I don't usually leave bad reviews but I was surprised by todays service. I was told over the phone there would be a $79 up front fee which would not be applied to service. That threw me off because most companies will apply it if you decide to use their service but I based my decision off the reviews and agreed anyways. After the tech looked at my unit he mentioned it is most likely a leak and it would be between 200-300 to identify the leak and mentioned that a rough estimate if I decided to fix the leak would be an additional 2,000-3,000! To top it off he said there was an additional $100 diagnostic fee which I was never told there would be a separate fee to diagnose aside from the $79. I guess the $79 just covers the gas to get to your home! Now I'm $179 short and not even certain if the issue was a leak or where the leak is at! Would never use this company again!

We could not be happier with our experience with Hays. They were extremely quick to reply and get us a tech to the house. Within 2 days they came out, quoted and fixed the issues we were having. Jason was our tech and he was kind, professional and really set us up for success.

Honest, Fast, Professional, and Reliable. After firing a previous plumbing company for a sewer line inspection, I hired Hays. I was on a very short inspection timeline so I needed them ASAP. I called on a Sunday morning and a tech was out the next day. The previous company tried to tell me I needed a complete sewer repipe in the house and Hays showed me and explained to me everything I was seeing, with their cameras, that the lines were fine.

There was a complete difference to the pictures the previous company showed and what I was actually seeing with Hays' sewer line cameras.

This company saved me a lot of stress and money!

I cannot say enough good things about this company! Our air conditioner went out in 114° and our warranty company would not be able to get anyone out for over a week. Hayes had installed the original system in our home before we bought it so we gave them a call. Not only did Charlie come out the same day but went above and beyond. We were not able to fix the unit the same day but he made sure we had some cool air and worked diligently to find the parts we needed. He was communicating with me in the evenings and on the weekend truly going above and beyond. They fixed our system and it was worth every penny! I would HIGHLY recommend Hays and can't thank Charlie enough!

Reached out to this company about a week ago to get a quote on a furnace mounted humidifier. The sales person arrived on time and was friendly. Before he left he said I'd have a quote before COB. That never happened. I called the next day. The person on the phone said they would look into the matter straight away and I would receive a quote shortly. That never happened. I called for the last time the following day. Yet another person said they would elevate and I would without fail receive a quote. That never happened.
Everyone can decide for themselves if they want to do business with these folks. It's clear to me how they value their customer. I'm moving on. Jeez.

Wow!!!! I just had an install today of two new units. I can't say enough about the quality of salesmanship and installation we received. I would highly suggest Hays for any services that they offer. Their team is knowledgeable and cordial. They also came way under a price quote from a competitor and doubled the warranty. We also got a wifi thermostat was the hi-light of my husbands day!!!  Thanks Hays we are customers for life.

Had a pretty epic issue with the sewer line at my house. It couldn't have come at a worse time. My wife and I were in the process of finishing our costly landscaping project. Our sewer line stopped up in the house. No flooding which was good. We hired the first company that could come out( not Hay's). They removed the blockage and put a camera down the line. They located what they thought was Orangeburge sewer pipe. They quoted me an insane amount,$5000 to dig a 2ft x 2ft x 3ft hole to confirm their finding. I was floored, that is insanity. I started searching again and found Hay,s. Brett showed up and was ready to rock. I explained the time restraint concerning the schedule of landscapers and the issues with the sewer line. He assured me it wouldn't be an issue. After scoping the line and digging the initial hole, for a fraction of the price the other company quoted mind you, he confirmed it was Orangeburge. He gave me a quote and walked  me thru the pipe bursting process. This was a Thursday. I accepted the quote with a fist bump( COVID protocol) Fast forward to Monday and I had a team of guys ready to go. They dug a hole in my front yard and one in my back yard, this is for pipe bursting. They also trenched a section in my back yard, to avoid damaging existing utilities. The pipe bursting process took a little over an hour. The trenched area was laid by hand. The entire process from digging to back filling took 3 days. You can barely tell they were here. Amazing to think I have a brand new main sewer line from the back yard to the city tie-in. The price was fair, the peace of mind is priceless. Thank you Brett , for leading the project start to finish and Nick, for answering all my stupid questions as well as the entire Hay's team for making a difficult situation truly painless.

My AC went out at midnight on Tuesday. Wednesday morning I got a referral from a friend who advised me to call Hays. They were called at 9 a.m. in the morning and at 4 p.m. that same day, a tech arrived. The tech name is Karl he was very courteous, prompt, informative and knowledgeable. I wouldn't hesitate to refer them. Several other companies were called and they stated they could not arrive until Friday mid-morning. Thank you to the management at Hays for running an efficient company.

These folks really have it all together, starting with a readily available and eager-to-help office crew. Hays was recommended to me by a roof gutter outfit because of underground drainage issues in our backyard. They were quick and accommodating in scheduling a convenient appointment, kept us updated on that, and the assigned plumber did likewise that morning. He (Randy) turned out to be one of their more experienced and astute guys in diagnosing the cause of our backup, and to boot he was laser-focused on addressing what was needed to fix it (no surprise once I noticed the USMC pin hanging around his neck). Plus he was super-helpful in showing me some maintenance tricks to keep things flowing and prevent recurrent problems. All-in-all, a great service experience!

Loved that they showed up with in a mask, as safety is number one right now. We had new AC's back in April, and since then, they have come back 2X already to check to see everything works. The staff is super friendly and easy to work with. They do work with another party, if they need to put a hole in your wall to change the thermostat.

Once again we had an AMAZING experience with this company. We received a brand new water heater 2 1/2 years ago, but the company that put it in did not do things correctly. We have had four issues with it since then. Hayes came out and noticed that the pipes were not even soldered  to the wall and fixed that. We then had an issue with it tripping the breaker. Hayes came back out and found that it was leaking from the way it was first installed and became rusted. They have switched out the old water heater and replaced it. Nick the manager was absolutely amazing and so kind.

I cannot say enough great things about this company. Every time we interact with them everyone has been wonderful.

**Above and beyond** My AC had stopped working. Jerry and Nolan came out, listened to all the things I had already tried, breakers, batteries in the thermostat.  They immediately got to work and realized there was a hole and I had a leak. They didn't have the part, but would have it next week.  My biggest concern I explained, was that my daughter was in the hospital battling COVID would hopefully be coming home soon and the attic opening is in my her closet.  After a few minutes, they told me they found a part in AZ and would drive to go get it. Jerry stayed, and started removing the bad part, while Nolan drove to pick up the part.  Let's just say by end of day, my AC was working and they have a very loyal customer who would highly recommend them!!  I can't say enough, thank you so much!

Called these folks because other companies proposals were all over the board in price. We were in an emergency situation no ac on 100 degree day. Their response was that they would come look at it to make a proposal for a FEE of 98 dollars. Never use these thieves!!

I just had a RO system installed today. The office was efficiant and organized. They verified and reminded me as well. Matt was informative and patient with all my questions. Of particular interest was an additional step added to the system that boosts the alkalinity after filtration which addressed my main concern with Reverse Osmosis. Matt installed the system the same day which saved us another appointment although I'm sure that is not always an option.

It is easy to recommend these folks and I will likely have them do a whole house system next.

I was dealing with a warranty company when my AC went out. The temperatures ranged from 100-106F. It is now a week and I haven't heard from that company since they sent the third tech out. A friend recommended Hays Cooling. Within two hours of my call they sent out Aaron. He discovered the problems and even warned me that what little work had been done created a fire hazard. My unit is 20 years old and parts are almost impossible to find. He's returning today to measure for a whole new unit. Aaron explained everything to me in detail; he is very professional and knowledgeable.  I am cancelling my membership with the warranty company.

Couldn't be happier with Hay's. Frank and Mike are excellent, very knowledgeable HVAC gurus and we're grateful for them. The supporting staff is also wonderful to work with. They ALL get the job done!! We made a switch from using a big well known company in the Valley, for many reasons, and Hays checked out. I was upfront about expectations and type of service my clients expect and they always make me proud. I'm a property manager and Hays makes my job easier. They deliver timely service, decent prices, and professionalism.  This is going to sound cheesy, but it it pays to call Hays.

I don't recommend their plumbing department. They couldn't figure out the most basic toilet issue. I ended up fixed my toilet myself by watching a YouTube video AND was still out $100+ for their fee.

Man trying to find the right company to come to your house for a repair, can be a nail-biting experience. There are so many to choose from. The 1st one I called was recommended by my neighbor and he never showed up. See what I mean?
Well I got lucky this time around. From the pleasant receptionist who at 0900 said they could be at my home today. To the professional repairman who called my wife to say he was on his way. Job done right! Thanks Hays! Now when it comes to HVAC issues, my nail biting days are over!

Our AC unit died on 7/4.  Our unit was brand new having been installed 3 months earlier.  With the temperatures outside of over 100 degrees we knew we had to get someone out to fix it ASAP.  Hays has an emergency number for just such an issue.

Rebecca answered the call and was able to get a technician out to our home within the hour.  A blocked condensation pipe was the culprit and our unit was repaired in less than an hour.

We are very impressed with this company and have used them for years for our HVAC and plumbing needs.  They will be our go to company for these issues going forward.

Please allow me to paint a picture for you. It's December, my wife and I have recently welcomed our second daughter into the world and on the morning of our second day home from the hospital our central heating goes out.

Now I know it's Arizona and yeah it doesn't get that cold however this is 2 days after we get home with a baby that had an extended stay in the hospital due to some complications so naturally my wife and I are a bit on edge about this issue.

We have heard rave reviews from everyone who has worked with the Hays family and they were all correct. We reached out and they made space in their busy schedule on the same day, even having their technician Mark work late to resolve our issue and get us back up and running same day!!

To summarize, clean technical staff, fair prices and exceptional service from a locally family owned business!!

We just installed our replacement Trane Air Conditioner after 20 years of faithful service in the Phoenix Desert. Over the past 2 years Hays serviced the old unit and said you still don't need to replace yet. Finally it was time and their crew did a spectacular job. Arrived at 7 and Done by 1pm. House was clean as could be and this included an attic install of the air exchanger. Looking forward to many years with our new Trane

My AC died on Father's Day. I called Hays and they were quick to respond.

They called 30 minutes before they arrived so I wasn't sitting around waiting.

The tech was knowledgeable and courteous. He showed me why the unit stopped and then quoted me a price.  When he told me he didn't have the part on his truck I assumed it be another day without AC. Nope, the part was delivered to my home in less than 30 minutes.

Frank from Hays came when I was looking for a second opinion.  ACE tech had come out the day before and said our AC unit compressor was bad and tried selling us a 11,000 buck system.

Frank did a thorough inspection and found that the previous tech had left the blower on our HVAC system disconnected. That caused the AC unit to overheat and shut off, to which the ACR tech claimed meant a bad compressor. Frank pointed out that these units have a fail safe that kicks off when over heating. The overheating was caused by the previous tech not reconnecting the blower.

Honest service from Frank and we will call Hays again and again.

We continue to be impressed with the service Frank provides. He came today for our yearly AC checkup.  Same great service and professionalism.

Mightily impressed with Hays Cooling from 1st phone call about our 13-year old malfunctioning A/C unit August 20!  Jerry came to the house within a few hours and diagnosed the problem!  Then Jack discovered that due to the old configuration on the roof and it being a Thursday night (in the middle of a lightening storm) he promised us a new unit on the roof and operational by Monday morning.  IT IS DONE - Monday 9:00am!  This company came as a word-of-mouth recommendation and I will continue to spread the word about this excellent business!! Highest commendation  to all who helped- from initial phone call to the hard working guys on the roof! Thank you Hays family!

Two stars for the friendliness of the tech who came out...other than that?  Needed a sink replaced-I have a garbage disposal and water purification.  I was buying everything-sink/faucets/hardware....just needed someone to take out the old (drop in) and replace with my stuff. $1450.00 estimate...nuff said!
Follow up:  Had another service come out and replace and install AND replace the water valves...$500.  Hays said it would take all day...took three hours. Moving to one star also-why try to rip people off?

I have a service contract with Hays. I contacted their call service at 8pm Friday after my rental tenant told me his AC was blowing heat. I was told a technican would call to let me know when they could schedule service. I followed up at noon Saturday, 5pm Saturday and 4pm today and still have yet to receive a call back to provide service as of 11pm Sunday.

Wonderful company to work with, courteous, on time, helpful, not pushy.
We met with sales person Jeff to discuss replacing our 25 year old Trane AC and were presented with best two options to meet our needs. We had Justin service our unit and he was fabulous. not only did he service our equipment he notified us of spiders in our crawl space. Kudos for bravery as well as service. We will purchase in the Fall, wouldn't do business with anyone else.

I am shocked at how many positive reviews there are because this place hosed me in terms of pricing.  I would urge you to fully read each five star review and look to see how many reviews the person writing actually has... if it's only one or two or three they are probably a friend or family member and not actually an honest reviewer.  Further, this company advertises with Yelp so perhaps they let them have wiggle room with iffy reviews.  I wish I would have read more of the one and two star reviews from real yelpers before choosing them.  Beware.

Called them up first thing in the morning and had my ac back up and running just after lunch.

A few hours after my call, Al was at my door.  Professional and ready, he set out to work immediately.

Basically spend the whole time fixing the last guys mistakes. He showed me all the damage he found and his fixes for them.

Less expensive than i expected and 10/10 would use again.

Had Hayes out after another company told us we needed to replace an entire air-conditioning heat pump system for $11,000.  Hayes fixed what was broken for 1200.  Very knowledgeable and great service.

Called Hays today because my AC drain pan was leaking into my laundry room. Scheduled it in the morning for the afternoon and they came well within the window of time. The technician that arrived was knowledgeable, friendly, and let me know what he was doing as he was doing it. Would recommend this company to everyone! Refreshing to find a place you can trust

I was shopping around for a new HVAC unit, as mine was 14 years old and on its last leg. I had several companies come out and give me estimates (5 or 6), including Hays Cooling and Heating.
Hays had the best price by far on the HVAC unit I wanted, but did not think I could afford. My new unit was installed less than a week latter by very professional installers. In fact everyone I have dealt with so far has been very friendly and professional.
The best part was there were no hidden fees or other financial surprises at the end of the install. They did everything they said they would at the price they quoted me!
I feel Hays did a GREAT job for me and look forward to doing business with them for many years to come.

I am very happy with the quality of service I received from this company.
I had a $6000 HVAC installed on my roof a couple of months ago. They showed up on time, were respectful, installed the unit in a timely manner, and had a very competitive price, (I got six bids for the job). After the initial installation, a quality control person came out and inspected the installers work. Then, six weeks or so later they came back to do a another maintenance on the unit. Nice job Hays!

We had a service appointment for 5-7pm last Friday June 6th.  (our upstairs AC vents were not blowing properly in our multi zone house).

A lady from the office called us around 6pm to say that our service person was running a bit late as he had to pick up some parts.
**After that phone call...nothing.  
**No service person, no other phone call to let us know what happened.  It's tough being stood up :)

We called the on call number the next day (Saturday) to ask what happened and to get a message to the company.  The on call person was very nice and apologetic and promised to get the message passed on right away.
**Again...no phone call, no communication.  We received no call back.
**We awaited a call from the office on Monday.  
**Again....nothing, no communication from Hay's.

So, yet again, we called.  They didn't apologize nor acknowledge the missed appointment, but they did schedule a service person (who showed up!).

Michael was very polite and courteous.  And- BONUS- he put booties on over his shoes while he was in our house (love that).  
**He said our AC unit was way undersized (it was 4 tons, and we absolutely needed 5 tons) for our house.   This is not the case at all and would not logically explain our issue.  This would not explain why only one zone was not cooling. The other two zones cooled like champs!

This technician then said a comfort specialist would be in touch with us with to discuss remedies.

Out of the blue, another person from Haye's called us, saying he'd read the notes and he wanted to send out someone who specialized in multi zone systems.  The notes did not seem correct to him.
**Why was this not done in the first place?  Our notes from our initial call were very clear that we had a 3 zone house.
**Had this person not happened to read our notes, this would've gone undetected and we'd have gone down a road of repairs that would perhaps not fix our issue.

The zone specialist -Mike-came out today.   He was phenomenal.  (kind and courteous as was the prior technician)
As we initially expected, the problem is with the damper not closing / opening properly.
He was great and we already have the quote and are awaiting scheduling.

Overall, we are disappointed in this experience.  We understand things happen and appointments cannot be kept.  But, this must be communicated.
At the very least, please acknowledge the inconvenience and the issue.  We waited 3 + hours on a Friday night.

Secondly, I'd expect our notes to be read thoroughly and a qualified, multi zone technician be sent out.

*EDIT to respond to the owner's message*
There were zero missed calls from Hay's to us.  I have the call logs.
Last communication from Hay's to us was Friday evening around 6pm or so- as i mentioned letting us know the driver had to make a stop for items.
There is no way 6 calls were missed, as they stated.  It's absurd.  
Additionally, why was there no follow up after we phoned the on call service on Saturday?
The fact that we had to keep chasing you down- making yet another call on Monday to find out what's going on is unacceptable.
A no show is acceptable as long as there is sufficient communication.
Please don't state 6 calls were made to us that were unanswered as that's demonstrably false.
Let's pretend that IS true.  Why were there no voice messages left?

Hays was quick to set an appointment for my yearly AC check up and was great with communication. The tech was running a little behind the morning of my appointment but Hays was very proactive in contacting and updating me. To clarify, I was not bothered by the tech running behind--I have no doubt they are swamped with AC needs in the AZ heat! My tech, Sam, arrived and was super friendly then got right to work. He did a very thorough job, explained everything to me clearly and didn't pressure me at all. They honored the online coupon/discount and Sam told me about the yearly preventative maintenance plan they have but did not try to pressure or up sell me at all. I will for sure be contacting Hays in the future for my AC needs.

I first called Simply the Best when my AC stopped last week. The technician came right out, diagnosed the problem, explaining to me the blower motor was no longer operable. He said it was too old to be replaced and that I needed a new system. He put me in touch with a salesman who came out and quoted me $5500 for a new AC unit (my condo is 600 sq ft). I asked if he would subtract 10%, as specified in the service agreement I have with Simply the Best. His response: I'm already reducing the cost by $1,000; that's far more than 10%. I asked about options. He said there are none; he had only one system that fit my condo. I decided to think things over.

Two days later the system resumed working just like before: nice cold air, good strong blower.

I decided to get a second opinion and called Hays. Thad came out and checked my blower: took amps draws, tested the capacitor and motor temp. All good. Then he checked out the thermostat, found bare wires and loose connections, which he adjusted and tightened.

The difference between Hays and Simply the Best? Day and night.

Our 13 year A/C stopped working last night, or should say the Blower stopped working.  I can do some A/C stuff, so went up on the roof, but couldn't get it working.  Called Hays at 7 AM, they said someone would be there between 9 and 11 AM.  They called back at 7:30 AM and asked if it would be ok if the guy showed up between 8:15-8:30 AM.  Of course I said no problem.   They were there at 8:25 AM, So time estimates where dead on!

I explained what was going on, we went up to the roof and they did a quick test to bypass the thermostat.   It worked, so I went back down and set the thermostat to on, it worked again.  They also recommended switch the fan motor for LOW to HIGH.  I inherited this A/C when I bought the house 3 years ago.  What great guys to explain how it was hooked up, I said let's do it. What a big difference that made in the house, really blows now, covers the rooms better (1954 house)!  They checked the freon, cap, etc and said it all tested good.  

They also told me, if it happened again most likely it means it's the circuit board, which I believe, he tapped the relay's on it before bypassing the thermostat.  The Circuit board is showing some burnt spots etc.  They did not recommend to replace it at this time, it might last 5 years, it might last 2 days they said.  If the issue occurs again, the board probably needs replaced.

They charged me standard $69 service fee, and 1/2 hour of labor.  Sounded right to me!  I cannot stress how great it was to find honest A/C service techs.  Hay's is my new #1 A/C company!

UPDATE: Received an e-mail from Steve Kenyon last night and a call from Chris Hays this morning. Both apologized and conceded that they made substantial pricing error. To be 100% fair, I want to point out that the $300 repair I had done would be equivalent to what Hays would consider a Rescue motor that they feel would be inadequate, but I want to make sure we are apples to apples with what I had done, and they would have been $700ish for the rescue motor, which is in line with what others quoted for an OEM Motor replacement. They also revised their estimate for the OEM motor install (That they feel is necessary and I don't disagree) to $950ish (Still substantially higher than others).
I do appreciate their followup very much and their handling of this has been very professional polite, and they offered to refund my service charge which I appreciate but wasn't expecting, so I'm updating my review from a 1 Star to a 2 Stars

SHAME ON YOU!!!! The AC died at our business today and what do I do.... I go you Yelp Call the highest rated company and scheduled a service call. Guy shows up early PERFECT Relief soon!
After 30min or so the tech come in and tells me The fan is dead and your unit will need an OEM fan because the Rescue fans we keep in our vans wont work with your unit. On top of that, the compressor overheated and we wont know if it will reset until it cools, so it could need more than just a fan.
I say okay, what are we looking at? He said Our Rescue fans run $700-$750 but since yours needs an OEM fan your probably over $1,000 shocked I ask for a quote so we can talk to our building owner and make a decision. He says sure, no problem. He goes to his van and come back a few minutes later and e-mails me an invoice for the $79 service call and a $1,250 Estimate to JUST swap the fan... If the compressor was bad then that would be a whole other thing. We happily paid him for the $79 service call and told him we will let him know what we want to do about the fan once we speak to the building owner.
After the Hays tech leaves, I call the building owner and she referred me to the guy that has worked on the unit in the past. I call him and let him know what Hays said and he choked at the $1250 and said I'll be out in a little bit, but I suspect I can replace it for you for $400-$500 Tops. He said if you can go up and get me the the fan motor HP Rating, RPM and Shaft size I can grab the correct motor on my way and get you up and running. He did agree that we are still hoping that the compressor survived but that's just the chance we have to take.
I'm a fabricator and a mechanic and a general smart guy so I climb up and get all the info off the motor including the Model and part number. I call the guy that the building owner referred me to give him the info and after getting off the phone I decide out of curiosity to google the Model & Part number...... and holy crap!

I can buy it all day long for under $88. I own an auto parts business and by no means am I expecting to pay internet price to have some one come and replace a fan, but lets be real here.... I would expect to pay $250'ish for the fan motor and $250 TOPS for 30min in labor it will take to swap that fan. This sort of predatory business practice is shameful. I have a call into them about this and before she told me she would have a manager call me she said We guarantee our work WOW that must be some guarantee.

I would agree with many other reviewers that this is the company you want to be dealing with. Our sales rep, Bill, actually called to see if he could come out early because he promised to be at our house at a different time and he wanted to see if that was ok. Certainly different from other companies. I quoted. He was quick and efficient and made sure that we had plenty of time to ask as many questions as we wanted. At no point during the initial sales process did we feel rushed or more importantly pressured. Bill's professionalism and outstanding reviews led us to select Hays to replace both our A/C units (despite the fact that they were not the cheapest company to quote).

We called Bill on Monday and the crew showed up on schedule 3 days later Our install team was led by Jack who displayed the same professionalism that Bill did and had a great sense of humor (promised to make sure that anyone who fell off the roof would be dragged into the street so it wouldn't impact my homeowners insurance. Pleased to note that no tech's were harmed in this install). The crew replaced both units and removed an old Swamp Cooler in less than 4 hours. I was home working and barely heard them. The team even took time to talk a little Mario talk with my 4 year old son. When Jack wrapped everything up he mentioned that they noticed that some of my vents were blocked so his team went and fixed them for us.

I was very apprehensive about making such a big purchase and switching out A/C units just prior to summer here in Arizona but Hays made the process painless and easy. I will be using them for all maintenance and service issues for anything HVAC or Water heater related for as long as I live in Arizona. This company truly believes that the customer is the priority and everyone we dealt with lived that belief. If you want great service and peace of mind, call Hays.

We called Hay's for an estimate on replacing our HVAC system.
The man (Michael) came on time and seemed nice.  He said he would give us three different quotes on three types of systems and would send them to our e-mail that night or the next day.
We keep checking our e-mail but nothing ever came in from Michael.
So after four days my husband called and spoke to the woman who answered the phone.  She was very nice and asked if we checked our spam, which we did, and then said she would speak to him and we should get the e-mail by the next day.
Again nothing, so we waited 2 more days and called again.  This time she seemed upset that we didn't get the quotes and said she would definitely talk to him and would call us back with the information.
We never heard from her or him, it's now a week later and for the first time in my life I'm writing a bad review, because I can't believe a company would do that to someone.
We got other quotes, very quickly, but I would have liked to have gotten one from Hay's because they were recommended by a friend.

My experience with Hays was almost Outstanding....the office staff keep me informed and Mark was personable, flexible and just a nice guy who knew what he was doing.  Even added some work from my original issue.  No,problem, gave me a price...and was done with both jobs in under two hours.   He also tolerated my annoying dog...sorry.
I will give the  the rating they deserve, not their problem that plumbing is SO FRIGGIN expensive.  They were competitive, but the people made the difference...THANKS

I had 2, twenty-one year old Trane units at my house that were still running fairly well.  Thought I was on borrowed time and decided to replace them.  Received three quotes from reputable firms in the valley and they all came in about the same price range.  The sales rep from Hays, Bill S., was very thorough in his presentation and fully explained the install processes.  He took the time to explain how the install would be considerable better than what I currently had and that an actual Follow-Up inspection would be performed several days later to confirm the install was correctly done and that I was totally satisfied with the operations of the units.

The installs were completed in one day as promised and everything was completely cleaned up and double checked.  I am amazed as to how much of a difference in the comfort level there is now and how much quieter they operate.  Difference between night and day.

The driving factor of our decision to go with Hays was the Yelp Reviews.  Hands down so much higher ratings than the competition.  Not a doubt in my mind that we made the right choice!

I have been calling around to get an idea of how much it would cost to remove our broken swamp cooler from our roof. I received a quote for $340 from a honest referral but wanted more options to make sure that was a good deal. I called Hays and they quoted me $800! Yes, that's right, $800. When I said that seemed high, they said we will do it for free if you buy an air conditioning unit from us. Really, how do you guys have 5 stars?

I have two AC units and have to get them checked annually to maintain a Trane manufacturer extended warranty.  I had been using a company called Bob Brown Service Experts, but I got tired of the no-call no-shows and poor customer service (See my 2-Star review of them on YELP as well.)  I decided to pick another company and selected Hays based upon the number of excellent reviews.

I called and scheduled an appointment.  A pleasant young woman took my info and said that I would be getting an email with picture of the tech the day of the service.  I never received the email, but did get a phone call about 45 minutes prior to arrival.  (4/8/16 Update: the email with technician picture was found in my junk mail.) Jerry was the tech.  I found him  to be pleasant and professional.  He took pride in his work and spoke highly of his company.  He went into the attic and checked the air handlers.  This took around 20 minutes per side.  Then he went outside and checked the ground units.  Freon and capacitors checked out to be fine.  Jerry had to use new screws to attach covers, as the previous screws were a little stripped.  Total time spent at my house was around 1.5-2 hours.  The cost $79 per unit.

Constructive criticism:  My previous company charged around $100-$120 to check both units and to me seemed to do a little more.  My previous company would blow out the condensate lines then pour water down the lines to ensure that they are open.  This company did not do that.  This company's website also says that a tune-up includes oiling the blower and outdoor fan motors.  I watched closely and did not see this done.  The site also says the indoor coils would be checked for buildup.  This also was not done.  I was never asked about my indoor filters or if I would like them to be changed.  The site says a 33 point inspection...I don't think so...maybe next time.  I should have asked up-front for what my $80 service per unit included.  I feel that the price is a little too high for what I received.  If I am going to spend that much, a company had better do what is says it will do.  It would also be nice to get a discount for a second unit as the tech is already on-site.  I asked the technician about a discount for a second unit, and he commented that the service fee was already discounted.  I knew the price going in so I did not make it an issue.

A second issue I had was the arrangement for payment.  The technician was required to manually punch in my credit card number into a tablet-type device, including my 3 digit security code.  In no way do I think Jerry would try to do anything illegal, such as stealing credit card information.  I have had other companies do service at my house and like it when the technician simply swipes my card, bills wirelessly, and never sees my full credit card number long enough to write it down.  Only the last four digits of my credit card appear on the receipt visible to the technician.  (4/8/16 Update:  I am watching my credit card statement, and still have not seen the transaction appear.  I do not like this.  The transaction supposedly took place a few days ago.  Why no record?  I'm feeling a little uncomfortable.4/8/16 Update:  I called to inquire and was informed that Jerry's machine/swiper was broken and that my credit card will be billed manually next week when Jerry comes into the office. Little awkward.  I guess I will be watching next week for the transaction.)

Over-all, I generously rated this company 4 out of 5 stars, as I saw definite room for improvement.  Based on the service and price, I guess I am a little hesitant about whether on not to use them next year for tune-ups.  My units were already in top-notch condition and needed no repairs.

My split unit air conditioner needed to be replaced. When I called my regular ac guy, I learned he had passed away. So started the hunt for someone new. I asked for recommendations. I got a number of them. I ended up going with Hays. Bill answered all my questions. Even ones I didn't know to ask. Price was comparable to the others. We scheduled the install. The guys were on time. Nice guys. Couldn't be happier with the results. The Yelp reviews were a big reason I went with Hays.

We spent a ton of money getting a completely new A/C/Heating System.  To thank us, they make us wait nearly 6 weeks for a Fall heating check up.  A company should never make good customers wait that long.  It tells me that they don't have enough workers to accommodate customer needs.  The gal on the other end wasn't too friendly and seemed like she couldn't care less.  Typical company - once they have your money, they don't care about you anymore.  We are very disappointed in them.

I live out of state and the AC in my Peoria rental home needed to have the indoor coil replaced (in the middle of a June heat wave, of course!) Hays was very accommodating & their staff was superb! The receptionists, Veronica & Tanya, were very pleasant & professional. The two techs we'd dealt with between the couple of visits that had to be made to my home were Jerry & Mike, both were quite knowledgeable and extremely courteous and professional over the phone. The only thing I could suggest is to give an itemized estimate for jobs. We had to spend $2800 on our AC & would have liked to know what we were spending it on. Being out of state, we had to put our trust in Hays so the job could be completed as soon as possible (we have a tenant who's pregnant) & didn't have time to collect alternative estimates.

It is clear that Hays has high service standards and engagement among their employees, definitely an under appreciated quality of small businesses.

75 out of 80 reviews for this company are five stars.  That's pretty amazing, so I'm about to make it 76 out of 81.

Mike was the name of the technician who came to my home to inspect my HVAC unit on the house I had just purchased.  He was the second HVAC guy out because the first guy quoted me an outrageous price to get standard maintenance up-to-date.  I was very happy with how thorough Mike was in his inspection.  He essentially found four things wrong:

1.  Coils needed to be cleaned (part of the visit)
2.  Fuses were the wrong size
3.  Condensation hose was unhooked (ended up it was also clogged)
4.  Thermostat was pretty old.

It should be noted that the previous HVAC guy who was out didn't even catch that the fuses were the wrong size and that the condensation hose was unhooked.  The previous HVAC guy tried to tell me that the unit was a 2002 unit, and I verified through Mike and through the guy who did my home inspection prior to me purchasing it that it was, indeed, a 2009 unit.

Now I don't think the thermostat needed to be replaced, but he offered to do all of the above for $383.  I agreed, and off to work he went.

I am a due diligence kind of guy, so while Mike was working, I did some research on what all of that actually cost.  First of all, I should note that regardless, I was going to pay $85 to have the semi-annual inspection done.  So here is an itemized breakdown:

1.  New fuses     $8      (Lowes)
2.  Thermostat:   $179  (Amazon)
3.  Tax:                $16
4.  Service visit:  $85
    Total              $288

The way I look at it, I essentially paid him a $95 labor fee to install a thermostat, and I'm completely okay with that.  It would probably take me 4-6 hours to do all of the above.  His total visit was about two hours.

As a side note, I think it's pretty awesome that I can change my thermostat on my phone from pretty much anywhere in the world.  

I should also note that Mike was pretty awesome.  He took the time to explain everything to me as well as he could.  I think that in his line of work, which is extremely technical in nature, one of the hardest parts is understanding pricing in such a way so that it can be explained fluently to customers, and he excelled at that.  He also pointed out a couple of other products that the folks at Hays stand behind without offering any pressure to make a purchase.  I'm pretty sure that Mike ended up getting off about 30 minutes after the time his shift was supposed to end, and he had a long drive through traffic to get home.  Those kinds of things annoy the crap out of me when I have to deal with them, but he shrugged them off with a just doing my job attitude.  I think Mike really likes what he does for a living, and I admire that.

I will also be calling Hays next fall to do my semi-annual inspection.  I highly recommend them.

I appreciate you questioning my character to make my review seem less credible. I would understand a miscommunication with a scheduler considering they often do not know what they are talking about. My issue, the main issue is the tech not only throwing her under the bus as not knowing her job, but also being shown photos that were obviously not my unit just to get the sale. The main point and reason for this being a bad review is the behavior your company apparently has decided is good business practices. I am well aware that I did not pay for services, if I had you would be dealing with a law suit instead of simply a bad review on yelp. Also, paying or not paying for a service does not make the experience any less valid, and a review is based upon experience.

Super fast and friendly service. Didn't try and sell me a bunch of extra stuff. Tech took time to thoroughly explain the issue and show me stuff about my house I didn't know. I didn't think service like this existed these days anymore, but it does here.

15 days later a/c issues came back. Rescheduling was no problem except they gave me a window of 12-2 one afternoon and called me at 1 saying they would be there at two. That sounds an awful lot like a 12-3 window. Had to reschedule for another day.

Dan from Hays Plumbing & Drain..I found them on Angies list. When I called to make the appointment they were very professional took my info ad within 24 hrs. Returned my call. When he came he looked at my problem , gave me a solution wanted to make sure I knew what the repair entailed.He gave a price with a guarantee, signed the paperwork..went to get the  parts.returned and completed the job. He was very professional,easy to talk to.cleaned up after himself . I would use him again.

The company did a great job. The process starts with a quote, and I think this process was fair. Instead of just recommending the highest cost unit, they listened to how we will use the unit, and recommended one that will be cheaper to run and eventually fix. Ultimately they weren't the cheapest prices, but it was reasonable for the work they did.

Then install day arrived and I think they did a great job and it was a quality installation. Chris the owner also visited to check how things were going.

One negative is that after the unit was installed, they just closed the door and turned it on to measure the temperature. They were never in the attic after it was powered, nor did they check the outside unit.  Yes eventually they will come back a few months later to check it more, but I would have preferred more operational checks before they left. I've had my share of AC companies that said it was all fixed and left, only to find out it really wasn't really fixed. Only time will tell if everything is working perfectly, and I have no indication it isn't. If things should turn out differently I will update my review. But to date, all looks good.

First rate service.  We woke up Sunday morning and discovered we had no hot water.  We called and within 40 minutes or so, Chas showed up and quickly diagnosed the problem.  He helped us weigh the choice between a repair vs a new water heater.  And he showed up early this morning to install the new water heater.  He was efficient, thorough and did an excellent job.  I think we'v found ourselves a new plumbing company if a problem arises in the future.

Called around yesterday trying to find someone short notice to analyze sewer pipes on an older home (1950's) we are purchasing in downtown Phoenix.  They had one of their professionals (Nick) call and explain the process.  He was able to to do the camera inspection the following day.  The house had three separate additions with 3 different types of sewer pipes.  He was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the pipe dating back to the 50's and what had been done over the years.  Super impressed with his report back and professionalism overall.

As a follow on to Stepheni M.'s review, I wish I could give Hays 6 stars.  From design, estimation, through installation, setup and finally follow-up, everyone and everything exceeded expectations.  We were treated beyond what they said in the video advertisement.  We replaced 2 almost 20 year old 10 SEER mixed parts (mostly Trane, some Payne) systems with 2, 16 SEER Trane systems and then had them blow in more attic insulation, put some transom vents for air return in rooms where the doors are almost always closed, and add a supply register in a room that needed one.  When I say replace, I mean replace; they also said our plenums were way undersized so they replaced those too and what they said they were so spot on.  These units blow so much more cool air all through out the whole house so much better - they don't short cycle like our old system did, which was leaving hot spots (and probably higher electric bills).  So it was much more than just replacing old with new, they made sure that our system as a whole was operating better.  I'm convinced now that while some companies may be able to install new A/C and furnace units, but can they make sure everything is working well together like Hays did, that to me is a huge differentiator.  We found Hays based completely on web reviews and am so glad we did.  BTW, our OCD dog AJ already misses the guys!!!!

The heat at my office wasn't coming on, and my employees and customers were cold!  When I first called Hays, they said they couldn't get out until the next afternoon so I was going to check around to see if I could get someone out sooner.  Hays called back a few minutes later to say a cancellation had opened up a time that same afternoon.  It turns out they still weren't able to make it that afternoon, but Mike was at my office promptly at 7:00 the next morning.  He was police and professional.  He quickly diagnosed the problem and clearly outlined my options.  I was pleased with the service and will definitely call Hays again if I have any heating or air conditioning issues, either at my office or at my home.

If I could give 10 stars to Hays Plumbing I would! On an early Sunday morning, my water heater had sprung a leak. After calls to 3 other Plumbing Companies that listed 24/7 emergency services & no response, I found Hays Plumbing with high approval ratings listed on my community NextDoor app. On the first call, I was directed to a live person who took down my information & sent a representative out in 40. Chas was the service technician & I couldn't have asked for better service............he was personable, professional, knowledgeable, took the time to explain the problem & the solution & future options. A new water heater had to be installed. Although the price was a little more than I expected, I couldn't beat the prompt, excellent customer service. I hope everyone sees this review.  I just moved to Arizona from Georgia, not knowing anyone.  The AC unit on the condo I purchased died a few weeks after I arrived.  I wasn't in a position to purchase a new unit, but with 106 degree temps I had to figure something out.  Not knowing who to call, I simply responded to an add on the radio and hoped for the best.  Hays immediately came out and did the best they could to keep my current unit running to help me have a little time to figure out what to do, then once it would no longer run they connected me with Jack Zwiers.  He immediately came to the rescue, did I mention it was July 4th, when every other company refused to work?  He was knowledgeable, professional, and was able to answer all of my questions.  Hays offers great financing and made it where I could get my new unit installed immediately. Their prices are competitive and the service you receive is outstanding.  My home has been wonderfully cool and just when I thought everything was done I receive a call from Hays scheduling a quality check. Even though everything is running good, they still come out afterwards and make certain everything is running properly.  I'm definitely one that believes if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't, but please believe me when I tell you Hays Cooling is legit.  I'm already recommending coworkers at my new job to them.

5 STAR SERVICE is what you get with HAYS COOLING
Had tech Charlie out, I needed a new unit due to the hail damage, their install team of Chuck & Kenny were the fastest install team I have seen and unit is up working keeping it 75* in the house while it gets 100 * outside. Everyone there was great I will make Hays Cooling & Heating our go to guys!!!!!!!

There seem to be some pretty scathing reviews on this company but my experience was excellent.  Brandon explained the condition of my system and said there were a couple of parts that should be replaced in the next couple of years.  No pressure to sell me more parts or service.  He spend quite a bit of time with me on the phone.  This guy seems like someone you can really trust to give you good advice.  Not wanting a breakdown in the middle of a heat wave, I opted to replace the parts now.  Brandon was great!  I did not have any scheduling problems and will be using this company again.

Just the facts:
After reading this, also look at the PS that resulted from the owner's attention.  I was out of town and received a call that a heater in a rent house was not working.  Called Hays--first time I used them.  They told me that a service call was $70 plus repairs and that the technician would call to authorize repairs.  When the call did not come I called the tenant.  The technician had come and gone--discovered it was only the gas valve in the off position--turned it on, furnace was working, and left.  Got a call from Hays asking for $160.  According to the technician, the extra $90 was for the safety check.  I mailed a check so they have no cause for complaint.  
This does not square with all the previous glowing reviews.
Does this deserve one star?  Yes--they should have been more up front about the charges.

PS.  The owner called and admitted a mistake in the charges.  It has to do with what the technician writes down and this technician was new to the company.  A refund is being processed.  Will raise the rating another notch when received.  I will try them again and then Hays may deserve a 5 star rating.
PSS: Received a refund of $90.

AC unit went out on a Saturday night and very uncomforable in the house.  Not much sleep last night.   Called the company that installed the unit twice and left messages and no call back.  I even checked the old company out on yelp and got glowing reviews which I now thing were overrated.

So then I got online and checked out some others along with their BBB rating and chose Hays.  Service tech was there in less than a hour and had it repaired and operational within 30 minutes after arriving.  Prices were reasonable and now I have a AC / plumbing contractor that I can rely on.

I will gladly use them again in the future.

We love Hays! Nick Pratt was just here to service our tankless hot water heater. He was very professional, very knowledgeable, very pleasant to deal with and was able to take care of the issues we were having. The entire office staff is professional and pleasant to work with! The window of time they give you isn't half a day so you aren't stuck waiting, they call when they're on the way or if they're running a little late (which rarely happens). I wouldn't call anyone else for our heating, A/C and plumbing needs!

I am happy to say I had a very good experience with Hay's. One of my units wasn't blowing cold, so I called around a few of the higher rated places on yelp. I made the mistake of going with someone last year who wasn't on yelp, and I totally regretted it--the guy totally reamed me. Hay's was different-honest about their pricing and went above and beyond, even fixing a leak in one of my units the guy last year said he couldn't fix without being there while it was leaking (WTH?). So they fixed my unit, fixed the leak, tuned them both up, and because I signed up for their service plan, waived the trip fee. It's hard for me to know what is fair pricing as I don't have a lot of experience with HVAC repairs, but I feel like a I got a fair deal for all that they did while they were here.

Part 2...Hays Cooling & Heating came out after I booted out the first company I called (search my name for my part 1 review). Mike came out and quickly realized that the ONLY thing that was needed to be changed was the capacitor. THE CAPACITOR, that's it. Oh and he also realized that some wires were fused together (fixed) when the capacitor burned out. I was so impressed with Mike's honesty that I signed up for their maintenance contract for 1yr on the spot. Even Mike said that he joined Hays because they are above board and do not expect the techs to sell but to fix (what a great concept)! Hays, you have a customer for life and with my big mouth, I will be extolling your virtues for many years to come. Thank you for cooling us off!!!

Very professional and quick. I called first thing in the morning and was able to get an appointment that day. Also they were an hour earlier then originally planned but called to make sure it was okay first. Which was awesome when your ac unit is not working in the summer in Phoenix the earlier the better. And our technician was great! Frank was polite and got the job done fast. He was excellent at explaining to me what the problem was and gave me a few options for repairs. He went above and beyond getting our two units working perfectly and the expensive was less then expected. I also found it very useful that he gave me some tips on monthly maintenance I can be doing to keep my units running more efficiently. Being a first time home owner I really appreciated this. I will be using Hays for any of my future ac/heater needs.

Just as the Valley began to hit triple digits this year my a/c unit died. Called Hayes and talked to John around 3:30pm on a Saturday. He had Frank come over within the hour to check our a/c as it was blowing hot air upstairs. Turns out the capacitor were bad on both of our units. Frank was very professional and was able to explain what needed to be done. I would recommend Hayes to anyone who needs a/c work done. I was really satisfied and can't say enough about Frank.

Our A/C unit started squealing last night.  After reading a few reviews last night I called Hays.  Even though they don't open until 7:00 AM, I called at 6:45 hoping someone could help ASAP; especially since they temp had climbed from 76 to 84.  They answered & were very courteous  .  They took my info and had a scheduler call me back.  They were able to fit me in for a 5-7 PM time slot which was better than any of the other companies I checked that were at least 2-3 days out.  I was pleasantly surprised when they called back at 2:20 & said they could have someone here in 45 min.  Jerry S. came right away; found the problem & replaced the capacitor. While I was on the phone with my husband explaining the problem and the cost Jerry also checked our other unit & for that capacitor was about to go out as well.  If our units weren't 13 years old we would have signed up for the warranty program; however, it just didn't make sense for us since we'll have to replace the systems soon and any other parts will be much more expensive.  Rather than me trying to explain the costs or components Jerry spoke directly to my husband making everything clear.  He even e-mail my husband the estimate for the parts and trip charge for today and the estimate if we were to sign up for the warranty program.  Jerry was very honest and professional; he definitely went above and beyond and we truly appreciate his service.  I will be sure to recommend Hays Cooling & Heating to everyone we know in need of help with HVAC.  For the 1st point of contact to the end Hays was professional, polite, honest and all at a very reasonable price.

Hays did a great job taking care of our A/C and heating problems.  Thank you to Frank and Thad for being professional and courteous.  The reason I'm not going with 5 stars is that I did have a little difficulty reaching someone after the initial fix had a problem that night night.    However, I did hear from the technician the next morning and he came back to work on the issue.

On time, knowledgeable, and good communication make these guys the best I've seen. They take the time to explain the situation face to face in layman's terms and make recommendations. Unlike the other guys who mumble technical jargon while they're on the run and hand me a big bill. Hayes techs are invested in the work and seem happy to help. They also have expertise, and even corrected some issues created by previous companies.

Our 14 year old air conditioner gasped its last breath of hot air with low freon a little over a week ago. Our first thought was to get the company we had come out once before several years to see if more freon was needed. It was not Hays, but a well known company with their amusing commercials. To be fair, they did send someone out and after examining the unit outside and in the attic, he said it pretty much on its last legs,. Suggested we have a sales rep come out the next day and I said well what do I do till then? Three dogs and one of the highest temps this summer in Phoenix, our hour was not over 95 degrees with nowhere to go. He offered a temporary fix a with five pounds of coolant but warned it would most likely be gone in a week or less with the holes our coils had. With little choice in the matter and becoming very ill from the heat, I said go ahead. The cost approximately 700.00.

A day later we had a sales rep come out and gave us an estimate. He was nice but my dad always told me to get a second estimate when confronted with something as expensive as this. I went online and search help about found one company with five stars from every reviewer! That is unheard of! Then I went on better business bureau, and three other review sites. Every single one of them had no bad marks against Hays air conditioning and people seemed pretty happy with the results.

Made a call and a technician from Hays named Mike came out and looked at our unit.he said basically the same thing as the other company but had pictures from his smartphone he took up in the attic to help us see exactly what was going on. This young man was very respectful of our home and I could tell he knew his business well. He told us the five pounds of coolant had already went down to three and the hole we had on the coils was pretty huge to leak that quickly.

We decided to call for an appointment for a someone to come to see what his estimate would be. and within the next day a sales rep name Jim came out and talked to us after he examined the unit. First thing he asked was what kind of units were we looking for and we were thinking of a two stage type which was recommended by the first company who came out. He explained to us how a variable units compared with a two stage and well as a simple one state unit. So many brands to choose from, so many variables in units...it was quite overwhelming. Jim was very nice, professional and not at all pushy. He left us with some information on the units we were thinking of and said to give him a call when we decided. Three agonizing days later after doing research on brands, energy savings and of course the outstanding reviews we read of Hays reputations and standing behind their work, we decided
To go with Hays. One of the great things I found was how well these employees talk about their boss and owner or the company. I've already believed a happy employee creates a happy customer

Within two days they had our new Trane air conditioner installed. They said our old one had just run out of coolant as they dismantled it., it took them approximately eight hours to get everything up and running. Not even sure they took a lunch break! They were very efficient, polite and knowledgable. There names are Rich, Reg or Rey, and Robert. I cannot say enough good thing about this company and their team. I would highly recommend them  because they are honest and stand behind their products and service. And now that we had our first 116 degree day, we are so grateful we found them just in time. If only all contractors could be like Hays...  *sigh*

My HVAC system, while I'm sure worked fabulously when it was installed in my home in 1992, had slowly become my little housing nightmare.  Like clockwork, it would crap out on Christmas Day, or July 4.  After spending too much money band-aiding it over a few years, it was time to replace the system.

I had Hays provide a quote, along with 2 other contractors.  I ended up selecting Hays, and besides going back to my natural hair color, it's been one of the best decisions of my life.

I was given a firm date and time for my install, and sure enough, the crew showed up on time, ready to work.  It was incredibly well orchestrated.  It's not like they arrived in waves, and stood around on the driveway, waiting for direction.  Every person who showed up knew exactly what to do, and set to work doing just that.  It was quite something to watch, actually.

8 hours later, I had a brand new HVAC system.  And, they even cleaned the floors.  lol

The owner, Chris, came towards the end of the install, and I thought that was a really nice touch.  How many owners actually bother to check on installs anymore?  I had my pool redone, and never saw anyone above the project manager.  So, it meant a lot.

Since the install was completed, I received a few initial follow-up calls from Hays to make sure everything was working fine, and I was happy.  The sales person came a week later to take heating/cooling measurements, to make sure the system was calibrated properly (!).  Better yet, since it's been about a year since the install, the girls in the office actually call me to set up my scheduled service appointments.  I don't remember these things, and if you miss your appointments, it voids your warranty, so I love that the employees stay on top of this for me.

The system itself works perfectly (nothing stops a Trane!  lol), and my bills are 25-30% less per month than what I paid with my old, tired system.  

I couldn't be happier with the experience with Hays, and I have such peace of mind knowing I can rely on them in the future.

Are you looking for a reputable, honest AC company?  Look no further than Hays.  Excellent service, honest technicians and an owner who cares about his customers.  

When we realized it was time to replace our unit we got 4 quotes.  Hays quote was competitive and their labor and parts backed up by a warranty.  Chris (the owner) took his time measuring our home and answering our many questions.  Install was quick, painless and on time.  Not only did Chris follow up, but we received a thank you card a few days later.

I've recommended Hays to many friends and family without hesitation.  More companies should conduct business like Hays does.

My boyfriend and I called Hays for an estimate on a new 18 & 20 seer Trane. They sent out Jim and wow we could not have got any luckier with a guy who was personable and very thorough. Jim took the time to check everything in my house from the attic to the condenser outside, he was the first person from any company I've had to be thorough and not just throw numbers at me with a pen and piece of paper saying if I don't sign now I'll pay more later. Jim is awesome I learned a lot about how a system works today we are very impressed with him and it reflects well on Hays. Not to mention Hays offered more on the install by replacing everything not just the air handler and condenser but the pad the disconnect box and all new sheet metal and quoted me the most reasonable price. Thanks Jim for your knowledge and taking the time to make sure I understood every aspect of the replacement!!! I look forward to doing business with Jim and Hays!

I usually don't write reviews on Yelp, but I was so unhappy with the customer service. We were told that someone would come between 11am-1pm to fix our AC unit. My sister had to go to work at 12, so I stayed home to wait for someone over. Then at 9:26, I get a call saying that they were running late and that they were going to come around noon. Then at 2, she calls and says that he was running late and that he was going to get food before coming over. He doesn't get here until 3:13. I have to leave the house by 3:30 to get to work. This whole time I'm waiting in a 93 degree house. I then called my sister who spoke to someone over the phone about the situation because I had to leave in 15 minutes. The woman whom we both spoke on the phone with was completely rude to the both of us. We both felt that she gave us attitude when we did nothing wrong; it was their fault. She told us that we weren't the only ones with a broken AC and they were trying to get to everyone. I do not understand how someone can be so late to an appointment; their company specializes in this type of work. If they knew the technician coming to our house was running late, they should have sent someone else within the time frame they have given us. I then I had to leave for work and the technician said that he could work on the AC unit without me their and I could lock up the house and leave. I did not want to risk coming home after work to a hot house, so my sister had to leave work and come home and make sure everything was fixed okay.

The technician fixed our AC unit and now it works fine. But the customer service was completely awful. Since we rent the home we live in, our landlord was the one who called the company and set everything up. If something were to go wrong with our house again, I would ask our landlord to use different company. I do not want to deal with this again.

As a manager of a window and door company, I have been in the sales and customer service business for most of my work life. When I was in need of a new AC, after my 20 year old unit finally failed. I proceeded to get estimates from a few different companies. This gave me an experience being on the consumer side rather than the business side of things. I let all the visiting  AC company representatives know that I was in sales, and that I only plan on living in the home for a couple of years, and that I needed a good AC at a reasonable price and didn't need anything fancy just the bare minimum.  This pretty much fell on deaf ears. They have a saying Never sale a salesman every up sale and pitch you could ever hear of from most of the appointments. Until Bill from Hays cooling and heating came through my door. Very punctual, professional, listened to my needs. Very soft approach.  Ultimately didn't try to sell me. Was very reasonably priced and was so impressed with the experience I moved forward with the purchase right away. They were very quick on installing the new AC a few days later just in time for the 115 degree weather. Workman where clean courteous and professional. Very pleased with the whole experience.  The Icing on the cake was a few weeks later my small rental property I owned unfortunately the AC  failed also, I didn't hesitate to call Hays again. It was nice to see Bill again, and as before listened to my needs and Hays hit a second home run with me. I highly recommend Hays cooling and heating,  and will not hesitate to refer to friends or family , and or call them for all my future AC needs. Very highly recommended.

We had a problem with the a/c and a technician by the name of Frank came out. He quickly diagnosed the problem, explained everything, and gave us a couple of different options to fix it. He did a good job and I thought the price was fair. Just an FYI that there is a $79 trip charge. But I thought it was well worth it and would pay it again based on our experience.

I called Hays this morning to try to get an estimate for how much it would cost to replace the two thermostats we have in our house.  We had used Hays in the past to repair our air conditioner and had been satisfied with their work.  The gentleman told me on the phone that it would be a $79.95 charge for them to come to our house to give us an estimate on replacing our thermostats.  I asked if the $79.95 charge could be waived; he said no.  I asked if we ended up going ahead with the replacement if the $79.95 charge could be credited towards the replacement costs; he said no.  I relayed the information to my husband and he decided to call them to see if the almost $80 trip charge to provide us with an estimate could be waived since we have a history with the company.  Not sure who he talked to, but whoever it was agreed to waive the charge for him.  A few minutes later he gets a call back from someone at Hays telling him that the person he talked to earlier was new, and that they were not willing to waive the charge.  Heading in the wrong direction Hays.  First, not being willing to waive the $80 fee to come to our house to give us just an estimate, after being loyal customers, seems like bad customer service and in poor taste.  But then to actually call us back to tell us that you're taking back your offer to waive the fee after saying you were willing to do so is just something else entirely.  You've lost this loyal customer and any future referrals.

I would definitely recommend Hays to someone with heating or cooling issues.  Mike came out right away and fixed the a/c unit and explained exactly what the problem was.  We are in a condominium unit where the units are not easy to get to.  Mike had a 32 foot ladder which he used to climb up on the roof and take care of things.  We will certainly recommend Hays Cooling & Heating to our friends!

Now here is a company that truly cares about there customers. Had to call about the initial visit from Hays because I was not fully explained the charges prior to the work. John was wonderful and sent Mike out to double check the previous work done. He was prompt, listened to my concerns and diagnosed my ac unit. He  fully explained to me the condition of the AC unit that I was having problems with and offered a credit on the previous work for my inconvenience. I will absolutely use Hays again and refer them to anyone needed there service. I will personally ask for Mike when I decide to upgrade my units next year. Thank you John and Mike for your attention and detail to customer service!

I must say that I am impressed with the owner of this company.  After my post yesterday, he called me and left me a message to call him.  I was very busy yesterday, however, even if I wasn't, I still would not have called him back because I didn't want anything  (I told him this as well).  I wasn't looking for financial compensation or anything, I was just frustrated with the circumstances and wanted others to know to be careful.   We own three businesses ourselves and understand mistakes happen, however, as per my previous posting, I was not happy with the way everyone but Steve had handled the situation.  Today, July 22, Steve and Chris (the owner) came by my store first thing.  I was shocked, but completely impressed.  The owner wanted to make things right.  He apologized profusely and told me the changes they were going to implement to ensure these issues don't happen in the future and offered a complementary 2 year service plan for the troubles I had.  As mentioned, I was not looking for any compensation, and I told him that it wasn't necessary, but he insisted.  I was very happy to see a business owner take ownership of the mistakes.  He could have just left things as they were, but actually coming to see me in person showed me just how much he cares about his business.  So many people who own businesses loose sight of these things and Chris has not.  Handling staff can be a headache, especially during busy times, however, it's what the company does to resolve issues I believe that sets them apart, and Chris has now set his business apart for me and I will refer many people to their company because of Steve and Chris.  Thank-you again Chris and Steve, I am very impressed with the way you have handled things for me.
