Tank yanker installed my tankless water heater in December 2010. After a few few years, I started noticing black particle in the water, especially when we fill the bath tub. Since it started more frequently, I decided to contacted Tank yanker. He came and said it is water problem, he said he can install a water filter for $550. I said, we are just treating symptom not the cause. I decided to contact the manufacturer Noritz. They also said, it could be water problem. I said, there are many people in our neighborhood who has tankless water heater and none of them have this problem.
I called another plumber and he said it is the problem with flex pipe Tank yanker used which has rubber inside to connect the hot water output to copper pipe. He replaced it and our problem is solved. When he took the flex pipe out, the rubber inside was disintegrated and was coming out.
I think Tank yanker knew the problem, but he did not want to admit and want to get another $550 to just correct the symptom. I do not know this was just an oversight during the installation or intentional, but he could have easily fixed it.

We have not had the funds to do this repair and cut on of our gas service, due to cost, because called Atmos Energy; and, an expensive, required, Pressure Test, City inspection and Reactivation Fee imposed was required, etc... (Requirement of Atmos Energy). This expensive ordeal and my endless search for qualified, reasonable plumber, had turned into a nightmare! My plumbing nightmare issues and being chilled to the bone are now, but a big blurr and now, in the past, thanks to SMITH & SON PLUMBING!

Jenny, Micah's wife, answered my call and gave me more information than I could ask for. She was not only helpful but friendly. I felt like I was speaking to a good friend. Once Micah arrived, we talked through my issue and he fixed it quickly and replaced my kitchen faucet with a brand new one I had recently bought with no extra charges. So due to a conversation I had with Denise at My Local Plumber this morning, I am so incredibly disappointed and flabbergasted. Prior to today, my review would have been 5 stars. The only reason it is not 1 star as I review this company for the first time is because we have used them for past work, it was done without any issue, and customer service was great. The low rating is due to the customer service experience and decision today from the company to cease offering any future services to our family. We can easily find a reputable local plumbing company, yes, but it is just more disappointing that a company we have used multiple times in the past, that we have remained up-to-date on paying all invoices/bills, has chosen to stop providing services to us because we are difficult customers.
I called Denise this morning to try to understand their position and to get on the same page with their perspective, but could not make sense of where they were coming from. There were SEVERAL points made as to why they were refusing future service to us. Out of these multiple reasons, I could definitely understand and relate to one of them, which is a big inconvenience for businesses. It was due to a miscommunication between my wife and I --- and I was hoping they would understand that, would have billed us for it (which they did not), and know that it was a mistake/miscommunication issue that does happy occasionally. I had scheduled for them to come out to look at a leak issue but when they arrived on-site to assess the issue (less than 30 mins total), my wife had indicated to me that she had scheduled for an irrigation company to do the repair, understanding that the leak was due to a sprinkler issue and not a plumbing issue. I kindly apologized to Reuben and explained the situation, and he went on his way. He did not do any manual labor or have time to pull out any tools. It was simply a visual assessment of the issue. Having said that this was not well handled by my wife and I, and I understand that. We took time out of the day of a worker for the company, a trip charge at minimum, and caused Reuben to re-arrange his schedule to come out to our property. However, we were not told before-hand, during (when Reuben was on-site), or anytime after that we would need to pay or would owe anything for at least a trip charge. Now we are being penalized, in essence, for something we never had any control over. We have paid every bill/invoice that has come across our desk and are now having things that are beyond our control (outside what was mentioned above - which was clearly our fault) being held against us. Things that maybe could have and should have been billed to us were not (that is definitely not our fault and beyond our control) and now that blame is being put on us. I just don't understand the reasoning. If service is being refused because of the isolated incident mentioned above, I wish Denise would have simply said so. This is the sole reason we are choosing not to work with you again - because you forced us to mess up our schedule for that particular day and it was a disrespectful way you handled scheduling with us. But that was far from the only reason she brought up. Also, we would have willingly, without question, paid for a trip charge to cover the inconvenience, but again, that was never discussed before, during, or after the fact.
Without going deeper into the weeds on the conversation and issue, and based on my overall experience with this company, heavily weighting my review based on my customer service issue and call with the company this morning, I would like to encourage others not to use this company. They way they handled our relationship with us (a past/loyal customer that has up-to-date with any outstanding invoices) is unacceptable, disappointing, and very poor.

I've dealt with Hard Times Plumbing multiple times and they were always honest, courteous, professional, and dependable. Eric stands behind his work and doesn't stand for shoddy repairs. Just had two gentlemen come out to clear a drain line. On the weekend, in the late afternoon. They did what was needed in a very timely manner. Most of my friends use them as well.

After the thaw after the hard freeze, Feb., 2023, we noticed saturated ground outside our house. The first plumber sent a man who spoke almost no English, refused to answer questions, and charged me $80. I called Bill Blankenship. He came out almost immediately with a helper. They decided that there was 2 - 3 leaks under the slab. We decided that the saturated ground froze, expanded, and pinched the pipe under the slab. I could have them tunnel to the leak(s), or have the house re-plumbed with plastic but at a higher cost. I decided to have it re-plumbed. The USAA adjuster agreed with the price, the workers were courteous and competent, and repairs were made to all of the holes made in the sheetrock. Also, he replaced 2 toilets and checked on his help every few hours and inspected their work. He was courteous and gave me advice about the work being done. It was a large project, and I was only out the deductible on my policy.
