I would like to take this opportunity to introduce Duke Electric Company and how it got started. I was Blessed to have had a Hawaiian family take care of me and taught me the values of hard work and honesty. I was interested in the field of electricity and had some experience with it, so, I attended an electrical school and got certified. I started working for an electrical company, but really wanted to start my own business. Luckily, I met a co-worker named Calvin Lau, who now works for PGE, helped me get started on my own residential and commercial business.

If you are in the South Bay and looking for electrical service, you just found the best. Duke is super friendly and professional.
We recently got a Tesla and we didn't want to share the dryer outlet. For the cable to reach the two spots the car will park we need to run a conduit from the inside wall to the other side of the garage (by the door).
I'll let the pics represent quality of work, but I cannot be any happier with the result for what I paid. It's about 30ish ft conduit along the wall. I already put the shelves in place so only showing the two ends.
The appointment was super easy, but that can vary for many factors especially more and more people are getting their first EV. if availabilities are limited, I would consider wait unless it urgent.
Also Duke pointed out that one of my breaker installed by a handyman I previously hired would not pass inspection because of different brand than the box. He explained and replaced it for me for free. Honest quality professional services.
Duke and his team did a great job. They collaborated well with our work from home schedules, were super respectful and cleaned up after. I highly recommend them.

We hired him to install new exterior lights for the garage and front porch. He was on time for the quote and helped me select the correct light for the garage to achieve a clean and seamless exterior look.
Day of install he and his team checked in multiple times throughout the process to ensure I was clear on everything being done, why, and to ensure I was happy with how everything was mounted and installed.
What I appreciated most was when I needed to make an edit, his team was adaptable and kind about it. Additionally, I appreciated the cleanliness of his team in how they swept up everything after the install and also wore booties when entering the interior of the house.

We hired Duke to do a bunch of custom lighting and electrical work for new cabinets, bookshelves, and bathroom lighting. Not only were we pleased with the results, but working with Duke and his team along the way was a pleasure.
What impressed me most about Duke is his attention to detail. At our first meeting, he asked lots of clarifying questions to make sure that he understood what we wanted. He also made suggestions that added polish and functionality. His crew was professional, clean, and friendly.
During the project, Duke noticed an issue with the cabinets that would have been very difficult to fix after the cabinets were installed. He worked with the cabinet installers on short notice and made sure that everything was correct and up to code.
Throughout the project, Duke was always communicative, checking in and making sure everything was right at every step of the way to make sure our project was a success. I highly recommend Duke Electric!

We purchased our first EV vehicle and Duke installed the home charger for us. Duke worked around our schedule and made sure the job was done right for a reasonable price. We had ordered a BMW EV charger and after Duke installed it we found out the charger was faulty. He helped us uninstall the charging unit and said he would come back to reinstall the new unit as soon as we received it. Although he had done his job and it was not his fault the unit was faulty, he never mentioned payment. We reordered a different unit and as soon as we received it, he made arrangements to come and finish the job. He did an excellent job.
We also had Duke install two electrical plugs in our fireplaces. He did an excellent job with those as well. I highly recommend Duke's services.
I had part of my lights go out in my Condo. He came within a few hours
and found the problem. He fixed it and did not charge a large fee.

I have used Duke Electrical Services several times and each time the experience has been really great. I highly recommend this company. The first time I used Duke I was in a bind and needed someone immediately. I explained this to Duke and he was there within one hour. He efficiently fixed the problem. The second time I called him, he came out the same day, ordered the needed circuit breaker and sent his crew the next morning who were also great to work with. The 3rd time, he really had to come up with a creative solution to an electrical wiring issue (older house). He was resourceful and got the job done. He is very knowledgeable and will try to make the repair as economical as possible, in other words, he will not try to make the job more expensive than it needs to be. He is a very honest man. I highly recommend him for all your electrical needs.
We received an estimate from Duke over the weekend (after an initial visit on Wednesday last week), and Eddie came out to make the necessary repairs this Wednesday. He was on time, installed the replacement transformer, cleaned up some things in our attic that weren't up to code, removed some scrap wire he found, and installed waterproof connectors in place of the electrical tape that was previously installed, all in less than 2 hours.
We're very happy with the work that was done, and with the way the entire Duke team handled the entire process from initial visit to invoicing and payment. We highly recommend Duke Electric!
Duke and his crew did a wonderful job with several electrical jobs as part of rental renovation. They installed recessed LED lighting in the kitchen and living room, added a new 125A subpanel in the garage, new 50A EV outlet, new 50A oven outlet, and upgraded an aging 100A main Zinsco panel with a 200A one. Duke applied for and coordinated permits and inspections with the city of Campbell.
Eddie and Jayden were especially great to work with. Price was reasonable compared to the other two electricians I for quotes from.
Duke's company did almost all the electrical in my house. They installed my hallway lights, dining room lights, kitchen light, recessed lighting in the bedrooms, living room and family room. They also suggested ceiling flush mount speakers for our surround sound. They also installed a charger for our electric car and ceiling fans in the master bedroom and living room. I will call Duke whenever I need any electric work, he's the best.

*** Terrific Job in Panel Upgrade for our Duplex ***
-TLDR-
Duke, Eddie, and Jaden did a fantastic job in upgrading our electrical panels from 2x100Amps to 2x200Amps (this is a duplex). They have gone above and beyond to work with us, adapting to our needs. Cannot recommend them enough.
-Details-
We live in a duplex that dates back to the 1950s. We wanted to have our old electrical panels upgraded to bring in more power for future upgrades. We reached out to maybe half a dozen of contractors. Duke was the last contractor we contacted, but are we glad that we did. Most contractors were unwilling to take on the project, since they are either unfamiliar with duplexes (which typically have separate meters and panels), aren't able to source the material (Covid-related shortages still ongoing), didn't want to deal with PGE, or proposed solutions that would have been very hard to achieve in hindsight.
Duke was different than everybody else. He carefully listened to our needs, explained his plan, and laid out the expectations. In contrast to other contractors, he didn't choose the path of least resistance (for him), but rather the path that was most future-proof and aesthetically pleasing to us. In addition to being integral and upfront, we really appreciated that:
1. Duke handled permits, inspections, PGE power shut down/up, and stucco repairs.
2. Duke & team made sure that we were without power for less than a day, (10am-6pm). This is a big deal for such a complex project.
3. Everything (including prep work, panel upgrade, inspection, and patch up), was completed in less than two days total.
4. Duke answered every one of our questions professionally and clearly, even before we entered the contract.
5. Duke & team were able to think outside the box, adapting the solutions to our needs, even if that meant adding more work and changing plan.
We were at home during the installation, and I have to say that I was impressed by how hard-working and dedicated the entire team was. They even declined our offer to bring them lunch and/or dinner; all they accepted was water.
If you are in the market for an electrical contractor, do not hesitate to reach out to him. We for sure will call him back for future electrical work!
Awesome electrical team! My cousin is an electrician so we'd normally go to him but sometimes getting on his schedule is tough. I called one of Duke's competitor's first and it took 2 months for him to get back to me with a quote - he eventually ghosted me - for the installation of a ceiling fan in our living room.
Finally called Duke on a Wednesday. He picked up the phone immediately, asked a few simple questions about the job, and I had a rough estimate and promise to return my text with a finalized quote and appointment time later that day. That afternoon, I not only had a quote, but he had also scheduled his drywall guy to patch up the holes his team would have to make immediately following their work.
Two days later, on Friday his guys showed up promptly at the promised time. They were friendly, professional, wore masks when requested, super clean and meticulous in making sure to cover all our furniture and rugs. They completed the work in 2.5 hours and it looked awesome! Ceiling fan worked great and no mess.
The drywall guy showed up 30 min later and was also professional and clean (drywall is messy so this takes extra care).
I paid everything through Duke via Zelle. He was a pleasure to work with and would absolutely use his services again. His price was more than fair. Great to have a back-up electrician that's local and clearly takes pride in his work!

Duke replaced an old fluorescent fixture in my kitchen with new recessed lighting, as well as installed a few new lights. I was looking for an electrician to install an EV charger. I received a few quotes from other electricians, but found out they were unlicensed. Duke responded to me on Yelp and we exchanged messages about the project, as well as photos. He informed me that my existing electrical panel was not hooked up to code. Knowing my previous shady general contractor, I was not surprised. Duke quoted me a price for a panel upgrade to 200A and an EV charger. The price was the same as other unlicensed electricians.
Duke scheduled the work quickly. He was responsive over text, showed up on time, and took care of scheduling inspections. He explained various aspects of the work when I went out to check on things, and everything passed inspection on the first pass. He was very friendly and I felt like he was honest and reliable.
I would happily recommend Duke for future electrical work.
My pool electrical stopped working after the 2 weeks after the storm. Looked around for a electrician to get a quote to fix pool electrical and also replace my old 100 amp panel to 200 amps. I researched 4 companies to get a quote. Duke was the 4th company I talked to.
I'll talk about Duke first. Called Duke electric in the morning and the guy actually picked up and didn't go to vm. Told him I want to get a quote. He told me he can come by in the late afternoon. He showed up on time on the same day. Talk about responsive. He asked what I'm looking to do and would explain the whole process and even ask if I would get solar or ev in the future? I told him I will go ev and solar in future. He explained the types of panels that is ev and solar compatible that will be installed. Explained whole process for both the pool and panel job. Got me the quotes for both jobs the following morning. I had more questions for him and he always answered without being pushy. I decided to go with Duke to replace my pool electrical, replace my panel to 200 amps and install Tesla ev charger. I bought a Tesla during process and add another job for him. If you want someone reliable, honest, great service, responsive, great value and trust worthy then you have to go with Duke. His team is great as well just like Duke. Now I can see why he gets all the 5 stars. Thanks Duke! The guy is friendly and personable to talk to.
Called and email 2 other companies and never heard back from them. Had another company come out to get a quote, the guy looked at the old panel and I showed him the pool electrical as well, I told him I wanted to get a quote for both jobs. The guy was not responsive and had to email him to send me the quotes couple days later. He only give me a quote for the panel and not the pool electrical job. He told me he didn't look at the pool electrical and they'll work on it after replacing the panel. Not only did he not provide what I asked for but not thorough in explaining the job and only talk about how many houses he worked in the area. Got the vibe I don't trust this guy and definitely don't want to hire him.

Duke has a tremendous eye for detail. He ensures that electrical work is done not just safely but also in a way that is tidy and looks good. As the person who has to live here long after he has finished and gone, this is very important to me.
Communication is also exceptional - if he does not respond immediately the I can be sure he will call me in a few hours, even on a weekend. He is happy to talk about any aspect of the project and ensure I understand.
I have had Duke do several jobs this past year. The longest was working with PG&E and managing the paperwork for a service upgrade. Duke took care of all the details and liaised with their project manager. While waiting for PG&E we had enough time to reflect and realise we didn't need such an expensive and disruptive solution. Duke was very honest and told me that a much cheaper option was sufficient. We cancelled the project and miraculously he managed to get my deposit money back from PG&E! Duke could have easily done nothing, but instead he did the right thing.
Trust, professionalism and integrity come to mind when I pick up the phone to Duke and ask him back for another job.
Duke stopped by and helped troubleshoot an electrical issue I was having in the kitchen area. He was really courteous and offered tips should I run into similar issues. He made the whole experience a lot less stressful. I've already recommended his services to a buddy and will definitely reach out again with any other issues (hopefully not though).
Duke arrived on time and help troubleshoot a circuit breaker issue I was having with the dryer. He promptly figured out the issue and fix it right away. He explained the issue with the circuit panel box and let me know how to avoid it in the future. He is courteous and very easy to work with. I will definitely reach out to him in the future for any electrical needs.
We had a problem with our dryer outlet and Duke was able to help us out. He is efficient, reliable and knowledgable. His rates are reasonable. He figured out the problem immediately and was able to fix it right away. He even gave us pointers on how to avoid issues in the future and what we might be doing wrong. We will definitely be reaching out to him for any of our future needs.

We had an unexpected electric issue at our house, which we realized late at night. Early the next morning I called Duke - after our go-to electrician shared he couldn't come out until the next day - and Duke was able to come out the same day within hours. He fixed our issue within minutes. Was incredibly professional and informative. Highly recommend and can't wait to use again in the future!
Duke and team are top-notch electricians. I'd highly recommend working with them. They are knowledgeable, creative, professional, honest, kind people who take the time to do the job right and ensure their customers are satisfied. They did a full house rewire, added a sub-panel and changed out the lighting at our house, in addition to completing many miscellaneous jobs. Throughout the 6 weeks in which Duke was completing our project, he and his team went above and beyond to meet timelines, as we had multiple vendors in and out of the house during that time. Hire them, you won't be disappointed!
We had Duke came in to install a new NEMA1 14-50 breaker and plug for EV charging station. He came to inspect the breaker and found out some issue with wire being left open and helped me get it sorted out with the home builder.
When he actually came to to the installation for my Lutron smart switches. We thought that I had not purchased enough for the two-way but Duke came prepared and had some new ones so we proceed with the installation right away without delay.
We are very happy with his service and will use again in the future.

I started working with Duke when we had thoughts about upgrading our electrical panel. Duke answered the phone immediately and provided very detailed answers on what might be needed in order to do it safely and correctly.
He even scheduled time to come by free of charge to take a look at the house so he could be sure about what was needed. At the time, I decided to hold off and thanked him for his time.
Over the next few months, I would call him every once in a while to ask random questions about electrical work, and Duke always answered quickly and in detail.
When we finally decided to get the panel done, Duke immediately ordered the panel, submitted a permit application with the city, and worked with PG&E to schedule a power shutoff. This was all done very fast, which was surprising as we knew that these things can take a while.
The day before the power was to be shut off, Duke and team came to do all of the prep work to fit the new panel (enlarging the siding, ground rods, etc.) so everything would be good to go the next day.
At 7AM the next day, Duke provided us with a battery powered generator so we could continue working from home. The power was promptly switched off, and work was completed within a few hours.
From the minute I spoke to Duke, I got the feeling that he had done this many times before and knew exactly what he was doing. The installation was extremely high quality and the process was seamless.
Duke does high quality work and knows the process very well. I felt comfortable working with him from the very start. Would absolutely work with Duke again for anything. He does everything the right way.
By the way, he is ALWAYS on time. Usually there a few minutes before he's scheduled to show up.

A couple of years ago our oven hood stopped working. Duke came out, but unfortunately he couldn't trace the fault due to the difficult to access poor wiring (despite being a relatively new house). Fortunately, for us the oven hood started working again so we all assumed it was loose wiring.
Recently (a few year later), the problem happened again (ugh!). Duke fit us in to his very busy schedule. But given his business success (and obvious many satisfied customers) he was able to utilize a very expensive scanner he purchased for use in such difficult jobs. He and his associate, Ben, did a great and expedient job finding the faulty wiring (which was not to code!) and fixed the problem, including making the solution safe. In addition, they did not need to remove any of the expensive marble tile we have inside the house nor any exterior stucco.
We have used Duke in the past for other electric work, used him for this job, and would recommend and use him again.
Duke was very responsive, helpful, upfront and honest. Even though I did not have him complete any services/repairs he was able to come out to get me an estimate which was a very competitive price compared to others that I had received quotes from. Duke will be the 1st on my list once I am ready to perform my upgrades. 10/10 will recommend!
Duke was very responsive when we called him with a question regarding our microwave. He gave us an explanation over the phone about what he thought the problem was and what his plan of action was.
He arrived on time with another gentleman and they were very respectful of our property.
Overall I was very impressed with the service received. I would call them again for future issues as well as happily refer them to friends.

Duke's response rate is excellent. He got back to me right away on my inquiry about my outdoor electrical project which required 5 new electrical outlets for an outdoor kitchen, pergola lighting, and landscape lighting. He came the very next day to scope out the project and provided a quote the same day that he honored to the exact amount. I compared Duke's quote with 2 other quotes and I felt that Duke's pricing was the most competitive and fair, and the quality of their work is very high! Would definitely recommend Duke if you are looking for a fair and honest price, and a high quality job.
I appreciate Duke's responsiveness, that he makes himself available and makes adjustments for your schedule, and that he does reliable and trustworthy work. His technicians Eddie and Felipe are dependable, very professional, bilingual, and execute every detail according to plan. Every time Eddie and Felipe were onsite they did exceptional work. I was extremely pleased with how competent and knowledgeable the entire team was and we're really happy with the end results.
This is a follow up on the previous review which was posted last Friday. After posting a one star review on hearing no response from Duke a couple days ago, he responded immediately and set up an appointment the very next day-today.
He gave us an honest opinion for our rental and advised us to get 2 other estimates before deciding on which way we want to do.

Duke is a very knowledgable electrician. He was very quick to respond and always listened to what I wanted and didn't try to push me in any one direction. His team was very careful when working and did cleaned up after their own messes. I am very satisfied with the result of his work.
Duke and his team did awesome job upgrading our electric panel from 100amp to 200amp. Duke took care of permits, inspections, power down/up and stucco patching. Very knowledgable electrician. Explained everything in detail before the project. It was a bit of a complex project as it required installing a new sub-panel. Duke installed a 100A sub-panel in our garage from the main panel to install a car charger. Very clean work completed efficiently. Arrived on time on the the day of the appointment and finished everything seamlessly and perfectly. I had spoken to a couple other electricians but everyone else was offering a far more complicated and compromising solutions. Duke's solution was the right one and future proofs our panel to install solar later if we want to. I would recommend Duke for any electrical work.
We recently had an electric car charger installed, which necessitated a panel upgrade from 150 amp to 200 amp service for our home in Saratoga. We chose Duke Electric to do the work and we are extremely happy with the result. Duke is experienced and organized and conducted this very complicated process perfectly. He told us what was going to happen and at each step and it went just as described and on-time. Also his team members are great: hardworking, knowledgeable and friendly.
His team visited 3 times for the purposes of the electrical panel upgrade:
1. First visit 2 weeks ahead of the upgrade to open up the stucco around our old panel so he would have time to find a larger panel to fit in the same area between the studs with minimum impact to our wall and roof
2. Second visit one day ahead of the upgrade to do all possible prep work
3. Third visit the day of actual panel installation which involved coordinating inspections by PGE and the city and turning the power off and on
Since we are working from home, Duke brought a portable generator for our wifi and PCs so we could keep working during the hours the power was off.
The upgrade went so well that we asked him to come back again to do more work around our house including replacement of fluorescent can lights with LED can lights, installation of another electrical outlet and replacement of some bathroom vent fans and light fixtures.
At all times Duke and his team bent over backwards to make sure we got what we wanted. Just one example - was the LED can lights. Duke put 2 types in his bid, one type for the kitchen and one for the bathrooms. I thought the number of lumens per fixture in the bid was too low in comparison to the fixtures they were replacing. Duke thought I would find the ones in his bid appropriate and I would find higher lumen fixtures to be too bright. He wanted to make sure I was happy so he brought all 3 types (the two he recommended and one with the lumens I thought I wanted) and temporarily installed them in the same room in our home so I could see them all at the same time in comparison to my old fixtures and make a choice. Of course he was completely right!
We will continue to call Duke Electric when we need any electrical work done in the future.

Duke helped us install a new outlet at our house. He was very professional, responsive, and honest. I was very satisfied with his work and would highly recommend him.
Duke is working with us since we bought our house 4 years ago.
We had been doing remodeling over the years, so he did big and small jobs for us.
He did an amazing work in our house. Before it was dark and boring, now it's well lighted.
He likes to say that I'm one of his most super picky clients, but I can say the same about him. He is impecable with his work. He is always there to help us with advices.
His price is fair and his work amazing. Some the jobs he did... recessed lights, ceiling fan, bathroom fan, speakers, fireplace, new outlets, updated circuit breaker.

Duke installed 27 recessed lights in my house. He charges 170 per light. Willow Glen Electric charges 190 a light and Alltap Electric charges 135 a light. I chose Duke for the job because he was recommended on Next Door and has a high rating on yelp (so it seems).

Had Duke come to install a charging station. He was very responsive and friendly. The work was done perfectly and the place was very clean. I was satisfied overall and would use his service again.
Duke and his team completed everything on my wish list. I received other quotes and I consider Duke's quote to be fair, if a little lighter on details initially than I like, but he filled in the gaps after asking for clarification. I like that Duke's team took pride in where to put the new subpanel, outlets, garage lights, etc., to make sure everything was neat and symmetrical. The County smoothly signed off on the new breaker box and 220V outlet, which we'll soon be using for an electrified vehicle.
He did a good job. He was prompt. His price was inline with everyone else (everybody is charging a high price these days) And he fixed the problem very quickly
Duke answered my call right away. He asked me to text him my address which I did. He said he could be at our house at 1:00 p.m. then when he realized he would be a few minutes late he text me right away. He found our problem with in minutes of arrival and fixed it. They're both super friendly, knowledgeable, and do high quality work. After completing the job they leaving the site spotless, you can tell they take their time and care about the job.
The project estimates were very reasonable compared to other electricians and Duke is always willing to accommodate to your needs which I really appreciated. When things come up, Duke takes the time to walk you through the work and your options so there are no surprises.
The project consisted of installation & removal of pendant and vanity lights. The work was done faster than the estimate and I'm super happy with the work.
I highly recommend Duke Electric for their excellent response time and dependability, communication, and outstanding service. Duke and his employee Benny diagnosed and fixed our kitchen outlet wiring problem and separate kitchen electrical panel issues promptly and in a very professional manner. He also identified a major problem that we did not know about: our 57 year old home has a Zinsco electrical panel that was recalled within the last decade for design shortcomings and malfunctioning issues (linked to thousands of fires within the last 20 years). We should probably install for improved safety reasons a larger amperage electrical panel based on our home's size and electrical needs. We will probably have Duke Electric install this replacement panel.

I was having my kitchen remodeled and was going to need some electrical work done.
The gas oven was going to be replaced with an electric oven and moved to a new location. His input was critical to the layout of the kitchen. I was also going to replace my fluorescent lights.
Duke was very honest on where I could relocate the new oven and saved me a TON of money, as the location I originally wanted, under the gas stovetop, was too convoluted and expensive. His confirmation on my second location was perfect and allowed me to move forward with the kitchen remodel.
He replaced my fluorescent lighting and made recommendations on where and how many LED recessed lights I needed, plus he replaced the under cabinets lights and small lights in my glass cabinets. He had a great drywall person come over the same day to patch the ceiling. All this was done within 4 hours! I also decided to have the older recessed lights, in the family room, replaced with LED lights. He did a fabulous job on all the lighting
Duke showed up on time, was very friendly and professional, and was always in contact with me. He provides quality work at good prices. I plan to use him for other electrical projects at my home. I highly recommend Duke Electrical.

I had a great experience working with Duke on getting recessed lighting installed in my new house. We had spoken to several electricians in the area and received quotes from them all - Duke impressed us because you could tell that he cared about getting the job done properly and correctly. He gave us suggestions for our original plan, such that we ended up deciding to change the installation locations based on his advice, as well as remove additional beams from the ceilings so that everything would look better. His input is valuable and you can tell that not only does he know what he's talking about, but he also cares about his clients. He was quick to respond to our questions and even called us late at night to confirm work details. The quote he gave us was reasonable - not the cheapest and not the most expensive ones we had received.
On the day of installation, Duke and his partner showed up on time and finished the work promptly. There's open communication throughout the entire process, which I appreciate because these projects can get quite complex. Very happy with the results, would recommend Duke Electric.

I called Duke on a Wednesday for a quote to do recessed lights in my new two-story house. He followed up with a text message and we arranged for a free in-person consultation for Saturday. He was 1 of 3 electricians I reached out to for a quote, he was 1 of 2 that responded timely and of the two he was the higher quote, but the better choice. I decided to go with Duke because:
1) He came to the house and walked through each area explaining his process and approach which informed the proposal he later provided. Through text message he gave a 'cost per light' quote to give us a sense of the total cost of the project, then while at the house we talked about the number of lights that would be optimal for each area of the house.
2) He was able to squeeze in my project, between two other projects he had scheduled, for a completion date of within two weeks from the time I initially called. I called Jan-15 and the lights were installed by the 29th.
What made me feel good about working with Duke:
1) He got us quotes for a drywall/paint person to patch up holes and they worked together.
2) He spent the entire first day mapping out the ceilings and worked with us to try out a few different placement ideas for the more problematic areas of the house.
3) He encouraged us to get quotes from other electricians so we would become more knowledgable in the process and feel good about the decisions we were making.
What you should know: We got our contract (proposal for work) and invoice when the work was almost done. A lot of the decisions and changes we made were verbal and on occasion recapped through text message. We were comfortable with that approach since it was within a short timeframe.
Duke and his team removed and installed two ceiling fans and troubleshooted another fan with a sloped ceiling that was not level. He was fair and honest about what could and couldn't be done to fix the previously installed ceiling. He did a great job overall. Highly recommend .
Duke installed an EV charger at our house. He did a wonderful job and explained to us all of our options first. Very knowledgeable electrician and was honest. Also, he was reliable and on time. duke did a great job at my house about 5 years ago, replacing an old breaker box and installed some new outlets in my garage, getting every up to code. very friendly guy and very upfront and honest and gives a fair quote.
the reason why I am writing this review is because today a section of my house had the power go out. I checked the breaker box and there was nothing tripped and I couldn't figure out the issue. I called Duke and he was willing to come out, but asked me to try to locate the CGFI outlet in the garage and try to reset that. Its something that he installed that trips when it gets hot outside, and it's required by code. I didn't know I had a CGFI outlet in my garage, but sure enough that was the issue and he didn't charge me. I didn't realize that one tripped cgfi outlet could impact several other outlets, but that was the issue.

We had a fantastic experience working with Duke for our kitchen remodel and addition of recessed lighting in our family room. He was very responsive and came out to give us a estimate right away. He was very patient with our schedule which required him to visit at different stages of our remodel and provided advice from previous projects he had completed.
For our kitchen remodel, he installed under cabinet lighting as well as recessed lighting in the center and over the sink. All were installed on dimmers to allow for maximum lighting effect. He also fixed and replaced a number of plugs that had not been working.
For our family room, Duke installed recessed lighting in 4 different sections (over the fireplace, over the couch, in front of our tv and in our dining area) all on dimmers for maximum flexibility. He consulted with us on the appropriate light placement making sure there was no alignment conflict with the lights that we had added in the kitchen.
We absolutely love the results!

We needed to install recessed lighting for 3 rooms (2 kids room + office). Duke responded to my request promptly, came over the next day, and talked us down from installing 14 total recessed lighting to 12. Duke also came over to let us choose which which lighting we really wanted, and pros cons of each. Duke and his crew were very professional, tidy and quick. The job was done within a week from requesting a quote to completion. We're very happy with the service.
Although Duke's quote isn't the cheapest, we trust them the most and he's honest and upfront.
Duke and his team helped me with a super clean install of wall mounted Sonos surround speakers. They helped figure out placement with a pretty tricky scenario and the pricing was competitive. Very satisfied, would definitely recommend him and his team, and I'll be calling him up again if I need any work done in the future.
Duke did a great job installing a new electrical sub-panel, in preparation for my Tesla solar panel + Powerwall battery installation! I spoke with 5 electricians and Duke was the only one who knew how to handle Tesla's requirements without incurring the cost, delay, and hassle of upgrading the main panel. He was responsive and kept me posted throughout the process from quote through inspection, which was surprisingly complicated because we couldn't speak directly to Tesla's engineer. Duke also put a lot of attention into making the installation on the side of my house look clean and neat, which I really appreciated. Would highly recommend Duke to others!
I was doing renovations on my Victorian and I tried to replace a switch for a fan/light/heater. Had Duke and his team install a 100A sub panel in my garage so that we could install an EV Plug for my car. Duke actually suggested that I install the sub panel versus just the plug in my driveway. This way I had the ability to build out a future workshop in my garage and the price to do it was not that much more. The team did a fantastic job, clean work, straight conduit runs and so far everything works. Thanks again Duke and team and looking forward to future work.

Duke and his partner were absolutely amazing to work with. I had been wanting a ceiling fan in our master bedroom for years but never got around to it. I sent a request for an estimate and Duke got back to me VERY QUICKLY with a phone call. I got busy and didn't get a chance to call or text him back but luckily he reached out again to see if I still needed help. Then when he came he was soooo nice to work with. He explained what needed to happen and having him in our house (during pandemic) felt extremely safe. They both wore face masks and were very considerate with all their advice and help. Duke is also quite funny and genuinely cares about who he helps. Our ceiling fan looks and runs so well and have Duke Electric to thank for that. I have to add if there are ANY bad reviews, they are simply not accurate and are just a grumpy client who was being unreasonable about their requests and looking to blame. We've used Duke multiple times over two homes in the past 6 years. He's replaced an electrical panel (with permit), replaced light switches, replaced a broken bathroom fan, moved electrical boxes, and most recently replaced several light fixtures in our home (wall sconces, ceiling lights, pendants, and chandeliers). He also has a network of dry wall specialists who he works with which makes things easy to coordinate if you need to move light fixtures and patch up the old holes. We have used Duke electric for installing a ceiling fan in a bedroom and to install exhaust fans in the bathrooms. They are reasonably priced, punctual and detail oriented. Communication is clear and straightforward and they present the available options in an easily understandable way. I was especially impressed by how clean they left the rooms after the work. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for all electrical work at home .

Duke Electric installed a new electric panel and mounted a TV over the fireplace in our home. Duke was great at explaining the scope and different options for each project. He was much more detailed in the plan than other electricians we received quotes from. He quoted a competitive price for the work which included all of the work including patching the drywall and stucco. Duke and his crew completed the projects in one day and did an excellent job. We have textured dry wall and stucco and Duke's team did an amazing job of matching the existing texture. Duke returned after the stucco and paint had dried to reinstall a rain gutter that had been removed for the project. I highly recommend Duke Electric.
Behind with review. Week of Thanksgiving all electrical went out on kitchen island with outlet flashing and unable to reset. Then whole side of outlets on kitchen walls went out. We called Duke and he came out same day to check problem. Able to troubleshoot and also able to figure out why our microwave kept going out on one outlet that we had 2 others come out to look at that were not repaired properly and had ongoing issues. Had given up on trying to repair this until recent problem arose.Duke got everything to work. Changed a breaker, fixed the problem with the GIF, set the other outlets to code fixed problem with the microwave outlet always going out and changed out some lights for us. There have been no problems since. We will use Duke again for any electrical needs. Highly recommend. He is very knowledgeable and prompt. Appreciate good service hard to find nowadays.

I recently bought a house in San Jose and did a total remodel which meant outfitting the entire 2000 square foot home with recessed lighting, installing several outlets and rewiring electric cables for a new kitchen layout. Duke installed over 40 recessed lights in my new home. He was always on time, ahead of schedule and highly professional. He always insisted on doing things the right way; up to code and never cutting corners. I highly appreciated his attention to detail and his ability to foresee problems before they arose which was critical since the order of work is super important when it comes to construction. We asked for an estimate for installation of 3 electrical outlets to our garage plus moving the watering system control panel to a different spot. They responded very quickly, came next day on time for estimate. Very pleasant manners and they have their masks on all the time. They gave a reasonable quote and date for service.

Attitude and motivation are suspects. Didn't confirm the time I offered until I asked again. Showed up a little late, and within first 2 minutes, started criticizing wiring (I later found out that he was wrong at least in on one account) and bragging about his work.
I quickly realized and asked him if he was interested in the work. He said No.
We were done in 5 minutes. It appeared he was never interested in the job and ended up wasting our time. Perhaps he is most interested in the low-voltage wiring gigs but I was very clear that that work was done and that I was looking help with home theater.
I've been hiring Duke for years now, and he is always really reliable at any work assigned. From simple troubleshooting stuff to full electrical service like installing surveillance camera around the house; very professional and he's always fast on scheduling and completion of the job.
He's friendly and well priced for the area; very satisfied with his services.

I hired Duke to install recessed lights on my wooden vaulted ceiling, which takes more skill than installing them on a regular flat drywall ceiling. Duke was the only electrician I found on Yelp who had photos of recessed lights installed on vaulted ceilings, and I can confirm that he did a beautiful job with mine (and at a competitive rate). I appreciate that Duke is passionate about what he does, and treats lighting not just as a day job, but as a craft.
I contacted Duke on a Wednesday, I had some super grand plans but really *needed* a grounded outlet installed in my home office ASAP. Duke quoted me a fair price for the one outlet (given my schedule requirements), was able to be back the following Monday to renovate an existing outlet. I really appreciated the quick turnaround time and Duke willing to squeeze in such a small job. Definitely looking to hire Duke in the future.

I was trying to find someone to install recessed lighting in my vaulted/slanted ceiling and install a center light in a bedroom. My husband is very picky about electrical work. (If something goes wrong, a fire can start! You have to be very careful!) My husband is also very cautious by nature and was insistent about doing everything by the book, such as obtaining permits.
Most electricians shy away from obtaining a permit, insisting that such thing is not necessary for such a small job. I even had one rudely ask me, who told you needed a permit!? When I called Duke, Duke said, Of course! If you need one, we can get one. He wisely advised me that since he is the contractor, that he should be the one to obtain the permit, not me.
Obtaining permits and waiting for the inspector to come is such a pain, but Duke was willing. He said, It's my job! Electrical Permits are about $300 to obtain from the City of San Jose. But to us, a permit was an absolute necessity, and we were willing to pay the price for the permit and for the service of obtaining one.
I was impressed by Duke's knowledge as well. He noticed that our wiring was aluminum (not good!) and since all new lights use copper wiring, he pointed out that simply twisting the two metals together will create arcing. He addressed the problem appropriately and was willing to show and explain to my husband about what he was doing.
Overall, I was impressed with his workmanship and professionalism. He worked fast and was very patient with us. We can rest easy knowing that all our newly installed lights were up to code. Thank you, Duke!

You need your 'go to' peeps and Duke is my 'go to' electrician. Over the years he's done big and small jobs for me. He is responsive, nice, professional and reasonably priced for quality work. 8 years ago he came with my general contractor during a kitchen remodel - he did all the recessed lights and the required hard wiring of the smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. Over the years he's installed my electric car charger (run the lines) and various outlets.
I highly recommend Duke - great guy, great electrician.

Job quality is ok (that's the extra star comes from), but customer service is horrible.
1. He always tries to squeeze you for more money, for example: he will charge you labor and gas for the parts he got. Hilarious, we are working with lots of contractors, all licensed btw, and none of them do that except him.
2. He is not honest. We asked him to replace a GFCI, simple job, right? But he kept blaming our previous GC, which is funny because the thing he blame to are on different circuit, and finding excuses not to do it, also saying something wrong and he needed more time in next visit (cost more of course). Even though we had already paid him for that. Finally, my wife find the trapped GFCI in garage on the same circuit and he was saying: I am about to tell you that. No wonder he planed to do diagnosis next time and charge for that. Poor acting.
3. He left bathroom switch cover open when he left, but power was still there! Horrible and extremely dangerous!
4. He didn't show respect to our home, using bathroom w/o asking, throw away trash in the toilet, shoes on the carpet. Horrible.
Overall, I won't recommend him.
Very knowledgeable, has good ideas that fit the need within existing infrastructure. Punctual and responsive. Will definitely hire again.

I've hired Duke to do numerous jobs at my house. He updated the lighting in my basement and added additional outlets. He installed a new sub panel in my house to replace a fuse box. He installed a new 240VAC circuit and ran the line for a new A/C unit. He installed Nest Protect Fire and CO detectors. He replaced worn out outlets. He re-routed overhead wiring to underground between my house and garage, installed a sub panel, re-wired the ancient garage wiring and installed new lighting. He also installed an electric car charger.

Duke was absolutely phenomenal to work with. We had a serious electrical issue at our house for which PGE needed to shut off our power and recommended we replace our circuit board. Duke answered the phone on a Saturday morning and was able to help us through the entire process which included filing a claim with insurance, obtaining permits through our city (which Duke took care of), skillfully installing the new circuit board, and working with PGE to get our power restored. Each step of the way he kept us in the loop and made sure that we were informed of the next steps. He did an absolutely phenomenal job and made a stressful process as manageable as possible. Best customer service around!!!! Called Duke Electric to perform several electrical needs for me that I have been putting off for years. Duke was very friendly and prompt in responding to my initial request. Showed up on time and went above and beyond fixing each item, even upgrading a few at no extra charge! Finish all the work on time and without any issues. Couldn't be happier with the overall experience. Highly recommend Duke and his team!
I hired Duke to straighten out the wiring in a home in Willow Glen and then install several smart lights and a Nest thermostat. He was on time, helpful (making great suggestions that saved me money), efficient, clean, and gave me a very fair price. Then, our natural gas generator in Saratoga didn't kick in when the electricity went out and Duke came to the rescue. He identified the problem and fixed it right away. His ability to think outside the box to solve problems is great. He is a real expert when it comes to electrical issues and he is knowledgeable about all of the latest gadgets.
We hired Duke to do a complete rewiring of our home including new outlets and ceiling lights in every room, a car charger, new panel and sub-panel. I could not be happier with him and his work. He was always easy to communicate with, on time and very clear about costs and details of the job. Duke helped me through the permit and inspection process for the work and was very helpful in making decisions about lighting choices and placement.

Duke came out a few weeks ago to install a 40Amp EV charger. He arrived promptly at the appointed time and job was neatly done. The home charger was seldom used as I do most of my charging at work. Last weekend, after plugged in for 15 mins I received a no charge error on my app and checked. To my horror, no juice was flowing to the charger. I immediately called Duke. It was Sunday so I didn't expect him to come and asked if he could squeeze in some time following Monday. Guess what, he stopped by late afternoon to check on situation. Talk about service and standing behind your work! Anyway it was a quick fix, his assistance was a little sloppy in not screwing one of the wires tight enough, so came loose.

Duke is a pro. He upgraded my 100amp electrical panel to 200 for a two-story, 55 year old home. This involved breaking some drywall inside the house as well as the stucco outside the house for the panel. He hired separate contractors to repair both (part of my negotiated contract with him). This did not include repainting which I was ok with. This was a tough job. It involved new piping from the roof down to the first floor, inside the wall (no visible pipes). In addition to that, he took care of scheduling PG&E and the permit needed by the city. I did nothing.
I also had him add a 100amp subpanel in the garage for a electric car charger. This meant running cable from the main panel underneath the house to the opposite side and securing pipes along the wall to exactly where I wanted the subpanel.
Duke used top quality materials and finished the job in three days. He had one other person to help him and they were both very polite, on-time, and cleaned up each night.
In terms of price, Duke was not the cheapest, but he was the most upfront and honest. He was very responsive throughout, calling me back or texting within minutes if not right away.

I had Duke install an electrical line and the related outlet in my home. When I called him he was responsive and came to see the job site the same day. He gave me a quote, provided the insurance certificates and set an appointment to perform the job.
He showed up on time, brought all the necessary material, coordinated with the other contractors and performed the job very smoothly. Duke minimized the number of cuts needed to install the electrical line. After the line was installed, he fixed the sheetrock very well with very roust patches. Needless to say, the electric line works great. Payment was according to the quote and was painless.

We recently purchased an Eichler house and hired Duke to do all the electrical work, in the kitchen, showers, main panel, secondary panel and more. Duke was very clear in relation to costs and labor details. He is very meticulous both in relation to his work and the works of others. He helped us a lot in both the big and small details, beyond his work framework. He and his staff work very clean, meticulous, tidy and take care of every detail. He was available throughout the project both by phone and in messages. We are very happy that we chose him. He is without a doubt one of the best, responsible, and honest contractors we have worked with!!
Duke and Benny did an amazing job installing multiple 240v power circuits and replacing some old 110v sockets and switches. They did great work and went out of their way to make sure everything was safe, nice looking and functioned perfectly. Duke gave a *very* fair price and were able to fit me in to their schedule right away. I will definitely use them again, and highly recommend them!
Duke missed two confirmed appointments, the first one not even giving advanced notice. For the second, he changed the time to later cancel it. He might be good, but I didn't have the opportunity to actually see it.
Duke did outstanding work wiring my home, primarily for ethernet and phone. He went above and beyond to do the job right, not just the minimum required. He took extra time and care when fixing a short in my doorbell to avoid opening the walls. I highly recommend Duke.

We recommend Duke Electric for anyone! We've already given his card to 3 different neighbors and friends. From the beginning, Duke responded promptly to all electronic messages and texts and he continued to do so throughout the project. We had our entire house rewired from the old 1940's knob and tube...new panel, outlets replaced, outlets added, garage, ceiling fans, external stuff like motion sensors, our electric car charging station...the works! We are so happy! I worked from home (and the car) with 2 cats during the whole project and Duke and Benny (his super friendly and skilled assistant electrician) couldn't have been better about it. So considerate about everything. They are true professionals. Duke found a number of things done in past projects and always made us aware and found a way to remedy the situation with as little hit to the budget as possible. We can finally sleep at night knowing we have invested wisely and have a safe and super comfortable house with all the lightings and electrical updates!!!

As a former electrician I am extremely picky about the quality of the work for remodel or other construction projects. Duke replaced the electrical service on my Eichler and ran a line to the other side of my house for an A/C and hot tub subpanel.
Duke did an incredible job with extremely high quality materials and perfectionist quality labor. Unlike a lot of contractors, Duke still does most of the work himself so everything is perfect. He also responded to all my questions and requests, letting me pick out the type of panel I wanted and putting up with all sorts of picky details that I wanted. Price was reasonable too.

Duke is a nice person, efficient, friendly and I'm very happy with the work he did today. He replaced 12 volt canister lights with 120 volt LED style. I thought his price was fair and he communicated right away, with some follow-up by text so I could send photos, etc. He's licensed, insured and I found him to be very pleasant to work with. I'd certainly call him again!
Duke recently re-wired our entire (built in 1940) house to replace knob and tube and do the lighting for our kitchen remodel. He was always on top of communication, on-time, professional and gave us the best quote out of 4 for a whole house re-wire and panel replacement. AND he gave us good advice about some of the other work we needed to have done and referred us to some other professional tradespeople for some of those other things, such as dry wall installation and patching. We are very happy we were introduced to Duke and we recommend him whole heartedly. If you need an electrician, you cannot go wrong with Duke!

After years of working in a dark kitchen with an old fluorescent fixture, my wife and mother-in-law finally got fed-up. Demands were made, more light in the kitchen or no more food! And to be perfectly honest, I like to eat, so off to yelp to find a solution.
I contacted electricians and a few handymen. Duke can over, gave me a fair quote (as compared to others) and I could tell by his huge work van, that he meant business. He followed up with me multiple times giving me status updates on parts and timing. He and his crew came over, laid down plastic everywhere to contain the mess, and did the work.
Duke flipped the light switch and it was like the clouds parted and the sun was shining in my kitchen. Wife and mother-in-law were super happy, which made me happy. Most important is food is being cooked.

We had Duke come over to install ceiling fans at home. He did an excellent job and stayed till he configured all the remotes to work with the multiple fans. His pricing was also reasonable.
I'm definitely going to have him come back again because we need two more fans installed.

I had been wanting to get recessed lighting in my family room for at least 3 years and had gone back and forth on it. I'm a bit of a DIY type person and like to do some work myself but wanted to hire someone to handle this job. It's a two story house, so there's no attic above the family room. I called Duke and he got back to me very quickly with an estimate and answered the questions I had. I wanted to hire someone who had done this a lot so they know where to place the lights in the room and could work with me on placement. His assistant Benny came over, did the measurements and allowed us to think about placement. We then wanted to adjust the placement slightly and worked with Duke on the day of install to ensure everything was setup in the locations we liked. We had (6) 6 lights installed, (2) 3 lights, one box updated to a double to accommodate a new switch. Duke also had recommendations for which smart dimmer switch I should use as well as what ceiling fan I should get as we replaced the ceiling fan in the family room as well. The patch work came out very good as well, the texturing looks very smooth and blends in nicely. Beyond just the work, Duke and Benny are very easy to talk to and very professional. I would definitely recommend him and will be working with him for future needs that I want to hire someone for!

The 5 star reviews for Duke are getting a bit redundant, but nonetheless, here's another. I hired Duke to run a new dedicated circuit to a bath for a GFI hair dryer outlet & add a switch for a new exhaust fan. He & another contractor weren't enamored of the quality or age of my Stab-Lok sub-panel in the garage. I got a quote from Duke and another contractor to replace it. His quote seemed reasonable along with the bathroom work I wanted done.
We agreed to the job & Duke had the permit within 24 hours & started the job the day after. Power was off in the house for only about 5 hours to replace the sub-panel. He also found a couple of wire routing items that weren't to his liking once he took some of the sheet rock off around the panel. It was clear that the items now visible would require more time & parts expense, but he refused my offer for additional money above our contract price. When he was finished, he'd buried two separate wire runs inside the wall that the previous contractors put on the outside, because they were too lazy to do the job correctly.
Duke had the complete job done in 2 days & wanted to make sure my wife was happy with the bathroom switch type, which he changed out at her request.
I can highly recommend Duke. Stand-up guy. No nonsense. Started and finished quickly and didn't run off to another job before mine was done. His workmanship was very professional.
I recommend him without hesitation.
Duke Electric installed two gound lines and upgraded the electric panel of my house. It finished within two days and passed city's inspection. I am satisfied with their work.

I live in a townhouse that is 30 years old and has three bathrooms with electrical outlets that do not have reset/test buttons. One day, all of the outlets stopped working. Last weekend, I was calling multiple electricians listed on Yelp. After leaving many messages to various businesses, getting quoted $245+ and/or not obtaining an appointment with a weeks time, I came across Duke Electric and couldn't be happier with my overall experience.
I thought I spoke to Duke myself, not 100% sure, but nonetheless, I was very pleased to talk to someone who was very honest with me. He told me his service charge upfront and even mentioned how he is booked for the day, but was willing to explain to me what the problem was in our 10 minute phone conversation. He was patient and told me what I needed to look for on the property to reset the outlet. As soon as I was able to locate the button, I tested all the outlets and everything worked just fine.
Although, I found a solution to the problem with the assistance of this electrician over the phone, the fact that he was honest about saving me money, and how this was a very simple fix, I am grateful. As a previous homeowner, I know how frustrating it can be to find a handyman/electrician, etc. when there is an emergency. And on top of that, finding someone who is honest and will get the job done right the first time can present a challenge if you're not careful. As all situations are different, I hope Yelpers will not use my review to try and get free information from this company to aide in their electrical issues. Rather, just know that if you choose this company for your electrical needs, you will be dealing with a knowledgeable professional and honest salesman.

This is the 2nd time we've used Duke. 1st time was about a year ago on December 23rd (day before Christmas Eve). I was out of town for business. My wife called and said I heard a pop and now the lights are out in the house, its completely dark Duke came by and make sure the house was safe and got the lights turned back on. Later he installed a new ceiling fan which had shorted and caused the blackout. Can't thank him enough for helping out my wife while I'm 4,000 miles away during the holidays.
2nd Time:
Duke was available to meet on short notice to provide an estimate. He made room on his schedule to fit us in on our day off. Him and his team are extremely nice and professional.
Instead of showing up and performing the work. He took the time to map out where our recessed lights would go and make sure we were happy. We asked a ton of questions! He was nice enough to reconfigure once or twice until we were happy.
Repairs were completed correct the first time and very quick. He installed 8 recessed lights and an additional outlet and was done before lunch time.
Cant recommend Duke enough. Will definitely refer to family and friends. We will definitely use Duke in the future.

Once we purchased our house early this year, We hired him for lots of main electric work such as upgrading the main panel from 100amp to 200amp, recessed lighting for the whole house, running new dedicated circuits for several places, etc. He's very honesty, knowledgeable, and responsive for our questions and requests. We called Duke when we needed to upgrade our main panel on our house. He was prompt in returning my calls, showed up on time (or early!) to every scheduled meeting, and was very professional. Duke had a lot of experience working with the inspectors at the City of Campbell and did all of the leg work to get the permit himself. He finished all of the work in record time and much to our satisfaction. He was also competitively priced with every quote that we received for the work. We'd recommend Duke for any electrical project and plan to use him again in the future.
I contacted Duke to replace the Zinsco electric panel of my house. Duke patiently educated me on the complex process of replacing a panel, getting permits from city, inspection approvals from PG&E. I sent pictures and he gave me a quote. Duke got the city and PG&E permits, came ahead of scheduled time and started the work. Duke found that the house grounding is not proper and installed the electric grounding as well as grounded the water heater. He scheduled inspections with PG&E and city and even got a contractor to patch the stucco after Panel installation. What impressed me is that I didn't have to bother or be involved in any of this process and Duke constantly updated me on the progress. With the high quality of work and complex process involved in permits, inspections etc, his rates are very reasonable. Highly recommend Duke Electric.
Duke Electric replaced fluorescent canned lights with LED lights and repaired a pendant light that had stopped working. I was very impressed with their responsiveness, and the fact that they made an appointment for the next day. Duke and his associate worked very quickly and efficiently to do the installation. He diagnosed the problem with the pendant light immediately - provided the necessary part and repaired that day. Prior to starting the job he clearly communicated the costs. The other 3 electricians I contacted were either non-responsive, outrageously expensive or could not provide a clear estimate of the costs - Duke Electric excelled in all 3 areas and exceeded my expectations! I have a bigger job pending, and I would definitely hire Duke Electric to do additional work in my home.
This is the 2nd time I used Duke for my home. Duke is a super smart guy and knows how to do the work exactly per code and his work is done with a high degree of professionalism. I recommend Duke without any hesitation. And it also helps that his prices are reasonable.

Duke was very responsive to my request for a quote to install a Tesla wall charger. He arrived early and the installation of a 240 volt 50 amp breaker plus conduit in the attic went flawlessly. He is an absolute perfectionist. I was extremely pleased and would highly recommend Duke.
We hired Duke Electric to fix a wiring problem in our master bathroom. They very quickly identified the issue, and came up with a short term solution. They were able to come back out and put in place a permeant fix. Not only did they do a fantastic job with the wiring, but he also coordinated the repair work (sheet rock/painting). We then hired Duke to replace our main electrical panel. They showed up on time, completed the work, and were on top of dealing with the city for the permits. I would 100% use Duke Electric again next time we need such work!

I wish I could give Duke Electric a good review. After all, when I called my repair work was scheduled just a few days out, so I was impressed with the responsiveness. The problem was... Duke was a no show. After waiting an hour I tried to call but the voicemail box was full. Then I texted him. I waited 2 hours then called someone else. When Duke called back the next day, I told him I had scheduled another company to do the work.
Duke has lots of good reviews on Yelp so I assume he knows his stuff. But I was stood up and thought people should know this.
The fluorescent light in my bathroom wasn't working so I purchased and replaced two new fluorescent bulbs. It still didn't work so I called Duke Electric Monday morning at 8:20am. Duke answered the phone and said he could be at my house between 10:00am - 2:00pm the same day. He requested I text my phone number so he could text me to give me a 1/2 hour notice that he was on his way. He texted at 10:10am he was on his way, and left my house around 11:10 with the problem resolved. He was very prompt, courteous and professional. I would highly recommend Duke Electric. He has already responded, resolved the problem and onto his next job while I am still waiting for return calls from two other companies to explain my issue and request a repair appointment.

Duke completed some electrical upgrades at our home recently. He uncovered complications while installing a new panel and worked overtime on a weekend to resolve the issues before PG&E and the city inspector arrived on Monday. His pricing was fair, and he was up-front about the additional costs due to the unforeseen complications. I am very pleased with Duke's work and professionalism.
I was fortunate to be referred to Duke who diagnosed and corrected a faulty wiring install by another contractor. Duke was prompt, his fees reasonable and he does excellent work. I also found Duke's honesty refreshing. I highly recommend Duke for your electrical needs.
Duke does the job right. I had a number of asks from him and he even turned down some things after explaining that it would not be the right thing to do (information and an approach that I really appreciated). He is honest and goes to great lengths to make sure that his clients are happy and that his work is top notch.
We ended up adding a new circuit and doing a number of recessed lights throughout the house. We are already in the process of trying to line up more work with Duke!

Duke was fast, efficient and most importantly with anything electrical, highly competent. We called Duke Electric Friday afternoon with an electrical problem in our garage and living room. He called us back promptly and came out Saturday morning to troubleshoot the problem. He methodically back-tracked the electrical from the garage to the living room until he found the source of the problem.
We feel much safer now that Duke has brought the electrical in our garage up to code and repaired the outlet in the living room. Duke did a great job and we plan to use him again when we add A/C.

Duke was easy to work with and reliable. It was reassuring to have an electrician that wasn't trying to make a quick buck as he helped plan our project based on our budget and more importantly to code.
Competent electrician. My air conditioner repair guy recommended Duke to check out an electrical issue near the breaker. Duke came out the same day and quickly diagnosed the issue and replaced the breaker. He had a spare breaker with him, and he didn't charge me extra for it. Just paid the service fee. Would hire again if need arises.
Duke has been a pleasure to work with! I am planning to install a new AC for my house and needed to upgrade my electrical panel before doing so. I initially inquired different companies for quotes, but out of everyone, Duke seemed the most knowledgeable and appeared to be the extremely genuine. I never felt like I was getting a sales pitch; he laid out options and recommendations based on my existing setup. He is extremely responsive and priced fairly. I contracted Duke for the panel upgrade and also to run a couple new circuits to the back of the house and kitchen. From the time I requested a quote, up to the end of the installation, he kept me updated and informed. He was available for any questions before and after the installation. He even made sure that I was happy with the install and all his work before taking his payment. His crew was extremely courteous, punctual, and hard-working; they even cleaned up behind themselves. I have no regrets hiring Duke and highly recommend anyone with electrical needs to contact him!
Duke was referred to us when 3 of our 4 lights in our kitchen went out. He knew exactly what we were talking about when we called him and was able to accommodate a next day fix. He replaced all our kitchen lights with LEDs that look fabulous! Since our laundry room had the same fixture, we asked him to replace that one as well. While replacing the fixture he noticed our fan was on... We did not know the fan was not suppose to stay on like that .. He took his time to fix the wiring for us. They also installed a ceiling fan for us hat we have been putting off...Duke and his team is very responsive and timely, they are professional and clean. Thanks for the great work!!!

Duke was recommended by our solar installer as the electrician who would upgrade our amp service from 100 to 200 amps. We could not be more pleased with his expertise, personal interest, and work ethic. Our task was a bit more challenging than typical, being in an older home, but one would never know that from the way Duke was able to redesign our electrical box locations etc. Most importantly, Duke took a personal interest in our needs and tried to help us with ideas regarding our projects. I hired Duke this week to take care of two of my light switches. Out of the blue, two switches for overhead lights stopped working. I called Duke and set up an appointment for Monday. He came right on time and was able to diagnose the problem quickly. He fixed it in about 10 minutes. His price is very reasonable and he is very friendly. I highly recommend Duke and will hire him again for my electrical needs.
Duke helped us several projects. He is very professional and knowledgeable about electric code and city permits. His work is very high quality. We had to run a long conduit to the back side of the house. He bend the conduit very nicely. He also gave us some good advice and helped us save money. His price is reasonable. No More Worrying the guy won't show or do a good job regarding electrical work. Was referred to me by a friend from softball. Guy was on time, courteous, professional, found the problem quick and was patient enough to explain the problem to me and options to fix including how to handle claims if need be. Price was fair and quality of work was fantastic. No surprises on price or work. Would highly recommend!!! Fuse Box replacement was done at my home.
Duke did an amazing job with the recessed lights in my condo. He is very professional, knowledgeable and reliable. He met the deadlines and his work quality was superb.
I would highly recommend him for any residential job.
I had an issue after a sub par AC repair person who was stumped and recommended I call an electrician. Duke was able to come out in less than 2 hours and fix the problem in no time. He even made a trip to the hardware store and kept the pricing extremely fair. I couldn't be happier with his extra effort in making sure he did not leave until I was 100% satisfied (even though it was well after 5pm which I really appreciated). This review is really late and I apologize. We used Duke last fall to put in an electric car charger, new outlets in the garage and replaced our electric panel. He was the second electrician that we called after we were unhappy with the first one who wanted to do a lazy job. Duke informed us that our electrical panel had been recalled and encouraged us to google it, the other one didn't even tell us any of this. After he gave us our estimate on the car charger and outlets, we did look it up and it was recalled. We called up and said that we would like it replaced also. The was done over 2 different days. Duke filed the paperwork with PG&E and did an awesome job. We will call him again when we have any electrical needs. Highly Recommended!!
Call Duke now! Honesty and Integrity! When the furnace goes out in addition to electrical outlets not working on a dark and stormy afternoon, you need an electrician in a hurry. After leaving messages for a few electricians, Duke actually answered his phone even though he was on a job. Great response time! I described my problem and he suggested I first contact PG&E because they would come out at no cost to diagnose the issue. He said that way I wouldn't have to pay him just to come out and diagnose. He said if PGE could not fix the issue, he would come by that very day once his current job was completed. Duke did not need refer me to PGE as it cost him a sale. He did it because he is honest. Make that call!
The ultimate professional in the electric business. He fixed many of my electrical problems in my home including, non-working outlets, led fixtures, ceiling fans, and blinking lights. The guy knows his business and is thorough. You tell him what you need fixed and he just gets the job done. Where else can you have the owner of a business come out to your residence and complete the job for you in a timely manner nowadays? Duke Electric for all your residential needs. Duke himself comes to your house. Get ready for a treat. The guy is super nice, knowledgeable and courteous. PG&E had an accident and a surge went through the entire house. He fixed the burned boxes and transformers and then suggested other trades to call to fix the blown appliances. Awesome business owner, and tradesman.

We had Duke come out to fix our oven that went out. I took the opportunity to have him upgrade our electrical panel to 200A. We were glad we did because the circuit breaker had burned itself into an open circuit and caused the oven to fail. Duke was very professional and pointed out potential safety issues related to wiring done by previous home owner. Overall, I am very pleased with Duke's quality of work and his professionalism. He takes great pride in getting the job done right with attention to details and cleans up after the work is completed. I would hire Duke for any future electrical work, and I recommend him to anybody needing a licensed electrician.
After a few days of blinking lights in our house and odd things happening, like only certain things in the room going out of power, I gave Duke a call. He asked if I was available for that day but I was busy, so we scheduled for the following day. However, when I got home that night things had gotten progressively worse with fridge power going out and cable, so I gave Duke a call again. He was very upfront with me about the price difference if he were to come after hours. I had him come after 9pm anyways, and was very grateful for making that decision. Within 15mins or so, Duke had climbed the ladder to our roof and knew we needed to quickly call PG&E before a real emergency took place. He explained what happened to our wire, even took a picture of what he saw, and did a great job taking care of the situation. I will/would call him again for electrical issues.

Duke rewired our whole house for a great price and on time...He also helped changed out all the ballasts at our nail salon cheaper than other electrician. He is clean and is on time. Highly recommended. Will use again!

In my line of business I'm asked to recommend a lot of contractors in different areas - paint, re-models, floors, roofing, plumbing, etc. I usually give my clients several choices when they ask for recommendations. However, whenever I'm asked to recommend an electrician - I only give 1 recommendation and that is DUKE. Duke knows his trade - he's highly knowledgeable, is quick to respond and the quality of his work is top notch. Duke has worked on my home and has worked on many of my client's homes and he's done a fantastic job. Give Duke a call - you won't be sorry!

We just had Duke and his team come out and install some additional power outlets at our business here in downtown Campbell. I had called or emailed over 15 different electricians in the area to get an estimate and Duke was the only who returned my call and physically came onsite to give us an estimate. We have a very unique office layout. Unfortunately, he had to come out to our office 3 separate times due to an issue with building management policy and scheduling downtime, but he was always very professional and very prompt. We were able to laugh about it all and even talk a little sports afterwards. I look forward to working with Duke again for all of our future electrical needs.

I was looking forward to working with Duke based on the Yelp reviews, but unfortunately we had a poor experience. Communication was an issue throughout the process. Despite several texts and emails explaining the equipment, Duke was not able to locate the right product on the first pass. We attempted to reschedule but did not hear back for days. Perhaps the cost of the job was not worth his time but all clients should be treated well to warrant a five star review on Yelp. I'm looking for another electrician now.

We woke up to our fridge, heater, and half of our electronics not working. We found Duke Electric on yelp and sent Duke a yelp request for a quote before he was open. To our surprise, Duke got back with a quote immediately (again this was before he was even open for the day). He was able to set up an appointment for that morning and seemed to be very understanding of the predicament we were in. He is extremely responsive and easy to talk with.
Duke is the best. He is responsive, reliable. His quotes are very reasonable. We use Duke for our rental property and our primary house.
We had Duke install a phone line in a house we just purchased. He arrived very promptly and was true to the phone estimate I received from him the day before. While on paper the job was simple, given the layout of the house the original placement I suggested was not possible. Duke eventually found a work around and installed the socket. I give Duke 4 stars for the quality and 5 stars for the responsiveness and value.
However, Duke gets 3 stars for professionalism. During the installation process Duke asked how much we paid for our house and kept insisting that it was a flip (which it wasn't). We probably won't hire him again until he gets better bedside manner.
Do not use these guys. They will over charge you and they run in and out without any guidance. He quoted me a specific amount to install 9 Nest devices. I am not familiar with this kind of device and did not realize that I would need to scan the QR code before he installed them. He took them out of the packaging so obviously he knew that I did not scan the codes before install. He was supposed to install 9 of them, but instead installed 8 because one needed to be hard-wired. However, he STILL CHARGED me the same amount of installing 9. He refused to pay me back for the 9th device that he did not install. Then I found out that I needed to scan the QR codes to make the devices work and he refused to help us take them down to make the product work. Although he was in my home already, he screamed at me in front of my young children and refused to take down the devices so that I could actually USE it.
If I could give Duke 6 stars I would! He did an excellent job on my projects. What I really liked about him from the beginning was that he wanted to give me what I wanted but also what I needed. Because really we are not electricians and don't know all that needs to be done. Also I really appreciated his reluctance to cut corners. He wanted to do a high quality job with the right materials for the job. This is because he takes a lot pride in his work and wants a good reputation for providing quality services. Duke and his staffer Kirk were thoughtful in offering suggestions on how to improve my project, not to raise the costs, but because they genuinely wanted to help. And they had some great recommendations! Furthermore I always felt comfortable having them at my home and never worried what they were doing. This is a rare thing nowadays and appreciate all that he did for me. I have no reservations in offering Duke my highest recommendation!

Duke was great. He came over for a free estimate on adding a 220 volt outlet for our dryer. He was honest and knowledgeable and provided solutions and options for us. He also identified some potential other issues and offered to fix at no extra charge. I will definitely use him for all of my electrical work from here on out.
Duke is a great guy who truly cares about his client's outcome and does excellent work at a fair price. I have used his services multiple times and the first time I bid him along with 6 other electricians. I highly recommend him.
I recently found Duke Electric through a reference and was very impressed with his customer service and work. I was impressed right away with Duke when he called me from his vacation in Hawaii to ensure that he submitted my city permit and followed up on his bid. When he came back from his vacation he quickly installed my outside flood lights and an electrical line that passed city inspection on the first pass. Duke is an extremely knowledgable electrician and I would highly recommend him to anyone. Duke is honest, experienced and doesn't cut corners. My landscape contractor was so impressed with Duke's work that he may also use him on future jobs.
Duke is one of the most competent, on-time, and non-pretentious electricians I've had the pleasure to work with. There are a lot of prima donnas in the business, where I find contractors that lecture the customer with an aura of superiority. Not with Duke: he's confident yet carries himself with respect and humility. He has pride about how the job is completed. (Get this: He cares about how neat the wires look inside the panel -- something that nobody but the building inspector will see). He's worked with me on a number of properties performing everything from panel changes, wiring new circuits and installing recessed lighting. He stands by is work and has returned a number of times to fix issues that cropped up because of other trade sub-contractors that created electrical problems. He does things right. Not only with his trade, but is licensed, carries liability insurance and workers comp. Too few customers ask to see both liability and workers comp certificates, but after hearing enough horror stories about workers getting hurt on your property, you should always ask your contractor for current certificates.
Duke electric solved all of my problems the same day! I called around to electricians for days trying to just get a hold of someone. Finally I called Duke Electric and was answered back immediately. Not only that but the guy came the same day to fix the lights in our master bath. We have already had him back out to replace 13 fixtures which he did in one morning. Crazy fast and great work. He's my go to.

We sifted through the Yelp reviews to find a Licensed Electrician and Duke Electric was caught my attention due to their multiple positive reviews. Duke came to my house to upgrade my main electrical panel from 100amps to 200amps. He is professional, honest and focused. He worked efficiently and cleaned up when the job was done. I was impressed with his knowledge as well as his kindness. Of course, he had a very reasonable price for the job!
I had Duke install 7 can lights in my house. We talked about what I wanted and he made suggestions about how the lighting would work better. He has a lot of knowledge and enthusiasm and was great to work with. Duke showed up on time for all appointments, did the work in the time quoted for the price quoted. His was also the lowest bid of 3 bids I received. I will use Duke again in a heartbeat whenever I need electrical work.
We had recessed LED lights put into the living room, two florescent lights replaced in the bathroom and a fan installed in the bedroom and Duke was great. He discussed the where and why of the light and fan placements, he covered all the furniture, cleaned up well afterward, was on time (actually a bit early) and was done well before I thought he would be. Very competitive pricing too. I would definitely recommend Duke!
I have been using Duke for over 8 years for all of my electric projects at home. Large projects from 220 volt spa in the backyard, electric towel rack heaters in the bathrooms, to multiple electric ceiling fans/lights in the bedrooms. Recently I had him install a 220 volt heater in the garage and as expected a very professional installation. He does extremely quality installations at very fair and reasonable pricing. What really sets him apart is his customer service. Unlike many contractors I have dealt with in the past he is very responsive, reliable and arrives at the job site on-time. Duke is awesome. He helped us with a large remodel project and not only did Duke have the best pricing for top quality work, but Duke was also worth his weight in gold when he caught a mistake by our architect that no one else noticed. Duke's all around knowledge of everything involved in the construction process saved me thousands of dollars and weeks of potential delays. I am so thankful to have found Duke just randomly online and now I refer him to anyone I know who needs an honest and hardworking electrician. I need more people like Duke to work with.
I hired Duke to install a new 200amp electric panel and two new bathroom fans recently. He is on-time, polite, and very professional! He takes extra efforts to do things right! He also give me some good advices about house renovation. He is the guy that really knows what he is doing and do quality works! It's easy to communicate with him by phone, email, messages! Duke did a great job helping with our issue. He communicated during the entire process and arrived 15 minutes early to our scheduled time. I like the fact he is the owner and expert doing the work. After calling several companies, all with great records and reviews, I elected to go with Duke Electric. Duke was able locate our problem and explain what was required to correct the issue, fix some wiring and replace our fuse box. Duke saved us thousands of dollars, I mean thousands. The first reputable electrician we called from a big name company who quoted many thousands of dollars, and did not even resolve the initial issue. Not only did Duke, find the problem, he showed us what was happening and described in detail, what need to be done and how long things would take. He (and crew) were detail with all their work and left the area cleaner than they found it. I highly recommend Duke Electric, he is interested in providing high quality service to the customer, not seeing what he can make on the job. PS, we are senior citizens.
Duke is very good and honest, I would hire him again. We used him to help install a new fan in our bedroom and he identified and corrected several serious code issues at no additional charge. He was very clean, communicated the issues well and worked fast. He will also issue a one year work guarantee on anything he touches. He is the owner and current sole employee and really takes pride in what he does. I would recommend him to a friend or neighbor knowing he would do a great and safe job.
We have hired Duke to do couple of jobs and he has been awesome. Not only does he have reasonable rates but has consistently done a good job. We did Indoor wall mount TV and speaker wire install, new outlets inside and outside, security light and outdoor landscape lighting. He did exactly what we asked, corrected us when he thought somehting else would be better and told us where to buy things and save money. His attitude rocks! I refer him to friends and family.
