Best Electrical Services in Portland OR
My wife and I never imagined we would have anything positive to say about our 20 year old furnace suddenly going out on us in the middle of a major cold snap. At first, we were completely stressed out about it. I tried to fix it myself, and quickly realized I was out of my depth and needed to call a professional. We contacted a few companies to get quotes, and were disappointed with the used car salesman type pitches we received, as well as the lack of responsiveness from some of the companies we called.
Then we found Sky Heating and Cooling, and all of that changed. Before calling Sky, we decided to research the products they use and pull consumer reports to get a sense of the quality. Sky is certified to install Trane products, which consistently receive some of the highest marks by consumer reports for quality and reliability.
When I called Sky, the first person I spoke with was Cate, and I was immediately struck by her professionalism and the customer service she provided. Cate scheduled a consultation for us, and gathered important information ahead of the appointment which helped expedite the process.
Ryan, our system designer, arrived on time to the appointment. Ryan was professional, respectful, and friendly throughout the appointment. My wife and I noticed an obvious difference between Ryan and the other system designers who we previously consulted; at no point did we feel like Ryan was pressuring us to buy anything. He was sensitive to our concerns about balancing cost and quality, and provided 3 solid options that represented a range of functionality and cost. He answered all of our questions, and helped us make an informed decision. As a result, we choose the furnace that best suits our needs; Trane, 2 stage with 80/20 efficiency, variable speed fan motor, and a robust 4 inch Honeywell filter. We also elected to have our vents cleaned.
Once we made our selection, we spoke with Kelly who pulled the necessary permits and scheduled both the vent cleaning and the installation. Impressively, Kelly was able to get us on the books for the vent cleaning the next day, and the installation the day after that. We really appreciated the sense of urgency with which Kelly responded to our needs, especially because at the time this was happening it was incredibly cold outside and we were relying on space heaters and a wood fireplace to keep our 2000 square foot home warm.
Joe was the person who cleaned our ducts, and he arrived on time and was quick and efficient. The work he completed has made a substantial impact on the quality of our lives by reducing the particulates that were previously causing sinus issues for me.
Earl installed our new furnace, and he also arrived on time to the appointment. He is clearly a professional in his field, because the install looks fantastic and passed inspection no problem. He was also very quick, at least in comparison to what a lay person might expect. One thing we asked Ryan to pass along to the installers is that my wife works from home, and the install needed to disrupt her work day as little as possible. Earl was respectful of this request, and as we expected per Ryan he only asked her to come down when it was time to walk her through how to use the thermostat and change the filter.
Finally, Ryan came to our house after the successful inspection to make sure we were happy. We let him know we are very happy, and feel strongly that we made the right choice not only in the furnace that we selected, but also in the company we choose to install it.
We would absolutely recommend Sky Heating and Cooling to anyone who is in need of their services. They treated us very well, did an outstanding job, and made sure we were happy even after the deal closed.

I'll spare you most of the gross details, but my house had a hole in the sewer line that was causing backups. Best we could tell, the hole was directly under the basement exterior wall making it a pretty big project (and, likely, bill).
I had 3 Mountains Plumbing and another business come out to take a look and give me a bid for the repair work.
Because the hole seemed to be directly under the wall, they both suggested digging from both sides - interior and exterior, in order to replace enough pipe to make sure that the hole was fully repaired. I was told it's about $1000 per foot to hand dig a hole from ground level down to below basement level where the pipe is. We were looking at around 5-7 feet of digging, right next to the gas and water utility lines. Great.
While both bids came out to be about equal, I moved forward with 3 Mountains Plumbing. They seemed prepared to do the hard work and were able to work with me on cost a little bit. They also offer a 3-year warranty if anything were to go wrong with this again, they'll come out to see what's going on.
They got me on the schedule quickly and the work was completed in one day - yes, that includes digging a 6 foot hole by hand. They didn't mind me popping by to gawk at the giant hole in my yard. They also brought a TON of trucks, it was funny to see the street covered in orange vans. They left everything tidy and they let me know I may need more dirt for the exterior as the dirt they re-filled it with settles. Their concrete partner came out about a week later to patch the interior.
Overall, communication was thorough, work was done swiftly, and I believe it was done with quality as well. The bill was tough to stomach but I don't believe it was out of line from industry standards.

Rep was very professional but not the person we were told would be coming for estimate. We were quick to see that there was not much interest in our small projects and admitted that Green Box was expensive. Rep suggested we use another web site to find an electrician and said many electricians did not want to work for homeowners and preferred to be subcontractors. Well, I think it was obvious on our initial phone call who we were and what we wanted. Late this evening and still no bid but a good sense of the waste of time it was to have Green Box come for an estimate!

Had my furnace diagnosed efficiently and effectively by Josh and Steve. Not only were they on time, they were early. They answered all questions without talking above/below my head. They were very polite and professional.
I have an older furnace and they quickly tracked down a replacement circuit board for it and had it installed in short order. Not only did they complete the task needed, but identified a couple of areas where efficiency could be improved by sealing with tape...and they then took care of that too.

Tim Moffatt was fantastic. I have some wooden floor boards that are starting to warp. I've already had a handyman come out a few times and they couldn't find anything. Tim initially quoted me several hundred dollars for 2 hours work. He called me and came early because he had time. He promptly checked every possible source with infrared and some other equipment. Found no active leak and did it quickly so didn't charge me.
If you have any questions about possible leaks around the house, I would definitely call Tim.

Sorry I cannot recommend Wolcott for any of their services. We had them re-plumb our kitchen because of a leak that destroyed our kitchen. Four days before completion Wolcott came and connected everything up. During the night one of their connections came loose and flooded the house again, only worse this time, so we're starting over again. They also installed new under cabinet lights and all the screws came through the bottom shelves about an eight of an inch. Their work is very unprofessional and they should be avoided.

All of the other reviews are accurate: diagnostic is just a hard upsell and they ended up charging me $1900 for a $500 toilet. Stay far away!

They did a great job cementing a new mailbox and post for me. They arrived on time and finished the work in a timely manner. We had good communication ahead of time so there were no issues of misunderstanding each other. I felt the price was a little high but will probably use them again for jobs in the future.
