Quick to set up an appointment.   Nick did a fantastic job replacing a shower drain that was leaking into (and eventually through) the ceiling of the floor below it.   He worked efficiently and effectively -- all done in about an hour including having to cut through a some of the metal that was frozen together.

Our toilet was being cranky and frequently refusing to flush properly.  Doug and Chris came out today and fixed the problem quickly and completely.  It's clear they know what they're doing, and their charge was very reasonable.  From now on, they'll be our go-to when we need a plumber.

We've been using Doug and crew for 3 years now and can't say enough great things. They are punctual, communicative, on budget, and get the job done right every time. Incredibly nice people who really care about their customers. Last year we did a bathroom remodel and used a plumber that our contractor recommended instead of 1st Call. Huge mistake. I ended up having to bring 1st Call in to fix all of the finish plumbing so that we could pass inspection. Even though it was last minute, they came in quickly and got the job done right. I won't be using anyone else from here on out!

These guys really are a Five-Star company.   I've had them out to do work at my business three times and they have to fix all the crap the company before them did.  They are courteous, ATTENTIVE and after the trouble shooting, fix the issue quickly so we can get back to business.   These guys are awesome!!!

I have been a renter for 33 years, never needed my own plumber!  Now I am a homeowner and my new house needed some attention (well, that's what the home inspector said- long story) I had to find someone I could trust.
 In walks Doug of 1st Call.  He responded to my e-mail in mere minutes and was able to come by at a time convenient for me.  Turns out I may not need his services for a little while anyway, but he was everything you would want in a plumber- knowledgeable, honest and a REALLY nice guy too!
 I would recommend 1st Call to anyone.  I now have a plumber and Doug is the man!

Was having issues with a toilet and as usual went immediately to YELP for some names to call. We haven't had to work with any plumbers over the last two years since our move to Portland. Of course, there were alot to choose from but we chose 1st Call Plumbing based on the reviews. From the get-go it was a great experience. From the initial call with Lanie to Nick coming out and fixing the issue - it was professional and courteous all the way. I described the situation over the phone to Lanie and she was very helpful and courteous, and scheduled us for a next day appointment. Nick arrived and immediately told us what the issue was. In less than an hour the toilet was working just fine again. And we came in under budget. Nick even asked if there was anything else he could look at while he was there. 1st Call Plumbing is at the top of our list and we will continue to use them. Great find and exceptional service.

The plumbing system in the kitchen needed to be replaced at a rental property.  1st Call Plumbing and Drain Cleaning arrived at the house within 48 hours and had the repair completed same day.  they have a super easy appointment process and pay service. I would highly recommend them!

Easy to talk to, good work. They weren't weird. You ever have a weird or grumpy tradesman in your home? One time an electrician showed my husband a video of a car crash for fun. Another time a plumber just kind of looked at me whenever I asked a question. Not these people. These people were great.

I called 1st Call Plumbing this morning at 7:55 am. It's now 10:15 am and my garbage disposal replacement is all finished! My tenant said Robert was great - polite, businesslike, never complained about the tight working space, and took her wet garbage out to the dumpster for her. She was very impressed with the service. I had called a different plumber this morning that was located closer to the job site, and they couldn't come out for 10 days. Found 1st Call on Yelp. Should have called them first...

Absolutely stellar service!  We have used 1st Call Plumbing in three different homes and they are efficient, honest and clean up after themselves.

This is a family owned business and the owners and team members are THE very best.  They did a repiping job on our 50-year old two-story house with 2500 square feet, 2.5 baths, kitchen, laundry room and three external spigots. They also repiped us clear out to the curb and the city hook-up (this should always be done but it is optional) and they did it without tearing up our entire yard. Upon completing this hook-up, Doug added a water-to-the-house shut-off valve inside our house -- now no need any longer to go out to front curb to turn off water.  Needless to say, we were terrified -- the thought of what all this would entail was a bit overwhelming.  But Doug and Lainie (owners) came to our home twice to go over everything with us to make sure we understood how the process would take place before we decided to proceed. They said it would take only two days for the whole process.  We thought, Sure, uh-uhm!  But true to their word, the job was completed in two days.
     So much to say:  just the nicest people to work with, they always covered their shoes when in the house, covered flooring where they were walking and working, really know their business, responded quickly to any emails/questions.  Their customer service is outstanding. A week after job was completed we discovered a small drip in the bathtub.  We emailed them late morning, they called us mid-afternoon, and Doug was here by mid-morning the next day to fix it.
      Lainie and Doug, Gabe and Nick, if you read this, thank you so much for a job so well done.  We very much enjoyed working with you. Almost hoping we have another plumbing issue soon!

I was really worried when I saw water dripping from my kitchen cabinets (downstairs) after a bath in the upstairs bathroom.  I was hoping I just needed a new bathtub drain stopper or something but it turns out I had a leak that was causing water damage behind the wall and dripping all the way down the outside of the pipe.  I am so glad I called 1st Call Plumbing.  These guys were very courteous and quick despite the fact that what was supposed to be an 'easy' call became a bit more involved for them.  As a first-time home owner I had no idea what to expect but the work was done fast and I felt the price was very reasonable.  Thanks Doug!

Made an appointment with 1st call because my water heater wasn't making hot water. Called, and they were able to come 3 days later, seems all plumbers are busy right now.

They diagnosed that both of my elements were blown in the water heater. Replaced both, and I had hot water in minutes. I was charged $125/hr. plus parts, Which seems quite high considering they were only here for 30 mins. Either way I'm grateful for having hot water again. I haven't priced other plumbers in the area, but I would hire them again for professionalism alone.

I called to get an estimate then was told I have definitely called before because my same number popped up? Then was told to not call again due to Shopping without ever receiving a quote or any help! How am I to get a good price without calling around for quotes?

Nick and 1st Call are gems! Honestly, I've never felt so good about plumbing services, mostly because problems with plumbing are so (to us) mysterious and super costly. Early winter time we found a good amount of water on the floor of our garage, and we had no idea where it came from. Call 1st Call, talk to the amazing and helpful Lainie, and Nick is out in the next couple of days. He diagnoses and fixes the problem in less than an hour. Then we called more recently about a toilet that we cannot unclog permanently, and based on Lainie's advice we purchased a replacement toilet (from Amazon, it was easy in fact). Once the toilet arrived I got back in touch with Lainie and she coordinated an appointment with Nick. He arrives at our home and is so friendly, helpful, professional and efficient that we told him he's our plumber for life! Also, he took away the large boxes and packing from the old toilet and for a small fee took the old toilet itself; we had thought, what are we going to do with this thing? Fortunately Nick took it so that problem was off our shoulders.

YES call 1st Plumbing, they are awesome. And we'll use them for the rest of our years---- thanks especially to Nick and Lainie!

P.S. If you order a replacement toilet be sure to see if it comes with a lid. Ours did not so we ordered separately. Nick installed the old lid on the new toilet temporarily. So helpful!

I needed a new install for a double bowl sink in my kitchen.  It was super easy to schedule the work. Doug showed up on time, was friendly, and it was easy to tell that he had plenty of experience.  Within the hour he had the faucet, 2 drains, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and 2 new shutoff valves installed.  Very efficient. Very clean. Really good job.

We needed our new fixtures installed in our bathtub- it was super last minute short notice as another plumber left us hanging. 1st Call was wonderful! The guy who came out was super polite and did a great job- and he cleaned up the area good. I normally do all the work in our house myself (contractor) however I just did not have time for this project before our bathroom remodel that weekend. Would definitely use them again!

Doug is THE BEST!!! Best service, friendly and informative. They truly want to help and get things done right, while also being fair on price/budget. He even made an extra trip out after I couldn't figure out my new shower head. They will be my first call for all plumbing needs in the future!

We had such a great experience with this company today. They were busy but came out the day after I called. My 80 year old mom was having drain issues. We previously had the line snaked by a different company and it was still backing up. Nick came out to see what the problem was and give us a bid. There is some extensive work to be done but he hustled and fixed the main issue so that she could use the sinks, toilet and shower with out any problem. He had another job to get to and we so appreciate him going under the house, cutting out bad pipe and getting the water flowing. We will have them back to do the larger job and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I have used 1st call plumbing on three separate projects.  New hot water heater, kitchen remodel and a total re-pipe of house and bath remodel.  Again and again I am impressed at the friendly, professional, and on time service.  The professional advice and guidance as I planned my project was invaluable.  I felt very confident that prices were fair and I wasn't being over charged.  I  have recommended 1st call to friends and feel confident that are in good hands.

Last week I needed a laundry drain cleared. These guys accepted the challenge and had a guy on site within a few hours. I forgot the name of the technician, but he was thorough and made sure all steps were taken to clear the drain. They accepted a credit card (over the phone, and with a 4% service charge).

They charge $95/ hr to come out, up to the first hour.

Overall, everyone I talked to was professional and courteous. I would definitely use this company again!

This guys are great! My kitchen sink got plugged up on a Sunday afternoon.  Not too many plumbing places are open, or are willing to work you into their schedule on a Sunday - but 1st Call did!  Even though they advertise as being closed on weekends - they answered the phone.  Doug was over to my place pretty quick.  I had a tough plug but he worked hard at it with the snake and he got it loose.  He charged me a little more for coming out on a Sunday - but the price wasn't really that bad.  I had called another place who had also answered on a Sunday - but they wouldn't come out that same day & they quoted me a minimum price for a weekday that wasn't too much below Doug's price for doing Sunday work.  I really appreciate Doug fitting me in on a Sunday.  He's good at his job, and for a reasonable price, and is a nice guy to boot! (& also his wife, who came with him & helped him).  This should be your 1st Call!

They rescued me when I tried to flood my kitchen. Nick was fast and professional and I'll definitely call them when I need plumbing work in the future

Just an update that over the years we have continued to use Doug and First call - probably 3 times and a 4th scheduled for next week.   They continue to do the job right.   Great attitude, the price is right and most importantly - they fix things right the first time.  
We have an old house, 92 years old, and several previous owners who were Home Depot Weekend Warriors who didn't know jack squat about repairs.  We know one of the previous owners through neighborhood holiday parties Yeah, I'm a chef - taught myself how to fix that! All proud. Jackass.
Yeah yeah, here I am 7 years later having someone sort out your rigged up system made of presswood, pot metal and duct tape...
Anyway. Doug comes in and is helping us sort out the plumbing issues one by one.   Will absolutely keep my business as they have these past 5 years.

Great company to work with! Doug helped us with plumbing during our recent remodel. Its a great asset to work with someone who has a ton of experience. Getting approvals from the city was a breeze, work was completed on time and with highest quality. When we had some plumbing emergency Doug has showed up at the whee hours to get it fixed. Great professional. Strongly recommend for your next plumbing adventure!

So thankful for 1st call, they will be my first call next time I need a plumber. They came quickly (next afternoon), diagnosed my problem immediately and had it fixed in no time.  Very friendly and courteous, professional and efficient.

We had received a quote from 1st Call Plumbing, and we all agreed to move forward.  We scheduled with our general contractor to meet at our house.  The plumber was in a grumpy mood when they arrived from the start. Like the guy seemed pretty upset that he even had to be here. And then we talked about stuff while we waited for our contractor. We are first time homeowners and we have a lot of questions.  We want to understand what is going on, and I asked a question about something in their contract. He interrupted and he said, You know what, I don't even want to be here right now. It's an energy thing, and I am getting bad energy from you, so have a good day but I'm leaving. Then as they left, Our showed up and they said to him, We are pulling out of this one, good luck.

If this isn't the perfect example of unprofessionalism, then I don't know what is.  We took off time from our jobs, our contract took time to meet with him, and he blew us off because the energy of wanting to ask questions before we spent thousands of dollars?

I've used them twice now.  The first time for a gas water heater installation and most recently, a water spigot installation on the back of my house.

Doug and his other crew member were efficient and easy to work with.  The water spigot they picked out was awesome as it looked very commercial grade and was installed to perfection.

Extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and PROMPT! As in they came over 30 minutes after my first call to them. After a string of super unpleasant contractor experiences, it was SO nice to finally have a really positive one! Highly recommend Doug and the team here.

I called six different plumbers before I found this company, and they were the only ones willing to squeeze me in for an emergency. In fact, they were one of only three that called me back. I had a shower valve break in a one bathroom apartment, and the multiple tenants that relied on it were without a bathroom. 1st call made it happen, and fixed everything perfectly the very next day.

They did a great job and for half as much as a couple of other plumbers that quoted the job.

Great service! Called in the morning and they fixed the clog on the same day. Super friendly and quick. My kitchen sink was clogged and they were here and gone in under the first hour. Even checked out the adjoining sink and dishwasher. Very recommended!

It's so nice to find a great plumber located so close to home! Doug gave me a very fair estimate for an unusual job, and it ended up being an easy experience on my end from start to finish. I have complete confidence in the quality of the job and appreciate all their hard work, and would not hesitate to call them in the future for any plumbing we need done.

Doug and his crew came over and diagnosed the problem we had, worked on it for two hours and determined they were not the ones that would be able to help, but got us on the right track, since it was a huge sewer line repair with lots of digging and concrete cutting work work.  Honest answers, honest assessment, no funny business.    The way business should be done.   Even though they were not able to fix the problem, they did not treat us as an afterthought.   Good job Doug and crew!!!!!

We had 1st Call Plumbing come to our home and replace our old rusted pipes throughout our 1955 built home. Doug's crew was fast and performed excellent work. The job was completely done in 2 1/2 days. It is a pleasure to recommend this small companies work.

Responsive, experienced, efficient, friendly, and fair-priced. If you need more in a plumber, you're way too high-maintenance. :-)

When my way-too-expensive faucet began leaking from parts inaccessible to me, I called about four different plumbers, and 1st Call made a significant effort to fit me in, even though this was not an emergency. Doug and his crew were a pleasure - from the first call to schedule, to the final installation of a faucet that no longer leaked. I would use 1st Call again in a heartbeat. In fact, I might even invent some plumbing projects just so I can hire them again!

So I get home from work and I have water coming out of my basement ceiling. I panic, look at Yelp, and call 1st Call, and boy am I glad I did. I'm in SE Portland, so it was incredibly convenient and Doug rushed right over to our house and got the leak under control. A week later (timing was my issue - had to deal with the water damage) Doug and Lainie were over to install a new faucet and fix a clogged tub. They were super fast and efficient and total pros. They're in demand and it's easy to see why. I definitely recommend them!
