My house was built in 1912, and when we bought it, it was clear that the exterior side door had seen heavy use for a long time. In fact, the door was practically falling to pieces, barely opened, didn't have a deadbolt that latched, and was secured by the type of interior flip-over bar that you see in hotel rooms. It certainly wasn't usable! Clearly, this needed to be addressed.
We first had a custom wood door made, sized a little bit big to allow for fitting. But of course, it needed to be installed, and the door frame, threshold, etc. were all in rough shape. Now, the husband is a handy guy, but it was pretty obvious that this project was way above his pay grade. I called ten different handyman services and half of them didn't even call me back, but Bill promptly returned my message and made an appointment to come actually look at the job (I didn't trust anyone giving an estimate from a texted photo!). It was clear from that visit that Bill really understood what was involved and was both able and willing to do a quality job, which was very reassuring. He emailed a nicely detailed estimate, and I was able to put a deposit on a credit card online. Bill was also very easy to reach via text message, which was great.
It took a month or two to get worked into Bill's schedule (weather didn't help, as this couldn't be done in the rain), but once he got started, he made our job his top priority. All in all, it took something like five days and involved building a new (square) door frame, fitting and hanging the new door, putting in and keying the knob and deadbolt, installing a new threshold, painting the door, frame, and trim, and even filling in the concrete and caulking along the edge of the house to help prevent water from coming in. I can't even begin to describe all the skills it took to make this happen, and the end result is a GORGEOUS, FUNCTIONAL door that I can't wait to actually use.
Needless to say, I can't recommend Bill highly enough. If you want something done right and you're willing to pay for quality, give him a call! I've already got another job in mind for Bill, and he will definitely be my go-to handyman in the future. I can't imagine letting anyone else work on my house!

Highly knowledgeable, fair, courteous, and friendly; can't ask for more from folks who do a great job at a fair price!!
I needed my two outdoor hose bibs (spigots) replaced. Assumed they burst at the bibs because I had no leaks inside or outside, only a lack of pressure when I connected the hoses. Caleb ask me several questions and then proceeded to give me a detailed explanation of what needed to be done. A total professional!! He also gave me a price range based on if everything was as I stated. If the job became more detailed (I.e., a leak or leaks) then it may be on the higher end of the quote. I throughly enjoyed this discussion because while I needed an professional, I also appreciate being informed and treated as an equal.
Elijah came two days later to perform the work...total professional again. He talked me through what he was going to do and proceeded quickly and efficiently. Thankfully the problem was as suspected without additional issues and voila! The price was the bottom end of the estimate! Elijah also cleaned up what little mess he had to make, which also made my spouse happy. I will use them pretty exclusively for all my plumbing needs. I highly recommend that you do too.

Called Chucks Plumbing and Heating on 10/15/2015 told them was looking to buy a new furnace and ac. A lady told me someone would call me back and come out to give me an estimate. I called back on 10/19/2015 and stated nobody ever called me. She stated she would check and someone would call me. 10/20/2015 nobody ever called me back it is amazing how difficult it is to get someone to come out when you are willing to spend $6000-$10000 on an new furnace or ac and they can not even call you back. I can not imagine how hard it would be if you had a problem.

Our tenants reported that our home's basement was flooding with sewage due to a collapsed sewer line. John responded quickly and rearranged his job schedule to complete our repair asap. Throughout the job John provided great communication and reliable service. John's pricing was also very fair. I would absolutely hire John again and refer him to other customers.

I am so impressed by Jerry at Advocate Master Plumbing. I had another company come out and tried to get me for a grand total of $475 to fix a sewer gas smell. I called Jerry and told him my issue. He told me to investigate three areas that the smell could be coming from and he was right! I was able to poor some pine sol down the catch all area of the bathroom sink and the problem was fixed! I will call Jerry from here on out with any plumbing issues I have!

My furnace is fine, but I just wanted to be preventative and have it checked over for peace of mind for the rest of winter. This was the week of the Polar Vortex. So, I first called another company (KB) to check it out.
Long story short, the CO levels on the exhaust were way high (500 when it should be under 100). Now, the CO inside the house was fine, it was just the exhaust vent. Still, a concern. They said it's probably the heat exchanger (though the flame test was fine) but to clean it and diagnose it, it would cost so much I might as well buy a new furnace ($3500).
So I called Midwest, told them the story and I wanted them for a second opinion. They came out and weren't here long and said, yeah, it's probably an issue with the exchangers and I should get a new furnace and they gave me basically the same estimate of $3500.
So, I was bummed out, having to buy a new furnace.
I called a third place (Priced Right) for another estimate. They said, Honestly, I don't think anything is wrong with your furnace. He checked it over (just because he was there) and said he sees no indication of exchanger issues. He goes outside and noticed the exhaust vent was blowing right into the intake valve. I fixed the exhaust direction and he re-tested the CO levels and lo and behold, the CO levels were back to normal.
Now, I don't know what the deal was but it seems Midwest (and KB) should have caught that.
