Was referred to this Company through an insurance program I had with the Gas Company. My gas line which leads into my house had rotted, which meant a total extensive repair. Tech's Erik and Octavio did a fantastic repair. The job took almost all day and a lot of physical manual labor. They took care in preserving the lawn they had to remove, and totally cleaned up the area before they lift. This is a very professional firm and I totally recommend them.

There are so many respectable companies that want your business and will provide excellent service, there is no reason to use this company. It comes from the top, the owner, Joe, who is rude and burned out. He doesn't give a damn about his customers and has enough business. If you happen to be an insurance referral, they will blow you off because they can't rip you off. To them, you are not a customer, just a pesty homeowner with plumbing issues. They are least interested in customer service. Their website is just another standard marketing tool with no truth to it. The Plumber was supposed to arrive between 2- 4pm, but then they called around 4:30 to schedule an appoinment! Now the tech said he would be at my home between 8-9pm. I called him at 9:15pm to find out when he would arrive and he said he wasn't coming! He didn't call and probably had no intention to show up for the job from the get go. He didn't offer any apologies, just oh well, too bad. Talked to the owner the next day and he had the same take it or leave it attitude. This is a large company led by an arrogant owner. Bad attitude by the employees rolls down from the top!

Called to get an estimate and naturally they said they'd Gabe to come out to check it out to provide an estimate. The kicker here is that they charge $89 just to come to only take a look and provide an estimate.

Had a major backup right before Thanksgiving. Almost had a panic attack since I was hosting Thanksgiving dinner. Called Downey plumbing and Juan did an outstanding job fixing the problem. Great customer service! Felt like he was sincere and fair with his pricing. He was very professional, quick, and clean. Definitely recommend Juan!
We've been longtime customers of Downey Plumbing. If you want something done right this is the place. Recently had Erick out to our house for two separate issues. Not only did he complete the job correctly and in a timely and efficient manner but he's very courteous as well!! Thanks Downey!
The continuing saga of This (damned) Old House of mine:
I'm hard-pressed to even remember how many times Downey plumbers have been to my house since I wrote my initial review in 2012. It would have been easier if all the plumbers had just moved in.....
A couple years ago they had to install liners in my outside drain (sewer?) pipes.
Over the years there have also been a series of emergency calls for pinhole leaks & other small stuff. Thank goodness there's someone at Downey on call 24 hours because I've had to call in the middle of the night on weekends.
Last week, sick of the threat of more pinhole leaks, I decided to re-pipe the entire house. (Some previous owner had used the wrong grade copper.) The pipes have to be accessed in places that requires cutting into drywall & plaster.....it's a destructive situation, be forewarned if ever you do this.
But part of the re-pipe package was drywall patching & those guys are here as I write this.
A few days before the re-pipe, my furnace died (an easy fix) along with the hot water heater (replaced with a new one). Downey to the rescue. But one helluva crazy week for me. I'm exhausted.
There's probably no Downey plumber I haven't met, is my point. And there are a lot of them.
The good news: without exception, Downey plumbers are the coolest bunch of guys you will ever hope to encounter. They are very professional. They always get the job done right at what I consider to be a fair price.
Customer service & satisfaction are excellent at Downey. They go the extra mile in this regard.
Can't even imagine what I would have done without Downey Plumbing over the past 4 years or so.
Tip: old houses are loaded with character, but all that charm comes at a price.
If I don't run out of major projects pretty soon I'm gonna just throw in the towel and pitch a tent on the beach.
The good news: all those projects provide plenty of fodder for reviews of contractors!

He sent out his best man Santiago and Art and solved the issue we had and then agreed to splitting the damages we incurred. It was nice to have something work out positively concerning service work where the customer has issues and the owner of the company want to make it right and it happens.
Bad situation turns out ok.
My insurance company sent Downey Plumbing Heating & Air. Within just a few minutes of hanging up with my insurance company, I was contacted by them and scheduled a next day appointment. Orlando arrived just 10 minutes into my time slot and promptly identified the issue. He explained all of my options and we are moving forward. Orlando was very courteous, and professional. He made sure I understood each option thoroughly. He is retuning to install a well worn shut off valve to my house early next week. Thanks Orlando!

Had Downey Plumbing back out for my Shower backing up, Once again excellent service. Technician was prompt & professional
I woke up today to my service porch being flooded by my water heater. I called my insurance provider. They use Downey to cover claim calls. Jackie from Downey Plumbing called me in a few minutes. She scheduled me in for the first appointment tomorrow. I am old, I need hot water. Jackie said that she would call me if someone canceled and they could get to me today...and about an hour later, she called and said that a plumber was on the way! Eric showed up, made friends with my little rescue dog and got to work. Because of a service contract problem, Eric was unable to fix the problem. He called my insurance provider to see if there was any way that they would cover the cost. He really went to bat for me. When it was clear that it wasn't going to work out, he carefully explained to me what the problem was. Who knew that I could understand plumbing BUT he made it simple and even left me a diagram as to what needed to be done. Plumbing problems are a head ache, a back ache and a toshy ache but LOL, today, Jackie and Eric, took pride in their work and I am so grateful. Downey Plumbing, thank you for really providing customer service at it's best.

Warning!!!! Do not trust this company get a second opinion they just try to take us for almost $1000 getting two boilers repaired . So I called a different plumber he repair The two boilers in less than an hour one of them just needed to be reset it charge me less than 150$they will take a vantage of you get a second opinion

Downey Plumbing was called out to my house for a hot water heater repair, they took one look at my hot water heater without an evaluation or a diagnostic
And informed me that it was unrepairable and that I will have to get a brand new unit for a cost of $1500, I then contacted Moreno Plumbling 310 927 8829 they repaired my Hot Water Heater for a cost of $180.00,, Downey Plumbing is a major rip off do not use their services . I repeat do not use their services they are a major rip off
Call somebody else for another estimate you have been warned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Working with Downey Plumbing was a great experience, they came out right away and fixed my air conditioner, and their rates were very reasonable.

I have been a loyal customer of Downey Plumbing for a few years. I made an appointment to have a faucet replaced today at 5 pm. At 4:58 pm, I received a phone call from a lady I'd never spoken to before --assuming it was someone from dispatch. I was advised by the lady from dispatch that my faucet would not be replaced today, and the most that would be done was an estimate. I immediately told her that I was already given a price, so dont waste your time or mines for an estimate. The price that I was given by the lady that booked my repair appointment was $240, which I was prepared to pay. I was then told that the plumber would reach out to me. At 5:10, the plumber called and said that he would still be able to come, but the price is $250. I immediately declined. I would strongly advise that this company work as a team and communicate with each other because it's clear that the company's prices are fabricated, and they do not value people or their time. I called Downey for an air conditioning problem on a Saturday. They sent a technician that day. Tyler diagnosed the problem in a very short time. The air was working like new in a couple of days as he had to order parts. Excellent job.

I would recommend Downey plumbing to any and all customers needing prompt quality work done for any residential or commercial plumbing or heating repair required my plumber was Damian Ramirez and his helper Jose He was able to solve a difficult blockage problem that had other plumbers stumped Damian. is an extremely knowledgeable plumber and we wouldn't consider calling anyone else. He's a pleasure to work with.
My shower drain started slow draining and I contacted my home insurance provider. Downey contacted me within an hour or so to setup an appointment.
I was extremely happy with their responsiveness.
The technician, Ronald Alvarado, was on time very courteous and professional. After assessing my problem, he also checked to make sure my other drains were functioning properly. Mr Alvarado promptly took care of my drain problem and again checked that the other drains were functioning. Once finished, he cleaned up the work area and gave me suggestions on how to prevent possible slow draining in the future.
My hat's off to Mr. Alvarado and Downey Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning!
Great service replaced my heating igniter. I bit pricey but awesome customer service and great tech. Would give the full 5 five but again a bit pricy
Took 1 guy and an apprentice in person 35 mins to give an oral approximate estimate to replace water heater ; the other companies did it quickly on the phone or online. Their estimate came out more expensive than anybody elses.
Then instead of sending a written estimate by email that they said they would; they sent a copy of the guys 35 minutes time making the estimate.

I would never call Downey Plumbing for a plumbing issue. However, HomeServe (insurance through California Water Company) uses them for claims. Downey Plumbing literally expended over $3,000 on 4 service calls to determine that there was a leak exactly where I told them it was (because we had investigated before calling insurance) and exhausted my coverage so I still have to undertake the repair on my own. They are all about the up-sell rather than efficient management of the problem. They are expensive and inefficient - no thank you.

UPDATE: After my initial contact not going so well, Joe called me right away after I posted my review to rectify the situation. He explained that there was most certainly some grey area in the discussion regarding the warranty considering my condo was in escrow. He offered to send someone out the same day to diagnose the issue. I am happy to report that the tech came out and was able to trouble shoot the issue and resolve my concerns! Thank you Joe!
I have been using Downey Plumbing Heating and Air for many years now. We had an issue with water leaking. We didn't know where it was coming from. We called Downey Plumbing to get a second opinion. Sure enough the first company we called out misdiagnosed the plumbing issue we had. Josh and Jonathon from Downey Plumbing was able to find the issue and fix it. Thank you Josh & Jonathon!
Needed the Water Heater replaced so Tyler from Downey Plumber showed up and took care of everything he even hosed downed the back yard .

I call for an appointment and when they told me they had a service call of $98 I said is only to light the pilot on the furnace she said that is the minimum and any work to be done it will be added to that . Well let me tell you do not work with this company,there are other ones that really want our service and do a good job. I call another company and for $40 they came light the pilot and check the furnace.

Anytime we have plumbing or A/C & Heater issues, we call these guys.
We weren't having any issues this time around, just some regular maintenance on our A/C unit. Tyler was beyond helpful, explained everything to me, made some observations about the unit, made a suggestion that I went with, and it probably saved me $ down the road.
We've depended on them for years and have never had any issues with them. All the guys that have come over are courteous and professional. They give a decent window, usually 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours to show. We've even had guys call to say that they were running late or on their way.
When working, they are always eager to show me what they are doing, why, and how often it should be done. All the guys usually don't mind answering questions about what they are doing.
Prices are competitive, but I've learned when it comes this type of work, you get what you pay for. And these guys know their stuff, so I don't mind paying. (They usually send coupons in the mail.)
Next week they'll be here to descale our tankless water heater. I almost look forward to them coming out again. LOL.
I would never use this company again, as I found them to be unprofessional and dishonest among other things. Downey plumbing sent two workers out to my property on 12-16-2020 for a bathroom sink drain to be unclogged. After they spent a few minutes trying to snake my sink drain, they informed me that they were unable to get the cable down the drain properly and instead, the cable was going in the wrong directions, including up the vent pipe.
But after knowing the cable was going in the wrong directions, they continued to jam the cable into the drain for over 20 minutes, risking to cause possible damage. After approximately 30 minutes, they reconnected my trap and other pipe fittings and said it was still clogged and I witnessed it was still not draining. They removed the trap again and started to snake the line again. A few minutes later, they reconnected the trap and said the water is now draining and we successfully unclogged your drain. Just before they left, they gave me the bill which was 80 dollars more tan they quoted me. When I inquired about the extra charge, they said my plastic trap was bad and had to replace it- 5 minutes and a 5 dollar part for me to replace, but they spent 5 minutes and charged me 80 dollars for something that was working just fine before they came, with no leaks or problems.
That was very dishonest and unethical for them to replace a part without quoting and informing of the price first before they replaced it, not to mention the part did not need replacing to begin with. Was working just fine for me. I called their office that day and complained about the dishonest charge but the owner said he could only give me a 20 dollar discount, so I still had to pay 60 dollars more for something that did not need replacing.
But even worse, the only reason they got the drain unclogged and to flow, is because they caused damaged to my pipe which caused a hole in it. That is where the water was going- out the hole and in between my walls. Over a week and few days later, we discovered the water had been going on the floor and slowly coming out the other side of wall in the kitchen behind the stove. We called Downey plumbing that weekend when we discovered the leak and they said they did not cause the hole and it was going to be over 2 hundred dollars for them to come out because of the weekend.
I emailed the company with pictures and the details of my complaint and called and talked to Maria over a week ago- she said the owner was in a meeting and that he would call me back when he got out, but over a week now- no call back or response to my email which Maria told me they received. In the end, I was charged 170.00 from Downey plumbing and received terrible service, dishonesty, a damaged pipe that caused damage to my hardwood floors, and had to pay a plumber over 400 dollars to replace the damaged pipe that Downey plumbing caused. Over 700 dollars Downey Plumbing cost us- this and the fact that Downey plumbing never responded to my complaint- no call back or response to my written complaint should speak volumes and tell you a lot about Downey plumbing.
Absolutely incompetent. A broken main water line - whole street flooding. Cal water shut off my meter so a repair could be done. I had emergency insurance through Cal water. They contracted with Downey Plumbing who came at very end of day (despite I had NO WATER at all) and could not detect a leak so Cal water came and turned on my meter to show him how to detect a leak - water gushing. Downey Plumbing not equipped to do any repairs, left and called the next day saying they needed to schedule an appointment for leak detection tomorrow - Day 3! DESPITE NO WATER. The leak had already been detected they were completely inept and had no ability to detect or repair. Staff was dismissive, insensitive and downright arrogant. They deserve NO stars - Within 24 hours of hiring a new company the leak was detected and repairs were completed.
My water heater warranty company had Downey plumbing come out to look at my problem with my home not having any hot water pressure.
The first plumber arrived and noticed that my pilot was lit and working fine. He opened the hot side on the faucets, water trickled out and Immediately he recommended I re-pipe my home due to my galvanize pipes. He also reassured me that my old galvanize pipes was the problem. I told him loud bangs were heard coming from the water boiler. He told me the boiler was fine and he was able to quote me a home re-pipe and left.
I was not satisfied with his diagnosis. I went out and bought a long boiler flex hose and bridged the water lines. I opened all of my faucets hot side and cold water poured out.
I called the warranty company and requested another plumber to come out for a second opinion. They sent out a different tech from Downey plumbing who at first was going to replace a gas part. I told him the water tank was clogged. He said it looked fine and that my old pipes may be the problem. After a few minutes of going back and forth he bridged the system. Before you knew it water poured out from the hot side.
He installed a new water heater and the problem was solved. He did a great job and had a good attitude.
Be careful with anyone trying to pull a fast one.

Thank you AGAIN Downey Plumbing! We had 2 bathroom leaks last week. Thanks to Downey's technicians German and Steven, we are leak free! Downey Plumbing is our GO-TO for plumbing issues! The water heater they installed a couple of months ago is still working like a charm! Thank you Downey!
I found out the hard way my water main valve was stripped and I couldn't turn it off to make repairs for my washing machine. Paloma helped me set a time for their team to come help. Marcos and Carlos showed up during the appointed window of time. They were both courteous, clean and quick. All at a fair price. I have used this company several times and will certainly call them again. I highly recommend them.
Talk about smell good plumbers! These guys wer on time, profressional and loved my dogs. They came out and cleaned my drained for $99.00 bucks! They cleaned up after themselves and were super friendly. I would use them again! Tell your friends this is the plumbing co you want to work with!

I have lived in the area for 8 years and have used them 3 times. When we first moved in i had them come out and inspect our furnace and airconditioner before we started using anything. The guy that came out was very professional and thorough, he even went into the attic. I have had them out for plumbing issues also. They always send out specials through the mail so i just hold on to them in case i need it. I will continue to use their service and recommend them.

Well Joe we had not returned the call, not BC we where trying to be rude, but as my husband explained he's very ill and where at the hospital. Now we can go back and forth with this but here's the thing I have way to much to be stressing about and I don't need the extra stress, specially when you feel that we should be happy that your 2nd tech came out worked upstairs and did us a favor by not charging us. The funny thing Joe is when we spoke to the tech#1 we explained upstairs was clogged and actually it was the first toilet to become clogged. Then followed by toilet #2 so had tech 1 done his job there would have not been a 2nd call. And I heard when tech 2 called tech 1 to get some type of guidance on what had the issue been and for some reason all he responded was ahhh alright then I guess I'll jst figure it out myself thanx ... So I'll leave that to the imagination. Again your way of resolving or talking about the issue turned into my co is right and customer wrong or better now I have to be grateful bc I called to get warranty work done and now I didn't get charged thanx
Did a beautiful job the 2 young men were professional and kind and understanding I will recommend them to everyone.
To be clear I did not bring this up for your attention. I brought this up for future people/customers looking for plumbing service. I had to pay an extra 250 dollars because your team dropped the ball. Extremely disappointed and again. I had to pay someone else when it could have been handled by you guys.

Service Technician Orlando Cuevas is a true professional. He is very polite and is a very competent plumber. He diagnosed my water heater issue and knew that it needed to be replaced. He responded to my July 4th Holiday call and was very informative with respect to my broken water heater. He came back today and installed a new water heater for my home. I cannot think of a better professional plumber who has more than exceeded my expectations. This is someone who does the job right!

My floor furnace quit working. because a friend knew the previous owners of Downey Plumbing I called them. My house is a rental and I live 89 miles away so we set up a meeting time. Alex arrived right on time. He checked the furnace and said they would have to remove it and replace a few parts. Price was $900.00. I then paid the $79 service call charge. This would be deducted when work was done according to him. Because of some issues that needed to be taken care of it would be awhile before furnace could be worked on. I called a number of times asking for a written agreement on this finally taking to the owner Joe he did agree verbally to the agreement but still nothing in writing. The day Alex fixed the furnace my renters were having a problem with the bathtub draining so asked Alex to look at that. He said a piece from the stopper had fallen in so didn't have tools with to fix it. I finally had to call him. When he told me it would cost $725 to fix. I spoke with Joe the owner as I was also waiting for the invoice on the furnace. He asked me to pay by credit card but had big discussion on the original agreement of deducting the $79. Asked him to text me the invoice before I would pay. It took a revision before he did it correctly!! Decided at that point to find another plumber for the bath tub. It cost me $130 to have it fixed.
DOWNEY plumbing is INCOMPETENT, UNCOMMUNICATIVE, DISHONEST and OVERPRICED. Will never use them again.
Just read the response from Joe the owner of Downey plumbing and heating. When I talked to Joe after Alex told me what needed to be done and that the furnace would have to be removed he and I agreed upon $900 minus the $79 service call fee which I had already paid. Joe & Alex knew that there was a problem my renter had to take care of before they could do the job. When he said Alex checking The tub problem was done free that was only after they told me it would cost 700+ dollars to fix it. I said I would find someone else.
After being ripped of and lied to by a couple other companies that were associated with Old Republic Home Warranty, I decided the home warranty is worthless and decided to call Downey Plumbing heating and air.
The technician, Scott did a very thorough inspection of my heater, duct work, thermostat. He found my pilot assembly to be installed backwards. He took the time to explain how my heater works in great detail and informed me of how the heater worked or didn't work with that part installed wrong. This was my 3rd experience with this company and I have been very satisfied with all three visits.
Thanks for the pipe repair. Orlando was professional and courteous. My appointment time was between 10am and 2pm he arrived around 10:15.
Downey Plumbing was recommended by many of my friends and family for heating, air conditioning and plumbing needs. They were right, they were highly knowledgeable about everything and suggested that I do preventative maintenance so I would not be in an emergency situation paying more than I should. I have an emergency shut off valve now on my water heater and my pipes have been replaced with no more corroding being that they were such old pipes. I have not had anymore clogged drains since, no more back up coming out of my shower or bathtub. I can now be happy that my rental house is safe for my renters.

Southern Cal Gas Co. detected a gas leak at my home on Friday, June 9th and advised I needed a plumber to come out.
On Saturday, 6/10/23 I notified HomeServe Insurane which is a third party insurance made available through the gas company for a monthyly fee.
They advised that they would find a plumber right way. HomeServe advised they had an appointmemt for Sunday 6/11/23 between 9am - 1pm. We confirmed the appointment.
Downey Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning Company sent a text message with every detail of the appt.
The technician Eric Valencia called Sunday morning advising me of his estimated time of arrival. As the tiime was approching I reieved another call from Eric with an updated arrival time. This was so appreciated.
When Eric arrived he identified himself, asked a few questions and immediately started assessing the problem. He was professional, knowledgable, respectful and worked very hard to make sure our gas leaks were detected. It was a huge job and he was able to answer every question I had during the process. 6+ hours later, the job was complete.
He even stayed until I notified the Gas Co that the problem was fixed and the turn on service was scheduled. I would not hesitate to use Downey Plumbing again. Just when I thought it was over, Eric called back and advised should the Gas Co have any questions or additional findings to give him a call.
What can I say. Eric you set the bar real high.

Couldn't be happier with their service. Called in the morning for an appointment, they had someone here to check out our tankless water heater in the afternoon. The next day we have a new tankless water heater installed. Tyler was professional, and during this Covid time, wore a mask. Tyler was very clear explaining what was wrong, and our options. He called to let us know he was on his way. He took the time to go through the process to maintain our new system. We felt confident in his assessment and suggestions throughout the process. Very happy with the service he provided.
This place is trash period. My grandmother is 85, there is no reason why she's out of hot water due to the fact Downey pluming refuses to replace a simple water heater that has been serviced over 10X!!
I spoke with the Insurance company about this matter, I was told a new order form will be sent out again to Downey pluming suggesting they drain the water heater and return it for a new one.
Today makes the 11th time Downey pluming is at my grandmothers!! 9/29/18 and still no solution.. The same water heater is still here.

Downey plumbing did a repipe for us in May of this year after a pipe burst under a bathroom and bedroom . Our insurance adjuster said they would reimburse us for the portion that rerouted around the area of leaks . We paid in full upfront . When the job was complete I ask for for an estimate for the portion of work that the insurance adjuster said they would reimburse us for The owner of Downey plumbing refused to give us an estimate for that portion of work that we would have been reimbursed. The owner basically said I got my money fuck you ! This would have taken no real effort to have priced that portion of work that the insurance adjuster had agreed to reimburse us for if Downey would give an estimate for that portion . There was absolutely NO EXCUSE for the OWNER of Downey to basically tell us to get fucked I don't care if you get reimbursed for what you are owed . Anyone should consider this before hiring Downey .

They took a day and one half to install a water heater and left a mess on floor, carpet, and walls. They caused a gas leak as well and had to shut off the gas to 8 townhomes. As a life long Downey resident I could not in good faith recommend them. They used to have a good reputation but things have changed. For my trouble I was given a $25 discount off of a $1300 installation bill.

We have dealt with Downey Plumbing for many years now. They are always dependable and have provided the best service for us. Joe is the owner and he has even come through to personally call/email me when I've had questions.
I especially like Frank who I consider the most honest and dependable technician we've had all these years. He does the plumbing for the company. We are also pleased with other technicians who have different specialities.
Frank and his partner Orlando placed a new faucet in our powder room today. Looks great!! My husband and I are very satisfied with the work. Keep up the good work!!!

I was unsure of who to call to relocate our hot water heater (gas company? Plumber?), so I figured Downey Plumbing Heating & Air would be my best bet as they work with both gas and plumbing. No issues receiving an estimate and we scheduled service right away. Frank and Manuel came out and worked the entire day to get the job done in the estimated time frame. They were courteous, efficient, cleaned up all the mess, and most importantly, got the job done right. They went over all work done and answered any and all questions my husband and I had. I've just had my first experience with Downey Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning, and I must say that I am very pleased!
They were able to see me at a time where the temperature was extremely hot, and most of the other A/C companies were too busy.
The tech that came was Ezequiel Rivero, and he was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. He really knows his stuff and probably could teach air conditioning classes if he wanted too. He knew exactly what the problem was that was preventing my outside unit from kicking on. He had the problem fixed within an hour, but he gave me great advice to have the fan motor replaced as well so as to minimize he chance of the unit going out again. I am glad I had him do it since now I can have peace mind as we continue to use our A/C.
He then checked all the air output at all the vent registers throughout the house to ensure that the air had the proper temps coming out after the repairs. This guy is good and thorough.
As for the cost of all the services, it wasn't cheap, but the quality of work was worth it. As they say, You get what you pay for.
I now have a new A/C company (Downey Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning) to call for any issue.

They came to fix a SIMPLE Floor Heater problem that they once fixed before. All of a sudden it's a MAJOR PROBLEM and they gotta get a specialist??? Then wanted to charge some crazy price JUST FOR COMING OUT....So we CANCELED. We called another plumber who only charged $75!!! It's a total surprise this company has a STATE LICENSE! Here's my advice....BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY and GET A SECOND OPINION FROM ANOTHER COMPANY!!!
I have been dealing with Downey Plumbing and Heating & Air Conditioning company for the last 15 years or so and their technicians are very knowledgeable in their craft. My AC went out on me July 11th, 2023 and Juan showed up to diagnose the issue and as the AC ran....the fan just kept shutting off.
-- Now this unit is an old 5 ton Westinghouse and was installed at my home in the early 1970's so it had run its course. Juan suggested for me to replace the unit because it would be hard just to track/obtain replacement parts for this 53 year old unit. He stated that they have financing plans to pay for it which it is a service they provide; well I had no idea this was available or possible and took his suggestion. He gave me a quote for a new 5 ton AC unit and alerted the office that I would be coming in to do the paper work. Showed up to the office early next day and within 30 minutes I was good to go.
On July 18th the new 5 ton AC unit arrived and Juan and Jonathan were ready for the 2 day install.....I can tell you that these two guys were in sync with a perfectly executable plan to remove the old and to put the new one in within the promised 2 day work to which those days were at 92+ degrees outside so you can imagine how hot the attic was.
My wife and I are very pleased with reaping the benefits of coolness now thanks to Juan and Jonathans awesome work. I highly recommend this business to anyone looking for great service.
P.S. my in-laws and sister in-law use them too and are quite happy with their service.
We had a small slab leak and Frank and Anthony did a fantastic job on the repair work. They were professional and courteous. We were concerned about dust spreading throughout the room so they put up plastic sheeting to minimize the dust. They also secured paper on the rest of the flooring to protect it from their equipment. We appreciated their efforts to minimize the post-cleanup. We will definitely use Downey Plumbing again in the future.
Our brand new dryer didn't seem to be drying and the gas man just said call a plumber. Justin was awesome! He went above and beyond trying to figure out what the problem was. He took care of everything and was very patient with all my questions and concerns. My brand new dryer works like a champ now!
I recently had three hot water heaters in a 3 unit apartment complex give out.....they were just old. Wasn't sure who to call so I called Downy Plumbing based on Yelp reviews and the fact that they sent someone out SAME DAY. The young man who came to look at the situation as well as install 3 new water heaters went above and beyond my expectations. He was professional, accurate, thorough and was willing to work with my timeline. His name was Roman and I would highly recommend trying to contact this guy in particular if you ever need a plumbing job done. He was so conscientious you just can't find guys like this very often. He answered every question thoroughly, was friendly, courteous and worked hard. This place just got a permanent new customer as long as they keep Roman.

I called five HVAC businesses who service Downey.
Four charge a diagnosis fee between $69 and $99 that is credited toward repair.
Downey Plumbing Heating & AC charges $120 and does not credit that towards repair.

Several years ago I signed up for plumbing insurance through my water company. Downey Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning is who the insurance uses. Downey has been out to fix problems a number of times. They are professional and reliable. I've been very happy with their work.
If you use this company, ask for Kevin to do your work. He goes the extra mile to make sure the customer is satisfied.
Joseph's response sounds like the job was done as agreed and a hefty amount was refunded and everyone is happy now. I will correct the fact without exaggeration.
I have confirmed with my tenant that the job was not pre-quoted. The plumber called somewhere after the job and said $555, my tenant was shocked then the guy said it's expensive because it was on a weekend and offered $20 discount. There was NO PRE-QUOTE.
After a call with Joseph, he listened and offered $50 refund. It's free money so why not? But that still doesn't justify $485 rate.
Now I did my google research and think the acceptable fee would be $250 and perhaps $50-75 extra for weekend = $300 ~ $325 total.
I do appreciate Joseph's gesture to refund 10% but his response on satisfaction isn't just correct.

I made an appointment and they gav. me a 4-hour window which would be 3 to 7. At 3:35 my phone shows that they left a voice mail while I was working stating that they had made two attempts and nobody was home. I know my husband left work early to be there. Then they called at 4:25 to see if someone was at home so they could send someone out. (4:30 starts their overtime pay). I saw the messages and cancelled the order.
$600 wasted. Company sounded great because they have a 90 day guarantee. Technicians arrived at my home, I explained We were having an issue with one toilet. The technicians advised that the issue was with both toilets and it was a mainline. They ended up removing the toilet that we didn't have an issue with Clearing out the mainline, and leaving. They left a huge mess, and were dripping toilet water from their tools all around my home. I didn't make a big deal about it since they advised the problem was fixed. 4 days later the problem happened again. Our toilet was still backing up and not flushing every time. Some times it was fine but most times we had to use a plunger. So I called them back. They advised me that if the issue was different than what was originally called about, there would be a $75 fee. I Did not worry about this since I was 100% sure it was due to the original problem. when they arrived they advise that nothing was wrong. I explain that it's not every single time that the toilet backs up but most times it does and we have to use the plunger. Since it wasn't doing it at that exact moment they weren't able to do anything for me. So I paid the $75 and they left. Today, my restroom is completely flooded my sink is also flooded in my kitchen and the water is not going down. I called them to let them know that I'm within my 90 days and I'm having a huge issue at my home with flooding. They advised that since they came out a second time already the guarantee has been fulfilled and no longer valid. This call would be considered a whole new issue. I know that it's not a whole new issue. This is the same issue I was having when I originally called them. Completely unprofessional over the phone, So my family is out of money and now I have to deal with having to fix my home and this flooding and still fix the issue of why my toilets are backing up. I Do not recommend this company.
Thank you Downey Plumbing for a superb job led by Clay Prats. It is impossible to put into words how wonderful it was to work with Clay, Eliseo Diaz and Johnathon Santana. They were all very professional, conscientious, polite and very patient with my questions. They cleaned up the area every day before they left. It was a huge job, 220' to be exact and uphill. Clay and his team had to work with hard clay soil, tree roots and managed to spare my sprinkler pipes. They couldn't have been more pleasant, always smiling. I will highly recommend Downey Plumbing and will be calling with any future plumbing problems. Hopefully I'll be able to get Clay and his team. Thank you, job well done young men, you were superb!!!

I belong to this home warrenty service that i pay every month for.So my water heater was not working and i had no hot water,it was to cold to take a shower.So i called my home warrenty service to come and check my water heater.Well they said they will come next wedsday from 2:00pm too 4:00pm.I ask them if they could come any time sooner because we have no hot water in the house.They said no and that they were sorry.Well i called downey plumbing which i have called before and they said yes they could come the next day.Well they came and found that all i needed was to light the pilot light.And they checked everything else to make sure everything was working ok.Now we have hot water and we can take our showers now with comfort.Thank you downey plumbing for being there when we needed you.
I had a major water leak a few weeks ago. Luckily, Downey Plumbing was the only company who was able to send someone out within a reasonable time frame.
The technician Tomas who serviced my home was very professional. Despite the unpleasant weather he was quick and efficient. I could tell he knew exactly what he was doing. He provided great customer service & took the time to address all my questions/concerns. He even followed the CDC GUIDELINES FOR COVID-19!
I truly appreciate the attentiveness in resolving my plumbing issues.

I have a leaky shower head. Since I purchased HomeServe insurance, I decided to make a service request through the insurance, and they dispatched Rodrigo to come to my home. When I made the service call I mentioned that I recently changed the shower cartridge and shower head in an attempt to repair the leak. When Rodrigo came he took a few seconds to turn on and off the shower knob, then proceeded to tell me that the leak was due to the shower cartridge not being tightened up. He did not take apart the knob to inspect the cartridge before arriving at that conclusion. He only knew about the cartridge replacement through the insurance company. He informed me that the insurance would not cover the cost if it was not related to the pipe. Just by the quick visual inspection he was confident about it. He then proceeded by telling me that he could charge me $142 just to perform the diagnostic. Why would he need the diagnostic if he was certain of the cause? I could just tighten up the cartridge myself. Furthermore, it makes no sense to just pay for the diagnostic and additional charges for the repair. He did not offer to deduct the diagnostic cost from the repair if I chose to hire him for the repair. It was a horrible experience, consisting I took the day off to accommodate the appointment.
Update on 9/8/2021: I stand by my review. I absolutely understand the nuisance of the insurance policies, and that it is beyond the control of the vendor contracted by the insurance company. Thus, I am not frustrated by the fact that Rodrigo could not perform the necessary repair under the policy. My frustration is that Rodrigo simply informed me that I could pay him the $142, and I quote to take a look at it. It is logical to interpret it as a diagnostic since he did not take the time to clarify that the quote would entail taking the installation apart, reassemble, or perform the necessary repair to stop the leak. There was no explanation whatsoever. The is no misunderstanding or miscommunication here, make no mistake. Had Rodrigo taken the time to explain the quote, I would not have felt so disappointed.
It is appalling that the owner disguised the issue here as mere misunderstanding, rather than apologizing for how Rodrigo approached the task. Please take the owner's response with a grain of salt.

Made for along day. I called on a Tuesday for a Thursday appointment to service my floor heater that stopped working. I was given a 2:00-6:00pm window. At 5:00 I called to see if someone was still coming out and was told that I was next on the list. Then I got a call at 5:35 to say the technician was on his was. At 7:30 he had not shown up. So I called it a day. Shortly after, I got a call from the technician to say he was on his way. He showed up at 8:20 and was able to fix the problem. Fortunately, it was only a broken thermostat. Very frustrating though, to spend my day waiting. But at least the problem was taken care of.
They did a great job at my house and JT was especially helpful. I would definitely recommend them if you have any plumbing issues.

I was given Downey Plumbing & Heating from an insurance coverage I have through my water company. What started out as a seemingly simple fix turned into a total nightmare! The inability to diagnose and solve the problem was outrageous! They came for nine visits for the same problem, NINE. Each visit required another piece of equipment they didn't have and had to return the following day. They cut into inside walls and then decided they needed to cut into my outside stucco to access the stoppage. They did and still could not resolve the issue. Then after trying various snakes it was decided they needed to use the hydro-jet. That only pushed the stoppage into two shower areas. That is what they said. Then they felt they needed to cut the tiles in one of the showers to access the clogged pipe. This was the ninth visit. I asked if that was a guarantee fix. They said, No, but that is where we think the problem is. At this point I said NO. Asked them to clean up the mess and I would decide. In the meantime I called my Realtor who gave me the name of a plumber she uses. He came last Friday and in two hours everything was back to normal and draining perfectly. It cost me $200.00 to repair the stucco and $425.00 for the new plumber to resolve the issue.

I have had Downey out for service calls to my older property dozens of times. They have never disappointed me. Today Orlando went above and beyond the call of duty for me. I contacted Downey Plumbing the first week of January to get a bid on bringing a water heater up to code. The man I spoke to said that he would take a look at it and call me back with a bid. I received no call, but on January 15 I received a written bid for $1877.00 to replace the water heater and bring the rest of the plumbing up to code. I called the office and told the woman I spoke with that I never mentioned replacing the existing water heater and that I wanted a bid on bringing the existing one up to code. She had the man who went out originally call me back and I reiterated what I wanted. He said that he didn't need to go back and that he would call back with a new bid. He never did, nor did the owner call, as the receptionist had said during my second call.

We recently had our HVAC replaced by Downey Plumbing, Heating & AC, and are very pleased with the entire installation process. That didn't surprise us as we have been using Downey for decades and have always been satisfied with their work.
Eric and Isaac did a great job. They were respectful, pleasant, professional, diligent, meticulous and always left the house clean at night (it was a 3+ day job).

Had 2 plumbers come and not be able to unclog my drains, wanted to charge 2500 to cut into walls to unclog. Then called Downey plumbing and the technician Ramon came and was very professional and uncloged the drain in no time without cutting into walls. Clay and his team did a great job with my backed up sewer line. The work was hassle free and all done from the outside of my home. The team communicated well and was on-time as promised. They worked tirelessly to unclog the system and provide a 90-day warranty on the work. Clay was very professional and had the standard Covid-19 safety precautions in place.

Stay away from this company, they're just after your money. Amateur plumbers sent twice to my home and claimed to need a $2k plus repair. Of course I wasn't going to budge so I hired another plumber with great reviews and found out that problem was minor and totally different than what Downey Plumbers detected. I saved myself $1500!
Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere!
My insurance company sent Downey Plumbing to repair a leak, the technician arrived within the hour and told me I had 2 feet of water under my house that must be extracted before he could fix the leak. I called a company called Dry Down and their technician arrived within the hour and after going under my house he also told me I had 2 feet of water under my house that had to be removed immediately and be inspected for mold. He quoted me $3000 to remove the water and place fans under the house to dry the dirt, after the technician left I called another plumber. He arrived later in the afternoon and repaired the leak in a hour, there was no standing water and he charged me $250 to repair the leak. I believe Downey Plumbing and Dry Down work together to rip off customers and Insurance Companies, always get other opinions especially if you call Downey Plumbing.

Marcus from Downey Plumbing and Heating was just in my home to clear a drain in my bathtub. What a nice, polite young man ! He was extremely efficient without being aggressive. Thank you. The drain now works like it was new.
First off, Downey doesn't usually cover the west Los Angeles area. they came out because the insurance company booked them. I am very glad they did come out.
JT and Javier were truly lifesavers as we experienced a gas shutoff from the Gas Co because of a gas leak. They came out and provided an estimate to the insurance company and all parties agreed to begin repairs first thing the next day. Throughout the whole experience, they were professional, punctual, very communicative, and answered all the questions we had about the repairs. They really went above and beyond in getting us an answer for our specific situation, as well as making sure that all of our problems were resolved.
I was in need of a new toilet since cracks were appearing and spreading, which is pretty scary. I called Downey Plumbing at about 12:00pm on a Thursday, was told they could have someone out for an estimate between 1-5pm. Shortly after 1pm, Joshua arrived and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He provided an estimate and alternatives, I agreed, and by 3pm I had a brand new shiny Kohler toilet installed and ready to use. Joshua answered all my questions, checked a couple of other areas I had concerns about, and explained everything thoroughly and kindly.
I have had Downey Plumbing out several times over the years for plumbing issues, and have never been disappointed. Always great work, and special thanks to Joshua for the latest much-needed throne! :-)

Let's see, my previous review of this company was deleted. But my review of this company is factual as I had personally made contact with the company. My sister had obtained an estimate to replace an outside condenser and inside coil for their central AC, but she did not understand the estimate. I called this company and spoke with Jose on May 1, 2017 and he clarified the estimate and I said I would let him know about proceeding. I didn't think this company should be contracted as they repaired the central AC the previous summer and it already stopped working, blowing hot air. I also told Jose this. I obtained several other estimates, both higher and lower than theirs. My sister called them back and requested a Saturday install. The customer service rep said the estimate would have to be adjusted to a Saturday rate. Since the original estimate was not honored, I chose not to go with this company.
Despite what this business owner has to say, I was the decision maker and not a third party. I spoke with this company and told them the work they did a year again failed. I am the one who decided not to go with this company. Nor should you.

HIRE A LAWYER before you do business with Downey Plumbing. Just like Stephanie B noted here (3/1/23), as well as several others that were Force-fed this company by the insurance company... I would never call Downey Plumbing for a plumbing issue. However, HomeServe (insurance through So Cal Gas & California Water Company) uses them for claims. It was like dealing with the mob.... First of all they REFUSE to do any Claims work on weekends... in my case FOUR WEEKENDS IN A ROW... (And YES I have the documentation to prove it) My hot water was not working for a MONTH... Then they tried to charge me over $1200 for a 1-foot x 4-foot piece of concrete that they had to fill -in, it's LITERALLY 4-SQUARE FEET of cement - SEE THE PICTURES... AND they made NO attempt to match the color) as I tried to reason with them about the EXTREME BS charges - THEY SENT IT TO A COLLECTION AGENCY, and I will be hiring a lawyer... Who would have thought that HIRING A LAWYER WOULD BE CHEAPER THAN HIRING DOWNEY PLUMBING? Secondly - their work is ALREADY RUSTING.... (See picture of rusted pipes they installed & the $1200 cement job)
***ALSO - They VIOLATED CAL STATE LAW by NOT providing a WRITTEN ESTIMATE, and told me Not to worry about it as the Insurance company is paying for it & then try to STICK ME WITH A RIDICULOUS EXTORTION for OVERAGES that I never was given a written estimate for... so then they sent it to COLLECTION AGENCY...
I had a pipe leak and Downey plumbing came to the rescue. Roman and Alicia were my plumbers and they quickly figured out the problem and fixed it right away. They showed up the same day and fixed it that same day. They informed me what they were doing the whole time and were very helpful in answering a bunch of my questions. Excellent customer service!
Great job well done . Didn't take very long to unplug the main line . The two young men Marcus and John did great job , clean with no mess and very polite . I truly would recommend them to anyone else in an emergency to unplug any line .

Had a plumbing issue that I needed a pipe unclogged on my toilet. Joseph Ramirez and Marcus Hernandez came out and were very professional and listened to my Mom's issues . Hired Downey Plumbing to help me with an improperly installed stove that came with my new home and I'm glad I did!
They sent Tyler, who was friendly, professional and SKILLED!
Using simple terms Tyler explained what was happening, what he'd do to fix it, and how much it would cost. He worked quickly but carefully, even swept up the dust under my stove before considering the job done.
I will absolutely recommend Downey Plumbing and specifically Tyler P. to my friends and family.
In the past two years of homeownership, I've had quite a few service people visit. To date, Tyler was hands-down the best and I'm thankful.

Called them to look at my heater which was giving me some issues. Tech came in took a look and after some testing told me that it was the controller board, I then asked him how much this would cost me? He said $650! Because I had no choice I them made appt for Friday, that way I would have the money. The next day something told me just to investigate the pricing. I got my model # and Serial # and found the part I needed for $63! The heater is made by Goodman, called their office and found out the part was still under warranty! So I took this part off while taking a lot of pictures to make sure I could put it back together. Drove to Goodman in Long Beach pick up the part and installed it myself, minus the drive for the free part it took me no longer then 30 mins to take off and put back on. Just in case you weren't paying attention that would have been $21.66 per minute charged by Downey plumbing. I called and canceled service. I also asked to speak to the owner, on a good note he called me back and told me that the tech should have checked to see if the part was under warranty and apologized. As for the pricing for the service he told me it was justified. What do you think?

So I have had my toilet for 4 years no problems and one day the water won't stop running so I called these guys despite there $105 charge just to come out and see what the problem is I figured if they're charging that much just to come out they must know what they're doing boy was I wrong ... So he changed a part inside the back of the toilet a gasket or something to keep the water from running and wouldn't u know it 6 months later same problem !!
I called them spoke to the girl Who answered the phone and she said there's only 90 days warranty and I said what if the part is still good and your guy didn't know how to install it right ? I'm sure a toilet part last more than six months The first one that was in there lasted four years so she wanted to talk to her boss and came back and said I don't know but anyway we only give 90 day warranty . Save your money people look for someone who will stand behind their work !!
While the comment by Joseph is acting like they were trying to resolve the issue, the person at my house could have cared a less. While the owner laughed in my face while I was trying to explain the situation. I would not have made several phone calls and a trip to the office if I was making this up. Yes, I asked them to leave because I didn't feel a good job would be done.
Upon the review being read by the company I finally got the call i waited foe and resolution.

Downey plumbing fixed my problem right away. I have been using Downey plumbing for over 8 years and not once did I have a problem. The Plumber Mr. Justin Gonzales was very professional and courteous he made sure every running water was good to go before leaving and reassuring that I would not have a problem after he was gone. Thank You Mr. Justin Gonzales is also a very respectful young man.
We have been using Downey Plumbing for years, because they are awesome! They are fast, efficient and most of all friendly. The work is great and customer service is stellar! Only one time have we asked them to re-check work they had done and they fixed the problem immediately. We recommend them highly!
Had a great experience with Downey Plumbing yet again! They replaced my HVAC System and water heater .... and found and repaired a leak under my kitchen sink flooring. Tyler and Rodrigo spent several days on the job and were awesome. Both were professional and personable and their work was stellar. Everything that was promised was delivered...and more. Mary answered the phone when I called she said for them to come out there is a charge of a $100 regardless of anything so the second they walk in they want the $100 even if they dont do anything.
I told her i will give them a chance to take a free look and provide an estimate but she was not interested.
That kinda worries me if they are not even willing to take a look at the job and provide an estimate. Who knows if you hire them you could be looking at a very large tab.

We have had lots of plumbers for various jobs in the past and these guys are the best. They installed a new water heater tank and responded to our call right away. Jay was particularly meticulous in his work quality and explained what he was going to do. He only replaced what was worn or necessary like the code stuff to minimize costs during the instal.

Gas company determined there were multiple gas leaks they were not able to identify. Had no choice but to shut off gas. HomeServe contracted Downey plumbing. Rodrigo came same day was able to locate another leak. He came back to review further with Alicia next business day. They found multiple gas leaks under the house. After approval an appt was scheduled next business day. Rodrigo and Alicia came back replaced pipes that distributed gas inside the house. They were determined to get gas inside the house, which they delivered. Day two was to finish up and fix the gas line to the dryer in the garage. Very happy with the job. Highly recommend them.

Tyler was our technician who came out to take a look at our water heater. Being unfamiliar with a water heater, he took the time to explain the issue and provided recommendations. It's extremely helpful when a technician explains the issues in layman's terms and Tyler did a fantastic job. Due to all the wind we've been having and needing to leave the door to our water heater open, the hinges came out. Tyler was kind enough to come out during his busy day and screw the door back into place for us. I can't thank him enough for all his help!

Two Words Amateur Plumbers this kid had to return several days later to repair a water leak. My counters were damaged and they didn't seem to care either. It's a shame. This company was decent in the past years. I should've called Norwalk La Mirada plumbing. Instead I called Downey plumbing. Never again. To top it off they audacity to ask for a 5 star review on yelp. REALLY ?!!!!
I had to use this company in the past because of my insurance (i.e. the insurance has a contract with them). I had such a bad experience, a terrible one indeed, with them, that I asked the insurance to NEVER send them again. However, I had an emergency last week and because of situation I accepted them. My experience with the company again confirmed by previous opinion (a very negative one).
I would avoid them at all cost.

Santiago arrived on time and diagnosed our plumbing problem immediately.
He took extra special care to be very careful moving the big ole rooter unit in and out of our home, leaving no scratches or marks on the carpet or flooring.
He unclogged the sewer line, got rid of the crud and reset the toilet with a brand new seal in less than forty-five minutes, then went to the kitchen sink and had the old corroded faucet/sprayer unit out and replaced in less than thirty minutes.
Best part of all, he had a great attitude and no plumber crack approach.
Instead he worked like a skilled tradesman, which is a great plus as I hate dealing with the Larry the Cable Guy types.
He had all the parts he needed, solved problems instead of complaining about them and he was pleasant to be around.
Price was reasonable too.
It doesn't get much better than that, folks.
If you have a plumbing crisis, call Downey Plumbing, you will be glad you did.

We had a shower head leak and Marcus and Will from Downey Plumbing showed up with masks and shoe covering booties and went right to work. They showed up when they said they would and diagnosed the problem right away and fixed the leak pretty fast. We are very happy with their service and would hire them again should we have more plumbing issues in the future. They were courteous and professional.
Clay pratt is very professional and honest.i will recommend and call them again for ac my ac Repair and service.
We just had Samuel and Steve at our house to fix a water leak in our kitchen ceiling. When we first noticed the leak, we thought it was a water pipe in our upstairs bathroom that was causing the leak. However Samuel and Steve checked our water meter and said that we were not losing water and they concluded that it was the wax toilet seal that was leaking. They installed a new toilet seal and did a great job. They were very professional and did a fantastic job.
I live in Carson, that being said plumber's are at our home at least two to three times a year. This time we were sent Downey Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning, our technical was Jose. He was awesome. Jose came in would not stop looking for the problem until he found it in the wall. Jose got approval and repaired the broken pipe, he did it in record time and was professional. He was very knowledgeable of his work. He made sure his work area was clean inside and out.

We had beeeeen trying to get my mom to get central air and heating (HVAC system)...at least an updated one. Finally, she relented and called Cal Water to inquire about her home warranty on the AC and heating. She needed the AC fixed before that trusty California heat hit. Cal Water uses Downey Plumbing for plumbing and HVAC. They sent a work order to Downey Plumbing who contacted my mom to set up a time to come and assess her system. Upon assessment, they advised her that the system she had was too old...it had been installed a year after I graduated from high school! Yikes! Definitely time for a new system. Unfortunately, Cal Water only covered repairs, not a replacement system.
My mom decided to go on and have the whole thing replaced. Juan, the installer came out on 03/03 and 03/04 to replace the system. They were originally scheduled to come a day earlier, but due to a family emergency, they needed to reschedule. They were very professional and let us know ahead of time, which was not a problem, at all. They came on time over a two day period. They installed the heater first on Tuesday and then came on Wednesday to install the AC. Each day, they said what they were working on and after installation, they went through the whole system to make sure that she understood everything.
She's very pleased with the results and they also cleaned up everything after they finished. This was a fantastic company to work with!

On behalf of my parents we wanted to leave this comment as they don't use the internet much. We needed some work done to our home. Downey Plumbing sent out a technician named Frank M. We just wanted to thank him for the outstanding service. We wanted to start off by saying that first impressions really do matter. He walked up and immediately his tone was soft, kind and caring. He was very knowledgeable. There were things I didn't understand completely and he was able to break it down and translate every step of the way to my parents who only speak Spanish. He was efficient and left no mess behind which was a plus! We will be sure to recommend DP to our friends and family! Thank you!
I have had Downey plumbing come out twice to my house. Since i have insurance on my plumbing for the house i decided to call them when I noticed my water pressure was low. the gentleman who came was honest and helpful he told basically I needed a re-pipping for the house and since I don't have thousands of dollars just laying around I told him thanks..
A month later I come home and there is no water in the house.. I call my insurance company who contacts Downey plumbing to come out because they are 24hours.. Eric comes out.. At first he seems less friendly however very professional. Eric explained the problem and told me the house needed to be re-pipped because this was an emergency the insurance company will cover some of the work.. Eric scheduled a day for the re-pipping and told me they would not leave until I had water. The day of the pipping I had 8 men in my house these men were straight down to business professional clean and reassuring. I mean these mean even vacuumed and mopped once they completed the job.. One was even scrubbing and wiping the porch down. Eric came that morning explained the process again and told me he will not accept payment until I was fully satisfied. I called over 3 plumber before I decided to go with Downey. Downey offered a 25 years warranty on the pipes, a 5 year for labor and shut of valves and the company even replaced things I didn't know was broken! The head guy over the project even walked me around to make sure I was okay with the work at the end. Eric came back the next day to do a follow up and to double check the work!!!! The only compliant I have if I had to make one was the receptionist.. She was not the most friendlinest. I missed her call because I was at work.. Called her right back and she got a little smart with me.. I was like really lady calm down..
Both our bathrooms toilets and showers stopped up today. Called Downey Plumbing ( have used them for over 30 years). Marcos and his assistant showed up on time. Did a great job while explaining problem .Great work reasonable price! I highly recommend Downey Plumbing Heating and Air.

WOW! My mom had a cracked pipe, Downey Plumbing showed up and took all of our worries away. They went right to work when they arrived, found the problem and came back the next day and fixed it. Tue-One tech showed up at right time, 5 min, he said pilot out, he relighted it. Everything is back to normal. I felt great.. and ....
Thu-No hot water again!!! Pilot out again!!! I phoned them. A guy named Marco seems the owner or manager said Oh your GE gas heater has bad reputation for the thermocouple... Come on, If you know that, why cant your tech checked the thermocouple on Mon to make sure it is normal before he left? Do not you know you can use meter to test?
Fri-Another tech showed up and said that thermocouple is bad, he ordered replacement part through overnight shipment. call them once it arrives. I asked whether he has tracking #. the answer is 'NO'. CAN YOU GO TO HOMEDEPOT TO GET AN UNIVERSAL PART?
Sat-no arrival. No hot water at home.
Sun-no hot water.
Next Mon-called them. They said Oh, this part should arrive later today...call them when it arrives... At 2:30 PM, my son went home and found the delivered part. I called them again and they arrange to be on site from 3:30-7:30 PM. I told them I was still working, PLEASE give me heads up so that I could leave my office. At 4:30 pm, my son called me saying a tech fixed and left even without a customer copy!!!!

The afternoon before, our water heater went out and we couldn't get the pilot light to come on. Now we've really had some crackerjack characters called rooters or plumbers come out over the years, really gets old. The next morning, for some strong notion and thought, I called Downey plumbing heating & air conditioning. They showed up in twenty minutes to do a diagnostic overview of my heater. The heater water chamber was shot and about four items were below code. Frank and George came up with a recommended heater, and a permanent cure to get everything up to code and additional extended maintenance warranty to boot. Within afew minutes, my wife and myself were offered a quote that we both said yes to, with no discussion. Frank & George, took care of everything and that quote included hauling away the old heater and did a nice cleanup effort. These guys and their company are in sync with each other: very polite, well mannered, work habits showed a sign of professional training & skill for what they did for us, our home, they have earned our trust. For sure, we will be calling on you!

We have always called Downey Plumbing & Heating for our plumbing needs. We have been using them for years.
The technician, JT, who come out today was every polite and professional. He was able to complete the job in one visit.

My home warranty service called them on Friday. They showed up and said the water heater was still under warranty and they would get the part to fix it. On Tuesday P.M they let me know that the part will take one week to come from Rheem (the water heater manufacturer) and rather than have me suffer without any hot water, they will instead install a new water heater.
I called another plumber who is not part of the home warranty program, he came and fixed the problem in one hour and charged me $280.
These people are dishonest and they made me suffer with no hot water. Cheats and liars who don't care about their customers well being, only stealing their money!

Our company (M.H. Powell & Co., Inc.) has been going to Downey Plumbing for years for our A/C needs. Just recently-this Summer, our furnace, and central A/C unit broke in the middle of the heatwave. We reached out to Downey Plumbing, and Paloma, who answered the phone was very helpful and friendly. She was able to get a technician out to our office the same day! Their quick responsiveness to our situation was greatly appreciated during those hot Summer months. As far as the technician, he was also very friendly and troubleshot our problem fast. I don't recommend this company. I don't know if it was that one of the two guys who came out was bragging that they usually work in houses in Laguna Hills ( we are in Los Angeles) or if it was the fact that they refused to come back out at 11 pm after they caused a LEAK and flood In our bathroom from the toilet they had removed and worked on for hours just two hours before the leak. Marcus demanded a $180.00 overtime fee to come back out and fix the issue they caused. After accusing me of lying about realizing the leak he still demanded we pay him after just paying the company $2,000.00. Poor customer service. Lack of empathy and BAD BUSINESS. CALL SOMEONE ELSE.
Customer service is great! From the women who scheduled appointment when I called to the technician Juan who fixed my AC unit.
He came assessed and fixed the issue quickly. Didn't try to get me to purchase parts I didn't need. Juan was knowledgeable and professional.

After making an appointment with Downey Plumbing and Heating, a tech arrived a the time frame I was given. Friendly Tech name Marcos was able to look at our ancient heater and after some inspection/diagnostics concluded that it was our ancient thermostat that needed to be replaced. He even spoke with my husband over the phone to explain the issue. Prices are good and services was great. Highly Recommend.
When one of my kitchen faucets started leaking, I had high hopes of fixing it myself.
Weeks went by and I never fixed it. I quit using that sink and it stopped dripping for the most part, but then I knew that wasn't the right thing to do. Lol.
On a hunch, I figured the valves needed replacing. So I checked it out myself, but then when I looked online at what Home Depot and Lowes and a couple of other places had for new valves, I got discouraged.
So while my girls were in the online portion of their hybrid classes during COVID-19 on 4/23/21, I made a call at 12:23 to the first local plumber that showed up in my Yelp app... Downey Plumbing.
I didn't even realize until after I hired them that they offered a pretty sweet Yelp deal: $100 for $150.
Marcus and his helper, Will, showed up a little before 2PM. They left to get parts from their warehouse for a short while, then came back to make the repair and ensure the leak was nonexistent. The duo left by 3:30PM.
They wore shoe covers every time they came in and of course masks.
Labor was $120 per hour for which I was charged only one. The two valves came out to $36 as I requested for both the hot and cold sides to be changed. There was a lot of calcium and lime, etc. built up. After using the Yelp deal via my mobile, my ending total was $9.60.
Pretty dang competitive if you ask me AND I'm more than happy to support FAMILY-OWNED, LOCAL businesses especially during a pandemic.
Thanks Downey Plumbing and please don't ever sell out to a bigger company!

The response time is great. Downey plumbing comes at the time he promised to show up. Service technician is great and got the job done quickly. The only problem I had is the price. The price is rather high. I understand it's hard to find someone to fix AC problem on a Sunday during Labor Day weekend but it would be nice to let customer know what the inspection rate is going to be beforehand. That is why it loses two stars.
I want to thank this company for all that they do for our property management company. We can always depend on them for many task to have that strong assurance that the problem is solved completely. I like to recognize & super highly recommend a specific Plumber/ Tech.
Tyler @ Downey Plumbing he has a very nice & welcoming approach in his appearance. Is has a dedication & pride in his work. Especially with Tankless water heaters. Communication is gold with him. I had two major problems gas leaf that gas company closed our line until we got it fixed. With in the same day Clay from Downey plumbing came to the rescue they replaced gas line going to pool heater it was a major joke because they had to cut through cement. They got the job done same day. Clay is a honest, hard worker and extremely Knowledgeable professional.
The following week I'm renovating a bath room and water is extremely low to the point we could not shower. The guy that renovating said it's your water pressure. So I called Downey plumbing and Clay he found the issue old broken Galvanized pipes and had to replaced the whole main line. Now we have clear extremely pressure water amazing job all in one day

The technician, Frank, notified me about his arrival time and showed promptly. He assessed the issue then explained to me the work he was going to do. Frank provided professional service, worked efficiently and maintained a clean workspace. Have not had a problem ever since! Great company, highly recommended.

The worst customer service ever. They came to my home
For an HVAC estimate and they said they would send me an estimate in a few hours. The day came and went and nothing. Then I called after 3 days and they said they were still working on it and they would call me back, day came and went and nothing. I called back the following day and again they said they would call me asap. It's been 7 days now and nothing. Obviously going elsewhere.
I called Downey Plumbing based on a friend's referral to repair my heater. Sadly, I was very disappointed. The service guy immediately diagnosed it was the ignition control module and said it would be $150 and left to purchase the part and upon his return quoted $400. He changed the part and the heater still did not work, then he said it was the gas valve with the solinoid and that would be an additional $300, or $2500 for a new system. We asked him to put old part back in and leave a quote and we would considerate. He was bothered by it and said the bill was $200. I refused to pay it, i was quoted $98 for the service call and would not pay anything else.
1/15/2013 I received calls and emails from the owner apologizing they were unable to help repair the unit and for the way the service call was handled and mailed me a refund check. The money is good, just wish they could have helped with the repair. I respect the fact that they made no excuses and valued how I felt I had been treated. Thank you Joe.
Not to long ago, we thought we had a sprinkler problem & as it turned out... it was a plumbing problem, so we called Downey Plumbing & Heating. Their quote was reasonable as always so again we went with them,(occasionally we do get other quotes to make sure we are getting a good value).
Can't say enough good things about everyone who shows up for whatever need we have. They are respectful, and always do a great job!
What a team effort starting with my first call to your business when I spoke to Mary. I told her my problem. She is friendly, professional, and efficient. I was quoted charges. She gave me a four-hour window. My story continues to be impressive. I called in the afternoon to be made the latest possible appointment as I had to take my niece to the Long Beach Airport. The next morning I spoke to Cathy to verify my changes. I got a second call to secure a good time. Luckily, I could be home in 10 minutes and get a wonderful appointment with Anthony and his apprentice. I explained the problem and they got equipment to start clearing my pipes, which ultimately needed stronger equipment. Anthony explained the new applicable charges and in a few minutes he had success. We all had success. Please thank Anthony for his time, knowledge and service. Thank you for your time.

I definitely WOULD NOT use Downey Plumbing Heating and AIr Conditioning. My elderly mother who lives in Downey has used them before and feels a certain loyalty to Downey businesses. She called them recently to check her air conditioning and a shower faucet that was stuck. The service man told her that she needed an new AC compressor which they could install for $3,000. He told her if she waited it could cost her $10,000 because the technology is changing and they would have to change a lot of parts. For the shower faucet he said they would have to go through the back wall to fix it. It would cost around $400, but there would be a hole in the wall that would need to be repaired. He told her that if she purchased the AC compressor immediately they would do the shower repair for free.
We called another company who came out immediately. They said the AC compressor was fine, could last for several more years, and to change it when it went out. They fixed the faucet by simply replacing it. They didn't have to break into the wall at all. The total charge for everything (including the service call) was $150.
When Downey Plumbing called later to ask my mother if she wanted to do all the work they quoted, she complained, explaining what had happened. They responded by telling her they would send her a bill for the service call.
I feel bad for the senior citizens and others this company is exploiting.

BEWARE! THEY ARE PREDATORS!
Too bad the minimum is 1 star, I'd like to give them zero.
Called for a wall heater repair in one of my units. Technician installed a control module (according to the invoice) and left without making sure heater was working. I called them back complaining that they had installed a part but the heater was still nonfunctional.
Instead of returning, a couple of days later I received a bill in the mail for over $300.
I called them again and told them I would not pay unless they came back to fix the problem. Next thing I know, they have sent me to collections and I have a negative score on my credit.
Ended up fixing it myself less than $100. The part they had installed was faulty.
Now I have a hit on my credit score.

I had a leak on my main water line, I called on a holiday weekend and they responded right away. A Gentleman name Roman showed up and could not be more professional or understanding. Roman took care of my problem very quickly and cleaned up like wasn't even there.

This company does excellent work. I had a clogged sewer line and they responded at 8 pm and worked through a very difficult issue until it was resolved. Also of special note is that their technician named Alex is an exceptional representative. Alex has great communication skills, is committed to a high standard of work and is the type of plumber anyone would want. You cant miss by using this company.
Have gotten quick responses at a reasonable prices.

Alex came to our home to help us clear our clogged up drains in 3 bathrooms today, and he was very professional and efficient. After patiently listening to my description of the problems, he quietly took care of everything for us. I called Downey Plumbing to replace a leaky laundry room faucet and also to fix a master bath shower that was running only cold water. Tyler was my service technician and I must say his work in doing both the repairs was simply excellent and more than stellar! In no time a new faucet in the laundry room was quickly installed, after which I no longer would hear the irritating sounds of incessant dripping water. Then in the master bath Tyler expertly replaced the faucet part that got me running hot water again. I was so very happy about both the repairs! I certainly would recommend Downey Plumbing to future customers having any plumbing repair needs!
First time customer with Downy Plumbing and I think I wont be going back to my usual plumber. The friendly greeting on the phone and the quick service by a very professional gentleman, Rodrigo, I believe his name was great to start. Clogged bathroom sink no more. Downey Plumbing was a blessing to me today!
The technician came and put a metal line in the pipe and it got stuck. The technician came back a week later and cut the metal line. When we requested the technician to put a camera in the pipe to locate the exact spot the pipe is broken, the technician said that the camera is too large and would get stuck in the pipe just like the metal line so the technician estimated the spot where the pipe is broken. We hired another company to obtain a second opinion and the new company was able to insert a camera in the pipe and locate the exact location where the pipe is broken. It was 10 feet away from the spot where Downey's technician had estimated. If we let Downey perform the job, we would have had to open up a way larger hole on the floor to replace the broken pipe. Don't waste your time with Downey for plumbing and pipe issues.
We had Downey plumbing come out to repair a toilet. They examined the toilet and said that it needed numerous new internal parts and the repair would be $350. Thinking, that it would be more sensible to put in a new toilet rather than invest $350 in an old toilet, we requested an estimate for a new toilet. The estimate to install a basic round bowl Kohler toilet was $755. I know this toilet retails for less than $200. I told them that I was unwilling to pay more than $500 for the job but they would not lower the estimate. I'm taking my business elsewhere.
Was a beautiful day to walk outside to find a heavy mist coming from above my main water valve against my house.
Immediately called Downey Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning.
They sent German and Humberto. They arrived on time were very nice, courteous and friendly.
I had a different issue the first week of June regarding my toilets and Humberto was on that job and did a great job. Well this time different issue Humberto and German were great.
I am so happy with the results. They went above and beyond.

Worst company ever! They are vultures. One of their service men came over to check out my broken A/C told me I needed a new part to it, one I already had. He said it would be $3,000. I asked how much it would be if he used the part that I already had and he gave some excuse about how he couldn't use the spare one I had in the garage. So I told him to leave he then said he would do it with that part for $2,000 and it would take him 8 hours. I told him to leave and that I wouldn't let him fix it even if he were to do it for free now because I don't like to be taken for a fool. I called another company and the guy came the next day fixed it in 3 hours for $900. Wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy!
Downey Plumbing replaced about 30 feet of drain pipe,
From the washing machine and about 3 feet drain pipe that was in the wall and had to cut the outside brick and plaster.
Anthony was very professional and explained everything in detail, this helped so much because my parents are older, in there mid 80s and showed them the 60 year old pipe that was very badly corroded.
They had the outside wall all fixed and looks like it was never cut out.

We just had Downey Plumbing replace a portion of a clogged sewer line under our driveway. The work was handled by Anthony and Ricardo. Couldn't be happier. They cheerfully answered all my dumb questions and the work was done in a timely manner. Clean up went well and we were operational in a few hours. Great job, you guys.

The first time i called was on Monday, i had no gas it was turned off due to a leakage. I called this business and job was approved but not they couldn't come until Thursday ! That was disappointing. But when the guys came they are so calm and explain everything. They keep you posted on everything they do and you can even track arrival. So Tomas showed up with his partner Marcos. Both we're really nice and very professional. And the work came out great! Worth the wait! Thank you.
JT and Anthony did a great job to cut the concrete and repair the water line. They showed us the pinhole, the way they fixed it and cleaned up afterward.
They fixed the problem with my heater in a matter of minutes. (My heater was so unusual the technician took a picture of it to share with the rest of the staff.) Very competent service staff.
We have been using Downey Plumbing for many years and they have never let us down. We called today at 1:00 pm and they sent a service man to our home at 3:00 pm. Santiago was able to find the problem and have everything running smooth within an hour. We really appreciate their service and reasonable service charge.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They don't know what they're doing & they OVERCHARGE!!! They charged my mother $188 to change her thermostat. Yes, $188 for a $50 thermostat that you can buy from home depot. What's worse, it didn't even fix the problem. When I came to the house, the heater wasn't even working, it had a really nice thermostat though. We complained & they sent the same two buffoons back a few days later. This time, I was there. Now they said it was the blower motor & that it would be an additional $600. After I finished laughing in his face, I explained to him that I was an electrical contractor & that I could get the blower motor for around $200. I think that it's terrible that they would send out technicians who would perform work and charge so much when they obviously didn't even know for sure whether or not it would fix the problem. I found thesetechnicians to be rude & quite ignorant to the basics of HVAC technology. If the blower wasn't working, why change the thermostat? Greed that's why. They saw a little old lady as an opportunity, not only for a few quick bucks, but also for a return trip to make 3x the original amount. I find this to be a deceptive business practice. These people are extremely dishonest, un-knowledgable, and greedy. Give your money to someone else...
This is a company that does not know what they are doing? I have had the same tech come out 5 times for the same problem and everytime it is another BS excuse. Annoyed does not describe how I feel about this company. I have to look for another company to come out and clean up after them. The tech came to do a cleaning and left air conditioning unit not working.
Negative 1 if I could, this business will take your money. I'm a home owner and had an issue with all my drains in my home. They were called out bye my insurance company. There technician came in and snaked my tub and put a rubber plug on the outside of my home. They also went under my house to fix the pipe that need to be plugged. It took them two days, the second day they came back my tub was still stopped up and they snaked it again. Three weeks later I still had a problem, I had a sewer smell and ask for them to come back out. Of course new technician came out. He did his work found out I had a busted drain pipe and they refused to fix it and get the necessary restoration done/paid for. PLEASE USE ANOTHER COMPANY. I REPEAT USED SOMEONE ELSE. They will jus take your money. Them snaking my drain busted the line under my home. My apologies customers, the first technician that came failed to make me aware of the bad pipes under my home. I'm not a plumber technician. I stated I was a new homeowner. The questions that were asked were not basic. I had Never been under my home. Professionally no accommodation.. This is all my opinion. I called my insurance for assistance on my old water heater that was not working. The insurance company sent me Downey Plumbing. I immediately got a call with in one hour and was told a plumber could come between 11:30 and 2:30. Kevin the plumber called me and told be he was down the street. Kevin arrived with in the time frame and tried to fix the electrical portion of the water heater but the water heater still ended up leaking. Kevin said he would come the next day with a new water heater and advised me of what he was doing. The next morning Kevin came with a new water heater and professionally installed the heater. Kevin came clean, was nice and explained the entire process and when he was done he even showed me how to turn on and off the water heater. Kevin was careful and efficient and already had the parts ready to install the gas heater you could tell he knew what he was doing. I would recommend Downey Plumming.
Update 10/31/15: Called for service again due to another back up and this time Guillermo came out. Felt bad as its a saturday and not to mention halloween. Guillermo was friendly, professional, courteous and super chill. These guys really know what they're doing and their level of work clearly shows this. They clearly got the proper training not just in their trade but in their customer service skills as well. Guillermo was awesome! Thanks guys.

So we had a So Cal Gas Company inside Line issue. I had bought the insurance and explained the valve needing replacing. They said I would hear from a provider shortly to set up an appointment. Within two minutes I got a call from Kevin at Downey plumbing and heating. He was very accommodating and was going to come over right away to fix it. This was on a Saturday and we were a little busy so I asked if they were open on Sunday. Kevin said he could come past at some point on Sunday. His timing was impeccable and his attention to detail was perfect. He called on time give us an accurate time frame, he spoke clearly, was clean. I can't thank Kevin' enough and Downey plumbing and heating for making this such an easy fix. Especially on a Sunday that was quite a surprise and on an insurance call too! Thanks!

These guys had no idea what they were doing and left a complete mess after they had finished. Turns out that they were also the cause of an even larger gas leak than the one they started out with. This was only discovered when the Gas Co came back out the following day to leak-check our new gas line and found that the riser they ran up into our home was leaking like a sieve in one of the fusion connections. The following day Frassica Plumbing (Zach) came to our rescue and redid the fusion pipe riser coming into our home and also taped over the pipe coming into the meter box that had been scarred from their pipe wrenches.
