Best Water Heater Repair in Washington DC
Our AC died. The system was 22 years old, so it was a total HVAC replacement. Called around and got a couple of quotes. We were really frustrated by other companies' price schemes. We knew this would be expensive and just wanted a straightforward, fair price and a replacement recommendation that we could trust. Reddick & Sons provided all of that. They are local and care about doing good business. Great service, super knowledgeable, fair pricing. Highly recommend.

Great service from the team at Plumb Professionals. I needed someone out fast to assess and fix a drainage issue with our washing machine. Michael came out early one morning and took care of us. He was professional, easy to work with, didn't try to oversell us on something we didn't need, and explained everything in depth. He also set us up with some quotes/proposal on some other associated work. I definitely recommend this business and will call them first anytime I need plumbing work done. Thanks team!

There were many issues with our boiler and plumbing both here and at a rental property. They worked very hard and even came back at 8 pm to finish
up. Both Sean and Mikey are so nice to work with. Highly recommend.

Muhammad got back to me quickly with a quote and promptly scheduled the time to replace a bathtub and shower faucet. His price was really reasonable and he did a fantastic job. Muhammad is the first person I will call if i have any plumbing issues in the future.

Donzelle was awesome. We had an emergency plumbing situation (backup flowing up through my tenant's shower drain...pretty gross), and Donzelle was the first person to respond to my requests. His communication was excellent throughout, his prices were fair, and he responded immediately. He was also able to work with the tenant to find a time that worked best for everybody for follow-up work. He didn't try to upsell or pressure us based on the situation and his quality of work was fantastic. Sent pictures and updates throughout, cleaned up, and my tenant also reported that he was very satisfied. Super professional, 5 stars.

Stay away! This project has caused us nothing but stress and work!
We were given a time estimate of 3 days for replacing the ceiling on our main level and installing 8 recessed lights. When we noticed that workers did not make use of any tarp or drop cloths, or care when working in our home, we were annoyed. When the work took 5 full days instead of 3 we were frustrated but understood. Sometimes something turns out to be more work than initially thought - it happens. We were so desperate to get our home back that we even ended up helping the workers paint & clean, just so we could start the process of moving back upstairs into our main level.
When we fully inspected the work the next day in daylight we realized that it was a mess! The ceiling was uneven, full of dents and craters. The work around the recessed lights was messy and just plain ugly. Our hardwood floor was still covered in paint, some of the baseboards damaged and a wooden beam dividing our living space, covered in paint and scratched.
I mentioned all our concerns to Clay when he stopped by a few days later to change out some light switches. He ensured me everything would be taken care of and fixed. We agreed Gabriel, his worker who did the majority of the work, would stop by the following weekend to fix any spots that needed more work.
Gabriel did in fact stop by 2 more times, again plastering, sanding and painting without the use of any tarp or drop cloths (we provided our own this time but paint still got on our rugs and floors). In an attempt to fix some of the damaged spots on our wall he used our wall paint we had sitting on the counter, which was glossy paint for the kitchen, on our living room walls which used matte paint. Leaving us the having to repaint the entire living room. The ceiling was still uneven, a light fixture in our hallway covered in paint, and the recess lighting still messy. Our house was yet again completely covered in dust, paint and plaster and we were still living in our basement.
After 5 full days of work and 2 extra evening visits, we were still extremely unhappy with the work and the care (or lack thereof) taken in our home.
I contacted Clay and told him that we were very frustrated mostly as an FYI but also declined having Gabriel come to our home again since we already knew it would end up in more damage than progress. We decided to fix any issues ourself since we just wanted our home back. Clay apparently took this as an opportunity to reveal his anger issues and accused us of not paying (I personally paid the amount in full 1 week prior with him standing across the room) and threatened to put a lien on our home and that we would hear from his attorney. He then said that it was not fair to complain without giving him the chance to fix any outstanding issues with their work. But after 7 days of work when 3 days were promised, we felt we had given more than a fair chance to make things right.
Overall a bad experience with this company. We had been very accommodating with the work taking much longer than promised, the mess in our home and paid in full before work was finished.
Unprofessional, rude, careless and no attention to detail. Will definitely never use again or recommend to anyone. Stay away!

Had a sump pump fail and they came and did a same day emergency replacement. I originally reached out to Opata for a second opinion bc I honestly don't know much about plumbing and they agreed with the other company that the sump pump needed to be replaced. Price was about $150 less than what the other company quoted me so I went with Opata. I had a million questions before and after the new sump pump was installed and they were super responsive and gave detailed answers to each question. I really appreciated this. Us first time home owners need help so it was great to not feel annoying for having a lot of questions.

Received four quotes for three major home projects: A complete master bathroom remodel, a new deck, and replacement of a drop ceiling with sheetrock and repair of a water-damaged wall in a guest bedroom.
The first three quotes were from high end remodelers. A friend recommended Allen Geoffrey's Handyman Services to us (she had just had her bathroom remodeled). Geoff and his crew (Mark and Brian) came out to survey the jobs. They spent more time with me going over what work we wanted and what our major concerns were. They suggested a comprehensive plan of attack from top to bottom. We were consulted at every step of each of the projects to ensure that our expectations and design elements were incorporated.
Their price quote came in thousands (yes, thousands) of dollars less than the three previous quotes. While they don't provide the design assistance of the high end contractors, they met us at a big box contractor store and helped us color-coordinate our design interests. They took care of ordering all the various pieces parts needed and got us a significant discount on materials.
First, they replaced the deck to install flashing (that the previous home owner neglected to do), that led to the water damage in the guest bedroom. The deck was brought up to code and revealed serious problems with the previous deck installation.
After the deck was done, the crew split off into two teams, one working on the master bathroom, the other, working on the guest bedroom.
The crew took care of hauling off all old materials and cleaned up after each day. The work was first-rate.
As with any major home project, unexpected/unforeseen problems arise. While removing the water-damaged sheetrock in the guest bedroom, major water damage was discovered to the exterior wall. Geoff gave me a very reasonable labor estimate to repair the wall. That wall is now the strongest in the house.
They show up when expected, every day, until the job is done. They go beyond what is expected to ensure that the client is happy with the direction the project is headed.
I highly recommend these master plumbers. I guess my highest endorsement is that, when our kitchen cabinets come in, Geoff and his crew will be doing our complete kitchen remodel (again, coming in thousands of dollars less than the high-end contractors). If you need any work done to your home, give them a call. They will not disappoint you.
And, Geoff, Mark, & Brian, our new master bathroom looks and functions beyond our expectations. Thank you!

I contacted Drain Works for gas fireplace servicing and had a fantastic experience. Within a week, I didn't hesitate to call them for a major plumbing installation. Drain Works has solid communication, upfront and reasonable pricing, and followed all COVID protocol. Sandy and Jorge are two of the nicest guys I have worked with. Do not hesitate - contact them!!

I hired Snell for Winter and Spring maintenance and for an estimate on a new HVAC system.
Pros:
1) Great telephone customer service - they always answer the phone and follow through. They guarantee they will answer the phone 24/7 or else you get a $50 gift card.
2) Their staff is professional, polite, and clean cut.
3) Per their website, they run a tight ship - just read the rules their employees must follow (although only one of the two technicians knew about the rules, so I am not sure what good the rules are if the technicians are not aware of them). I also noticed their technicians are not aware of the Snell guarantees (see below).
Middle of the Road:
1) Per their website, Snell offers a lifetime unit guarantee for the original owner of a new HVAC system. I am wondering if they have funds in escrow to cover this claim. The technician didn't mention the guarantee during the appointment, so I didn't know about it - it may have changed my mind.
2) Per their website, many of their systems supposedly come with a 10 year labor guarantee, but I was only offered a 2 year labor guarantee.
Cons:
1) Their website stakes a lot of claims, but the staff is not up to speed on the claims. For instance, Snell apparently price matches, but I emailed the technician to inform him that I was offered a better deal ($1200 less for a more upgraded system - same manufacturer) and he did not offer me a price match.
2) Dominion Power offers a $99 rebate on tune-ups but Snell is not a participating provider. Most other well known HVAC companies do participate in the program.
3) Snell prices were $1,200 higher than any other company I received an estimate from.
4) Two maintenance calls did not resolve a humming noise that was easily resolved by the next company I hired.
Full story:
My HVAC was making a strange humming noise so I thought a tune up might help. I hired Snell to perform winter maintenance and to determine if maintenance would resolve the humming noise. They sent Kevin, a junior tech, to perform the winter service. The inspection took all of 10 minutes. He was not able to diagnose the humming noise because he could not hear it - said he does not have great hearing. I inquired about when I might need to replace the unit and asked about installation. He was able to provide minimal information (their senior techs are responsible for estimates). I wanted to get the humming issue resolved so I signed up for the $159 comfort club so I could also have another technician come out for spring maintenance.
I contacted Snell for spring maintenance and asked if they could send out a senior technician. They agreed. Justin, the senior tech, was obviously more versed in all things HVAC. Both he and Kevin thought the humming noise was originating from the blower motor or the duct work. Justin said the outside unit was leaking freon and I already knew my furnace was 30 years old so I asked for an estimate for a new system. He recommended two different Lennox heat pump models - a Basic model - 13HPX-018-230 & CBX25UH018 (1.5 ton, 13 SEER) for $5,487 or a higher grade model - 14HPX-018-230 & CBX25UHV-018 (1.5 ton, 14 SEER, variable speed motor) for $6,410 after a 5% discount. This was the first quote I received, so I called around for other estimates and realized that Snell's prices were sky high. The next company I called offered a more upgraded heat pump than Snell's highest priced model - XP14-018-230-09 & CBX32MV-018/24 (1.5 ton, 14 SEER, variable speed motor) with I Comfort Wifi Thermostat for $5,500 - $300 rebate (plus an additional year of 0% financing). Snell's pricing was a big deterrent.
Also, it turns out that the humming noise was coming from a vent on the other side of the HVAC and a few of the grates needed to be opened a bit wider to resolve the issue. The company I hired to complete the HVAC install figured it out - third time's a charm.
Note: both technicians were friendly and professional. Had it not been for the large price differential I would have likely hired Snell for the job.

We recently had a well line leaking, and would like to give a shout out to Tim, Wayne, BJ, and the crew for the great service and attention to details. The work required a bobcat in the yard and they did a great job keeping disruption to a minimum. We had something to be addressed after the initial work was complete, and Bj and Wayne came out in the excessive heat to address the issue. Thank you again for GREAT customer service! Will definitely use again.

The technician came into our home and did not even acknowledge our hellos or greetings which made us feel very uncomfortable.
When it came to look at our leak he was very unsure as to how to proceed, often asking us which parts of our walls and ceiling we would like for him to cut. He moved very slowly and did not give us straight answers about the source of the leak, wavering between possibilities. Ultimately he was unsure as to the source of the leak.
He said he could not do the repair on the same day (although we had been advised this would be possible when we made the appointment) due to him not having 1/2 inch CPVC pipes in the truck, but said he could wait for someone else to join him in two hours to do a same day repair. He advised we would pay for his time waiting the two hours, at $125/hr. We politely declined.
The gentleman also took calls and was on his phone during our job.
$350 for two hours of plumbing at a glacial pace. Never again.

Very polite and responsive however I thought turning off gas lever and adding a new shut off valve under the sink for ~$800+ seemed on the high priced side of things. That said I felt confident the work was done correctly.

What can I say? I called at 7:20 AM for clogged kitchen sink/disposal. They gave us a two hour window from 10 AM to 12 pm. Called at 8 AM and said they were running ahead of schedule and could they come in at 815 instead. In and out by 930, Took payment over the phone since I wasn't home (my parents were). Sent me an email receipt instantaneously. I have a perfectly functioning drain now. Money well spent!

Pros: Fast Response Time; Professional
Con: VERY expensive
So I am a bit torn on this review. They were incredibly responsive and were able to send someone to our unit ASAP. The technician was knowledgeable and very nice. He recommended that we had to replace the hot water heater. Unfortunately they price they quoted was DOUBLE (more than $1000 over my other quote) than other quotes I received (for the exact same brand of water heater as the replacement). I called the Company and said if they could come down on the price I'd be willing to use them since they had been so helpful (and because I already had to pay $99 for the initial diagnosis). I was told they had zero flexibility on price, so I ultimately went with another company (who I was VERY happy with). Overall, seemingly good company just ridiculously overpriced.

Kirk is the best! I have called on him for the past 10 years. He has worked on my old home and replaced and repaired all the plumbing needs. He is honest, has fair prices, and completes the job correctly!
