Great response time after initial request for a quote. Customer service on phone was very polite and everyone was professional throughout the whole process.

The tech that changed my garbage disposal was on time, followed all COVID safety protocols, was very nice and he had paper covers on his shoes for entering my house. He was very efficient and also patient with all my questions. Also, he gave great advice on how to keep my disposal unit running it's best.

Great business and now my new go-to for all my plumbing needs!

Shady!
Rude and disrespectful. Not trustworthy.
The dispatcher convinced me of hydro jetting the sewer pipe. When completed, Their plumber said an expandable snake would have had the same result at half the cost.

This is the second time Nelson Bros has done work at my house & again had great service, James went above & beyond to do a great job fixing a leak in my bathroom, checking out my water heater concern, & repairing my kitchen faucet which took some extra effort. Great & honest company, you can't do better than Nelson Bros Plumbing.

$195.00 for a 10 minute service call.  That's way out of my league.
I won't be using Nelson Brothers again.

Awesome service, especially in times of crisis! They're very knowledgeable and have great prices.

We've had Nelson Brothers come out multiple times for various issues in our rental house.

We had an issue where our garbage disposal was leaking when we first moved in. They did some investigating and found out that a connector piece was dislodged by the force of the disposal turning on. They put on a stronger piece and resealed it. We haven't had an issue with it since.

Another issue was with our dishwasher. We ordered a new one but because it was so far away from the sink, Home Depot couldn't hook it up. We called Nelson Brothers up and they came out and shimmied the tubing hook up behind the cabinets and through the drawer to get it to hook up properly. It's a crazy set up, but they made it work.

Another issue was where the garbage disposal entirely stopped working. The blade came off and went down the pipes. They came by and replaced the entire thing and let us tested. It worked perfectly on the first try.

Another issue, which is hopefully our last, was our hot water tank stopped working. We couldn't reignite it and when they came over and somehow found a way to reignite it, the flame wouldn't stay lit. They came back the following day and replaced the igniter and valve and it started working again. Mind you, this issue was during the COVID 19 chaos, and they were very professional and wore protective gear when entering our home.

We definitely appreciate the expert service we get from Nelson Brothers!

I had a drain issue I needed fixed in my house. I had another plumber out to my house and he didn't fix it. Nelson Bros. gave me same day service when I called. The tech called and let me know his ETA. The problem was diagnosed and the repair was verified. I got a 30 day warranty on the job. I considered the price reasonable. Based on my experience I would recommend them.

Highly recommend! We had our basement backed up on a Friday. It was tough to get someone that would come out and fix it. Nelson Brothers was recommended by another plumber. JONATHAN came out at 7pm! He snaked the clean out area (a place that previously had not been done)
He was professional, competent and thorough. Plus the price was very reasonable for an after hours call and they gave us a 30 day warranty. We had a super storm several days later, and did a ton of laundry - all good!!! Highly recommend!

From start to finish it was a pleasure doing business with this company. I do not like to employ contractors or other companies to come into my house to work because they never live up to my expectations. Nelson Brothers Plumbing exceeded my expectations. This is the first time I have worked with this company. I told the scheduler what I needed and he set up an appointment for the same day I called. Creith  called before showing up, which was a nice touch. He had a mask on and used Footies to cover his shoes, thank you. The minute he got into our house went right to work fixing my clogged drain. There was a mess around the clean out which Creith picked up and cleaned the surrounding area . After the job I gave him a credit card he processed on his iPad and emailed me a receipt with a guarantee. Nelson Brothers is my new plumbing company !!!

I do like them, but too expensive.  During covid they came to change as broken stopper on one of my bathrooms.  With all the delivery delays they couldn't find a stopper of normal size without changing the entire faucet.  They did the job but I paid a premium just for that...

Excellent work, professional service, and a fair price. I had Nelson Brothers come out to shut off a natural gas pipe that extended from my basement to the front and back yards, while also installing new, safer piping in my basement. They explained the work they were doing, provided recommendations, did their work efficiently, cleaned up, and completed on time. Couldn't ask for anything more!

A few months ago, I had the valve to my dishwasher fix but after a couple of uses, my dishwasher was leaking water into my basement. I had them come out to make sure it wasn't anything that they did. Come to find out it was another issues and charged me the service fee for 10 minutes of work.

Overall they're quality of work is good but they do not care about customer service. I'm unsure if I will use them again.

You know, I've been a customer of Nelson Brothers for a couple of decades. I had a really unsatisfactory experience with them yesterday, however, which has removed them from my call list. It took a week to get an appointment to have a toilet fixed. Okay: things are busy. I get it. My tenant took a day off work to be home. I got a text that the plumber was a no-show. When I got back home there was a call on my phone: plumber assumed because I didn't answer that no one was home. Could I please reschedule? Bummer: tenant lost a day's work. I called to reschedule and was told that until I submitted a valid credit card, the appointment would not be booked. I'm sorry: not gonna happen. I understand that you are trying to protect your business, but you are way outside of normal business practices. Because of that you have permanently lost my business.

Update: 05/19 - we had Nelson Brothers out again and our experience was just as fantastic as before. We have roots in the storm drain and missed our yearly preventative clean out last year, so it was backing up just a little with rainwater. Ed came out and worked it for an hour and a half until it was clear and water was flowing!!!

We have dealt with other companies in the past and none have been as reliable or as efficient at Nelson Bros. I've recommended them to friends and don't hesitate to give them 5 stars here!

These guys are simply the best! We had a major plumbing back up in our basement on a Saturday afternoon. It happened to be my wife's birthday and we were hour away from a house full of family. We cancelled the party and got on the phone. Nelson Brothers called us back within 15 minutes of calling and leaving a message. The tech said it would be a minimum of $300 on a Saturday. We had sewage in our basement so, of course, I told him to get over ASAP!

We had a significant block in our line way down towards the street. It took the tech a couple of hours but, finally, the water (and stuff) receded back to whence it came! Final bill? $300.00 as quoted.

I love it when a business does competent work and doesn't gouge. The tech could have easily justified an up-charge, given his efforts and time, but he didn't. Nelson Bros. are my go to plumbing company from now on!

I really wanted to give a positive review for this company. The work performed was satisfactory however, the plumber that arrived at my house was aggravated to be here. He continually insulted the quality and craftsmanship of the prior plumbing work in my home and the product he was paid to install, as well as my Decor. , This is very  inappropriate and completely unprofessional. Not to mention the hidden charges that were not disclosed when I called to make the appointment. I will not be using them again.

Unbelievably awful
1 plumber was over an hour late from time frame
2 when plumber left he neglected to clean anything up, cut pipes, sawdust, insulation etc everywhere, no effort to clean was made
3 plumber made shortcuts that backfired and caused many problems and had to be redone, but I was charged extra for repairing own shoddy workmanship
4 price was on the high side but wouldn't be a problem if they did quality work and didn't tack on unexpected charges

The only thing I liked about the company was the trucks and uniforms other then that prepare for the headache

Perhaps the workmanship is ok... but I was infuriated to learn that because they didn't get hold of me by phone, they bypassed our appointment and went to the next call. My wife took some expensive time off work in order to keep the appointment; she was there waiting for them...and waiting...and waiting.

Yes, it's true that they weren't able to get me by phone. But that's no excuse for not showing up at the address at the agreed time.
I was not informed that I would have to answer the phone before they would keep the appointment we had made...I thought they would honor their appointment, and only call me if/when there was a problem with showing up.

This is only our second time using Nelson Brothers; how they choose to resolve this matter will determine if we will use them again.

My toilet recently became backed up - and no matter how much Drano and plunging I did, I couldn't get it unclogged. I finally gave in and asked for plumbing referrals. One of my friends recommended Nelson Brothers. Since they were close to home, I decided to give them a try. I'm really glad I did - the person who answered the phone was friendly, and scheduled my appointment for the next morning.

The plumber who came out was thorough and kind, and worked quickly to get the problem fixed. It's always scary to be a single woman and get any kind of repair work done, because I always feel like I'm getting ripped off; but he was at my house for over two hours, and got the job fixed - and it ended costing me less than I had anticipated, which was nice.

I would definitely recommend them for any plumbing repairs you need!

I lived through the Great Rainfall of 2014 (also known as the 500 Year Storm), watching helplessly as water poured out the basement drain in my home. I, like 75% of Huntington Woods and much of Berkley, faced a total downstairs renovation and gutting of many belongings. This experience gave me a strong incentive to build up a good relationship with a local plumber able to respond quickly and comprehensively.

Now that evil drain cannot be cemented in and somehow I cannot convince the city to tear out their antiquated 1920s sewer and stormwater system for something remotely modern. Blah blah taxes angry citizens blah. The next best option is a reliable plumbing service, and Nelson Brothers fits the bill. I like their proximity to Berkley, for one, and their understanding for our finicky piping situation around here.

One boring rainstorm this last month caused my floor drain to backup and after a bit of Doctor Googling, I suspected the problem to be clogged traps. A bit of foul 'sewer gas' smell accompanied flushing toilets or running the washing machine. I called at 9:30 AM. They had someone out by 2 PM at the house.

Jesse showed up on time, then went to town on that questionable drain using his magic tools and hocus-pocus hands, sawing through the blockages and helpfully reporting I have an evil oak ent in the front yard trying to infiltrate my pipes. Why on earth an oak thinks a sewer/house outlet pipe is worth breaking and entering like a looter in a hurricane, I have no idea. This will have to be a secondary repair that rips up the yard, but he cleared out enough debris to allow me comfort when doing simple tasks like having a shower or running the laundry.

In and out in an hour, he charged us about $180. A visit and diagnosis would be $90 if we did nothing, another $20 if you're outside the area. Fortunately my place is all of a mile and change from their head office so no problem there. Further, Jesse did a great job informing me about my options to avoid an expensive yard rip out to fix a pipe, to the tune of annual maintenance. Sure, it's not perfect, but I'll take $180 annually over hundreds of dollars if I weren't already planning to replace my front lawn and take the evil oak to task.

Prompt service, rapid corrections, and top notch customer service make me a happy customer and Nelson Brothers is firmly established as my plumbing company of choice.

PROTIP: If you're not sure about having work done, know you'll pay about $90 for having them come out for a consultation.

Writing an update to my 5/15/2016 post. The sink that was slow-draining last year is slow-draining again. Just about a year for the 'fix' to crap-out. As I suspected, it appears the main drain needed to be cleaned up as well, not just the downspout immediately under the drain.

I don't know if Nelson Brothers still employs the plumber who did the hack-job on my sink, but I'm not going to take the chance and call them again. There are better outfits out there. Sorry NB, no return business from this dissatisfied customer.

I am extremely pleased with not only the customer service but their promptness and professionalism. Martha, whom I spoke with over he phone to set up an appointment, was very patient and friendly; answering any questions I had.

Jesse came out to my place with in such a short time, and was very personable and kind. He two was very patient with me and took the time to make sure the job was done correctly. He didn't make me feel rushed, but instead made me feel comfortable and relaxed, knowing the problem would be fixed!

Thanks again to Martha and Jesse for being such great people! I will definitely be recommending this company to others!

WARNING, CALL WATERWORKS INSTEAD.

I used Nelson's brothers for a small leak from my bathtub to my basement. The guy advised I needed to replace the handles in my shower, which he quoted me around $300 depending on how long it takes to install. He then stated he did not have the parts and he could switch it to one handle for $600. I agreed because I wanted my shower fixed and he already removed the old handles. After 3 hours, he then said he could no longer offer 1 handle. I am not sure why he didn't know this from the beginning? Isn't this his job? Anyways, he then ordered the 3 handles which took about a week to get. He came back in a week to install the new handles.  Which cost me $600!!!!  Insane! One of the handles then broke a few days later and I called nelsons to come back out.. the paperwork stated I had a 90 day warranty but the spout to the handle was not covered, therefore, I was charged another $110. Not really sure what the $600 was for? New plastic?? Probably cost $10.

Not a honest company and they do not follow there warranties! Beware before using them.

I had another property I had the same 3 knobs replaced and water works charged me $315  vs the $710 Nelson brothers charged me. This was within the same month.

-----‐-------------------------------------------------------------------

I called Nelson Brother on 1-27-16 to have my basement drain snaked out. The drain was backed up due to tree roots, a common problem in my area. I was charged 186.00 for the cleanout; Creith completed the work.  26 days later I had the same issue with the plumbing, it was backing up again. I called Nelson Brothers to come out and snake the drains for the second time. The second charge was 178.00 and he went an additional 8 feet (1$ per foot), this time it was completed by Rob.
1. Check your bill... I was charged the same amount for both visits and additional work was completed on the second visit.  Makes no sense.
2. A warranty is not given if tree roots or items such as wipes are found in your pipes.
3. Request Rob to come to your home. He did a wonderful job, extremely polite, explained the situation and even cleaned up after himself. Creith ... Well, I have nothing positive to stay about my first visit, he left a HUGE mess and tracked mud all over my house and did even do a good job causing another guy having to come out.
4. FYI: A minimum charge of 98.00 is due today and this only includes  1/2 hour of labor.

I have used Nelson Bros. twice.   The second time, I had saved up a list of things to be fixed to make it worth the price of a service call.  Rob came out both times- friendly, professional, and fair.  He charged for the main job, and then did the other things (which admittedly were quick and simple but not within my scope of knowledge) for free. A competitor who claims to be Affordable would had insisted on ripping out all the pipes and fixtures and starting over or it wouldn't be under warranty which would have cost a lot of money.
I highly recommend Nelson Brothers.  Cheap? No.  Fair? Absolutely!

When it comes to plumbing NBP is to whom I go to.   They haven't let me down and not once have I felt ripped off.   They explain what's going on at the time and they let you know what needs to be done.

This last visit these guys went above and beyond their services. It was a nice summer Friday evening,  and they didn't leave until the task at hand was resolved.  That alone is great!  What is even more amazing to me is that they didn't take advantage of our pocket book.  Their pricing was very fair and well earned.  I can't say enough great things about them.

I've been dealing with them for 10-11 years.  No complaints.  Don't expect perfection, sometimes expectations cannot be met the way we want them to, but I will say with confidence that they're very professional, and they get the job done!!!!  Truly.

The Guy who came out was nice and professional but when it came time to fix the toilet, he either didn't know what he was doing or was trying to charge me for parts that I didn't need. Everything was professional when I was standing in the bathroom with him but as soon as I walked away and left him alone, that's when he tried to take advantage I feel like. He stayed for 1 hr, was wrong about what needed to be fixed and wanted more money. I told him no thank you!

I simply could not be more pleased with the service I receive from Nelson Brothers and the fair prices.  Having had my kitchen sink dismantled for the installation of new solid surface counters, I needed the sink hooked back up and a new facet installed. Mark was not just an immensely skilled plumber, but he was delightful and generously tolerated my 11 mo puppy who insisted on helping after an overly excited welcome.  The existing sink was reinstalled with disposal and dishwasher hookup, new trap, and he swapped out the faucet for $278.
BTW: Initially, I had T&G from Birmingham came out because Nelson Brothers had a couple day delay. There was no problem to discover--the work was predefined. T&G sends out a very polite professional plumber who takes a look, asks about poor drainage, and writes an estimate for $788. I declined that quote as well as the $69 service fee. A supervisor tried to convince me how fair the price was because they have such a nice truck sitting in my driveway and they have book which defines how the plumber must do each job and the cost.  $510 for T&B's truck and book? No thanks.

If I could give them 0 (zero) stars I would. Had dealt with them multiple times out of necessity. Never felt like a paying customer but more like a burden. Last time I called the guy even hung up on me. If you want a more capable plumber at a more affordable rate, there's plenty on Yelp. Two thumbs down for this company.

We had Nelson Brothers out to install everything for a new 1st floor laundry room and a few days later had them come back out to remove and old cement laundry tub from our basement and install a new one.  Not only were their prices very fair and reasonable, both crews who performed the work were great.  Everybody was very friendly and knowledgeable .. answering any questions that we had along the way, they were professional, and their work areas, when they were done, were left picked up and clean.  Rick even stopped back out the following day to answer a few questions that I had and Jeremy was awesome in scheduling us so quickly.  I will continue to call Nelson Brothers for any future work that we need and I would highly recommend them if you have any plumbing and/or sewer needs.

Great work on an emergency service call. Called their number and reached their answering service at 9:10 PM on a Sunday. A plumber returned my call at 9:13. At 9:25 they arrived. They were done with my routine sewer line cleaning at 9:35.

The plumber was friendly, polite and knowledgeable

I ended up spending $250. Another company had quoted $185-$225 but after 8 hours of failed promises of service, I called Nelson. I am familiar that they're pretty good but not by any means the lowest price, but I've never been disappointed with the quality of their work.

Love, love, love this company. When you have a backup issue the last thing you want to do is wait to have it fixed. Nelson Bros. was at my home within an hour of my call. I honestly did not expect anywhere near that kind of turn around.
The guy who came out was very nice, very professional, and answered every 'dumb' plumbing question I had, in order to explain the situation. He even offered to examine a non-related issue that I mentioned while dealing with the issue at hand.
This is the second time I've had them out, and it won't be the last (unfortunately!). They are definitely doing it right!

I called Nelson Brothers this morning because a pipe had burst in the basement due to the cold weather.  I called when they first opened (8am) and the man who picked up said they would send someone out that afternoon.

The tech came out later that afternoon as promised and fixed the broken pipe in about 45 minutes.  He was very polite and answered any questions I had.

The price was reasonable and it looks like I have a new go to spot for my plumbing needs.

Absolutely terrible service !!!  Incompetent and zero follow through !   Used to be good plumbers, but This year I had them out twice to identify / confirm a leak. The first guy confirmed the one I had identified, and rigged the toilet so it wouldn't leak, but left it inoperable (didn't attempt to use the shutoff valve).  He said parts needed-- did not hear back from him. I found a second leak at an outside faucet.  Called the company and they sent out Rick (Service Manager) he agreed parts needed for toilet and brushed off the outside leak and didn't follow up with that either. (I fixed that one), but again no follow through. Called again; no follow through, called again. Rick gave estimates, then no follow through. Rick didn't even realize (though I specifically told him... AND he examined it himself), that I needed a wall-mounted (not floor-mounted) toilet. Again no follow through called again; no follow through.  Promises, no results !  I used the shutoff valve, and now I have family visitors, who have to use the shutoff valve after every flush, but of course it leaks when the water is turned on, so now ceiling tiles have fallen off in the family room below.   Absolutely incompetent, irresponsible, poorly managed company.

I bought a new house in Detroit. We had some drain issues, so of course I called Nelson Bros. Everything was still perfectly good; the service, the professionalism, the response time, and yes, they solved the problem.

The bad part was: They charged me more just because the house is in Detroit. The minimum fee went up $40. The tech told me Any time we go south of 8 Mile we bring an extra guy along to watch the truck. Really?

Not cool.

The Nelson Bros deserve and earn their excellent plumbing reputation. They are courteous and reliable with great follow up. They communicate well and show up as scheduled. Most importantly, they are also knowledgable around complicated systems. Yes, they are pricier than most but clearly worth avoiding the aggravation from other providers. Highly recommend. Special thanks to our technician Dave!

I called Nelson Bros to clean out my basement floor drain that was backing up when I did laundry.  I'd last had the drain cleaned out 5 years earlier by Roto Rooter.  That time, Roto Rooter had to come back twice because the first time he only cleaned out my low line but the high line was also blocked.  I ended up paying $300 for the two visits.  The Nelson Brothers plumber did thorough research into the problem before beginning and ended up cleaning both lines for only $135.

The only reason I didn't rate them 5 stars is because they gave me a window of 3 - 6 PM and didn't call me until 5:50.  That was disappointing, especially since I'd left work early for the appointment.

I found Nelson Brothers on Yelp while I was looking for plumbers to find someone when my mom's hot water heater needed to be replaced unexpectedly. Their quote was reasonable and competitive, they were able to come and do the work quickly, they were on time and very professional. There were no additional fees or charged tacked on and they took the old unit away. We would definitely call them again if we needed any plumbing work done, they were wonderful to work with.

At least it ended up OK.

I needed two faucets replaced, one in a laundry room and one in a bathroom. Yelpers and previous experience led me to call Nelson Brothers.

The plumber arrived within the generous appointment time window. He was friendly and pleasant, starting his work on the bathroom faucet. This job was pretty routine and was accomplished in short order.

The second faucet in the laundry room was more involved, but the plumber figured out a way to shorten the time and lessen the complexity of the installation. So far, so good, right?

Not quite.

As he was in his truck writing up the bill, I decided to test the faucet in the laundry room. I opened the left handle of the faucet and the water ... just ... kept ... getting ... colder.

Then, I twisted the right handle and soon had a streaming, steaming flow of hot water.

Yup, he hooked the faucet up backward. Space was tight and the area was dark, but this is sort of like Intro to Plumbing 101, isn't it?

I told him about what I found. He crawled up under there again and fixed it in a couple of minutes.

$267.00 and 2.5 stars.

I am very pleased with the work Nelson Brothers have done for me. They replaced the last ten feet of my sewer line where it meets the tap.  It was a deep, difficult job but Doug was skilled and professional and took great care to disturb as little of my yard as possible.  They made an unpleasant event much more bearable! Thank you!

We never got the opportunity to do business due to the multiple incidents of unprofessionalism. I asked if they could call when they're on their way and was told that's not a standard business practice, but they would call with ample notice if they were delayed or had to cancel. I got a call from Jeremy 30 minutes before the appointment time to cancel since Rick had to perform an emergency service. I asked if anyone else could come in his place but Rick, the owner, is the only one that provides estimates. I was disappointed that I did not get better notice as I already left work. I later get a call to say he will be on his way, followed by another call to say he won't due to an accident but they'd call tomorrow to schedule another time. That call never came, so I called back on Monday to say this has been a hassle and I'd like someone to prioritize the rescheduled appointment. Rick called back and before I answered I heard him say she's not going to like what I have to say and despite asking multiple times what they could do better (not rely on one person for estimates, call back when they say they will, give a better heads up for cancellations, etc.) which I was ready to provide honest feedback he had it go in one ear and out the other and instead of listening made me feel bad about his accident and said there are many other plumbers I can go with. That's what I'm going to do. I hope they learn to provide better customer service.

Called early in the am to explain my plumbing issue and schedule an appointment. Gentleman who took the call was more interested in telling me what the charges would be and how I would pay than what my issue was .   Scheduled an appt anyway and when I still had not gotten the on the way call 1/2 hour after appt time I found another plumber and cancelled. Seems I never even got scheduled to start with.

I have had to call on Nelson Bros for a couple of things around my house and each time I have been more than impressed. Not only did the person that they sent out came with-in the time frame that they gave me, the job(s) were done in a timely fashion and well explained during the process. There was no nonsense and I was lucky to have someone explain the problems that I was facing, along with taking the time to show me preventative actions for any future problems that could arise from certain situations. I am very thankful to have this number handy and I have recommended them to multiple friends and they all have said the same thing.

My husband and I always call three contractors when we have a home repair.  We selected Nelson Brothers.  Based on our experience anytime we have a plumbing repair in the future we are confident to just call Nelson Brothers.  Michael is a great asset on their team.  He has a great attitude, was friendly and confident, was great at keeping us informed of the next step and loves the company he represents.  Thank you!

Very good, honest service.  Found that we simply needed a minor adjustment to a water valve and not an elaborate repair.   I appreciate a service that is straightforward and fixes what needs to be fixed without all the add ons and upselling just to $$$.   Wish I had found this service a lot sooner (and prior to using another bigger name in the area that took me down with overcharges), but they're 'my plumbers' now and going forward, and I will gladly recommend to family and friends without hesitation.   This service can be trusted and I highly recommend them.

I first called Nelson for a water heater replacement about two years ago. I'd been using two other plumbers, but a contractor friend recommended Nelson. They quoted me a reasonable price, and then did one of the nicest, cleanest installs I'd ever seen. They replaced some of the existing plumbing (some of it questionable, done by the last plumber who installed a heater), and were in and out very quickly. The second time I called them was for a drain cleaning. They were not only the cheapest of the three services I've used in the past 24 years in this house, they were the quickest and the cleanest as well. They even squeezed me in at the end of the day after initially scheduling me for the following morning. From now on, they're the only service I'll use.

I called Nelson Brothers amongst a few other plumbers before making my decision on who to go to. A lady named Jennifer picked up initially was very helpful in addressing my questions and scheduling my service appointment for the next day. Rob called me the next day within the time range specified by Jennifer the day before and told me that he would be there shortly. I, however was still at work and could not be at the house at his specified time. Rob was very considerate of my time and told me that he would wait for me which was about 2 hours. When I arrived home, Rob went straight to work and explained everything he was doing, why he was doing it and answered any questions I had. Rob was very polite, friendly, and knowledeable.  In the end, Rob fixed my clogged drain in no time, gave me some advice and went along his way. Thank you Rob! I highly recommend Nelson Bros. A+ in service!

Picked Nelson Brothers based on a recommendation from a neighbor.  A leaking pipe causing damage to household goods needless to say it was a mess.  They came out first thing the next day and their technician Creith was excellent. Explained the problem, took a picture to show me the problem and made the necessary repairs in a little over an hour.  And cleaned up.  I would recommend Nelson Brothers and especially Creith for any future plumbing work.

Once again, Nelson Brothers did a great job. I've used them many times over the decades, and they always get the job done, on time, and they don't go over the quoted estimate.
For a young guy, Mike really knew his stuff. Mike was also polite, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Besides cleaning my storm drains - the job I called for - he also gave me advice about the drains, my water heater, even my bathroom.
Keep up the good work Nelson Bros!

We had them come out to replace our old water heater. They redid the valve work, vent and piping to make the area look cleaner, more efficient and be brought up to code. Pricing was competitive as they were actually a little cheaper than others in the area. They were also able to come out first thing the next business day after I called. Quick and very friendly. The plumber explained what he was planning to do and provided very accurate pricing and time estimates. We will definitely use them again for future plumbing needs.

I was extremely unimpressed with Nelson Brothers. I set up an estimate and still didn't have a price breakdown 2 business days later, yet they wanted all my credit card information. Company policy. They would not give me straight answers on when they could give me a price breakdown of the job or even when they would start the job! When I asked them what the hold up was I told Sometimes the guys stay late on the jobs, it's a tough job, we are doing the best we can. Over 30 years in the plumbing business? I think it's time to retire. Total waste of my very limited time.

I had a plugged drain in my tub and called a local plumber Gary the plumber who came out with his wife, who also thought she was a plumber too(was a very strange experience) I was told by Gary who never put pencil to paper that it would cost me $1,000, realizing something just wasn't right I paid him his $40.00 he asked for for his 10 minutes in my home and he left knowing I would never ask him back to do the work, this is known as a scare tactic to get you upset and pay the con artist prices. I called Nelson Brothers Plumbing and they sent Creith the very next day at the actual time we had set, he was like an angel with a plunger and auger!! He went through the back of one of my cupboards, he didn't have to tear my kitchen wall out like Gary the plumber had said was the only way? I have never seen anyone work so hard to correct a problem without inflating my bill, Creith was here about an hour and 45 minutes, fixed everything and my bill was $330.00. Highly recommend Nelson Brothers Plumbing!!! Jeremy in the office is also extremely nice, they had me at hello. :)

After a competitor gave me an estimate that turned out to be TWICE what Nelson's did, and improperly seated a toilet, I called Nelson's. My relative remembers using them way back in 1964. Doug is the salt of the Earth, a Plumber for Forty plus years. He fixed the toilet for free, and dug out the corroded old soil pipe and replaced it with a PVC pipe. Job was done in one day. I highly recommend them.

Our toilets in our house seemed to be communicating with each other (i.e., one flush caused a splash in the other), and caused a gurgle in the kitchen sink.  Nelson Brother's assured me that it was the main sewer line, and had the guy out to snake it (service charge about $150).  When the problem wasn't fixed, they returned and after looking around, diagnosed it as a venting issue.  The plumber told me that although it wasn't an emergency, per se, that I should have someone come out, onto the roof, and clean out the main vent (service charge about $100).  I waited a month or so, and then scheduled the service.

Today, I left work early to meet the guy to have the problem fixed.  He arrived, looked at the issue, and promptly told me that my venting issues aren't that big of a deal, and that I really didn't need to spend the money on having the problem fixed.  Also, should the vent become completely blocked, that really wasn't a big deal either.

Oh, but by the way, I still needed to spend $100 for him to stand in my living room for 10 minutes.  And, oh, by the way, if you do decide to have the vent cleaned out, *if it does become necessary,* we wont apply it to a future service.  Are you KIDDING me? I understand that plumbers need to be paid, but not applying it to the potential future service, *should it need to be done,* is just a bad business model.

Not to mention the bait and switch--have a plumber recommend a service that actually does not need to be done, just to have another plumber show up and tell you that, but still require a service charge.

All he had to say was, I was just trying to be up front (as if being upfront about how you are ripping me off is OK) and sorry about the mix-up (well, YOUR mix-up just cost me MY money).  ZERO accommodations.

Basically, this company ripped me out of $100 today.

Last time I will use this company.

Thank God for Nelson Brothers and for Doug! These guys know their business, and did major damage control after one of their competitors jacked everything up at my house. I don't know if thank you is good enough, but these guys went above and beyond for me and I am most grateful.

Ive had Nelson Brothers to my home a few times.  Replaced a garbage disposal, unclogged a basement drain, and replaced a pipe.  Compared to other plumbers they are reasonable, know what they are doing without having to make a bunch of phone calls, and once they get to your home do the job quick without a lot of chitchat which i like.  Only downfall is the window of time for appointments .... too long. You will waste your whole day waiting.  But compared to some of the other plumbers I've used its worth the wait

To begin with, I am in charge of customer service for a large department at a major university, so I am very picky when it comes to customer service.

Called them for emergency service on a Sunday (today).  Reception was very polite and on the ball.  The tech called me back within 5 minutes.  After explaining the situation to him, he talked me through the diagnosis and we both agreed that it could wait until Monday morning.  It would have been so easy for them to just send someone out and charge us the Sunday premium rate, but they did the right and honest thing.

Will update on their actual work, but I felt this experience in customer service was already worth five stars.  Kudos.

I would NEVER call or recommend Nelson Bros to anyone. The experience started out nice, came out w/i a couple hours and the guy was nice enough. The issue turned into a bigger one and the theatrics about what a huge expensive fix it was going to be along w/ the condescending attitude was ridiculous. They said it would be btwn $1500-5000 and would have to tear up my whole basement. I called Waterwork and the job was done in combination w/ fixing a leaky toilet for $1380.

I called Nelson Brothers on the Friday between Xmas & New Years @ 2:30pm for an estimate to replace the house sewer line connection at the main. I had another plumbing company in earlier that day attempting to clear the blockage but gave up saying the sewer line had collapsed and they didn't make those repairs. It was fortunate I called Nelson Bros. next talked to Steve that he would send out his guy confident that the blockage could be cleared. Ed arrived shortly after 5:00pm cold snowy and dark, but set to work and with inside 45 minutes had the line cleared no collapse.
I have experience working with Ed & Elmer of Nelson Bros. since 1984 and never been disappointed or dissatisfied with their services. Top notch then and now. To boot they charged less the other plumber and saved me the unnecessary expense of digging up a perfectly good line. I'm sure the cost for a new line had I followed the other company recommendation would have been around 3,500 to 4,500 plus the house being unusable until repaired. Not very likely to happen between the holidays.

Great service professionals that know what their doing.

Thanks

I had an appointment (pull and reset toilet) scheduled for between 2-5, but as it was on a day in which we were all digging out of a snow storm, i expected him to run late. No problem as i had planned on being home all day anyway.  The tech, Kevin, arrived and was obviously at the end of a long day, but was cordial and friendly. He did the work quickly and cleaned up completely afterward.  I've been in search for a new plumber and I'm glad I called Nelson Brother's. I would most definitely recommend them and specifically Kevin

I was charged $325.00 to unclog a drain.  Four days later it was clogged again.  When I called, they were not in any hurry to correct the problem and wanted to charge me $200.00 more to run a camera and then charge me more after they came up with a new solution.   I was told that a plumber would show up and they never did.  He told me that the owner would call, but did not.  I finally called her and she was nice but would not resolve the problem satisfactorily.  By the time she called it was the end of the day after 2 days of a re-clogged drain and was going to charge me another $275.00 to snake my drain.

I endured a very cold shower yesterday morning.     I just knew that my hot water heater had died.    As a busy single parent I thought, oh no,............one more item on my to do list.   I left my credit card on the stove and left my house unlocked.    On my way to work I dropped my dog off at my sister's house.     I was so hoping that I could find someone to come to my house and replace my hot water tank while I was at work.     The first company that I called would not make a service call if no one was home.    The second call that I made was to Nelson Brothers.     They faxed me a sheet which I filled out with my credit card information and my signature.      I was able to stay at work and not be inconvenienced by running home to let a repair person in.     A gentleman called me when the job was complete.    They did NOT replace my hot water tank.    They repaired my existing tank.   The total bill,..........$112.     I highly recommend Nelson Brothers!!!!!!
