The management will try to rip you off. First they sad $3000 then with discounts $2750. This was to rooter one line 200 feet from an outdoor shower to the street.
I turned them down so they agreed to my price, of $1,200.
Their worker Timothy Steele was great, did more than he had to. A friendly smart man. However his bosses are not so great.

Like many others here (Mark, Gregory, etc) I can stand with them when I say do NOT bother to call Roto-Rooter for your plumbing needs. Our stories are very similar - my shower drain was clogged and I needed someone to come and snake the drain. Previously we have gone with Mike Diamond, and had wonderful (and realistically priced!) service from them - however this time they were not available to come out for several days & to live without a shower for three days was just unrealistic for our family. My husband told me to call Roto-Rooter and Roto-Rooter said they would be available that day  --- within the next four hours, however they would not give a quote over the phone. The customer service agent on the line told me that a plumber would come out, take a look at the issue, and then provide me with an on the spot quote which I could either accept or deny.

The plumber was there within 2-ish hours of my phone call. He was a nice man, and very respectful. However, like many of the other comments here his quote came in at over $400. If I recall correctly, it was closer to $500!  I promptly told him thank you, and that I would walk him out. He said he could cut me a deal and lower it to $400, which I said was still too much. We haggled for several minutes and eventually he said $300. I told him my top line was $250. Honestly, I didn't even like to pay that much, but I needed to have my shower fixed so that I could bathe my child.

He agreed upon $250, and within about 20 minutes my shower was fixed. Again, the plumber was not the problem, he was nice. But their shady business practices---yeah, I just can't get behind that at all.

Zero stars, do not recommend.

Do NOT - Repeat Do NOT - use these clowns for any plumbing repairs.

I called on a weekday - non holiday - during normal hours and asked to have someone come out and snake my mainline.  First clue they are not reputable, is that they would not give a price range over the phone.

3 hours later some dufus arrives in a 4 door beat up Chrysler 200 and wants to inspect the water damage and hands me a marketing brochure for water damage clean up - no snake, no plumbing tools - just brochures!!

After I send him away the technician magically appears 1 minute later and proceeds to tell me that a simple main snake clean out is $440 - yeah $440 for 10mins work to snake the main.

What a joke, do not use Roto Rotor - they are 100% a scam - I called MIKE DIAMOND and they quoted me over the phone $99 - and guess what, that's what it cost and they did a great job and cleaned up after the job.

These guys charged $400 for drain camera
no estimate was given I asked if they saw anything that needed to be repaired and he told me he wasn't sure but maybe $7000 to repair sewer pipe.  Communication skills were poor.  No further details.  I called the office and they were not concerned.  I never heard  from them following that day.  So I called another company Nexgen, the guy from Nexgen  ran the camera and advised me of the issue.  They Immediately provided a written estimate for two different options.
Nexgen was very professional and honest.  During this experience I related to several other plumbing companies what Roto Rooter had done they ALL said ROTO ROOTER was a rip off company.  NEVER. Again very unprofessional and dishonest.  Avoid this company.

RUN THE OTHER WAY!!!!  I would give zero stars if allowed!!
They will literally steal your money and do the worst crappy job!!

They ruined my fixtures and all they said was OOPS! They were working in the bathroom and started to knock out the tiles in my kitchen!!! I had to run over and tell them to stop!!! They left a huge puddle under my sink! They did a VERY EXPENSIVE repiping job and I am STILL having BROWN WATER!

If you get JEFF as your technician, RUN!!!
He literally ruined so many things in my house and doesn't take the blame.

I was quoted for copper pipes and they did PEX because it was easier for them!  I said that Pex should be a cheaper price for me. Jeff flat out said NO!

They left a huge hole in my wall outside and NEVER TOLD ME!!!

I tried calling customer service and still 3 weeks later, I have YET to hear back from any manager!

This company does awful service and just robs you!

THEY WILL TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A WOMAN!!!

No one cares about you at this company!!

Crooks! Crooks! Crooks!!

Really terrible experience. My water heater pilot went out and it wouldn't light back up. Called roto rooter to come out the following day. They showed up 2 hours late, then the older gentleman is completely negative. Oh it's a rheem, these are the worst, probably won't be able to do anything for you. Looks at it for 2 min, tries to light it the same way I did, gives up. Then he tries to upsell me to a new water heater for $5,000. Other plumbers and companies I've received quotes from are in the low to mid 2 thousand. Then on the way back to his truck, tries to blame me: you should've mentioned it was a rheem, we would've never come out. I will never use this company and will for sure tell all my neighbors not to use them as well. Try to learn manners and to work with people that are clearly having issues in a more productive way.

steer clear- the plumber came to unclog a toilet and said he had to remove the fixture from the wall for 680 dollars. I insisted he simply snake out the pipe which he ultimately did after he disagreed with me. He charged 250.00 for the five minutes of work. Since it was a holiday weekend I paid to get him out of the house. roto-rooter is a scam.

i made the appointment explaining the situation to the representative.  when the plumber got here he asked what the issue was.  I explained it and he said the building water needs to be shut off.  i had mentioned this to the rep who didn't pass on the information.  when the plumber walked in he looked at the issue as said, 4 hours.  i was taken aback but then within a minute he had an invoice ready and said it would be 480.00 per hour plus tax,  i truly believe he had that invoice ready before he walked in the door.  he gave me the total and i said nope , sorry to waste your time.  he left.  thing is i dated a plumber for many years and helped them on some jobs.  i know how long things take. replacing a valve is not a 4 hour job.   ask questions and read the fine print.  i've never heard of that hourly rate,  thats crazy.  its too bad because i've used this company in the past and had great results but this time is a huge disappointment.  buyer beware

They responded quickly and locked us in based on that. But then they continued to tell us 30 more minutes over and over and then they showed up and charged $410 to simply clear a clogged drain which is 3x what it should be but by the time they actually showed we we were stuck with them because we needed someone quickly. We called the mainline to ask about pricing and they couldn't even tell us a price for a simple drain snake. Because they want to make you wait and then charge you an exorbitant price. Will NEVER use again. Complete scam.

We had a clogged sink drain. It was pretty bad. The technician snaked it very aggressively. Finally solved it after three hours. That cost $300.

After he left we discovered a broken, leaking pipe where he snaked it.

They came back two days later to fix it the pipe. Two guys, three hours, IT COST $1600. Their labor cost is over $500 AN HOUR for two guys!

They did good work, but prices like these are highway robbery. Never again will I go to Roto Rooter.

Called them because I have a leak. They came out and told me it was clog. They charged me for a clog. I realized it's still leaking. They sent another plumber out who told me the issue was completely different. I've been calling them everyday for the last 3 days. They don't want to give me a refund. They're A SCAM. $500 to fix a clog that wasn't even the issue. I was told I'd get a call back for the last 2 days. They didn't call me back, until I kept calling for 3 days. NEVER AGAIN. PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THEM.

They showed up quick; but once they quoted me $430 to snake one damn sink with hair in it. I promptly kicked them out. I guess he saw two women and assumed we would pay anything. The very next plumber quoted me $99-120! They will be here tomorrow.

Update: I'm so happy I went with the other Rooter company. They did an amazing job, videoed the work being done and showed me the gross hair pictures. You have options. Never ever ever settle for these guys. Check out my last review for a better plumber!

When I called, I was told twice that the call was being recorded for quality control. Hey RR, call me and let's listen to my call together and then tell me if you're going to disciple the lady in Arizona who took my call to set up service in CA.

Oh. Btw. I was told it was $405. For a 5 minute job to snake a drain. The technician said he drove 90 min and he wasn't getting paid for drive time. I agreed to have it done for $200 - still overpriced. But don't make your bad job my problem. That's directed to you both.

Had a shower drain clog.  Roto-Rooter came, looked at the drain for 2 minutes, and then said it was going to be $450 to clear the clog.
I called Adeedo Plumbers who came out the next day. They fixed the clog within 3 minutes and only charged me $69.
Will never call Roto-Rooter again.

I wholeheartedly agree with other reviews. They are extremely over-priced even with a discount (originally quoted $405 for a simple job of unclogging the bathroom sink drain). The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars is because they were fast to send someone out at 8 pm in the evening. My technician was very nice too. To be fair, I had the option of declining their services, but I was in the middle of reconstruction and decided it wasn't worth the trouble to wait until the next morning.

The job itself took less than 10 minutes and my technician, Donald (Don), was very courteous and agreeable. I don't think I'll be using Roto-Rooter again due to their astronomical pricing, but I have no complaints about the service itself.

$250 to cut up some drywall and look at a pipe. Would've been 1 star for that alone, and they wanted to charge 500. Although our plumber Greg was a real champ. Two stars for Greg.

Called because I had a handy man make a repair to my toilet which turned out to still have the issue.  I called at 5 pm to schedule service for Monday and they said they could have someone out within 2 hours. Awesome, the tech Myles came out and listened to my issues and concerns, and then got straight to work. He was done in record time as the handy man took 2 hours for 1 toilet. Miles was done quicker and got two taken care of. Also tightened up a loose bolt on my faucet. Great customer service, great attitude, and stellar work.

Running operations in trade services, if my guys operate the way Myles does, I'd be more than happy to have techs like him.

Thanks Myles!

Great service, terrible prices. I needed a quote to unclog a bathroom sink. Rep would not give me a estimate over the phone. When the tech came he quoted $450 to unclog the sink, which is an absolutely ridiculous price. In the past I've never paid over $100 unless there was major complications. I said no thanks, the tech said maybe we could work a deal. Eventually he begrudgingly agreed to $200 (with a frown). He got his tools and unclogged the sink in literally 5 minutes, his skill was excellent. I asked him if we could unclog another sink and he said it would be an additional $200, I was hoping to negotiate but his attitude was so bad that I said forget it. I will never call Roto-Rooter again unless I have no other options available. The price was too high and the tech wasn't all that nice.

I had guests visiting and unfortunately ran into a clogged sewer line. Obviously needing immediate action, called a few places but Roto-Rooter responded the fastest, sent someone out right away and did a hydro jet blast. Affordable price and we were so grateful for the quick turnaround. Hope we don't need to but if another problem arises they'll be our first call.

After explaining I do an annual hydro-jet maintenance and had an issue I wanted to have them look at, we set up an appointment...

1. Monday - 8a - 10a.  No one shows and I don't hear from them.  I call and the say it was voided out with no explanation.  Re-explain the issue and reschedule for later in the week when I can arrange someone to be therel

2.  Second appt:  Friday 8a-10a.  No show.  I call and the dispatch Kathy actually laughs - yeah, other people were serviced this morning but no one is available for you right now... even though we knew this was a re-do.  I explain as a single, working mother, I'm having to PAY SOMEONE to be at my house to wait for them.  She apologies... asks what the issue is, I re-explain and then we rebook appointment for that afternoon.

3.  Third appt:  Friday, 3p-5p.  No show.  I receive a call at 5p.  What did you need done?  We don't have that available right now.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.

Called for emergency service and they never showed up.   Called to follow up and was placed on hold for 30 minutes just to find out they lost my request.  Then 6 hours later they call me to tell me my service would arriving within an hour.   By that time my problem was resolved by calling a family owned plumbing service.   The big companies do not care.

Spent $700 to fix a venting issue with our tank water heater, only to find out that the new vent is not up to code and did not solve the problem. When the plumber came back after I called regarding the issue, he didn't even come into the house to look at what the issue was, and told us to call the main office for a refund. I called and was told I would receive a response back - it's been a week and still nothing. All around poor customer service.

This is to get the word out to people who may encounter an accident with a Roto Rooter work truck. Be aware that it will take FOREVER to hear back from their insurance (I am still waiting), and they don't even provide the correct information on their insurance cards so they're practically impossible to contact.
I got rear ended last month and still have made no progress in my claim, their company has shown me how irresponsible they are and that I will never be using their services. My cracked bumper is still waiting to be fixed........

DO NOT USE THEM.   I called and asked them to snake out my sewer line two weeks ago.  they charged me $345 its only been two weeks it clogged again.  I asked them to come out they want to charge me another $345.  The last time they came, the entire time the guy told me I need to core out my sewer, and I told him I dont have the money to do that and all the sudden the sewer started to clear up magically. Very not honest and I would neve use them again.  I found another plumber that did the work for $120 and warranty for 30 days.  I will complain to BBB and State contractor board.

We had RR out to our home a few times for drain fixes and never had any issues with our experiences. In 2014 they replaced the drain in our kitchen from the sink to the main drain of the house and that seemed to fix the recurring kitchen drainage issues we had been having. Service had always been excellent and work was done well.

Starting a few months after the drain replacement we began to notice a faint smell in the kitchen. We didn't think much of it at first simply because we couldn't fathom where it could have possibly been coming from. After some time the smell became an issue as did the increasing number of insects that were invading the kitchen, seemingly attracted by the smell.

We had a flooring company come out for a flooring estimate and he informed us of a large pool of water underneath the house. We decided to contact another plumber and he specified that the kitchen drain that had been recently replaced was completely detached from the line and thus everything that was coming from the kitchen was emptying underneath the house and had been for months. It was attracting all manner of insects and smelled fairly awful. He didn't speak very highly of RR and showed the poor quality of work that went into the drain replacement work they did. He provided pictures of it as well.

He advised getting a cleanup crew out to clean up the mess which we did to tune of $3000 as well as contacting RR about coming out to fix it. I was hesitate about having RR out to fix it unless a manager was here to check the work. I contacted RR and spoke with a manager and he apologized and wanted to come out that Saturday morning to look at the damage. Unfortunately he never showed up and we went with another plumber for the work. All in all we originally paid RR $1000 to replace the drain plus a cleanup crew $3000 to clean up the drainage mess underneath the house and another plumber $750 to better repair the drain.

Like I said, up to this issue we never had problems with RR and I'm really disappointed they didn't step up to handle a RR caused issue that caused us serious financial distress.

If there was room for more stars I would give them.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!  On the morning of Oct. 1 at 1 a.m. in the morning, one of the tenants in our 10 unit condo complex reported a sewage flood in the bathroom of the lower level of their three story condo. As HOA president and since my mate is a licensed contractor, we are ALWAYS the first that get called in case of an emergency. Upon getting up, I realized that both of my downstairs bathrooms were flooded as well, with the water now entering the hallway and every nook and cranny of storage space under the stairs. YIKES!!!!!!  Not pretty at any time, let alone at 1 a.m. in the morning.

After turning off the water to complex and abating the flow, and cleaning the best I could, I got on the phone to call 24/7 plumbers, who obviously don't know what that means. I called OVER TWENTY DIFFERENT COMPANIES. Finally, close to 3 a.m. I got ROTO-ROOTER, ON HYDE IN INGLEWOOD on the phone and even though they said someone could probably not get there for another hour to hour and a half, Jose Estrade, who works for them, got here at 3:30 a.m. - Two hours later my partner finally came back upstairs, saying that everything was O.K for now: they cleared the main from tree roots, but that we would need a diagnostic consisting of a power jet and camera work.  We understood what that meant and we were advised  how much it would cost and made an appointment for the next day to check it out, making sure we got Jose Estrade back, which we did.

Once again the next day they appeared right on time and after opening the main and entering it with hoses and camera, Jose and his partner Evereth Tobar revealed two breaches in the main line to the city sewer (tree roots had broken two areas in the line) that will have to be fixed - they showed to me on the camera and provided me a flash drive with the footage.  NOW THIS IS WHAT I CONSIDER GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICES.

Thank you very much for your stellar service, at a time of need.  Your company name has been put at the top of the providers list and given to each of the tenants for when they may personally need a plumber for their individual units.

Jose and Evereth, you are two great young men and the company is lucky to have you and I wish you both  luck in your future endeavors - you'll go far if you keep that great attitude you both have. Thank you again.

By the way, in case anyone is interested the invoice for the 3:30 a.m. call and the two hours of work, came to $450.  which I consider well earned for that time in the morning and the fact it was an emergency call. You can always get it done for less, I suppose, if you are willing to wait and rob Peter to pay Paul in the long run. Oh yes, and I want to add - in today's world, you can't please all of the people all of the time.

I meant to do this review months ago, but misplaced the paperwork and  now I'm seeing that this location has closed.   However, I wanted to acknowledge Camilo.  I was having plumbing issues and he came to assess my situation.  Though I could not afford the work he recommended, he was very professional, polite and thorough in his explanation.  He even took the time to do a free home evaluation, which provided me with a little peace of mind in the midst of my plumbing chaos.

Sorry to hear the location has since closed, but grateful for the assistance Camilo provided that day (1/4/18).

NO SHOW!!!

I made an appointment for 12 noon. It is now 8 pm and the plumber has not shown up. I have pissed away an entire day and made four phone calls to headquarters, waiting for a plumber who never arrived.

Their plumbers are great guys who do good work, IF they show up. Unfortunately, if a plumber doesn't show up to do the work it doesn't matter how good he is.

You might look around for another plumber who can be depended on to show up.

Although my plumbing job should not have cost anywhere near 250, I understood there was a minimum charge up front, so my review isn't taking that into account.

Brian came and helped me out. Very professional and knowledgeable, fixed my issue in less than ten minutes. Nice guy too.

As long as you know there's a minimum labor charge, I'd recommend for sure, especially if Brian is the plumber.

We had a water line installed from our water meter to our home by Roto-Rooter in 2013 with a 5 year warranty, the job cost us over $3000. Just this week we found that the line connected to the meter had broken and I called Roto-Rooter to find out if it was still under warranty. The technician from Roto-Rooter came way past the scheduled window and told us that we had 6 months left on our warranty and that someone will be out later that day to repair the busted water line. The plumber showed up at 7 PM that evening and told me he didn't have the part on his truck. I was confused as asked him if the other technician told him what was wrong? He told me that no one talks to anyone at Roto-Rooter. He assured me that the job was covered by the warranty and said he will be back at 11:00 AM the next morning to fix the leak.

The next morning I got a call from the technician named Owen telling me that the job wasn't under warranty and that we would need to pay him $1200 to fix the leak. I was livid! I asked him, How can you tell me one day the repair is still under warranty and then call me the next day and say it's not? He gave me the phone number to the management office and I called them only to have the office manager tell me the managers were in meetings. I told the office manager what was going on and she assured me that she would have a manager call me back asap. I only got a call back from the office manager to tell me that she looked up my account and said the job we had back in 2013 only had a 6 month warranty.

I argued with her, telling her we were told it was a 5 year warranty which was their biggest selling point to justify us paying so much for the job. She then said, Well that still doesn't matter. The 5 year warranty expired 6 months ago. Needless to say I never received a call from a manager and we ended up calling another plumber who showed up in 30 minutes and fixed the line for $350. Roto-Rooter is a big scam and I'm warning all consumers to stay away!

Ban came to our house to check out an issue and he was super honest about telling us what needed to be done and not charging us extra for a bigger issue that another company had told us we had. I wish all plumbers were this honest. Thanks Ban!

Simple easily accessible clean out on the exterior of a building and technician says will charge $300 to snake it.  Highway robbery!  I had a $60 coupon from them bringing the price down to still a healthy rip-off level.  While gas is cheap and no traffic this company will be sure to take in every dollar they can and pass no savings to the customer.

The worst service ever.I called this company in the evening and they promised that the plumber will be at my business at 7:30 am , it was very important for me because I open my business at 9:30.
I woke up at 6:30 to be there one time.
At 7:35am they call me and tell me that the plumber will be there around 8:20 to 8:40am,
They didn't really care.
I cancelled the service.
Do not call them or get any service from this company.

I recently had a home inspection which indicated a possible drain line  leak in my crawl space.  After checking many Yelp sources and reviews, I decided to try Roto Rooter because of their expertise in the plumbing field.  Ben came out within 2 hours of my call.  I specifically asked for a very experienced technician because I knew it would be difficult to pinpoint.  Well Ben has over 20 years!

Ben was able to assess the sitiation and determine my problem was not caused by the plumbing.  And he explained why in terms I could understand.  I was grateful and relieved for his knowledge, honesty and integrity.  I will definitely call Roto Rooter and Ben next time I have a plumbing issue.  Given that my house is over 50 years old, it is good to know there are plumbers like Ben out there.

This company totally ripped us off. I have a guy who regularly roto roots my place every six months for $250. I forgot to have him do it before I left on vacation and when there was a problem my house/pet sitter called him and since he was out of town she called this Roto-Rooter company. They tried to sell her some Jetter service and she said no just do the regular service. They got the thing caught, had to dig up on the side yard and break the pipe and then repair it. They charged her $450 for the rooter and then another $600 for the jetter and were here for six hours. Totally incompetent and overpriced. Since I have this done by my regular plumber every six months for $250 and have done so for years I know this was way out of bounds.

I am amending this as I think the company did handle my complaint in the proper manner. I called the main office and talked to a supervisor who said nothing could be done as the person had agreed to the service. But she did say she would turn it over to the branch manager. Subsequently I got a call from Kevin, not not sure if he was the branch manager, think more likely the manager for this particular location. He was familiar with the situation, had planned  to come out during the process and then when he thought it was resolved, did not. I assume th00at he realized from what I told him, that we were oversold. He agreed to credit the $600 for the jetter portion. The fact that they charge more for the basic roto rooter? He claimed they used better equipment. Maybe, I have not a clue. But that is there charge and I am ok with that.

We had a particularly difficult issue that five other plumbers were unable to resolve (or figure out for the most part). Maurice at Roto-Rooter came over and immediately knew what the issue was - from there the Roto-Rooter team came in and had the issue resolved in a day.  Everyone was professional, friendly and hard working. Maurice was absolutely great to work with - I can't recommend this team highly enough.

This past December I called for a technician to come out to take care of my main sewer line since it was backing up through the washing machine drain, and to clear a clog in a sink drain.  The technician came out, and didn't really investigate the problem.  He had me turn on a few sinks and flush the toilets.  They all drained, so he said I had no problem.  I tried to get him to look at how the washing machine drain backed up, but he dismissed that suggestion, and went to work on the sink drain.  I paid $250.00 for half an hour of work!  The technician gave me the impression that he really didn't want to do the work, and because I am a middle-aged woman I couldn't possibly know anything about plumbing. Well, my backup problem didn't go away; it only got worse.  Last week I contacted another plumbing service, and it turns out that my main sewer line was not only broken in at least 4 places, the roots that grew in the broken places were almost entirely blocking the pipe.  In addition, the outflow pipes underneath the house were disintegrating and leaking, and needed to be replaced.  This was all something the Roto-Rooter technician would have pointed out to me if he had taken the time to do a simple inspection.
These issues were not hard to find.  So this other company got my very expensive job.  Perhaps I owe Roto-Rooter a sincere thank you for failing to help me.  I wound up finding a plumbing service with excellent customer service that has my full trust.  I didn't feel comfortable calling Roto-Rooter in the first place because of all the negative things I had heard, but I didn't have any other referrals to turn to.  Lesson learned the hard way.  Sorry, but I will give my business to a company that actually wants it and values it.

Great service. I called after normal business hours and had someone at my house within an hour to fix my clogged toilet. Since we only have one bathroom in the house it was imperative that we get it fixed. They fixed a hard to reach clog more than 50ft out for only $250 after hours. I could not have asked for better service.

These guys are crooks.

$279 for a clogged drain. If you must use them, don't waste your time unless you get an estimate in advance.

This company waits until they see who they're dealing with and them makes up a price. I called and was told someone would be over in 2-3 hours. 8 hours later I couldn't be there because I had prior commitments. I tried to reschedule for the next day, but was told Easter Sunday would have a holiday surcharge. At that point in the day, every other plumber was booked. So I let a neighbor let the plumber in. Boom, I get a note that they're done with no one asking if the quote would be OK. I come home to a $279 bill filled with B.S. charges. Overtime? $50. For what? No one mentioned this when I made the appointment at 2pm. $229 for what, is this an hour? It doesn't say, its just a totally fictitious high price charge on a piece of paper because the neighbor was in charge. A 15 to 25 ft deep clog does not take a Harvard lawyers hourly wage to clear. Never mind the bill ignored the worthless $20/coupon I printed off from the website and I mentioned it on the phone when I placed the call.

Total scam company. The plumber may be good, but it doesn't matter because the business model of this company is about ripping people off opportunistically. This is not a plumbing company even if it has a plumber.

I called roto rooter 310-954-0301 to clear a main line drain.  I had it fully exposed for easy access.  The tech came out wanted 250 to clear it but no guarantee, then said we need to Hydro Jet for an additional 600 plus camera total $975 with discount is $875. I agreed but I needed to have lunch, so I asked him if Hydro jet came to call me. But he never called, and when I came back asked me for $875. I had no choice but to pay although I am almost certain I was scammed. Buyer beware!

Marco the magnificent and Roto-Rooter saved me and provided prompt, exceptional service.

I essentially self destructed my toilet by accidentally flushing down a sizable piece of plastic that jammed and clogged the bowl and it's innards.   Well played, young man.

Fortunately, I was able to make a same day appointment with Roto (on a Saturday) and my plumbing technician Marco arrived within three hours of my initial call.   The dispatch also updated me no less than two times to let me know when to expect arrival.

Marco quickly diagnosed the situation and gave me the breakdown of the fate of my toilet and what it would cost me.   He was also great about articulating what could make it more expensive and in the end we avoided the worst case scenario (thanks to Marco's experience and obvious efforts).

Happy to now have my go-to plumber in Marco & Roto-Rooter.

My 3-bedroom house in Torrance CA has a couple of bathroom sinks that drain slowly, so I decided to have Roto-Rooter clean out the whole house, thinking it would be a few years before needing drains cleared again. The guys came out on Thursday 12/7/17 and said the job would cost $658. I agreed to that price. They proceeded to break a bathtub drain fixture, and couldn't get the broken part out of the pipes. They wanted an additional $937 to fix it. I declined. They banged on pipes for a while, collected their $658 and left. I now have a broken fixture. Those bathroom sinks are still slow as molasses, and I will have to hire someone else to clear them. I give Roto-Rooter a star for only breaking one fixture and not two.

Before selling my house, my agent said to get the lines checked.  Roto-Rooter (RR) came, did an inspection, and charged me $20,000 to fix problems.  I told them I was selling the house and it needed to pass buyers inspections.
The buyer's inspector said the job was not done properly, finding 2 problems.  RR agreed they did the first part incorrectly.  They said I should have known the second issue, the slope of the pipes, would be a problem.
They agreed to do the whole job again, first for $13,000 and then for free but the buyer did not trust them, so I had to credit the buyer $18,000 so they could fix the problem themselves.
Roto-Rooter admitted they did at least part of the job wrong.

I threatened to sue and we were able to settle the matter.

The other thing that got me mad was after the buyer's first inspector said there was a problem RR came out, inspected again, and denied there was a problem.  Only after the buyers hired a second inspector would Roto Rooter admit they goofed.

I unlike the previous reviews had a great experience with our tech. I had a huge problem with my main line being clogged on a property I own in Los Angeles. They came out the same day that we called them and did the exploratory camera so show us what the problem was. I had previous used a non-licensed plummer which ended up being a huge mistake of which I was paying for it now. Anyway Roto-Rooter did a quick efficient job and keep us updated through the entire process and were done in 3 days. I received their written guarantee on the work that they did and have had follow up calls from them to make sure all is working properly.
I would highly recommend them for any project you need, they were kind courteous and efficient

Only giving roto rooter a one star because we can't give zero. Forget about scheduling. I called at 10 am and explained the problem and was offered a 1 pm appt. I told them I could not possibly leave work and be home before 2:30. Three times I was called by the dispatcher and told I was next up! It is now 6:30 pm and have you seen anyone? I sure as hell haven't.  The dispatcher was to call me back in 30 minutes: I called back in 45. Get the picture? I just received a call at 6 33 that the truck is on the way and will be here in 30 minutes. I am not holding my breath.

TOTAL RIP-OFF, DO NOT CALL THEM IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF!  I would give them a ZERO if I could!  So I called them to unclog the sewer drain and the technician came to find that there were no clean outs for the house.  He said that it will cost $450 to use a camera in the vent on top of the roof to JUST FIND the sewer line and to avoid any gas or water lines.  Then he could locate the sewer line and put in a clean out and then unclog the sewer line.  I asked him to give me a ballpark estimate and he can't give me one nor can he give me a timeline on how long it would take.  I then asked him if he could try to unclog the drain and he said again that he cannot do anything without a clean out.  So at first I told him to go ahead to use the camera, when I thought I'd call a contractor I know and he told me to stop him immediately and refuse his services, as he was RIPPING ME OFF!  Once I told the technician that I didn't  want his services any more, he offered me $335 to unclog the drain.  What, now he can unclog it?  By this point I didn't want him to touch anything to the house and I told him again that I didn't need his services.

He came back and charged me $97.50 to crawl under my house  - all he did was stick his head into the crawl space looking for the clean out.  And this was before he gave me the estimate.  SO FREE ESTIMATE MY ASS!

Awful customer service. I made an appointment for 4:30-6:30pm to look at a clogged sink, and no one came. When I called at 6:30, the lady on the phone said there was a technician in the area but he was finishing at another location and he would come by after. I called again at 8pm, and she said that she called the tenant at the condo, but no one answered. The tenant was by her phone the entire time and never got a call. There was no voice mail either. Literally, this business just lies to their customers. They got caught without available technicians and they decided the best thing to do was lie. Don't use roto rooter.

This review is for Roto-Rooter and for Carlos, the plumber who came out and rescued us.  Hit Read more and skip to the bottom for the exceedingly short summary if you're not crazy about reading.

A couple days ago, both showers and toilets in our house, which was completely remodeled a couple years ago, began backing up.  With my parents visiting this week from out-of-state and a three-week-old infant, this couldn't have happened at a much worse time.  We had a neighborhood guy come in to snake the lateral sewer line for less than $100, but despite running the snake to the main sewer line on the street, this guy couldn't clear the line.  He referred us to someone else who owned a camera to inspect the lateral sewer line, which would've happened a couple days later.  Mom and dad went to a hotel and we stayed with some friends.

Next day, I called a lot of plumbers and got what I felt like were some very competitive options, but no one could come real quickly.  In the interest of getting us all back in the house, I begrudgingly called Roto-Rooter and as I expected, they were able to get someone in within a couple hours.  I received no less than four updates during the two or three hours between my call and Carlos' arrival to provide me updates, and their ETA ended up being spot-on.

Once Carlos got there, everything went exactly as it was explained to me on the phone.  I was provided a free estimate, which I felt was reasonable, but was more than estimates provided to me by competitors (to the one-star review stating that he was ripped-off because he didn't get a free estimate ... you can't expect that they'll magically know what's causing your drain issues without they doing something diagnostic like dropping a camera in the line, which will cost you something).  Carlos again snaked the line, but unlike the guy who came the day before, he snaked it twice using two different spinning blades.  Following that, he dropped a camera in the line and located a soft blockage.

Let's talk about Carlos for a moment: this guy was THE professional.  He'd mentioned that he'd been doing this for 12 years, and that experience showed in his work.  Beyond that, however, we were highly impressed with how he handled himself.  He chose his words carefully and didn't speculate unnecessarily - important when you and your family are displaced from your home because you don't have functioning sewer.  Costs were explained before he did anything, and he was patient - I know next to nothing about what happens after I flush my toilet, and he did a nice job of explaining what could've been going on without being an alarmist.  Another reviewer described him as smart, professional, and honest - that's absolutely accurate.

Carlos found a soft blockage something like 60 feet from the clean out.  He offered to snake it one more time with a larger blade and I was ready to throw in the towel, but he wanted to give it another shot.  So I grabbed a beer to soften the blow of my misfortune and he's snaking the line and were talking and all of the sudden, to everyone's great surprise, the line clears with this incredible sucking sound.  I think he was as excited as we were.  He dropped the camera back in and found roots (which he'd cut through), cracked pipes that have pry been there since the house was built 100 years ago.  You couldn't see any of that while the line was filled with water and debris.  The cause of the blockage is bad news, but Carlos GOT IT DONE.  Toilets flush, showers drain, and we're back in the house with a precise understanding of what's happening with our sewer line and the knowledge we need to move forward.

So let me sum this up, based on my experiences these past couple days: Roto-Rooter has top-notch equipment, and based upon my experience with Carlos, they have people who know what they're doing and can handle themselves professionally.  I'm sure that I paid more than I would have with a competitor.  But $100 with a competitor the day before got me no closer to resolution, and now that this is resolved, I know that the $150 I would've dropped on the next competitor wouldn't have gotten me any closer either.  You MIGHT pay a little more for Roto-Rooter, but they were the guys who got the job done right and QUICKLY.  I would've been happy paid much more for this result, and for Carlos.  Roto-Rooter, if you guys monitor your Yelp reviews, please read this - consider giving this guy a raise.  He's absolutely earning it.

I had a drain pipe clogged with roots. At first they tried to snake it but soon realized that I had a big problem, and were able to make a detailed assessment of what had to be done. It cost a lot of money. But we negotiated and were able to reach a solution that worked for everyone. They got the job done quickly, professionally, and with warranty. I felt very satisfied.

Horrible liars and thieves.  They took advantage of the fact that our son had to handle the interaction with the plumber at the house, as my husband and I were at work.  We were charged $240 for a $99 clog in our bathroom sink - he did not even need to clear the main drain, it was localized to just the sink and elbow.  We'd used them for our business and home in the past and chose to use them again thinking that they would be competitively priced against their local competition, who advertises all over the radio that they will clear ANY clog for $99.  Unresponsive to our call to complain. A complete rip off, no integrity. I'll be tweeting next and spreading the word as rapidly and loudly as possible.

Where do I start??! First off the dispatcher is very rude! I called several times to request a copy of my invoice.  I was transferred almost 5 times only to get transferred back to the dispatcher who stated it was not her job after that I gave up and have yet to pay my bill. I've been a loyal client for years and Never had problems until now. I guess there is new people but still does not give them the right to be rude. I also tried reaching someone in the corporate office and never get a call back. Horrible Horrible. This company lost a good Client due to their office being unprofessional. We had a mishap with sweet potato peelings in our garbage disposal on Thanksgiving day. Thankfully, we weren't hosting anybody, but we knew that it would be challenging to hire a plumber over the busy holiday weekend. I called Roto-Rooter on Saturday morning, and Carlos came over that evening. Not only did he provide excellent service at a reasonable price, but he was very nice and a had a lot of interesting stories to tell! He also honored a $20 coupon that I printed from the website. We are very grateful to be able to wash our dishes again, and learned our lesson about sweet potato peelings. I would call Roto-Rooter again if we have any more problems with our kitchen sink.

If I could give a lucky 7 stars to Roto-Rooter I would, but I have only 5 to give and these guy's deserve each and every one. I had a small problem with my water heater that turned into a HUGE one once the city of LA got involved, and we don't want to mess with them so I called the pro's at roto rooter, I got a pretty decent quote to bring my water heater up to code, these guys started working on the spot and I had my water heater back up and running on day 1. Here's where it gets crazy, I have a separate inspection and the LADBS comes down hard for God know's what reason. Thankfully, Carlos is sent over to assess the damage and the city of LA's complaints, the 100% guarantee is honored and the small, clearly unnecessary, ridiculous requests from the city of LA where done at no extra charge. Carlos was able to figure out what we needed to do to get the city off our backs without costing us a single dime, that is truly worth it's weight in gold or (copper). Thank you all at Roto-rooter and a special thanks to the tech Carlos who got it done in the most professional way imaginable. I echo what David C says. These guys are crooks and they don't even try to do a good job at it.  We had them come over to our home to unclog the drain and they did a very mediocre job at it.  They guaranteed us a warranty and later changed it and said it was void due to unforeseen circumstances - roots in the drains. The first time they unclogged it and then less than a week later it was clogged again.  I called to complain that I wasn't even close to 50% satisfied and they didn't care even though they market that they guarantee 100% satisfaction.  We've had other company's come and do a way better job at about the same price.  We just tried this place out because we got something in the mail.

Total disaster, start to finish. Incompetence and deception that could cost us a brand new washing machine - on top of the $250 installation fee we paid for someone to break our machine. This Roto-Rooter branch clearly has the worst reviews and I wish I'd know that before I called the main number. (I have had excellent Roto Rooter service before. This was horrible.)

We made the appt online, got an email confirmation, as well as a phone call confirmation for a 4-6pm appt. At 6pm, we called back the confirmation # - and they had no record of appt. We called the original number, they did have the appt on the books, and were told the plumber would be late. He showed up at 8pm.  Even though we'd said the appt was to set up washer and dryer, he needed parts and said he'd come back the next day at 10am. He was back at 11am, and it was an epic 3 hours of installation though there was nothing out of the ordinary. At one point he left for parts again.  Then finally, it was all over and he said he'd changed a gas valve and we needed to let the room air out for an hour before used the machine. We paid the $250 bill and he left.

We gave it an extra hour just in case. I loaded the washer, went to turn it on - and the knob came off in my hand. It was broken. Worse - it was covered in white glue! He'd broken the knob and then tried to glue it back on! Mistakes are one thing - lies and cover-ups are another.

We realized all the clues after the fact:
He's a plumber who hooked up a washer - but never ran it to see if it was working properly (because he couldn't turn it on with a broken knob.)
He went out for parts again (my guess is it was glue.)
He said to let the room air out (that was to let the glue dry, which it didn't.)
We called in an appliance repair company. As a result of the tech's breaking the machine, have to replace the entire panel - $400 for the part, and then $300 for the labor. This is in addition to paying Roto Rooter $250 to hook up a machine that was broken by the tech.
Supposedly a supervisor is coming to see us tomorrow and see the machine. He said they'd pay for repair and we can only hope Roto Rooter will follow through. If they do - I'll remove my 1 star review.

Carlos rocks!!! He is the epitome of a true professional. Carlos will take the time to explain to you the issues your having and reassure you that he can fix it! And fix it right the first time.

Experienced a clogged toilet and called the 800 Roto-Rooter number.   A technician responded and said that my main line was clogged.  He charged $330 to root out the mainline and gave me a 90-day warranty.  Five days later the toilet was clogged again.  Called them again to fix the problem.  A different man came and said that it would be another $120 to unplug the toilet since I had only had the main line cleaned out before, and this was a clogged toilet.  I pointed out that it was the same problem and that I had not asked specifically that the main line be cleaned out but had asked to have the toilet working.  The technician called his supervisor who also was not helpful.  I did not have the work done.  I'd rather give my money to someone else!  So much for their expertise at diagnosing problems and so much for their 90-day warranty.  Be warned!

I am not sure how they hire their techs, but this company as a whole is NOT women friendly. I feel as a woman I would be better off getting someone that is posted at Homedepot. I have never seen such unprofessionism from a tech. potential clients should never be yeld at! If I was a man, I would have clocked him. But as a lady , I'm better than the trash the hire!

In this case I would have given no stars.
Roto Rooter is bad at what they do in execution as well as in their warranty promises.
I have a Restaurant in the Fairfax District for which I purchased a Chicago Faucet from Roto-Rooter. The Sprayer has never worked correctly. It leaks constantly and now the so called very sturdy handle is cracked and a small piece has broken off. I was told it was from excessive use. Excuse me? Isn't a handle  there to be held? This piece is only a couple month old!  Wil Iparraguirre, the Branch Manager has someone else calling me saying that they didn't up-charge enough in order to warranty the piece. Is this a joke? Am I being puncked? I bought American made, not some made in China crap that lasts 5 minutes. I paid $350 for this Faucet and Roto-Rooter tells me it's my problem.
Next call will be to the better business bureau. I hate dealing with dishonest businesses. I hope they'll get what they deserve.

I had a clogged drain on a Saturday night and they were the only plumbers that were answering and available. When Marco got here he put down a plastic sheet to keep my kitchen clean (unlike the last plumber) and was very quick getting the job done. I would highly recommend using these guys.

Rip off artists! Firstly their technician arrived two hours after the designated time and said he wasn't told about the time period. Then he said it would be 215. an hour (!) to unclog two storm drains in my patio. Thank goodness I refused to accept his estimate. Got another company who charged me half that for two hours work. It came out to around 60./ hr.

This Company saved me.  I had a pipe leak in my ceiling and approximately 1am we found it on a Friday/Saturday morning 6/28/14...I am a single parent and  was upset as I had called 911 Plumbing at 1am and they were sending someone over before 3am for an extra $350, which, I did not care as my house was in danger and the ceiling was bowing.
911 called a little before 3 to ask me if I still wanted them to come as they went on a commercial call and won't be coming to my house.  Panicked I got a hold of Roto- Rooter and they came out as soon as they could , while helping me on the phone with my situation. They were so nice and helpful and George Quino came out and replaced the pipe and even gave me the number to a ceiling restoration company. The did not charge me an extra fee either.
If it had not been for this company and their staff my house would be in bad shape today.  They were wonderful from the phone call to the serviceman.

Me and my roommate came home to our apartment unit to find that the tub had filled with waste from other people in our building. The toilet was full of water as well. After first calling Mike Diamond and then rescue rooter I called Roto Rooter and they sent Carlos within 40 minutes. Great guy. The situation was worse than expected so he called his buddy Hector. Together, this team of skilled individuals worked through the night and was able to have the main line clear by 4:30am. I would highly recommend these guys if you want great service.

Never call them again! Maybe they will do the job, but it is much more expensive than other companies. Moreover, they told us they would have come for a free estimation and at the phone they could not tell us any price. But as soon as the guy arrived, he already had a fixed cost for the job, without even entering the bathroom! Why they did not say it at the phone? We would have call someone else without loosing anymore time! 229.00$ for pushing a tube down the sink... if it was for me, and not for my picky landlord, I would have never accepted for such a price!

Kevin (Supervisor) came to my home twice for different issues.  Each time he was professional and made me feel comfortable that my issue would be resolved without concern.  He sets the example of what should be in any technician coming to your home.  I wasn't as thrilled with the coordinators on the phone.  I spoke to a few different people when I called in and prior to talking to a Supervisor there, they really didn't seem to be too on the ball.  I would say they seemed like they were trying, but clearly, need some coaching in listening skills.  Frustrating when you have a problem and they repeat it back wrong, over and over again.  I was also given some wrong information so I asked a few times for clarification and it wasn't until about a 4th time when the person said let me check and then, sure enough, I was right.  Nothing wrong with not knowing an answer, but say you don't know, and then check for the customer rather than give incorrect information; nothing good comes from that.

Dynamic  Duo Revealed.    It's Fernando and Carlos  who came to my house in Beverly Hills today.  They did what they said for the price they said with no upselling or games even though the job took twice as long  and was difficult.  Another person from the company arrived named Ben.   He only wanted to sell me on doing a clean out and digging up my yard before the two guys who were honest finished there job.  Nothing else was needed and thanks to two decent guys I'm writing this review.  Request these guys NOT Ben and you can trust  all will be done to fix your problems fairly.  Roto-rooter better appreciate them because if it was the other guy who came, this review would have been not good.

We've had a problem with roots in our main line since we moved here 17 years ago. It's been cleaned out a few times and it usually lasts four years or so before we have to do it again, so we figured the $265 Roto-Rooter charges would be worth it if it lasted a while. But they were here for all of thirty minutes before proceeding to show me on their sewer-cam all the roots still in the pipe. with excuses why they couldn't get them out without charging at least $900 more. Lame.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!!!!!  They invent charges, they don't write charges and invoices, and then they visit your home.  If they show up, call the police and get them off your property.  Then call a local plumber and have a normal conversation.  These guys are complete crooks.

I would love to keep this short and sweet however there is no end to what a great experience I had with Roto-Rooter. I called a few weeks back due to my main line being clogged and backing up from my toilet, I literally had a mess everywhere! it was not pretty at all as you can imagine. I called Roto-Rooter and the lady was a bit unfriendly and rude (didn't get her name) she was just not having a good day and you can tell. I was a little discouraged on my decision after talking to her, but about less than an hour later Brian showed up and he was just wonderful! He was just so nice and professional very attentive and confiding, I definitely did not feel like I was getting the run around he told me exactly what happened, how to fix it and how to prevent it in the future. I have to say the prices were a little more than expected, but one thing I know is I could not complain for the qualify of the service I received. Also from experience and word of mouth, plumbing isn't something you should take lightly and you can not just call anyone, sure you can call a local guy or a friend of a friend that is cheaper but the results will be too! that is why i decided to call a big named company like Roto Rooter. My problem was fixed, haven't had the problem since, and Brian even showed me little ways to prevent any issues from happening in the future. I have to say I am a very satisfied customer and will recommend Brian from Roto Rooter to everyone I know.

I called this place because the dental office where I work had a blocked suction line.  I told the guy who answered the phone that we needed to snake 150 feet.  He said they could do that and that they were commercial building plumbers.  The guy who shows up could only snake 40 feet. WTH?  Why tell me you can do it when you really can't.  Would never use them again.

I was on my way to catch an early morning flight when I stepped into the foyer and it was flooded. I called Roto Rooter at 6a and had a friendly voice answer the phone that had a technician, Hector Henriquez, to our home as soon as possible. He was able to locate the plumbing problem quickly and gave us a quote he stood by to the very end of the process as he dug and discovered new issues. The technology the company uses is similar to directional boring where he didnt have to dig up the street where the piping from our house connects to the city water, he was able to fix it by only digging a small whole just outside of our house. They even supply a DVD of the work they do since there is a camera recording underground that shows the problem, show them fixing it and then the final result for your future records, especially if you're a homeowner. Hector was professional, clean, on time, courteous and thorough. He wore booties on his shoes anytime he entered our home and the payment process was easy via credit card at the end. I was very impressed. My travel plans got turned upside down, but at least I have peace of mind that the issue was resolved with a 25 year warranty.
