and friendly, and I appreciated how well they protected the floor and cleaned up the area when the job was finished.

This is the second time we've used Stephens - first time was for a water heater replacement and they were equally competent on that job. It's good to have such a reliable HVAC company near by. I highly recommend Stephens!

Jose, Manny, and Cory were amazing!! I had 4 other plumbers from different companies come out over a period of a few months. Each time they were able to unclog our bathroom drains, but it only stayed clear for a few weeks. The last plumber I used had to come out twice within about 2 weeks, and the drain was still backing up. It wasn't until I called Stephens Plumbing, when Jose, using a camera discovered the problem.
I can't believe how hard these guys work! It was a huge job and they were very professional and pleasant the entire time, barely even stopping for lunch! The job could have easily taken them a lot longer to complete, but they stuck with it even working in the rain!! You guy's should ask for a raise! Awesome job, thanks Jose!!

For a while out hot showers have been interrupted by cold water---not always, but often enough. On Stephens trucks it says something about tankless water heater service so I called.
We are so grateful to Williams, an expert plumber and a nice guy. He arrived promptly, assessed the situation thoroughly, and explained what needed to be done. The next day he came as scheduled and completed the necessary work. Williams is very honest; he never tried to sell me anything and was careful not to promise what he could not guarantee---(our unit is 11 years old and we have never had it serviced till now)! But Williams did excellent, very professional work.
What can I say? The water is hot! And stays hot!

Had a problem w forced air heating. Stephen's plumbing came out the day I called. Turns out I had a gas leak in the attic!! Pancho & Freddy fixed it immediately and were very professional. I had a gas leak on Thanksgiving day. I live in the Gardens and when Williams came out he explained the procedure and that he would put in an emergency bid to my HOA. After I received the approval Williams & Freddy came out and did a great job. Before they left they checked my stove and heater to make sure everything was functioning properly and cleaned my patio. Call Stephens yesterday afternoon when an old pipe broke outside the house, causing me to shut off all of the water. They called within my appointment window to say they would be here in 40 mins- Jose Galan was here in 20. Fixed it very quickly, explained what he was doing, very happy with his service. On Sunday, I had an emergency around 10am, when a clogged drain cause water to pour out if my downstairs bathroom. I contacted my homeowners warranty compamy which was no help, as they could not send someone out today. Best they could do was have their company call me back with 48 hours.

I called the local plumbing, Stephens, and I was promised it would be completed today.

Louie the plumber called me immediately and set up the appointment. He arrived around 1:30pm.

He fixed the issue very fast.

Very professional and friendly employee, I'm hoping all companies hire someone like Louie.

I recommend this plumbing company as they were able to fix this issue on a Sunday.

Price was fair and service reliable.

Discovered this morning we had a leak in our water heater tank. As per normal we looked to Yelp for recommendations and liked the reviews that Stephens plumbing got. We called at 130pm and spoke to Dave who was extremely helpful and returned calls as promised. Cory and Arturo showed up around 330pm, there was no hard sell they only offered solutions which made them very easy to work with. It's now 545pm and they just left, job done. They were extremely efficient, professional and likable even with 95 degree temperatures. Great job fellas and great customer service. I highly recommend this company.

Stephens came out next day to run a camera through our main line. Luis was out tech, and we was very helpful. We weren't sure where our clean out was, he helped up find it. Once he found it, it was covered in stucco and he removed the stucco and didn't charge us extra. Their price was very fair, they came quick and he even smelled good!

I called Stephens for a fourth job - repair requests for the sale of my home. Our buyer wanted a horizontal section of 1935 cast iron sewer pipe replaced which showed signs of determination. Also added an external clean out and lastly performed hydro-jetting to clear the sewer line of any roots and build up which was noted during inspection. After sorting through some scheduling snafus, Juan as lead managed competing priorities and his team very well. They did non-invasive prep on day 1 (so all systems continued to work) and accomplished the job in excellent time on the main work day. Juan really worked with me to get the job done on time and saved me money with his recommendations. I give them my highest marks!

A big shout-out to this 24-hour plumbing service in San Pedro, CA. Hector arrived on time within the specified hours, and knew what he was doing. No one wants to have a 3-sink clog-up on a Saturday night while they're preparing to go away and have house sitters come in, but that's what happened to us.

Hector was courteous, smart and took care of the problem quickly. I can't say enough about his helpful attitude and professionalism, and his remarkable good humor considering that he's called in on a beautiful Sunday.

Last night I had a plumbing emergency around 9:30 PM I had discovered that one of the pipes under my house had busted and water was leaking into the foundation of my house. I called them at approximately 10 PM and they answered promptly and were able to help me. Early the next morning someone came to my house and fixed the problem right away his name was Galan. He was extremely helpful and friendly I was able to fix the problem right away. overall I was very pleased with his service. Would highly recommend this service for anyone who is in need of an instant plumbing fix. Overall great experience will be calling them again next time I have a plumbing problem.

Great customer service. Called them and they came out promptly to check on my clients heater. Even though it was an old floor furnace, which alot of Heating companies don't even want to touch. They knew exactly what to do and how to get the pilot light lit. They also did went under the house to see the condition of the floor furnace and amazingly did not try to upsell us on a new heater. We had a simple shower cartridge swap that needed to be done and we got quoted $500-$1000 job for something that costs as little as $80 for parts. We had all parts available but the plumber took all the parts so we could no longer do the repair ourselves. I feel like he did nothing but attempt to scam my girlfriend who seemed like she was an easy target to markup. He made no attempt to look at the problem and tried to upcharge us to simply remove the shower plate on the wall. We cancelled and called another plumber who was able to diagnose the problem and fixed it within 2 hours. He may have gotten away with it from other clients so be wary about the cost and ease of repair of your plumbing.

I called to have them come change a part on my heater that Social gas inspected and said needed to be changed and I could probably do it myself and that he could change the part but they don't carry it for my type of model heater. Turns out so cal gas guy was lying, the part was a thermal coupler and its basically a generic part that can be used in heaters and other things. Anyways I call Stephens plumbing and they have a technician reach out to me to service my heater, I tell him I need to have my thermo couple replaced and how much is the flavor because I know the part is only like $10 bucks. He says we'll first of all you won't find a thermo coupler for $10 dollars that they go for $80 and if I find them for $10.00 to let him known where so he can start getting them from there and I tell him I already did, they sell them at hormone depot for $10 bucks and they go for $7 on amazon, he was silent fr what felt life an eternity because he got busted trying to sell me a $10 part for 8 times its value at that point I knew he couldn't be trusted but I figure hey I could just get the part from home depot and pay the labor for him to replace it, then he tells me he will charge $159 or $189 just to show up, keep in mind this wasn't an emergency visit and I clearly stated that to him, $189 just to show up then whatever the labor was going to be to fix the part is laughable. I ended up calling to cal gas and asking if they change thermo couplers and they said they did so I made a big deal about it complaining that their technician said supposely they didn't change them on my particular model, so they sent another technician out and he changed it and charged me $50 total which I felt was more than reasonable. Use your better judgment when going with Stephens plumbing, if you don't believe me on the price of the thermo coupler look them up on home depot and amazon its basically this thin copper tube with fittings on each side that the pilot flame heats up which in turn sends milliamps to this safety device to keep the gas on or at leas that was how it was explained to me. You just cant trust anyone now a days, it seems like everyone is out to rip you off, I hope Stephens plumbing managment reads this and gets on their employees about being more ethical and I really hope it's not something that is encouraged by management

We lost our long-time plumber tragically, and have found it very difficult to replace him. Stephen's plumbing showed up with their honest and timely service -- filling the void we felt so deeply. Miguel came to the job site and was thorough, easy going and great at communicating how he would tackle the job, what materials he would need etc. It was an old house with lots of unorthodox pipes and water lines, he not only installed 5 toliets, 2 bidets, dishwasher a garbage disposal, he also tested all the sinks and showers and some unexpected leaks. Miguel turned what would otherwise be a headache in home ownership into a delightful couple days! Would highly recommend.

My review will explain exactly why they are getting only 1 star. Whomever set up the appointment over the phone was good, the plumber came and did an ok job but he made a false statement/lied to our insurance company!
A week after we bought the house and we're moving things in, we found water on the laundry room floor, mopped it up but it kept getting worse. We could hear the water running but didn't know where from...so we had to hire a leak detection company to find the exact area of the problem and they told us that we have a burst pipe, they dug it out and we saw that the water was gushing (have video to prove) and at that point we shut off the water to the house all together ! So by the time their plumber arrived, the water was completely off! He told our insurance company that a slow leak caused the damage, are you kidding me?!?! Slow leak was never mentioned by anyone and not to mention that our house went through serious inspection a few weeks prior to that before we bought the house. Final walkthrough a week before and everything was dry and in perfect condition!! So if the plumber didn't remember the exact job/house, he should have never made any statements!!!!!!!!! We called him several times and left messages through the front desk, to verify on what exactly he told our insurance company but he never returned our call!
Of course our insurance company said, that your plumber said that it was a slow leak and that is not covered by us!!! Not acceptable!!!

William is great but prices are high. Got an estimate of almost $400 to replace a shower cylinder. Charge for replacement part was $180 versus $67 on Amazon. They also round up to the labor charge in hours. One hour = $95. One hour and one minute =$190. So my $67 part would have cost me $180 plus 2 hours of labor for another $190 plus tax = almost $400. Ordered the Amazon part and having a handy man install for $80. Saved almost $250.

Stephens proved to be top notch. They gave me a very competitive quote for an upgraded HVAC system, were able to accommodate my crazy schedule, and they knocked it out in 1 day. Chris and Matt worked the inside while Oscar did most of the outside upgrades and they were all very knowledgeable and respectful. I appreciate they're attention to detail as well as guiding me through all of the things they replaced. I also appreciate the cleanliness they maintained throughout the job considering they had to crawl through tight spots with insulation everywhere. I made a mess of the master bath sink project. My family was mad they had no water and it was 1230pm. I goggled best plumber in lake forest on yelp, and BINGO Stephens showed up. I called and in 90 mins I had the technician fixing my mess. One hour later I had my new double sink facet set fixed and installed. Galani was the true professional from start to finish. I have never felt compelled to write a review for a plumbing company, but in one month I have experienced every plumbing emergency nightmare!

I am a property manager for both residential and commercial properties and decided to try Stephens Plumbing for my first disaster (pipe burst) on a Sunday. Manny was the first Stephens Super Hero that came to my rescue. The next super hero was David who patiently worked hard to repair several gas leaks. I was so impressed by the professionalism and sense of urgency they showed. I called Stephens out 6 more times in one month and each visit they went above and beyond. And I can't thank the office staff enough for their polite patience with me!

As much as I don't want to share them with anyone else, they definitely deserve to be recognized for their 5 star service. Thank you!

THEY WILL TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU!!! BEWARE!!! They are only interested in charging the most amount of money for the least amount of work. I had an old unused sprinkler line broken at my work site. Unfortunately, the line was gushing water and could only be shut off from the city access line. The fix was simple, cut the pipe flush and cap it. For a professional, the job would take 5 minutes. When I called for assistance I asked what the rate is for them to come out, the receptionist told me she didn't know they are only an answering service. The serviceman got there 2.5 hours later turned off my water and told me he couldn't complete the job. He told us we needed to call for another serviceman tomorrow morning and today's call was $199.50. I was shocked, I knew it only needed to be capped. I also asked him to cut the other lines shorter to prevent this from happening again. He then told me it was going to be $300 to complete the job. WTF?!? He was there for 10 mins and wanted to charge an additional $100 to cap a few pipes??? He gave me the excuse that it was at a T. I knew this was incorrect, my husband and I were there assessing the problem before they arrived. I knew he lying so I ask my employee to take photos. Once he saw her doing that he went to his van and got the tools and materials to fix it. Before he started to fix it, he demanded I pay $300 upfront. That is an ILLEGAL BUSINESS PRACTICE. Contractors can not make you pay upfront more than 10% as a deposit for an invoice. I argued with him over the phone and then he got to work. He was there for a half-hour, which he spent 15 minutes of it arguing with me. I eventually got him to accept $200 instead of $300. See the pictures of what $200 gets you. Do yourself a favor CALL ANOTHER PLUMBER!

I learned pricing for jobs is arbitrary. Always negotiate on quoted price and even still they may rip you off. The plumber had to be encouraged to replace corroded gas pipe. He planned to return days later to do work for $750. I called gas company same day Gas co turned off gas immediately due to safety concerns and the plumbing company planned to fix it 5 days later. I found an established contractor to come out. They fixed pipe immediately for $200. I've had Stephens do work in past- I realized now I was probably ripped off in cost- the technician comes up with an arbitrary number. What I suggest- get a second opinion and negotiate price by the hundreds of dollars.

I am giving Stephens Plumbing and Heating a five star review! I was looking for a local company to repair my heater and to do some plumbing work. I found Stephens on Yelp and called them because of all the positive reviews. Two wonderful technicians were sent the same day I called and they both did excellent work; solving both of my plumbing and heating issues. Poncho, the heating technician was knowledgable and super nice. He had my 50's era heater repaired and working within an hour. Later in the day, Luis arrived to do a main line clean out and a kitchen faucet installation. Again, super nice and knowledgable; completing each job efficiently. We will call Stephens back for any future needs!

This was an awesome experience start to finish.

The A/C stopped working during one of the hot nights and I noticed a leak at the inside unit the following night. After calling after hours, (and receiving a call back) I decided to wait until morning. I phoned at 8:15am and Omar was there at 8:30!

Omar was patient and spent his time educating me while he worked. When all was done, the cost was reasonable, the A/C worked great and he was done it what seemed like no time. I also know far more about A/C than before.

This is how you make lifelong customers. They've got my business going forward.

These guys did an awesome job as usual.

The main sewer line was damaged due to root intrusion and old age at our home.

After using them a year ago to fix a gas leak at our fourplex, we ended up using Stephens plumbing after getting several ridiculous bids for trenching and relining/repairing our sewer line.

Jose, Oscar, and Frank were extremely thorough, professional, and provided updates regularly throughout the process and the work. No job is too big for them. They were working 8ft underground for a week and patched everything up as if nothing happened.

Highly recommend these guys and will be using them for future work.

Our A/C thermostat needed to be updated, I tried to do it myself and was not able to figure out how to wire a new thermostat.
The man on the phone answered all my questions and I didn't feel pressure to schedule or order anything.
I booked an appointment scheduled within a 2 hours window.
Right on time I recieved a phone call from Poncho to announce he was arriving.
He was very nice came up with all the equipment needed right away, you could tell he was ready!
Poncho suggested the new thermostat we should get, offering other option just in case, he announce the price that was matching the quote they gave me over the phone.
Tested everything made sure we were happy before leaving.
That was fair pricing, efficient visit with professional advice.

Ok, I am positive without a shadow upon a doubt that I found my plumbing company for the rest of my time here on earth. I wanted to email a photo of what was going on with the pipe under my kitchen sink so I could get an IDEA of WHAT was going on with the leak. Ryan at Stephens Plumbing was the first company out of many to allow me to send an email on this problem. Ok, first test passed in my mind. Finding help for your home is a lot like a relationship. If it starts out BAD in the beginning, its NOT going to get ANY better. Ryan worked with my busy schedule, and got a guy to come on a Saturday morning. Frank showed up and was GREAT. Figured out the PROBLEM that the original sink was higher and the new sink was causing pressure which created a leaky pipe. The rates were very reasonable and I will NEVER use another plumbing company. I am sold. Ask for Frank, you cannot go wrong. But I am guessing that ALL of the guys are GOOD!

These guys have been our go-to plumbers for two generations. They are professional and courteous.

We have had them fix gas leaks, plumbing leaks, a fallen garbage disposal, heater issues and they installed our new air conditioning.

We've used them at two houses in San Pedro. I know they go to the South Bay, too.

We've had many different guys come from Stephens to our place and they are all good, letting me know exactly what's going on.

I had a strange thing happen that I reached out to this company about but no one seemed to give a rat's ass. I asked for our two little faucets under the bathroom sink to be turned off. That's it. Well, the guy took my faucet. Yes TOOK THE TOP BRASS FAUCET. I was charged $200 uh, he brought the top faucet back minus the part where it meets the sink. So no putting that back although it matches the other faucet in the SAME BATHROOM. He also gave me a 30 minute presentation on remodeling my bathrooms.

Ouf furnace went out with the first winter storm of the season--which happens to everyone whose furnace is going to go out, so the people we regularly use were booked already for a whole week. The power had gone out with the storm, common to PV, and when it came back on an electrical surge fried our electric motor for the fan of our gas furnace. I made several calls and found all of the heating companies booked out for days, but when Iphoned Stephen's they were true to their website claim and sent a tech within an hour. It was Poncho and he couldn't have been more professional or kind. We trusted his assessment and could see that he really worked it on the supply end, even though the part needed would take several days to come in. He went over and above to get the part and install it.

Stephen's also referred us to a great rooking company who gave the same great service to repair the seal around our furnace vent in the roof, where water was defending the pipes and (separate from the fan motor issue) putting out our igniter.

Stephen's also advised a surge protector that we could buy online and install ourselves so that we won't burn out another motor!

This review is specifically for Jose and Cory who really came through for us on a last minute request on an Extremely hot Friday afternoon close to closing time right before a holiday weekend. I would recommend Stephens to anyone looking for help with buying a HVAC system. I had four different local companies come out for a bid and these guys were the most impressive of the bunch. Andy was very good at describing the scope of work and giving me all options available for my set up. He was upfront about some of the challenges with my job but ensured me that his techs could get the job done. I had many, many, questions for Andy and he answered them all either in person or on the phone.

When Freddie and his team showed up to do the install, his guys were on the ball and had the goal of getting the job done as quickly as possible with quality of the systems efficiency in mind. Freddie was very thorough in explaining to me how the HVAC systems works and why certain ducts and returns had to go in certain places. Freddy was very patient with me and my questions and when it came to crunch time, he even came on a Saturday to finish my job! The AC unit that Freddie installed made my house feel like Narnia, super cold!

For those of you on a budget, they were the 2nd lowest bid of the four we got and they were number one in explaining to me how things would work and why. They also offered 9 month 0% financing through a 3rd party, on approved credit.

Before I met these guys at Stephens I figured that all of these HVAC companies were pretty similar, and boy was I wrong!

Andy, Freddie, and team treated me like family and made sure the system was installed and would work like they would want their own system to work at home. They were honest, personable, intelligent, and I'm very impressed with them. Give them a shot!

I was able to make an appointment for next business day, in the afternoon. Manny was the representative that came. He was on time, clean and extremely patient. I had a leak in a pipe that was going up through the closet, and after looking at the issue was, he acknowledge it would take an hour plus labor and got it done as quick and clean as possible. Quality parts used and he was also glad to explain what he was doing while he worked.

I got quotes from others and looking at Manny from Stephens Plumbing, I'm glad I went with these guys.

Jose & Cory were great helping first to hydojet our main sewer drain that was completely clogged due to the the neighbors tree roots. It was so bad that we had to arrange for the city clay tile side (where the problem was) to be re-lined to permanently correct the situation.
It was complicated and a big task.

I am sorry to say that I have had repeated bad experiences with Stephens Plumbing. The last experience sent me looking for another plumbing company (thankfully, I found one). One of Stephens plumbers came to my house (on a weekday) to fix a clogged drain. He was there a total of 15 minutes. Since the bill was going to the owner of the property, I didn't see it, but I later learned they charged her $280 for the supposed repair! One month later, the same problem occurred again. It was extremely difficult to schedule an appointment with Stephens and they couldn't find the previous invoice, so it would mean paying for the repair again. So I called another plumbing company and soon discovered that an old, corroded piece of pipe was clogging the drain - something Stephens should have seen and removed. Andy had me check to see if the outside fan was on. It wasn't. Then he walked me through finding the right circuit breaker and resetting it (all for free.. All on the phone).

This weekend our main line got clogged. Suddenly my wife and I were living in a third world village, like in Somalia. The girls had to go to the store to do their business.

Well I found out about plumbers in Los Angeles. I guess most of us look in the yellow pages to find a plumber. What I discovered that plumbers no longer attend junior college to learn the craft of plumbing. They instead take marketing and theater in school.

What I'm talking about are the ones that take out full page ads' in the yellow pages. Promising instant gratification, special discounts, and clean smelling men.

What I got were lectures about how my 50 year house was not to current building code. And to do the job properly they're going to have to make some modifications first. Such as proving an extra large clean out for $3000, and then maybe he could resolve my problem. I called several other headliner plumbers. They came and all gave a well rehearsed routine how I need this and that, in addition to what I actually wanted.

I looked for plumbers on Yelp. I found Stephens Plumbing & Heating. They had everything working great in 45 minutes, at a fraction of what the headliners wanted. I also had them fix my house to code for a tenth of what the others wanted.

When it comes to forced-air furnaces, Stephens Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning is in the business of selling and installing new units. They're not in the business of inspecting and repairing units that didn't originate with them. That is for what I needed them, and they failed miserably.

I learned about Stephens from a Money Mailer insert that offered free heater inspection and a new heater as low as $1,999. I wanted the inspection and a repair estimate on my existing unit. I told them this repeatedly over the phone. What I received instead was a joke, a complete waste of my time.

The Stephens heating inspector looked at my old furnace from outside my crawl space, a good 10 feet away from it, and said, That's a Consolidated model. We don't repair them. When I told him it's a Lennox and not one made by Consolidated, he announced promptly (without knowing a thing about my unit) that, Lennox doesn't make that gas valve anymore. The gas valve is a Honeywell. It's written plainly on the outside of the valve.

When I asked him if he'd like me to switch on the furnace, he insisted that I do not. It was as if he was afraid of it. When I asked him if he'd like me to take the cover off the firebox, he said no but added, The heat exchanger is rusted and will leak carbon monoxide. When I asked him how he knew this without seeing it, he shined a flashlight through a narrow opening on the side of a closed door and said, I can see it from here. Again, this was all done after he made his initial statement. He must have X-ray vision. He couldn't see jack and my furnace has never leaked CO2.

Then, for no reason whatsoever, he squeezed one of my wrapped vent pipes and said that my furnace doesn't heat my home evenly because the vents are some type of old, non-energy efficient composite fiber. (I forgot his exact term.) They're not; they're sheet aluminum and wrapped completely with very effective insulation. When the furnace works, it heats my home beautifully. However, the furnace is currently in need of repair, which is why I'm gathering repair estimates.

So, basically, the guy did precious nothing. He was wrong on all counts, would not look inside the unit, would not observe its operation, never set foot in my house, spent little time in my crawl space and called his mere presence, and some minor poking around (like touching my gas line with his finger and gripping the insulation around a vent pipe), an inspection. Then, he left me a written estimate for $3,200.00 to install a replacement Maytag MG Series furnace for an added $1,200 more than the Money Mailer flyer amount.

Needless to say, I will NOT be calling Stephens Plumbing, Heating & AC again -- ever. I was extremely disappointed by the downright awful quality of the company's so-called inspection and their serviceperson's obvious lack of knowledge. I believe their inspector was nothing more than a licensed installer, completely unqualified to assess the condition of older furnaces. From the get go, his pitch was for replacement, from 10 feet away from a furnace whose make and model he did not know.

IN ANSWER TO GARY S.' RESPONSE: Free should not mean inferior. Nor should inspections be done by unqualified staff who are nothing more than salesmen and/or installers. Your company loses nothing by offering free inspections if your intention is to provide excellent repair service. But your company's true goal is to sell new heating units, regardless of the condition of the existing unit.

Based on what I experienced (and my review is 100% truthful), I was sent the equivalent of a used car salesman when I was promised an expert heating inspector. It is impossible to assess the condition of a closed, switched off furnace's firebox from 10 feet away, yet that is what your inspector -- and you -- claimed he was doing. That's like an auto mechanic looking at my non-running car parked with the hood down from across the street and telling me that I need a whole new engine. It's dishonest, plain and simple.

My husband and I have dealt with Stephens for quite now for plumbing issues and have always been very satisfied with their work. About a month ago we asked for a quote to replace our heater and to install a new air conditioning system. The quote was extremely reasonable as compared to others that we got. We decided to go with them based on our past experience with them and the reasonableness of the quote.

Everything turned out just wonderfully. They did an outstanding job and were always very prompt and worked very efficiently. Freddy was in charge of the work and took great pride in doing the job very properly. His assistant was very helpful too and they got the job done in good time. They showed us what they were doing each step of the way to assure and inform us what was being done. Freddy had to do ALOT of extra work to get the condenser installed properly outside but worked at it diligently until it was. It was so additionally helpful as there was electrical work involved with this work and the quote included Stephens getting that all sorted out for us. They also pulled the permits and set up the inspection too.

In the end when all was done we were so pleased that there were no surprise additions to the quote. That is so often not the case when you get a quote.
We would HIGHLY recommend Stephens.

I have used Stephens twice and both times they were great! Most recently I had Stephens fix a serious leak and Mr. Williams was fantastic. He diagnosed the problem and thoroughly reviewed plans to repair it. He went over the piping being used and kept invasive holes to run the piping to a bare minimum. Communication by Allen the dispatcher was excellent, letting me know when Mr. Williams would arrive well in advance. Mr. Williams did an A+++ job. Highly recommend Stephens.

Although he tried, the toilet could not be saved - but he worked it into his busy schedule to come back to the house at the end of his day to install our new toilet. He even helped me install the new bidet attachment that I had been too intimidated to do myself! Our house only has one bathroom, so we really appreciated his effort in making the time to help us out in a bind. Our house went on the market on Saturday and plumbing went sideways on Sunday. I called Stephens on Monday and was lucky enough to get Art. There was major problems under the house and he went right to work for 2 days. Art was fantastic and such a hard worker. Explained every step and got the job done without a mess. Victor came to my son's home on 10-12-19 because the water heater was making gurgling sounds. It turned out to be a running toilet in the same room. Victor replaced the toilet handle only and charged $196.00 for labor and 18.99 for the handle. He said he would have to go to Home Depot for a toilet handle and was gone 50 minutes. The actual work only took 30 minutes. Stephens charges you for their trips to Home Depot when they should carry parts in their trucks. I was very pleased with the work that Hector, the Stephens Plumbing Co., plumber who came to my home in San Pedro two days ago. He arrived on time, and I received a phone call 10 minutes before he arrived. He quickly diagnosed the problem with my water heater vent and said he would order a new part and call me when it is received. He also checked out my two gas fireplaces that I thought might be leaking gas. He tested all the valves and told me that there was no leak in either fireplace . . . saving me money on repairs. I would definitely use Stephens Plumbing again, and would ask for Hector.

I had a drip coming from the upstairs bath into my kitchen. I found Stephens Plumbing via Google. In a panic, I called and spoke with a really nice lady and asked for someone ASP. I wanted them here by 12:00 noon, that was like 5-8 minutes from the time of the call. Well, the window was by 2:00 p.m. Louie got here real quick, discovered the exact problem , all the while I am praying for it not to be a major job. I was texting family members to pray and questioning Louie about the cost, etc. He assured me it would not be bad, I kept praying. He was finished in about an hour and the price was better than I could imagine! Well, free would be better but this is still great.
I would recommend them to anyone that need quick service, professional and pleasant plumber. I don't know anything about the Smell Good Plumber BUT, STEPHENS PLUMBING GETS MY VOTE AND BUSINESS.

Our landlord has been using Stephens for about five years or so now, ever since a previous plumber showed up hungover, creeped us out, and blatantly tried to rip off the landlord (we like our landlord). We've always had good, fast service from them and I believe they are fairly priced. We just went through a super confusing gas leak issue and Hector from Stephens was right there with us trying to get everything sorted out with the gas company. He was knowledgeable, patient and friendly and really wanted to get our gas back on, even though it seemed like the universe was against us and wanted us to have cold showers forever.

We have been using Stephens for our plumbing needs for years after the last plumber we had flaked out on us. They've always been reliable, and this last job was no exception. We had a line break under our house on a Friday night (Friday the 13th, with a full moon to boot!), and we had to turn off our water to the house. We called Stephens on Saturday morning and spoke with a very nice dispatcher. Despite it being a busy weekend he managed to send out Victor who quickly assessed the problem. Stephens Plumbing, Heating and Air is great! My air conditioner died and a neighbor of mine recommended Stephens. They sent Poncho out the next day. I was really nervous because my air conditioning unit is more than 20 years old plus it's pretty inaccessible on my roof and for replacement, a crane has to be brought out and it can be quite expensive. I was so relieved when Poncho was able to diagnose the problem within 30 minutes and he was able to order the part and repair the fan that was in my attic. It took a couple of days to get the part in, but Poncho was great about contacting me and letting me know when he was going to be able to return to finish the repair. I have nothing but good things to say about this company, not only was Poncho wonderful, but even the individuals who answer the calls are extremely nice and really great about getting back to you. I will be recommending Stephens (and Poncho) to my neighbors!

I had a clog in my tub/shower drain line. I tried another plumbing company to snake the line, but they were unsuccessful and recommended an expensive hydro jet as the next option. This is an instance where I chose a business on Yelp reviews and was so disappointed. It takes a whole lot for me to leave a bad review, and usually if I don't have something nice to say I don't say anything at all.

We bought a condo a block away from this business, and since the condo was too far for my traditional plumber to travel we called these guys. They came the next day, and charged us three hours for work that we later found out could have been done in half the time.

Their plumber came out, said he fixed the three items we asked him to do and left. It was the end of the day, we locked up and went home. Returned the next morning to find out water was pouring into the unit below ours, and the garage below that. The HOA had called out another plumber who had to turn off the water to ALL 22 units to find the issue. When we went into our place we saw water on the kitchen floor. The new plumber opened the cabinet under the sink to find Stephen's Plumbing had left a bucket under a leaking hose under the sink, overnight the bucket overflowed and poured into the unit below. So the we had to pay $200 for a new plumber to fix Stephen's mess, which only took 25 minutes! He couldn't believe the Stephen's guy had been there for three hours for work that should take 1 hour max, and then left a flipping bucket with a leaking hose under our sink without telling us.

When we called the Stephen's plumbers' cell phone we told him what happened and first he lied and said he didn't work the day before, when my husband identified himself, the guy just said my bad, my bad then confessed he was getting pressure from the office to leave our job and move onto the next job.

So apparently the company charges everyone 3 hours of work, and when 3 hours are up they push their guys to move on to another job. Even if that means water leaking all over your house and surrounding units. I called Stephen's to tell them what happened, the guy who answered said he would have a supervisor call us, and that none were available at the time. Of course no one ever called, or came to look at the issue, but we later heard from the Stephen's plumber that the supervisor did call him and told him not to talk to us directly anymore. I guess they are worried about liability. So we're out $287 to Stephen's, $200 for the guy who fixed Stephen's work, and who knows what the damage will be in the neighbors unit.

Ugh! Do NOT use these guys. Unless you want major water damage to your home. The worst. And to Stephen's, if you had called to resolve this mess I wouldn't have left a poor review. Lesson learned.

RESPONSE TO STEPHEN'S COMMENT BELOW: The great thing about YELP is it provides customers a place to share their true experiences. I am far to busy to leave specious reviews of businesses. I rarely leave a negative review because I don't want to ding a business who was just having a bad day. But this is 100% true. The poor work was done by your staff member. I am the CEO of a construction company so it is not a lack of understanding on our part about what was supposed to be done. Had you or one of your supervisors actually responded to our calls to come out and see the work (we were only a few blocks away) we would have shown you the cause and effect of your staff persons work. However you never called back, and not having come to see the situation for yourself, your comments merely demonstrate wishful thinking and lack credibility. Can I leave zero stars?!?! Just another example of a company who doesn't value your time. I was told I had the first appt at 8:30. Around 9:15, I called. There was an emergency meeting and everything was getting held back. I was never told I had a 2 hour window, but was promised someone would be there before 10:30. At 10:00, I get a call that they want to push the window to 10:30-12:30. Please ... The person who recommended Stephens to me, nor I, will ever use them again! Didn't help that EVERY person I

We used Stephen's plumbing to install a new AC/heater unit. The person I spoke with on the phone was very professional and gave me a confident feeling of their company. Rob came out to try to fix it, but he said it was time for a new one. The quote they gave me was better than other companies, and Rob assured me they will do a good job. Chris and Andrew came out a week later and they worked hard! They both were professional, updated me on the progress and cleaned up afterwards so there was no mess. You can tell they wanted to do a good job and they were great!

Great end result. Replaced broken water heater. The new water heater works well and was expertly installed. William and Manny P. were very conscientious, and the lead guy William was very knowledgeable about the task.

Arrived 1.5 hours after 12-2 time promised, but I cannot complain since my job ran over the expected time when the water heater would barely drain (probably due to sediment buildup over 12 years). The guys agreed to wait for the water heater to drain (we needed to get it done Sat. and not wait until Monday), and their boss approved, even though it would be MANY hours. Fortunately, I located a compressor and the guys used it to open the clogged drain an hour later, so waiting turned out to be the right decision. The job still took 4.5 hours (until 8 p.m.) and we appreciated the guys staying to get the job done on a Sat. night.

Miguel and Frank came out to help us with our sink and shower issues. The sink was getting this sewer smell and the shower was super clogged. The team was extremely helpful, thorough and friendly. On the hottest day of the year my AC went out, of course. Not really knowing anyone in town I called Sears to come out, tell me if it was able to be repaired (it's very old) and if not, give me a quote on a new one. He quickly said it was not able to be repaired and quoted me between 14k and 16k for a new unit. I tried not to panic and thanked him. Of course he wanted an immediate commitment. Ha! This brings me to Stephens. I called them on the 2nd hottest day of the year and spoke to Ryan. He was very nice and said although they were swamped he would try to get to me. He called me a few hours later and said Oscar was on his way. Oscar showed up, went to look at the unit, came down with a small fuse in his hand. Come to find out, that's all it needed!!! For the price of a service call, he saved my sanity and my personality cuz I found out that when it passes 100 in the house both degrade dramatically. I know this AC is elderly and soon it will need to be replaced, I know that only Stephens will do that for me. Thank you so much Ryan and Oscar!!!

This is the ONLY company I use for repairing my air conditioner/heating unit in my home. I had to find a receipt from 2008 to remember who fixed it then because they did excellent work then and they did excellent work yesterday. Their prices are VERY fair and their employees are very knowledgeable and nice. They don't try to rip you off at all. The last time I had my duct work replaced on top of the repair I needed. They were so reasonable I asked how much would they charge for the duct work, and that was reasonable too, so I had them do it. Yesterday I had them come out because I had a small water leak. The repair guy showed me what was wrong, cleared the line and showed me what was clogging the water line. Cleaned the unit inside and outside. I don't write reviews much but I know when it comes to A/C and heating problems, some companies will rip you off or they don't really know what they're doing. Stephens is the BEST by far. Thanks guys!!! Much appreciated. Oh, and my unit is an older Carrier. And my serviceman was Oscar. He was great!

Being new to the area and needing our HVAC system to be serviced we turned to yelp reviews to guide us. Stephens Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning had great reviews so we called them. Anthony & Freddy were at our home yesterday. They are great. Very efficient and honest. They explained everything and performed a routine maintenance as well as a complete HVAC system check. There were no hidden charges and they were extremely dilligent and incredibly nice men. I highly recommend this company. The companies plumbers will be coming out on Monday to service our tankless water heater. So glad we found them.

I live in Palos Verdes Estates, and I feel as though I get charged a premium when plumbers or electricians come to my house because of my zip code. Kind of annoying, but whatever. I recently renovated my upstairs bathroom, and apparently the workers who demo'd the bathtub tiles allowed debris to fall into the bathtub drain, almost completely clogging it (it was draining fine before the demo). I called Mattucci Plumbing first, and 2 guys tried to snake the drain, which they claimed didn't work. Mattucci Plumbing then told me that it would cost over $3,000 (opening the walls and replacing pipes) to fix it because they couldn't free the debris with the snake. I wasn't happy, and so I called Stephens Plumbing to get a second opinion, and Art came out. I told him that another plumber tried a snake and it didn't free the drain. He told me well it wasn't Stephen's Plumbing who tried it. I laughed politely, but didn't think it would work. Regardless, he was really confident he could fix it and crossed my fingers. Well, it worked! Art diagnosed the problem, went through a main drain area for the snake (instead of through the small bathtub drain), and 30 minutes later my bathtub drain was working perfectly. I didn't have to break open my walls, and he only charged me $200 instead of the $3,000 that the other plumber quoted me. Wow, so glad I got the second opinion from Stephens. Thanks Art, you are awesome. Really polite, very knowledgeable, and obviously really experienced. You are my plumber for life!!! Stephens didn't overcharge me for the work, and knew exactly how to fix it in the least invasive and cost-effective way. I highly recommend calling Stephens, and Art in particular.

My shower valve was leaking, so I called Stephen's, as I have done in the past. Hector came out to look at the situation and ordered the part. He later installed the valve, which had a defect, so he got another and installed that, no extra charge. In the process, Hector identified a leak in the wall from a shower arm above the shower valve and fixed that, too, just for the cost of the new shower arm. Everything is working smoothly now, and I recommend Stephens and Hector highly. I would also say that I was very comfortable with the respect Hector showed me and my home.

I am so glad the management company at my condo uses this company for all their plumbing repairs.I told the management company they would have to come out early before I left for work because I didn't want anyone coming into my place when I'm not there and my cats accidentally go out the front door. Stephens plumbing sent out Miguel to diagnose the problem with the unusual noise coming from the bottom of my floor whenever I use the cold water. He got there right on time as promised, he was extremely professional and courteous and said he could replace my aging and faulty pressure regulator the following morning. We had a great experience with Manny! We had a clog in our upstairs shower and called a local plumber..this guy, Raul at Unstoppable Plumbing, tried to rip is off (wanted $450 and had the wrong tools!). Hector was excellent. I used to live in a town home in another part of San Pedro and I always found Stevens to be more customer service oriented. We had our water heater go out on us. I called and they said they could be out in 2 hours. I said great, make sure you bring a 40 gal water heater wither you. No problem, he says. David shows up, and proceeds to tell me 10 different reasons why a 40 gal water heater won't fit where the existing 40 gal water heater is. He even took dimensions and walked around it 20 times. I said well lets just see...He said he didn't bring one. I told him the guy on the phone said no problem in bring one. He laughed and told me he never got the memo. He said he would go back to the business and see if he could get a smaller one. I knew he wasn't coming back. Sure enough, he calls, he can't find one for another couple days. I used them a couple of times because we knew the owners wife who was our kids preschool teacher (thought we would get a better deal or at least not get ripped off....) guess again. Got an estimate for a job of $1200. Job was finished a lot faster than thought yet got charged the $1200....., my thought was WTF?! They explained that sometimes the job gets done faster and sometimes longer. This is BS IMO. I do think they do good work but they overcharge. You know how tough it is to find an honest plumber/heater guy (..like a good doctor, mechanic, etc). Well, Stephens surprised me

I had my furnace go out during this past cold spell, and I had to choose from an authorized list from the manufacturer to get it covered under warranty.

First of all, they were friendly on the phone and gave me a heads up call when they were 30m out. Good. They were running late, and gave me a followup call with the new time - not too bad.

Sean was our tech. He was upfront on the estimate, very knowledgeable, and actually took the time to explain the problem. Said to call back with any question or problems.

They even mailed me a thank you card. Stands out from the rest. Very friendly and I would use them again.

Probably one of the most unorganized plumbing outfits around. The property management company that runs my apartment uses these guys exclusively. They must give them a huge discount because they really are the worst.

My first encounter with Stephens plumbing was in november 2013. My apartment was being sold and the inspector had required a pressure relief valve be installed on the tankless water heater. Simple enough. This took over 6 visits from them and 3 visits from the inspector until they had it right. Then to make matters worse, without asking me first, they scheduled the final inspection for christmas eve. Who would schedule an inspection at someones home on christmas eve without checking with the tenant first. When I called to express my displeasure I was met with a bag of attitude from the dispatcher. We got into a agressive verbal argument. Needless to say i was hoping to never deal with them again.

Flash forward to 4 days ago when the same tankless water heater broke. I called my landlord and they sent these guys back out. My first reaction was here we go again. But i decided to be polite and hope for a better experience, my mistake. The first day plumber number 1 came in and looked like he'd rather be anywhere else in the world. He looked at it and said it's broken and they'd deal with it the next day. The next day plumber number 2 came in and did the same thing except he seemed a little more professional. He called the management company and got the approval to replace it. We agreed to have it done on friday. We had a funeral to attend in the am, so we asked them to come at 11. My wife took the day off to deal with it as i had to be at work at 1pm. They called several times to say they hadn't forgot about us, but no one showed up until 4pm. Plumber number 3 came in and all he did was look at the unit to see what parts he would need for the next day? The next day?! My wife had been sitting here all day for that? To top it off that means I had to Take a whole day off on saturday? That puts a huge hole in our pocket book. The majority of my income comes from the weekend. I was/am furious. It's now saturday and plumbers 4 and 5 are here on time for once. After about an hour, they realized they have the wrong parts to complete the job. Of course they do. I'm now sitting here waiting for them to go to the supply house and pick up the right ones. It's comical how unorganized these guys are.

So to recap, do yourself a favor and never use this company.

I had previously used them a year ago for installation of a water pressure regulator because my incoming pressure was over 130 psi. This summer my air conditioner broke during end of July and Chris was able to order a big Maytag unit and scheduled installation within two weeks. Freddy the master technician was super knowledgeable! He was very professional and patiently answered all my questions. He works in a methodical way and does not take short cuts. I manage a commercial building in the Redondo Beach area. Stephens is out go to when the Air conditioning has problems. Tenants are very impatient especially on warmer days. when their A/C is not functioning. Thank god for Stephens. I can usually get them out here same day and have the problem resolved quickly. When the AC goes out at home, it only affects a few people. When it goes out at work, it's another story. Many people are affected and it needs to be fixed ASAP, especially in this heat.

The air conditioning went out in my office yesterday so I called Stephens. Phirom was the tech they sent and he was able to get us up and running same day. He told me that the capacitor was bad and needed to be replaced. Needless to say, we're no longer sweating in the office. Thanks!

I used Stephens on 3 different occasions for 3 different problems my house had in the past year, and each time they showed up as promised, were able to complete the job in a timely manner, and charged less than the competitors. On one of these occasions I called out one of the major plumbing companies that advertise on the radio about their pleasant smelling plumbers and the amount they quoted me was outrageous! I called Stephen's Plumbing, Heating and Air for an AC installation. My experience has been excellent! They were able to send Andy, out the next morning. Andy was on time, professional, he is very personable and is very knowledgeable. One hour later I called again to see if they would be coming out at all that day. They said they would call me back and they never did call to even followup and reschedule. I usually don't like writing reviews, but I had a terrible time with all the follow up calls (4 times) and dealing with their excuses and flakiness. Completely unprofessional company. I would think they would want to gain business and not lose business.

Stephen's Plumbing in San Pedro is not only the WORST plumbing company I have had any dealings with, Stephen's Plumbing in San Pedro is the worst company in general I have ever dealt with. I do not know how Stephen's Plumbing in San Pedro stays in business. I would not recommend this company to anyone, even if I hated them. My advice is any plumber would be better to call than Stephen's Plumbing in San Pedro.

Today I had my floor furnace circa 1929 repaired! I was lucky to have Omar on the job!
This antique of a floor furnace needed some tender care and my furnace was repaired in a few days! Omar took the broken component to the shop, repaired it and brought it back in a couple of short days! We called Stephens Plumbing, Heating & A/C in April to fix a problem with the drain hose coming from our dishwasher to the garbage disposal. I was pleasantly surprised when they said they could come out the same day.

Williams arrived on time and did a great job not only fixing the problem, but re-working the position of the disposal to make the pipe configuration less complicated, leaving us more room under the sink for storage. He was very friendly and professional, did the work quickly, and made sure to check the system numerous times to ensure that all was working well. I would definitely recommend them, and am in fact, calling them today to fix my leaky water heater. :-)

Two stars because they are at least presentable looking and courteous when speaking to them.

These guys have been contracted by the Miraleste Canyon Estates HOA for several projects including working on a water main. Which they have had to do OVER and OVER and OVER again. I understand that working on a water main requires you to cut off water to those it supplies, but when you are having to do it four or five days every month for the last several months, clearly you are doing a project you do not have the man power for. Every time they work on it and give an estimated time for the water to be turned back on it is at least and hour or more before the water is turned back on. Other times it is turned off without notification at all.

I have lived in my apartment for about a year now and I just encountered my first plumbing issue this morning. My garbage disposal wasn't working so I called the manager. Come to find out, my building uses Stephens Plumbing. Instead of immediately assuming I needed a new garbage disposal he attempted to un-jam it. To my surprise, this was successful. There always seems to be a Stephens truck in our condominium complex, so I figured Iwe couldn't go wrong, calling them up to look at a slow-moving bathroom sink drain. They didn't disappoint! Very professional! Two plumbers showed up, so they got the job done very quickly, hey even took the time to look at an unrelated issue in a different sink. This is our first home, and we are not the DIY sort; so, dealing with repairs can be overwhelming. Having also dispensed with the home warranty that came with the unit, opting to keep money set aside for repairs, rather than paying to keep the warranty, we're extremely happy to have Stephens on call. Called Stephen's after office hours and was happily helped by a lady. I was shocked to find out that when I came to work the next day at 8:15am they had already returned my call! Omar was sent out to fix our a/c. He did a great job and answered all my questions! I was one of those annoying customers that scheduled my a/c to be fixed and asked questions about plumbing, our water heater, and a fan in the bathroom. Nonetheless, he was patient, he answered all the questions he could and went a step beyond and checked on some of the other concerns I was having. He is also checking on some parts for my other concerns. I received the best customer service from start to finish and had everything fixed in 3 days. I was shocked with the efficiency. I should also mention this was for my business not my home! We are now considering using them for preventive maintenance after the amazing service we received!

I had my water heater replaced. I got a quote right away and was able to easily schedule an appointment. The guys that came out were professional, friendly, did a terrific job and cleaned up after themselves. While there was a slight misunderstanding with the office staff, it was rectified immediately. I got a thank you card in the mail after the service and a follow up call. What I like most about them is they didn't try to oversell me. I have had a couple of plumbers that have tried to oversell me by thousands of dollars. Not Stephens. They now have a new ongoing customer.

We are extremely happy with Stephens Plumbing!! We had a horrible leak from our upstairs bathroom downstairs through our kitchen light. We called Stephens Plumbing and Manny was here within the hour. I called Stephens Plumbing because my furnace was not working. The receptionist was very friendly. She was able to schedule an appointment within a couple of days. Omar was the service technician that came to my house at the scheduled time. He was very professional, friendly and helpful. He was able to diagnose the problem within a couple of minutes. He showed me exactly what was wrong with my furnace and told me how he was going to fix it. We called Stephens on a Saturday morning on the hottest day of the year when our air conditioning went out. Omar came out immediately and diagnosed our problem. Through not fault of Stephens they couldn't get the part until Monday morning but he was back out by 10:30 and out A/C was up and running within 15 minutes. I was really disappointed in these guys. Called to have them come out to do a general check on HVAC including furnace and AC. The furnace fan was making noise so I suspected a problem.

Two guys came out (one to hold the tool bag) Spend 20 minutes on the diagnosis and indicated a replacement of the furnace fan was required. Went to get the fan. Came back and replaced in 45 minutes. Asked if they checked the AC/. Said no, put gauges on and said coolant was low. Said they would have to come back a THIRD time for that.

Labor for 65 minutes was 285.00 and they still did not do all they should have done. total bill was $619. Fan motor was expensive, but not their issue.

Was hoping to find a reliable HVAC contractor. It isn't Stephens.

Yes I would like to say this company is all about money. Had a leaking toilet and was referred to Hector. On the phone he starts going on about how they will charge me 2hundred per hour. And more for parts. He said maybe 4 or 5 hundred more for parts. He started talking about coming over and shutting the valves off near our toilet I said I only have one toilet where do I go to the bathroom at? He said I don't know if I can fix it today. He has also kept asking for my name and address. I gave it to him once so i repeated it. This conversation was very unprofessional to say the least. He acted like he didn't want to deal with it basically. Bottom line is I called someone else. I felt like he would rip me off. Those parts that he mentioned could have been inexpensive parts at home depot. I am a senior and didn't appreciate this. It's all about money. I think the red flag started at the beginning of our conversation when he mentioned I have to warn you it will cost you 2 hundred dollars per hour. I thought I'd die from fear!

There was some work done on my neighbors unit and the water was turned off for a few hours. When they turned it back on the water pressure was low and my landlord called these guys back in to fix it.
A kid arrived in a dirty, untucked Stephens uniform later that night. (Pretty standard for San Pedro). The first thing he asked me when he walked in the door was to use my bathroom. Extremely unprofessional... you use the bathroom BEFORE you arrive at a customer's residence.
Against my better judgement, I let him use my bathroom. I thought it was awful quiet in there, seeing that he had to go so bad. He comes out and goes to work on the kitchen sink. Turns out it's just some debris caught in the filter of the faucet. Should take about 3 minutes to clear right? Nope... took him a half hour AND a trip down to his van to get this done. It was actually getting creepy.. him standing there rinsing this quarter of an inch screen for what seemed to be forever.
While he was out in his van I went to check my bathroom. He Urinated all over my toilet seat! GROSS! He didn't even bother to lift the seat! Once I saw that, I just wanted him gone! I told him about it, he apologized, and offered clean it up but I really just wanted him to leave.
I even asked him, What's taking so long? He'd already showed me it wasn't the water pressure and how fast the water ran without the blockage. But he didn't seem to want to leave. Personally, I think he was wasting time so they could charge more. (Within 4 minutes he'd shown me the it wasn't the water pressure, and yet this took a half hour).
Just as I was going to INSIST he leave my home, he finished up. I've asked my landlord to never send this service to my home again.

Good response time, great service and quality work. My woman's house had a hot water heater that sprung a severe leak in the incoming line I called Stephens plumbing requesting a line repair and a new hot water heater (the currant heater being a rust bucket museum piece). Jose the technician arrived in the mid morning informing me of my options, then he quoted me a price. That very afternoon he and his partner Cory had the heater in place and humming. I thought it would take a lot longer because the hot water heater that was replaced was approximately 20 years old. It was a very narrow 40 gallon tank with a custom outdoor housing. Jose was able to find a similar heater matching the dimensions required to keep the exterior housing intact (thank god). The work was quick and efficient and on point with the quote they had given me earlier. I will be using Stephens Plumbing again with out a doubt. Thank You gentlemen for your assistance.

My husband and I have always been totally pleased with the quality, promptness, and reasonable costs of the plumbing and heating services offered by Stephens Plumbimg! Yesterday, Hector came to unstop a blockage between our two bathrooms. He was running a bit late but politely called to say that he'd be there shortly-- and he was! My husband, who is an engineer, was impressed with Hector's analytical approach to the problem. Hector asked questions and explored several viable options and methodically proceeded to solve the problem. In addition, he was able to diagnose a nuisance noise issue with one of our Toto toilets. It's unusual to find a plumber who is knowledgeable, competent, analytical, courteous, and personable. Hector is all of these! How fortunate for Stephen's to have such an amazing plumber on their team.

Cannot believe that a local plumbing company would try to charge us $500.00 for a part...yes part only, not labor, when I can pick up at any Home Depot or Lowe's shelf for $79.00. (yes I checked model number) Hopefully they will do the right thing and re-think their business practices ....I can see double the part price or triple even.....but c'mon. Really makes me sad to have to deal with this when you try to use our home town businesses. Yet another 5 star review. You can tell a good company when they consistently provide good service. Had a leak under the sink and scheduled an appt the day before. How refreshing when they give you a window of time (8-10am) and they show up 15 minutes into the window. Salvador and Luis got after it straight away. Found the leak and repaired it. My central AC started blowing warm during the recent heat wave, and Stephens was able to fit me in for an early appointment, despite having a busy day planned. Omar came out and diagnosed the refrigerant leak from two different valves on the outside unit. It took longer than he'd planned to get it all done, but he stuck with it until it was fixed right. Now the AC is blowing cold again.

This used to be a great company, and our condominium complex has used them for years. They installed a wall heater for me a year and a half ago. It stopped working. When they came out to fix it, they told me they were getting many calls about this particular unit and that it was substandard. I asked why they had installed it with high recommendations and they said they didn't know it was substandard at the time and their company couldn't absorb the loss of profit. Wall heater units usually last at least 5 years and this one cost $1,500 to have it purchased and installed by Stephen's Plumbing. After a year and a half, it fails and they offer me zero options...just a tough luck for you reply. They also charged me $90.00 for the inspection. It sounds like these guys might be better at plumbing issues. I'd avoid them if you are having heater or electrical concerns.

I had a leaking toilet. Had three service calls where I spent $$$ and the ending recommendation was - you need a new toilet. Ordered a new toilet which was installed on a timely basis with no further issues. Bottom line, although it took longer than I liked and cost a little more than I would have liked, I probably would not have believed the serviceman if on his first visit he said that I needed a new toilet. Oscar and Andy were very professional, we had an entire AC and furnace replacement, price was reasonable and done well. I had a drain line leaking inside the wall. I called Stephens Plumbing & Heating for a free estimate. I was given the appointment window of 8-10am. The plumbers came at 2:30pm. They misdiagnosed the issue, and charged me a very high service call price to essentially tighten up the threaded plug on the santee, which i initially assumed was part of the free estimate. I had to call a different plumber to fix the drain line leak issue. I probably won't use services from Stephens Plumbing & Heating again.

I'd give a zero if I could. These people are the absolute worst. They installed a heater/air unit for us a few years ago and one of the parts broke earlier this year. I've been calling them since March and can't them to fix the heater. They've come out twice and both times have said that they need to come back to fix it, but I've been calling every day now and still nothing has happened. They keep trying to say that someone else is supposed to help me, but no one ever calls back. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. The service is the worst I've ever seen.

We've had Stephen's Plumbing do 3 different jobs for us. The first one - 3 years ago - was great. Came out quickly, got the job done, price was reasonable. The second one - 1 year ago - the repair person missed window of time I was give by 2 hours, and then couldn't fix the problem without ordered a part. That was fine - but it took more than a week to get the repair person back out on the job, and I had to repeatedly call to get the appointment scheduled. I kept getting told that the part would be picked up that day and I'd get a call back later to schedule, but nobody would call me back.

The last job was ridiculous. First, took a couple of days to get the appointment scheduled, and then the repair person missed the appointment window by two hours. Diagnosed problem, but had to come back out with different tools/equipment. Fine. Was told the office would call me to schedule. Never called - I called back at the end of the next day. Was told would be called in the morning after the dispatcher talked to the repair person. Wasn't called. Had to call back and was told same story. This went on for a couple of days. The day before Thanksgiving (and I had wanted fixed before Thanksgiving and had called a week and a half before Thanksgiving), was told I would be called about noon. No call. Called at 12:30 - was told would be called at 1. No call. Called back at 1:30 - oh, was told that everybody went home for Thanksgiving and I would be called on Monday. Called another company, and got the issue fixed in one day. Still have never received call back from Stephens.

Terrible customer service.

Back in October 2014 I developed a leak in my laundry room that turned into a small flooding situation. Called Stephens only because I had a flyer. They said someone would be out between 4 and 5 PM. As my water was still coming into the house I was getting slightly hysterical, so I called at 5 PM asking where he was and they said the guy would be on his way in about 15 minutes. Strike one that I had to call about that. Strike two was the young man did locate the leak and put only a temporary fix on it, meaning I still had to call someone the next day to permanently fix it. Strike three was he recommended a water damage mitigation company by the name of California Restoration whose office is in Chatsworth - reviews are on Yelp; don't pay attention to the positive ones; they were probably paid to write them - which turned out to be a sheister organization that specializes in bilking insurance companies by submitting extremely exorbitant bills to insurance companies as long as they have your signature on their contract that they make you sign without giving an estimate and which contract has in extremely small letters that you are responsible for any balance that is not paid. They take advantage of people who are short circuiting over the flooding situation or whatever it is and their naievete when it comes to making a claim on their home policy and when you ask if the insurance company will pay you will be effusively assured that they will when probably they know they will not and will run their game after submitting their bill and when the insurance company refuses to pay the whole bill will start threatening you with a civil suit, sicking a collection agency on you or even a mechanic's lien on your property for the balance which happened to me. I believe Stephens was probably paid a finder's fee for referring this unethical comapny and will never use them for that reason because it shows a total lack of concern for protecting their customers from not being victimized by them and basically bad judgment on their part! They can claim ignorance on their part as to their MO, but that is still no excuse. They should be knowledgeable about that at the outset before even mentioning them at all!

My family and I live in a rental house. We had a major sewage/toilet drainage problem. After contacting the management company they sent out Stephens Plumbing company. To make a long story short, Jose', Oscar and Luis worked on a giant problem. They were the best, most professional, attentive and trust worthy workers I have come across in a long time. It wasn't always easy dealing with the office, but when I expressed to Jose', I would need updates, he made sure I had his cell number and would never miss my call for anything. These guys were work horses! Offer them a glass of water or anything to drink and they declined and kept going. Stephens Plumbing is one lucky company to have them. I hope their work ethic NEVER goes un-noticed and they are appreciated as much as my family did! Huge props to Jose', Oscar and Luis!Thank you for a great job! Stephens Plumbing..:. It would have been a 4 star review, if not for the length of time we had to wait for the appointment. Scheduled between 1 and 3, the plumber was running behind schedule and wasn't able to arrive until 6 due to emergency appointments. We called the office while waiting, and they could have been more helpful keeping us up to date on the estimated arrival time. But once he started the service was fine. Had to have a garbage disposal installed. Plumbing technician was very courteous and friendly. He installed the garbage disposal, but wasn't satisfied with the way the plumbing and electrical lines on this particular disposal were designed...they were pressing against one another. It didn't sit well in his mind, so he offered to go out and buy a plumbing part that would fix the problem, then came back a few days later to complete the job to his satisfaction. I'd recommend Stephens for their quality work and thoroughness.

We have used Stephen's Plumbing several times now. I find them to be responsive and professional. They generally stick to their time frame, or call if they are running behind.
