Sherlock Heating & Air Conditioning was founded by Aaron and Rebecca Sherlock in 2002, but its true history began in 1994 when Aaron began his HVAC career in Encinitas. After 8 years of experience working in the industry as an installer, service technician and eventually a comfort consultant, Aaron opened Sherlock Heating and Air Conditioning. At the heart of this new venture was the commitment to always provide the highest quality products, service, and installation to the client. Since 2002, the size of the staff has grown from 2 to more than 30, but the founding inspiration remains unchanged. Our mission is to provide ideal comfort to our clients while fostering personal and professional growth within our team. In 1994, I started working in the HVAC industry for a small HVAC company in Encinitas. After 2 years of seeing the industry on a small scale I decided it was time to move on to a larger HVAC company in Oceanside, which at that time, was providing the highest quality services and products. I was looking for an opportunity to grow and increase my knowledge of this intriguing trade. Six good years of high quality field training and classroom schooling passed before I stopped to realize that the time had come for me to move on. This large company was losing its focus on the most important parts of a successful business...the employees and their customers. With my ultimate desire to always provide the highest quality service and installation to the customer, I started Sherlock Heating & Air Conditioning Inc. My goal with this company, has been and always will be to provide the best service and installation of heating and air conditioning to North County San Diego and its surrounding cities.

I called in the morning about a needing a thermostat replacement. Victor and Skylar arrived later the same day.
They made sure the furnace was working ok and explained how the furnace worked as they checked it out. They then replaced the thermostat with one that I wanted - one a simple to operate.
They were both very professional, efficient and pleasant. They checked to make sure the new thermostat worked both for the AC and furnace. I would use Sherlock again.

I used this company twice, even though they are North County and I am in El Cajon. They are very efficient and check with you before the appointment to let you know when their person will be out to help you.
My plumber was Tommy Clementi and he showed up right on time. He said as personable yet business-like and went to work right away on my plumbing issue after assessing the situation. He did his very best to clear the pipe, running into some roots. At that time I elected to stop the service, as it was going to require much more work than I could handle at the moment. Tommy then cleaned up, and cleared out in a professional manner.
I would recommend Tommy and Sherlock Plumbing, Heating and Air to anyone, regardless of their location in San Diego. Very trustworthy and ethical company.
I'd advise against Sherlock Plumbing, Heating & Air
We recently contracted Sherlock Plumbing Heating & Air to install a new 5 ton electric heat pump at our house and while the unit functions well unfortunately the company that installed it does not.
They failed to perform any load calculation to account for adding additional electrical appliances to our house and as a result if other appliances are running it will trip a circuit breaker. When contacted for a solution to this it took several weeks to get any sort of response other than We're looking into it and when we finally did discuss their initial suggestion for a fix contradicted what we initially agreed to (heat pump would connect to the critical load sub-panel which is backed up with batteries) which I declined. Their second suggestion was that we find a friend who is an electrician to troubleshoot it and fix it.
At that point I realized they were useless and am now moving on to find a solution to the issue.
If you choose to work with them make sure you hold them accountable otherwise they'll likely just sell you something and run.

We had a leak and a nightmare experience through another plumbing company. Then Kacey at Sherlock Plumbing Heating & Air was so nice, patient, and knowledgeable over the phone. Kyle came, found the cause of our leak within minutes, and fixed the problem at a very reasonable price. We were so happy to have a great plumber in the house, we asked Kyle to install 4 new bathroom faucets. They look awesome! We're so happy to have found Sherlock Plumbing Heating & Air!

Seems like they prefer to collect $100 service call fees rather than actually perform the requested service. Extremely overpriced and deceptive. Very disappointed. Probably knowledgable and capable, just not hard working and honest.
We went to Yelp and hired Sherlock to help with a drain clog. Kyle did such a good job that we hired him to do a bunch of stuff for us. It was a great value and they were right on time. I highly recommend. Kyle went over and beyond and I'm so satisfied with the service!
First to respond and first to show up out of all other companies. Great service as always. New garbage disposal install. Technician was in and out in less than an hour
Having to replace a leaking water heater is no fun, and could have been a highly stressful experience. Luckily, the Sherlock team was available on a Saturday to take our call and quickly set up a first available Monday morning appointment to check things out. Morghon, our plumber, was amazing from beginning to end. He quickly assessed the situation, made a very reasonable recommendation on a replacement heater at a very fair price, picked up the equipment, returned back to install and haul our old heater away the very same day. He also troubleshooted and fixed a separate problem caused by a local water company technician. We would highly recommend Morghon! He brings a wealth of experience and technical expertise to Sherlock Plumbing Heating & Air. We will definitely ask for him for any future needs. Thank you again Morghon!

I had a bad back-up in my kitchen sink. No other back-up in my three bathrooms. I called a plumber and he said, I put the snake 15 feet down the drain and it's blocked. You have a broken or collapsed line. Call these sewer specialists. I saw big dollar signs. I slept on it and the next day called Sherlock. They sent Tommy out that afternoon. He worked for 2 hours trying to clear the drain. He was very professional and communicated with me. He analyzed the issue and said he was 99% sure it was NOT a broken line. But, he would have to come back the next days with the camera. Tommy and Morghon arrived at 9 am and worked until noon the blockage. They showed me the blockage on camera, explained things to me, and were determined to fix the problem. They did and I also had them completely flush out the sewer line. I could see the difference on the camera. These are the most honest plumbers I have ever dealt with. Very methodical and able to analyze the problem and provide the propert equipment to correct the problem. Thanks to Tommy, Morghon, and Sherlock Plumbing.

I have dealt with contractors of all professions in the last 45+ years.
I have seen the unscrupulous, inept, unprofessional, negligent and untruthful. Sherlock Plumbing (Heating and A/C) is in my opinion the exact opposite. They are GREAT!
I was having problems where my heater would intermittently work. I called Sherlock Plumbing and spoke with Bob who was extremely curteous and helpful in arranging for someone to come over and figure out what was going on. The next day Victor arrived. He thoroughly examined the heater as well as tested certain items on it. He explained everything to me in a very clear and concise way. Afterwards, he informed me that the problem was due to some extremely dirty air filters (I saw them and they should have been changed long before). Victor changed them and again tested the heater to make sure that it was working properly and it was.
These guys are the real deal. Honest, efficient, knowledgeable and very curteous. I did not have a regular plumber before. Now, I do as in the future whenever I experience any plumbing problems Sherlock will be the one I call.

Main pipe leak that needed a simple fix with a coupling. Got quoted $899. Found another licensed plumber for $85.
The estimator and technician who came to our house were extremely professional. They were great at educating me on what HVAC system I needed and how to think about the process of replacing my old units.
Yet... When I got the quote, it had nothing to do with what we discussed. It was a single line item that listed a system that I told them I would consider. It did not include any other information (no line item details of what each part and service would cost). It did not provide any options.
I called and asked for an updated quote. Rather than sending me what I asked for, they wanted to talk to me about the quote they sent.
So I hired a competitor.

I usually don't post but after waiting all day they could not make the appt and then wanted to reschedule for a week later. I purposely called with enough time to get someone here to fix it before my busy weekend. Very disappointed.

Sherlock Plumbing has excellent customer service. I've used them multiple times and have been impressed with their service and customer care each time. They are responsive to inquiries in a timely manner. They are easy to schedule with. They sent me a message with the plumber's ETA along with a picture of the van, and a picture and name of the plumber so I know who to expect (this makes me feel safe). I've had different plumbers come each time and they have all been exceptionally professional, kind, thorough, and explain everything to me very well. They have many options to address repairs and are very honest about costs (for example, if I can save money by buying the part myself they let me know and help me find the part). I highly recommend them!

Don't post a ton to Yelp, unless it really deserves it. These guys are horrible. I don't think they understand if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Aside from rescheduling on us three times, here is a summary of their semi-annual reviews:
1) everything working fine, somehow technician disconnects the AC on one of the hottest days of the year. Have a newborn sleeping in 85 degree room, horrible customer service for a problem they caused (everything worked great before they showed up to check).
2) no issues checking functioning equipment, a miracle!
3) Semi-annual inspection and literally they leave with the water heater leaking all over the garage. Call the technician, water everywhere, to his credit he comes back and stops the leak.
Friday PM and our hot water is not working. Everything was fine before the inspection, if anything too hot. Now, no hot water, and 2 kids under the age of 3 w/ no call back.
Takes a lot for 1 star, but would give them negative if I could.
I felt like I was an after thought as I had to call 90 minutes after they said they would arrive to see where they were. At first I was told the Plumber was running late, then it was oh someone will be right there. Once he arrived, he was nice, but he had BO. I understand he was working all day but IMHO, first impressions still matter. I was upsold from the jump. The prices were way to high and the scheduling process was too difficult. I looked elsewhere and had the same amount of work done by a 5 star Plummer for less than half the price, work that was also guaranteed and done with a smile!

It was the middle of Aug. days were getting hot. Wanted to understand how much it would cost to repair my air conditioner unit. It had just failed a day prior.
Appointment organization was impressive. Sms reminders and name and picture of person who is to arrive. Great communication.
$450 Air condition repair quote. The part to be repaired $30. Amount of work, 30minutes. Clearly a business needs to make money. But this seemed a bit extreme in my opinion. Maybe it's common in the industry.
To be fair, person who came out was great. Very professional.

I called about an issue with an AC unit and right off the bat the gentleman who answered the call gave me literally the best customer service experience I've had in ages. It was really notable because that is so rare these days. Then, they followed up very quickly and sent Josh out. He was also extremely professional and very informative. It looked like my AC unit may need to be replaced and I was getting myself mentally prepared for that $11,000 bomb.
After taking my old unit apart and testing everything, he eventually found that the issue was a faulty wire which he replaced right away, charged me a total of $175 after spending over an hour at my home and even set me up with an appointment the following work day with one of the people in their water filtration division. These guys are trustworthy and extremely professional. Way better than 95% of my past heating and plumbing company experiences and I've had my share. I would highly recommend them.
I have used Sherlock services in 2017 and called them to trouble shoot my furnace. Josh Thompson was sent out after the technician recommended replacement of my over 20 year heating unit.
Josh took the time to educate me on the heating and cooling systems in the industry and the prices are competitive with other companies.

We're on the last day of a kitchen remodel. We called Sherlock to hook up the new sink, new disposal, new faucet, and existing dishwasher. They did an outstanding job with friendly, experienced service. But one of the best and most unusual things they did was change the time of the appointment---on the same day! The tile installer didn't finish until noon, and Sherlock happily changed the window from 8-12 to afternoon. I couldn't be happier and am very happy I signed an annual plumbing service agreement with them.

Late on a Saturday night, I realized that my hot water heater wasn't working. On Sunday I sent a service request via Sherlock's website, hoping I'd connect with them on Monday. At 7:45 a.m. they called me! Great start! James arrived within an hour, and after explaining my options, went right to work. Now it's not even 2 pm and I'm all set! I'm so very impressed with the response time, work performed, and future service options. I've joined the VIP Comfort Club, it's a truly great deal. If you want top notch service, quality products, and fair prices, call Sherlock. I did and I'm so glad!

$4,000 for $25.00 igniter plus damaged both my AC units cleaning with a high preasure hose - 2 new 5 ton units replaced by a reputable company. $25,000.
My advice is to avoid this company like the plague, else have your lawyer on standby.
It has been 9 months since my inspection and I installed a few carbon monoxide detectors and NO issues. Be very careful with Sherlock Plumbing and heating. They will try to rip you off
One of the drainage tubing in our backyard is clotted, we happened to call Sherlock plumbing to come for a check without reading the reviewing regarding this company on internet, they gave us a quotation of $750 for cleaning up the clotting of this drainage tubing which we agreed, however on the service day, they couldn't clean up the clotting, they only tried less than one hour, the condition of the blockage is still the same, however they insist still charging the $750, since I was not on the spot, my husband begged them to reduce the charge, they were reluctant to reduce the charge to $407 for a service only worth $79, later when I called them to ask if the $407 is a reasonable charge, they told me if we let them to do a big project on fixing this issue, they can consider refund partial of the $407 charge back to us, the cost of that big project is more than $12000 according to the manager.
Tim Crowley did an excellent job diagnosing and servicing our HVAC system. A different company had misdiagnosed the problem and quoted $1,300 to replace the blower. Tim's expertise saved us around $1,100! He is friendly and well informed with awesome communication skills. I highly recommend Sherlock as everyone spoken to has been pleasant. Thanks Tim!

We had a full AC & Heating install done with Sherlock in 2020, and they did such a great job. Everyone we worked with were so thorough at explaining everything to us. We've had a couple of thermostats die on us, but each time we called them they came out the same day and replaced them no charge. They definitely offer up some of the best customer service of any profit service we've used.

Had an issue with our A/C not working so we contacted Sherlock to come out and take a look. They were timely and responsive. Joshua immediately found the problem - a bad thermostat. Unfortunately, we needed a new one but Joshua recommended a Nest thermostat which will give us a much longer warranty and give us better value in our cooling & heating cycling. Joshua was super patient while I asked questions and explained things well. He was professional and courteous. Every time we've dealt with Sherlock we've had great customer service.

The summer heat and humidity was becoming so unbearable! Shopped around and got an estimate from Jack. He explained everything and our options thoroughly. We couldn't refuse the offer and just had our new air conditioning and furnace installed. The installers, Billy and Wade were awesome! They were very friendly and did such a great job with the install. They set everything up neatly and cleaned up after themselves. Great service guys! Billy took his time to explain the process and walked me through the app to use our new thermostat. I highly recommend this company and if you're lucky you might get Billy and Wade to do your install!

WOW these people are good!
I needed the services recently of both a plumber (hot water heater dumped water) and an HVAC tech (a/c unit leaked in the attic). Both were stunningly good.
Several years ago, I enlisted the services of an HVAC company who had a booth at (but are not affiliated with) Costco, due to my a/c unit not cooling the place. Big mistake. They suggested bigger vents. Bloody heck.
Had I enlisted the services of Sherlock back then, the a/c compressor would still have been under warranty. John at Sherlock was able to diagnose the issues (there were several) straight away.
I came upon Sherlock by way of a plumber in the SF Bay Area, whose services I had needed when I lived up there, and he was a big fan of Bradford-White hot water heaters. A quick visit to the B-W web site showed the Sherlock was a local dealer.
Bradford-White is a quality product, and Sherlock is all about quality service, so it makes sense for the two to be connected.
Sure wish I would have known about Sherlock earlier, but I'm thrilled to have found them now.

Sherlock installed a new AC and heating unit for us recently and did a really great job. They definitely strive to be professional and personable. From the moment we signed the contract we had a team out within 48hrs working on the install! There was a slight issue with the final installation and they had someone out the next day to remedy it. Eric Murillo was very professional and quickly diagnosed the issue and remedied it. I would definitely recommend and use Sherlock in the future.
The service is excellent. Got a next day appointment for an a/c unit that went out. They stayed in touch with us from an afternoon window to a call in the morning saying the tech would be there at noon. John was professional & courteous. He put booties on to protect the wood floor. He spent 30 minutes examining everything from the attic to the outside unit. He is as very thorough and showed me pictures of what happened to this dead unit that was 15 years old. It's not fun when your A/c goes out in summer. The good news with repairs being very costly, they could install within 72 hours. This was a referral and I'm glad to know they are a family business. I highly recommend them. John was great.
Del and Morgan arrived promptly and were very nice. Did through inspection, but couldn't find my leak (in mainline). They were nice enough to point me in the right direction. I live on a hill and of course the main line is on the hill somewhere. Had a leak detection company come out, and they pinpointed it. Turns out my son can fix it! Another plumber had bid at least $7 -10K and it wouldn't have even fixed the problem!

Our technician, Cody Sapp, was great! Very experienced and definitely knows his job. He gave us pricing for work that needs to be done. Was very helpful with the information we needed to make a decision as to which way to go with the work. ( we had 3 options). I would highly recommend this company!

This company is great. they really work with you all through finding what is wrong. They go the extra mile to fix it right. the technician ( Joshua ) was great. Very skilled , attention to detail. H was professional and personable.
Had a slow moving kitchen sink, then it finally stopped completely. Had seen Sherlock in the hood before; now I know why. Excellent customer service, texted every move, reasonable rates. Del, the tech, was very cool; relayed every move to me for my approval. No surprises. From Kacey in the office, to Del the tech; personable, professional; highly recommended!
I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS COMPANY... They did not show up to fix my furnace ... rescheduled me for 5 days later.. terrible. call another company they were there the next day.

Unfortunately the schedulers lie to you about what you are getting. I called asking cost to come out amd perform annual maintenance on our water heater, ac, furnace and got a quote. Came to find out once the tech arrived the fee is just for them to show up, NOTHING else. Ridiculous.
I was very impressed with the professionalism of this company from our very first exchange on Yelp. Once we were on the phone together, they were extremely thorough and transparent about the price. When I set up my appointment they contacted me through text to say the technician would follow up with an estimate of when they would be out. Upon that text, I received a picture of the technician with a link to his bio! They sent an email about their Covid practices to be on the side of caution and the guy was very professional and again very transparent about the quote before he got started checking our gas line. We will be in touch again if we need a plumber!

Called Labor day and left a message, my A/C has failed. They returned my call the next day and the customer service person was proffesioal and set up an appt.. The tech that arrived was very personable, neat and clean. After 1 hour and 30 minutes was unable to pin down the problem. At randon he replaced the capacitor and contactor and the unit worked. Havining several years experiance with electrical products I inspected the capacitor and could not see what would be the NORMAL indications of a bad capacitor. I asked the tech to replace the old capacitor and the A/C worked fine. My bad, I did not ask him to do the same with the contactor. Our bill $430 (have not recieved the receipt as promised). I looke up the cost of the contactor $18. I would say a bit of a rip-off. I would say $99 for the service call and maybe 200-300% mark-up on the part, $60, would be reasonable.
Delfino came out and determined our water heater, which was purchased 3 years ago at Home Depot, had malfunctioned and told me it should be replaced by contacting Home Depot. He'd seen the problem with the venting on the Rheem water heaters before. I took it in and got a replacement (without the venting mechanism) and managed to get most of it reconnected. Called Delfino to come back out and complete the job. Works great now. Sherlock was quick and professional.

There were so many things wrong with this experience, so I'm going to net out the major ones:
The first technician they sent out to repair my 15 year old air conditioner and after a diagnostic and $480 in parts said they would need to replace the motor which was hard to find and would end up costing about the same to replace it Given the unit was old, I went with their proposal for a new unit, stating I lived in an historic Mills Act home and that the city was very difficult with permits on anything that can be seen from street view. They said no problem and that they dealt with Mills Act homes all the time and would take care of it.
I later received several emails with quotes (all misspelt, so they needed to be corrected) and even more reminding me to e-sign the quote and leave my deposit for the down-payment; probably 20 in the span of 2 days. One of them had apply your past invoice as a down payment! as the subject. Then began the phone calls; I was traveling overseas and got about 3 a day until I finally picked up and was asked why I had not e-signed the documents so they could proceed. I replied I was traveling and wouldn't be back for a month, but if they wanted to schedule that far in advance we could do so now. The rep replied, sure! We just need your 10% down payment. I stated I'd like to go ahead and use my past invoice towards the down payment, to which the rep replied immediately, oh, we don't do that. I responded, are you sure? I literally received an email saying apply your past invoice as a down payment! You might want to check with your supervisors. Just send me an email once you get everything sorted out. Within an hour I got an email from her saying We're sorry for the MISCOMMUNICATION, we'll do you a one time courtesy of applying your past invoice to the down payment. Seriously? This just underscores the level of people they have working there.
Lastly, when the tech's finally came over for the installation, it was a VERY different plan than had been discussed (i.e. literally wanting to run PVC pipe from my roof down the wall of my house to let gravity do all the work as the tech put it). As an engineer, this looked VERY unskilled and amateuristic, and I was 100% certain the city would never allow it. So, I told them to hold-off while I called their Mgr to ensure we were on the same page. When I got ahold of Jeff, I learned they had NOT PULLED A PERMIT at all from the city (Jeff said, It's not uncommon for us to pull the permit AFTER the job...since we always do perfect work). FINAL RED FLAG.
I told them there is no way we could proceed unless we had the permit as I stated very clearly the city would need to approve ALL visible additions to a Mills Act House, and stopped the project there. Bottom-line, I called for a second opinion and spoke to Carini Heating, Air and Plumbing; they came out, did the inspection, gave me a full quote at literally $2000 LESS, but then asked why don't you just want to replace the motor? They're easy to find and we could do the job by the end of the week... Wow. Given this option to completely by-pass the city permit process, I opted just to fix the existing unit and ended up spending $9000 LESS than I would have with Sherlock; if you've read this far, the choice is a no-brainer. ALWAYS get a second opinion and NEVER go with Sherlock if you can avoid it.

This is the second review I am making regarding our service from Sherlock Plumbing, Heating & Air. I deleted the first review as the rating was poor and I didn't want it to be reflective of their rating as they have went above and beyond to make it right.
Sherlock put in our Lennox HVAC system five years ago, and they did a stellar job. Very thorough and beautiful duct work and vents were installed. The installers and the technicians are very nice and pleasant to work with. They really make sure you as a consumer understand what they are doing.
I think it's important to acknowledge Rachel who is a customer service representative. She is the perfect person to have in her position as she is very attentive and responsive. She does all she can to get you the answers to any questions or concerns that come up.
Serena who works in management also does an excellent job, and makes you feel heard as a customer. She took the time to reach out to my husband and I personally and make things more accommodating for us. Her commitment to making sure customers are satisfied is admirable, and I really appreciated the extra mile she went for us.
All things considered, Sherlock is a great business. They want their customers to be happy with their work, and that really shows. My husband and I will continue to give them our business, and continue to recommend them to our friends and family!
Ask for Kyle! He came out for a system check and thermostat installation and he was extremely knowledgeable, comfortably personable, and very trustworthy. Kyle is our new go-to HVAC guy! Very happy to have found him and this company. Also, Bob at the calling center/office helped to schedule us the next day and walked me through the services offered and what to expect on the day of service.
On June 10th Eric came to complete our regular inspection. He noticed our unit needed a few repairs and asked if i would consider scheduling an appointment with a comfort consultant for a complete inspection.
Comfort Consultant, Neil Nath came on June 17th and was excellent! We discussed the repairs needed and wrote up 3 estimates. He was sensitive to our fixed income status and divided the entire job into segments that fit into our budget. His estimate was honored when we scheduled the work. We appreciate his thoroughness and patience.
October 4th, Victor, Anthony and Jesus did an excellent job replacing the evaporation coil and all of the upstairs ducts. They even placed our outside
condenser on a more stable base which was not included in the estimate. The technicians were punctual, courteous , efficient and very neat!! Our AC was up and running in no time! We are VIP members and highly recommend Sherlock Plumbing , Heating and Air.
Called in for a service call for my heat pump which started only blowing hot air. Sales rep Bob called me an assured me someone would call me in the afternoon and come by later in the day to repair. I explained to Bob I am going out of town and have someone staying over to pet sit and I have an elderly dog that overheats and need to be sure someone will come out. No problem Bob said.
Get a text at 120 stating their techs are too busy to come out.
Do not trust a company like this, they do not value your time and keep their word
Edit, changing to five starts. Sherlock ended up coming out after customer service supervisor learned of the situation. Came after hours and got everything up and running. I was impressed with this customer friendly approach and decided to get the maintenance plan from them

Sherlocks wants $49 to come out and give an estimate. What kind of sucker pays first to discover what they will get charged for later? Ridiculous. Providing a free up-front honest estimate should be the cost of doing business. Plenty of other plumbers don't try leveraging customers in this fashion.

Sherlock was referred to me by my neighbor. They were professional and polite on the phone, and we were able to get an appointment quickly. Derrick was also timely, professional, and thorough. My only complaint is the cost. I suspected and Derrick confirmed that the capacitor in my AC unit failed, and he replaced it (a $15 part) in about 20 minutes and followed with a thorough inspection of the entire HVAC system which took another 20-25 minutes. $331 for the entire service feels on the high side. (My neighbor told me they had a the same inspection plus a freon recharge and only paid $220.) I am happy to have found a reliable contractor, but will definitely get additional quotes before calling them out in the future.

I had an issue with Sherlock Plumbing and originally gave them a one star review. After Rachel from customer service contacted me and we discussed the situation, all has been resolved to my satisfaction. Had I spoken with Rachel the same day I originally called Sherlock, my review would have been more complementary. Thank you Rachel, you are an asset to the company.
I recently had a shut-off valve replaced, as well as valves under sinks. The work was done well and the service was good. The bill was $2,000. When I asked them to provide a detailed invoice breaking out parts and labor, they said they don't bill like that. I think it's a fair question to see what you're paying for. For that reason I do not recommend Sherlock Plumbing.
Last week I had a new A/C and Furnace unit installed. The entire process was a great experience! Joe came out for a quote a few days after I called them. He was very professional and explained in great detail what my home needed to serve our needs. He did not try to up-sell us in anything we did not need. His sincerity and honesty along with the project cost is what led us to choose Sherlock after having received three quotes from other vendors.
The day of the installation Victor and Jesus showed up right on time and proceeded to prepare our home for the install. They were very careful in covering up our floors, greatly appreciated, and did an excellent job installing our new A/C and Furnace. At the end Victor showed us all the available setting of our new Nest thermostat to help us be as cost efficient as possible.
Like I said before, Sherlock provided us with a reasonable price and a great experience. I definitely recommend them 100%!
My wife and I went to Costco to get a new HVAC system because ours was not working and completely useless. We scheduled a consultation with Costco whom then farmed our job request to Sherlock Plumbing, Heating and Air and met with Curtis who was knowledgeable, professional and super courteous. We found out we had a heater that was outlawed because it was prone to starting fires on roofs and our air conditioning was using illegal coolant. We decided on what to select based on many of the options Curtis outlined. Then we scheduled a time for the work to start quickly after some back and forth emails.
We received the most professional, hard working service from Lead Gred who is super knowledgeable, apprentice Tony who is super technically adept and apprentice Miguel who was a very nice guy willing to learn from his coworkers expertise. All 3 came to work early, happy with a smile and always stopped to chat a little during the long days they worked and they were some of the nicest people I've ever met. I highly recommend asking for all three of them if you get your HVAC system done from Sherlock via Costco. Or better yet just go directly to Sherlock Plumbing, Heating and Air for all your plumbing, air or heater needs. You will not be disappointed.
We didn't end up going with this company.. but they did provide white glove service from start to finish. Our heater broke during the prior winter. They set up an appt quickly.. and sent someone out to evaluate at cost. (You pay for the consult and - if you decide to go with them - they deduct from the overall quote.) In the end, we felt the quote was a bit on the higher end.. but the evaluation did provide a spectrum of options.
There was great email communication.. automated.. but nonetheless detailed with photos of the individual we would meet, etc. The individual reviewing the unit didn't seem completely knowledgeable (since we cross checked and received a second opinion).. but knew enough to identify some issues. They seemed conservative in their solutions to replace the entire system since ours was a bit dated.. which in the end could have translated into cost savings.. but we weren't ready for a complete redo of HVAC. They tried to sell us on throwing in an additional unit since there was a sale.. which I will chalk up to strong marketing.. but precariously on the edge of being a bit too aggressive.
I would recommend them for the communication, top of the line products, broad solutions.. and relatively nice guys that came out to help us.
I recently had Jeff and Cody from Sherlock come out to fix a problem with my air conditioner. They identified the problem (which was caused by the original installation) and came up with a solution that not only fixed the problem but was fair and reasonable. The fix wasn't easy and they left with a few battle scars. I appreciate all the work they did. It was definitely above and beyond. Thank you Jeff and Cody!

Sherlock installed our air conditioning last year and we couldn't be happier. They were patient while we went back and forth for months on the particular unit and bid. The crew who came out were polite and professional and even found ways to improve our ductwork so our whole HVAC system operates better. They recently came back to do a follow up inspection and their technician was equally skilled and had great customer service skills. I can't recommend them highly enough.
Installed our new google next thermostat and was very polite and helpful. Will be using them again.
My 20-year-old rooftop HVAC package unit needed replacement. I solicited 4 bids from HVAC contractors. Sherlock was the second lowest bidder, but I selected them anyway based on Yelp and Google reviews, as well as the obvious technical expertise of their salesperson, Josh Thompson.
During the contract negotiation, it came to light that Sherlock's initial bid did not include a custom curb adapter that was required for a proper job. Also, the initial bid did not include an extended 10-year warranty on labor, which I later decided that I wanted. These changes in the scope of work required a further negotiation to adjust the bid price. Sherlock's Thompson was a tough negotiator, but after some back and forth, we agreed on a new price acceptable to both parties.
My new HVAC unit was installed earlier this week, on Tuesday 1/18/22. Since the HVAC unit is located on the roof of my 3-story house, and the house is in a densely populated part of San Diego, everything had to be carefully coordinated: Delivery of the new unit; arrival and setup of a hydraulic truck crane; and arrival of Sherlock's crew. Sherlock's Install Coordinator, Trinity, set it all up, and it all happened on time, just like clockwork. I have some construction experience, and I was very impressed.
Furthermore, Sherlock's installation team, Victor and his assistant Nick, are highly skilled, friendly, and efficient. They took great care to protect my house, and they kept me informed.
One issue came up the next day: The thermostat was defective. I called Sherlock and they sent Victor to replace it the same day.
Based on my experience with Sherlock so far, I highly recommend them for HVAC work.
I called Sherlock Plumbing because we were having problems with the water draining out of our washing machine. Apparently the drain was blocked and needed to be cleared by a professional plumber. I had heard positive reviews from friends concerning Sherlock, but this was the first time that we used Sherlock Plumbing. I called on a Monday asking if we could get a plumber here as soon as possible. Sherlock Plumbing was able to get a plumber here the very next day and I was thrilled. We have had a lot of different plumbers over the years and I have to say I was very impressed with Sherlock. First, our plumber Josh, surveyed the problem and he presented me with a couple of options. Josh took his time and explained how he was going to complete the work and he also gave me several hints on what to do and what not to do as far as our plumbing goes. There were a couple of snafus along the way but that was a problem with the pipe, not the plumber. Josh, the plumber did a first rate job and all the time he communicated with me and was incredibly pleasant to deal with. I know we will be using Sherlock Plumbing again.
Yesterday I contacted Sherlock and spoke to Rachel, manager, about my a/c blowing only warm air. I've been a Sherlock VIP member since 2020 and was hoping for help in a desperate situation as out-of-town guests were due that evening and the house was stuffy and warm. Rachel analyzed my situation and suggested installers, Josh and Wade, as they had a break in their busy schedule and could swing by to take a look. Long-story-short, Josh and Wade arrived within the hour, and found and corrected the problem. There was a missing disconnect unit which prevented the condenser from operating. They also determined that my air filter was the wrong size and therefore was not effectively preventing dust and other pollutants from flowing through the system. In addition to fixing those items, they added a vent-tube to my overall system ensuring better safety next to my furnace. Josh and Wade were professional, courteous, and extremely competent. Before they left, they made sure the a/c was purring and in optimal condition. I could not be happier; they saved the day. Thank you Rachel, Josh, and Wade. Count me in your VIP membership for years and years to come.
SHERLOCK HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING did Fantastic job on my AC unit. Jonathan,super Knowledgeable and friendly,the technician who came to my house did a Amazing job troubleshooting my ac issue OR issues.Would recommend this company and Jonathan too.
Heat is restored! An appointment was scheduled on 12/15 for the following day which was a Friday. The technician, Will, arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the issue which required a special order part, with delivery expected the next week. I was notified Monday afternoon that the part had arrived and the technician was scheduled for Tuesday am. My scheduled appointment was delayed due to a technician out sick but the office staff quickly scheduled another tech, Cody, who arrived a couple of hours later, The part when unpackaged was found to be broken. Fortunately, they had ordered a duplicate. Cody was back in 30 minutes and fixed the furnace within a few minutes. There was an issue where my $50 deposit paid on the first visit was not applied to my account correctly by the office, which I was notified of on Monday. I confirmed that my payment was processed on 12/16 and paid, although Sherlock had no record. I think they have sorted this out. The team's service was professional and courteous. Our shower broke while I was out of town. Sherlock was very responsive, and Kyle quickly made his way to our house. Everything was smooth sailing once he was on scene. Thorough investigation and diagnosis of what went wrong, came up with a clear plan of action, and provided a very reasonable quote. Kyle was able to methodically and efficiently repair our shower so that it will not cause us any problems again.

It is evident what kind of experience you're going to have with this company from the first phone call. Highly trained, personable and responsive to our concerns. Let's face it, you're almost always calling them with concerns. They had someone out very quickly, did the job, worked to save us money. I instantly could tell that they were trustworthy and knew what they were doing. Highly recommend Sherlock!
I used them to install an air/heating system. They did a good Job. HOWEVER their quotes for service are outrageous. They wanted $249 for a $50
Filter and $700 to clean the coils. The competitor did both for $ 175 ( Johnson air) .

It was so good to see Josh again, such a knowledgeable and delightful young man. He responded to a call about a blinking light (yeah I know....go figure) but hey, when you know nothing about a heater, smell propane and see a blinking red light, you Call the man. He services the heater found them source of the blinker and actually saved our lives by tightening a loosened valve from the hot water heater that had been worked on by a plumber two weeks ago. Josh and his trusty spray bottle discovered the leak and fixed the valve. We are completely indebted to him and Sherlock Plumbing. We love you.
Solid all in all. Paul Iden and Nate Shea were very helpful and informative in providing free estimates. Setup through Costco which has numerous perks. Ending price matched estimate and they were positive in working with me in making our new system work out, price wise and install wise. Tony's team installed over two days and they were extremely friendly and respectful and did good work. Was expensive, and a bit higher then other companies, buy Happy with everything

I originally asked for a quote from Costco for an AC. They sent out Mauzy, a local dealer. They quoted me all different kinds of quotes, and their communication was very lacking. When I had questions, the seemed like I was bothering them. I even agreed to a deal over emails, and no-one got back to me to start the work. So I reached out to another dealer locally, and it was Sherlock and asked them for a quote to see if anyone would give me better service.
Sherlock gave me a written quote with more detail of the work that would be done than Mauzy did, they also quoted me a lower price. Neil was the man when it came to getting me the system I wanted, and his manager Jeff both communicated with me answering all my questions, and knowing what I wanted. We agreed to a deal on a nice Lennox system.
The next day I had Eric, Cesar and Tony at my house installing a new furnace, AC system, ducting and copper. Basically a whole new system from ground up. Everyone I met or spoke to did an amazing job. Their attention to detail blew me away. It is the cleanest job I have ever seen. You can see they take pride in their work and don't settle for mediocracy.
Thank you to the whole team at Sherlock. Already running the system, it is exactly what we were looking for.

Raise your hand if you start to panic when you type in plumbing repair on Yelp...I do. Finding a good plumber can be cumbersome and could leave you with thousands of dollars down the drain..no pun intended. Our washing machine drain pipe had a major spout leak and we had been putting it off solely for the reason of having to find a plumber and spend tons of money. I scoured Yelp to find one decent and Sherlock popped up as most recommended and almost 5 stars. Well here's hopefully for the 5th star. Immediately their front office called to ask more about the situation and find a time that worked best for me. They were honest about their consultation price policy and that is huge with plumbing/electrical companies now a days. Kyle from Sherlock came out and was super respectful and listened to me rattle on about what I thought was the issue. He quickly realized that he would need a camera scope to see inside the drains and immediately got on the phone with the home office to have one out here. He zoomed back to grab it and was back in 30min. Talk about efficient and not wasting anyones time. He scoped the pipes and even brought me out so I could see the DISGUSTING sludge that had built up over the years down almost 50ft of pipe to our main line. While most plumbers would've swindled me out of money and said just snake it, Kyle made an awesome judgment call and said that snaking would only make the issue worse and might not even fix the problem. Instead he suggested hydro jetting which would be way more efficient in cleaning everything out + less dangerous to our old pipes. I was sold on his solution just from him not trying to get money out of me and instead being honest about what he thinks is the better option. THATS CALLED AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE. Next day he came out with the hydro jet and within an hour had our pipes cleaned out and even tested the water flow too. Plumbing is always finicky and because of our older house and underlying problems there might be more work to be done...trial and error at this point. But Kyle quickly got me another quote on what the further work MIGHT be and gave me his card to call if things ever got worse. I like having an awesome plumbing company in my back pocket to help fix anything but also that already has an idea of what's going on. It's like going back to your same hair dresser, it just makes sense haha
Needless to say, trust Sherlock and don't be afraid of plumbing when it comes to them. Their team was knowledgeable, friendly and very quick and efficient.
I'm torn on this as it's a matter of principle for me as a consumer. I am very happy with the service I received and the technician was great and all things being equal I would recommend them to anyone.
Here's my issue. My downstairs A/C wasn't blowing cold air, thus the request for repair. Upon inspection, it was determined a single part was defective and in need of replacement. I was given a quote of $550 to replace two identical parts (one on each unit) as my other unit was in the same condition. I looked up the identical part on the Internet and each part was approx $25 each.
Here's my issue. I understand service isn't cheap and this industry is demand driven but I honestly feel I was taken advantage of. Aside from the $99 service call which was waived because I agreed to the repair, the parts were probably around $50, so the labor for an hour of work was $500?
Again, I understand the concept of service but this was just simply excessive. I'm sure this may be industry standard but what other option do you have? If you refused the work then you pay the $100 regardless.
Anyways, my AC is working so I'm happy about that but let's be real, I'm not that happy about the price. Seriously, $500 to replace two fuse type parts that took about 10 minutes each? I'm not looking for anything free, but what you are at their mercy.
I Recommend them for their skill and professionalism but buyer be ware about the cost. I guess that's why there are in business.

Very pricey quotes for plumbing, compared to competitor we found on HomeAdvisor. We paid $49 just to get the quote from Sherlock, which could be applied to any of the work that was quoted. This seemed reasonable, as I'd assume they would still try to be competitive to earn our significant ($1K+) business. But in the end, for us it was a waste of time and $49.
For each of the 3 of the jobs, their quote was $58-149+ more than the competitor.
First issue: Inconvenient: you need to block off an entire day to get the initial quote. I called to schedule an appointment for an in-person quote. They could not commit to coming the next day prior to 10am in case an emergency came up. The courteous gal on the phone said that we could plan for a specific date the next week, but not a time window (not even morning vs afternoon). On the day that they were scheduled to come out, they would let us know by 9am what time frame they would be able to come.
Second issue: the pricing. We had 3 jobs, including a standard change out a leaking under-sink garbage disposal. The total for all 3 jobs which included a new toilet from the competitor was $1175. The quote for the three jobs which did not include a new toilet from Sherlock was $1301.27. So it was $125 more plus the cost of a new toilet (likely another $200).
One specific example: to change out the garbage disposal, they charge a flat rate of $399. The other guy quoted $250. We had heard that the going rate is usually between $250-350.
The receptionist and the plumber were both very professional and the plumber took his time and seemed knowledgeable, but not more so than the competitor.

If they did not install your unit. They will NOT service it.
Can't argue with that. Can't tell me it's not a customer experience. I approach them based on their advertisement, give them the facts that a recently installed unit is not working after 1 season.
Their answer to me was, after looking in our records .. we have no record of you .. we do not service what we did not install
If the purpose of reviews here is to only support those who have actually spent money, then that's pretty biased. I'm trying to save someone the hassle of bothering with it since they're not going to service it if they did not install it.
...and let's not play the fine print game. That's a cop out.
My other review stated all that, and had one other commentary bit that was much less than the whole weight of the review and in and of that issue itself, does NOT change the fact that, once again, they won't service what they did not install

I called Sherlock to service an old HVAC and they were honest about the condition of the unit and didn't think it was ethical to take money on a unit that needed to be replaced, a rare quality in todays landscape of HVAC companies. Months down the road I had a new unit installed by another company because they were less expensive... unfortunately you get what you pay for. I called Sherlock and asked them to come out and troubleshoot... they solved all the issues. I would never consider working with another company after all the great service they performed from customer service, to the technician and sales team that is in place. The staff is ethical, professional and well trained... I highly recommend them.
I had high hopes from the reviews but was very disappointed. The two people who came out were friendly and professional. They diagnosed the problem with our ac unit- could not turn on, older so probably not worth the cost to repair (which I agree), basically just toast. The quoted me pretty high for a new ac unit and said I'd get a discount if I said yes that day. We felt pressured, especially when we are looking at that amount of money so I said no. They extended the offer two days. I felt a little weird about how they were pushing but thought maybe that's just how it goes. They assured me the quote was average and i would only find lower with an unreliable small start up type company.
I decided to get another opinion (a larger more well known company) even though it meant waiting in a very hot house with a baby and toddler during a heat wave. The other company came out and was surprised I was told it wouldn't turn on. I literally watched him flip a switch and the ac popped on. Nice and icy cold air immediately filled our house... Okay, I get you want me to buy a new unit (and it's very close to being time, sure) but at least have the common decency to leave us with the ac on of it works. Especially during this heat wave. With small children up all night sweating. Really?? I did ask if what he did was a pretty common or easy fix and he said yeah that's one of the first things you check generally.
The other company did not pressure me at all and said while the unit is older and we definitely want to prepare ourselves to buy a new one in the coming years, it's perfectly capable to keep going. They offered a quote and said the other option is to drive it until the wheels fall off and said that was a perfectly reasonable choice. I asked for the quote just to know how much we will be spending (whether now or in a year or two) abs the difference for the comparable option was significant.
I hate to leave a bad review especially when the people who came out were so friendly... but I can't help but to feel very much like they tried to cheat us. They blatantly lied (or at best didn't recognize a very common issue). I would never have them back to our home and I would never recommend them.
They are great. Techs are very friendly and knowledgeable. A/C system wouldn't turn on. John was great. Took the time to explain the issue to me and was able to have everything repaired and working within and hour. Would recommend them.

Sherlock was wonderful, from the initial phone call, to completion. Everyone was professional, competent, Covid safety protocols observed, and excellent clean up, disposal of old equipment, and training us in using the new thermostats.
Billy is outstanding. He never stops working, and is so dedicated to making sure the job is well done, and that everything is done to his very high standards. A remarkable person!
Our new equipment is efficient, so quiet, and easy to operate even from my phone .

I want to share with anyone reading this review about experiences I have had with Sherlock Heating and Air. Let me begin by saying that all of their technicians are respectful and pleasant. A few years ago the company installed mini-split air conditioning systems in our home to the cost of many thousands. Recently, when the one of the systems stopped working I was told, by a Sherlock technician, that the system they installed was inferior and the inferior system would now cost me $4500 to replace a solenoid on the entire system. This experience was followed by Sherlock plumbers replacing 3 flaps in 3 toilet tanks, cost was $600. A water purifying system under our kitchen sink, I was told would need 4 filters changed every 6 months. I thought I could change them and agreed to the installation. I realized that it was more complicated than originally thought. Yesterday one of their technicians told me the cost would be $1100---every 6 months! After complaining about that cost the technician quoted a price of $387. I was shocked!! Do you think $673 would have been returned to me if I had been stupid enough to agree? If you do not mind grossly overpaying, call Sherlock Heating and Air.

I had an appointment with Sherlock for 4:00pm yesterday but they re-scheduled for today because they were so busy. As it turned out that was a good thing because Jonathan would have been working in the dark. This morning Jonathan showed up on time and diagnosed the problems with my A/C unit and thermostat. Jonathan left briefly to get the parts he needed, then he returned and repaired our A/C unit and replaced our thermostat. We will call Sherlock again.

We just turned on our AC system after not having used it all winter and were facing a foul 'stinky sock' smell which was pretty mortifying. We have guests arriving in a few days. Called Sherlock and they had someone out here the next day to clean the evaporator coil. Jonathan diagnosed the problem and they were able to save the day for us. Signed up for their annual service/maintenance program to hopefully avoid this happening again in the future.

We went through COSTCO for our HVAC. Sherlock showed up and our guy, Vincent, was amazing (we'd give him five stars). Our HVAC was installed in August. Everything seemed to be ok. However they had to cut the opening in our closet ceiling to get the system installed. They stayed they'd repair it. No biggie. We are now at the end of January and it's still not repaired anD now DDaisy and the manager is stating it's in the conntrsct that drywall repairs at re not authorized. Hmmm it took you this long to say this considering we've spoken at lEast a half dozen times regarding this matter???
Let's talk about the HVAC final permit from the City of San Diego. The City showed up to do the inspection but informed us that Sherlock was responsible for providing the ladder ((at least six feet) to go into the attic. So we called Sherlock and they argued with the indpec stating they didn't have the manpower to bring one over & they wantEd proof that the contractor was responsible for it. The inspector got upset with them and said to look in the e City guidelines.
If I had to do this over I'd not go through this company. We spent $14k on an HVAC day system only to have this type of customer service.
I'll be contacting COSTCO to let them know what type of contractors in the store is representing them.

Last fall not 2021 but 2020, our furnace broke. This was right in the middle of of Covid. We called several servicing companies and nobody even answered our phone calls. This year we had a lot more luck. I called Sherlock plumbing heating and they sent out Josh Thompson. I found Josh Thompson be a very knowledgeable and friendly service technician. I could communicate with him very easily and he quickly found the problem. The problem was not with our furnace but with the ground that attaches to it through our wiring system. He explained this to me and As I am kind of handy, I was able to repair the problem myself. If it wasn't for the ease of talking to Josh Thompson and understanding what was going on, I would not have been able to do so. I really liked him and I would highly recommend this company to others.
Amazing job, came fast and friendly service. Would always recommend them to friends and my dear family.
Duct system was over 30 years old. Spoke with Nate and got a great quote. Guys came out the next day led by Dylin (7 altogether) and got the job done. They were friendly, clean, thorough and worked extremely well together as a team. Couldn't be happier with cost, work and timing. Definitely recommend Sherlock if you need anything in their line of work.

Dylan and Jesus (along with their colleague Victor for 1 day) installed a new central air system, and they were in and out in two days, working around some client meetings that I needed quiet for, and keeping up a great workflow and attitude the whole time. I interviewed a couple of other companies, and Nate, the sales officer who came out, gave me a better impression from the start. The follow through did not disappoint. Great job, and thank you to the whole team.
It's a rarity to find a company that really walks the talk when it comes to customer service and satisfaction but I'm pleased to say that Sherlock has stepped up and made things right with me. I'm truly impressed with the way they came around to keep me whole on the matter I initially wrote about and I will certainly go back with them after the commitment they've shown to rectify the situation I had with them. While I still believe there was a mistake made, I also recognize we all make mistakes and I believe Sherlock showed a lot of integrity to resolve the matter. I retract the negative review I left earlier and wish to thank Rachel and the Sherlock organization for its fairness and professionalism.
We're adding A/C to our home in Carlsbad and we called Sherlock to come out, look around, and give us an estimate. They were very friendly, professional, and thorough. They gave us three estimates at three price-points, which they explained well. We finally decided on a different company but Sherlock was in the final two. The other company had only nice things to say about Sherlock. Oh, and Sherlock is family-owned and has been in Vista for a long time. They seem like a fine company.

Reached out to ask about HVAC/Furnace tune-up, water heater, and another plumbing concern.
TLDR version: Sherlock and Nick C. were great and stay communicated with us the process, prices, and information/solutions.
Sherlock was speedy in responding to my interest in a quote. Bob over the phone was upfront about the process and charges before proceeding. Dispatch called and communicated that they were sending Nick C. to address our concerns.
Nick arrived a little bit passed time of ETA. He was professional and approachable. I suspected a leak from HVAC system but was not sure, and he found it was the furnace, which ended up being an easy fix. While evaluating the integrity of the system as part of tune-up, he took the time and effort to thoroughly review what he was doing and to answer my questions. Very thankful that he gave us tips to continue to maintain the system.
He addressed all our concerns and informed us it was time to replace the water heater. He gave us a quote quickly on the spot and his recommendations. I'm sure we could've shopped around to find other quotes before deciding. We were pleased with Nick's expertise and professionalism, and especially that he was going to return another day to work on the replacement, so we proceeded with Sherlock's quote.
On appointment day for the replacement, I called to ask about ETA because I had to multitask several situations, and Sherlock promptly responded to me. Nick arrived on time and got started right away. Within a few hours, the new water heater is working. Before leaving, he reviewed the different parts of the water heater.
Deeply appreciated Nick's professionalism and expertise!
We purchased a home that never had air conditioners. The house is only ten years old and had been piped for air conditioning. Because of the size of the house, we needed 2 systems. I scheduled several companies to come out for estimates. When Justin Freeman came in from Sherlock, I didn't feel insulted for being given generic childish answers as I had from several of the other companies that saw a woman and didn't think I could comprehend the lingo. Justin was very respectful and professional. He met my husband but knew that the one making the decision would be me. He explained all the scenarios and I felt more confident about going with Sherlock. I felt so confident that I decided to have them put in a new heating system as well.
As I travel for work quite a bit, I had to schedule the installation few weeks later. On the day of, although it was cold and raining; the guys showed on at 8am as promised. As they came in, they introduced themselves one by one.

These guys were super nice and professional. I explained that my dog is afraid of certain beeps and they made sure to not use anything that caused much sound. They covered my floors and wore surgical booties over their shoes as they came in (every single time). Justin came in on day one to make sure all was going well. By the end of the day, the guys were able to put in the heating in the attic and the a/c units outside. For some reason one of the a/c units wasn't working. Chad informed me that there's probably a leak in the piping. At that point, I received a call from Justin that the guys would be back tomorrow to finish the job. He told me that these things happen from time to time and that it will be resolved by the end of following day.
I woke up early thinking that the guys would be there in the morning. 8am...nothing...9am...still no one...10am...I'm getting irritated (I'm a very punctual person who gets super insulted when someone is late)
I call the office and it's an answering machine for two hours.
Finally around 1245pm, Geoff calls me back. He informed me that the guys are supposed to be there the following day. At this point I'm beyond angry because I have meetings with my clients the following day and I hate looking like a flake!
Being angry, I sent a text to Justin right after I hung up with Geoff. Justin returned my call at 5pm because he had a super busy day. Not the excuse I wanted to hear when I'm that upset.
Finally the following day comes...
Chad and Aaron come in and they try to find the leak but no luck. Someone at the office sends a manager couple of hours later. Can't recall his name but one thing that I hate is for someone who tells me what to do and how his way is the only way. I don't know how he has that job because he screwed up the schedule and doesn't have any customer service skills. He tells me that the two options are for the guys to open the wall to find the leak or for them to add aluminum box running from the ground to the roof with new copper piping. That he would have it painted same color as my home. Tells me to call the HOA and that will be the best option. As he's done barking out orders and is about to leave, tells me that he'll get me a quote for the additional service. I left a message for the HOA but thought about it. I don't want an ugly aluminum box going up on the side of my house regardless of what this guy thinks is the best. After paying around 20G, I am not interested in paying even a penny more.
Clearly, Aaron and Chad knew I was upset (I'm very expressive). They told me that they called the company and explained what I want done. They calmly explained that they had a great guy that they work with who can patch the wall after they find the leak. That way, once it's complete, there's no trace of the wall being opened. Later that day, I got a call from Justin who gave me the information for Top to Bottom Construction. I left a message for Roy on Friday. He came to give the estimate on Sunday when I was out of town. We reached a deal on Monday and contacted Geoff at Sherlock to schedule the last phase.
I was so thankful and comforted when I saw that I got Aaron and Chad again. These guys really know what they're doing and have the best customer service skills! Honestly, if I were running Sherlock, Chad Rossmiller would be the manager in charge of these guys. I'm a tough customer and they way he behaved and explained everything really calmed me and reassured me that I made the right choice by going with Sherlock.
Great experience from beginning to the end. Very pleased with the whole process of getting a new heating and air conditioning unit. Highly recommend Sherlock!

A few years back (3 - 5 yrs ago) I had a new furnace installed by Sherlock Plumbing Heating & Air and was very pleased with the service and would definitely consider using them again if I ever needed my furnace or AC replaced (hopefully not too soon though). I was a slacker and didn't post a review about how pleased I was with them back then and unfortunately don't remember the technicians names to give them credit.
Yesterday I had Sherlock come out again for the Pre-season AC check to get ready for summer. The technican that came out was Nick Colantuono. He was great. Very thorough in his inspection, explained to me and my daughter exactly what he was doing and why. He even allowed us to watch when he opened the actual AC unit up for the inspection. Explaining what something should look like and the different scenerios. What you should see and what you shouldn't. Pointed out a certain area that we'll want to keep clean from dust buildup, etc.
During his visit I happened to mention one the of the back bedrooms got very little heat or air. He took a look, while testing the AC, and immediately determined it was the type of vent cover and recommened another style, which would help. I've brought up this same issue to other companies in the past and they'd check the ducts, vents, etc and said nothing could be done. Nick took 10 seconds to point out the problem. Thanks Nick!!

I have not yet used Sherlock Plumbing, Heating, and Air, but will definitely have them out next time I have an issue. I ordered a new washing machine and the hose that was delivered with it was not long enough. I found someone that could install the correct part, but did not hear from them day of.... Turns out his phone died. I was desperately calling around to find a plumber that could finish the installation. Most didn't reply or did not perform this service. I asked for quotes and Sherlock responded within minutes. I spoke to Bob, who was phenomenally awesome and got me an appointment for the next day. He was great to work with and to talk to. He quickly explained how the process works to request the many services they offer. The gent that was originally going to install, got in contact later in the day that we had scheduled for and was able to make it a few hours after our original appt. That was the only reason I have not yet used Sherlock, but after working with Bob, will definitely use their services the next time I need them. Thanks, Bob!

We had Sherlock out to give us a quote along with 5 other top rated HVAC companies in the county and this company blew everyone else out of the water....when it comes to PRICE. We were presented with the grand total of $22,967 to install central A/C and heat in a one story 1440 sq. ft. condo. Oh wait, after a $2,278 discount, it would only be $20,689. After picking my jaw up off the floor, all I could think was how ashamed this sales rep should be for working for a company who is out to price gouge potential customers. Sure, they might offer quality service and experience, but you can get quality service and experience for about 10,000 less, and WE DID.
Buyers beware, shop around and do your research, because clearly this company is out to make a very large profit at YOUR expense.
Our Payne furnace died a couple of years ago and we've survived by 'bundling up' during the last couple of winters. Every time it would get cold for a few days, it would warm back up and repairs seemed less urgent.
We finally remodeled our condo after 25+ years and raising two giant boys. It needed refreshing. Part of the process was replacing the furnace. We found Sherlock via Angie's List. They had strong recommendations. They contacted us promptly once Angie's List put out a 'request for service'. We made an appointment for later that day.
Their representative came out to the house, arrived promptly, and immediately put on booties to avoid dirtying our floors (even though we are in mid-remodel and there was no need. - This seemed to be policy for all of the companies save the one that we actually used).
He inspected the furnace, climbed into the attic to investigate the duct work (we got the same report back from all four representatives, so it's safe to assume that Nate from Sherlock knew what he was looking at).
He didn't try to oversell us with more BTU's than we needed, but did offer us options on furnaces (variable speed fans, etc). He was informative, well dressed, and a great people person.
However, their bid was between 167% and 210% higher than the other three proposals that we received for the same work (including permit and HERS testing).
It was the pricing model that made me assign them 3 stars on a Google review and why they are getting 3 stars here. Some 3 hours after posting the Google review, I got a call about the 3 star assignment. To me, 3 stars is average. The caller from Sherlock was concerned that I had been unhappy with the presentation. I assured him that the presentation was very professional and that he was an excellent representative. The 3 star assignment was based strictly on pricing and not personnel. Frankly, I would not have posted this if I hadn't gotten the call which seemed to want to throw the rep under the bus.
Get several bids. You'll learn a lot in the process. Like Rheem and Ruud are identical. Or that the transite pipe has asbestos in the cement coating.
Nic Colantuono saved the day. Moving into a home in Oceanside after moving from Denver, I found multiple problems in multiple units and appliances. Nic helped find a reasonably priced HV and AC unit and water heater. He repaired under the kitchen sink installing a garbage disposal and dishwasher with ease.
Mostly, Nic's enthusiastic and charismatic personality make him a pleasure to work with. Further, Sherlock's help through this whole mess has been considerate of the fact that I've had to replace so much in a house that I thought was good-to-go.
I highly recommend this company and Nic who has kindly installed and repaired so much in my home. Sherlock and Nic's reviews are mostly great, as they should be. Their service is guaranteed and they stand behind their work and workmanship. Great Company!

I called the Vista CA location and talked to Bob. Asked about getting my AC unit fixed, he tells me he can be out there tomorrow. I said ok great thanks, then I let him know Its a rental property and I am located out of state will that be a problem. He then asked me for my name then tells me they are not servicing rental properties right now due to short staffed. I was shocked cuz he just told me he can come out to my house tomorrow. I am a military spouse and this is truly ridiculous!! Poor customer service! And when we move back to CA I will never consider using these guys if we run into any issues!!!
Sherlock has always been very professional. Had a problem with my AC unit. I understand this happened during a hot spell and called for service. They told me the earliest they can come out was 4 days later. Scheduled visit and at 2:00 in afternoon of the appointment day I am called and said they need to reschedule. Earliest appointment was a week out, that was not really satisfactory for me nor up to their usual professionalism. Recognize its a hot spell but have to do better in communication and scheduling. If your earliest appointment was 2 weeks out just tell me that so I can find an AC company to come earlier.
Update: About half an hour after I cancelled the service, the company called, apologized, and offered to correct the problem. They sent another technician to my home after an hour and worked on the issue I have with my AC. Technician was professional, able to identify the problem. The owner was also present and talked to me about my bad experience earlier and was apologetic. I explained that I accommodated their first request to reschedule, and I expected that they deliver the next time. Anyway, technician acquired the part needed and returned later in the afternoon to install and fix the problem. In conclusion, the reason I am updating my review of this company is because of it's prompt action to address my complaint.

Original Review: Not recommended. Find other service providers. I set a schedule for service with them. I skipped work and waited for their technician to arrive at home, but they called later that day and requested to reschedule. I said ok and then we agreed to reschedule on another day and I said I am requesting that the technician arrive at around 11:00 AM because I have a meeting. They agreed. Around 9:30 AM that day I received a call but was not able to answer because I was in my meeting. After my meeting at around 10:30 AM, I noticed I have two voice messages. The second message is from the technician who said they are still on track. I right away returned the call, only for them to say that they sent the technician somewhere 'coz I did not answer my phone and I will have to wait till later in the afternoon! Shows that this company does not really care; no consideration at all that we are also at work; very unprofessional.

Derrick came out this morning right on time, and was able to diagnose the problem. He was very professional and capable in his knowledge.

We've been unsuccessfully trying to get a detailed breakdown (parts and labor) for our A/C repair invoice of $359.24. There is no cost breakdown in the invoice, only the single amount of $359.24. We've messaged them through their contact page, emailed, and called. No response except for the switchboard operator telling us that he didn't think it was their policy to provide that information, but would forward our request to a supervisor.
Our A/C stopped working on one of the hottest days of the summer. After an internet search, we called Sherlock based on their reviews. A technician came out five days later - I guess the heat filled their schedule. He inspected the A/C and told us we needed a new capacitor. He had the part with him and repaired the A/C. The air conditioner was working again. The total time he spent at our house was less than an hour.
The technician said he charged us half price for the capacitor kit - which was $80 retail online, which could mean that labor was over $300 per hour.
The technician was professional, explained the repair, and gave us an accurate estimate for the cost, which we agreed to in the heat of the moment.

I developed a leak in the coil of my 5yr (-2week) A/C and was having trouble getting going with a warranty repair. Sherlock recharged with a leak detector and provided a quote for repair if necessary. All the staff were very kind, attentive, and professional.
We did have a billing dispute for the service provided, however, when brought to their attention it was resolved by management within 2 hours. I have no complaint with technical or customer service. I would advise you to make sure there is an itemized written estimate you understand before proceeding to authorize service.

Thank you Levi! We had our water heater flushed for the first time, which apparently is supposed to be done regularly (I had no idea!). Our initial appointment did not work out (they had some emergency jobs whereas ours was a non-emergency) so we had to reschedule. They kept us informed and Levi was able to come out sooner than expected. The call beforehand is nice so you have an idea about their ETA.
We really appreciated the tips Levi gave us and that he took the time to show us what he was doing, and why. We learned a lot about water heaters today! Thank you for the honest work you do Levi!

I put a few feelers out there and asked that they respond with a text. Out of 5 companies that I sent out a request to, this is the only one that started communication via text, kind of on my terms. I really prefer it. Rachel was very courteous and I got a good feeling about the company right away. She contacted me in about 20 minutes and had someone at my house within an hour. I live in a remote-ish area and it wasn't even an emergency. I wanted a gas line tapped for a BBQ. Levi took a look at the job and needed a part, of which he didn't charge me for his time when he went to get it. He problem-solved, was conscientious, and got the work done quickly. I am impressed!
Really great company. Had them come out for an estimate on some duct work repair in our very tight crawl space. Neil promptly provided me with an estimate and we had a technician onsite within a few days to perform the work. The tech was great, very good communicating what would take place and did a fantastic job. Definitely would recommend Sherlock!

I called Sherlock to repair my heater, they charged me $99 just to look at it. Then the serviceman proceeded to say, you have to replace this part for 200, & this part for 700 before I can even tell you if I can fix it...very inadequate company and a bunch of thieves!!! Stay away from these people!!!
Sherlock reached out to me, refunded me the VIP Comfort package since they were unable to fulfill any portion related to plumbing.
I appreciate them working with me.
Previous work to install a hot water expansion tank was quick, reasonably priced, and the technician was professional.

This company is very professional and Neil is awesome to work with. Great follow up without being pushy, presented multiple options for a complete HVAC system and explained the differences in detail. I highly recommend that you get Sherlock in the mix for HVAC install, repair and the other services they offer!
Had Sherlock come out for a quote several months ago regarding a new air and cooling system but decided to go with another company. Fast forward, received an email regarding the services for Sherlock to introduce they are now providing services for plumbing and were offering a complimentary hot water heater flush. Scheduled the apt. with easy and requested an afternoon apt.
Me- Humm free, let's give them another shot.....
1:00 come and goes, I make a follow up call and was told - oh sorry we can't make it today but we can get you in next week.
Me- no thanks will take my business else where.
Lesson learned NOTHING is for free!
(Cost more $ to take off work to be home for them. )

Awesome experience with this co. I got four bids from different companies, and Curt was by far the most thorough, carefully explaining options, possible issues, and options. I was able to schedule the I stall for a brand new heater and AC system the week of thanksgiving. Jesse and Ricardo were the install guys and were super professional, courteous, and clean. They were careful when laying down carpet runners to prevent dirtying my floors when they went under my house. They also noticed and reported a bad leak in my sewer line, which need up being replaced a few days later (separate company), so they helped me out a lot by pointing out that problem! They had the system replaced and up & running in a day and a half! I was shocked for the size of the job and just two guys doing it.
I was able to run the AC a couple times during the remaining days of the fall heat wave, and it worked like a champ cooling down my house quickly. Now that the winter weather is finally here, my heater heats my house in minutes. MUCH faster than the archaic system I had. I absolutely love having the Nest system in place to schedule the heater to kick on before I get up in the morning.
I'd highly recommend them to anyone needing new a HVAC system!

Sherlock Plumbing Heating & Air is a top-notch company!! We had an awful experience with Anderson, and Sherlock came to our rescue. The original install by Anderson was done so poorly that they flooded our ceiling among other things.
Everyone we dealt with at Sherlock was very professional and takes their job seriously. I highly recommend them!! We feel extremely grateful to have found them as we had some potentially dangerous circumstances that could have happened without their expertise. Not only are they great to work with, but our safety is a major priority of them!

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in the summer of 2016. It was very hot that summer and our AC was broken. Every HVAC company I called was sympathetic, but they were too busy to help. Not Sherlock! They were just as busy as all their competitors, but they rearranged their schedule to install a new system before my wife's surgery. It was such a relief knowing that my wife would recover from mastectomy in comfort. Sherlock really cares about their clients. The office staff even sent a get well card!
Sherlock was professional at every step of the sales and installation process. The sales guy explained all the options and was totally honest. Other companies told me that all my ducts needed to be replaced. (Be wary of companies that tell you this lie.) Sherlock said that wasn't true, and it turned out the ducts were fine. The installation went very smoothly. Sherlock pulled the proper permits, installed the system and explained the inspection process including duct and vent testing. The installation was first class in every respect. They even cleaned out the cold air return and installed new decking for the furnace to sit on. I was impressed! They even gave us a Nest thermostat for free.
My wife has made a full recovery. Sherlock is an answered prayer. I can't thank them enough, and I'm sorry this review is so long overdue. I recommend Sherlock whenever I can and will always use them in the future.
The guys at Sherlock installed all new ducting in the house and did a great job with installation and clean up. After running the unit something wasn't right with cooling and quality of the air.
Jared was sent out to do and inspection and in a thorough and timely manner identified the issues.

Jonny arrived on time and was very pleasant and professional. He was going to provide an estimate to replace a broken sump pump, but after evaluating it he ended up repairing the existing unit, saving us hundreds of dollars. Would highly recommend and will definitely use them again!
It had been a while since I'd had a tune-up on my furnace so I called a few local places and Sherlock was the first to call me back. Jake arrived and was very professional, checked out my furnace, and answered all my questions. I was super impressed with the level of professionalism and have absolutely no reservations recommending Sherlock PH&A to any of my family or friends. To top it off they have really reasonable service rates.

When the heat wave started my dang air conditioner crapped out :(. I called Sherlock and got on the schedule for repair. Nick, the service person that they sent was amazing! He quickly determined that the air conditioner was not the problem, my fuse box had caught on fire because of a poor wiring job by a large solar installation company who will not be named at this time. Nick went the distance shutting down other areas of the house because he was concerned about the condition of the electrical box. He even called the next day to follow up and make sure All was well. That's good service .

Got my A/C and furnace replaced - we had a 20 year old original that was loud and inefficient.
Called Sherlock up as saw the good review on here. From the initial sales call through to the install it was a great experience and would highly recommend.
Only comments would be that they damaged the wall taking out the furnace out of the attic and their contractors who are meant to fix it have not contacted us in 3 days. Additionally there was no new air filter provided after install. Both minor and I'm sure they will be resolved. Just a hassle to have to follow up.
WOW. Dominic was AWESOME! We just purchased our home and have a practically brand new furnace (3 years). However, the people who installed it, did a horrible job and left a gap behind the furnace probably 2in x 12in, along with other things that were just improperly installed. The main reason for their visit was an issue while installing our Nest thermostat (no power to Rh wire), but I requested a quote on fixing that gap and recommendations for additional services that might as well be done while they pull the whole furnace out. I had an issue installing our Nest, turns out we blew a fuse trying to install it.
They gave me a call 30 minutes prior to arrival and when they got here, immediately put on booties to walk in my home! After I explained what happened and what needed to be done, Dominic got right to work. He let me know the issue was that we blew a fuse when installing our Nest. He replaced it with a fuse on hand to check that was all that was wrong. He let me know that if I wanted the fuse to be replaced today it would be an additional $75ish, when I was originally quoted $99 for the job. This made sense though because prior to coming to my house, they didn't know what caused my issue. I am glad I was informed ahead of time rather than just being hit with a fee though! I of course still wanted it done so he gave me the option of either him replacing it today and paying today, or he could come back another day to replace the fuse. I had it replaced today rather than waiting.
He gave me my recommendations and quote for the rest of the furnace issues. He only gave me things that are more urgent, not trying to up sell me on stuff. (Thank you!) He also walked me through the different payment plans, one being, 12 months, no interest, no payments. For a smaller job, this plan is so great! They also informed me on the VIP plan, which I think we will actually join. I had no idea they had military discount and I always forget to ask but that was another 10% off!! Through this whole process, Dominic informed me VERY well. I nearly questioned him to death, but he had an answer to satisfy every question and was more than happy to answer them! He was kind, considerate and informative, which is so so SO important for big jobs like this around the house. Thank you Dominic! We will definitely be scheduling our next job on our furnace with them!

Do not use Sherlock heating and air if you want a working AC in San Diego, CA.
I purchased my new really expensive AC unit in September 2018. May 2020 and it completely stopped working. I called Sherlock for a technician to come out on 5/9. They scheduled someone to come out on May 11th stating they couldn't come out on the same day even though I informed them the system was not cooling and it was a priority call as my husband and I are both essential employees and it is extremely difficult to take any time off right now with Covid. They still refused.
The tech showed up on 5/11 and did some trouble shooting, stated he fixed it. About 10 minutes after he left, the same warning needing a thermostat sensor came back on the panel. I called them back and informed them what the warning was and to have the tech bring out a new panel and thermostat. The tech came out on 5/15... I was hopeful since they actually sent out a seasoned tech. This technician came out and stated we needed a new mother board. He stated he would order the part and it should arrive on 5/18. I never heard back for over a week! I finally called them to see what the status was. They said the part hadn't arrived yet. Ridiculous!!!!! On the 3rd visit which took place on 5/27 the same technician came back and stated he ordered the WRONG PART!!! So much for being seasoned and knowing what you're doing. So we had to wait yet another week! Today 6/6 is visit #4. After the tech was here for 2.5 hours it's still not fixed!!!! Stating there's an issue with the thermostat and that yet another technician would have to come out next week! This is approximately 1 month and still no AC when temps are supposed to be in the 90s this coming week. Not Happy, they are not listening when I informed them from the beginning the issue was a thermostat sensor.

I had an emergency leak on December 23. It was difficult to find anyone to come out two days before Christmas! Sherlock Plumbing sent Greg out and he found my leak quickly and easily. Very pleased with our new heater and air conditioner installation by Sherlock Plumbing and Heating. Everyone involved with the process has been very helpful, knowledgeable and courteous.
Today, Dominic came out to make a VIP Safety check and to answer any questions or concerns we might have. He was great...showed us more options on how to use our Nest thermostat.

Dominic arrived promptly at 12pm (I was given a service window of 12-3pm) for our annual heating system inspection. He was extremely polite, professional and knowledgeable. He worked efficiently and kept me informed of his progress. After he'd finished inspecting our heating unit, he thoroughly and patiently answered all of my questions, then gave me multiple options for how to proceed. He was not pushy with sales at all.

I am NOT at all satisfied with this company. Poor customer service, lying to customers about service time frames and not following up with customer even after appointment time came and went without a tech showing up or even a courtesy call. I do NOT recommend them as a reliable, trust worthy company. Buyer beware!!
Called Sherlock to help with my Rannai tankless water heater, which was not heating, and beeping and giving me an error code 11.
Tech arrived and was not familiar with error code 11 and basically ignored it...fiddled with the water valves and then said I needed a new water pressure regulator (pressure was high at 100 psi). However he never tried to adjust the installed regulator and went straight in with a new install. I realized after the install, my regulator was set at full pressure...thus could have been adjusted. We'll never now...
Meanwhile...no change with my intermittent error code 11. Tech said he wanted to replace a corroded valve...then left saying he'd look it up and see if he could get one. And left....so...basically ignoring the self diagnosis code 11! Havn't heard from him or Sherlock since...so I'm giving up.
So...after some research (and calling Rannai), code 11 is a gas igniter issue, which is the result of a few things. I called another plumbing company and told them my error code. They said: OK. That's an igniter issue. We can clean and dust the gas inlets and fan to ensure a good supply, and clean the burner heads. Well also check the igniter itself. Also, we may need to do a scale wash and flush.
Bam. Night and day. Will not let Sherlock near this system at this point. They don't know what to do. And they didn't do any diligence on fault diagnosis. The internet is a powerful resource! Even when the service center is shut.

We had Dominic Rockshead at our Carlsbad house on 12/4/2019 to repair our heater. He was a true gentleman, very respectful, and honest. We were told by another company last night that it would $10,000.00 or more. Come to find out they were wrong as Dominic showed us we just needed a new thermostat. Sherlock Plumbing, Heating, and Air were amazing from start to finish. I was interested in getting a Lennox system and used Costco to set me up with a consultation. Sherlock contacted me and sent their sales consultant, Nate, to my house. Nate was professional and knowledgeable. I wanted to add air conditioning to my new system but had limited space on the side of my house. Nate recommended a solution that would involve installing a slimline air conditioner that would meet the building code requirement and pass permit inspection. I then received estimates from several other companies and Sherlock's estimate was the lowest. I contacted Sherlock to do the work and they proceeded to complete all my paperwork online and scheduled my installation to be started in five days. On the day of the installation, a full crew led by Billy showed up to start the project. Billy, Paulo, and the crew were incredible. They were polite, professional, knowledgeable, and hard working. The job was performed to my complete satisfaction and with impeccable workmanship. I will definitely use Sherlock again and recommend them to others for plumbing and heating needs. My compliments to Costco for using Sherlock for their Lennox sales and installation.

We had some issues with our heating and finally decided to put some money into repairing them.
Sherlock was easy to deal with in terms of scheduling. The first day that someone was suppose to come out to perform the service, they never showed at the appointment time. I called and finally was told they had an appointment that went overtime. That isn't unheard of, but not calling to let us know means we wasted 2 hours of our afternoon just waiting for someone who didn't end up showing.
When they did come the next day, I could see how time just flies by without them realizing because they are stuck up in the attic messing with who knows what.
All the work they did for us took over a day and half. Our pockets really took a hit.
Although our experience with Sherlock was ok, I hope to avoid these expensive expenses in the future.

I have used Sherlock P,H & A Services for years. They are pretty amazing. They came out same day this time for a furnace maintenance appointment (get the VIP package and it's included!). Dominic was the gentleman assigned to the call. He was prompt, polite, clean (wore booties in my house), really nice, efficient, informative - made suggestions for things to watch for in the future due to the age of my system, and left without charging me a penny! I love having a company I can trust to take care of me!
Thank you.....thank you.....thank you! So last week our AC stopped bowing cold on the HOTTEST damn day of the week. Called Sherlock (our kids went to school together) and they sent a tech out. They said he would be there between 12 and 2.....called.....showed up at 12:15!!! Excellent start.
He hooked up all sorts of stuff.....and told me there was no leak. He hooked up more stuff and said oh you have a bad Capacitor! $225 part and that was the charge. They waived the Service Fee since I chose to have them fix it. He installed it and it he AC fired right up. We were back in business.

Where do I begin to tell the story about how this company lacks? Their level of customer service is so poor. Their level of communication, not only with its customers, but internally is unbelievably terrible. At the very beginning, the sales person was personable, he was knowledgable as well. This wasn't the problem. The install team stepped thru our ceiling, they lost the book to our touch display and there was a lot of general debauchery. The insulation that needed to be added was misquoted by Sherlocks team so that took extra time. The chump they third party outsourced to fix the ceiling was rude and unprofessional, also lacked communication skills. This was corrected with an alternate company. Meanwhile its almost two weeks later and still no booklet for our touch panel. I had to harass the sales guy to put it in an envelope and mail it.... which still took another week. I thought I was finally done with this company but low and behold the touch display was shutting off randomly. I called and left a message and then never heard from them again. That was three months ago until it recently did it again. I called again and luckily got someone. I explained my story and found the entire team that did my install had moved on... so I thought wow this might turn around. I set an appointment with them for today. I was quoted a time of 10:00 am. Thirty minutes after the quoted time I received a courtesy call letting me know they wouldn't be here at the scheduled time..... Not before the scheduled time, which mind you I phoned this morning and confirmed with the customer service team at Sherlock. After an frustrating conversation with whomever I spoke to about this lack of customer service and communication, I asked for a manager.... I received the same non resolving we care, and are sorry, and thats not what happened
To put it simply for almost $30K in services and equipment you would think the level of concern and customer care would be outstanding. I thought this was a family owned business. It acts more like a corporate take a number and we will get to you disaster. All I wanted was to handle preparing this house for my family after my mothers husband died and instead was met with some of the most unprofessional individuals I have EVER encountered. Mind you I was a bartender for TEN YEARS, and have dealt with 2 a.m. drunks who communicate and act more appropriately than this lot.
Thanks for making it seem like you care but AT NO POINT HAVE I HEARD ANYTHING FROM ANY OF THE ASSOCIATES THERE ABOUT HOW THEY WOULD MAKE IT RIGHT. JUST EXCUSES AND EMPTY APOLOGIES. Thanks for taking our money and not providing the five star customer service you should be providing for this level of consumerism.

Recently moved into a new home. Wanted to make sure my heating and air conditioner were in top working order before winter. Last owner had a Sherlock Heating and Air sticker on the equipment. So, I called for a service maintenance. Dominic came today, and I certainly am glad I called. If all of Sherlock's employees are as professional and knowledgeable as Dominic, it truly is a 5 star company.
Ok, I want to update this review. Following my original posting Shannon followed-up with me to apologize and ask if they could have an opportunity to earn my trust back. They responded to this post, called me and even sent me a card in the mail. That in itself was impressive. They actually cared.
Since I was continuing to have AC problems I agreed to have them come out for another try. Bill was the service tech and I must say he seemed to know what he was talking about and presented himself very professionally. Turns out we agreed I should replace the blower fan, among some other work. He ordered the parts and came back earlier today to complete the work. At this time everything seems good.
While he was here I asked him what it would cost to simply replace the entire system. It is over 20 years old. He called the office and asked if they would send a rep out to meet with me and provide me with a price. On the same day, today, Curt & Dustin came to my house to look at everything, sat down and explained my options on new equipment and gave me a price. Again, they seemed to be very thorough and definitely were very professional.
I have changed my review from 1 star to 5 stars and even purchased their service contract. Time will tell if I need to purchase a new system or not.
OLD REVIEW:
I called this business because another one failed to show up as scheduled. They made an appointment to stop in and service my unit. If they found a problem they could diagnose it and suggest repairs. If I said there is a problem the initial call would cost more.
The day of my appointment I received a call informing me they had a lot of people with problem units and would like to reschedule me. I wasn't happy about this but agreed to reschedule. At this point another company should up unexpectedly and was able to service my unit so I called Sherlock back and said to disregard the appointment.
While I understand emergencies come up and am usually willing to work with them the bottom line is I don't want to become one of their emergencies and I don't like being like an afterthought.
Top quality work. We had a leak in our attic and Sheroick responded immediately finding the source of the leak and resolution. Unfortunately we had to replace the coil and condenser outside for proper sizing. They had a comfort consultant contact us immediately and we had a consultation next day. Fair price for the quality of equipment and workmanship. Within just a few days their team arrived and installed and had AC working in same day. Clean and professional is how my wife described them. We have triple wet/safety switch protection with 10 year warranty and VIP service included for 2 years. Nothing but high recommendations from us both.

Expensive rates and we had to pay $99.00 to find out what might be wrong with our system. We were quoted in the neighborhood of $2,700.00 by Jared to service and fix our non working a/c and replace the freon that was not in the system. Turns out from another company Liberty Mechanical the Leak was upstairs in the Attic and a Valve had to be replaced. Sherlock never went into our attic to locate the problem. I called the company and wanted to speak to the owner Aaron and never received a phone call back. In addtion the appointment was cancelled and rescheduled because of their workload. Still waiting for a call Two months later.
I have been using Sherlock for a number of years now from getting a new heater & air conditioner to servicing them to having them take care of plumbing issues.... And they have never failed to impress me!!!! I needed their help with a leaky toilet & today Anthony came to the rescue!!! This company is always punctual, everyone is professional & friendly. They do things like they would want them done in their own home. I can't say enough great things about them! And Rachel is ALWAYS helpful when I call in!! AWESOME COMPANY!!!!!
A while back our heater quit working, so we had Sherlock come out to give us an estimate on repairing it. They guy claimed that it couldn't be repaired and we'd have to get a new unit. The quote was pretty pricey, and I decided to see what other companies would charge, even though I was already on the hook with them for about $200 just for having them come out. Time passed and we didn't get it repaired because really, we never used it much anyway. Well, fast forward to yesterday; a mutual friend who's been in the HVAC business for 30 years offered to take a look at it. Within 5 minutes he had our heater running just fine. He said there was too much dust on the pilot area, so that was keeping it from starting. Needless to say, I'd think twice about calling Sherlock for repair estimates, seems as if they're only interested in selling new units.

There is a reason this place has nothing but five stars. They earn it! I have had no AC in the house and was procrastinating on getting it fixed due to the cost and lack of need most of the year. I was very nervous when I called sherlock to just come out and give me a quote. When jarred arrived he was super friendly and put me at ease he wasn't here to take all my money. That made me laugh and feel automatically comfortable. He was in the backyard for a total of ten minutes before he found the problem. It would cost me just a couple hundred instead of a couple thousand. YAY! I have a unit from the day the house was built (1989) so he didnt promise it will last forever, I mean its old but the one part made my house as cool as a winters day. He was friendly, kept his booties on in my house, played with my dog, and was just a nice guy.
After this experience I am a loyal customer to the Sherlock family. Its so nice when they help FIX instead of just asking for a whole bunch of money.

Neil Nath did a great job showing up on time to our Carlsbad home, measuring and assessing our needs for a new a/c. It was very professional. Even though his quote was 10-15% higher than 2 other companies we decided to use Sherlock because his consultation was so detailed and thorough. A few days before the job Neal called to say his measurements didn't accurately reflect the actual costs of installation and that we would have to pay hundreds of dollars more than what we were quoted and already signed a contract for. We (unhappily) agreed to the last minute price change because we wanted to just get the job done. Then on our scheduled installation day last Friday the 28th (which we took the day off from work to be home) nobody from this company even showed up. When we called Sherlock we got no information and 5 days later nobody has called us back yet and now we're fighting with our credit card company to get our deposit back. It's a very nice sales presentation followed by a last minute price change and then a no call/no show on install day. I will follow up this review with regards to getting our deposit back, and who we ended up hiring to do the job, but in no way could this company be recommended.
It a great coincidence that this company is called Sherlock, because it took some master detecting to figure out the odd combination of things that caused my AC to fail.
If you are lucky enough to get Sergio to show up at your door, count your blessings because your stuff will be fixed right and he won't leave any detail un-investigated.
From start to finish my experience with this company was positive. The people answering the phones are professional and friendly, scheduling happened faster than I expected (considering it was in the 90s the day I called with my broken AC), everyone calls you and confirms and shows up when they say they will.
The first young man to come out (Jake) did a thorough investigation, spending quite a bit of time going through every square inch of the system. He was fabulously professional and communicative. He made some educated guesses as to what might be the problem. I originally thought the issue was with my new Nest thermostat and Jake is very good with those - I don't think he expected to be going through my crawl space and up and down through all the ducting and wiring, but he never complained and stayed until he had exhausted almost every possibility for what was causing the system to fail. He also made the phone calls to verify my warranty, to order the part he thought might be the culprit, and to ensure that it would be delivered and picked up and my replacement appointment would be set.
The next day Sergio came, thinking we had to replace my compressor. He, too, searched every inch of my system hoping he might be able to save me the cost of the compressor, especially because my system was so new. And he did! He discovered a few odd configurations and problems which had been created both by some electrical work we had recently done and a previous AC servicing issue. It really took a master AC expert with years of experience to figure this out. Voila - problem solved and sweet cold air filled the house!!! Miraculous. These were very small, very odd things most people might not have noticed, but he was so thorough and experienced he found them. He still stayed for quite a bit longer, testing every function of the system, checking every connection, finding and fixing some air flow problems, and finally buttoning everything up cleanly to ensure that everything was flowing smoothly and consistently. He then sat down and very carefully went over all of his findings, explaining everything, teaching me a lot about how systems like this work, and offering suggestions for the best possible maintenance moving forward.
These days it's hard to find companies you feel you can trust. There are some sketchy operators out there just trying to up-sell. I can say that my experience with Sherlock's employees from start to finish was very customer-oriented. I feel like I got more than my money's worth in service and that they were working hard to make sure I wasn't spending more money than I should. They will be my go-to from here on out.
GET MULTIPLE QUOTES!!!!!
I didn't go with Sherlock because their least expensive option to replace my old furnace was for a private label one that was $1826 more expensive than a competitor's quote for a well respected Carrier brand furnace. This was after I told the salesperson I wanted a reliable no bells and whistles 80% furnace. I then spoke to a friend who also recently received a quote from Sherlock for work at his house. He also received an unreasonably high quote.
I received quotes from 6 different companies after providing the EXACT SAME information to them all...they ranged from $1890 to $5500. RIDICULOUS!!!!
I suspect that some of these hvac companies have dedicated salespeople who work on commission.
This is a review not so much for Sherlock, but for Fred Radtke - the young man that came and got my heater working. He not only installed a new thermostat on the spot that is easier to read - and replaced the NON working one - he took care of the crackling sound in my bedroom I've listened to for almost 3 years because the previous workers told me it was normal and ok. Fred was polite, efficient, and of course professional. Integrity in people nowadays if a rare find and when I do find it I want to acknowledge. In addition - due to the issues I've had - including a few days without heat - Fred waived the service fee I was told I'd have to pay. This is good business - and thanks to Fred - Sherlock is getting from this customer a 5 star review. Should I have anymore concerns - don't send anyone but Fred!!!!!
This Company is awesome. I was referred to them by a neighbor who is also very pleased and has used them for years. Everyone from the sales person to the phone staff to the men who did the work were so nice and respectful. I had minisplits installed in my small beach cottage. They are working great. They cleaned up everything after they worked and it was like magicians or elves who had been here and installed the air-conditioning. Even the drywall workers repaired the walls, matched the paint and left no trace. This was right in the middle of a heatwave and so welcome.
They fixed my ac quickly and efficiently. They were friendly and quick with their services. I found the cost to be good and signed up for their vip program so I get a free service next time. I had an issue and they followed up immediately and got it taken care of. An honest and hardworking company.

Since we recently moved back to CA and bought a 2 yr old home we decided to get our system (AC and furnace) checked out. The AC worked great but since we were not the original owners we wanted to make sure. We went onto the website Nextdoor.com and asked for recommendations. Sherlock and one other HVAC company kept getting mentioned. We called to make an appt. and spoke to Chelsea, she was very courteous, nice and helpful.
Today we had the pleasure of meeting and working with Jared. He was very courteous, treated our home with respect, knowledgeable, explained things very well and was very honest. My husband is a techy so they got along great! He pointed out a few things, and recommended a few things as well. He was not pushy with anything, a delight to work with. People are always quick to complain and write when a job isn't well done or done to their satisfaction and they don't seem to want to take the time to say thank you when a job is well done. We are not of this mold, and want to say thank you very much for a great service call. We will definitely use them when the need arises in the future. Thanks again!
I have used Sherlock for over six years now and they continue to do a great job. Jeremy showed up on time, wore his mask and covered his boots to keep our house clean. He did a great job of diagnosing and promptly fixed what we needed to get our AC working at top level again. When it came to using a coupon, I spoke with Shannon in the office and was very pleased by her polite manner and willingness to work with me to make me 100% satisfied. In short, Sherlock continues to perform at a level that makes it easy to give them five stars!!!
Just want to say how impressed I am with Sherlock Plumbing, Heating and Air. Our water heater exploded last night which left us with no water. Aaron Sherlock and Jeff Thomas rearranged their preset schedule to help us. Oscar Frigon, their plumbing expert came out, removed the old water heater, replaced it with a new one, added an expansion tank and was done within a couple hours. He was professional, knowledgeable, personable and followed Covid precautionary guidelines. He explained the entire system to me before leaving. Thank you Oscar and the Sherlock team.

If you live in the San Diego area (especially North County) and are having AC trouble, Sherlock should be your go-to. A few days ago our AC unit decided it didn't want to blow cold air anymore despite the unit still working just fine. We used Yelp to look for a reputable business to come check it out and Sherlock was at the top of the list (and had great reviews).
When we called they originally said they couldn't squeeze us in until early next week but gave us a call back a little later that day saying a tech could come immediately. Jared showed up at our place on time and ready to work. He was quick to answer any questions that we had. He was in and out pretty quickly and made sure everything was working 100% before he left. He was also kind enough to provide us with a quote for a larger service that we may need to do down the road.
I would highly recommend Sherlock to anyone.

I made an appointment for Friday at 2pm to get an estimate to install the new AC in my house. They texted me a day before and confirmed the appointment. On the day I waited until 2:30 and no one showed up so I called them and they said they can't make it by 2 and bill called me back and said they can make it at 5. Then they called again at 4:30 and said they can't make it today and earliest they can do is August 21! For giving an estimate!. This is not a good sign todo business while you confirm your appointment and don't show up and say uh it was on board but we didn't see it. You guys at least lost 13,000$ contract, your company waisted my time and that money goes to someone else pocket.

Best company service ever. No up selling, or other sales BS as with other companies. If you're going to invest in the expense of installing a new HVAC system--shop around and you'll end up going with Sherlock. Eddie the installation tech was very efficient and completely professional in ensuring that everything was working to standard. Very happy.
Update---A year later and I'm still very happy I chose Sherlock. Today Jared is inspecting everything installed last year and ensuring its ready to go for the summer. What does it cost? NOTHING--FREE! That's solid customer service.

JR, JoJo, and Eric came to my condo yesterday to install my HVAC system and Heat Pump.
They were very meticulous and on task for the whole installation, and kept me informed as to what they were doing throughout the whole process.
I was beyond impressed with their work ethic, and Sherlock is lucky to have them.
They actually left my condo cleaner than they found it.
Too bad I can't give 6 stars!
I had a recent system Tune Up by Brendon Tracy yesterday. He was helpful, friendly, and informative.
The biggest value in the tune-ups is the ability to talk to the technician who helps you; ask them lots of questions and spend time with them talking about how to use the system. Ask them to SHOW YOU what they looked at, not because you want to check their work but because YOU will learn about your system. Brendon spend the time to answer my questions thoroughly.
So totally satisfied with the install team today! Jesse, Phil and Ricardo were efficient, very professional, driven, super helpful: they were pretty much awesome! We are so happy with our newly installed A/C and furnace! Curtis, our initial contact and consultant even came to check in on us to answer any additional questions. Jesse was a trove of knowledge once everything was in place. Fantastic service from Sherlock Heating and Air Conditioning! We went through Costco which has a fair deal with this company. Good financing too.
Eddie! HE IS THE MAN! It's the first day of Summer we're dying over here in Escondido. Our AC wasn't working and we just couldn't understand why since it was practically brand new and we only turned it on a handful of times. We ended up calling Sherlock Heating and AC and they sent Eddie over to us. Someone give this man an award because he found the problem (which was so stupid) super fast and was in and out of here in record time. There was no BS and he cut right to it. This was such a nice experience because he took the time to help me understand what was wrong, why it wasn't working and then how he fixed it. Great service and such a friendly guy! Please call this company this Summer because I know there's going to be a lot of AC problems.

Sherlock Heating & Air installed a new heating and air conditioning unit two years ago. During my remodel this spring, we found a minor issue due to the install of the heating unit. Aaron, the owner of Sherlock, personally came over to my house to inspect his employee's installation work. Aaron developed a solution that was acceptable not only to myself but to my contractor. The fact that Aaron, the owner and president, personally came out is what makes Sherlock stand above all others. Aaron stands by his employees work. He values his reputation and wants to ensure each and every customer is beyond happy with the products and services that Sherlock provides. I can't recommend Sherlock enough to those needing either a new heating and/or air conditioning unit or repair work in the North County area.
Watch out, these guys charge to estimate. Had to pay $375 for them to tell me I needed a new AC. Then their estimate ended being twice as much as the guys I ended up using. The guys I ended up using didn't charge me for estimating. Felt ripped off with Sherlock.
Addendum:
The owner of the company brought to my attention I overlooked the lesser option estimate. He was very nice and professional and seemed to take pride in his business. While they are still a bit more expensive then the vendor I ended up using, I now no longer think they are over charging but rather this is premium service company.
I had this guys out for a quote, and they are VERY nice and professional but EXPENSIVE.
Do yourself a favor and shop around.

Everyone at Sherlock plumbing and heating was very professional and courteous. Tyler explained everything really well and Eric was very knowledgeable about our heater system. We plan to replace our air conditioner in the future and will be calling them.
These guys were super kind, extremely punctual, and courteous. From Bob who answered the phone, to Sergio and his partner who came out to assess my concerns during my remodel. Communication was fantastic. Customer service was excellent. They also were so quick in answering me and coming by to assess the situation. Thank you guys so much! We were very impressed with our service from Sherlock. We had a 20 yr old heater and no A/C. We decided it was time to get A/C and knew getting a heater was probably a good idea as well. Justin took the time to really listen to our needs and discuss all our options. We felt no pressure about our decisions and ended up feeling very confident with them. Billy and Tyler did a phenomenal job installing the units. What was supposed to be a 2 day job they completed in 1. Everything is working great. They have a great warranty and customer service as well. We look forward to working with them for servicing/maintenance in the future and highly recommend them!

Just got our new A/C in time for the summer. We had Justin come to our home last year and decided to wait and see how the summer went.
It was a hot summer. Our babies room seems to be the hottest room in the house. We bought a portable window unit at Lowes for $350.00 it ran all the time and didn't really seem to control the temperature in the room just fight it. So after last week hot snap we made the call to Justin and he was happy to help. There was an opening in the schedule and we pulled the trigger at a great price! The installers were awesome. I had a new system installed by Scott and Rubin recently. They did a great job and things worked fine for several weeks.
All of a sudden, the condenser wasn't coming on when I set the temp on my wireless thermostat. I called in and they sent Fred who spent the time he needed (IMHO) to diagnose my concerns. He patiently explained the process and gave me some info I didn't have before.
Now it works and I am happy. I'm also impressed that they quickly followup when I call and provide excellent customer service which is lacking in many businesses today. I will recommend them to my friends

Steve Moore is an exceptional service technician....clean cut and very professional. He recently diagnosed and repaired a clogged drain on my unit. It was a quick and economical fix thanks to his premium service.
Great job. Nick was nice, professional and competent. Fixed the problem in a few minutes. I like the reminder call the day before, the call prior to service arrival (within 1-2 hours) and check out on the ipad. Overall very pleased. Thanks!

Called Sherlock on Monday 3/26/18 and spoke with Jessica. I had an issue with my new thermostat and a blown fuse. Jessica provided excellent customer service over the phone and was able to get me set up with a technician the same day.
The technician who name is Jared came over and had a very friendly demeanor. Jared was able to quickly assess the situation and provided the cost of repair upfront before any work began. Jared is very knowledgable is his craft and was able to explain details about the situation to someone who has minimal knowledge regarding HVAC issues. All work completed was accomplished in a clean and timely manner.

It was Fall, cold weather approaching and I wanted to have my forced air heater checked before I fired it up. I had an early afternoon appointment and the technician arrived around 6:00. I understand that this happens, especially considering the time of year. I called a couple of times to get updates and they were very helpful with giving me the updates requested. By the time the technician arrived, it was getting dark. I am sure he was busy all day, but his attitude was very friendly. He checked my furnace and all was fine, old, but fine. It would last a few more years. Good news.
Outstanding experience from start to finish. Neil was on time, professional, and very personable when he came the same day to assess my needs and provide an on-the-spot estimate. He didn't try and pressure me into things I didn't need. Jeff arrived the next day on time with all the possible parts needed to complete the installation. He worked through every little challenge and completed the job on time and left everything spotless and professional looking. And Rachel is absolutely THE BEST customer service representative you will ever speak to on the phone. She treats you like a friend, not like just another customer. 5 STARS-HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
During the last heat wave, our air conditioning went out. I called 7 local companies. Sherlock Plumbing and Heating was one of only 2 who returned my call. Nick Colantuono came out and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. He explained that even though our units are older they are still good units, and we should keep them working. He gave me maintenance tips as he worked. We ended up purchasing a maintenance service because the company was so helpful.
In addition to being knowledgeable, Nick was really friendly. The poodle we are dog sitting barks at everyone. He fell in love with Nick and quieted right down.

Jared from Sherlock Plumbing Heating & Air is nothing less than outstanding. My HVAC was not cooling at all and honestly really just needs to be replaced. However, Jared was able to get it working again for the time being. He then spent a significant amount of time consulting me on the best options to replace my system. I'm more than satisfied that Jared and Sherlock have my best interest in mind and I feel confident my new system will exceed my expectations. I'm now excited about getting a new system and really looking for ward to it.
Nick just left my place after servicing my HVAC. He was super nice and took pride in his work. I would recommend asking for Nick when you make your appointment.
Great experience! My townhome is in escrow and a complete heating and AC service was requested. I wasn't sure who to contact for a townhome AC unit but Benita was extremely professional in answering my questions, informing me of details of service and cost. She was very accurate on scheduling as well as follow up.

Sherlock is the best customer service around! They started servicing our previous unit and they have always given us the best customer service. They are very professional and when it came down for us to make the decision of buying a new unit, We looked around and We decided to purchase our unit with them and the experience was great! EVERYONE in the company are super nice, knowlegable and helpful! They have many options to fit your needs and budget. The sales person makes a full assessment of your home size, your budget and hears what you want, to give you different options to choose from that meet your needs, after you make the decision on the unit, the installation crew are also very professional nice and get it installed quick! The follow up is also amazing they are so organized on their paperwork (you might need city permits and you need to have everything done on code) they give you a step-by-step guide and they are there to support you and to answer all your questions!
Another thing that is awesome is that the people that works for the company seem to be very happy to be there and to me that says a lot about the company and all the work and effort they all put in from the moment they answer the phone for a simple service appointment all the way to make sure you get the best unit you need. I highly recommend this company and I wish there were more companies like this around!
Our 30 year-old furnace finally died and based on reviews and the fact that they are a local Vista company we had Sherlock install a new furnace and add AC. Everyone that came out was a Sherlock employee, no contractors, and they were all very courteous and helpful throughout the process. They completed the install quickly and did a very tidy, professional looking job. We had a couple challenges that popped up along the way and they went above and beyond to make us happy. The furnace is awesome and I can't wait for summer to try out the new AC!

Where do we even begin with this review....
We have an old home. We needed an entirely new heat pump/AC unit, new duct work etc installed. Several companies told us that it was impossible to do the job.
We had Sherlock come out for first a repair - Jared, who did an amazing job, and told us it was possible to do the needed new install work. After being so happy with his work for us we called Sherlock again about a quote for a new unit. Then our salesperson Justin came out, who was incredibly helpful and managed to get us on the schedule quickly.
Finally our install team ... Alfredo & Jojo. AMAZING. In the process of renovating our house they have been my very favorite contractors here. For so many reasons. They immediately introduced themselves to me, shook my hands, smiled. They were so wonderful to have working in our home. Polite, honest, hardworking, EXCITED for the excellent work they were doing for us and obviously proud of what they do. The job took 3 days, and in 3 days I have never been so happy to spend that much money. It was SO WORTH IT. I can't say enough good things about every single person at the company.
We have an amazing, energy efficient, state of the art new system, and to all those other companies who said it was impossible .. I assure you it was possible, and it was done by the very best company around.
Please, don't look further .. hire them. You will NEVER regret it.

It is well represented by it's employees and Jared is no exception. His knowledge of heating and air conditioning is exemplary. He works with enthusiasm, determined to find a solution to the problem. His honesty and inter-personal skills are excellent and he is ever mindful of the sensitivity to financial concerns. He worked tirelessly in the heat to repair a botched job from the previous installer.

I'm not sure what is up with this company. We had a guy come out within a week of calling, which is great, but the amount he quoted was incredibly high.
He also said our unit was in great condition and new, but a few days after the appointment, they called and said the inspector saw that our unit was ridiculously old and asked if we wanted to join their membership club. What?
The quotes and write up for 3 different items were all at least 4 times higher than other companies. The entire thing felt really weird.
The technician did a good job and was very professional. The pricing was a little confusing, but I will chalk that up to poor communication and not being deceptive.
Just got my heating & air installed by Sherlock. They did a great job. Justin is awesome.
I called Sherlock plumbing heating and air, I had a two week wait but it was worth it ! Jared S. was our technician, he was professional and went over and beyond helping us with our AC. He answered every question I had from programming the thermostat to possible purchasing a new one. We first had Eric M. He was just as professional but was out sick when we called the second time. They have a great team of technicians. I would highly recommended this company. I loved the technology!

Wish I could give them 0 stars bc you can't get any service. Why would you close on the weekends? Unfortunately, my landlord has a contract with them for repairs. What good is the contract if you can't get any to come to the house when things are broken? PS They were here in May (3 months ago) and didn't charge the AC to make sure it would work through the summer. Thanks for nothing.

Due solely to receiving a poor review, they sent someone to the house to fix the ac. On the way out, they asked me to change my review. What happened to customer service for customer service sake? I rely heavily on reviews bc we move every couple years. If there's not truth in reviews, customers can be led astray.
Personally, I wouldn't sign a service contract with this company. It seems from their current operating hours, lack of availability and response on this review, they may have signed up with a few too many customers.
Thankfully, Fred was able to get the ac working rather quickly and was very polite.
This company is amazing from start to finish!! Randy Isaac came out and explained everything. William Mitchell was or installer, He and Tony were polite and very knowable. Thank you so much for your great work!!

Great crew!!! In and out in one day. They replaced our AC, heater, compressor and lines with i high efficiency unit for a great price and a great warranty. The place was spotless when they left too!!
I recently lost cooling in one of my AC units and asked Sherlock Inc to send a technician out to diagnose the problem. They were extremely professional from the first phone call to every communication including the reminders that they would be sending a tech out to take a look at my system. Nick Colantuono was our comfort technician and he diagnosed the problem quickly and correctly. He was knowledgeable, professional, honest and very patient with all of my questions. I would absolutely recommend Sherlock, Inc and Nick and will use them again in the future.
I just had Jared Stein-Roe here at my house to look at my old, non-working AC unit. I had previous technicians look at it and the only idea ever suggested was total replacement. I know that's the ideal, but sometimes that's not possible.
Jared presented me with that option as well, but also other options to consider. He didn't really press anything in particular, but explained everything very well, enabling me to make the best choice for myself at this time.
He was thoughtful and careful to be respectful of my house and my pets. He is an exemplary employee and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone searching for the highest caliber individual Thank you Jared, and Sherlock Heating and Air.

Enoch was a careful and thorough technician. He did a great job of meticulously keeping my floors and his work area clean. He explained what he did and presented his recommendations clearly. I like this company.
This company was incredible! Our AC went down last year. We got estimates from a number of companies. All said we needed a new system because the compressor was out.
Jared Stein-Roe did a complete diagnostic. We did not need a compressor. He had it up and running for hundreds of dollars as opposed to 6K. He recommended additional services that still had our final bill thousands less than other estimates. Our AC is working better than ever. We couldn't be happier with Jared Stein-Roe and Sherlock. He also gave a 10% military discount.
It's good to know that there are honest companies out there. It's equally unfortunate that most of the companies that came out to give an estimate turned about to be dishonest and unethical.

Last year Sherlock Plumbing and Heating installed a new furnace that we purchased through COSTCO. Last month we decide to add on Air Conditioning, also purchased through COSTCO, with work done by Sherlock. I highly recommend going through COSTCO in order to get COSTCO Cash awards. The quality of equipment and Sherlock employees work is outstanding. Curtis walked us through the initial project planning and cost. Last year Curtis knew that we may want to add air conditioning so he planned for that when we did the initial furnace install. This made the addition of air conditioning this year much easier. Also, the lead technician, Greg, did both jobs so that we had consistency. Greg and Nacho arrived on time and worked diligently to finish in one day. They reviewed the original work order for installation and came up with an alternate plan that would be even more aesthetically pleasing. They were able to find a route that completely sealed the equipment indoors due to our vaulted ceilings. Nacho did a great job closing in the lines outside along with many other tasks as he worked with Greg. Great teamwork! We couldn't be more pleased that Greg and Nacho took extra time to evaluate the entire install and found the best way as if our home was how they would have their home look. Before leaving, all was cleaned up and Greg made sure that we registered our unit and knew how to use the control panel. Additionally, Sherlock office staff was polite and always kept us informed. Daisy and Samatha kept us aware of scheduling and permit process. Sherlock staff took charge from start to finish. Lastly, Dominic came by for our first VIP check after the 8 month initial furnace install. Not only did he replace the filter, but recommended and added a surge protector on the furnace. He was on time, knowledgeable, efficient and very polite. I highly recommend Sherlock Plumbing and Heating. Their quality and staff is superior.

It's November, and I want to update my review -- still 5 stars!
I waited until almost summer's end, and decided to go for central AC. I had estimates from 2 other companies--but Robert was the only rep who actually got up into the attic and really looked around. The other 2 company reps just popped their heads up into the attic space, but did not climb up into the space. His assessment of my present situation and future needs was more complete, and comprehensive. I was not oversold, but was educated and felt I was dealing with a guy who was objective and who had integrity.
So, I went with Sherlock -- and am very glad I did! The install (Aug 2017) went perfectly... a 2 zone system and new furnace. Just in time for those last couple heat waves!
I can't sing enough praises for Billy M. - he did an outstanding job with the install! He really knows his job inside and out, and several unpredictable obstacles that my older townhome presented were dealt with efficiently, confidently and professionally.
Not to mention he is just a nice guy -- it was a pleasure to have him in my house working throughout this two-day job. Billy was ably assisted by Alfredo. On top of doing a stellar job, they're neat and left my home as clean as they found it each day.
I don't think you can go wrong with Sherlock -- this company has my highest recommendation!

I came to Sherlock by way of the Nest website--checked out the Yelp reviews and then made the call. Eric M., the technician who installed my 3rd gen Nest Learning Thermostat was courteous, knowledgable, efficient, and did the job competently. He installed a Nest Protect Smoke & CO2 alarm, checked my furnace, and answered all my questions. (Not to mention, he was very careful as far as neatness--you can be sure there won't be any debris/messes.dirt left behind.)
I plan on calling Sherlock to consider some major HVAC work early this year.
Highly recommended from this one visit!
I called on a Friday and Enoch came over at 9 Saturday morning...and it was a wonderful experience to have him in my home. I was concerned because the heater was blowing cold air through the vents. He got up in my attic, noted that a part was out of tolerance and showed me why the filter needed replacing. In his truck he had what was needed to fix the problem and then took the service fee off the price of the parts. He also went into detail to explain that I have a heat pump which must defrost before it can pump out heat as opposed to gas heaters that don't, so cold air will occaisionally vent during the process. He was very professional, thorough as well as being personable. This is the kind of service Sherlock has always provided and I am so happy I chose them.
JARED was awesome. Very professional and polite. He walked us through every option and fixed our wonky air conditioner . So grateful to have such an honest and friendly technician. Will definitely have him on speed dial for our air/heating needs in the future .
Jared just left and I could not be happier. He gave me several options to choose from. I ended up getting the most basic because I know our unit is old and going to die soon enough. He did the best he can to get the best remaining years out of it. I will be using Sherlock plumbing heating and air from this point forward. I highly recommend them and Jared!

Recently had 3 Split units installed. Sherlock should be a model for all businesses. Our experience with all the employees from our Consultant Randy to the installers Jesse and Ricardo was great! All were professional, knowledgeable, personalble and respectful of ourselves and our home. Units are the perfect size for each room.
Highly recommend Sherlock.
Came out to inspect 2 AC units after the units cleared the first round of property inspections during an escrow. When the guys from this company showed up, they turned the unit on, and as soon as they did, it started emitting a weird smell in the air. It was working fine the day before, with no smell whatsoever. They claimed we needed a new condenser, which would have cost $7,000. Well, that seemed odd. We got a second opinion, and what do you know? The smell was gone and the unit works perfectly. Beware of this company!!
Sherlock is the coolest!
As always, Yelpers are right on. Basing my picks on high stars and number of reviews, I called four companies. Right off the bat, I knew one company wasn't even an option due to them being here all of 8 minutes vs. the 45-60 min. of the other companies and actually being slightly rude and throwing out ridiculous extra charges. The other three were neck and neck in competition. It finally came down to who I was thoroughly impressed by and price. From the moment I met Trever, I was impressed with Sherlock as a company. He was very professional from his explanation of what would go where and how it would look, to all of our options. Even the marketing materials were impressive being able to review again versus trying to remember what someone said as you walk around with them. I received a follow-up email from Tina about my decision (which was still up in the air) then a call from Rich to provide additional items to make the choice more enticing and that was it; I was completely sold. After that call, everything kicked into high gear. I got another email from Tina providing a run-down on what to expect on installation day and thereafter with HERS testing (still not exactly sure what they do but it happened just as she said) and final inspection. Less than a week later, Billy and Donny were at my door right on time. They carried on the flag of high level professionalism as their colleagues. From the get-go they were both extremely gracious and hard working. I never saw them take a break once! From morning to dusk, they worked on not only installing the new unit, but went above and beyond on making sure everything looked aesthetically pleasing and even putting the unit in a great place where it won't be in the way. Even down to always remembering to put on shoe covers every time they came into the house. They also walked me through my nifty new wifi thermostat by Nest. My new favorite thing: turning on the air conditioner from bed using the Nest app! Altogether, I know I made the absolute right decision going with Sherlock and enjoyed a cool house for the first time since moving in. They are simply the best... around!

Enoch K. was the technician who serviced our AC and heating system, today. He was promptly on time and even called us to let us know he was almost at our residence. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, courteous and respectful. He didn't excellent job and is a definite asset to Sherlock Heating and Air-conditioning.
If my wife and I could give 6 stars we would! Carlos, Jojo and Joe installed our new HVAC system today, 31st October 2016. Started the day at 8AM and ending roughly around 615PM. I was impressed by their work ethic, diligence and meticulousness throughout the whole process: set-up to execution and cleanliness after completing the work was top quality. In addition to the installation guru's, our estimator (Trever), was a pleasure to deal with as well. The whole team from top to bottom was awesome and they put up with our 3 dogs all day.
We had a mystery leak which manifested itself as a dark spot on the ceiling above our entry way (directly below the upstairs, guest bathroom). Having been through a major leak in the same area two years ago, I immediately assumed the worst and called Sherlock Plumbing. Anthony came out the next day and examined the spot. Fortunately, I had lots of photos of the work done two years ago which helped Anthony come to a very educated guess as to what was likely causing the leak. He gave me my options and I made my choice based on his excellent explanation. As he got into the project, he showed me the progress and evidence which confirmed his initial thought. I thought I was in for days of destruction and repair followed by days of construction etc. (like we had last time) but instead, he was done with the repair pretty quickly. I'm happy to say, no more leak! Thank you Anthony for taking the time to really diagnose the situation and look at the photos of the prior work and then talking me through my options.
My experience with Sherlock was as good as it gets. We purchased a new a/c system and replaced our two furnaces. From my initial contact (by email) when they responded within minutes until the job was completed there was excellent communication. Justin, the sales rep, was thorough and knowledgable and patiently explained our several options.
The installation crew of J.R., Joe, JoJo, Joseph, and Danny clearly knew what they were doing. They were polite, friendly, willing to answer questions, and professional. I had no qualms about having five strangers in my house at one time. Even my dog liked them! Sherlock's price was competitive, their service unbeatable.
Great, professional service from Jared - not only did he work efficiently, but also took the time to answer questions, give options to the needed repairs and even cleaned and fixed an air filter after the air conditioner was repaired. Want to thank Aaron, Jeff and Jeff, and the other members of the team that worked relentlessly to identify a significant but extremely elusive problem in a newly installed system. With a high degree of patience and persistence, and cost to Sherlock, the team was able to find the issue and solve the problem. Living in comfort now during this extremely warm period. These guys hung in there for an extraordinary amount of time and effort to get this done. I appreciate that commitment to customer satisfaction and problem resolution.
I have a mini split heating and air unit and I called Sherlock to see if they could add the refrigerant and connect the exterior unit. There are just a few wires that need connected. They said because I didn't buy the unit from them they weren't interested.
Been using Sherlock for a couple years. Jared and Eric came out for the yearly check/tune-up. Both were super friendly, informative, timely, and put on shoe protectors whenever they came in the house! They told me as well as showed me what needed maintenance and eventual fixing and WHY. We had both the heating and AC replaced with a Lenox system. The installation team had several issues that we had to flag. We had them come back a second time to fix a few of their mistakes. I selected Sherlock since they were represented at COSTCO. We had to postpone a trip to fix the install issues. The good news is the system seems to be operating fine after the second update.
Had another great experience with Sherlock! This time we needed the dryer vent cleaned out. They worked with us in the schedule, arrived on time and finished the job in good time! Definitely recommend Sherlock!

Great service! Showed up on time and the technician Jared explained everything in detail. Very minor repair but appreciated the explanation. Professional and you can tell he cared about his work. Will definitely call for future needs and have a follow up scheduled for new heat/ac/h2o heater quote.
Our heater wasn't working so I turned to Yelp to find a company and Sherlock Heating and Air conditioning had great reviews.
Pros:
-The company emailed me the technician who was coming out to service the home along with a photograph and bio of him.
- The tech who came out, Eddie was a super nice and courteous. Greeted me and introduced himself to me and gave me his business card. Not really a big deal but it was just really nice that he did that right off the back. Just adds to the email of who was coming to my home.
- Wore shoe covers in our house (we don't wear shoes in the house)
- Fixed the issue
- Nice that everything is done electronically (i.e. the techs carry around an iPad) but on the flip side it wasn't easy for Eddie to navigate around their company's software. Not sure if the system was lagging or if they recently switched to iPads.
- Gave me an explantation of what needed to be done and the different tiered services (which goes into my con).
Cons:
- After Eddie saw what needed to be fixed, he pulls up a 5 tiered service level option on his iPad. It's ranked from Gold, silver, bronze, etc... the last tier is called the bandage level. Well, the bandage level was still $417 and it fixed the issue at hand. Each additional tier upgrade, was a lot more money. I think the Gold was about $1200+. So just to fix the issue at hand, they call it the bandage service which doesn't include anything. I asked what the bandage level included and he said just that. To fix the issue. There was no summary of what services were included because it was the basic of the basic. Well shoot. That makes me feel kinda bad. The other options include a lengthy white glove service, which I honestly didn't think was necessary. That part of it just felt very used car salesman tactic. Maybe call it the basic service instead of the bandage service and include some services or just fluff it up a bit? Make the consumer feel better. haha.
For that and the absurd up-sell of the other 4 tiers that cost an arm and an leg, I took a star off the review. But overall my tech, Eddie was super professional and did a great job fixing the issue and it wasn't his fault that he had to show me the different levels of service he has to sell me, it was his job. But he's a great guy and I would use him again.

Sherlock are not the least expensive, but again, you get what you pay for. We had a great experience. Polite and very helpful service and a flawless replacement of our old furnace. We love our new Lenox AC and our new heater. The Nest thermostat is amazing.
Sherlock has probably the friendliest most polite employees I've ever met but if you have a problem from new installation Rich the manager talks his way out of it being their problem.
We bought a high end furnace and a tankless water heater for $14,000.00.
The day the water heater was installed we got a pin hole leak in our pipe they didn't fix it we had to hire a Plummer to fix it. Then our water pressure has never been the same. We even installed a new regulator and still no pressure. 5 plumbers have told me it's the water heater but Sherlock still won't take responsibility.
Eddie came out for a yearly furnace check and I mentioned our water problem. He clearly saw there was a terrible problem and went above the manager Rich to the owner to try and fix this problem. Because it was still under warranty the owner allowed Eddie to give it a try. Eddie is truly an amazing employee who goes above and beyond every one else and treats it like his own business. He did what he could to try and get our pressure but he was limited to the boundaries of the warranty. I'm thankful for his efforts. He pushed as hard as he could to get our problem fixed.
Water pressure is still not fixed and we will probably have to purchase a new water heater from a new company.
So 5 ***** to Eddie 2** for the Sherlock

We just had a full heating and air conditioning system redone and relocated into our attic including a mini-split added in our man-cave. The installation was complicated and hard on the guys installing the units because it was so hot. I've not seen men working so hard and not one complaint from them. They even went chasing down the street to catch our dogs when they got out of our back yard! Can't say enough about the entire process with Sherlock Heating and Air. If you want the best quality, best service, responsible installers and everything done with integrity, then call Sherlock! Great job Aaron and Becky!!

Hadn't had our AC serviced for about 3 years. Obviously it was time. Called Sherlock to get it serviced and was told they had a special and I could save money if I had AC and Heating systems serviced at the same time. So we hopped on board with that service. Good thing we did because he found (and showed us) we had some wires that had burned and we would have been without AC if left unattended. He did the repair and serviced everything in a very professional and ethical way. Sherlock you are my go to business!!

It's about time I write my long overdue review. I did my research and scheduled several estimates for an air conditioning install. Sherlock overwhelmingly beat out the competition with a thorough consultation by Luc and a solid reputation for taking care of their customers. It's difficult to find great customer service these days, and if it is Sherlock's intention to build the best HVAC company in San Diego, they're doing it right. My install was scheduled for mid-March, but fortunately was moved up by about a week which was awesome. The installers, Eddie and Carlos, were punctual and highly professional and they completed the installation and duct replacement in a timely manner. Sherlock has my highest recommendation for HVAC replacement.

Just had our system maintenance and their service tech Jared, did an awesome job going over our system with us. He answered all of our questions and made recommendations on improvements to the system. We have had our Lennox AC system for about a year and are extremely happy with it. I highly recommend Sherlock.
Just had one of Sherlocks service technicians, Jared come out to give a second opinion on our a/c that another company had said was dead in the water. After doing an inspection the good news is that there in nothing wrong with our heating and air that a good tune up would not hurt. Just have to say that Sherlock heating and air conditioning and the service tech Jared were very professional, up front and straight forward. When the air-conditioner went out at the place I'm renting in San Marcos, my landlord told me to find a company to come check it out. I looked on yelp, and based on the reviews, called Sherlock. Sherlock definitely deserves all the high ratings. They were professional, and even though we scheduled an appointment a few weeks out, they tried multiple times to get the service guy over earlier, and were only not able to because of my own schedule. My landlord was thrilled with the service, and if we ever have more heating or air conditioning needs, Sherlock will be on speed dial.
Live at the beach, never thought I would need A/C but the past few years have been difficult without it. I reached out to several heating/air companies for guidance and quotes. I was visited by Alex from Sherlock and after a lot of time in my attic he said he had some ideas . 3 proposals from Sherlock using different equipment and at different price points, everybody loves choices right?
Once we selected a plan, they were immediatly to work, finishing in 1.5 days. Great job, great guys, great company!

I have to say this could have been worse like 1 star to no star. But thanks to Billy , Donny , and his team that worked at our location on 4/23/2019 changed our minds completely.
It started off as a really good sale at a decent price. Curtis Workman our Sales person informed our office, which is a busy medical urgent care keep in mind, that the team will come work on the building and will arrive at 7 am and start working in the inside of the bldg and at 9 am when our office opens for business they will have everything done in the inside and just have to work on the outside of the bldg requirements. He also stated that if they could not complete the inside in the morning then they would come back the following day and repeat the 7 am to 9 am plan.
*Working in a medical office that would have been an ideal plan so we agreed it was a done deal as long as Curtis Workman made his word that he would inform all staff coming into the medical office to be ready to move to the outside at 9 am so we can open up for business.
On 4/23/2019 Billy, Donny and his team came in at 8 am and set up shop to begin there job tasks. Billy was extremely professional and informed our office of what will be done. Of course thinking Curtis informed the team of the agreement we went on and let them continue there tasks with no interruptions to help for-fill the agreement we made with Curtis Workman. About 5 minutes until 9 and all rooms of the office including front waiting room was still plastic up and in full dusty workforce due to the drilling and access to attic we started to worry. We asked Billy what time he thinks the inside of the office will be complete due to our agreement being at 9 am. Billy stated they will most likely be complete from everything inside and out by 6 pm.
*At this point we had realized Curtis Workman did nothing we had asked and pretty much just said anything in his power to sell us the job. Which by the way we would've purchased it anyway because that why we contacted them. Also, realized he did nothing to communicate with Billy and Donny's team in-regards to what was promised.
After contacting the main office and trying to reach Curtis Workman, which by the way was still after 2 hours no where to be found, we requested to talk to his higher up. We were then informed that Jeff the office manager and Curtis Workman will be coming in to over see Billy and Donny's team.
Around 12 pm Jeff the office manager and Curtis Workman walked into bldg walked right passed the staff not stating anything (no hi, my name is or anything). Jacqueline (Office Manager at the Urgent Care) was outside and Billy the construction team called Jacqueline. Billy kindly took the time to say I would like you to meet my boss Jeff and then introduced us. Jeff stated well we could moved out the front 2 rooms and so the urgent care can open and we can continue to work until we are all out of all the rooms. Jacqueline stated we can not do that due to OSHA and as well as HIPAA violations in the Medical Law. It is also a safety hazard for patients due to the dust particles floating around. Jacqueline informed Jeff of the promises stated by Curtis Workman and apparently lied about just to get the percentage of his sale. Jacqueline also stated to Jeff that Billy and his team have been really understanding and are doing there job at perfection and that the miscommunication errors and mistakes are to only be blamed against Curtis Workman not the Harding working team that are actually do the job! Which by the way had not one word was said from Curtis the whole time he was in the office and also he did not get any consequences for anything except for probably great on landing the sale.
***So, the final outcome was we stayed closed for a whole day, which all business owners especially in a medical office is a REALLY BIG LOSS!**
I have to say in my own opinion the only people that deserve any BIG THANKYOU and the YELP RECOGNITION is for BILLY, DONNY , and his HARDWORKING TEAM !! THOSE BOYS DESERVE 10 STARS AT THAT !! And yes they did get done with everything by the time Billy stated and promised Thanks Billy !!
Overall there equipment and working team as well as the business overall is definitely something I would recommend to anyone ! Great job Sherlock Plumbing Heating & Air !

I own a townhome out here, and my friends are renting it. The air conditioner stopped working, so I posted on Facebook requesting recommendations from my San Diego friends. One of my college professors from the past told me I had to use Sherlock, that they were the best, so we tried them. The technicians name was Jared Stein-Roe and he was GREAT! I was very impressed with Sherlock Heating and Air Conditioning. My tech, Brendan, arrived early and was incredibly professional. He took the time to properly assess the job to provide the most accurate quote possible. My laundromat was needing a ductwork overall. Needless to say, it took a couple of techs working the challenging problem to show me these guys knew what they're doing and they cared about doing a quality job! We used Sherlock to install new ducting, and whole house heat and a/c. We found them through the Mission Valley Costco. The company is the epitome of customer service. The whole process was fantastic. Justin our sales rep was great and Billy and Danny on the install team were very courteous. At the end of each day our home was left clean. This review is for my Mom since she does not have a YELP account. Mom (Lena) decided after 40 years she wanted her furnace to be replaced as it was better to be safe than sorry. This was a really nice experience for her. Neil Nath has been very helpful and patient with the entire process. He knew she was not good with the computer and made a special trip for her to sign papers, being both professional and approachable. Our technicians Gregory Goulding and Anthony Torres were very patient in explaining each process, keeping her informed all of the way. They kept the work area clean and were considerate in showing her how everything worked (If you know my mother, you know that this task can take awhile, haha). Everytime she called the office, Geoffrey Cira was always helpful in answering her questions and any concerns she may have. She had a great experience with Sherlock! You can tell that all of their employees take great pride in their job.
We waited a week for a Sherlock technician to come out and look at our broken AC, but it was well worth the wait. The lady we talked to on the phone was courteous and funny, gave us an accurate schedule, and made us seem valued. When Enoch finally made it out, he was right on time and fixed the issue quickly and with no problems. He suggested we join the VIP Club and we were happy to do so to continue this level of service. Had great customer service again from this business and their team of experienced and knowledgeable technicians. Two guys both named Jared came and spent the day giving all of my air conditioning and furnaces the annual tune-up and changing of filters. We have a large property with multiple units. Not only were they very professional, friendly and speedy, but they took the time to explain some of the challenges we were having and found a leak which they ordered the part and will return to repair free of charge. We are thrilled to work with this company!

Sherlock Plumbing, Heating and Air replaced our furnace and air conditioner this week. They were very professional and worked very clean. Jesse showed me the duct work on his I-pad from our attic so I could see what was an issue. He fixed the duct work and again showing me the new duct work. He helped me set up my phone app for the Nest Thermostat. He was very helpful. I am very pleased and will definitely have Sherlock help with additional issue if any arise.
A few months back I joined Sherlock Heating and Air conditionings VIP program mainly because I wanted piece of mind my system would be checked regularly and repairs made to keep it working efficiently and hopefully at a cost savings. Today we had repairs done on our heating unit. Brendon did the initial assessment and was here today helping out. He was very good letting us know what we needed to bring our unit into spec. He was courteous, very professional and personable. The team worked very fast and cleaned up after themselves very nicely. If you are looking for a good business you can entrust your HVAC system to check these guys out. Also check out their VIP program it is a good deal.

They are more diligent than others. We had another company come look at our commercial HVAC unit for the same issue that Sherlock was able to solve. The other company told us they recommended a new unit because our unit was old and on it's last legs. The Sherlock technician, Fred, was very diligent and successfully fixed what the other guys could not figure out. It seems like the other guys didn't even want to take the time to figure it out. Those other guys should stick to plumbing.
Sherlock's pricing is reasonable and they do what they say, I had a great experience from the first call and I will be using them for all my HVAC needs. THANKS from the guys at the office!

Many thanks to Sherlock Heating and Air. This is the second time they have come to my house. The first was to update all of the ducting in the attic and improve the flow of cool air to the bedrooms. The old system was outdated, broken, and all the insulation was falling off the galvanized tubing. I was wasting money by cooling my attic. The second was to move a register from the wall to the ceiling so I could create a feature wall in the living room. Jared was exceptionally professional, on-time, and fast. I will gladly call Sherlock again if I EVER have air conditioning, furnace, or ducting issues. Jared deserves a bonus!
Neil, Greg & Anthony were all very professional. They all went above & beyond to make sure the issue with my heater was properly taken care of. Greg & Anthony did a great job with the repair I needed and completely cleaned up after their work was complete.i would highly recommend Sherlock.
I can't believe how bad the service has been with this company. Given their good reviews, I had them come out to check 2 wall furnaces that were not functioning properly. They charge a flat service fee but deduct it if other work is done. Derrick, arrived on time, but when I asked if he was familiar with this type of wall furnace his answer was less than confidence-building. He turned them on, said 1 had a loose wire (though could not show me where it was loose) and the other, which I had told him would run for a while then shut off randomly, was on so he waited 15 minutes then said it seemed fine. An hour after he left, it went off as usual, so I had to call him back. Apparently, he did not actually test any of the components on his first visit (which, mind you, was the point of the first visit), but after testing on the 2nd visit, determined I needed a new part. He also was required he said to give me a $2000 quote for a full replacement if I preferred that instead of just the $190 for the part. He asked what day would be good for coming back with the part, agreed on the following Wednesday and ... that's the last I heard. I called a week later, spoke to Bob the sales person, who said he saw nothing in the record and Derrick was on vacation but he didn't think a part had been ordered. He texted me a few minutes later to confirm he didn't think a part had been ordered but he'd be back in touch. Well, it's yet ANOTHER week later, and though I texted Bob a few days after his last message asking for a status update, I've heard NOTHING, AGAIN! My heater still not working. I honestly cannot believe the poor service. Bob, is a very smooth talker and clearly is a good sales person, but follow up, knowledge, customer service do not seem to be a highlight of the company. I would not recommend and have asked them to refund the visit fee since they are not completing the work I requested.

These guys are simply awesome from start to finish. I feel so lucky that I came across them on yelp as I had Sears & ASI come to my house for quotes and they were both mediocre @ best. ASI wouldn't call me back after calling them 3 times and Sears was ok but the they weren't even close to as thorough as Sherlock was.
Bottom line is that these guys @ Sherlock were top notch from start to finish and I had the most thorough consult out of anyone I've spoken with in regards to my hvac. They went over everything from thermostat options to air filtration options etc. They were here when they said they were going to be, called a day before to remind me of my appointment and even worked with me on their initial price quote. They also went above and beyond and did everything from dry wall repair to caulking and offered to paint the spot where my old thermostat was. I would highly, highly recommend them.
Fantastic Service. Jared fixed a wiring problem after double checking his diagnosis. This company installed the heater and thermostat, and when they said they would do quality work AND follow up, they meant it! Could not be more satisfied, and happy to pass along this business to my clients.
The day we discovered that the A/C lin within our condo walls and ceiling had an un-repairable leak was not a good day. Replacing the line appeared to be and in fact turned out to be a major effort. My wife checked on line and found Sherlock Heating and Air Conditioning had strong recommendations from previous customers so we arranged a meeting for a bid.
Jeff was our contact. His background as a project manager with Sherlock proved to be benefit in analyzing how the repair would be handled. We received a bid we felt was reasonable for the work and actually had the work done 3 days ahead of schedule because of an opening in their schedule.
Our work team of Scott and Reuben arrived and immediately got to work. Replacing the line actually took two days of difficult and challenging work on their part. The work area was properly covered in plastic to protect our condo from a good deal of dust and debris and the clean up and dry wall repair was excellent.
We can recommend Sherlock's work very highly. The effort required to run the line within the walls and ceiling of our condo was far more intense than we even imagined, and they tackled the job with a can-do attitude. Thumbs up for the team at Sherlock Heating and Air Conditioning!
Nick Colantuono came out to service my system. He was professional and knowledgeable. He had high end quality test equipment. I have much experience with AC, being EPA certified myself as well as facilities experience. So if you need a good AC company give them a call and if available ask for Nick!
Sherlock heating and Air Conditioning has great customer service. When I called to make my appointment they told me they will try to get somebody to come out at 5 PM, knowing that late work normally doesn't happen I was very impressed that they would even try. Fred Radke the service technician came out at 6 PM and did not leave until after 10 PM. While he was here he did confirm that the air conditioner was working but he was not satisfied that it was going to stay working. He came back the next morning at 10 AM to run his final diagnostic checks. The air-conditioner blows colder air than it ever has before and the service provided by Fred is some of the best service I've ever received. I highly recommend this company and especially Fred.
They came one day and did a diagnostic and told us exactly what was wrong with our system. They came the next day and replaced the coil which was leaking. Excellent service by JR and reasonably priced. We will use them in the future if necessary.

Over the years we have rarely been disappointed in Costco's choices of whom they invite into their stores to represent them. So when, after San Diego's last brutal summer, it was decided to upgrade our aging furnace and add central air, Costco seemed the logical place to start. That subsequently led us to to Sherlock and our trust was certainly not misplaced. What a great group of people! It was apparent from the very outset that the personnel of this HVAC business really has it together. They communicated with each other, as well as with us, throughout the entire process with no glitches or surprises.
Our crew, Eddie and Carlos, talked us through each phase of the project and for four days explained what they were doing....then did it impeccably. They managed to install the new ducting in one or two of the tightest crawl spaces (with some help from a more diminutive Frank for a couple of days) and creatively ran new wiring so as not to have the conduit exposed unbecomingly. Kudos! They were all hard workers, obviously efficient and very tidy. Each morning Tina from the office would give us a heads-up phone call to let us know exactly when the crew was due to arrive. Although there were challenges, these guys performed flawlessly and professionally, from start to finish.
We now have a state of the art HVAC system exactly as Marc, the sales rep., described to us and are very happy we chose Sherlock as our contractor.
After days/weeks of researching and getting mutiple estimates on replacing both my furnace and AC unit. A huge investment for me so I wanted to make sure I was going to receive quality units and most importantly professional installation. After my first intial meeting with Joe who was very patient in taking the time to educate me on the various tons/seers etc LOl I'm now an expert :) and can talk the lingo, to Dustin who answered my 101 questions and honored my requests, to Samantha who worked around my schedule.
Tyler and and Eric arrived on time for the installation were very professional and courteous asked if I had any questions or concerns...
(they were also very kind to my dog so that kinda says it all JK)

Sherlock installed a new furnace and A/C unit in my home this week. The two installers, JR & Alfredo were excellent. They answered all my questions and did a top notch job on the installation. I was also impressed that our Sales Rep, Justin stopped by during the install. Would definitely recommend Sherlock to friends & neighbors.
Awesome job!!! Fantastic attention to detail! Installed a zone system with the new HVAC system. They spent extra time to ensure every duct connection and every register was sealed and to ensure the duct lines provided the best air flow possible. They explained what was being done throughout the process.

We have bee using Sherlock for about four years. We needed a new heater and all new duct work in the attic and they did an amazing job. Last year in the middle of our September heat wave our air quit working. When they came out it took them about two minutes to find the problem and fix it. He suggested we get there service contract, and we did. I am so happy we did, because last week, in this Septembers heat wave, our air quit working again. Because we have the service contract with them they were out the same day. Dwayne found the problem right away and stayed for almost two hours to make sure it was going to work properly. He showed us what the problem was and how to spot it if it were to happen again. I am recommending them and the service contract to my friends. Thank you again Dwayne.

Review of Mom's furnace replacement by Sherlock Heating and AC.
*Site Inspection and Proposal*
Trever and a partner came out for the site inspection to replace my mother's 32-year-old furnace. This took about an hour, including discussions of different furnace options and manufacturers, and replacing 50-year-old duct work with asbestos insulation. They went back to their office, put together a proposal, and got it out to me.
*Actual Installation Process*
This was marred by a work crew who called in sick on Monday morning, after the MLK holiday. This set the installation back by 1/2 day, and resulted in me needing to stay at Mom's house an extra day, through Wednesday. Sherlock called at 7:30 Monday morning to let me know. They were finally able to get a crew out by 1pm. I think the original expectation was that they could finish in a solid 2-day window, but it ended up spilling over into the 3rd day, which affected my schedule since I live about 57 miles north and had planned to go home Tuesday evening and return on Thursday.
The furnace and duct work was completed around noon on Wednesday. The duct pressure inspector showed up Thursday and pronounced it good. I scheduled the city inspector to come out about a week later. He glanced at the new furnace, saw the Sherlock name on it, and breezed right through the inspection. He seems to hold this company's workmanship in high standing.
*Customer Service*
Sherlock was proactive in making sure that I knew what was going on and what the next steps should be. They helped with the scheduling the duct pressure inspection and with information for scheduling the city inspection. They also offered the loan of a ladder for the city inspector so he could look at the roof - Mom didn't have one.
*Overall*
- This was a well-planned and well-executed process from beginning to end, except for the initial installation team's Monday morning illness. I do understand that employers cannot always control this.
- Total time - 3 days for furnace and duct work, 1 day scheduled for a vent pressure check (less than 2 hours actual time), and one day scheduled for the city inspection (about 20 minutes total time).
- FWIW, the Sherlock-branded furnaces are manufactured by Goodman Air Conditioning and Heating. Goodman seems to have a wide range of products, all made in the USA, and they seem to have good warranties. And yes, I *am* partial to buying American.
- Sherlock is not the low-cost leader. However, the whole experience went well (except for the sick crew) and the new furnace is doing it's job for my mother. If the house is sold, I will expect no fallout related to the work done. And at the end of the day, that's what I want. No issues.
I would use Sherlock again if the need arose, and will likely recommend it to others in the North County area.
We had an A/C unit and new furnace installed in our home in the Shadowridge area of Vista. Justin, our sales rep, and his team were a joy to work with. He came over and house sat when I had to run an errant during our installation. Everything is working great. Our new units run quiet and efficiently. We're already saving money on our utilities.

We took several bids for installing A/C in our older home. Sherlock was not only the most financially reasonable bid we got, but we also found that their thorough analysis of our options gave us great confidence in the decision-making process. The Sherlock staff is courteous, experienced and knowledgeable. Over and over again, we heard Our goal is to make sure our customers are satisfied and happy with our work, and we definitely are! Before they left, our project manager, Billy, made sure we knew what our new system can do, and how to use it effectively. He and his crew left everything in tip-top shape -- the only evidence that we had this major installation done, is that we have a quiet, well-tuned air-conditioning system in place, as we look forward to summer in Coronado!

I just had my new furnace and air conditioner installed by Sherlock Plumbing, Heating, and Air. It was purchased through Costco. They were quick to call me and set up an appointment. Neil came out to look at my ancient furnace, peek inside the attic, and we discussed where the a/c would go. He spent over an hour with me and we went over pricing and the 10% Costco Cash Card made this a great deal. I had to have asbestos removed before I could proceed with installation.
The technicians who came to do the installation (Tyler, Eric, and Tony) arrived within the allotted time frame and got started right away. They were very focused and worked hard the entire time they were here, hardly taking any breaks. It rained off and on the entire day, but they laid down a tarp in the entryway and hall where they'd be working. At the end of each work day, they swept and vacuumed the floor before leaving, which was greatly appreciated. I was also pleased that they took all their garbage with them instead of filling up my personal bins. Tyler kept me apprised of how everything was going. The installation of both the new furnace and a/c (my house has never had a/c) was complete in two days. These guys were friendly, courteous, and efficient! Tyler showed me how to use the new thermostat and my house was nice and toasty warm last night and this morning. It will be wonderful to use the a/c in the summer during the hottest days (I'm done suffering and sweating).
Overall, my experience with Costco and the entire team at Sherlock was seamless and positive. I highly recommend going this route if you need a new furnace or a/c!

I thought I did a review but can't find it. I have been very pleased with Sherlock. I called for a tune up and wanted to use the previous worker because he was that good. No luck there. They sent Mike Young instead. He was fantastic. Kudos to Sherlock for hiring good competent people. I will be asking for Mike next time.
Sherlock did a great job repairing my raised foundation air duct but I had to ding them for 3 reasons: 1) They were an hour late getting to my house. They were supposed to be there at 8am and didn't arrive until after 9am. The tech apologized saying they got their wires crossed. So, that's ok, but then 2) He tried to upsell me on having extra work done instead of simply doing the repair that I requested. This added at least another hour on to the visit. Finally, 3) They were supposed to send me pictures along with the receipt and after I called requesting a receipt, there were no pictures, so I had to follow up once more and yes, they did get the pictures to me. Both of the guys they sent out were very professional and super nice and quality of work was excellent. Just wish it hadn't taken a 3-4 hour chunk out of my day.
Neil from Sherlock came over to inspect our house and air and furnace needs. He was the most thorough and competent expert we have had after multiple estimates. Very friendly and efficient and explained various options that were possible.
Jared Stien-Roe was so helpful with figuring out why one of the rooms in the house wasn't getting any air. He was very professional, funny and super nice made us feel right at ease came up with a great solution that wouldn't cost us anything. Excellent customer service.
I recently needed to replace my way-overdue HVAC at my condo. I got four estimates from firms, including Sherlock (who were participating through a Costco/Lennox program.) Alex Stott provided an excellent review of my system, asked me questions to refine his assessment of my needs, and gave me an estimate for three different levels of system. Each level explained in detail what would be provided.
Moreover, of the four firms that came out to bid the job, only Sherlock recognized and included replacement of the 35+-year old refrigerant lines.
I agreed, and they had an opening to do the work this past Friday. Right on time, Jeff and Bill showed up to begin the work. It was a long day for both of them, assisted by Alex and Travis, but the resulting installation was very impressive. I'm thrilled with their service and the new heat pump system, and glad I made the right choice in selecting Sherlock to do the work.
Jared did a great job. Iwe had a difficult air conditioner problem, and Jared and the Sherlock team came up with an innovative solution!

Sherlock installed our replacement furnace December 2012. You'll be in very good hands with these guys, especially as regards customer care and a long-term relationship.
We ended up with the wrong furnace for our situation at first. Sherlock's owner Aaron, and his assistant Alex switched out the furnace for the correct one at probably expense and inconvenience to themselves. It was handled in a courteous no problem way. I've contacted Sherlock 2 or 3 times since by email with operational questions, and the response has always been prompt and helpful.
We also had a whole house air purification system added since, which is powered by having the furnace fan on low all the time. I love it, much better than the single room air purifiers I had been using.

We recently purchased a 100-year-old house in South Park, and amazingly the only heating the home had was a single gas wall heater. With old single-pane windows and no insulation, needless to say the wall heater did little to heat up the house. Not sure how previous residents over a 100-year-span got through the winters -- yes, this is San Diego, but it gets plenty cold here when you don't have adequate heating.
We met Bob Goode from Sherlock at a home & garden show, and arranged for him and 4 other companies to come out and bid on installing a furnace and duct work. Bob was very professional, courteous and patient from the get-go, and we got a good vibe about Sherlock, but did our due diligence by getting multiple bids. In the end, we followed our gut and hired Sherlock. Cost-wise, they were on the lower middle end of the range of bids we got, and by far seemed the most professional. And from all of our research, it seemed the conventional wisdom was to choose based on the company doing the installation, rather than based on the furnace brand.
Matt and Anthony did the installation, which involved delicately cutting holes in our 100-year-old plaster ceiling, installing the duct work and vents, and installing the furnace (including connection of gas line) in our attic. Like Bob, the installers were professional and courteous, and also respectful of our home. Unfortunately, the work left a layer of plaster dust all over every surface in the house; this was to be expected, but had they advised us of this in advance, my wife would have left the house for the two days they were working. To their credit, though, the company offered to send out a maid service at their cost to clean up the dust. (And also, the installers did clean up after themselves in general.)
There were a couple of minor things that required follow-up visits, but they were very responsive and accommodating about taking care of those things.
We're first-time homebuyers, so felt somewhat like we were making a blind choice with hiring an HVAC contractor. But now that that's behind us, we highly recommend Sherlock to anyone needing such a service provider; and we'll be calling them back if we decide to install A/C, or if we have any service needs in the future. Thanks for the great service experience, guys!

I had a great experience with Sherlock, from start to finish! Justin met with me and spent a few hours walking me through the current condition of my system and what Sherlock can offer. I had budget limitations and it was refreshing to see Justin work within them, instead of pushing against it. Billy was my tech and he did an incredible job installing the system. He found several changes in conditions (I.e. Fill old nail holes in drywall, reroute copper pipe for ac, etc) and still completed them without asking for extra, which was probably warranted. Billy left the site better than he found it. Highly recommend this company for your air conditioning and heating needs.

Unlike two other AC companies we met, the company has a staff who are knowledgeable, skilled, and extremely attentive beginning with presenting all options for installing a new AC and replacing existing heating including taking us step-by-step the process, technicians working efficiently with deliberation and connected us on all aspects of the install including location of condenser (and syncing thermostat to my mobile phone), and an office personnel maintaining an open line of communication in apprising updates of schedules and what to expect. Most importantly, we are extremely happy with the Lennox unit installed with iComfort WiFi.
Just had an A/C checkup by Nick. He was extremely knowledgeable and courteous. His suggestions on proper usage was very helpful and will save us $$ moving forward. Thanks Nick and Sherlock!

We just had heating & air installed in our two story home and are very pleased with the quality of work, ease of transaction and professionalism by Sherlock. We LOVE our high tech system with all the bells and whistles :) it is so user friendly and looks so much better than the old yellowish control panel from the 70's.

Bought a Yelp offer for these guys after reading all the positive reviews. As advertised, they are courteous, prompt, professional and respectful.
Their service tech showed up on time to do a routine AC check on my unit. He crawled up into the attic and checked the furnace, and then did the AC check. They sold me on adding a 2nd drain pan to my furnace in the attic as a preventative measure. The service was $199, they gave me 15% off. One thing I didn't do because I was in a hurry was really question the fee on the breakdown - normally I'd ask what the part cost for the pan was and then breakdown the time it takes and figure out the labor rate. If I could give Yelpers any suggestions on that it would be to ask those questions of any contractor.
However, I don't view that as a negative, merely something I forgot to do. The technician also took every opportunity to ask about everything with the AC including the thermometer, and make recommendations on brands we should consider for when things break in the future. They also tried to sell me on the yearly maintenance, contract, something I chose not to do - however they were not pushy about it and very courteous when explaining the benefit vs cost ratio.
It's hard to find good contractors for around the house work, and I would definitely recommend the company and staff at Sherlock for their courtesy, speed, and professionalism.
Oh and by the way - Yelp Deals rock - save some money by purchasing the Yelp Deal before you call. I got the standard service of $89 for only $59 with Yelp, worth every penny.
Sherlock called us back right away - unlike many other AC companies. They confirmed our appointment day before and of and Nick our repair person was right on time. Nick came out twice and ultimately solved our problem. The AC works beautifully now. Both Nick and the inside customer service reps were professional and courteous. I would definitely recommend them for AC service.

Our experience with Sherlock has been second to none...
About 6 weeks ago we commenced the get quotes / estimates to replace our dead old HVAC unit.
Funnily enough I solicited 8 vendors, of these only 4 took the time to get involved in our quest.
I have to say that Alex Stott, the companies field agent and expert really knows his product. Better yet he takes the time to explain everything so even a foody person like me ultimately understands.
Alex took the time to properly match our needs, to the equipment and budget we could entertain.
Everything was spelled out in black and white.
Additionally the 2 servicement that did our install, Paul and Vince were exceptional at their jobs and majorily customer service centric.
Everything has gone to plan.
Thereby I will always refer potentials to this company and we will always call on them first.
Thank-you, a major KUDOS to this company - keep it up and get others to follow suit!
Justin the sales agent, was great, very patient and responsive. The gentlemen who came in to work on the installation were great, explained everything and very respectful and clean. I had the unfortunate luck of having a lemon which is very rare but they were able to figure that out and get me a whole new unit. With their no lemon policy, I felt very secure. It's more pricey than some of the other companies but you can't beat the customer service. I had a check up recently with an agent that I had not had before and he was not so great at communicating with me and I needed up having to email the company for clarification but I decided that I would not rate my review lower just because of him. In EVERY other circumstance I have had excellent response time and friendly customer service. And for reference I have had my unit for over 2 years now and works wonderfully.
Based on the reviews i contacted this company to get a quote for installing nest outdoor cameras. Installing these cameras is extremely simple and the main part of the job is drilling holes through the exterior of the house without hitting any piping or electrical. I would do it myself if it wasn't for wanting to avoid hitting those. I reached out to a variety of local installers recommended through nest's website...Sherlock quoted me $449 per camera to install. These cameras sell brand new on amazon for $157 so they are charging $292 per camera for the driling/mounting part. I would have to guess that an experienced technician could easily do 1 camera every half hour, and doing 1 per hour would likely be extremely slow. If it truly took a tech a whole hour to do 1...they'd be charging $292 per hour for labor. Sorry but I felt like i needed to let everyone know that maybe their work is top notch but the pricing needs to be reasonable. Other quotes for this job from professionals was at around $100 per camera.
Just had a great experience with Sherlock plumbing and heating. There Comfort Technician Jared Stein-Roe was a real pleasure to deal with. Jared's knowledge and expertise was a pleasant surprise. Having to go up in the attic on a 105 degree day would have put a frown on most anyone's face. Jarods attitude was very pleasant and professional. Sherlock installed our mini split system two years ago while we were doing a major remodel. We don't use the air conditioning much, but it seems there is always a glitch to make it cool correctly. Each time they have come out and worked diligently to get it going again. Today Nick Colantuono was the technician that came out. After asking us to explain the problem, he was able to get it going. He made several tweaks and provided instruction on how to use the system most efficiently. We are now very cool inside the house. Thank you Nick for help in getting us back on the cool path.

Hands down, these guys are the best. I had bids from three other highly rated HVAC companies in North County and none of them came close to the technical knowledge and professionalism of Sherlock. My salesman Justin was extremely detailed with my bid and followed up with me immediately with any concerns or questions I had during the process. The installation leads Billy and Donny were extremely professional, efficient and courteous as well. They were always on time and left my home spotless. If you want the best system for the money, go with Sherlock. You might find a cheaper bid but you will be getting an inferior installation. Go with Sherlock, you will not regret it.
I was extremely pleased with the Heating and Air conditioning installation completed last week by Sherlock. From the initial consult on options, help on the decision for best application and pricing for our needs, to the coordination and the install, all went flawlessly. Robert did a great job answering our questions and working with us on customizing our installation with some vent modifications and a third party thermostat. Tina is fantastic on coordination, and BJ with the assistance of Victor did a great job on the installation process. We had a couple quirks in our install and Sherlock handled them with ease, including renting a lift to get the A/C condenser unit over our fence without having to remove the gate. Buying HVAC for an entire house is not an investment to be undertaken without some research. It's probably going to cost more than $15K and will require a crew of techs working in your house for several days. When they are done, you need to get an inspection in order to get permits for the job. That kind of headache seemed like more of a drag than dealing with the few excessively hot or cold days we get here in San Diego. But we met a Sherlock rep at Costco who bid on the job, which was a split level house with a detached studio. The bid was within our budget and the customer service promised a lot, so we went for it. The install crew was friendly, knowledgeable and speedy. They cleaned up after themselves fairly well and came back to fix a minor issue required by the inspector. Sherlock's service and professionalism has been outstanding. I would definitely recommend them.

This company knows customer service. I had a new furnace and ducting installed. On day one, the estimator throughly explained the options available to me. I chose the furnace I preferred and on day 2 the installer came to inspect the site and determine what he needed in supplies to do the job. On day 3, the installer and his helper installed the heating system. It works beautifully and I am a warm and satisfied customer.

Anyone who has a HVAC unit please remember you need to properly maintain this piece of equipment. I failed to and subsequently I had an issue but thankfully for Sherlock it was fixed reasonably.

Sherlock installed my Lennox system four years ago and it does a great job keeping the house environment friendly in heat and cold. Recently the WiFi thermostat developed a headache. Ernie came to my aid solving a difficult troubleshooting problem with persistence and a new thermostat which fortunately was still under warranty.
J.R. and Jeff were out today to add an HVAC air intake vent in the living room at my request. They are excellent. The vent grate was installed after they cut into the sheetrock. Fine job. The system seems to run quieter. They also installed a cover plate for my new Nest thermostat and that looks great. They even vacuumed after. I also must mention the two guys who installed the new HVAC system in one day: Victor and Alfredo. They were pleasant, hard-working, and surprised me by getting a BIG job done in one day. Excellent. Also, I would like to say that Randy was easy to talk to about the sales prices of different systems and didn't bug me. I recommend him. I also liked big Jeff (PA) for doing the full HVAC inspection, cleaning, and service. He also keeps the customer informed via phone. Last, I can't remember his name--a shorter, Latino guy of about 28 years of age. He is a talker, friendly, and originally was my point of contact with Sherlock. This was about 4-8 weeks ago. He did an inspection and service. I like Sherlock. I like my prices.

I rarely, very rarely log into Yelp and even more very very rarely leave any reviews or comments on Yelp, unless something is sooo extremely wonderful and superbly exceptional (or the opposite) in some way that requires that I do so. This review is THAT rare instance. I wanted to take time to praise and thank the two most skilled, most knowledgeable, most experienced, and most professional plumbing technicians (Wesley and Shane) that we've ever had the privilage to have them work at our home. They were dispatched by Sherlock Plumbing (which is a very reputable, professional company itself, with exceptional customer service, I might add) via Costco, to remove our old broken, leaking water heater and install a new one, as per warranty (we have an AO Smith water heater). The two technicians arrived very prompt, professionally greeted us and introduced themselves. They got straight to work, without delay, and had all their tools and equipment. To summarize what would become too long a highly rated review with so many details, i will say this: their level of expertise is off the charts (I have never met plumbers with this much technical knowledge and skill and experience and command of their work); their awareness of safety and plumbing code is amazing; their thorough cleanliness of the work area and high respect for a client's home/garage/property (to keep clean and safe) is unheard of and a first I have ever seen; their speed and accuracy (removal of old water heater and all parts, old and pipe cutting and installation; welding/soldering; placement of new water heater; etc.) is shocking (in a great way!); their immaculate attention to the details of all their work (never missing any parts or tools or components nor forgetting any steps or testing or checking or necessary adjustments; in other words... they do everything RIGHT, no shortcuts, no lazy half-ass anything... its all correct and up to code!) is mind-boggling; their energy and work ethics is very high; they work together perfectly as a cohesive unit or as a smooth two-man team (no hiccups or issues at all) who helps each other constantly and two-way communication is also clear and continuous; and their professional and/or safety suggestions are always helpful and appreciated (suggestions are never solicited; only asked in advanced), such as them recommending us to replace our old washer inlet tubes (rubber material, which can leak or burst over time and cause flooding in laundry rooms) with a safer, high-quality, no-burst metal-weave type that will last (that's a great tip!), based on their many years of experience. I can go on further, but thats the jist of it. The two technicians did not ask nor mention to me to write a positive review at all, I was just so compelled to do so on my own free will to praise Sherlock Plumbing for sending the best plumbers I have ever seen. Thank you! Its one of those things, you know... the work, the product, the results, or the thing just speaks for itself? It's that! Yes, the quality of work (and customer service and professionalism) was sooo high, and so beyond expected, you can't just wrap up and not leave the customer awe-struck. My AC unit broke down during that heat streak in late September/October 2012. Sherlock office personnel and field mechanics (Carrie, Matt and Aaron) were very professional and informative with the various problems that I was having with my AC unit at my rental property. They provided great customer service and patience when explaining the optional solutions.
They helped me coordinate the installation with my tenant and finalizing the city permit, keeping me in the loop during the entire process.
Based upon the final inspection by the city, Sherlock returned to add sealant around the furnace to keep the garage fumes/dirt/debris from getting sucked in.
They were fair in price and gave me a discount for the AC/Furnace replacement, as I already had troubleshooting services performed and refridgerant added earlier in Year 2012.
We've have been so happy with Sherlock's installers and staff... Truly a professional team! I especially am impressed with Eddie (one of the installers/engineers), he is a bulldog when it comes to trouble-shooting... He was able to find an issue we had and didn't quit until he found a fix. He didn't even take a lunch break for several days just so he could find the problem. Bravo on being a bulldog!
Eddie was courteous and attentive. He recommended some maintenance that we didn't think we needed and didn't try to push us to do it. We've been customers since Sherlock started and it's nice to see they have a big customer base now.
I just had Sherlock heating and air installed Lennox system at home. The price was a little more expensive than the others that we recieved quotes on, the installation was longer than we expected (almost 2 and half day in total) and we ran into some unexpected issues during installation and post-installation. However, the install crew (Joe and Chad) did an amazing job to keep us informed and worked with us to resolve issues. They were on time, courtesy and friendly. They were willing to stay late to finish up the work. After they left, the system was acting up and I had to call Justin (saleperson) at 10pm on Friday night and left him a voicemail expecting that I might not hear from either Justin or Sherlock until next Monday. Amazingly, Justin called me back at 7:30am today (Saturday) and promised to take care of the issue. Sure enough, Joe, the installer, came back on his day off to fix the problem and made sure the system is up and running again. Kudos to the Sherlock team, especially to Joe, Chad and Justin. You guys are awesome!!! I'll leave a review for the system itself when I have more time with it, but at this point, I think Sherlock team, or at least the team I dealt with, is trying very hard to make it right for their customers. Thank you guys!!!!
P.S. We took a $200 credit up front for using our existing thermostat. And when we changed our mind on the installation day to go with new thermostat, we expected an iComfort thermostat that normally comes with the system. However, we were told that we could only get a Nest instead if we paid back the $200 credit. We were willing to pay $200 back but wanted the iComfort. We ended up using the existing thermostat since we didn't want a Nest. So make sure you know what you get during negotiation.

UPDATE: Jared came out this morning to help resolve our issues. He is single-handedly responsible for me changing my previous 1-star review (and I typed that BEFORE the marketing lady called him and told him to do whatever it takes to change the review.) Jared not only has fixed the heater it seems, but he was very clear about his commitment to high-quality service, and also the process they have been going through to document issues with our unit and so they can submit that to Lennox and possibly get it replaced. That information was very useful and eased our minds; if we had known before, we would not have complained. He also let us know that on the day Dan did not test the heater, it's because he was seriously injured on the job and had to rush to the hospital from our home. Poor guy! If we had been told about that incident we never would have been frustrated at all, and we sincerely hope he is doing well.
I wish Sherlock had communicated with us better about our situation. I was very impressed with the owner's quick reply to my review, but I am disappointed that Aaron's comment on this Yelp review was the very first I'm sorry, we'll do better that I heard from anyone in the company. I really should not need to post a 1-star review to get that, especially since I made my frustration known to Julie several times. A little bit of empathy from the folks on the phone with all the scheduling/ rescheduling issues would have gone a long way, especially today- after telling me earlier this week that I a have an 8:30 appointment, calling me to say, sometime later today I might get back to you to let you know when someone might come by. Of course I am also concerned about the quality of the unit, having needed three repairs since April 2016, but I am happy Sherlock seems committed to resolving that.
At this point I would give Sherlock 3.5-4 stars for customer service,
mostly because they were so responsive to the negative review. (The exception is Jared, who gets 5!), and 1 for equipment. I do feel confident they are committed to offering great future service. From now on were are always requesting Jared!

I was really excited about Sherlock Heating and Air when we first installed our heating system with them, about a year and a half ago. They had to come out a couple of times because of errors they made in installing the system, but they were quick about it and nice. Now, we are having the third issue with our system in about 18 months. Just before Christmas weekend (on Dec 22) I realized our system was blowing cold air. I called and no one responded until after Christmas, which is totally understandable. They are a small business and it was the holiday weekend. However it is now THREE WEEKS LATER and our problem has not been resolved, and the staff there have acted very unapologetic about our experience. Luckily we have been having a warm spell and I know this is San Diego, but we live in East County and it gets in the 40s and even 30s at night. I have two small children and we put space heaters in the kids' rooms but in the morning everyone is freezing!

I first met Arron when I was looking to replace my furance and Air Conditioner he was very knowledgeable and polite. I could tell immediately that he was not a high pressure sales guy or to push me into a system I really didn't need just because it cost more. Just the opposite is true. He really took the time to explain the systems and energy cost on the three choices he gave me and the write up on each which helped make my decision so much easier.
I was extremely impressed with all the workers he sent out to the house to do the work they worked hard and were helpful and professional. Being a single lady and worried about being taken advantage of by contractors these days it's nice to know that I DON'T have to worry about this with Sherlock Heating and Air. Aaron is an honest man and runs a company that truly listens and cares about his customers.
His workers seem to be as dedicated and honest as he is and I would and do recommend him and his company to anyone! Thank you Sherlock for being one of the good guys!

After I post this review which get to the manager's attention, I have got a warm email and guarantee of service going forward as well as refund on the check. They then sent out a service manager coming out the following week to get things tuned up. And the service manager was nice and professional. This is the type of service that I expect to get from a top reviewed local family company. I don't know what went wrong to made all those instances happen, but the manager's prompt actions deserves another chance of trust and I hope that the management of the company will continue to maintain the good reputation. We would love to continue to support local family business as long as it stands to its reputation.

I just had work completed by Sherlock Heating and Air replacing my furnace and air conditioning system. No one to my knowledge loves to spend money on home improvements but if you have to replace or upgrade I can recommend Sherlock and their representatives. Trever was great and providing equipment options and identifying the pro's and cons with equipment packages available without a hard sales approach and the install team of JoJo and Joseph were professional, showed up on time, worked efficiently, provided detailed responses to my questions posed during the install and upon completion provided a good overview of equipment and controls. I recommend them for work if you need to make the change - you will be happy with their team.
We had Sherlock Air come out for the first time to our place to do a routine inspection of our AC unit. Jared Stein-Roe was our technician and was very courteous and professional and gave me an honest assessment of the health of our system. He was extremely friendly and took extra care not to track in any dirt to our home, which was very kind of him. I liked that he gave me several options for repairs/maintenance on our AC unit but did not put any pressure on me to purchase these things right now. I highly recommend this company. In my dealings with Jared and their office, they seem very friendly and honest.
I had this noisy furnace that blasted into my family room so loudly that nobody wanted to to be in there. They installed the intake vent in another room. The difference is amazing...so much quieter. They also checked the air conditioner and repaired some unknown problems. Nice people to work with. I might add they came recommended by a competitor that said they could not even do that type of work.
I couldn't get a quote over the phone and was told only the service men know what the prices were ! I just called Atlas Hvac and they were much more helpful and gave me a quote over the phone !

Just had a 4-ton Sherlock brand AC installed. We have an older house with no existing AC lines. JR and Jo Jo came out to do the install. I'm an engineer so usually that spells trouble for the installers because I'm so particular. These two guys were fantastic, extremely nice, polite, and I have to say it seemed very clear they were interested in doing a good quality job vs. a quick job. It was a big enough install that over the few days I was able to double-check the work and cleanup. A+ on all counts. A few examples; after inspecting the air intake, JR really examined the options and explained what the trade offs were with regards to the filter placements, grills, etc. Ultimately they took the time to seal off the crawl space under our stairs and install ducting to help make the air draw more efficient. Also, I had mentioned that I might want to update my AC panel. JR didn't just give me a number to call, he took the time to take pictures and forward them to an electrician they recommend. Not a big deal but certainly would've been easy to just have me call him; that additional effort was consistent with their work from what I saw. So far, AC up and running no problems, and it came with the Nest thermostat, which is way cool. I'll update later to comment on follow up service calls and system performance. One final note; Sherlock was NOT the low bidder, they were higher than my other quotes, however it is true, you get what you pay for.

My HERO yesterday was TREVOR! I contacted Sherlock through the Costco special, and although I had to reschedule 3 times due to family, car, & work issues, they were always pleasant and cordial on the phone. The last time, my starter need to be replaced and I couldn't get home in enough time for the appointment. They even asked about my car... not even my own kids asked me about that! I was concerned that I'd need an expensive new air-conditioning unit, furnace, or re-ducting since my 2 story town-home was ice cold downstairs and hot upstairs. I had consulted 2 other firms for estimates which varied from $1,200 - $3,000 and was ready for another break the bank estimate. Trevor arrived on time and was a delight to work with; by the way, he deserves company recognition for having integrity and honesty. Trevor knew his product, he didn't oversell, and he really cared about my having a positive experience with Sherlock. As it turned out, he was able to fix my problem using his skill and innovative methods. I was amazed, grateful and will highly recommend Sherlock to whomever needs this service!
We went with Sherlock for a new air conditioner based on multiple recommendations on Nextdoor. It was a very positive experience. The installers, Eddie, Carlos, Billy, Danny, and Ruben were very professional. Eddie also helped towards the end when there was a small billing error which was resolved quickly and easily. They have also walked me through all the steps of permitting and getting a rebate from the city. I've hardly had to do anything which is great. I'm on the last step of getting a final inspection done and think this was well worth the money, especially when summer finally rolls around.
The person who I spoke with over the phone was very helpful and let me know their rates (very reasonable). They called to follow up the day before and the technician they sent was very professional and knowledgeable. The tech even checked that my system was up to code and resolved an issue I knew nothing about.

He got straight to the point and diagnosed my problem...The thermostat was the issue and luckily very easy and cheap to fix. He wasnt pushy to sell us their thermostat since they were kinda expensive. I let him know we would be purchasing one from homedepot. He also went over the service options they had which are all excellent prices and also pointed out some . We will most likely be signing up up for the 2 year agreement. Sherlock completed the installation of my whole-house a/c last week. The entire Sherlock installation team - Jr., Scott, JoJo, Joseph and Jared - was terrific! They worked very hard, presented options when necessary, answered questions and were a very pleasant crew to have in the house for a week. They seemed authentically focused on providing the best possible installation for my home. Sherlock's salesman presented options but never tried to up sell to more expensive units. Other aspects of the sales process (initial scope of work and estimating the length of the project) could have been better but the company responded in a good way when a glitch occurred. And a follow-up visit to correct a small cosmetic issue with the installation was handled very well by Joseph.
Sherlock Heating and Air Conditioning provides quality service! Eddie, in particular, installed the unit in my place and he was great! He clearly knows what he is doing and completes the job in a very respectful and personable manner. His manager, Richard Johnson, is amazing to work with too! I highly recommend this company!

We had Brendon Tracy give our furnace a great servicing. He took his time to answer our questions and carefully investigated a weird dry dripping stain that was leaking onto our furnace. We have had other Sherlock technicians come to our home and each time they have been extremely kind and courteous. This past visit Brendon also installed two surge protectors (inside furnace and outside a.c.) and we really appreciated his knowledge on what exactly they would do. Been having heating thermostat issues and today Brendon came out and replaced the thermostat and thoroughly explained its features and helped me set up the app on my phone to monitor the thermostat. I also had old, outdated carbon monoxide indicators and I wanted replacements for safety reasons. The new ones are also smoke detectors so I'm really happy with the service. Brendon was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I have used this company in the past with the same great service.

Although the job took longer than expected Eddie always told me what time he would arrive which was confirmed each day by Tina. Eddie explained everything and was meticulous. Everything was cleaned up before he left for the day. Carlos helped on the first two days - he was polite and clearly worked hard along side Eddie. The last 2 days Frank helped Eddie. I will definitely recommend Sherlock and tell people to request Eddie as their installer.
Had Sherlock install a new heater and add air conditioning to a home built in 1972. Eddie & Carlos were here for three days doing what I felt was a thorough job on a fantastic new system. I was impressed. Since we had a lot of very hot days this summer, including 104 degrees one day, it will be so nice to know whether hot or cold, we're covered for total comfort. Thanks guys for some great service. This was for a re modeled home in Mira Mesa. I signed up through the program with Costco for this installation and am very pleased with the whole transaction thus far.
Called them based on Yelp reviews to tune up our furnace which hasn't been used in years. Jared came by and was friendly and professional. During his inspection he noticed that the heat exchangers were cracked and immediately stopped the inspection since apparently they are a fire hazard and cannot be repaired so the entire furnace needs to be replaced. He showed them to me using a specially shaped mirror designed specifically to look at heat exchangers and reduced the price to a diagnosis instead of tuneup since the furnace is broken, which was appreciated. I wholeheartedly recommend Jared and Sherlock for any heating service!
Just had Brendan check the furnace and venting. Very comfortable with his knowledge, and he communicated everything so I could understand what the problems were. Sherlock is easy to work with.
Had to call to get someone to look at our a/c unit as we had some problems with moisture and it not putting out cold air. I called Sherlock because I was very impressed with their service as we had an issue with a heater 2 years ago and they fixed it for a very reasonable price with great service. This time our technician was Fred R who was right on time and very polite and professional. Fred got the job done while being very attentive about keeping everything clean while he worked in the house. He just finished and the unit now works great for less $ than what he estimated it would cost. I would definitely recommend Fred and Sherlock Heating and Air

Fred from Sherlock just came to fix our AC. We've been dying due to the heat without air conditioning. But we called them, Fred showed up. Very respectful and nice and fast. Now it's cold and I love it.
Decided to finally pull the trigger on an AC unit for our home. Called Sherlock and one other company for bids. Prices were competitive and overall service was excellent. Mark S was very professional and responsive. He went out of his way to make our experience positive and convenient. The installer, Eddie L, and team were prompt, professional, very friendly and did excellent work. They even came out on a Saturday to accommodate our schedule. Very positive experience, will recommend Sherlock to family and friends.

Saw them at Costco. Estimates only provided upon home visit. Earliest appointment was 6 weeks away after Costco promotion expires (3 other estimates provided in that timeframe, giving me a chance to learn). Estimates provided on plastic-sealed paper (which they could have provided at Costco; they didn't perform any measurements or calculations to determine demand). Provided my email address for written quote and additional information 3-4 weeks ago and haven't heard back. The pre-printed estimate for the Lennox system they offer is 2.5 times that for the estimates I received for similar Carrier, Bryant, and Rheem systems installed by other Yelp companies with ~4 or more stars. I have no experience or comment on their installation, however.

After my last review, their customer contacted me. We went over my concern on the cost, two days ago I got a partial refund.

Sherlock Heating and Air from San Marcos came to my house this past weekend replaced all the old ducting, added ducts to two bathrooms and the den, installed the new furnace and thermostat, completing the job beautifully in less than two days. They were knowledgeable and got the job done to my satisfaction. They were punctual, courteous, hard working and neat, I feel so lucky I discovered them at the Carlsbad Street Fair and thank goodness they told me they would come to Chula Vista, their communication was excellent, letting me know when they were on their way, keeping me informed of their progress, cleaning up as if they were never there. I highly recommend them, they were amazing. I plan to get my A/C installed before spring by Sherlock as well.

After living in our home through two summers we decided to add air conditioning. My husband researched both brands and installers and we settled on Lennox as the brand and Sherlock as the installer. Our salesperson, Marc, was thorough and professional. He inspected our home, listened to our buying criteria and configured a a highly rated, energy efficient AC to add into our existing system. After some additional conversation he presented alternatives that included the replacement of our builder installed heating units. Taking a look at options was very easy as our Sherlock rep was equipped with a wireless laptop and tools that let us evaluate the features and price points of various solutions. We never felt we were being upsold nor talked into anything. In the end, Sherlock replaced our single-stage heating units with two-stage units and installed two, three-ton, two-stage air conditioners. The two-stage system does a great job maintaining a consistent temperature and since it generally only runs at 60% it is quiet and very energy efficient.
The installation team was top notch. Tina, who handled the scheduling was a pleasure, and Billy, Joe and Greg clearly knew what they were doing and took a good deal of pride in their work. They were punctual, laid tarps down to protect our flooring and were careful not to leave a door open as a temptation to our pets. They were really good in communicating what they were doing every step of the way and asked for our input whenever there was a decision to be made. They left everything tidy and ship shape and Billy even asked for some touch up paint for the walls as the new controllers were a little different in shape than the ones they replaced.
Clearly heating and air conditioning is a major expense and we knew going in that Lennox would never be the lowest cost choice but we think the system quality, consistent comfort and energy efficiency will be worth the investment. I am not sure what other brands they carry but my husband and I both felt very good about giving our business to Sherlock and we highly recommend them.
Sherlock came out and diagnosed our AC problem correctly for $69. dirty evaporative coil. His estimate for the repairs - clean coil $338, remove and replace coil $864 - total $1200. our original licensed contractor, that installed the unit 2 years ago, came out and pulled the coil, cleaned it and replaced it for $75. thank goodness, we didn't go ahead with their estimate.
The front office staff were very professional and friendly when I called to make an appointment for an estimator to come out and Wally (the Estimator) was also great. He was professional and friendly and he provided me with a ton of useful info. This is a great company.

We had our heating and Ac systems installed last Nov. 2015.Our consultant Marc was very professional and detailed. Follow up before and after the installation. I was working the day that Jr and Frank installed the system and my husband was out of the house most of the time that day due to appointments. Jr and Frank, they're respectful, trustworthy, hardworking, they cleaned up before they left. They really did an awesome job!
After they installed, the inspector from the city needed to check the system. I just called the office to see if they can get an appointment for me. I spoke to Tina, I just gave her my availability and after few minutes she called me up and she was able to get one for me. I thought after they installed the system I wouldn't hear from them again. But then, I was surprised Allison sent me an e-mail for tune up after few months that was installed. She was very accommodating to my schedule. Last but not least, Brendon Tracy, the technician came on time, friendly, another knowledgeable person, he showed me how to program the keypad, explained and answered all my questions. They installed our néw air condition last year and it was all done top notch. This July 4th weekend it stopped working on a Friday. That night the owner emailed me and assured me it would be taken care of. The next day he came through on his word and fixed it. I was so impressed with the service, espicially on a holiday weekend.
Their installers were courteous, on time and always cleaned up after themselves every day. The only one in particular whose name I remember was Eddie, and he was great. The two stars is for the front office and sales people. No one did an accurate load calculation on my home, and as a result I got an undersized unit and a house not as cool as I was promised. When this was discussed with the management they never provided any real remedy or admitted fault for the sizing issue. It should be noted that Sherlock did not provide the lowest bid for my project. However, I thought I would spend a little more to get better customer service and support in case there was a problem. Giess I was wrong.

An hour after I posted my 1 star review of Sherlock, I got a very nice phone call from them trying to make it right. They promised to refund $50 of their $100 service fee. They also explained that the many recommended fixes and upgrades were to a standard set by the SDGE program they are in. I will take that at face value, and appreciate the refund. I still think a lot of the recommended items are not necessary, and quite expensive.

This review is long overdo, but Yelp didn't exist way back when! It was summertime in Murrieta and my A.C. went out just as I was heading to bed. Within a couple hours my condo heated up to 90+ degrees. It was a rough night! I contacted Sherlock Heating and Air the next morning. They came up and got it working again. I was impressed with the customer service, their ability to diagnose and fix the problem, and the price.

I had a great experience with this company... from sales/quote to the installation. I originally had Sherlock come out last year to quote a new AC installation but we decided to hold off and endure the heat of summer. Boy was that a mistake. It was one hot summer. So this year we decided to pull the trigger on a new AC. While shopping at a big box company that stars with an S and sounds like ears we were approached by a sales person offering home improvements. We told them that we were in the market for AC quotes. So they came out to do a quote the following week and I was sold quickly. However, after signing and some thought after a day, I decided to cancel. I realized that the sales/quote guy just dazzled me with the largeness of the company and really offered valuable info about the AC system he would be selling me. He only poked his head into my attic to check out my furnace. Long story short, I canceled with them and decided to email Sherlock from the quote the previous year. Alex, from Sherlock, responded to my email right away and let me know that they could honor the same price from the previous year! No way! After trading some more emails, Alex worked it so that I could get the BETTER model AC AND add two years of maintenance. SOLD!
Jeff and his team came out on the day of the install promptly at 8am. I showed them around and they got to work immediatly. They were professional and very courteous. They layed tarps out where they would be walking in the house and they even put on booties when walking through my house where there were no tarps! After the install they showed me their work and I was very pleased. It appears to be very clean work. Everything looks great and is working perfectly!

Had Alex out from Sherlock today and once again had an awesome experience. So many companies would have jumped at the chance to sell me something I really didn't need but Alex methodically took me through the 3 different areas I was interested in and explained how I could do it myself if I wanted (and save $), use a less expensive piece of equipment than what I thought I needed and how to use my existing system to better filter the air in lieu of buying additional filters. These guys are absolutely the best. They may not have sold much to me today, but they once again sealed the deal on customer service and when it comes time that I need work done, I'll call Sherlock.

I came home from out of town to find that my upstairs heating unit wasn't working. The thermostat was not functioning at all. I looked online and did some troubleshooting myself but to no avail.
I looked online at reviews of local HVAC repair companies. I left a message for one company that never even bothered to respond. After discussing it with my wife, I decided to call Sherlock Heating and Air Conditioning. Kerri answered the phone and did a great job of taking the time to understand my situation. Originally they couldn't get a technician out to my house right away but Kerri said she'd call if they could get someone out the next day.
She called me this morning to say she had a tech that could come over right away. 10-15 minutes later Matt B. showed up at my door. I was pleasantly surprised that he was able to accurately diagnose my problem in no time. He was clean, courteous, and professional. We agreed upon the repair and he fixed it as promised. He did a great job. The job came with a couple of small challenges, but Matt handled them with professionalism and ease. He made sure my heater worked, and that I understood how to work my new thermostat (that he quickly programmed for me).
From my initial call through the completion of the repair and final bill, Sherlock did a great job! I definitely recommend them.

Our A/C was installed a few years ago by Sherlock. Today, the digital thermostat panel went blank, and our TV stopped working. A circuit breaker was tripped. I called to see if they could figure out why the thermostat was tripping the circuit, or disconnect it until the scheduled Friday appt., so we could watch TV. Matt from Sherlock came out to tell me how to do that, as he was in the area.
He decided to investigate a little, as there was no power at all to the furnace, not just the thermostat. After a lot of investigating, he heard a pop, and found an outlet in our living room was damaged and smelled like it had burned. He said he could fix it, but would need to move it a little, as there was no give in the wire. After he cut in to the wall, he discovered wet insulation. He then went to the other side of the wall, which is in the garage, and cut in and found a leaky copper pipe, which was running down the wire and causing the problem.
Needless to say, Matt probably saved us from our house catching fire! What was supposed to be a quick fix until Friday turned into a 5+ hr. job, fixing the leaky pipe, fixing the electrical, and getting us back up and running with only a few holes to be patched and painted.
Matt went above and beyond, and we are really grateful to him for everything, and would recommend this company to anyone! They are extremely honest and reliable.
Caleb w/ the Sherlock repair team came out to fix a leak from my office A/C. He was clean and efficient and quiet (I was working on a client at the time). He also showed me the broken part and explained how it happened.

Not a fan. One of their staff came out. We wanted to get my AC and furnace cleaned/ checked since we hadn't had it done in the 2 1/2 years we've lived here. The guy came out and was very professional and friendly. Was doing a thorough job. He ends up telling us we need all this stuff done to our AC and furnace in repairs but says he wouldn't bother doing the repairs and we would be better off getting a whole new AC and furnace. $8,000 systems + $2,500 new ducting since it was out of code= $10,500! NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT. Called another company to come out and check our system. Didn't even see any issues, even the repairs that he said needed to be done were not even there. So grateful we didn't waste our money. Won't be using them again.
Sherlock was awesome. Stellar service and stellar product. We had five quotes and by far this one was the best price and quality.
They book for appointments 2-3 weeks out which I think is a little ridiculous. We chose another company!
I had Matt come out to work on our vents and take care of some cleaning because my wife has had some allergy issues. Sherlock heating and Air were fast and very efficient. I also know Bob Goode one of the field supervisors and he really takes care of his clients. The entire staff is professional, affordable and proficient.

I have been in sales for nearly 30 years now and have never dealt with a company that has outperformed expectations better than Sherlock. These guys were fantastic!!! We had a very tight window to make this happen as we had a wedding reception in the upcoming week. We gave them 4 days to complete the installation after agreeing to the contract and they pulled it off. They said they would be out by 1:00pm on Wednesday and they were. They even helped me put reload the christmas decorations up in the attic after they were finished. Every one of the employees were friendly and pleasant. They were all professional and efficient and I cant recommend them highly enough. Justin was our salesman and he was fantastic. From the moment the contract was signed he was continually checking in on us and the progress to make sure we were happy with the progress and job. Thank you guys, we love our system!!!!

Sherlock a/c recently did a thorough maintenance on my home a/c for a good price after we had been told by another a/c company that we needed a new system at approximately $5,000.
My service tech was excellent, knowledgeable, and helpful. He saved me quite a bit of money and got my old unit working well again.
He had gone to HVAC school at Wyotech, Long Beach; I asked him about it. He was very happy with his training/job. He told me he worked on all the different types of equipment at the school.
Enoch and Tim did some work at our house. The job was to repair a broken furnace, and to install a smart thermostat. Enoch got the furnace running quickly enough, but discovered the flue was not venting the way it should, He didn't just ignore it, but investigated and uncovered some very shoddy work done by someone working for the original owner, and that the flue was now compromised, and partially blocked. He walked me through all these discoveries, and showed me pictures where I couldn't see myself. As a result the scope of work increased, and Enoch required a second person, Tim, who came to the site for the last piece of work. They were very helpful in a couple of ways that impressed me. Enoch came three times to the house over the course of this repair, and he showed up when he promised, worked carefully, and seemed to care a great deal about doing a good job. I would not hesitate to have them work on my house again. I felt they worked hard, and gave very good service at a fair price. I also had the feeling that Enoch was honest and open. This is very different from some of the other P&H organizations I have used here in Encinitas. Also one other benefit, is their dispatcher/coordinator, who is outstanding, and they send multiple reminders and updates so you aren't just wondering if or when they will show. This was as pleasant an experience as a busted furnace can be....
I'm a do it yourself guy, but when my air conditioning went out during our recent hot spell I only succeeded in making a hole in my ceiling as I crawled into my roof to get to my furnace. I spoke with Aaron Sherlock and he sent Matt to fix my issue. Matt found that my furnace had blown a fuse, fixed it in short order and was on his way. Nice to have the AC back. Thanks guys.

I really wish I could leave negative stars, because I really feel that I got ripped off. I scheduled an appointment to have a technician come out for a quote for some work on my Mini split A/C system. My condensation pumps are making noise, and I would like to have them removed.
The technician who came out was very clear about not knowing how to work on my system, nor did he know how to price out the repair. He had to call it in, and explain to someone what he believed might be a resolution. The rate he gave me was 3 times the price of another company. I then asked if he could let me know how much it would cost to replace the condensation pump on one of my indoor units. The technician seemed very confused at were the pump might be. I had to show him, and explain how it worked. He then began taking the line set cover apart. I even had to bring my ladder from the garage for him, so he could reach. This repair also required a call. I almost fell over when the person on the other line told him it would be $650.00.
I thanked him, and told him no thank you.
The lady that I scheduled the appointment with told me that the technician who would come out would be able to quote me a price, and handle all repairs on the spot. I asked the technician this, and he seemed to get a little aggitated, telling me that she is only a secretary, didn't know how to do the job, and she shouldn't have told me that. He then asked if I had paper towels or toilet paper to clean the dirty hand prints he left on my a/c unit and the line set cover.
I paid $69.00 for a diagnostic service. I mentioned to the technician that nothing was diagnosed, and that he repeatedly told me that he didn't know how to do the job. He then told me it was just for his time to come out.
The technician gave me the owners phone number. I've placed two calls, which have not been returned.

We had a free safety check by SDG&E the week before Christmas and they deemed our furnace unsafe. I had three large heating and air company's out for estimates and then I saw Sherlock at Costco. They sent out comfort care representative Luc Button. To be truthful, all the estimates we received were not that far off from each other. However, we found Luc to be honest and very sincere. He wasn't the typical sales guy, which was very refreshing. We felt that working with a company that was honest from the start was the best way to go, not getting a free cruise for 2, which is what another company offered us. Eddie and Carlos showed up three days later for installation. They were on-time, very professional, clean and quiet. They were also very helpful and patient with my questions while they were installing. I would also like to mention that Sherlock's office staff Chelsea and Tina were awesome with keeping me informed with arrival times and scheduling us earlier when a cancellation came in. Would highly recommend!
Every person I had contact with, from the person answering the phone, our Consultant, Justin Freeman, the installers, J.R. and Joseph, were professional, and put all our concerns at ease. Not only did Justin check in with us throughout this process, he and Sherlock worked with our schedule (which had several changes), they worked with us on our payment date as we changed our finance choice late in the process and needed more time. The installers arrived on time, had all items needed to properly complete the project, confirmed with me all outside parties involved (crane, city permit, inspection, etc.), explained all components. All contributed to an on time, on budget, successful project. One more testiment to Sherlock; we live in a condo complex of 11 units. We were the second of now 4 units which have used Sherlock in the past two years. Each of us are very happy Sherlock and a fifth homeowner, who used another company, has stated, I wish I had used Sherlock.

I finally decided to go ahead and having heating and AC installed in my condo. I was very impressed with Sherlock. Their sales rep, Justin, came out and made a careful assessment of my situation. I was starting from scratch, no duct work or any sort of ventilation system in the original structure, so I was expecting the project to be messy, complicated, and expensive. However, Justin was able to recommend the most efficient and economical system for me. The installation was quick (It only took 3 days.) and very unobtrusive. The technician, Billy, was super polite, and he made an extra trip by my home the Sunday afternoon before they were scheduled to start in order to make sure of the details for locations of vents and registers, etc. All the technicians were very respectful of my space. They put down protectors for my hardwood floors, and they wore shoe covers on the carpet. Each day during the installation, they cleaned up everything and removed all the dust and debris so that when I arrived home from work, I wouldn't even have known that anyone had been in except for the progress made. The new unit is a dream, and as promised the outside condenser is super quiet. I would highly recommend this company.

I was happy to see that these guys came recommended by many people and are a Costco program member. I paid for a tune up and was told that I needed a $865 repair on top of what I paid. That was fine, the tech was very nice. I wanted to get another quote from another highly recommended company in north county and they were much less. They also told me that my refrigerant was low, which the tech from Sherlock did not mention when he came to inspect my system so I am bothered by the fact that he didn't tell me. Just for consumer information they do not give Costco members a discount unless you are installing a new system, which is not typical of Costco preferred vendors.
Three years ago we had Sherlock install new AC and Heaters in our home (we have three zones, and they replaced two of sytems and refurbished the other). They did a great job at the time and we were very happy with the work done. I'm writing this review today because it the after installation service over the last few years has been fantastic. I really wanted to comment on two things: First, Aaron Sherlock absolutely stands behind his work! We recently had a problem with one of the systems after it had been in our house for a few years (a mechanical failure, not a service or install problem) and he kept sending his guys out to make sure it worked. Sherlock did not give up until we were happy. Second, I'd like to recognize Fred Radtke, who was the service technician on the job I describe above. The A/C was not working and the new part wasn't due in for a week. Fred came out on a Saturday, cobbled together a temporary solution, and got our A/C up and running during the incredible heat we are experiencing so we can sleep comfortably until the part comes in next week. Truly incredible customer service. I've recommended Sherlock to several folks without hesitation in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

Summer is heating up and our A/C condenser unit in the yard decided to stop working. I am not too familiar with these systems so I called the folks on the sticker attached to the air handler in our garage. Matt, the tech, arrived promptly and was very curteous. He was nice enough to show me how to clean the automatic filters built into the system which sure needed cleaning. He then found a simple, obvious problem in a blown fuse which I should have found myself. Sherlock charges $25 for a fuse that's probably $2-5 at the hardware store, but that's ok and par for the course since they do come to your home to be of assistance. Their $69 general diagnostic fee seems fair enough as well.
Here's where things went downhill. The tech did not seem satisfied resolving this issue and decided to dig for something more profitable. The plastic handle piece inside our shutoff box was broken and he suggested I replace the box for around $400. I wanted a new handle, but he said they aren't sold separately. That's when I noticed a replacement part number on the white sheet attached to the box and googled it on my iphone. What do you know? These parts are readily available online for around $10. At this point the tech said he wasn't aware of this part being sold separately but that he could go get one for $65. I agreed, but knew I would never use this company's services ever again. And the cherry on top was when he called me later and tried to sell me some part/service with a name I couldn't understand for $165. I get the commission salesman gig, but this is not the way to do it. WIth so many HVAC service businesses around San Diego, just go with another that has good Yelp reviews and see what happens.

From estimate to completion, the work was seamless. Tony, the estimator, explained everything clearly and worked with me answering all my questions until I had clear understanding of all of my concerns. The installers, Paul and Vince, helped me understand the technical aspects of the job, recommending a modification which increased efficiency of the system and saved me money! Could NOT be more satisfied!!

Sherlock came out and serviced my furnace as part of their contract on a Friday. I turned the system off. The following week, It was cold on Thursday evening. I turned the system on for the night before bed. In the morning, it was cold, the thermostat was dead and the fan was blowing. I was unable to turn off the fan. On Black Friday, I spoke to Tina. She informed me that the earliest appointment was Thursday of the following week. I asked how to turn off the fan as it was constantly blowing. She said that she would have a tech call me. When asked about the Thursday appointment, I said let's wait until the tech calls. No one called me back resulting in this update and one less star. I had to call a competitor to come out. He found that the system was in safe mode as the heating element got too hot as the gas pressure was set too high. He turned it down and no more issues. Ironically, Sherlock was training a new guy and it says on their receipt that the pressure was adjusted. The competitor did say Sherlock is a good company. What is the point of great techs, if you are left with no heating and no cooling for 7 days?
I contacted them because they were listed on a Costco brochure and Costco usually only deals with reputable companies. I waited a couple weeks til the guy could come out to inspect our furnace, AC and ducts. Our heat/AC doesn't work well in that it is hot upstairs and cold down, or vice versa. Was interested in replacing both and need duct work as well. Guy came out, was very thorough and professional, suggested a portable thermostat which would help regulate the two levels of the house. When he left he said I'd have an email estimate next day. Never came and I called after a couple weeks. The guy said he'd check into it and call me right back. No call. So I get that they don't want to bid, but why waste my time and not just tell me they won't be bidding on my job?
HVAC system at my place works great but it had some cooling issues. I bought Groupon for tuneup/checkup of the HVAC system at my residence. Aaron from Sherlock Heating and Air Conditioning came for the job and was very professional, knowledgeable and honest. Turns out system needed some coolant, Aaron added that. Thoroughly checked my system for leaks, wear-tear and gave a thumbs up after tuning it to perfection. Highly recommended !!!
I bet these guys do fine work, I have no reason to think otherwise, but I would personally never hire them. I agree with Loo's comments - their quote for our system was extremely high relative to others, and the comfort advisor who came to give a bid was a high-pressure salesman. We had a very old AC condenser that died in the middle of a heat wave and we simply asked them to install a new condenser. The salesman refused to quote us for that, saying that it was not possible, that the other components absolutely needed to be replaced. He also commented that we were in the top 30% income bracket, insinuating that we could easily afford their top-of-the-line system. Fortunately the next day I met with another (fantastic) company that very easily replaced the condenser and adapted it for our older air handler, two days later, and for significantly less money ($11,000 to $20,000 less!!). Either our salesman did not know the adaptation could be done, or would not admit it hoping to make more money off us. I'm not sure which is worse. Either way, if you get a quote from these guys please do yourself a favor and get several others for comparison. And don't fall for the fact that Sherlock requires an inspection fee. Not all companies do this, including the company we ended up going with.
I have been in business almost thirty years, it is rare anymore that you find a business that has a touch of old fashion customer service. I found that today in Sherlock heating and air conditioning! Carrie was very helpful with great follow up, Matt showed up and did repairs without issue. Dependable professional service that is how I run my business and it is refreshing to deal with another business that puts the customer first. Half of the others businesses I called still have not returned my call. Need great service call Sherlock

I had a great experince using Sherlock Heating and Air and would recommend them to friends and family. We had our AC unit installed by another company about three years ago. One day the AC stopped working, so I called and called the original company to come out and take a look at it...and never got anyone to return my call. So I finally gave up on them and turned to Yelp to find another company to come out. I came accross Sherlock Heating and Air and read all of the positive comments about them. So I decided to give them a call to have them come out. Kerri answered the phone and took all of my information and made sure she understood what the problem was. To my surprise she was able to get me an appointment the next day. Matt was the technitian who came out to fix our problem. He was very friendly and professional and took the time to listen to what the problem was before beginning his inspection. After going threw a thourgh inspection he found what he thought the problem was. He fixed the problem and was on his way.
Now the reason I'm giving them five stars is because of that came next. He gave me his personal cell phone number and said to give him a call if there was any problems. Well, we did run into a problem and wouldn't you know it, it was a Sunday afternoon when everything is closed. WATER was leaking from the attic through the living room ceiling. I panicked but luckily I had Matts cell phone number. He told my to shut off the AC and how to stop the water. First thing Monday morning he was out again to look at the problem. He really seemed to take it personal that we still had the problem, and took the whole unit apart, including all of the pipes that came from the attic down to our sink. He found the problem, which was from the original company who installed it. He fixed it and also added a drain from the secondary pan so we wouldn't have this problem again.
The AC is running great now (just in time for summer)!
We had Sherlock Heating and Air Conditioning replace both our furnace and our air conditioner about 6 months ago. Our furnace wasn't that old but we wanted a matched installation so we upgraded both. We are still very happy with that decision. Very professional installation team that easily warranted a 5 star rating on their own; they truly went above and beyond. They are what makes Sherlock a good company to do business with. What we didn't like was the sales push. The rep came out and pointed out a bunch of reasons why we needed to replace everything. We had already done our homework and knew what needed to be replaced and what didn't. But to be fair, we do feel the sales person earned our business suggesting discounts we could apply for and helping to get the pricing where we needed it to be. Everything after the sales cycle has been great especially all the follow up from Sherlock. Excellent company overall and we have recommended Sherlock to our neighbors.

Our experience with Sherlock was excellent from start to finish. Justin, the sales rep, was very informative and took a lot of time to explain all of our options. That even included working with us to save us some costs, which was nice to know they weren't trying to squeeze us for as much as they possibly could. He inquired about my handyman/DIY skills and offered up a number of tasks that I could do on my own prior to the installation to save on the overall installation cost. I took him up on those options, which saved us a significant amount of money (and I even got multiple compliments from the installation team on the quality of work!). The crew that came to install the equipment was very professional, timely, and did great work. Travis was the lead for our installation and he was awesome the whole way through. He was very clear and thorough about the intended installation and very good about communicating progress and discussing changes to the plan when obstacles were encountered. We have an old, relatively small house that required installation of ducting throughout the house. I was pleasantly surprised at how cleanly they were able to get all of the registers installed in each room with limited space in the attic. They even finished the installation a little earlier than planned. Everything thing went exactly as Justin described, passed efficiency and City of SD inspector testing, and we have been very happy with our investment, especially given the hot, hot summer we've been having! I've recommended Sherlock to multiple coworkers and friends and will continue to do so.
