Best Pipe Repair in Detroit MI
Andre and his team are A+ professionals - definitely my go to plumber now. Not only did he respond to my inquiry quickly, he took the time to explain and offer a couple different solutions for different price points once he evaluated on-site. I ultimately had him replace a full stack from my basement to kitchen sink. The end result looks great, works great, and was done quickly and on the budget we agreed to. Highly recommend Andre and will be calling him in the future! Thanks again!

We have plumbing problems everywhere we go...why not. This time, we needed a new plumber (the old one was expensive and sold my dad an unnecessary furnace plan which led to them recommending a new furnace over a $200 problem) so we called Universal. Their communication was exceptional and the fix was quick. They cleaned up after the job, and then called about a day later to make sure that we were satisfied. Overall, we were!

had them install a kitchen sink faucet that was a deep sink and hard for me to access as I am a senior citizen. Also I needed a leaking gas pipe fitting replaced at the same time, both jobs were done in speedy time and was a quality repair and installation. Never had a problem later with any leaks or other things. They cleaned up after the job and the price quoted was very reasonable. I now have another new problem and will be calling them back.

I have been buying properties for 17 years and Michael accomplished what few other plumbers will even attempt. he was referred to me from a friend in common and went and looked at my clogged drain the same day. I had six inches of water in the basement AND my stairs to the basement collapsed from the previous plumber who attempted it and broke them with his heavy equipment. Mike went the same day, got his equipment down there and worked on the drain until he got it freed up. excellent communication. great pricing and incredible service. thanks Mike. I appreciate the excellent service.

I messaged them on yelp got a reply and a next day appointment within 20 minutes. Incredible customer service. When they came out and determined that my issue wouldn't require their services they gave me some advice and insisted I didn't owe them anything for coming out. If I ever need the services they provide in the future they'll be my first phone call. Highly recommend them.

Doug reached out immediately and I was able to get Ken to come over within the next few days. Had a leak in the tub faucet. Ken came and replace the parts. No more leaks. Kind, respectful, Very nice work. Highly recommended!

Promised a quick install of my new furnace in order to get my business then left me with a cold house for the holiday. Then after never completing the install, they charged my credit card the final post installation payment and I left trying to hire a professional and reputable company to finish the install. Getting my money back from Birmingham -we stay up nights figuring new ways to screw you - Plumbing and other things, will require a lawsuit. Avoid at all costs ( and avoid all the costs!)

Skip this guy. He is a rip off artist. Oh, he seems nice and friendly at first but he'll take you for what you have and do a bad job. He put in new pipes in the basement because sewage was flowing into the basement and he said new pipes would stop that. They didn't. He didn't finish the job properly. After tearing up the cement, putting in new pipes, he screwed up laying the fresh concrete down. He didn't have enough cement to contour the slope of the floor to direct water into the drain so he said he would be back in a few days to finish the floor. He never came back. And when sewage started seeping back into the basement, I called him, NO ANSWER. I text messaged him, NO RESPONSE. I emailed him, NO REPLY. So now he has my money and I have the same problem as I did before but now the sewage is flowing into the basement through brand new pipes.

Not a good company at all. They charged us $950 and did NOTHING then wanted over $4000 for the real fix. I paid someone else $1000 to fix it right. The only plus was that they actually showed up.

Update to past review. Different employee came and we did decide to replace the unit. New employee was very respectful and did a good job. Still I would say that follow up from office (no calls ever responded) is poor. Good technician on site though.

I was charged $325.00 to unclog a drain. Four days later it was clogged again. When I called, they were not in any hurry to correct the problem and wanted to charge me $200.00 more to run a camera and then charge me more after they came up with a new solution. I was told that a plumber would show up and they never did. He told me that the owner would call, but did not. I finally called her and she was nice but would not resolve the problem satisfactorily. By the time she called it was the end of the day after 2 days of a re-clogged drain and was going to charge me another $275.00 to snake my drain.

Brian and John have done a couple jobs for me, neither were anything small! I do most of my own stuff, but sometimes there are problems bigger than my abilities/credentials. I waited 6 months after their last job for me, making sure the settled repairs are bonafide and my review is fair for readers. I will not ever hesitate to call them for that next problem that's coming down my calendar.

Very strange experience with this Thorton & Grooms Plumbing. Very disappointing because the are allegedly a long established business.
I used Home Advisor when looking for plumbing service for a serious issue in a home I just moved into. I booked them through Home Advisor on a Monday for a Thursday appointment (the 1st appointment that was available). I received a call from a representative at Thornton & Grooms that day saying that Home Advisor has a weird booking system and that they did not have availability for the date I had chose, asked me about my issue, told me that they would put me on their priority list but could book me for a confirmed appointment on Monday (a week later). I took the appointment. I received a second call the next day saying that Home Advisor had cancelled my appointment and asked if that was the case? I told them no I had not cancelled... the person proceeded to tell me about their plumbing, heating & cooling servicing & purchasable warranty, I told him I would consider it. I received a confirmation text on Sunday confirming my Monday appointment. Monday morning, the day of my appointment I receive a call at 8:45 am asking me if I would consider rescheduling for $99 off of my services due to heavy call volume for their services. I said no thank you, I had already waited a week and that I had cleared my schedule for the day... needed to have my serious issue addressed and would be keeping my appointment. I was told that they would keep me on the schedule but there was no guarantee that they would show up!
I do not feel I was being unreasonable for being alarmed by the scenario and the unprofessional way I was communicated with considering I was on their urgent list for 6 days and had legitimately waited for my scheduled appointment. Needless to say I felt it best to cancel my possible appointment rather than waste my day waiting around for no one to show up. I called an equally reputable company that came out that day within an hour.
So I seriously hope that the staff at Thornton & Grooms were just having a bad day/week because if my experience is the norm for their customer service I would strongly advise calling any other plumbing service before calling them unless you enjoy dealing with unorganized, unprofessional companies that call you days before your appointment with their service warranty sales pitch and then try and offer money off your services to reschedule the day of your appointment.

I called Hoover electric this morning because my brother had lost all power to his entire house last night. He had a friend come over to install a dishwasher and somehow all of the power blew- even to the main circuit board. Hoover electric came out right away when I explained to them that my niece was on a ventilator and had to be moved out of the house because she had to have electricity so she could plug in. They are very friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend!

They came out to my home on a Monday. Reviewed work I required. Was told that the quote would be emailed to me. I followed up two days later when I still hadn't received anything; was told they were busy and would get around to it. One week later and still no quote. I obviously took my business elsewhere.

SCAM!!! Paid $194.41 to have them come out and fix a slow draining toilet. First plumber came out and only put an auger in, then said it would take $400 to remove the toilet if needed. Said the drain was fixed and left. 5 days later, same problem happened, and I had to call them back. A different plumber came out and did the exact same thing. Of course, 2 days later, the toilet backed up again. Instead of paying RotorRooter AGAIN (to fix a problem they never fixed), I called a local plumber and he was able to get the drain unclogged immediately!! TOTAL SCAM!! They do whatever they can to get you to take the toilet off... DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!

had to wait from 8-5 pm to get a new hot water tank installed. No one showed up or called. Called the office and they sent out an emergency notice to the manager, promised a call. Never received a call from the manager that night or the next day. I even called them 3 times to confirm the appointment the day before and the same day.
