Best Plumbing Inspection in Chesapeake VA

I called yesterday based on recommendations from the Nextdoor app that they were able to come out quicker than other companies and I needed someone to come out sooner rather than later. I had the bathroom floor replaced and when the company went to put the toilet back, determined that the valves attached to it were old and should be replaced (and we decided to get the ones on our pedestal sink replaced also since they were likely old as well) and it needed to be done by a professional plumbing company. I called and was quoted $163 plus parts by the woman on the phone. I told her I would call her back after I spoke to my husband. I was told to ask her if that included putting the toilet and sink back once the valves were replaced when I called back, which I did and she said yes. I asked how they know what valves to get and she said he would come by, look at them, go to the store and get the parts and come back to do the work. What I was clearly not told was that the cost was actually $163 per hour and that includes his time to and from the store plus a $28 service charge which was not mentioned at all. I appreciate that they were able to come the next day (although I was also told 8:30-9am they would arrive and they were here at 10:30am), but I do not appreciate being scammed over the phone to get my service by not disclosing their price is per hour and that's going to include however many times the plumber goes to and from the store because he needs extra parts - I had all the parts that had been on the sink for years and were working, but he determined that one of my extension pieces was too short and he needed a longer one - so I paid the extra time for that trip as well. I did ask for extra work while he was here - one of my other toilets wasn't flushing properly - I asked him if he had time and if it was an easy fix, if he could do it. We talked about price and he said it would be about 15-20 minutes extra plus parts and quoted me roughly $80-$90 extra. Now once I got the bill that was $250 more than I was expecting and I asked him how and he told me it's $163 per hour, I told him that is not what I was told over the phone. He proceeded to tell me that the receptionist had done that before. So I called the company and a man answered (I'm assuming the owner). I explained the situation and he said the woman was on speaker phone so her heard her tell me $163. Then later, after some arguing about how long the plumbers were here (because they had to go to and from the store twice) when I said I don't appreciate being scammed to get my service, he changed his story to say he heard her say $138/hr plus a $28 service charge. So now the price has changed and the service charge has been added. He then asked me if I thought they should work for free. Of course not, however, and what I told him in my response is that I expect to get an honest quote when I call. As I was explaining how they should make sure their receptionist is quoting the correct price to customers because that is a huge difference, he hung up on me. Had the owner not yelled at me and changed his story over the phone and then proceed to hang up on me, this could have been handled appropriately, but he did both of those things and no one else should have to deal with being overcharged or that type of horrible customer service.

Jason arrived at my house on a Saturday morning after my hot water heater sprang a leak and quit working the evening before.  He was prompt, courteous, and his prices can't be beat!  He quickly assessed the situation and quoted me a price BELOW what I expected.  In addition to replacing my water heater, he also replaced 5 valves - several of which had frozen in the open position.  The whole project was completed in no time and the results look and operate better than when the system was new.
Later that week, Jason returned to replace the pump for my heating system.  When my part arrived, it was Friday night.  I told Jason we would be fine until the following week, as we had several space heaters.   Worried about the falling temperatures and chance of snow, Jason took time away from his own family to make sure that mine was taken care of.  He replaced the pump in less than an hour, and again charged very little - despite the fact that it was a weekend call.  Now my heating and hot water systems work better than they ever have!
I highly recommend Jason to anyone who needs heating/hot water services.  I doubt there is a company out there that could beat his prices and quality of work - and no one could be more courteous!

This company is excellent! A couple of years ago, they were involved with a major renovation on our house and did a wonderful job (a BIG thanks, Greg)! So we called them again to service our AC unit and a plumbing issue in our bathroom. They sent Tyler, who was wonderful! He took care of both issues efficiently and professionally! He was very proficient at his job and very friendly and tolerant of hovering homeowners! We highly recommend them to anyone needing plumbing or HVAC work and will definitely use them again!

Fast, courteous, efficient and fair prices. I've used Nevie and his guys five or six times over the past eight years for various problems. Never had a call back and never had a problem after the work had been completed.

We used Heads Up for a number of years at our Virginia Beach home - moved away for a few years then returned to Hampton Roads - and we're using Heads Up again because they are great to work with - friendly, professional, knowledgeable. Highly recommend them for your irrigation system needs!

If I could I would definitely do a half star rating, all of the workers are rude and don't complete a job

I am so happy that I have switched to R L Sykes as my plumber.  My previous plumber (company shall remain nameless) could not find the reason why my Air Handler was leaking.  R L Sykes' plumber extraordinaire, Ed, found the leak within 5 minutes...a cracked drip pan. Same story with a small, natural gas leak at my boiler...exhaust pipe had a small hole...again, Ed found the cause within minutes.  Ed knows what he is doing and has a great attitude going about his business...he is extremely friendly and courteous.  We elected to switch to a tankless water heater and Ed did a very thorough and clean job...it looks and works wonderful.  Ed is an employee of this family-owned and run business.  Richard (the owner) is extremely knowledgeable as he has been doing this for over 40 years.  He is always available, helpful, and will go out of his way to make the customer happy.  I highly recommend this plumbing business for all your plumbing, heat and air needs.  And, no, I am not a family member or an employee of this company...I am retired Navy!

I called Just Plumbing from a recommendation.  They were at my house in less than an hour, fixed two portions of the problem immediately so everything was functioning again.  They called for utility markings because it appeared digging up a line in the yard would be necessary to complete repairs.  Upon prompt return and further evaluation, they advised that additional work was not needed.  I was very impressed with the efficiency and honesty of on site plumbers and the owner of the company.  The price was reasonable and they did all that was necessary, but did not over sell the job.  I will always give them an excellent rating.

They arrive promptly and on time young feller drove up very very carefully in his truck because it was wet and they performed pretty well with services for good price I'd recommend them for your plumbing needs

After walking around Home Depot without any help, we tried this location. Service was immediate and the salesperson was extremely knowledgeable. Recommended as a one stop shop.

Called A-1 to handle a burst pipe in a rental home I own - I live out if state.  

There was poor communication on when they would arrive.  When I heard the plumber I'd on his way, what they meant was, the plumber will get to you some time later today.

After the plumber arrived he gave a reasonable estimate for labor and material and I authorized the work.  After competing the project, the plumber called back and said that his material cost was more than 3 times the HIGH end of his estimate.  

Since it was a Sunday, I asked for someone from management to call me...8 days later and still nothing.

We have an update on our review we posted 12/14/2014. We are not sure if this is result of our name being selected for a refund but the General Manager for Roto Rooter contacted us to say they are going to refund us 75.00. We think this is for the visit Saturday and not the visit in October but we were impressed and pleased that these reviews are read and we told him we would update and promised all of you that we would let you know if we were selected for the up to 500.00 refund for writing a review. The manager said we would receive this refund after they close out on Wednesday and asked that we did update this post and they will send the check so we will await the check and happy they took the time to call and rectify.

My toilets/shower were completely clogged and needed to have my septic tank emptied and have my lines cleared ASAP. Called and they were able to come out same day  Jacob and Stephen were extremely polite and explained everything they were doing and did not mind me asking questions. Would highly recommend them and will be using their plumbing services soon!!

Can not comment on quality of work considering it is now 3:20pm and we have not seen the plumber that was scheduled to come at 9:30am. Several calls have been made and we were told of course, the job took longer than expected. No consideration that people have to take off work. Will they reimburse for a days wages. If they were held accountable they would not yank people's chains the way they do.
Finally came at 3:30 and did not have the proper equipment to do the job.

Rusty was sent out by my home warranty company, American Home Shield. He arrived on time, wore a mask, was cordial, professional, fixed 3 toilets that needed fixing, did not try to sell any other products. When I asked him about new products, he gave recommendations.
No bill. I will be glad to use Patriot Plumbing again!!
