Each time we've used Van Allen, our experience has exceeded the previous one!  Heard a funny noise at 7:30 am coming from the basement and discovered that the water heater was gushing water from its base.  Called Van Allen and by 5:30 pm the same day we were enjoying hot water from our state-of-the-art (and up to code I might add) new water heater.  All the techs that came to our house were prompt, knowledgable and kind. Couldn't recommend more highly!

Worst experience, never call them again,charging too much and not do a good job,the first time about 4 months ago,i called them in the morning, and they worked for me was after 5 pm, they told me after 5pm is charging for over time, that's okay,I paid them. and this time ,same problem about the sewer, they worked no more then 45mins,and charged me 1.5 hours, thay told me they charging the travel time,  that's mean how long takes them to my house, and how long takes them to go back to the shop.wow,that's surprise me, never never call them again.

This was my first time connecting with a plumber via Yelp and I could not be more pleased!  Luke arrived a few minutes early, which I really like.  The work was done quickly and the result was a flawless repair.  I really appreciate owner run businesses, they take great pride in their work and go the extra mile.  Ohnstad Pluming is now my go to plumber.  Highly recommend you use him for your plumbing needs and, yes, the 530 area code is correct. :)

Back in February I had rented a VRBO in Tahoe Donner to enjoy with friends and family. It was a lovely home, but the upstairs main toilet was an antique, and no match for two teenage boys. On Saturday morning, the darn thing backed up and sent up a rushing cascade of water faster than the Truckee River after an El Nino winter. The property owner was completely unhelpful and showed zero interest in the problem. Needless to say, this put a little dent on my winter Tahoe dream vacation.

Thanks to Yelp, and John Greenside, this disaster was quickly averted. I'm used to using a snake to unclog the toilet (ahem, teenage boys), but the one I purchased at the local Ace wasn't sufficient for this relic of a commode. John answered the call on a Saturday, came out within a couple of hours, brought out a plumbing python snake that dwarfed my store bought garter snake, and fixed the problem. At an exceptionally reasonable price.

I was obviously bummed at the property owner's response, and John went to bat for me, pointing out the toilet really needed to be replaced. He offered to speak with the owner and did so. Eventually, the owner agreed to split the cost with me.

John, you saved the day. Thank you so much. So glad to support honest tradespeople in Truckee!

5 Star Plumbing hasn't completed my repair and I am already so impressed.  A few of the other companies could not get us till over a week.    It was an emergency water leak from inside the wall.    The water was leaking in the garage, bathroom, bedroom closet.   5 Star Plumbing made calls to move the schedule around to get one of their top guys to swing by home within the hour!

They responded to EVERY call quickly and effectively.  They arrived on time, communicated directly with my tenants and warranty company.   They are coming out tomorrow morning again to complete the repair.  (With this being a home warranty issue, they couldn't get approval to move forward during their first visit)

They updated me thoroughly with possible service needs to repair the leak. (They will not know what will be needed for sure, till they open the wall)   They said they will try their best to not have me needing to call on other service providers to repair the walls, cabinets, and/or carpet.  

They just seem to get it.   I know all will be taken care of perfectly.

great friendly service, flexibility with setting up time to get the work done. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, did great work, does not try to sell unnecessary work, even showed me how to get my irrigation system working that I didn't know how to use since buying my home a year ago.

Let me tell you these folks are amazing! First off I contacted several companies on a Friday afternoon and they were the first to respond and say they could have a person out immediately! The other companies insisted even though I had no hot water they couldn't send a tech until next week! The customer service from Preferred was impeccable! Jorge was my TECH and not only was he professional but he went the extra mile to explain step by step what he was diagnosing and told me straight up what my costs would be! He explained things in a way easy to understand and provided amazing service on a Saturday! I am extremely pleased with them and will definitely call them for plumbing anytime!

We had them out for various plumbing issues through our home warranty. Carlos was super nice and fixed the more run-of-the-mill plumbing issues with no problem, but he just couldn't figure out the issue with our water heater/recirculation pump. They came out 3 or 4 times and kept replacing the pump, but the issue (had to wait 2 minutes before getting hot water) would still persist. Finally, their dispatcher rather rudely said they couldn't help us and basically said our house was just too big. The home warranty company reassigned us to another company, who diagnosed and fixed the problem on the first try, and now we have hot water in 10 seconds throughout our big house. While Friendly Plumbing was friendly in the beginning, I would not do business with them again because of that last exchange with their dispatcher.

Josh answered the phone when I called, then made it to Kings Beach in 15 minutes in time for PUD to show up and turn the water back on after shutting off the broken irrigation system.

Handled my elderly mother with care and got her water back on.

Not cheap but you get what you pay for - especially with the whole thing fixed start to finish in an hour.

Johnson Plumbing was responsive and efficient in fixing and replacing my leaky hot water heater.  My grandparents, my parents and now I call Johnson Plumbing when I have issues.

Quick to respond and  set up an appointment for the same day.  Arrived on time, diagnosed the problem, replaced the part and repair was completed!   Alan did an excellent job.   Will keep their number handy!

We called Rapid Rooter because the water was running in our toilet. The guy came, looked at the toilet for 15 minutes, said I don't know what the problem is and said he had never seen anything like it before, then charged us $65. These people boast 25 years of experience and getting the job done right the first time is our mission. Horrible experience.

Had this company do a little work at my home. When their work failed a couple years later I had a different company come in and fix the problem. They asked how much I paid for the original service and they were amazed how much I was charged. Get a second opinion before you shell out big bucks to these guys!

I cannot warn you enough. Do not go with this plumbing company and definitely do not go with Nikko. He came to diagnose my hot water issue. Said it was a faulty tank and that install was fine. Was nice and advised me best thing to do would be contact Rheem as it was only 2yrs old. He said call him back to come back. I got case # and approval from Rheem within 15min. Called Nikko back. Was going to have them replace for me. Couldn't get a hold of office staff or Nikko for over a day. I left messages with office (goes to a Douglas) twice and also with Nikko twice. Finally got a hold of Douglas. He said he would get a hold of Nikko. Still nothing. Mind you I've been without hot water for 2 days and I have a 6yr old and elderly father living in my home. I waited a few more hours then called other companies.  Luckily i found one and the owner came by to diagnose. Ended up not even being the water heater. He sent over 2 of his techs right away. They corrected the problem, drained the pan, re lighted and sure enough all is great! They were here just under 2hrs, and saved me a shit load of money. Nikko then called me and left a message. Saying he's sorry to lose our business but they don't have time for a week or so and he suggest we call someone else. Not the impression he gave us on first visit. Then I kindly replied to him that we already did call another company and luckily the information he gave us was incorrect and thanked him for his time. He followed up by text I have the screen shots and you can call me a Karen all you want but I'm tired of businesses not having customer service and respect... he replies with good luck with your sub par company and your water heater was installed incorrectly.... yet when he originally talked with us he said the install was fine but some things were not to code with original work but didn't bare weight on actual problem. I replied with WOW so professional. Then he had the nerve to tell me I wasted his time. How did I waste your time when I was about to hire you to do work I didn't need done and cost I didn't need to incur because you never called me back. And you told me to call another company anyway. Wow can't believe contractor's these days. DO NOT USE THIS PLUMBING COMPANY!

THIS SERVICE INSTANCE DOESN'T DESERVE ANY STARS!

Earlier today, Roto Rooter tech called me from my tenant's residence saying they charge a flat rate of $780 for a roof drain clean out.  I immediately became irate!!!  The tech quickly said, as a courtesy they would decrease it and charge $500.  Arriving at the address just a couple minutes later, I see the gentleman doing their job.  Which I'm grateful for.  The man running the snake spooler said I was rude.  You bet I was rude.  Two other plumbers I called while in transit to get there, quoted $195 per hour for a two man job.    PLEASE GO TO ANY OTHER SOURCE who charge by the hour FOR DRAIN clean outs.  
Talk about price-gouging!!  Or just plain ripping off average citizens who work hard and struggle to pay rent that this landlord keeps below what is going on in the current, speculative, real estate environment.... Yep! that's Roto-Rooter!  SHYSTERS!!!  During call to their office, to air grievance, the lady was nice but OF ZERO HELP!!

I had a serious leak in main water valve that controlled water into the house.  He is very busy but said the nature of the leak needs immediate attention and came out first thing in am. They were fast working and real pro's. This valve was changed two years ago by Ben Franklin Plumbing with a very inferior valve for about twice the price and twice t he time to fix. Thank you Joe for great service.
