Home Inspection Authority was formed by John Laforme who started in the construction industry at a young age. John then moved into framing, roofing, siding and building additions to homes as well as constructing exterior decks and roof coverings. After several years of running a framing crew for a large construction company he then started buying homes and performing complete remodels and upgrading all systems in homes to then sell the homes for profit. After several years of flipping homes and seeing all the handy man work done to these homes John decided to open a home inspection business because his attention to detail and know how of the major systems in a home such as roofing, heating and air conditioning, framing, plumbing and electrical Home inspection Authority was born.

(John, this review is long overdue and for that I apologize.)
John's name was on an inspector recommendation list my realtor provided to my boyfriend and I after our offer was accepted. After a quick Google search I felt confident this was the man for the job and didn't even call a second or third inspector to get pricing. That was probably stupid on my part considering how quickly these types of miscellaneous fees pile up, but it was not a choice I ended up regretting.
A couple of things you can expect from him:
1. Prompt communication:
John is great with all modes of communication and as someone who was swinging this purchase during business hours in between meetings and projects you have no idea how much I appreciated that.
2. Digital payment capability:
I appreciated being able to pay for the inspection at the time of my appointment booking because like I mentioned prior I was trying to pull this off during work hours. I wasn't even sure if I'd be able to make it with the realtor to open the house for him so being able to square the payment away ahead of time really put me at ease.
3. Thorough and meticulously written reports:
John's reports are written in such a way that they can easily be used as a guide (which is exactly what we're doing now). He groups his findings into three categories so it's written plain as day what is not acceptable, somewhat acceptable, and recommended to upgrade. Not only that but he also tells you the type of contractor to contact to complete the work he is pointing out is needed (which completely takes the guess work out for first time homeowners like myself).
John, thank you for being able to fit us in so quickly! We didn't end up closing in two weeks because the sellers didn't want to recognize the capital gains this tax season, but we still very much appreciate you having been able to squeeze us in as quickly as you did. I've got a best friend that will be in the market for a home in a few months and I've already let her know she has to look no further than you to get her home inspection done :)
John was thorough, professional and walked us through the property after his initial inspection which was great! So glad my realtor recommended John for his services. John communicated great with us and from the moment we met him, you can tell he was experienced and honest. Thank you, John!!!!

We reached out to John for a home and sewer inspection for a home we are purchasing. John responded right away, and offered us his earliest possible appointments. He arrived before his scheduled time, speaking with us briefly before he got to work.
He moved quickly, but inspected thoroughly. After the inspection, he gave us the highlights, and a day or two later, we had our home and sewer report online in a clean and easy to use online interface. We were able to easily compile a list of repair requests for the sellers along with his photos and explanations.
We were extremely impressed with his professionalism and quality work, and would be glad to recommend John to anyone in the LA area. Thanks, John!

Yelp asked me to remove the name of the other inspection company that I ended up going with... So I did. As you can clearly see... yelp did NOT remove my review!
I spoke to you Wednesday night about a tentative Friday appointment and gave you my clients information, clearly telling you I had to confirm with my client first.
The very next morning at 7:27 AM , I let you know know my client prefers a Monday appointment. WHY would you send a confirmation text and a link to my client at 9:08 AM that same morning?? I then sent a voice message asking WHY you're confirming an appointment when I've been asking to change it!! SNEAKY, and dishonest!
You have some major miscommunication issues
We used John's services for two homes while in escrow. He did an outstanding job and was very thorough. Our real estate agent was impressed with John's work and has used/recommended him to other clients.
John's reports were detailed and organized. It made it very easy during escrow to request repairs and receive seller credits towards closing. John also provides a handy guide to help maintain your home. Would not hesitate to use his services again.
On time, professional , knowledgeable and to the point. The report is easy to understand and detailed. I sent out the report to contractors and let them bid away.
John has been our go-to inspector for years!! Not enough words to describe how thorough, detailed, and professional John is. Easy to book and completed report within 24 hours!!!! I almost never write reviews but I was so impressed with John's professionalism I couldn't help myself! John is very through with his inspection. He charged for 1 hour but he spent around 2 hours to inspect the 2 bedroom apartment less than 1000 sqft that I am planning to purchase. After his inspection, he pointed out the issues one by one and explained in detail in layman's terms. He is a true professional and an honest great guy. Highly recommend him!

We hired John Laforme from the Home Inspection Authority to do an inspection for a home we ended up buying last spring. He charged a little more than the last inspector we used but it was a quick escrow so we were glad to have someone come out last minute to inspect the home. John showed up on time and the whole inspection was rather quick. He showed us some issues at the house and later sent a thorough inspection report.
The reason for the bad review is that 8 months later we had a plumbing issue. When running the kitchen sink, I heard what sounded like someone pouring a hose into a pool beneath the floor. So I crawled into the crawlspace and found a severely eroded pipe. By the severity of the pipe erosion, I figured this had to of been going on for several years, yet along during the inspection. The plumber I hired to fix the pipe adamantly agreed that it would of been present during inspection and the inspector screwed up.
I contacted John about it and he said there weren't any leaks during inspection. Take a look at the pictures I posted on their Google and Angie's List reviews. If you think this pipe could of eroded this badly in only a few months, hire these people. If you think this damage would take several years and this guy did a poor job, then look for another inspector.

I found Home Inspection Authority through Yelp. I appreciate the details John provided when we hired him for our home inspection and sewer. He found rust in all the plumbing, hot water heater, mold under the dishwasher, window and hvac ducts, issues with roof and flashings and the list goes on and on. This prompted us to get plumber to get give further opinion and quotes and roofer estimate. We also got mold tested and they came out positive. We felt we had loads of information regarding the house we are interested in buying. John came with 2 guys for sewers and another guy for home inspection. We were told not to bother the guys but John was there for any questions I had. I would hire him again if the sale of this house falls through and we need to hire him for any other inspections.
John was great! We are first time homebuyers and he did an extremely thorough job of investigating all the areas of the house, and all with a great attitude. Thank goodness we found him on Yelp!
Details: He arrived right on time and it took about 3+ hours for a single family home, and he went through the roofing, exterior, structure, electrical, heating, cooling, insulation, plumbing, and interior. This included going down under the house as well as into the attic, and took numerous photos of problem spots throughout his explorations. At the end of the inspection, he sat down and walked through all his photos/findings with us and made sure to address any questions that we had in a unbiased and straightforward manner (e.g. not an alarmist but also didn't downplay problem areas). He also included a guide for home owning maintenance at the end that has good tips.
Not only were we impressed, but also our agent and the seller's agent were too! They even asked for his contact info so they could use him in the future :)
Report: Within a couple of days, we received a detailed report. It included all the photos as well as additional reference information around each issue as backup.
Price: Very reasonable and for a quality inspection! Not to mention, he also includes a mold and sewage guarantee which is pretty rare.
I'd highly recommend that you go with John if you're looking for a thorough inspection of your house. You won't be disappointed!

Glad I found John through yelp! I use yelp for everything and being a first time home buyer I wasn't sure how I was going to find a good home inspector, but glad I picked him for our house inspection.
John doesn't waste anytime, he came a bit earlier and was on time to the appointment. He has a great personality and has the patience to go over his findings with you. I'm a total newbie to home inspection so it really helped that he took the time to go through the photos with us.
I really recommend using John for your home inspection. He even gives you a box of jolly ranchers to take home which adds a nice touch!
I have had the pleasure of working with John on three home purchases over the years and the reason that he is the first person I call in escrow is his professionalism and accuracy. He is very thorough in reviewing all aspects of the home's condition and has the client's interests at heart. John picked up my call during the evening when I was searching for a home inspector for a condo I am in the process of purchasing. Not many other inspectors were open for business hours; the ones that were didn't even answer my call. He was very courteous and helpful on the phone, which is why I had confidence in him even before meeting him.
John showed up early for our inspection and had all of his equipment ready to go. He kindly explained what to expect including his quote for the job and time to complete. Once he started the inspection, he was extremely thorough and took pictures of problems he found. He has cool tools that he uses for everything, so he's got all the bases covered.
After the inspection, he reviewed all of his findings and photos with my agent and I, and provided me with a booklet and his warranty info. I was able to pay the very reasonable quoted price with my credit card on his Paypal card swiping device.
John is one of the most professional, courteous, and pleasant people I've worked with so far in my condo-buying process. I would highly recommend him to anyone with complete confidence.
What a great experience! John came out to inspect a house that we made an offer on to buy, and he was absolutely wonderful. I requested his services for the home, pool, sewer, and termite inspections. He had fantastic subcontractors come out for the sewer and termite inspections (he coordinated them for us so everyone was there at the same time), and he performed the home and pool inspections himself. John was fantastic to work with, extremely thorough, and explained his findings in a way that was easy for us to understand. It turned out that he uncovered some significant areas of concern that we would not have been able to identify without his expertise. I used Home Inspection Authority when purchasing a condo for my dad. John was friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all our questions. I would definitely recommend his services.
I chose Home Inspection Authority after reading the many excellent reviews on Yelp. I have a landlord who has neglected to maintain his house and I needed to know exactly what was going on with all the serious problems he has refused to fix.
John was prompt, polite and professional. He was extremely thorough, but also efficient and was out of the house in about 3 hours. I got both the house inspection and sewer line inspection. I felt the quote was quite reasonable.
The report was very detailed with photos and diagrams and things explained for laypeople.
I would use John again when I am ready to buy a property, because with this report, you know exactly what you are in for.
Honestly, I was a little apprehensive about using home services found via Yelp. Had a pretty bad experience with plumbers found on Yelp despite the glowing 5 stars. After my experience with Home Inspection Authority, I regain a little bit of confidence back regarding Yelp.
John and his assistant (or staff?) arrived promptly. He is professional & knowledgeable. Finished the job within 2 hrs like he said he would. Price was the $$ he quoted me. Everything ran smoothly and the overall experience was pleasant.
Was able to use his home inspection report to negotiate (put in a RR - Request for Repairs). That was a huge help and sigh of relief.
All in all, 4.5 stars. It's be nice if he was even more detailed, but good enough. Bottomline, would consider using his service again.

Before I select someone on Yelp, I really try to do my homework by reading the reviews (positive and negative). After going through many options for home inspectors, I decided to go with Home Inspection Authority and I must say the experience was excellent. John was amazing. He was thorough, patient, and really took him time explaining everything. Thank you!
Home Inspection Authority is the best home inspection company!! John and his crew were on time and started right away. He explained everything that is included in a home inspection and I was able to order a sewer scope inspection too(at an extra charge-but worth it.) After the home inspection was completed, John explained everything along with the pictures he took. He delivered the home inspection report in a timely manner and with everything that he had showed me. The warranty was awesome too!!
I am going to recommend him to anyone I know that will be needing a home inspection! He is AMAZING!

I found John LaForme here on Yelp when my regular home inspector was out of town and I needed an inspection right away, that was back in November of 2015 and I've since called only Home Inspection Authority for all my escrows. Punctual, thorough and they deliver a completed report the following day. In an escrow time frame is everything l! I trust their work and opinion on repairs, John goes one step further by running a recall on all appliances, and he has his own warranty on his inspection!! Truly the best! He's my guy for inspections!

We needed a home/sewer/pool inspector and John was the man! It was great that we could have one inspector come and do it all instead of getting a separate sewer inspector. He did a thorough job, talked through his concerns with us and gave us a comprehensive report with pictures! Highly recommend him. He was very professional and knew all the latest building codes. He even showed us how to fix some of the issues. A nice surprise was that he even gave us a warranty on the roof!
His price was very reasonable and in line with other inspector! Would use him again!
John was great. He got there early, he took his time he also provided me with a great plumber and someone to inspect the house for termites. I highly recommend John. He answered all my questions and made everything really easy. I would highly recommend him to everyone. After confirming our appointment he sent a reminder and followed through. John was a fantastic home inspector! I have had home inspections in the past, however, John's report was so much more thorough. He took pictures of every problem in the house, as well as detailed descriptions. He was very punctual and took his time inspecting every aspect of the house.

John is a wonderful home inspector. He always does a great job and has high tech gear to get the job done. His sewer inspection service is top notch and his sewer videos are the clearest I've ever seen. I would recommend him to anyone that wants a very knowledgeable home inspector.
John is very detailed if you want to know the exact condition of you home I highly recommend him. As a realtor I have seen many inspection reports and met many home inspectors by far John is the most professional and most detailed report I have seen. He also offers additional sewers camera inspection;if that is something you would like to inspect not many inspectors have the equipment to offer that service.
Here's a 30 day update to the review I wrote for Home Inspection Authority,( 5 stars for his service, 1 star for giving out my personal contact information = 3 stars). Since I wrote my 7/15/2015 review, I've received phone calls/emails from alarm companies and other 3rd party vendors like 'sewer guard' which offers coverage for my Water and Sewer Lines. Apparently John uses the personal contact information you give him (cell phone and email address) to allow other companies to solicit you into buying 3rd party services. It's in his contract, so if you don't want to get unsolicited calls and emails (at 12:31am?) from other businesses trying to sell you things, ask John to delete it from the agreement, or just use another 5 star Home Inspection company. I will from now on.

Being a first time home buyer there is so many things you don't know that needs to be done. It can get very overwhelming. JOHN Laforme is very detailed with his inspection and when he is done he walks you through what all needs to be fix from priority to maintenance. I was able by the end to understand with confidence what I was doing. Thanks for everything John Laforme.
I have heard friends say they couldn't find a good home inspector in LA, but luckily we found John! First, he is CREIA certified, which means he has to uphold the highest quality of standards, a must. He was professional and thorough. You could tell he was a pro and didn't miss any detail. He was able to have a sewer pipe inspection at the same time he was there, which included a full video report and written report helping to find roots growing into the pipes which can be solved with a hydro jet treatment. He found a foundation crack that was poorly repaired as well as leaning stilts below the house that he recommended needed reinforcements. He saw potential roofing issues as well as safety concerns around the home, and offered great tips on how to go about repairs. His report is so well done! Electronic and highlights all the areas needing attention with recommendations for reference. He also has references for structural engineers on his site, and gives you a book with great tips to help maintain your home yourself. Thank you, John!
We are in the process of purchasing our first home, therefore it is imperative to know all the potential problems we are getting ourselves into before we close escrow. This is why finding the best inspector possible at a reasonable price was crucial. Thanks to previous reviews, I found John and researched his company (along with a few more inspectors), called a few inspectors for quotes and availability, overall I am pleased with my gut feeling by choosing John.
Very friendly, comprehensive, knowledgeable and attentive to all details;took the time to explain his findings with us in detail and answered the 100 questions I had. He was flexible with our schedules and available when needed. He is very professional and was fun to be with for appx. 3 hours or so. John definitely provided us with the piece of mind we needed. Excellent job all around and highly recommended!
John is punctual, efficient, and honest. He showed up on time for the appointment and got right to work. He answered my questions and provided honest feedback. His inspection report arrived within 24 hours of the inspection. The best part was that John wasn't condescending. I'm a first time home buyer and I'm on the younger side of the spectrum; many people I've been dealing with (mortgage officers, realtors) have spoken to me like I'm a little kid. John was incredibly thorough in his inspection of my mid-century home.
His report was detailed but easy to understand and he took the time to explain to both the seller and me the most important issues. He found a serious, even dangerous, problem with the pool that the seller fixed immediately because they were concerned for the safety of their children. The other two inspectors who work with him for the sewer line and roof also did excellent jobs and reports.
Read the other wonderful reviews. I agree with every positive thing they said but didn't want to repeat the same information. I highly recommend him and will definitely use his company again when I win the lottery and buy my mansion.
Man oh man. Where to begin. I contacted a bunch of inspectors trying to get someone out to inspect a property I'm interested in. Got a response from everyone. What set John apart from the others was that he was the only one that did not care what city the house was located in. He did not ask for the address until we agreed on a price. He instead asked me what the square footage was. Fathom that!!! A home inspector professional that cares about the size of the house vs the the city it is located in. That right there made me feel that I'm dealing with an honest person.the day came to inspect the house. John immediately started working. Started by flying his drone. Inspected the roof. After that he did the exterior of the house. Than the interior. Pointed out few things here and there. 3 hours later he was done. Gave us an out brief right then and told us to expect the full report in 24 hours. His report was extremely detailed. He was available after the report was issued to talk about the findings. My wife and I really liked him. A totally different experience from another inspector we dealt with 4 years ago. John is now part our Profesional contact rolodex. Highly recommended.
John arrived early and his inspection was thorough: encompassing the roof, attic, crawlspace, electrical, plumbing, and more. He seemed very professional and up to speed with the current building codes. Our roof was found to be in good repair, so he was able to offer us a 5 year warranty on it.
All of his findings were properly documented, photographed, and sent to us in pdf format. This made it really easy for us to get quotes from trades, and subsequently get a significant credit from the seller of the home we were buying.
I recommend doing a sewer camera inspection too, for piece of mind.

We worked with John for two home inspections. We found him to be:
1) Candid and unbiased, which is RARE in the inspection business.
2) Knowledgeable and thorough.
3) Prompt and enthusiastic about his work.
4) Communicative and skillful at communicating complex home-related issues.
As he got busier this season, his report did not appear as thorough as the first one we engaged him to do, but overall it was still very informative. He was very accessible and there to pick up the phone even at odd hours, so we believe the service was A level overall. We're highly discriminating (but very fair) consumers and would definitely engage John again.

I needed an inspection for a small studio condo and also needed someone to take some measurments in 3 areas in the condo. Since measurements are not typically part of an inspection, I called around to a half dozen inspectors to get quotes and to see who would be willing to take measurements - some didn't want to take the measurments but most did to earn the business, including John.
After some consideration I called John back to confirm that I would hire him as long as he took the measurments. He agreed, so I scheduled an appointment with the seller. I then emailed John to give him the date and time and confirmed for the third time that he would take measurments.
After the inspection was completed John emailed me letting me know but that he forgot to tell the inspector to take the measurements. He then proceeded to ask for payment. We then got into a long email and phone argument because I refused to pay him until he performed in full. Not only did he not apologize he asserted I was being difficult for not paying him. I cant say anything about his inspection skills but hes a very stubborn and obtuse fellow.

Most home inspections are conducted when one is buying a house. Yet after living in my house for 25 years, I wanted a full house inspection to determine what I should fix or not.
I have already fixed or remodeled many parts of my house and many of the systems have already been repaired and or replaced with varying degrees of competency. There are also many other problems waiting for attention. In fact, there are many problems I didn't even know I had! I am sick of being ripped off by contractors, so I wanted someone with no financial interest to inspect my house and point out exactly what I need to do, or not do. John LaForme and his assistant, Telle, did exactly what I wanted. They inspected the entire house from roof to foundation. Two days later, I received a lengthy report and a summary report of problems illustrated with tons of photos. There were even arrows pointing to the specific problem areas with detailed explanations. Now I feel much more confident calling contractors and showing them the exact problems that need repair. I learned about John LaForme from a relative who raved about his work and she was right; he is a great house inspector.
First time home buyer, first time I use them, John was great. Very detailed report, was able to understand everything.. I know who to call if I ever need someone for these services again...

John is an honest, professional, thorough and reliable inspector. The usual inspector I have used in the past did not cover the city my property in need of an inspection was in so I reached out to John after receiving his contact information. He said it would not be a problem and at that moment, the requested date and time of the inspection was available. It worked out because he was hired by my buyer purchasing the property. I personally plan on recommending him in the future and suggesting him to be the inspector for my buyers in need of one.
A friend of mine referred me to John for my home inspection. He gave me a fair quote and was very friendly. He emailed me the home inspection report in a timely manner and provided lots of detail. I would highly recommend!

More than my perspective as a Realtor, my clients have commented how professional and in-depth their home inspection was performed. I was pleasantly surprised that even my clients (who are selling their home) commented that the report that John provides was superior to their previous home inspections! Once John completes his inspection, he takes the appropriate time to review his findings so a buyer knows the condition of the home. Exactly what I need to support my buyer's decision to move forward with the purchase of their future home!
I called John after contacting SEVERAL home inspectors. Before hiring him I put him through the paces... including TWO phone interviews. We had been burned by a bad inspection report in the past and I wasn't taking any chances.
From those phone calls, to the inspection itself, to the written report, to my numerous questions, John was a true professional. He was informative, knowledgable and patience every step of the way. He even followed up with me during the escrow period to see how it was going and congratulate us on our new house. (Who does that!?)
I am admittedly a TYPE A neurotic person who worries about everything. He was so on top of things that it totally put me at ease. And his report was so detailed that it inspired the homeowner to fix things we didn't even ask for. So now I feel great about moving in.
We had 3 follow up inspections with various specialist and they all echoed the same things that John had said. Basically, we had ZERO surprises and he missed ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
This guy is great; a total pro and very cool if you looking for someone to have your back.

John is very knowledgable and experienced with inspecting homes. He is really easy to talk to and he describes things as simply as possible. The report he provided us was detailed and well organized. Also, he works with some other guys who specialize in doing sewer pipe inspections. Everyone is a master at what they do. I will definitely be recommending Home Inspection Authority to any family or friends who will be looking to do an inspection!
I cannot recommend Home Inspection Authority enough! John is the absolute best! He brought one of his associates along which made the inspection go by so much faster. They were INCREDIBLY thorough and checked everything. The condo we were considering happened to have radiant heating in the ceilings and I really wanted to install recessed lighting. John brought a special heat measuring laser device and diligently checked the ceilings in every room. He took the time to show me and my husband everything and his report was ready in UNDER 24 hours.
Seriously, I don't have one single bad thing to say. I can't recommend Home Inspection Authority and John enough. His price was so reasonable compared to the other inspection companies, and his work is truly top notch. He accommodated my schedule, answered our questions, and was so responsive. I would hire him again in an instant!

I called Home Inspection Authority because I wanted a honest, professional service. I didn't trust the inspection service hired by the broker because their interest is on closing the deal not giving me the thorough inspection that will help me make the right decision. I called Friday and John helped me by scheduling following Monday. He was very thorough on checking the property including all the plumbing, HVAC, and electrical system of the property.
His report was impeccable on pictures and details of the inspection. In addition, his recommendation helped us to make a right decision on the property. Purchasing the property can be stressful and can cause life long regret of the decision you have made. Having Home Inspection Authority on my side to provide me with professional thorough service was true blessing for me to not make such mistake. I would recommend his service to anyone who is purchasing a home.

John was flexible with his time and was able to help us last minute within a 24 hour request. John worked very thoroughly throughout his inspection and pointed out issues but was not an alarmist. He was very good at explaining each issue found in the property. The very detailed work he did is something any home buyer and agent would hope for at a very reasonable price. You won't regret giving him a chance. I'll definitely be a repeat customer.
I found John through yelp myself. As a Broker you always want the best inspections for you client. I had been using two or three companies prior to John. Now they do charge on the low end and I found out that I was basically getting a low end inspection for my clients. I've used John now on countless number of deals. Very professional. Prompt on time and sometimes early. Very thorough. Answers clients questions.Has drones for the roofs and non-accessible crawl spaces. Reports are turned over with little delay. Offers roof certs for clients. Don't waste your time with other inspectors. John is definitely the best home inspector I've ever used!

I have been a full time real realtor for 20+ years, I have worked with several inspectors and inspections companies and by far, John from Home Inspection Authority is the absolute best! He is very thorough, always on time, respectful, knowledgeable and is very 'there' for the buyer. He is willing to answer any questions and very honest, upfront yet does nothing to scare the buyer. Buying a home is stressful so it's nice to be in a transaction with people that care. On top of that, he provides an additional WARRANTY free of charge! Whatever is warranted to be working at the time of his inspection is warranted after the buyer moves in! That's true customer service! He's the best, I would not recommend anyone else!
John did very comprehensive inspection on the house, providing me very complete information to know better about this house! His report is also amazing, including all the photos of problems and suggested solutions. I'm really appreciate his professional work.
John is absolutely fantastic! We were lucky to have found him. In fact, we called him on Sunday night on a holiday and he showed up Monday morning! It is an older house in Encino. He did a VERY thorough inspection - a lot more than we expected, for a reasonable price. He is reliable, courteous and sent a report within 24 hours. WE HIGHLY recommend him and will use him again.
My realtor gave me 3 home inspection companies to choose from, they all seemed to have competitive pricing but home inspection authority offered me more for the same amount of money as the others, what caught my attention was the 90 day warranty, the other inspectors did not offer that. so i chose Home inspection authority, when there inspector showed up he was very knowledgable and answered my questions in a way that i could understand, he also showed me illustrations of how the the repairs should look when done correctly. The inspector actually pointed out that 2 of my exterior french doors where installed back wards and i was able to get the seller to have them reinstalled correctly. Very happy customer.
John does one of the most thorough and detailed inspection reports I've ever seen. He takes the time as he is doing his inspection to point things out and explain, but the detailed report you get once he's done with photos indicating each and every concern is amazing. He's extremely professional, friendly and I felt very fortunate that he was the person doing the inspection. Can't give a higher recommendation.
i used home inspection authority after looking at their glowing 5 star reviews on yelp 2 months back. They claim that their home inspection comes with 90 days warranty which just seems to be a scam or another way to attract customers. During the inspection the air condition turned on and worked fine. We moved into our new house a few weeks back Just a while ago when i tried turning on my air condition but for some reason it wont even start. I emailed home inspection authority hoping them fix my unit which should still be in their warranty but in-turn they email me back saying that my HVAC system reported a problem and asked me whether i got my air condition serviced by a licences technician. However, that is not true and It only said that there was a drip panel missing which has nothing to do with my air conditioning turning on. Their emails just tried to confuse me and trying to escape cover my warranty. I'm glad that i did not leave a review right after the home inspection like most of the people did here.
I am continuing this review further to John's response: Because you are making this personal calling me names on yelp let me make this straight with you John! The attractive 90 days warranty is set by you not me on your website and that's what a customer expects when there is a problem. When we pay you $400 and give you business we expect a service not your crappy rude replies. Only when time comes to provide a service you guys remember all your conditions and policies. it's very upsetting to see a professional company making such cheap comments on yelp.
This company is awesome! I was buying a home and my realtor referred me to this guy John for the home inspection. They were very polite over the phone when schedule the appointment, when the TWO inspectors came out they did a very efficient and professional job. Nice, neat, polite, knowledgeable and very informative. I'm not a construction guy and I understood everything they were explaining. To top it off my agent was able to use their inspection to get me a big discount on the repairs. Good job guys!! Keep up the good work!!! I would recommend this company to anybody!!

I had an inspection done by John recently on a house i am purchasing. As other reviewers have mentioned John is VERY thorough. The broker i am working with said that it is probably the most detailed inspection report he has seen so far. His prices are very fair and the inspection he does is worth every single penny in my opinion.

As a first time home buyer, I was worried about the cost and process of home inspection. John was very knowledgable, incredibly helpful and made it a pleasant experience. The home inspection was thorough and to guarantee his work, he included a 90-day warranty at no extra cost. Even the seller was impressed! I highly recommend John, he is true professional.

As first-time homebuyers looking at 70+ year old flipped houses, I'm so glad we went with John. He inspected two properties for us and made us aware of major issues we never would've uncovered, potentially saving us many thousands of dollars and lots of headaches. Plus he arrived early, was great to work with, and even answered the phone late in the evening to help answer questions and schedule our inspections. His reports are insanely detailed while still being easy to read, and he took his time to explain all his findings and show us his photos at the end of the inspection, even before he typed up the report. At one property, when gas lines crossing the entrance of the crawlspace prevented him from crawling under the house, he found a way to use his wifi-camera and pole attachment to inspect the crawlspace anyway. Truly above and beyond. Couldn't recommend him higher.

My review is pretty much the same as Dennis K's. The inspection was fine however expect to be solicited and spammed via emails and phone calls by third parties after the inspection in an attempt to buy things like home alarms. Sure it's probably in the contract as John states but let's be honest, not everyone reads those things in fine detail nor expects to be opted-in until explicitly requesting to be removed from up-sell opportunities. Just another way to make more money out of a customer which I understand but it should be opt-in, not opt-out. That way is more customer friendly and less sneaky. Now go ahead and claim this review is false despite the fact that this is exactly what happened.
John is the real deal!! So this is my second property but my first home. The guy I used in vegas was amazing and I seriously contemplated about flying him out to do my inspection on my home here in LA but my realtor highly suggested John and I am soo glad he did! John was actually ahead of schedule which was great for me and it was a full production when he was at work. Extremely meticulous, saw things I didn't and not one inch of my home was not inspected by him. John literally just came out yesterday and I just received my extensive home inspection report this morning. He not only tells you what's going on with the property, the good and the bad, but he provides a history of materials that are currently being used, has recommendation tabs that sit next to the info tabs on the highlighted items and he also links in techs he recommends for issues needing to be resolved i.e plumber. If you need a home inspection just stop looking and call John! *Bonus he gave me a notebook, broucher and a homeowners guide book that helps you navigate through future repairs and updates for your home. Thanks again for an excellent job John.

I was holding a open house in Thousand Oaks and I was visited by a home inspector named John, I really liked how he presented himself and what he had to say so I reffered him to my client for a home inspection. Both my client and I where very happy with the home inspection, the report was delivered the next morning and it was very easy to understand. I have been a realtor for several years and I have seen my share of inadequate home inspection reports, I recommend John's inspection service.

Look no further, seriously don't even consider anyone else. Your home is the biggest purchase you will make and you want to make sure you know everything wrong with the house before you buy. John is Legit, he arrived right on time, was very professional, and thorough. His 2 1/5 hour inspection included pictures using a drone to inspect my roof with detailed pictures, my entire crawl space and my attic. He did heat sensors on my vents. He tested every appliance, all bathrooms, air ducts, furnace. He found everything wrong and showed me images of everything on his laptop before leaving and gave me a detailed report the next day. Now I can make a purchase knowing the true value of the house and include the cost to fix everything needed. Can't recommend this John enough!
Got a suggestion from my realtor to use the company for my buying general inspection. Rudest attitude you might think of to get from a contractor you're giving business to! The experience reminded me for the several time that yelp reviews mater but not always and 100%! Seeing the weird attitude multiple times, and with a tight deadline of being at the end of inspection contingency I finally decided to re-search yelp to bring another inspector, and ended up to hire Ian Douglas Inspections. It was absolutely the right decision and the owner/inspector proved that he deserves the business and 5 star reviews although only few. Attitudes like you either pay me and sign my agreement SHARP 48 hrs prior to inspection or I won't waist my time, and so on... This is not what you want to come from a contractor you're giving him a roughly $500 business for less than 2 hours work...OR he doesn't need the business! Then good luck with that...! In summary: definitely not a 5 star service as it's reflected here!

I must say, I am a very satisfied customer! Just bought our first home a few months ago and we used Home Inspection Authority. Didn't know what to expect never being through the home buying process before. John, our inspector, was very professional. He was on time, very thorough, knowledgeable, explained everything in great detail and pretty much answered any questions I might have had. Later I came up with another question so I called. I was amazed at the immediate response I got! They really have their stuff together. I truly felt like I was being given not only a high quality home inspection, but a high quality customer service experience as well. Home inspection game on point! Lol Theres a reason why they are called the authority! Now that the home buying process is a few months behind us, we are getting settled in and I felt compelled to say some kind words about this business because, as stressful as the whole process can be, this was the easiest part thanks to the AUTHORITY.
I tried using Mazza Inspections because they were the closest to where I am looking to buy. Part of my escrow counter offer was that the home inspection needed to be done within 10 days. After calling Mazza Ins. they told me they didn't have anything available until next week. I explained my situation and all they told me was, Sorry and made no effort to try and accommodate me. Well, I guess they didn't give a F$%K about my business. Then I saw Home Inspection Authority had great reviews on Yelp. Needless to say, the house that I am purchasing is in a great condition and needs very very minor work. I would like to say that it is, Move in ready. This did not stop John and his partner from doing a half ass job. Although the house is in great shape, he still completed a very thorough job. After the home inspection was complete he took the time to explain every minor repair that needed to be done. He also walked around the house and explained what every box is used for. He was very professional and respectful. Also, they showed up in Uniforms which adds to their level of professionalism. I would highly recommend them and will use them for my next purchase. Lastly, you cannot beat their price. I never write reviews, this is my first one. Huge thumbs up!

John sent his employee Aaron early to get started on outside of house. Very thoughtful to expedite the process. Once John arrived, the experience became even better. They took their time to inspect everything accessible. I was aware of many problems with house, but they gave insight to ones that I I didn't know existed. The report was very clear and was complete with pictures. The summary of Soon to Immediate was a real eye opener. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for an inspection. I did it for myself to make a decision to sell or keep my house. Awesome guys!

I had the pleasant experience of using Home Inspection Authority. John Laforme is the owner and was my inspector. He was wonderful to deal with even from my first phone call to him. He answered my call right away and gave a very reasonable quote for the inspection of my house. He arrived early on inspection day and was extremely thorough. He welcomed questions and encouraged me to follow and observe him on the inspection. This great attitude led me to trust his work ethic along with his professionalism and attention to detail.
