Best HVAC System Repair in Washington DC
Writing this review for service that occurred a few months ago (procrastination lol). Had a gas leak in my water heater closet. Gas company turned off the gas and then told me to get a plumber to replace a part. I picked Reddick & Sons because they had the best reviews on Yelp.
Pros:
1) Same-day service. I wanted this fast because I couldn't take hot showers.
2) Was able to schedule entirely through Yelp's Request a Quote (clicking the button on their Yelp page) and messaging features (no phone call needed).
3) Technician was friendly and explained some things. Was able to watch as the technician did the work. Also, I think he wore some things around his shoes to not dirty my floor IIRC.
4) Got a digital copy of the bill and all services rendered.
5) I confirmed that they were licensed.
6) They used a tool similar to the gas company to confirm no more gas leak. I still smelled something so ended up calling the gas company anyway later which also said no leak. Good times.
Cons:
1) Unlike some other reviews, not sure if the price was reasonable. The bill was a bit opaque given no split between parts and labor. It was on the higher end of the other estimates, but I accepted this in favor of fixing things quickly.
2) My shower water was cooler than before after they completed their work. I did ask them if they could come back to check out but was afraid that I would be charged again so decided to fix myself. Had to adjust the water mixing valve.

Our garbage disposal was leaking from the base and Drymount Air was the first to respond (and with a very reasonable quote) to replace it. Sean was extremely responsive and got us scheduled as quickly as possible. The technician, Adam, was highly professional and in this covid quarantine time, came to the house with a mask and gloves, which was very reassuring. He replaced the disposal in less than an hour and also helped with a small issue with our toilet tank. I was able to pay the invoice right on the spot via my phone so didn't have to exchange cards, checks, etc. which was another great benefit during #socialdistancing.

Received four quotes for three major home projects: A complete master bathroom remodel, a new deck, and replacement of a drop ceiling with sheetrock and repair of a water-damaged wall in a guest bedroom.
The first three quotes were from high end remodelers. A friend recommended Allen Geoffrey's Handyman Services to us (she had just had her bathroom remodeled). Geoff and his crew (Mark and Brian) came out to survey the jobs. They spent more time with me going over what work we wanted and what our major concerns were. They suggested a comprehensive plan of attack from top to bottom. We were consulted at every step of each of the projects to ensure that our expectations and design elements were incorporated.
Their price quote came in thousands (yes, thousands) of dollars less than the three previous quotes. While they don't provide the design assistance of the high end contractors, they met us at a big box contractor store and helped us color-coordinate our design interests. They took care of ordering all the various pieces parts needed and got us a significant discount on materials.
First, they replaced the deck to install flashing (that the previous home owner neglected to do), that led to the water damage in the guest bedroom. The deck was brought up to code and revealed serious problems with the previous deck installation.
After the deck was done, the crew split off into two teams, one working on the master bathroom, the other, working on the guest bedroom.
The crew took care of hauling off all old materials and cleaned up after each day. The work was first-rate.
As with any major home project, unexpected/unforeseen problems arise. While removing the water-damaged sheetrock in the guest bedroom, major water damage was discovered to the exterior wall. Geoff gave me a very reasonable labor estimate to repair the wall. That wall is now the strongest in the house.
They show up when expected, every day, until the job is done. They go beyond what is expected to ensure that the client is happy with the direction the project is headed.
I highly recommend these master plumbers. I guess my highest endorsement is that, when our kitchen cabinets come in, Geoff and his crew will be doing our complete kitchen remodel (again, coming in thousands of dollars less than the high-end contractors). If you need any work done to your home, give them a call. They will not disappoint you.
And, Geoff, Mark, & Brian, our new master bathroom looks and functions beyond our expectations. Thank you!

**UPDATED 3/20- Huge thanks to Scott for coming out immediately and rectifying the issue I previously had! He took care of my vent cleaning personally, sent photos, and called me as soon as he was done. This is how all business owners should handle valid complaints. Because of Scott's service I am very pleased with this company and have no problem referring them in the future.

I hired Zapata's HVAC Systems to remodel my first floor 1/2 bathroom. It was done very poorly. The paint job was sub-par. I had to hire another contractor to fix his work. The new contractor had to repair the walls and re-paint; repair mirror trim paint; paint the ceiling. In addition, I had to beg Mr. Zapata to take the old toilet that he left in my backyard. After a few weeks, he finally hauled the toilet away.
Moreover, I hired Mr. Zapata to install gutter guards in all my gutters. He did a poor job and left many misaligned and sticking up. Some of them blew off. Again, I had to hire another contractor to finish and fix his work.
Mr.Zapata said that I needed a new garbage disposal per my inspection report. I read the report afterwards and it did not say that. Beware as this contractor pushes to be paid via Zelle and Venmo. I found out that a previous customer filed a BBB complaint alleging unnecessary work performed and wanting to be paid via Venmo. In addition, like the other customer, he will not furnish invoices.

I had nothing but the best experience!!!!
My situation was unique. I recently underwent chemo and am very sensitive to fumes.
I was having an issue with smells in certain areas in my home and the owner John came out and quickly figured out a solution.
He was 100% honest and gave me do it yourself tips, rather than putting out money for professional services.
I chose to the professional service for a variety of reasons (too long to get into here). Their prices are phenomenal! THEY DO NO NICKEL AND DIME YOU LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!
And they were pristine! 0 Fumes from their work and did exactly as they promised!
I cannot say enough nice things! All the workers were really top notch and the owner came out the day of the job to explain exactly what I needed done because my situation was so unique!
So professional and friendly at the same time!!
I wish there were more companies like this!! IF YOU HAVE ANY FUME/ ODOR ISSUES, I SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND YOU CALL JOHN!

I think most of us have up and down relationships with heat/plumbing/aircon folks... Mine is like that, probably like most of us due mostly to my unfamiliarity with the products and terminology of the industry.
Clover has been punctual when I've called, and reliable with both the equipment they supply AND the service they provide. If issues arise they are diligent about getting it straightened out, & will make accommodations to keep the customer happy. Communicative, responsive, & knowledgeable.

I have used Allied Service Company to service my rental properties in Bethesda and Baltimore. They are very professional, quick to respond, respectful of the tenants, and all round perfect to work with! Bob is great and the prices are very fair. When you have tenants without heat or plumbing that doesn't work, it is a nightmare - and Allied is a dream to work with!

Inviting a repair person into your home during these COVID times is nothing short of scary. With our AC unit completely out and heat advisories sweeping through the area, we had no choice. CB Lucas was able to get us in right away and let me know when our repairman, Eric, was headed our way. Eric was friendly, professional, quick to fix the problem, and most importantly very safe! He wore a mask, gloves, and kept his distance. Even without a pandemic I don't like 'strangers' in my home; Eric made me feel very comfortable and now I'm giddily blasting the AC! I highly recommend this company!

I already reviewed CD Shanahan's once to say how impressed I was with them. This morning I had to call them again with a mystery leak. They not only got someone out here within a couple of hours, he immediately identified the problem. As Elijah explained what the issue was, he noted that he might have to cut through the wall to fix it. Although, I understood, I made a comment that I hope it doesn't come to that. Elijah went above and beyond to make sure he didn't cut the wall. It probably would have taken him half the time to fix the problem if he did. This is a fantastic company and I cannot be happier with their work.

Eduardo took great care in replacing our kitchen sink faucet. When a part was missing in the new faucet he took the time to go to Home Depot and get the missing part. He also noticed a valve needed replacing and he took care of that. He will be my go to plumber from now on

I called to ask about getting inspections on a home under contract. Wanted to know what type of inspections should be done on a 1900 home in DC. Kiesha (do not know how to spell her name) told me they would come out and then recommend what should be done. I told her I wanted to speak with her supervisor (she is the supervisor), her manger, (she is the manager), then asked for a plumber or an HVAC person to speak to directly. She told me they do not work that way. Road blocks at every turn. She told me that this is how Magnolia works. She would not have anyone call me or help me other than herself, and she told me she was not a technician. Appears that Magnolia has gotten to big for their boots.

We called two weeks ago because our AC unit, which was installed by Michael and Sons in 2009, was not working. A friendly tech came out and spent about a half an hour here, after which he charged us $350 and tried to sell us a hard start for $200 and different service plans for various amounts. I have since learned their techs to work for commission on what they can up-sell. He assured us the house should cool down shortly. It never did. We called back and they said if they returned to our home it would be at least another $85 just to come and look at it. This, in spite of the fact that we had paid them $350 already and all we had to show for it was 80 temps and higher in our home. The unit was running constantly just to maintain temps in the 80s so I'm sure our electric bill will be part 2 of this nightmare.
As I type this, another tech from A DIFFERENT COMPANY is here. This is the second time he has come because he had to order parts from Carrier. He said our initial installation was very poorly done. He was here for 3 hours the first time and he has been here for at least 4 hours today fixing multiple issues. As I type this, it is 82 degrees in my living room. We have an elderly dog and I pray he survives this two-week ordeal. I will never call Micheal and Sons for anything ever again.
UPDATE: it gets better! New tech just said we were WAY oversold by M & S because a townhome the size of ours normally requires a unit that holds 5 lbs of freon. They sold us one that holds 11 lbs.

Terrible service. We had a water pipe break in an outside storage area and in the basement. Spartan came 3 times to fix it. They had no idea what they were doing. The repairman showed up without the right tools or equipment. The remediation service working in the basement warned me. They work they did was shoddy and incomplete. Two weeks after Spartan completed the work, the pipe started to leak again - such a major leak that DC Water notified me of excessive water use. I had to turn off all the water in the house again. I called Spartan and made an appointment and the repairman did not show up or even call. I would never ever use Spartan again and I would not recommend them. Ed N. Washington, DC
