General Solar Solar Panel
I had a solar water heater installed by a different company 2 years ago. I was not  happy with their customer service. Of course they were great when selling you the product then not so much when you have issues. Anyways I called the Sun-Earth company and they referred me to General Solar. I called and they came out the next day, diagnosed my problem in about 90 seconds, had the correct part on the truck and replaced it in about 25 minutes. Problem solved and now i have a good resource should problems arise in the future. I would highly recommend them.

Argent Solar Solar Panel
We purchased (vs leased) a fairly large 14.28kW system (51 x 280Watt panels) installed by Argent Solar in the summer of 2015.  We shopped around a LOT, comparing purchase vs lease, installers, panel manufacturers and configuration options (normal string inverters vs the power optimizers).  Argent was up front with us (our rep was Charlie, but he might be retired by now), well-priced and timely in everything they did.  No problems getting it approved by APS & turned on.  Our power production this last 3.5 years has been exactly as forecasted (clouds are the biggest variable, but that averages out over time).
We've been very happy with Argent.

While I know the up-front cost to own your system is scary or undoable for most, it is really the better option in the long run if you can swing it.  If you do lease, make sure to read the fine print.  For example, a lease installation by SolarCity would have saved $ up front, but the price we paid for electricity from the solar panels was automatically going to increase by 3.5% per year.  That's insane!  You go solar to get AWAY from price increases!  3.5%/year over the 20-year lease means you're paying almost DOUBLE by the end.  In countries like Germany that have pushed solar & wind power very hard, the cost of electricity has dropped dramatically, and likely that will happen here, too, once we get enough adoption here down the road.  You don't want to be paying a ton MORE down the road while everyone else is paying LESS.  Neither will people potentially buying your house when you move.  Most leases are a 20-year commitment, regardless of the owner.  The wrong solar lease is a liability, not an asset.

We ended up getting panels that had black metal edges instead of silver/aluminum, so the panels are black-on-black, which looks very sharp!  I did a lot of research on panel manufacturers, to include calling a guy I know in CA that runs a solar install company and settled on SolarWorld panels.  There are plenty of other great options (LG, Sunpower, Kyocera) but SolarWorld had the best cost at the time and we wanted to make sure to stay away from cheap Chinese makes for peace of mind.

We also went with SolarEdge power optimizers & inverter rather than the more normal string inverters.  It's a little more cost up front, but having a power optimizer at each solar panel means each panel will produce as much as it can.  Despite being the exact same panel, the power rating is a minimum, as slight manufacturing differences can enable some panels to produce several % higher.  (Looking at my current totals for the week, my best panel has produced 8.42kWh (kiloWatt hours) and my worst panel only 7.80kWh.  That's almost an 8% difference between best & worst.  The average difference is probably 3-4%.)  For a normal string inverter setup, a bunch of panels are all connected to the same inverter and all panels are limited by the worst performer on the string, so you'd never get that extra production.  If you have a shadow from a tree or something on your panels part of the day, then the panels in the shade are going to limit your production over all.  Is it enough of a difference to make up for the extra cost?  I don't know, probably.  If you have a shade problem, though, I think it DEFINTELY would.

Several of the SolarEdge power optimizers have gone bad during the last 3.5 years.  I'm not sure if I got a bad lot or what.  You have a graphic depiction of your system to monitor via a web page, though, so as soon as you see a "black hole" in your system, you just call your installer and they replace it free of charge.  Those power optimizers come with a 20-year warranty, so SolarEdge ships a replacement part and pays the install charge.  Argent Solar has been great for this, replacing the part within a couple days usually, as they have replacement parts on hand already.

Anyway, I've been thrilled with our setup.  When I first ran the numbers, the payback was going to take just short of 8 years (including the state & federal rebates).  Then APS put through not one, but two, price increases of nearly 8% each, so that shortened my payback period closer to 7 years (due to the extra cost of electricity that I'm NOT paying).  And when you think that the value of my house has surely increased (due to owning the system; not true for a leased system), there's a good chance the system has already completely paid for itself at just 3.5 years.  Your numbers will be different, maybe better or worse, but probably an excellent investment if you're going to stay in your house for even just a few years.

Simple Solar Solar Panel
If you are looking to get solar on your home, Simple Solar is the company to go with. Scott and his team throughly explained what was entailed during the entire process in a way even I could understand. We didn't think we would be able to get Solar where we live, but Simple Solar made it happen! Just in time to run all those Christmas lights without worry!

Pacific West Solar Solar Panel
I just do not understand why more people just replace their standard hot water tank while our sun blazes overhead...   While the upfront costs of solar is a little more, there are almost no energy bills past that.  Most people use electricity (burning coal and further polluting our increasingly unhealthy air here!) to heat water for their homes and business.  It's so illogical, it's sad.
Peter at Pacific West Solar is a great LOCAL business.  At least have them quote a solar hot water system before mindlessly replacing your tank unit.  Get a quote NOW before the old system does fail - as they all fail and that's the time to change it up!   Of course, you do need sun exposure for any solar system to work :-)

ParkWhitt Power Solar Panel
Our Sun Run solar system rocks.
Keith and his team did a great job of keeping us informed every step.
We didn't pay anything to get solar on our home and it's saving us a bunch. There was some extra work done on the outside panel, but we did not get charged thanks.

Tesla Energy Solar Panel
After reading some of these reviews, it's like we didn't deal with the same company.

I started talking to SolarCity first (I was waiting on something at BestBuy, and so chatted with the sales person in there about it -- I had been thinking about solar, anyway), but I also got site evals and bids by 9 other companies.  SolarCity was in my Top 3 the whole time, but what was preventing me from pulling the trigger was their lack of a financed purchase option.  In May 2016, they finally announced that as an option, and with the ultra-cheap interest rate (2.9%), the monthly cost was $3 more per month as the lease...except it's paid off in 10 years instead of paying for 20 only to have it removed!  So after 10 years, I just have a huge source of free juice, but still with all the same power delivery guarantees and warranty and whatnot as the "normal" lease arrangement for 20 years (and then after that they're hands-off, but the system will obviously still work).

So, that was enough that I was willing to make the call to go with SC over the other companies I was considering.

My main service panel was a measly 100 amp -- so, before the panel installation, they contracted to upgrade it to a 225 amp panel at no cost to me (!!!!), and even took care of all the permits and inspections for that.

I had an 8.89kW solar panel system installed.  The install team showed up on time, were all great folks (who were in a noticeably jovial mood over the entire day and a half of my installation), and were extremely safety-conscious as well as very concerned about doing a clean installation.  My install was a particularly tough challenge, as I have totally open (but finished) rafters, so they had to be very precise to sink every lag bolt and screw into a beam.  They said they'd never had to deal with this before, but did a great job on it.

Literally today I had the system inspected -- no issues from the county inspector.

So, I've not turned the system on, yet.  But I will update if anything changes that would cause me to not feel that this was a five-star experience end-to-end.

New Grid Power Solar Panel
We purchased a tiny home that had an off grid system hooked up to it so we called new grid to come out and see if we were hooked up correctly.  We paid the $250 for the consultation and had two guys come out to look at the system.  I also wanted to get some extra batteries installed and a few other upgrades to make sure we were good for off grid living.  Everything seemed to be hooked up correctly is what the two guys from new grid determined.  I basically only received a printout of the user manuals from them, and certainly never got a follow up on any upgrades.  Seven months later our system failed due to an underpowered inverter (which fried) and our batteries also were unable to hold a charge and were ruined as well.  The company who is now upgrading me immediately noticed several areas that were not hooked up correctly including how the bank of batteries were wired.  I just find it sad how some companies talk the talk on the phone and just fall very short after your check is cashed.  I definitely doubt their solar knowledge and I would recommend taking your money to a more experienced company.

Southface Solar Electric Solar Panel
I live up in central Arizona and met Corey at a home show a few years back.  They had no problem coming up here and installing the solar system for us.  We thought everything was good but a few months back I actually looked up at my ceiling and noticed a bolt sticking out, I called Corey and he said that they ALWAYS stand by their work.  He committed to me that he himself would drive up here and take a look and if it was their problem he would fix things.  It's been months and he has never called back.  It seems that his company will only stand by their work if it's done locally.  If you live anywhere outside of Phoenix don't use this company

ABP Electrical Systems Solar Panel
It's been well over a year. So far the system has been reliable. ABP designed the system for break even on our electrical bill. While the production of the panels exceeds their estimate, we have gone from a $3,923.41 APS annual bill to $822.47. While we did not break even, we saved $3100.94.

My gripe a year after is that our salesman, John Himstreet out right lied to us about about pigeon problems. He did promise us a pigeon barrier which the company said they didn't offer. John told us that we shouldn't worry because there wasn't enough space underneath for the pigeons to access. Well, with wing and rain, we noticed large amounts of droppings around our house. Well I went up there last week and was shocked and disgusted to find piles of pigeon poo, dead birds and eggs. John is a pathological liar. Avoid, avoid, avoid! The pigeon service said that solar companies frequently lie about pigeon access. The company said a 3" gap is all that it takes. I wish I had known this when the system was installed. Plan on adding just over $1200.00 to get the work done!

Solar Topps Solar Panel
We had a very positive experience with Solar Topps from their initial sales person to the final installers.  They were responsive throughout the process to our questions and concerns.  Getting solar installed is a long process involving city approval for the design, coordination at installation between Solar Topps, APS, and city inspectors, then comes final inspections from the city and APS.  The Solar Topps staff was very helpful in keeping us informed of the timeline each step of the way.  Our installers were conscientious and professional.  The solar system is working just as it was outlined in our initial sales meeting.  Because of their product, their follow through, and their knowledge and professionalism, we highly recommend Solar Topps.

The employees were all pleasant and know their job, but the owner, Brandon, severely lacks courtesy. The workers left my gate open and my dog got out. Brandon informed me that it was my and my 94 year old mother's responsibility to ride herd on his workers and, the job happened on Friday, he didn't want to be bothered on Saturday. Apparently, Brandon enjoys poor reviews. I will never use them again.
Apparently, Yelp won't accept a one start rating, but that is all this company deserves.

Elite Solar Concepts Solar Panel
It's no surprise that the only good 5 star reviews are 2017 and 18 right after presentation or install. No good reviews after that. shows how terrible this company is. Stay away, do not trust them. They will rip you off and then just leave you hanging. I've called them several times and either get a  busy signal  or is goes straight to voice mail. The system was not set up the same way the salesperson presented it, and the system is 9 inches above the roof, after being told that pigeons should not be able to get under it because they are only a couple inches from the roof. I currently have one panel that is shattered and needs replaced. I was told and there website states they have a 25 yr warranty. however now that I need something fixed I can not get a hold of anyone, which is very frustrating. I spent to much money on this system to be ignored.

Custom Solar Installs Off Grid Specialist Solar Panel
RUN from this company.  Glenn Williams is a fraud and lacks even a shred of integrity.  Glenn sold me an off grid solar system that was inadequate per his own engineer.  The Engineer told me that Glenn's system would ruin my brand new HVAC unit!    Glenn even admitted to me that he did not do his own due diligence before he sold it to me, but that he would not take it back even though the system hadn't been used.  Makes me wonder if the batteries Glenn sold me were outdated and he knew it.   Glenn proceeded to call me names when I would try and reason with him.  I have been flexible with offering a payment program.  People like this shouldn't be allowed to hang a shingle on their door.  Beware, he writes his own positive reviews.

Wattsup Solar Solar Panel
The install process was terrible. Panels left in my backyard for days collecting dust. I was told it should have taken 2 days well it actually took a little over two weeks. Still has not been approved by Wattsup Solar. My panels have been installed for a month now and I still can not use them. The worst part for me was overhearing the workers talk about how the were not going to seal the holes on my roof because the company did not want to pay them their wages. Wow! What a sorry excuse for a "company."
