If you need an electrician, look no further. Formosa Electric was so helpful and did a wonderful job on installing our EV Wall Charger.  

Finally jumped on the EV bandwagon and needed an electrician to install an EV Wall Charger. With the help from my Yelp Family, I found FORMOSA ELECTRIC. The process was so easy. Once Roger replied to my text message, he was able to answer all of my questions and more, he gave me suggestions and a reasonable quote and set up the install the next day. Score!!!

Roger was prompt and quick.  I appreciated him taking in everything that my hubs and I was asking for. All in all, Roger was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend Formosa to friends and family and keep them in mind for future projects.

Very fast installation of a 14-50 outlet for an EV charger.  They were very responsive via text, took a look at our garage (free consultation), and gave us great advice.  Our panel was older so they recommended installing a 14-50 outlet and getting a generic charger vs installing a Tesla Wall Connector.  The next day a crew came and installed the outlet.  Very fast, very professional.

We hired Formosa Electric to install our Tesla wall charger a couple of months ago, per everyone's recommendations here on Yelp. It was the right choice! The price quote process was easy. My husband just sent pictures of our garage and the main breaker box over the phone. The job was done quickly and right. The electrician stayed after finishing installation to make sure we tried it out and had no issues before he left. We were happy with the price and the service provided.

I would give a SIX stars review for Roger Lin. One of my kitchen outlets stopped working this morning. We found Roger from Yelp, and he was able to quickly diagnose the problem on the phone. When arriving at my house in pm, he was fully prepared with all tools needed. He fixed the issue within 20 minutes and gave us discount as it's not a complicated fix. I spoke to Roger and he asked me to send him photos and details of my job.  After spending more then 1.5  hours writing the email and taking photos, he never even acknowledge my email.  If you don't have time to even respond, don't ask me to waste my time sending you all the information and photos.  What a waste of my time.

The circuit breaker kept tripping when I had more than one appliance running at my place. I called Roger, and he soon came to inspect, found the main issue and took care of it within one hour.

Formosa Electric upgraded my main panel for an upcoming solar installation. They were kind, professional, knowledgeable, and were happy to accommodate my above-and-beyond requests. They color-matched the house paint, got a small pot of it during a break, and pained conduit and grounding wire to match the house - now that's freaking awesome. Roger was very concerned with knowing that I was satisfied, and I truly appreciate that. We had our electric service upgraded to 200 Amps (200 Amps is the minimum recommended service panel size in full size modern homes) by Formosa Electric. We also have our main (relocated) and sub panels replaced and everything finished within a day. Roger's team showed up on time, coordinated with PG&E and finished the entire project effectively and efficiently. I called Formosa Electric for a quote on electrical work for a mobile home. They were polite, listened and addressed the scope of my project, informed me that they did not do work on mobile homes, and provided me with a referral to an alternate electrician that might be able to help.

I planned to have a NEMA 14-50 outlet for my EV and chat with many friends. Most of my friends recommended Roger at the same time. So, I pinged Roger and ask for the quote with city permit. Roger gave me a good deal that covers the work and the permit application. During the work, I changed my mind about the location of the outlet. Roger and his team changed the design without any hesitation. Today, the inspector came and we pass the inspection at once. Roger is super professional. I am buying a Tesla Model Y, and the expected delivery date is the end of June. I wanted to have the Tesla Wall Connector installed before the car is delivered.

I requested my quotes for installation of Tesla Wall Connector form Yelp. Roger responded quickly and shared a picture of one of his newly installed connectors. I also sent the pictures of my electric box and details of the garage and the location I intended to install the connector to him. Roger's quote was very reasonable, and he highly recommended the Tesla Wall Connector for Tesla cars.

Finally I ordered the Tesla Wall Connector and got it last Friday, then texted Roger to schedule the installation next Monday. He texted me in the morning to inform when he would come to my house, and also texted me before he come.

Roger is a awesome communicator, He knows everything about the Tesla Wall connector. His work was clean and organized.

If you are thinking of buying a Tesla and wanted to charge your Tesla at home, the Tesla Wall connector is your best choice. And Roger would be your best and easy decision to make for the installation.

Roger did an excellent job installing my EV charger. After I texted him with photos of the site, he responded quickly with an accurate quote. The job was promptly scheduled and he arrived on time. He made sure to route the conduits so that the decor of the house was minimally impacted. After the install, they cleaned up the site and had me confirm that the charger was working as expected. We went to formosa electric to replace our breaker box. Roger is very knowledgeable and patient. He explained and answered all of our questions. After the site survey, we decided to let his team to install an EV charger as well. The job was done in less then 4 hours. They installed everything, patch the wall, clean up all the debris. Great experience with Roger from Formosa Electric. He quickly responded to my request for a quote and was able to suggest the scope of what was needed with just a few pictures and questions.  

I wanted to install a Tesla car charger and install a Ring flood light and camera at the front of my garage.  Unfortunately, I needed to upgrade both my sub panel and main panel to be able to add the Tesla Charger.  But he was able to do it all, coordinate city permits and scheduling with PG&E. Roger has been doing this all his life and his expertise showed through the whole way.  

Roger arrived with his partner right on-time and set up for the work to be done.  They were masked up and had everything needed to get the job done, including replacing the drywall around the circuit breakers and the stucco around the main panel.  

After everything was done, Roger walked me through it all and helped me test everything out. He even made sure the Ring camera was all set up. I thoroughly appreciated all of his hard work.

I needed a car charger installed at garage, contacted several electricians and Roger gave me very quick response and replied in details including recommendations based on photos I sent him.

Arrived on time per our appointment, he's super friendly and has a lot of knowledge, I proposed the car charger to be installed at a different location at first but Roger explained to me how that's not future proofing comparing the different plug-in position of hybrid/electric cars in the market, and demonstrated to me multiple use cases vs the cable length I have. So I took his advice, and he was on his own from then on, he originally said it would be completed within 2 hours but eventually it was only a little over an hour, super quick and nicely done, no damage to the wall, looks clean and neat. I will definitely go back to Formosa Electric for any electrical problems/needs in the future.

Had them upgrade my main panel and install a Tesla wall charger, everything went really smoothly. I went to a coffee shop and then came home at 2pm, and staring at me was a shiny wall charger on the wall. Inspection, power shut off coordination was all perfect.

My experience with Roger is the same as the rest of the reviews, outstanding !

My tenant was complaining about the electrical breaker kept tripping when he had only two appliances were running in the heatwave days. I was eager to find a licensed electrician to figure out the problem asap, and I found Roger. Roger soon replied and scheduled the service, no delay and hassle.

We were having issues with our 1950s main panel.  Our breaker tripped and it wouldn't reset.  All the other companies I call wanted to send someone out in a few days and charge just for taking a look.  Roger from Formosa electric was able to talk me through it over the phone.

Weeks later I scheduled to have our main panel replaced and install a Tesla wall charger.  Their work was outstanding.  Started at 8am, had electricity back on by 2pm.  They had the timing down perfectly with PGE and the city inspectors.  They even brought portable generators so we could keep our fridge and freezer plugged in while the main power was off

For the Tesla wall charger, I wanted something specific with a 60A breaker and conduit wiring.  Even though it was more work for them, Roger was totally understanding and flexible in accommodating my request.

I wouldn't go with anyone else.  They are super knowledgeable and professional.  Everything was cleaned up perfectly and Roger was just a great guy to chat with and get advice about solar, etc...

I've never had a better interaction with Calling someone to work on our house.  The five star reviews here say it all.

Roger and his team replaced electric main panel, installed Tesla wall connector, and wired a new electric line for water heater. Quote was reasonable and covers permit / coordinating with PG&E ..etc. On the scheduled day they arrived on time at 8am and I was surprised they had total 3 people coming for the work, which means they were able to finish the work very quick around 2pm with city inspection done.

Would highly recommend Roger for any electric works!

Just moved in to a place with a couple outlets not functioning. Called Formosa and was told to double check if they were on the on switch but that was not the issue. Our kitchen electric outlets went out this morning affecting power to our refrigerator, and kitchen appliances. We were quite worried because of potential food spoilage. We called Formosa Electric, and even though they don't service our area, he advised us to reset the gfci outlets throughout the entire house (inside and outside). It worked!!! Formosa Electric saved us a lot of heartache, stress, and money! Kudos and much thanks to Formosa Electric. Just wish they serviced our area.

Roger is a fantastic electrician who recently installed a Tesla charger and put in new electrical main panel to replace two old panels in m y home.  It was at a reasonable cost, and he and his crew did work in a timely way.  Recently, I was having problems with Tesla charger or wall charging unit as my EV car was charging very slowly.  Roger came out to my home and checked my charging unit to make sure it was working correctly.  He did this at no charge!  He is great to work with.  I highly recommend him for any electrical work you need done to your home.  You will know that he will follow-up if you have any concerns or problems in the future.

Our circuit breaker was constantly tripping itself.  So I called the Formosa guy, and he told me that it's been raining, and that it likely tripped the GFCI Outlet.  He said he's literally gotten 10 calls about this exact issue today (due to last nights rain).  He told me how to fix the problem myself right over the phone.  And he was right!  Basically, super honest guy that was really trying to help me out.  He didn't charge me a penny.  That's a rare thing in business, and I'm thankful.

Roger is awesome. Very patient, explains everything in detail and answers all your questions. He's honest and won't try to up sell you on anything. Got a 14-50 outlet installed as well as an extra 110v and he and his partner's work is flawless. They take pride in their work which seems rare nowadays. I was lucky to get in on a cancellation but he's definitely worth waiting for if you want the job done right. I'll be turning to Formosa for all my future electrical needs.

We had two rooms without power in our house. After performing continuity test on all the circuit breakers using a multimeter, I still couldn't identify the problem (all the breakers and the GFCIs are functioning). I called here to see if I can get some professional help.

Even though he wasn't available in person, Roger was extremely helpful over the phone. He very quickly identified the problem as likely to be a daisy chain connection issue in one of the outlets and was kind enough to provide me with detailed instructions on how to troubleshoot it over the phone!! As it turns out, the issue was indeed due to a lose wire nut on the hot wire in a light switch. Seems like this is one of those few places whose owner genuinely cares about solving customer issues (even for free over the phone!!), a rare find these days!

Roger was able to fit my Tesla Wall Connector install into his busy schedule a few days after I initially contacted him.  He was able to mount the charger directly behind my main panel and helped me move a few of the existing wall mounted panels inside the garage to make the install as clean as possible.  I wouldn't hesitate to use Roger again for any of my future electrical needs.

Roger and his team are amazing.

We had really old EDISON fuse boxes installed in our closet, which is probably not the best thing you want to see in your house 2020. We called Roger to check if we can replace the whole fuse box and upgrade our meters to 200A. After his first visit, he gave us the quote. The quotes are reasonable. He was also really responsive to any question we asked through SMS.

On the construction date, the team prepared a generator, so we can still have power while they were working. Originally, the work would need 2 days to complete. But they were able to complete it in a day.

Overall, Roger and the team are professional, always ensuring having clear communication before any critical construction work. We're super happy having Roger to work on our house.

I am the kind of person that typically researched the top 3-4 choices of vendors to use based on yelp reviews and next door reviews. Reviews are typically my 1st guideline and then I go based on making sure that the vendor is able to work with my style and then 3rd is price. My style .... ahhhhhhh I ask a MILLION questions, because I have to make sure I understand the what and the why of the scope for the job I am asking to be done. I rely on the experts to know what to do, but I like to understand the process and do my research so that I'm not taken advantage of and also so I can translate to my husband as he is not at home when I typically get quotes. We had Roger come to our house to install Tesla home charging. Scheduling and getting a quotation is straightforward and fast. Roger is responsive, accommodating and he would ask for some photos of the garage and electric panels beforehand to assess the work and hence, the price for the work needed. Everything was done via text. He's obviously very experienced and the work was done nicely and neat. At the risk of sounding like a broken record here, Roger and his team are AMAZING!

After having dealt with more than my fair share of terrible contractors, Formosa Electric was a dream, that made me wish I had more work for them to do.

Starting with punctuality:  Roger said he would be here on a date certain at 8am - he and his team were here 10 minutes early.

Moving on to reasonable expectations:  Roger prepared me for a potentially all day process (this was a Main Panel Upgrade, with a lot of moving parts), where he was completely done (including city and utility inspections) in just over four hours.   SIDE NOTE:  One of the reasons the inspections went so well: these guys clearly recognized Formosa's competence, and signed off on the work easily.

And then high quality work:  Not only did Roger and team clean up the worksite, they conscientiously re-stuccoed the wall, matched paint on the touch-up, and left the place better than they found it.

If you ever find yourself in need of residential electrical work, don't even think about going to anyone else.

You can not image how amazing they are. Fast in response, fast in permit application, fast in replacement work, and last but not least, very reasonable price.

My house get something wrong with the main panel. I have tried a few electrician for diagnostics and even the home warranty (totally useless). After all, I figure out that the issue is the main panel. Then I text him, quote and schedule all set within 2 hours. Roger keeps me posted for the permit progress on time and he show up on time as scheduled. Everything is finished within one day, with EVERYTHING done.

I am really appreciating his help especially after all troubles that caused by my main panel and all the communication that I did with others. I would strongly recommend him to my friends if they are in trouble or need some help for electric. It's really lucky for me to find him as a reliable electrician and get all things done before Thanksgiving. Amazing team of electricians. We purchased our home over a year ago and had an original main circuit breaker which needed to be replaced. Roger and the team came out, did an amazing and speedy job, we had the permit and power back on within a few hours.

Roger and his team are highly professional.

They did main panel upgrade for me. They got the job done in one day and the whole upgrade process went very smooth. They coordinated with PG&E for service drop connect/disconnect and the city inspector for the electrical permit. They handled everything without any issue. By 4pm power was restored in my house and the job site was already cleaned up. They also brought a power generator for keeping my essential equipments running during the upgrade. Yesterday my two tenants lives in Second floor turned on the place heaters for both room then the sub-panel breaker just jumped out and no power for whole night. Even I pushback the switch but still got nothing.

So I asked for Roger's help today and he showed up this morning on time; checked everything, the panel, switches, plug outlets and also the cord in the attic.

Finally, he found a burnt wire inside a outlet in one of the rooms. I'm so lucky that only damaged about 3 inches of the wire from the wall or I needed to call 911 if it burnt more than it in the wall.

He pulled out the damage one and add a new junction box for the new wire. So everything is good right now.

After he fixed the problem, he checked my whole house and gave me some suggestions about my electrical works who did before.

I learned a lot from him. Highly recommend this professional company to everyone lives in Bay Area.

Roger from Formosa Electric, a family-owned small business, is quick and professional in following up on Yelp. He visited in person to assess the work: changing a sub-feed line (the big wires cable between the main panel and the sub-panel in the house) eaten by rodents.
He provided multiple bids on different electrical jobs, including the sub-feed replacement, main panel replacement which was deemed a fire hazard, whole-house surge protection, ATS installation for a generator (due to the poor service provided by PG&E despite their exorbitant pricing).
Despite not being the cheapest on the market, due to his excellent track records, I hired Formosa.
Roger and his partner arrived on-time on the scheduled date, sober. Roger explained and showed me what he was doing.
They changed the main panel, sub-feed and installed the surge protection in record time. Their work passed the City inspection. They had to do some cuts in the drywalls for the sub-feed line: they made small and minimum cuts that they patched once done. The stucco work looks great to seal the main panel outside and matched the exterior wall painting. They cleaned after themselves, I barely know they were on-site.
Formosa will come back for the next jobs very soon: installing an ATS for the power generator, and a line to transform the wood fireplace into an electrical one. Further comments and evaluation may follow.

My kitchen lights were burnt out and microwave cannot function. I contacted Roger and he immediately scheduled a time for checking out. He is easy to reach through phone or text and easy to communicate with. In the visit, he gave us a very thorough explanation about possible scenario and we can have an idea about how he will conduct the work.

Formosa came out and looked over the house and provided a very reasonable estimate.

Not only is he reliable, fast, and professional, but he does great quality work and offers very competitive rates! After getting quotes from many electrician to install a NEMA 14-50 outlet to charge my Tesla Model 3. Roger is the only choice who stood out! He spent a lot of times answering many questions I have and he gave an amazing price.

I end up not only installing the NEMA 14-50 but also replacing the electrical sub-panel. I were also able to get all of this done very quickly. His team installed everything the same day I received my Tesla.

For Tesla owners, NEMA 14-50 outlet and the standard mobile charger (provided with the car) is all you need. I'm getting 30 or more miles per hour at 32 amp and 240 volts.

I called around to see what the going price was for a Tesla home charging and I got a long range, but Roger was the fastest and more reasonable priced that about 5 other companies and electrician I called. Roger is an absolute pro when it comes down to the electrical work!!!!!

What an awesome job Roger and his crew did today with a high level of efficiency and attention to details!!!  I had a fantastic experience from the 1st call, countless text messages, till he left us with a 200 amp Panel upgrade, Tesla wall charger installation, and add new line to the kitchen in just one day.  

Regarding the wall charger, it was so elegantly done with no exposed conduit or wire!!! He suggested going for the 24 feet.  He installed it close to the garage door, so it can also charge the car while  parking outside for convenience :-) :-) :-)

Roger has a wealth of electric knowledge!!!  He is super friendly, super pleasant to talk to, and leads a solid and efficient team.  The team arrived early with smiling faces!!!  Roger will be my go-to person for all my future electrical needs and I will refer him to my friends without hesitation!!!

Roger and his team is absolutely amazing. He did an amazing job on the install of my generator outlet/electric box to my main electric box.  Roger and his team arrived early, installed quickly and tested the line to make sure it was working.  After everything was completed they left the site very clean.  I did a lot of research on who to go with this install and am very glad I chose Formosa Electric.  I won't hesitate to call Roger again for any of my electric needs.

Had them upgrade my main panel. Roger did a good plan for us, and took care of all the paperwork for us. And on the work day, he and his crew arrived at ~8am, and started to work immediately. Such an efficient team. Roger also contacted city people for inspection in the afternoon and everything went smoothly. We only lost power for less than 7 hrs. Amazing!

Roger and team provided the best service I have ever experienced. They arranged all the stuff needed for our panel upgrade end to end. On the same morning, I was working full time, not even being aware that PGE and city inspection people had visited. Yes, you heard it right: I was working with my laptop and internet, thanks to the power generator they provided. There were a couple of issues, for example, our panel is far from the city water pipe where the panel needed to be grounded upon by law; we have a piggybacked second panel to be rewired... but no problem. They did a fantastic job by wiring the ground around the house. In the end they sealed wall with cement and painted it with the same color! They had their lunch at 2p just because they wanted their customers to get back their electricity sooner. I highly recommend them for anyone who needs electricity service. They are the best you can get in this area.

This is an overdue review (the work was done early December of 2018).
Our house was built in 50's and the previous owner left many rooms with old 2-prong outlets. We have (very) young kids and would like to upgrade the outlets for safety. The scheduling was super smooth and they did their best to find the soonest time slot for me.
Roger and his crew (Gary) did a fantastic and thorough job. They gave sincere suggestions about the best use of money.  
Will definitely use them in the future.

Not a yelp active user. But just for Roger, decided to log in and drop a review.

I met him a while back to install an ev charger in a condo. He was an honest guy and suggested not to install at condo. Wait until I move to Single family home. He was honest enough to suggest, all extra electrical work will be waste with HOA. Fast forward, i moved to a SFH. I called him and asked him not just to install ev charger, but to upgrade main panel, sub panel, flood lights and install recess lighting through out the house.

You rarely meet an honest guy with quality work. He doesn't take shortcuts and I have seen him doing work throughout.

He is on time, reasonable, and I highly recommend him.
He is our go to electrician now for any electrical needs.

I had a new panel, Tesla wall connector, and a flood light installed by Roger. His price was very good and included all materials and permit. We called Roger when two of our kitchen sockets stopped working. The circuit breaker panel didn't show any circuit breaker kicked off. Roger taught me on the phone several things to check because it seemed to be some basic problem. As it turned out, the circuit breaker did shut off the circuit, but the switch did not kick off. Roger's professionalism helped us save the time and money. I'll definitely recommend him to anyone.

Thoroughly professional. Upon my request they did accommodate installation on a weekend since i have kids at home and on a working day it wouldn't have been possible. A couple of reschedules did happen but i was ok for me as it wasn't a weekday and it was not an emergency at my end.
As far as the work is concerned, they were spot on time and prepared with all material to be installed. The team of 3 people were very clean with Masks which anyone would expect at this time. The installation was very clean and tidy. I would recommend Formosa and its owner Roger for any electrical work.

I was referred to Roger by my friends who he had done work for and he was absolutely fantastic! For the record, Roger upgraded my main service panel and installed a Tesla Wall Connector.

Punctual:
He arrived at the time he said he would with his crew and began work immediately.

Professional / Knowledgeable:
He was responsive to my questions from start to finish and maintained a good business relationship through his consistent communication for the entire process.

I also want to mention that a couple crew members waited for PG&E to inspect the work for 2 hours after the work was completed. That was certainly a nice and professional gesture!

Thoughtful:
Due to the nature of the work performed, the power had to go out for a while. During that time, Roger provided my wife with a power pack so that she could charge her phone.

Quality of Work:
They did what they said they were going to do and they did it well. No complaints here!

Great service overall and I would not hesitate to hire Roger and his crew for any future projects.

Roger put in recess led lighting for me today. Guy is great. Awesome work. Genuine nice guy. Well worthy the money. I've had a lot of contractors before. Roger is probably the most honest and sincere guy I've met. He's more of a friend than some guy just working for you. Really reasonable. The lighting is the best upgrade I've done to the house so far. I got more stuff that needs done and Roger will be the go to guy when it comes to electrical work. I have a 60 years old house with original power panels. I have recently replaced furnace and added A/C. I was told by HVAC I don't have enough amp in my power panel. HVAC referred a couple of Electricians. I also asked my brother-in-law regarding EV charging. He has 2 EVs and I am planning to get one. He referred his electrician, Roger Lin from Formosa Electric. Roger asked me to take some photo of my panels and send over cell phone. The others came to my house to see my panels. Roger was the first to provide quote. Others took much longer. I signed with Roger rather quickly before other quotes came. Others in fact were 30 to 40 percent higher. Roger arranged PG&E schedule and the work started and completed yesterday. They show up on time with generator my family can continue to work from home with computers. Job done nicely. Roger replaced both my inside and outside panels. Also added 2 EV charging nema. The way EV going, we will all end up with 2 EV in garage. I will be calling Roger again to upgrade panels for my rental properties soon.

I can't say enough good thing about Formosa Electric. Our place went out of power one evening at close to 11pm, I wasn't able to get it back on even after resetting the electric panel. I tried to text a few 5 star rated electricians on Yelp, hoping to hear back on one of them so I can book the next day appointment asap. Formosa was one of the companies that responded even in this late hour and offered me a few tips and suggested that it could be the issue with our smart meter (Low voltage), and that I should first have PG&E take a look at our meter. PG&E came the next day, and it was indeed the faulty meter. Formosa Electric company is very experienced, honest and excellent in customer-service, willing to offer insights that save customers hassles and solves issues in the most efficient way.  I will reach out to them again for any electrical problems in the future.

Absolutely top notch services for any Tesla or EV owners - new or existing who look to find the most experienced and reliable electrician in town at a reasonable price.

We had a brief call asking for a quote on my wall connector for a Tesla Model 3 in my garage - within minutes, Roger was able to confirm the quote range and time to install the connector. Roger and his crew arrived on time, fully prepared with all the necessary tools, and figured out the best location to place the connector based on their extensive experience installing wall connectors or EV chargers all over Bay Area. Within an hour, the installation was completed professionally - they also took the time to share useful information with us as to best ways to charge - very patient and detailed. After the installation, they cleaned up and wrapped the rest back into the wall connector packaging box. What you see here is the final product of their incredible service.

Roger and his team delivered service that reflects all the previous reviews posted here.  When obtaining quotes for the job I needed completed, his was very competitive.  He and his team were prompt, courteous, responsive, honest and truly professional.

PG&E shut my power down due to damaged wires behind the meter.  They found it when they were trying to upgrade it.  (why that is my cost to repair is beyond me....)  I needed the work done quickly as my power was only temporarily rigged by a kind PG&E field tech.  Normally, I would be totally blacked out as what the tech did wasn't standard procedure or necessarily condoned by PG&E according to him.  A real favor indeed and much appreciated.

Roger  was nearby when I called him and came by the same day to provide a quote.  Through the course of a few more days, I obtained more quotes.  Came across some very interesting range of characters, personality, and prices.  Some not so good.  Ultimately gave the job to Formosa Electric.  Very glad I did!  Upon completion, it was obvious I made the right choice.  He answered all my questions before, during, and after the job.  Explained the process of city permit, PG&E application, PG&E disconnect, inspection process, and PG&E reconnect.  He and his team even re-stuccoed the surrounding area of the electrical panel and color matched it as well.  Others specifically stated they wouldn't do that.

Found out he was an auto enthusiast and expressed interest in my vehicle.  When all the work was buttoned up and work space cleaned, I took him for a quick spin and he was grinning ear to ear.  Not the fastest car on the road but 416 HP from the factory is nothing to sneeze at...  He said he was going to get one and I told him to swing by after he does...  Made a friend as well as a go-to electrician.  I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Roger really lives up to the 5* reviews in Yelp. He did a kickass clean job installing recessed lights in our living room. His estimates are neat and not at all higher than the market rate. He does not charge unnecessary and gives you the best estimate for money and time. He is super busy and has won't take your time if he is charging on an hourly basis. I reached out to multiple electricians for quotes to install my Tesla charger. Roger was always quick in his responses and his quote was the best out of 4-5 electricians. We had a mishap with the schedule but Roger contacted me to reschedule and came out the next day. Roger and his associate showed up on time and they finished the job in about an hour. I was out of town on vacation when my renter called to report an electrical problem.  This has been an ongoing problem over the last month when we thought it was just a simple resetting of the breakers.  This call could not have been more poorly planned because we were not in town and we just didn't feel comfortable waiting until we are back in town.  After reading a few Yelp reviews and requested a few electricians to call me back, I got a hold of Roger from Formosa Electric.  We described the problem to Roger and he thought the issue was weird.  Then he asked that we send some photos of the sub and main panels for him.  One look of our photos, he knew what the issue was.  Keep in mind, this was all done remote.

He quoted us a price and was very reasonable because we did do our homework as well.  We approved the cost and off he went.  He coordinated with the City inspector, PG&E and the tenant and the issue was resolved in 2 weeks.  WOW.  He made this process so painless and I couldn't be happier.  I would use Roger again and I'd recommend him to anyone I know.

I am giving 5 stars for this business because I was impressed by the professionalism of the manager of this company. Roger always answered my calls and was willing to help in the smallest matter. Even though his schedule was very busy he made time to come to my house and troubleshoot the problem. Our sub panel was damaged and he scheduled a replacement. He was back after 2 days and spent exactly 4 hours (like he promised) on removing the old sub panel and replacing it with a new panel and new breakers. He worked alongside his assistant, Gary. Both men were respectful and very knowledgeable. They did not stop for one minute and the area where they worked was organized and cleaned before they left.
I will only  be calling Formosa Electric for any electric needs.

Our kitchen outlet for the electric range (220v) was not working suddenly one day when we were preparing lunch. This happened when we were all stuck at home because of shelter in place order due to covid19 and we need our electric range badly.

Our friend recommended Roger for the work. We contacted Roger and got his response almost immediately. Roger identified the issue and helped us fixed it very quickly. He certainly live up to his good reputation. Highly recommened!!

Roger and his partner showed up at the house actually before I did (traffic was bad), but neither of them complained.

Job was to install a Tesla Wall Charger and they did a great job and extremely quickly. They even educated me on how the builders of the home had taken some short cuts on the wiring of our car charger panel  so he made some recommendations and changed the location of installation for the better.

Install was super quick and less than an hour!

This really is as good as it gets.  I contacted Formosa Electric with an issue regarding a particular outlet not working properly on my kitchen island.  All other outlets on the island and in my kitchen were working properly, just this stubborn outlet.

I made sure the circuit breaker to the kitchen was working in the on position and even turned it off and back on to make sure.  I was very  hesitant in taking the problematic outlet apart.... so I reached out to Formosa Electric via Yelp's Request a Quote button.  

Shortly after I contacted them, Roger replied via email AND a phone call, and asked me to reset all the GFCI outlets in the kitchen.  I did so and it resolved the issue!  He could have done this via a service call and charged me $$ for his services but he didn't.  He took the time to help me out without expecting anything in return.  Who does that in today's world??  That to me tells me a lot of his professionalism, service, integrity and speak volumes about the kind of person he is.

If I ever need ANY electrical work or service, I'm not going to bother searching for anyone else.

Prior to this we had an electrical contractor that quoted the same price but without getting it permitted. We feel like Formosa is fair and trustworthy. Thanks to PG&E mandatory power shutoff. Made the electrical a little whacked out in my house. We called a few different electricians, all but Roger from Formosa Electric was patient and helpful enough to get the power back on. I cannot remember the last time where I was so impressed with a business. Roger was awesome. I found Formosa Electric through yelp and he was quick and responsive.

He showed up at our home around 6:30pm on a weekday night during commute hours. He checked out outlets and terminals and could not find an issue. He suggested that we contact PGE as it might be something with the recent rains causing a surge. Since he didn't find anything he didn't charge us. very high quality of work from Roger!! In April 2020 some area in my house lost power. Some other electrician came to take a look but after a few round of troubleshooting was not able to identified the root cause. I did not have power in those area for almost two months. My friend referred me Roger and he came as our saver. Very soon he identified its the arcing inside the breaker panel. He showed me clearly where the problem is and immediately help me arrange a panel replacement. In two weeks permit was done and pg&e came with Roger to do the work. Roger also provide me a complete report and I submitted to my homeowner insurance claim and I got 100% covered. Thanks Roger for his great and high quality works. After that he also answered me over text a lots of questions to get my home power usage well managed.

Simply Amazing! We had our main panel upgraded to 200 amps. Roger sent a quote after I  sent pictures of my old panel. Very reasonable quote and he scheduled PG&E and city permit as well. We had to wait for a couple of weeks for the appointment. Roger kept me informed through the process. On the day of the job he and his helper showed up @8. They were done by 2pm including PG&E main line cutoff and reconnection and city permit. There was an issue with one of my palm trees in the backyard brushing against the main line. PG&E guy wanted some of the branches to be removed before reconnecting the main line. We tried to call a few gardeners and tree removal companies to help, but none were available. Roger came to our rescue - he and his friend got on the ladder and cut down the branches that were problematic. They went above and beyond to help us. They are an awesone team. For any and all of my electrical needs, it will always be Roger and his team.

I needed a NEMA 14-50 outlet installed in our garage for a future EV. I found Roger through Yelp when I was researching a main panel upgrade for our solar project. We wound up having the solar contractor do all the work but Roger was very helpful and informative. Flash forward a few months later after our solar project was competed and I decided to have Roger install my EV outlet. When I contacted Roger again, he responded quickly and was able to schedule me in within the week.
I had a few ideas on where the outlet should be installed but I also asked him for suggestions. I went with his suggestion as it allows me the ability to charge the vehicle both inside and outside the garage. I was very happy with the final results. Separately, I had a bad light switch I asked Roger to look at, which he fixed in less than 10 minutes. I wanted to pay him for his extra time but he refused payment.

Not only was Roger the cheapest of all 10 quotes I obtained, but he was also the most responsive. He slotted me in for the next day, New Year's day, and he was professional, friendly, articulate, knowledgeable and did a great job. I asked owner Roger to install a 240V outlet for the EV charger.  He is very responsive and quoted a very reasonable price, but after he saw the mess of a junction box in the house, suggested we add a sub panel for safety and to increase future expandable capacity.  The work was done in 3 hours and he and his crew were very professional.  The final price was in line with what I paid more than 10 years ago to upgrade the panel.  He is the guy to call for any of my future electrical work.

I have asked for Roger to help with recess light installation two times. I chose him because he's licensed and knows what he's doing. He responds quickly to my inquiries, even in evenings and on weekends.

Roger provides innovative solutions such as Lutron wireless switches that allows me to control lights installed on the ceiling of 17-foot high living room from two separate locations (I can also take the remote with me anywhere). I also asked him to separate 8 lights into 2 groups of switches, so I have more flexibility in lighting control.

He has his own tall ladder (many other electricians need to rent them), so the scheduling is also very flexible. I contacted him on Friday, and we have new lights installed on the following Monday. Very efficient!

Overall, I highly recommend electrical services from Roger's company.

We initially had some issues with the kitchen plug-ins and Roger had them fixed with just few secs. When he checked out our panel (very old model since the condominium was built in late 70s), he then pointed out the potential risks of fire hazards if we don't replace it. A friend referred Formosa Electric to us and we are glad we took their referral.  From July through September of 2018, Roger, Jim and Gary did the following for us:

1. installed 28 recess lights

2. upgraded sub-panel and main-panel, and scheduled inspection with city inspector for the job

3. installed new power outlets

4. torn down a storage room in garage and rerouted outlets

5. Roger shared awesome pictures of his handsome sons (Priceless!)

I never got chance to see their workmanship, since I waited days to get their response even after I agreed to go ahead with their quote. Finally when I texted saying that I need an answer, they replied they are too busy right now! It would have saved me days of waiting if they informed that to me earlier. I have a 50 years old 100A power panel that need upgrade and Roger was recommended from multiple friends. So I do have confident that I am in good hand since power is one of the most important thing for a home.

I would highly recommend and also keep Roger on top of my technician list.  I have an inconsiderate tenants using high voltage electric in master bedroom to cause the power outage.  So I contact Roger and he was nice with good attitude.

He is patiently to explain to me what is going on and kindly advise me what needs to be done in order to have the power back on. The steps wasn't difficult at all . He just spoke me over the phone so I did not get charge for a penny.

Normally a technician will charge for inspection ,but Roger listened my issues and give me an advise quickly without come over nor charge me for it.  He is not greedy or trying  setting up an inspection in order to charge me.

I had a Tesla wall charger installed. Setup an appointment and was scheduled for an 8-9 AM start time. He arrived at 8AM promptly and we discussed the options that were available to install on my sub panel or on the main panel. He kept me informed of the pros and cons of each option and we went with the best option for me. Installation was quick and clean and he confirmed with me before doing any work on the location of where the charger would be mounted exactly. Called Roger at Formosa in the morning hoping he could come out later in the week--he couldn't make it, but went out of his way to show up at my place at 7:30 at night. He was friendly, polite, and most of all, he was honest. Took at a look at my electrical concerns, pulled my panel off the wall, did some tests, and gave me his honest assessment. Shockingly, it was the assessment that costed me no money. I always worry about plumbers and electricians--if you're a home owner and know nothing about what it is that needs repair, you can be taken for a ride. Even the cost of them just coming out to figure out whats wrong. But not Formosa, and not Roger. The issue has not resurfaced, Roger went out of his way to stop by the night I called, and he charged me nothing--managed to fix the problem too.

I'm not giving the guy a great review because he didn't charge me anything, I'm giving him a great review because he was honest, helpful, and trustworthy.

One word: Incredible.

Due to the amount of housing development in our area finding an electrician has been nearly impossible. Over a two month stretch we called seven electricians - none could help us. We had a range hood we couldn't install and our kitchen lights went completely out! We were literally lighting a little lamp with an extension cord to get light in the kitchen.

We called Formosa at 5:20 p.m. on Black Friday expecting an answering machine and no call back. Not only did Roger answer, he was here the next morning by 8 am to help us. We gave him a laundry list of work in addition to the kitchen and range hood. He was back at 8 am on Sunday and had all 5 projects - big projects at that - done by Noon. INCREDIBLE.

Not only that, he was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable to all my rudimentary questions.

I'm so happy we went with Formosa for our electrical upgrade. Roger is incredibly responsive, thorough, patient, and approachable. Projects for a condo and a single family house.
Roger and his team helped our family upgraded the main and sub panels and installed additional outlets.  We found Roger's info through Facebook's group recommendation.  Roger is very responsive to text messages, very informative when talking on the phone and he gave us a reasonable quote (compared to several quotes I got from Yelp).

This is a long overdue review. Roger and his team installed recessed lighting in our entire house last year. Roger was pleasant and responsive in answering questions and in scheduling our job. His team was timely and quick to install the lighting in one day.  They were clean in vacuuming up any mess too. And his prices were reasonable.  This year we had some lights that were malfunctioning due to the old wiring in the house.  He answered the phone and quickly responded by sending out his workers to replace the lights at no charge.  Now that's service!  I've already recommended to a friend who hired them too.

Highly recommended!  Roger promptly responded with a reasonable quote and completed the job in less than 2 hours.  

Subsequent to the installation of a NEMA 14-50 outlet, I discovered the portable charger that came with my Tesla was actually a rare 3 prong outlet with a high amperage upgrade that did not fit.  After advising Roger, he immediately texted back to advise he can switch it out for free the next day and he kept his word.  

That's what I call good customer service.  If I ever have any electrical issues, he will be the first person I call!

One of the electric circuit doesn't work properly, after troubleshooting, found the GCFI kept trapped, I tried to repair it by myself, change the breaker and replace GCFI outlet, no help. So it's time to ask professional. Luckily, my wife saw someone recommend him on the social network website. So I used yelp to email him for help.

He contacts me late that night, I describe the issue I have, he asked me to take some pictures of the panel, then he suspects the panel is broken, suggest me to replace it first, if it doesn't fix this issue I have, then he needs to troubleshooting.
I knew something wrong with my panel, I did see sparks and heard buzzes before, so i asked for the quotation,  Roger quote with reasonable price. So I haired him.

Luckily, someone cancels the appointment, so he can stop by a few days early than my original appointment.  The appointment was 8:00 AM, I was very surprised he shows up at driveway at around 7:40 AM and wait.
He and his team were very professional, without any hesitation, they start to work immediately. Remove the old panel, install the new panel, and reorganize the cables, nice and clean. He and his team patiently answer any questions I have.  

After the installation, they also patch the wall, clean the work area, hull the broken panel away. I definitely will recommend him to my friends

One more thing, after installed the new panel, it fix the electric circuit issue I have.

Roger and his team did a great job on installing the recessed lights in my living room and family room and changing the sub-panel in my garage. They are very professional and able to provide the most valuable recommendations/answers every time when I had questions, ex how many lights, what color temperature and light angles. Our living room and family room are much brighter now and we all love it.

Roger's work is efficient!! He was able to install over 40 dimmable recessed lights in my place within one working day. He also provided great customer service after the installation. In the beginning, I wasn't able to follow his suggestion to get proper switch, which took some more time to finish the installation work. But he was patient and able to finish the work on schedule. Roger and his team helped me installed several ceiling lights from scratch and they have done an awesome job. First thing I want to mention is that they are very punctual. We made appointment several weeks ago and Roger told me he would arrive around noon. Today he shows up around 11:40 and it is just on time. Their work is very professional and the whole project was finished within 2 hours. After that they helped me cleaned up everything. The overall experience is great and I am very satisfied with their job.

Another thing I want to mention is that Roger and his team are all super nice guys. I really appreciate for their time and patient to answer my questions.

We currently have multiple electrical projects going on in our home and we reached out to Roger to see if he could do the project(s). I contacted multiple electricians and Roger was the first to respond back. He stopped by to take a look at what we were asking, very honest and sincere when offering his price estimates and his opinions. We felt like he was trying to save us time and money and in these times every little amount helps.
He said he could do everything for our first project: install new recessed light fixtures, add 2 new recessed lights, fix 5 GIF outlets and replaced existing outlets/face plates. We came up with an agreed price and scheduled a date/time with him. (he's very busy so we had to wait a couple of weeks but for the agreed date/time, he showed up right on the dot)
The work was done in a timely manner and overall we were very pleased with his work.
We are moving forward with our next phase of our projects and Roger is the only electrician we'd recommend and work with.

Roger arrived my house on time at 8am, which seems too much to ask for in busy Bay Area.

When I showed Roger the ceiling fan that I planed to install on my open bean ceiling, he told me it would not look good without a base and suggested me not to. When I asked if he can install it in my master bedroom, he told me the fan would be too low and I would feel pressured. He even helped me getting LED bulbs when he shopped for his other projects because my bulbs are too outdated and not energy efficient. If he did not tell me I would not even notice the difference.

In general he gives customers best advice based on professionalism, not just for his own good. He is honest and professional. Highly recommended.

After purchasing our EV we needed to install a NEMA 14-50 outlet to charge. I was referred to Roger, texted him a few pictures, and he sent me a price and scheduled a time. He and his mate came a few days later and knocked out the job in 90 minutes. Our job was extremely straight forward, he just had to drill through stucco wall and run wire right behind our panel without a run. I probably could have found someone cheaper or tried to do it myself, but Roger was professional, efficient, friendly, and still cheaper than the estimate I got from a local company. First impressions are important. Roger made a great first impression just by answering the phone when I initially called Formosa Electric. From our earliest conversation, I could tell that Roger was a smart businessman and he knew his trade. He was professional and courteous when he came to my house to give me a quote. Before he began my project, he secured the necessary PG&E inspection time and city permitting paperwork.

I appreciated that I could send Roger questions via text and he always responded in a timely manner. I'm very pleased with the upgrade of my electrical panel to 200 amp and installation of recessed lighting in my kitchen, which definitely modernized my kitchen. Roger and his crew were knowledgeable, consulted me when they needed my feedback, they worked efficiently, and they cleaned up after their work.

I needed a local electrician that can perform ceiling recessed lights for my  place. After a couple searches I narrowed down to Formosa Electric and decided to give them a call.

Roger was the person who helped us out. He is very attentive and willing to share/ give you all the knowledge and advice. Starting from our initial appointment(need an onsite evaluation since we have over 20+ recessed lights, with high ceiling, that needs to be installed), he was being very helpful and work around our schedule. He followed up quickly and quoted us timely and provided clear break downs on all service/material charges.

Later we move forward with his proposal/quote and decided the date to begin our installation. Roger and his crew showed up even before I did, making sure all the tools, crew members and etc are ready to perform the job.

20+ lights and a couple more new switch openings - took only a couple hours. The crew left my place clean and tidy. These people are real professionals.

I have no other comments other than giving them a BIG thumbs up for the work they did. If you ever need a licensed electrician, Formosa - Roger is the man.

Now that I have met Roger, I will never have to search for another electrician again! I had some issues last week that caused me to lose power to my refrigerator and he immediately understood the urgency and came over as fast as he could to make the repairs and get me up an running.

During the repair, he suggested that my panel (which was 35 years old) get replaced but never once tried to persuade me to have him do it. I did end up asking him to do it and his service was outstanding.

As he was leaving his prior job, he sent me a text letting me know he was on his way. He even texted me a screen shot of Google Maps with his ETA! He performed the work professionally, cleaned up after himself and was thankful for the business. All this at a lower cost than the other estimates I got to replace the panel

I would HIGHLY recommend Roger and Formosa Electric to anyone needing electrical work and you can guarantee he will be the only person I call from now on!

Formosa, its owner Roger and his team are excellent professionals, they do what they say and say what they do.

I wanted a quote on installing a Tesla wall charger, job entails pulling wires from the electrical panel in the side yard into the Garage where the car charger will be installed. I sent him a picture of the garage, the side panel and a description of the work to be done, he was able to give me very competitive quote and schedule his visit to install in the same week.

Roger showed up on time with his team, installed the wires in a conduit, did the job to code and specification. I requested Roger to come back one more time to adjust the wall charger, he promptly showed up and fixed what I requested in a few minutes and did not charge me for the visit.

These guys are pros, they are easy to work with and they try hard to satisfy the customer.

I hired Formosa Electric to upgrade the electrical in my house. Roger, the owner, responded to my texts promptly and came by on a Saturday morning to give me an estimate. He carefully explained what was needed and made recommendations based on what he would do for his own home. I appreciated his honesty and expertise - he advised what upgrade work was necessary vs. what were nice to haves. After receiving bids from three other electricians, I decided to go with Formosa. Roger was very likable and professional, and his fees were reasonable.

The work was done today and I'm a satisfied customer. Roger and his crew showed up on time, and even confirmed our appointment a day in advance. Roger was super nice and pointed out something that other electricians didn't notice before. The previous home owner had breaker and electrical line ready for an EV charger. We just needed help to replace the breaker box into an outlet and install the chargepoint charger to a proper place. It only took him 20-30 mins to complete the job. Very nice and quality work! Roger Lin and the Formosa Electric crew did a excellent job installing 2 bath exaust fans, replace and installed 2 bath vanity lights, kitchen light, installed a new electrical 200 amp panel and additional 50 amp connection to the new hot tub. I highly recommend Formosa Electric. Roger the owner is knowledgeable in what he's doing, he's professional and they do excellent work yet very affordable!!!! They show up on time, courteous, cleaned up after the work is done and even wear shoe coverings to avoid dirt in your home. We are super happy with Roger's excellent work!!! He was a life saver and master electrician for our problem!!! Our bedroom lights and power outlets went out without a clear reason. We were in trouble as our baby rocking cradle needed power to help our baby sleep! I called Formosa Electric on a Monday morning, I talked to Rodger I asked him if he could come out on Wed. to give me a quote on some electrical work, he said it shouldn't be a problem, he said to text him my address so along with sending him my address I asked him if he could confirm that he is coming out sometime before Wed.  I never got a call from Rodger, or a text!!...he never showed up!!.....just stating my experience with Rodger!!

It's very easy to work with Roger.

The most concern to me at that time was living room would become ugly once he didn't cover the hole he drilled for pulling lines and repaint it well. But it turned out just perfect as he promised! You would never know where he drilled a hole on the wall or ceiling if I didn't tell you!

I also worry about light color and bright. But again, as he promised, no problem at all! And dimmer is just too helpful since my housing has so many windows sometimes you don't really need to turn them on the brightest or before bedtime, adjust light bright, it helps kids move into sleeping model.

I'm picky on professional and safety issues since these are regarding electricity and housing here are all built from wood.

Each general contractor told me they can do accessed light but Roger is the only one who has special electricity license and is qualified to become Solarcity's subcontractor. Also, he always responded very fast. It helps busy mom a lot! That's why I chose him.

After whole house LED lights project, I needed a new outlet in the garage. He did a great job than I expected.

Roger is very friendly and polite. No problem for communicating in English.

We enjoy our LED lights everyday very much. Hope so do you!

Roger is awesome. I requested numerous quotes for recessed lighting all in a day. Not only was he able to beat all the quotes, but he got back to me in a timely fashion and we were able to book a date right away. He's a professional and has extensive knowledge. He also was efficient, yet has a positive attitude. Many of the other electricians either was all about the money or just evasive when I had questions. Roger was extremely patient in answering all my questions and concerns. I live in a condo and didn't even know that installation could have caused damages. Roger was able to detect the waterline and dual copper pipes and prevented from damaging while installing. This was helpful in us notifying the crown molding crew the next day, so they did not accidentally nail into those areas. He was very personable and honest with his work. I'm a very picky individual and strive for perfection. Definitely recommend him to everyone I know.

We sent an inquiry about our Cleanroom Air Shower not working and needed to be fixed asap.
By the next day after making the inquiry, he adjusted his schedule to come take a look at the problem and fixed it in less than an hour.  He was very quick in his response, very professional, and very helpful.  He did not have to but helped explained how to fix the issue and what parts to replace in case same problem occurs again.  Since it was the first time using Formosa Electric Corp, we were honestly a little nervous if the Cleanroom Air Shower will be fixed but it was a great choice going with Roger.

Roger and team member had to delay our appointment by 2 days, because they were affected by PG&E's delay on the day of our original appointment.  They upgraded our primary breaker, and 19 circuits and
subpanel.  Good workmanship, re-plastered around the new panel(

Roger is great. Hard working individual that takes pride in the work he does. When dealing with electricity, you cant go with anyone. I had a NEMA 14-50 installed and when he came to give me a quote and also told of issues I might expect with the current electrical set up I had. But he didnt encourage me to change everything and spend money. He was honest. We scheduled the install, communicated well when he was coming and took him less than 40min to install. During the install, we talked a lot about where he came from and how he got to where he is. He feels like he is very lucky where he is at now and how he got to where he is, and he appreciated the opportunity to not only make a living and support his family, but to also to help others. We talked about solar panels, power boxes, etc. he gave his honest opinion about everything. In addition to all of this, his quote was much lower than all the other quotes I got. We are very fortunate to have found Roger!  As a licensed electrician, Roger installed/replaced recess lights in all the rooms prior to our move, on time and with reasonable price.  We were actually away on holiday but Roger would text us photos to make sure his work meets our expectation.  We return to a clean and well-lit house.  Very impressed that he and his crew clean up so well after themselves as well!

We've subsequently hired Roger for smaller jobs like replacing all outlets in the house, install two way switches, outdoor lights, and fixtures, as well as fixing a shower head.  He is jack of all trade - and a legit one!  He always has good attitude and great customer service.  He works all over east and south bay.  I would highly recommend him for any electrical and handyman work.

Seems like they do good work based on reviews/ratings, but setting up an appointment for estimation never completed. Replied to my initial contact pretty quickly after describing my request. They never followed up for an actual date. I pinged them a couple of times over the next week and a half via text but never got a response. It seems they are pretty busy, but a courtesy reply to let me know of availability would be appreciated. Perhaps the work I need done is too small of a job. In any case, I'm moving on.

I called roger on a Friday about having a electrical outlet installed and getting a quote and was able to get a good quote. they came out on Saturday afternoon for the install. 2 people showed up and knocked it out faster than expected. They were very professional with a good price to match I will definitely be using them again when I need electrical work done. Thanks guys

It is a hot day today and my house has a power blackout in the afternoon. I called Formosa (1st time, found from Yelp) and Roger guided me to the breaker panel outside the house and fixed the problem quickly. He is very helpful and professional. In the end, house is back in AC and I don't even need to pay a penny. Really pleasant experience and I definitely will use Formosa for any electrical job in the future.

Ordered a Tesla Model 3 and will be delivered this weekend.
contact Formosa Electric via Yelp for a quotation, Roger responded in few mins and came to my house for a free inspection after finished a job at Morgan Hill with 1.5 hours traffic, which I really appreciated.

the quotation was reasonable competitive for a NEMA 240V to change my model 3.

He and his team came on time and finished the job in couple of hours , ready for my model 3 delivery the next day !!

I will highly recommend Formosa Electric.

I was so desperate on having an EV CHARGE installed in the garage where I live (Apartment complex). Looked at YELP and Formosa Electric is on the top of the list that does the service. Without hesitation, I requested a quote and a few hours later I got a response from Roger L. requesting me to send photos of my garage and the electric panel which I promptly did. The next day, I texted him and messaged him back on Yelp to see if he got the images to which he replied back saying that he did soon after, he called me asking me how I wanted it to be done and started asking me questions like I am an electrician. I mean how would I know? I am trying to hire them to make the call on how it needs to be done and they're asking me? Really??!! Unfortunately, that was the last of it, didn't hear anything back from him and I was left hanging and wondering. I guess they think that they wouldn't make any money on the service I was requesting.. Ohh well..

I worked with Formosa electric on replacing my old subpanel, kitchen re-wiring, and upgrading of my main panel. Their quote was competitive and they provided really good service. They worked in a 3-person group and did a great job in all those works. They were very responsive to my messages and phone calls, and were very adaptive to my schedule as well. They arrived on time and finished the work in 2 days as they promised, and kept the site clean after the work was done. They also gave patient explanation when I had questions. The business owner even offered to help me install my address sign light in his off hours. It was a very pleasant experience working with Formosa Electric and I highly recommended it for either minor or major electric works. I'll choose Formosa again if there's any need in the future.

Reasonable price, fast response, good work, great attitude and honesty...
I chose Formosa Electric to upgrade my old subpanel, and to run new wiring for an HVAC system. Roger provided fast response and reasonable quotes, which led to my choice. He scheduled and performed the work efficiently. But that's not the best part.
On the day of scheduled work, Roger discovered inactive HVAC wires behind the cover, thus only requiring a breaker to make it live. He checked around the house to locate the wiring output and tested to confirm, then advised me to simply ask the HVAC guy to hook up the breaker and drop half of his planned projects! Instead of haggling over his lost work, Roger gladly saved me money and proceeded to replace the subpanel efficiently which passed inspection with flying colors! I'm sure other electricians can do good work too, but his attitude and honesty truly separate him from others!

Roger replaced our electrical panel today. He was absolutely superb! We wanted the work permitted and Roger was the only one who did all the work for us. Other electricians were telling us that we needed to submit the paperwork ourselves or were charging a premium for permitting. Roger made the entire process easy, quick and convenient. He also did a great job replacing our panel!  The work was done quickly and efficiently and he clearly identified future concerns for us without raising alarm bells. I got started with the upgrade of the electric panel as the old one looks ugly, and I try to get the house wired beautifully, as many of my friends are telling me that a good electrician will do you a beautiful job. I got Roger recommended by a friend of mine. and I called him, I was little late but he is patiently waiting me outside.

Once he started the talking after I told him what I want to do, I knew I have a professional and this is someone I will be my electric go to person from now on.

Nice design, worked as he describes, perfect recommendations, is the one that you need when you trying to do something about the house. Everything he recommends and I request he thinks and provide me with a good answer. Sometimes I even want to something simple but ugly he stops me and told me let us do it in a more professional and nice way.

Despite the good work, his rate is very reasonable. Talk him first and you will know it worth it!

Roger did a fantastic job installing our new Tesla charger!  Based on a personal referral he came out to our house, assessed the job, and gave me a quote a few hours later.  The next week he and his apprentice, Robert, came back out and had the unit installed in a couple hours.  This included running conduit to the main, exterior breaker and connecting through the wall to the unit in the garage.  Clean, functional, and reasonably priced!

Yes! I've been hoping to install some new ceiling lights to bright up the living/dining/play room areas at home. Through friends' referrals, I've decided to go with Roger. Aside from being professional, he has a want-to-help attitude which is particularly helpful to me as a single mom.  I can't be happier with the job well-done and the additional help (re-used/installed the replaced ceiling lights elsewhere in the house, as well as light touch-up in the rooms to make it nicer for the rooms)!

Roger is an honest, efficient and professional electrician. I called him a few times and received free consultation over the phone. He has helped me resolved some small electrical issues in my rental apartments without asking for compensation because he sincerely wants to help and build rapport with his clients. Roger was the only electrician who gave me tips on what I could easily and safely do on my own so that he wouldn't charge me for simply coming by and flipping a switch. Because of his refreshing openness to share easy fixes with me unlike other electricians, I decided he was the person to go to if the easy fixes didn't work out.

It turned out that the problem was more than simply just flipping a switch. So when he came by, it took him only 15 minutes to spot the circuit breaker problem and fix it. He's capable, honest, and he cares.

I highly recommend him as the first electrician to call for anyone living in the Tri-City Newark, Fremont, Union City area.

Initial Meeting/Quoting Process:
I recently purchased an old townhouse and the place needed some lighting upgrades to brighten up the rooms. My coworker who works in the facilities/IT department recommended Roger from Formosa Electric Corp when I told him I needed recess lights put in.
Roger was extremely accommodating and met me first thing in the morning (by request) that weekend. He was respectful and clean (wore booties even though I told him he didn't have to) as we did a walk through of the home and he attentively listened to my needs. He gave me very helpful advise as to what type of lighting options were available for what I wanted to do, and his personal opinion what would/has worked best for him (super helpful considering that I knew nothing about it). I needed recess lights installed and a fixture prepared for a hanging crystal light that I do not have yet.
Shortly after his visit, Roger sent me a quote with fairly reasonable pricing (I had quoted with another contractor before and even looked up average prices on Google). After a few more questions on the work, I immediately hired Roger and had him scheduled in for the next week.

The Work:
On the day of the scheduled work, Roger showed up promptly and ready to go (at 8:30 am)! We did a quick walk through again to confirm what needed to be done and he roughly taped the areas where I wanted to put in lights and add light switches. I rushed off to work shortly after and he promised to call and text me for confirmation on any decisions that were needed. Roger kept me up to date throughout the entire process and texted me photos of final location mark ups (so that I could confirm), then finally pictures of the end results.
By lunch, Roger texted me his progress and projected completion time to make sure I was kept informed. By the time I got home (around 2 pm), Roger was doing some finishing touches and cleaned up (picked up all the trash and vacuumed). All 17 recess lights, 2 added light switches, and some miscellaneous work in half a day! Everything was just as clean as I left it and even better, because I had amazing lighting in to see every corner of the house!

Overall, Roger's work was immaculate and he's a great guy! He not only got the electrical work done in my house, but he also helped me with some handy man type chores without any hesitation. Again, I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing in this house, but when I asked Roger for suggestions on some minor plumbing issues I had, he didn't hesitate at all the pop under the sink himself and help me modify it.

Save yourself some time and just call Roger. He's licensed and knows exactly what he's doing. I'll definitely be calling him again for any other work I need done.

I called Formosa Electric to get help fixing a couple of outlets that stopped working.  Roger immediately says, try this, and this and this first.  I don't want to charge you a fee for something you can fix yourself.  If it still doesn't work, then call me back.  

The DIY solutions did not work so I called Roger back.  He came the next day, right on time.  Fixed the problem super quick and gave me $50 off his quoted fee!

Needed 20 dimmable recessed lights installed at our house in San Mateo.  Roger from Formosa Electric to the rescue! I've used Formosa for two different jobs at my house. Once was on an hourly basis, to troubleshoot and fix an issue I was having with outlet wiring, and another at a fixed price for a specific job (installing a ceiling light junction box). In both cases I was happy with the pricing and the work they did. For the ceiling light job, I think the work ended up being more complicated then they initially expected but they still charged their quoted priced. Will go back to them if I have any more issues.

As a first time home owner, we are very careful with every decision we make as we want quality detailed work (without overpaying). We were glad to have Roger to help us with lighting installation.

It's an old 1960's home with no recessed lights on the ceiling. Roger came in and did a quick inspection with us, provided suggestion and gave us good guidance on how to best light up our home. He is patient with all of our questions and returned all our emails within 24hours.

On the day of the installation, he came at exactly the time he said he would (on a rainy day)! He checked with us the placement of light BEFORE he drilled holes. His work is great and he is very efficient.13 new dimmable recessed lights in a day! We were amazed because the lights were nicely placed and needed NO patchwork.

A few months later, we also called Roger again for install more lights for us, can't be any happier with the result!

He refused to come out!  Instead he told me what to look for and common mistakes people make installing those sockets. He told me that he wanted to save me the service charge but to call him back if I was still having problems. This review is overdue for Roger. I got my recessed lighting and exterior electric outlet installed last Oct. Roger and his team came over for an estimate. Made professional suggestion on the location of the light on ceiling and how many lights based on the living space. The estimate sent to me the next day by email. Came on time as scheduled, drilled the holes on the ceiling; routed the wire; installed the LED lights; moved the furnitures and carpets; installed new switches if there is no existing one to connect to; plastered the ceiling to make it look like as it was; cleaned the mess; moved back the furnitures. Voila, my place becomes so bright. No mess; no fuss.

I ended up asking him to install couple more recessed lighting and upgrade my switches with dimmer to save energy. Roger is also a great handyman. He helped to have my shower handler fixed. Instead of changing the entire handler; he recommended only cartridge replace is necessary. Of course, saving me $$$.

Roger is CA licensed electrician. Insured and bonded. Great customer services; very responsive on inquires. Job is done on time with great quality and reasonable price. My home project won't get done without Roger's help. Highly recommend.

Received many quotes from Home Advisor's recommended all are high with poor Yelp listing!  Found Formosa Electric and Roger with great reviews under Yelp. Provided the best quote. Roger and his crew upgrade my recessed power panel and refinish the stucco wall in a few hours. Excellent workmanship! No nonsense single price quote includes all work, permits and signoff. Price is almost half of all Home Advisor's quoted cost with break outs for permit and PG&E. Many thanks to Roger and his crew!!

Roger saved my day! Somehow my main power switch decided that it was the end of his service and left the whole house out of power during the storm season! Roger got my call and was able to trouble shoot through facetime. He then went to get the part which is hard to find and dropped by my house in the afternoon. BOOM my power is back again! Now that I am reading the previous reviews and learned that he does kitchens, bathrooms as well?!! I will just call him next time when anything happens then.

Two of our in-the-ceiling fluorescent light fixtures (each has three 32 T8 tubes) went dark last Friday which resulted in half of our meeting room without sufficient lighting. The two fixtures were controlled by two switches: one controls the two outside tubes of both fixtures and the other controls the center tube of both fixtures. It appeared that the two ballasts drive the 2 and 4 tubes in 2 separate fixtures gave up. We contacted multiple companies looking for help, after explaining our light configuration, they all recommended replacing with LED lights and none was interested in replacing the ballasts for us. We have total eight similar fixtures, it does not look right replacing just two and it is not economical in both money and time to replace all eight either. On Sunday afternoon I called Formosa Electric and Roger answered promptly, he explained to me our options including replacing with LED and ballast replacement (with a very reasonable price). Since the meeting room is needed for a scheduled event at 6 PM on Monday, Roger graciously agreed to squeeze us in between 4 and 6 PM Monday to replace the ballasts. He also asked us send him pictures of the old and new ballasts to make sure we have the right replacement parts, BTW, the old ballast models were discontinued and we scouted all over town and purchased two compatible ones. The friendly electrician Jim arrived at 5:25 PM amid constant rain outside and a delay completing his previous job due to the late arrival of PG&E. He quickly sorted through the confusing wiring, replaced the ballasts and our lights were back on at 5:50 in time for the 6 PM meeting. Thanks to Formosa's Roger and Jim for solving our pressing issue, moreover, we are very happy that we have found a capable company for our future electrical needs!

Roger and his team were very punctual and kept to his committed time.  Aside from a minor misunderstanding on the initial pricing, everything was smooth.  His team clearly communicated how they would install and highlighted any risks that were associated.  They installed an outdoor outlet in my backyard (extending from a previous outlet) and also a new outlet in my garage.  I followed their recommendation and overall installation was clean and by code.  I highly would recommend and would use them again.

We were just moved few weeks ago and would like to install recess light for our new home.we went through few contacts and decided to get help from Roger. We were in the rush as we hope to have everything done before we move in to our new home. (We just have a couple of weeks left when we contacted him). Roger was very kind and able to come very soon to our place to give us a quote. He is not a regular electrician whom will just follow whatever you told him to do, he will suggest and explain what you can do the best for your house. Despite of his busy and packed schedule, we were so pleased that he was able to squeeze us in their schedule before we move in. On that day, they even came early to start the works. All of them are very professional and friendly too. I did have few issues on our house cabling and wiring set up and they were willing to help, answering all my questions. They will not just simply put up the lights but will carefully plan and discuss with us the possible way of the lighting position. They also worked very fast and efficiently. Good contractors are busy contractors. A statement as true as any other especially when it comes to describing Rodger. I needed 100 plugs and switches and some bath fans and lights replaced in three units of an apartment building. Probably not the most exciting job for an experienced electrician but Rodger followed through with all that I needed to have done and even gave advice as to what type of lights would be best for our situations.  He arrived right on time early Saturday morning and got right to work, finished at the targeted time and, when he left, the units were cleaned up and his work left me confident that the job was done well. Good and busy works for me. Will be calling on Rodger again.

I just upgraded my old electric panel with the Roger's help. He is a Very genuine, friendly guy to work with. It's very hard to find a person like him these days.

His team came on time and carefully did all the work nicely and efficiently. It's very nice talking to him as well. He explained all the work he is going to do and what needs to be done for any future switches in the panel...  He also waited until the county permit verification. After all the verification only, he came to the payment.

I contacted Roger for installing an outlet and to replace a fan. He was able to come by pretty quickly and give me a verbal quote. It took a while for me to get the right fan and when I called back Roger didn't remember any of the details. After a few texts and calls I was able to schedule a date and get the work done. Roger is a nice guy and does a good job. After a couple of days the fan started to make a clicking  sound as it wobbled a little and I called Roger back. He was not willing to listen and come to take a look. The response was that it can't be his installation,  it must be my fan. Plus he wanted hourly charge to come take a look. I expected him to be willing to  at least come and  take a look as I had paid top dollars for the work he had done.

Roger is very professional and respectful. He gave us an honest quote and assessment on our home and suggested strongly that we replace our original electrical box before we ran power under our house to the sump pumps. He called PG&E and did all of the scheduling, he also installed GFCI in our box instead of under the house where the outlets would be for our convenience.

He also installed an exterior outlet and 2 exterior wall lights on our garage. Top notch work!

Overall, he made us feel comfortable while we had to step in and out of the house for several hours and we extremely polite and professional. He has been a pleasure to work with!

I called Roger from the day I got my property. He came by, checked all the electricity system and explained to me the possible issues and solutions in detail. After that, he helped us to get the permits we need, contact the electricity provider, upgrade our system, pass the inspection and clean up everything. Roger deserves a high rating. I came home and part of my bedroom had no power, the breakers and ground faults were all fine. He first told me over the phone what to check myself so I wouldn't have to pay for him to come out. After three try's, I told him to come over if possible, it was already 4:30. He arrived 20 minutes later and began working. Thirty minutes later it was fixed, loose connection in the attic- I would never have found that myself. Thank God it wasn't anything major - Roger was so prompt and no nonsense, and reasonable price also. I'll be calling Formosa next time for sure !!

We requested several quotes from multiple electricians and lamp shops to fix 8 installed ceiling lights ( replace the lights and the installed base ), Roger's quote isn't the cheapest but I chose him and felt super satisfied with his services as below:

1. Super Efficient: Upon calling him, he instructed me to send him pictures of the broken ceiling light to quickly identify the issues and provide recommendations for fixture. He was able to provide recommendation and pricing within 50 minutes upon my request.
2. Transparent pricing : He was very specific and transparent about pricing up front no adding cost after the work is done. From what I observed, he was experienced electrician/ GC to be able to provide good pricing estimate.
3. Knowledgeable and experienced ( saved me a lot of time) : I got another quote from another electrician for 4 hours of work while Roger only used 1 hour and 30 minute to finish the project. With the same pricing I would chose Roger as he saved me lots of time given his experience.
4. Good personality and willing to help:   We had several other electrical problems and questions later on, he was always nice and quickly response to our question and provide quick solution to help us fix the issue through phone call. ( What a life saver!)

I was VERY impressed!  We had a circuit go out and Roger squeezed us in to fix it that evening. He was on time and very professional. He had the problem diagnosed and fixed very quickly.  A few days later we had him back to install some outdoor electrical outlets for some fountains and a sprinkler control box.  He brought a helper and they did a great job.  We were impressed with both of them as people and as electricians. I've been wanting to replace a number of existing can lights with the PL-type plug-in fluorescent lamps with LEDs for a while but hadn't pulled the trigger on an electrician to do the work. I then saw a great review from an acquaintance of mine on FB for Roger and Formosa Electric. It was then I decided to message him and he responded within a day with a quote and agreed on a day to come out and do the work. He arrived on time at 3 pm Friday, 1/20 (which, honestly surprised me since he said he would be coming from a job in San Jose, and the weather was horrible for most of the day), pulled on shoe covers before coming in, we then discussed the final scope of work, and he went ahead, pulling out the old cans and ballasts, and installed the new cans and fixtures (I provided) quickly and professionally. The cost was very reasonable, and I would recommend him for most residential and light commercial work without hesitation.

It took a while to get the correspondence straight with Roger for our project but once the schedule was set, he showed up promptly to start the work, which I'm greatful. We had Roger put in new recessed lights for our kitchen & family area. He and his crew did a fantastic job. They had to cut couple of holes to run the wire but patched them up really well and clean up after themselves, especially one of the crew Mr Chang. We're happy with the turn out. We also had him put new wire for the tankless water heater. The work ran smoothly but there's little glitch with the pump not putting back to be used with the tankless hence it takes too long to get hot water. Roger came back to take a look and promised to sort this out for us. Thank you, Roger. Also, I'm very grateful for swinging by, with your busy schedule, to help fixing the electrical switches that I messed up after you guys installed the recessed lights and didn't charge me xtra. Roger is a true professional with a great attitude.  He arrived exactly on time and did several jobs for us: rewired furnace to a dedicated breaker, installed LED ceiling lights in two rooms, replaced energy wasting halogen fixtures with LED units, and even fixed a dangerous wiring job done by a previous contractor.  He completed everything within the estimated time and was careful to not leave a mess.  You can tell by watching and talking with him that he has a lot of experience and genuinely cares about what's best for you.  He made our home feel safer and more comfortable.  5 well deserved stars!

We had an emergency and the property was out of electricity in a cold winter day.  We called Formosa and requested the same day service.  All the other electricians in the bay area told us they were all booked until the week after, except one who would charge an exponential amount.  Formosa kept his promise and came to our rescue late into the evening, and fixed the problem in no time.  He also quickly identified the heater problem.  By watching him working, I could tell he was the best electrician. Could not wait to write this review. You hardly get satisfying service these days and I am so glad to have my bath fans installed by them. Roger is fantastic. We asked him to install recess lighting at our place. He was very patient with my wife and I as we debated the exact placement of the lights. He was very honest with us about where we could and couldn't put the lights. He even recommended that we not install any recess lights in our living room talking himself out of work because he didn't want us to be unhappy with the location of the lights. I also happened to be trying to install a range hood over my cooktop. He noticed I wasn't doing it right and offered to help me get it installed correctly.  Needless to say we're very happy with his work and completely recommend him.

Roger is a very dependable electrician.  He is very knowledgeable, polite, and a funny guy.  He has worked on two houses for me and we are always satisfied with his work.  He worked on all of our electrical issues, and also installed our security cameras. The quality of his work is top notch and fast too.  The price is very reasonable.  Highly Recommended!

Roger was awesome. He came to my home and even through our buildings were confusing he had a great attitude. I had a dryer outlet that was sparking when best buy tried to install it. Roger came in, found the issue immediately and told me how it actually happened. I would definitely contact to him again and recommend him to anyone!

Half of my house got power outage. I found Roger through Yelp to get power back. Usually I don't believe 5 stars review, but this time I believe it. Roger is very professional, customers oriented, and honest. When I called him, he taught me how to do troubleshooting first. He wants to save my money. After few trials the problem was still there. I called him second time and he did remote inspection and immediately found out the problem. Luckily he got a time slot and right away came over to get my house power back. If I need an electrician in the future, definitely I will call Roger again. If you need an electrician; Roger, is highly recommended.

Roger installed all 24 recessed lights in 5 different rooms for us within one day. He brought all materials and lights with him, so we don't have to purchase them by ourselves, and worry about purchasing the wrong items. He took input from us on what lights and switches we want. All we needed to do is to open the door for him in the morning, review where the switches and lights should be, leave the house for work, and come back to see all lights installed with no trace of dust! His service is superb and highly recommended.

Roger installed recess lighting at our home and did a good job!    He was fast in responding to all my questions and concerns.   On the day of the installation, he stayed late to complete the job, and clean up the area.  His price is reasonable.   I would recommend him to anyone!

I am glad I found Roger to help us remodel our new house. After comparison with a couple of electricians, we decided to go with Roger for the following reasons,
1.  Prompt response
    Roger was quick to respond our questions, either in texts or phones. He was very patient to answer our inquiry and came to estimate in 3 days. Giving us no pressure to compare and time to think if we would like to work with him.
2. Working on time
On the arranging lighting installment days, Roger and his partner showed up in our door on time. They spent two days to install 8 recessed lights in our family room and 8 recessed lights in our two bedrooms. Replacing two exhaust bath fans and installing two more lights in the garage. They double checked with us if lighting positions were ok before drilling.  
3. No mess
After installment, they even helped us clean up the floor. No mess left. It saves mommy's big cleanup work! Thank you!

I would highly recommend Roger for anyone who is looking for a qualified and responsible electrician. Very professional and courteous! We will definitely call him again if we need any electrical work.

Roger is a professional and licensed electrician with enthusiasm. He replaced all the old electrical wires in my house and installed recessed lights in all of my rooms. The work was completed nice and fast. I believe it takes many years of experience to perform such a great job. My place is in San Jose, so I believe his service covers the whole Bay area. If you have any electrical issue, I would sincerely recommend Roger to you.

We needed an electrician to install a NEMA1450 for our new Tesla.  It was between Christmas and New year, I called several electricians with great Yelp reviews.  No one answered because of the holiday, except for Roger. He personally answered and came out the same day to give me a quote.  It turned out that our main panel was really old and would be a hazard to put on more load,  He would not proceed because of the danger, unless we upgraded the panel, which we agreed to, as our neighbors have mostly upgraded years ago and as we had not long ago added a big load for the air conditioner. He gave a quote right away including permitting. The price is very reasonable compared to another quote by email/pictures only from a Tesla approved installer that we got later.  The install date was postponed 2 times because of rain or PG&E cancelling the appointment. The job involved raising our power line on the roof up by 2ft and trimming trees in the way. Each time Roger communicated ahead and scheduled a new appointment.  The job took a whole day.  We chatted often as he worked.  We found out that Roger is not your typical electrician.  He's got a MSEE degree and work experience at PG&E!  Roger is so pleasant to talk to.  He really enjoys the work and meeting people.  After the long day, Roger even stayed to fix some things inside the house.  We have worked with many electricians for both residential and commercial needs.  Roger is the best by far for his knowledge, skills, and dependability. We highly recommend him!

We have just installed 26 recessed lights in our house by Roger. We are very happy with the result, and the overall experience is very pleasant. Roger is a very good listener, and he is very experienced and skilled. We had several electrician came over for estimates and everyone told us that in our living room, our high ceiling wall have to be opened in order to install 8 recessed lights. We decided to go with Roger, even though he was not the cheapest, we are very happy with our decision. Our living room now is so bight and there is zero damage to the our wall. We don't have to find another painter to fix any damage to our high ceiling. Also, we requested to add an outlet in the hallway, again, he pulled it off again and no damage to the wall. He also made good suggestions to replace our two existing old light fixtures to brand new recessed light free of charge. We are very satisfied with the result and are happy to work with him again in the future.
