Tuesday 3/22/22 I left home around 8:30 AM and saw nothing out of the ordinary. Came home around 4PM and the water meter vault was flooded as well as part of the parkway. Well shoot.
Years ago I had been a plumber for a while and knew how to diagnose the problem, Turned off the ball valve at the house and looked at the meter and the flow indicator was spinning, indicating a leak between the meter and house.
Through Yelp, I contacted several plumbers and ended up obtaining 4 quotes Wednesday and Thursday, one of which was for Trench Plumbing.
The instant I met Joseph C. and started talking to him, I was very impressed. This is a driven young man with an excellent understanding of work ethic and customer service in an old school kind of way. He is polite, affable, neat and clean.
Comparing the quotes, I chose Joseph, Trench Plumbing . His quote was significantly lower than the other 3 (though the next highest was only $150 above his) and $1500 less than the highest bid. He started the work Friday morning around 11 (he had 2 jobs scheduled before me) and before sundown my water was back on.
Now to the most impressive part, the quality of his work. This was a replacement, not a repair, so there was plenty of shovel work. When the digging was done I was dumbfounded. Joseph did not dig a ditch, he sculpted a trench. Sculpted. Never in my life have I seen shovel work like it. The depth was perfectly consistent. The bottom was flat, the walls were vertical, and watching him, there was no wasted movement. Every move counted. He takes a pride in his work that is rarely seen today anywhere. Anywhere.
Joseph is a rare kind of craftsman, and 'craftsman' is a strange word to attach to someone who most would call a 'ditchdigger'. He is SO much more than that.
Joseph C. and his company Trench Plumbing are highly recommended with no reservations whatsoever.
P.S., There is no larger-than-life color portrait of him on the side of his truck

Yesterday, $145.00 for 30 minute service call to determine what was wrong with water heater. Service technician did NOT even attempt to start burner. Just removed part. Burner Assembly failed . Today advised replacement part cost exceeds $300.00, only one year warranty; on-line pricing for similar Burner Assembly is under $50.00. In addition, another $145.00 labor charge to install. B&B expectations are that the plumber should be paid $550.00 for one hour of work! Plumbing services are not worth anywhere near this outrageous expectation. Brand new water heater costs $1000! Comes with 6 year warranty. Simple math, 1 + 1 = 2, not 600. Larceny comes in all shapes and sizes...

Wow! These guys are great. I called them with a plumbing emergency and they were at my house in less than an hour. Price was more than reasonable for the situation at hand. I will gladly recommend them to my friends and family.

Federico and his team did an amazing job.
For background, we have a house that was built in 1955, so our waste piping was degrading, and all of the water pipe to the house and routing through the house were old galvanized pipe. For those that do not know, waste piping will degrade after a long period of time. Also, back then, pressure piping (hot water and cold water) was made out of galvanized steel. If not replaced, it will eventually burst, and cause additional damage to the rest of the home.
We knew it was coming and asked for an estimate. With previous projects, I knew that his team was meant for the job. We asked for the drainage piping to be replaced, pressure revised to PEX piping. And upgrade the water heater from tank to tankless (higher efficiency). Was also added an ice maker line and tub replacement.
After confirmation of work (maybe on a Sunday), Federico and his team were able to start that Monday. During this time, we found out that the pressure piping from the house to the city had to be replaced, which was a reasonable amount added. We also had puddles of water and waste below the kitchen piping. So we lucked out they were able to get that fixed before it got worse.
They got the entire job done within a week! So fast! They provided their trash removal, and got rid of the water heater. They also removed any exposed piping that we didn't need anymore. The only thing that pushed it was the city wanted drawings for inspection. We also had to wait for the piping to get inspected. (FYI: inspection is required when getting city permits to do projects on your house, so it's standard). So the city was a minor draw back, but not too big of a deal.
The team did an amazing job, and all the piping looks nice and great. They only required a few holes to get the job done, but they told us beforehand. Some side notes that makes this company better than most: 1) Federico explains exactly what you and your house needs to make it functional, and work. 2) They don't cut corners, and are completely honest. 3) very communicative. 4) always on time. 5) very efficient. 6) always professional.
If we need more work done, we'll definitely be calling them again. We HIGHLY recommend this company.

Wonderful experience with Overtime Plumbing! They showed up in less time than they initially quoted me, were nice and polite, offered helpful advice, and were really reasonable in their charge. I would definitely use them again.

Fabulous work and reasonable on price. I got my quote quickly enough and felt it was the best out of my options and inquiries plus he said he could have it done the next day! I went for it and his electrician arrived on time reviewed my request, got his ladder and went to work! I had 3 integrated LED SS pendant lights over my kitchen island that quit working within a year replaced with modern farmhouse pendants that I can change bulbs on. He knew exactly how to measure them next to each other so they all hang at the same level. Everything looks great! Plus! Sometimes I use Edison bulbs and sometimes I use regular bulbs all on dimmers too! Thank you ASAP... I will call again.

Complete let down. Bought his product one year ago. He told me it had to be serviced annually. I called and called and called leaving message, I texted, and texted and texted (to the owner, who would say things like, let me get to my office and I'll call you right away) I explained due to construction on our home, we were under a very tight schedule. No call back, no text.
We ended up call So Cal Water who immediately came out, replaced the filters and were excellent.
Water guy-- you really dropped the call on this one. I guess we weren't worth the trouble.
**Tim-- I was in communication w/ you personally via text. You personally told me on a Friday, that as soon as you returned to your office, you would call me. As you had had to look up my model and receipt from our purchase. Which you told me you personally had done. This whole thing went done stinky. I understand you may have been busy. You need to tell the customer that. Than we can decide to either wait, or hire another company. You only spoke to my husband after her left you a very stinky message. To all reading this, please disregard 'text' and replace w/Yelp message'

I was seeking a contractor to help install a toilet and also repair a leak and wanted to gather a few estimates since I've only needed plumbing services a few times in my life. I thought Rick had good reviews and gave him a call, and what I found out is that he is NOT a person that you want to work with.
He asked for some pictures of the project and since he was too lazy to just see for himself. I sent him several pictures and then he began to get angry saying that hey your pictures would be better if you moved all your garden and table items. I didn't think I was going to be sending so many pictures that he wanted so I obviously didn't have time to move it prior to me taking the pictures. Then after just merely 8 minutes of talking he got angry and began raising his voice saying you need to stop making me work so hard. It was such an incredulous statement because if he calls this work, then he needs to stick with the labor portion and hire someone to do the communications/sales portion.
Another clue of him being lazy is that he didn't want to do any non-plumbing work (i.e. deck removal) and just wanted an easy job. He also recommend re-routing the pipe from below the deck to above the deck so that he didn't have to un-assemble the joyce, which would be ridiculously ugly... who would do that? So he obviously a contractor that would take short cuts and not fix things the right way.
I'm not sure if he was drinking at a bar because it was loud and sounded like he was at a restaurant. But he obviously has a temper and based on his responses he is very critical and thinks he's always right (machismo?). I;m glad to have found this out on a short call prior to hiring him so I count this as a true blessing. This is just a warning for potential customers because I honestly and truly believe that his 5 star review is NOT legitimate. Either that or this guy is bi-polar and I caught him on a REALLY bad Friday afternoon after the holidays... I wouldn't feel comfortable with someone like this in my home, and I am a dude who can handle himself... I can't imagine a young lady feeling any better with someone like this who knows where you live.... Don't say I didn't warn you.

I had an unusual issue. One of the kids put a baseball down the backyard drain. With the forecasted rains, I knew it had to be cleared out. The drain is also shared with my neighbor and I did not want any flooding issues.
After a few unsuccessful calls with other plumbing companies, I called Prodigy and they promptly set up someone to come by later in the morning. The company called me when he was 15 mins out and then the driver called when he arrived.
I explained the situation and he pulled out a pipe camera to see how far the ball was in the drain. In the end, he was able to push the ball back through the drain with the camera. It was all done within 30 mins.
Jerry was our plumber and he was very professional and friendly with my kids. He introduced himself on arrival, explained what he was going to do and then got right on it.
I was very happy with the service. I have a stack of their business cards and will make sure my neighbors are aware that there is a good plumbing company around us.

I recently had a faucet that wasn't producing hot water fast enough. Anthony did an amazing job explaining what I needed to do to my tankless to have it working better! He descaled the tankless and had everything wrapped up in 45mins. Karina was the one who picked up the call and coordinated the scheduling, very nice and enjoys her job clearly! Anthony also recommended a repipe which we are following with and will start soon. Thanks again clean out kings. Call and speak with Karina and mention to her you want Anthony!

Nothing makes a homeowner feel more inept than a plumbing problem, especially when you find water coming up through the floor of your house. This is what happened to us, and as past experiences with plumbers had been less than optimal, we were at a loss about who to call to help find and fix the problem. We only knew things are bad when you start seeing water come up through your tile floor
Enter Ted & Bros Plumbing.
They were recommended to us by a friend who has used them in the past for his property management company. Ted and his crew spent a lot of time finding the specific tile under which the offending leak was occurring. The equipment they used was high tech, and they were very proficient at using it to map out the myriad of pipes under our floor. Once found, the digging began, which sounds bad, but we could not even imagine another plumbing company attempting the repair.
It took a few days, but Ted and his crew cordoned off the area, were super clean, on time, and updated us along the way on the progress. Their entire team was courteous, professional, and very friendly. Just good guys who really enjoy what they do, which was evident in the pride they take in their work.
So, I will still feel inept whenever I encounter a plumbing problem, but I have found the company I will call every time going forward...Ted & Bros. A trustworthy company, fair pricing, and just great service all around.

I've been hiring plumbing contractors for nearly 45 years, in major construction projects, both residential and commercial, as well as for my own home projects over the decades. I've seen quality work that was far too expensive, and substandard work that wasn't worth the time it took to write the check or run my credit card.
Rarely do I come across an individual contractor who possesses that rare quality of knowing his value: more commonly understood as the quality of his work, measured against the price he expects to be paid for that work. Often, average folks expect to be paid more than they're worth, and top notch pros are simply unaffordable.
Albert Sandoval, DBA Cal Tech Plumbing is that one in 10,000 pros who charges less than he's worth. Don't expect him to come plumb your new home in exchange for a Costco roasted chicken, but on the other hand, if that was all you had to offer, he might accept it, do the job, and never tell anyone that you did him wrong. He's one of those rare stand up guys who will take one on the chin and never utter a word about how he got stiffed. Don't get me wrong, or think that you could rip him off, and he'd be back next week for more- he's not stupid. Albert is one of the most dedicated professionals I have ever hired in a trade that can at times be simply crap- literally. He knows his trade well and practices it with dignity, professionalism, and determination. His prices are fair and reasonable in a trade that has become more expensive than seeing a doctor. And if for some reason you need to be cut a little slack, he's the rare contractor who would do a job with little profit, simply because he believed it was the right thing to do, considering all the circumstances. If these qualities weren't sufficient to make you want to call him right now, imagine this: I live in Seattle, Washington and I needed a plumber in Whittier, California, and I needed him immediately- I had a genuine emergency, and was at the mercy of any plumber who said,Well sir, I've got a lot on my plate this week, and I'm a little backed up, but let me see what we can do. I had to be willing to pay a serious premium (more commonly called getting over charged, fleeced, gouged, any any number of other things). I called him repeatedly while he was in the middle of a ditch working on a burst sewer line, and not once did he ignore my call and let it go to voice mail. I was shocked. No doubt he knew I was desperate, but he never took advantage of that knowledge. He took my calls, hour after hour, simply because he is one of those professionals who does not have an over inflated view of his own importance. He's like a doctor who does house calls, or a service station attendant who checks your tire pressure, washes your windows, and checks your oil and is quick about it to boot. He reminds me a little bit of the kind of guy my 90 year old dad was back in the 1950's when he'd come home from the fire station after fighting fires all night, throw on his overalls and go pour cement or lay a block wall for a neighbor. Don't get me wrong. Cal Tech is not in business to go out of business because of poor management. Simply put, these guys are top notch in every way, and you'll never walk away wondering, Did I pay too much? On the contrary: Albert and his guys will leave after you've paid him, and the next day you'll pinch yourself an say, Wow, what great work, and what an amazing price. So what's the catch: Am I his cousin, or his brother-in-law, and this review is a ringer? Not at all. I've never met the man. In fact, three day ago I'd never heard of him- I had no reason to. As I said, I live in Seattle and needed some emergency plumbing done in Whittier, and I got more than I bargained for. I got top notch work, of the highest quality, and paid a very reasonable price- in 2019! Unheard of! Call Albert at Cal Tech. You won't be disappointed. On the contrary- you'll be glad.

These guys are the best!......Bert always figures out the problem and tackles it with speed and expertise!.....they replaced my leaking garbage disposal and also checked on other plumbing issues while they were here.....they answered my call at 8pm, after most other plumbing companies have gone home and were able to take care of my problem the very next day!....great service and flexibility.

Just when you think you've found a great plumbing service...We've used DC Drains 4 times now, twice in a place we rented for this past year and twice in the past week in our new home. We didn't pay the bills at the rental, but here at the new place their mark up is ridiculously high. Do they do good work, yes. Is it worth the 100% mark up, not for us. It's a shame.

My condenser wasn't starting, it was trying and trying. We were really concerned it was the compressor. It was 88 in Santa Ana that day and our usual company said it would be 10 days before they could come out.
From a google search we found Absolute Airflow and they said someone would be out in an hour. David came out and diagnosed the problem and thankfully it was not the compressor. David knew what the problem was after looking outside but he still went up to the attic crawl space to check for any air flow or pest issues.
David was just the absolute best, professional, personable, honest and just a great guy to interact with. He took me through each step of his diagnosis and I feel like I understand my system much better and know what do to maximize its life.
I would absolutely recommend Absolute and David anytime!
Thanks again David!

Xtreme Plumbers took Xtreme advantage over my kids when they had a pipe leak. They came out and replaced a section of pipe and charged over $400 for an hours work, My kids were naive enough to accept the bid instead of asking how long the job would take and what were the material cost which should have been about $10. When I called these people I got some lame excuses. I would be very careful when dealing with this company as they will take advantage of you if you are not knowledgeable about the plumbing issue.
