Best Gas Furnace Installation in San Diego CA

Heater and AC quit working.  Thermostat on wall was frizzed out. Went to Home Depot and grabbed a similar thermostat and installed it but no success w getting heater or AC back on line.  Checked yelp for hvac guys and saw American Ace.  Called around 5 pm Wednesday and spoke to Fred.  Scheduled a 8-10am appointment for Thursday.  Fred arrived on time and quickly diagnosed my faulty capacitor and replaced it from his on board truck stock. I was up and running in less than one hour time. AC and heater work beautifully w my new thermostat and capacitor.  Based on this experience, I will use Fred for future hvac and plumbing needs.

Poor customer service and prices!  I got two estimates - one for electrical work and one for HVAC.  While the estimators were knowledgeable and appeared to be interested, the pricing was high, and they do not return your calls.  If they don't return your calls before the work, they certainly won't be there afterward.  Would not recommend them - my experience was not good.  I went elsewhere, got better prices and much better follow-up.

Ok, so we turn the air on, nothing happens... we call Bill Howe. Guy comes out for an estimate, 65$ to come take a look. Ok, guy comes out , takes a look at the furnace, which provides forced air for heating and air conditioning... +++Blower fan not working+++ Very important detail. Checks the condenser on the patio for the air.. Ah, Sorry folks, condenser has a leak, it is empty of R22...maybe can refill for 3500$, which includes leak detection, repair... CHEAPER to have replaced. Ok, repair guy says 6800$ for the condenser and coil..but he will send out an estimator. He comes, runs an estimate for 7100$. OH my, let us think about it...  Finally we have the blower fan replaced, cost us 203$, that part would have cost 850$, but under warranty..Whew... So I tell my wife later that night, let's run the system, LO and BEHOLD, we have cold air coming out the vents.. We have another HVAC person come out the next day, and HE SAYS, IT IS FULL,  I say WHAT?, HE SAYS IT'S FULL, OH...so in other words there is nothing wrong with the air conditioning system??? NOPE, IT'S FULL.... HE STATES YOU CANNOT TEST THE SYSTEM UNLESS THE BLOWER FAN IS WORKING, REALLY??? In-between all this, we saw another HVAC guy in the driveway, talked him into coming down and looking, we tell him the fan motor is not working on the furnace, he states, YOU CANNOT TEST THE SYSTEM WITHOUT THE FAN MOTOR WORKING,  Someone is feeding you the you know what... Now we have great air, minus spending 7100$ on a new system that THAT WE DID NOT NEED !!!!!!!!!

Quick response. Great service.  Every step of the way was smooth with Jeff N Carls.  I was worried I would be over paying for one thing so I came up with 3 things and after the plumber came and fixed the toilet and said no charge it gave me a lot of confidence to have them look at the leaky hose bib.  

They needed to go get a part and didn't charge me for extra time.  Overall the work was professional and on target. They walked me through every step and let me know what to do if things go bad.  Well done.  I know who I'll call if I need anything plumbing related.

We've shopped around for HVAC for a couple years and received many quotes. Most who have come out turn out to be more of a sales push.  Our guy, Cody, was awesome.  He gave us the estimate and let us decide without any kind of hard sale.  Tarpy's estimate was the best we had received.  Cody helped us with the financing, once we decided, and they started the job within a week.  The installers were very nice and worked super hard. We've lived in our house for 18 years without A/C and I couldn't be happier with the job and the coolness of our house. We got a Bosch system which is considered one of the better HVAC systems and they were still to lowest bid.

We had a little hiccup with the system shutting down.  We called last night, got a live person (which is shocking for how late we called) and she offered to have someone come out right away.  My husband told her we were ok until today and she scheduled a tech to come out between 9 and 11.  He showed up on time and fixed the issue immediately.  Cory was our tech who came out today and he was very friendly and knowledgeable.  He gave us some good tips on our system.

I called them to check out our air conditioning which was not working.  The rep came out for $100 diagnostic.  He told us that it would be $600 to replace a transformer and also to proceed to sell us a new unit.  I called another company, they fixed the whole thing for $275 and said we did not need another unit.  

I am really disappointed in their service and how they tried to gouge us in the summer time and tried to upsell us to a new unit.

Way over priced. A lot of upselling. Got the work done for a fraction of the price. Will not call again.

Thompson Heating and Air Conditioning is AMAZING. They know exactly what they are doing. We had a couple of local well-known companies come out and diagnose our A/C unit, which wasn't cooling. They all gave an hour explanation on what they found and how the numbers of their tests don't lie. They all said to get a new unit and quoted around $2,500. Thompson came out and just by what I told him he knew exactly what was wrong. $145 later out unit started blowing cold air. Thompson is the ONLY person to call when you have problems with your heating or air.

I have used Jerry's service repeatedly for both our home and business place from small job to repiping the house. His technician Juan and Cody was just here today on the same day call and I was able to get things fixed within next few hours!!!! Juan and Cody was very respectful and professional. I can't speak enough about Jerry and his crew of how excellent they are with their services and professionalism. I highly recommend them for both residential and commercial job.

They were super responsive and professional. My neighbor had them out just when I needed a service, and so I had them visit me after they finished. It is pretty corporate in that I had to call into the appointment center and talk to the dispatcher to ask if this person that was already there could come over for an estimate. He was super professional and good experience, cut open some drywall as part of the $49 visit free, plus the $7 fuel charge which was a little silly for driving 10ft...but whatever.

Quote was $710 for a simple 2'' pipe repair. I ultimately got it done by another plumber for $210. Looks like their pricing is really high and very glad I got the other quote.

I would definitely recommend THA. Our A/C unit went out today and living out in east county in the middle of August I immediately tried to get ahold of someone to come out to take a look at it. I called at least eight different companies and Matthew at THA was the only one that got back to me. Not only did he call me back right away but after a 12 hour work day he was already heading home but was kind enough to make one more stop. He figured out the problem, explained what needed to be fixed and within 30 minutes we were up and running again. I highly recommend them and will definitely call them again in the future with any problems. Thanks again THA!!

Ok, I want to update this review.  Following my original posting Shannon followed-up with me to apologize and ask if they could have an opportunity to earn my trust back.  They responded to this post, called me and even sent me a card in the mail.  That in itself was impressive.  They actually cared.

Since I was continuing to have AC problems I agreed to have them come out for another try.  Bill was the service tech and I must say he seemed to know what he was talking about and presented himself very professionally.  Turns out we agreed I should replace the blower fan, among some other work.  He ordered the parts and came back earlier today to complete the work.  At this time everything seems good.

While he was here I asked him what it would cost to simply replace the entire system.  It is over 20 years old.  He called the office and asked if they would send a rep out to meet with me and provide me with a price.  On the same day, today, Curt & Dustin came to my house to look at everything, sat down and explained my options on new equipment and gave me a price.  Again, they seemed to be very thorough and definitely were very professional.

I have changed my review from 1 star to 5 stars and even purchased their service contract.  Time will tell if I need to purchase a new system or not.

OLD REVIEW:

I called this business because another one failed to show up as scheduled.  They made an appointment to stop in and service my unit.  If they found a problem they could diagnose it and suggest repairs.  If I said there is a problem the initial call would cost more.

The day of my appointment I received a call informing me they had a lot of people with problem units and would like to reschedule me.  I wasn't happy about this but agreed to reschedule.  At this point another company should up unexpectedly and was able to service my unit so I called Sherlock back and said to disregard the appointment.

While I understand emergencies come up and am usually willing to work with them the bottom line is I don't want to become one of their emergencies and I don't like being like an afterthought.
