Henry and his team did an amazing job upgrading my old panel to a 200 amp and running a separate NEMA 14-50 line for my electric car.

I appreciate that Henry was honest and saved me money by recommending a different option to my original request. Communication was very easy and straightforward. His price is very reasonable and he didn't try to upsell me compared to other businesses I had quotes from. He pointed out things that I might want to look into upgrading in the future.

The day of the appointment, Henry came on time with his team. Everyone was friendly and professional. They were respectful of keeping my home clean. They laid a cloth from the door to the crawl space entrance. They cleaned everything before they left.

Everything was completed ahead of schedule. Henry made the process very easy with PG&E and the city of San Jose for permits. I was surprised when he told me everything is done and they were leaving. Henry and his team did an excellent job installing our new electrical panel. Henry was very responsive to our needs and concerns regarding the project. We had an old panel that needed a replacement for a long time. Henry did a great job sharing the quote and getting the whole permitting process to get the installation completed. On the installation day, Henry had a personal emergency, and his crew showed up. They did a decent job but conveniently left a hole on my roof. I noticed it while they were waiting for the city inspector to show up. They said it was a new panel, and it had a different alignment.  I need to get my roofing contractor to fix this.  It wasn't comforting to hear such an explanation. Funnily they took a metal plate and nailed it to hide the whole. Neither the city inspector nor the pg&e person noticed anything wrong. The crew also forgot to label the furnace.  Which they returned did the next day.  Then came the rain, and I found my roof leaking and water going inside the panel. I called a roofing contractor to fix the problem, and thankfully, there wasn't much damage inside the house. I may still need to repaint the interior of the house and fix some open cracks left by hammering.
The stucco person did fantastic work. Overall I am a bit disappointed. If Henry were physically here, it would have been a better experience. So if any of you are upgrading panel, please do close attention to the roof.

I called Henry around 5 am, and he answered the call. I had a semi emergency and asked him to come by and help check out around 6:30 am, and he said sure.

I had some issue with flickering lights since shelter in place, lights dim when microwave is a on, and we can hear sizzling sound and power went out when the dryer is on. Henry helped identify the issue and replaced the main and sub panel. His price is almost half of the other bigger company that I checked out the previous day. And his work is of top quality.

Henry is sharp and analyzes problems logically. He always explains to you what's his thinking, why he wants to take some actions, etc. He identified issues and some burning signs in the panel (which is probably more than 40 years old). He also checked various lines and wiring to see if the problem could be PG&E related. Eventually, he and his helpful coworker replaced the panels within a few hours, and the flickering lights and weak electricity problem was gone ever since.

In addition, Henry is very well connected given his almost 30 years of experience in the industry. He knows the supervisor who's in charge of the city permit and can sort things out quickly; he recommended a stucco guy who helped repair the external wall and did a good job with reasonable price; he also recommended an HVAC guy (lots of my appliances are unfortunately broken down at the worst time) who helped check out my AC and gave a quite reasonable quote (compared to the bigger company mentioned earlier).

In general, Henry is very resourceful and can be very much trusted and relied on. I really appreciate his help with my emergency. I would definitively call Henry for any future electricity issues or other types of issues (just in case he has some good referrals), and would highly recommend him to anyone who's looking for a 'primary' electrician :)

After a recommendation for California Window & Fireplace, Henry & his team came out to install power for a gas fireplace insert.  They were all so professional, courteous, and friendly!  I couldn't be happier!  The job was done quickly, efficiently, and looks great.  In fact, besides the gleaming new plug in the fireplace, you would never know that they were here.  I would highly recommend them without reservation and will use them again for any and all electrical needs.  If you need an electrician, call California Power & Light - you won't be disappointed!

Henry and his team are the BEST!! Highly recommend. They are communicative, honest, professional, prompt and some of the nicest dudes you'll ever meet. They completed a full electrical panel upgrade on our 20+ year old panel that was burning out so that we could install solar panels on our roof. They also installed two ceiling fan boxes and the fans themselves in our kid's rooms and did an awesome job.

We had a series of not-so-great contractors come through our house to do a bunch of work, and felt that these guys are a breath of fresh air by comparison. They will remind you of your favorite uncle who always has your back.  I'm hiring them for all my electrical work and telling everyone we know that they need to hire these guys to do any and all electrical work.

We had a great experience with CP&L! Henry gave a quick quote on the 5 small projects we had saved up and explained how he would do the work. We were able to schedule the work very quickly.

On the day of the project, Henry showed up, did a quick walk through of the projects with me, introduced me to his team, and then got them to work. 3 hours later, everything was installed, wired, looking great, and working perfectly. The team was friendly, professional, and efficient.

I'll definitely keep CP&L in mind for any future electrical projects that are beyond my (very limited) abilities.

The light above our kitchen sink burnt out.  Yesterday I tried to replace the bulb and ended up accidently pulling the light fixture out of the ceiling trying to get to the bulb.  I called Henry this morning and he said he could send someone out today.  Mike came out early this afternoon and did a great job fixing my mess.  He took out the old fixture and wired up the new fixture.  He was courteous and friendly!  It was a small job and I was very thankful Henry was able to send Mike out so quickly.  We highly recommend CP&L and will definitely use them in the future!

Henry was very responsive when he gave me a quote over the phone to install some motion floodlights on our home.  His Team was very friendly and professional.  It is obvious that they know what they were doing.  They were efficient and answered any questions that I had.  I would highly recommend them.  In fact, we already recommended them to a relative for some work that he also needed done.

Our front porch lights (3 in total) had sort of stopped working; one worked, but the other two didn't.  I didn't think it would be a complicated issues, so contacted Home Advisors and set up a fixed price appointment.  The contractor they sent was here for several hours and couldn't fix the issue.  He made a mess of the area he worked in and I couldn't understand 90% of what he said.

Henry and his team were here for under an hour, found the issue, explained everything to me in a way that I could understand it and fixed all the issues.

I avoid hiring contractors like the plaque so giving this 5 star review says a lot about CPL.  I have an old Zinsco electric panel which needed to be upgraded in order for me to install heat pumps for the upcoming heat wave. Henry, the owner was responsive, informative and extremely price competitive.  He and his crew, including the stucco contractor (A+) were punctual, professional and fast.  

I added several items to the job up to the date of the job and he worked with me through the changes without any issues.  I have also contacted him a dozen times throughout the process and he would always promptly call me back whether it was the weekend, day or evening.  I would highly recommend Henry and his crew and consider CPL the go-to team for all my future electrical needs.

Henry is great about calling you back, showing up when he says he will be there, and understanding quickly what you want done. His team does a great job on the install and leaves a clean work area. Today was the second time we've use CA Power & Light and we will definitely use them again. Not inexpensive, but you really get what you pay for. Professionalism, the job done right, and efficient use of your time as a customer. It's important to them that you're happy when the job is done.

Had an urgent electrical repair, and Henry answered the phone late in the evening, discussed the issue to reassure me it could wait until the next morning if I wanted to avoid the emergency call fee, and squeezed in my job the next day so that we could get back up and running.  Henry showed up as agreed, wore a mask, got the work done faster than I'd have believed possible, and did a great job at a fair price. 100% recommended for your electrical jobs, emergency or not.

Henry did a great job installing a NEMA14-50R and additional GFI breakers in my garage. Super friendly and responsive in communication. Very accommodating when it comes to scheduling, knowledgeable and works really fast! I had to get back to him a few weeks after the installation due to an unknown problem on my side. He came out the next day, checked everything and helped me solve it. Definitely highly recommend!

We hired Henry through emberwest fireplace. The quote given was the price we paid. They re routes the electrical so we can mount a TV above the fire place. Did a good job and was very neat. Cleaned up after them selves too.

We called California Power and Light because it was a Diamond Certified company and we needed our electrical panel upgraded. Henry came out, gave us a fair estimate and completed the work in a timely manner.
I recommend CPL because they do great work, Henry is very friendly, knowledgeable and easy to work with.

I should preface this with the fact that I have not received service from them, but they're Yelp presence and correspondence needs some work.

If a merchant uses the request quote button, then they should sincerely put forth an effort to actually contact the customers when it's used.

It's very annoying for customers to use the button and then get a canned response to call in to their office M-F during regular business hours for help or assistance.  Take the button down if you're not going to use it sincerely and ethically, otherwise I feel you're not advertising in good faith.

I ran into Henry and his team this morning by accidents in my neighborhood while he was on his way to meet his client. So happy to have talked to him. 20 minutes later, he was at my place, diagnosing the inconsistent fixture issues, which apparently another household in the community was having the same problem, proposed a solution with a very reasonable pricing. The crew showed up on time, were very polite, worked on the project efficiently, and cleaned up nicely when they finished the job. Henry was also at my house in the end to ensure everything was carried out as planned.  Also, they all wore masks and were very respectful to the household environment given that we currently work from home with virtual work meetings. Thanks Henry and team again for providing such great work. The house looks more beautiful now that the lighting/energy temperature is consistent throughout!

We had an absolutely awesome experience with Henry and his crew. They replaced our electric panel, and installed several can lights. They were at our house during a rain storm (what are the chances) and each of the crew members took off their shoes outside to keep our house clean. They did a great cleanup. Also, they came back this past weekend to do the labeling of the panel because they couldn't get it done during their full day at our house. Henry is also very responsive to text messages and was great about keeping in touch with my wife throughout the process. Highly recommend them.

I have used this company in the past and was really happy with the straightforward way they deal with their customers. I received a return call very shortly after my initial call and I got an appointment for the following week.
The fans I had needed to be installed in rooms with 17' cathedral ceilings, so they had to run power to both places.
They did and excellent job in both locations, no unnecessary damage or mess. The rooms were carefully protected with plastic wrap.  
The work was done quickly and efficiently and the fans work beautifully!

These guys are absolutely amazing. They made an initial visit to assess the problem and then squeezed us in to find and do the repair. They were in and out in just over 40 minutes. On the initial visit the possible bad receptacles were marked so they came in and checked until they found the problem which involved putting in a new outlet. Easy peasy.

Henry and his crew worked really fast (1 day) to replace my decades-old 60amp Zinsco panel with a 200amp semi-flush panel, install my car charger, install an outlet for my electric fireplace, and run a new line for my heat pump water heater, apply for the city permit/inspection, apply for the PG&E hookup. Dryer wasn't heating and appliance repairman told me the problem wasn't the dryer, it was an electrical issue. Electrician from CP&L came out and checked the circuits (they were fine) and also determined that there was no visible heat damage to the power cord. He said that the repairman was wrong and the problem wasn't electrical. He recommended a licensed appliance repair company and I contacted them and they fixed the issue, which was a sensor in the dryer. Appreciate the electrician's checking things and also giving me a good recommendation for appliance repair.

Excellent Electricians, I was in a real bind with my electric panel, it got re-wired incorrectly by a previous electrician who didn't know what the heck he was doing, this knocked out my cook-top and Washer/Dryer 240V setup.

So I called California Light & Power, they came onsite with an hour, were very professional, knew their stuff and were able to explain what the issue was and what my options were. Got me back up and running same day, simply awesome service. Pretty reasonable on the price too.

Highly recommend Henry and his crew. Henry responds quickly, explains everything well, and pricing was very good. He and his team changed our subpanel, installed a transfer switch and installed some floodlights. They were always on time, worked quickly, and were very professional. Will be calling him for all our electrical needs going forward.

Henry was able to work to fit my schedule for upgrading my service panel to 200A earlier this summer.  He was willing to give a quote remotely when I was shopping around and stuck to it.
Henry and his crew were friendly and finished things on time.  Along with the service upgrade, they added a couple new branches including one into an overhead garage storage space which was more difficult to run.  They handled all permits and found a stucco tradesman who did a good job restoring and matching the existing stucco style.  Several months later now, everything is still good.

Overall, responsive with reasonable rates and a clean install.

I had a little problem with one of smoke detectors. From making a schedule to final repair, the whole process was very quick and efficient. It was very hard to make a schedule with other companies since they were not available in a few days to two weeks, but California power & light was very flexible and quickly made an appointment on the same date I called.

The appointment was made for 8am in the  morning (not time frame), and Henry came on time, was very friendly and knowledgeable, and fixed the issue right away.

Henry and his team are fantastic. They have done a lot of work on my house from upgrading my panel, adding recessed lights and outlets. They are reasonably priced, on time and very clean. I see there are a lot of 5 stars reviews here. He probably does some decent works for those guys.  I am telling you my experience with Henry.

Portions of lights on the same circuit breaker went out, including a ceiling fan. I was hoping to find an electrician to assess what the problem might be and attempt to repair for me.

To be fair, he came on time.  Upon arrival, he told me it's $120 instead of the $90 he told me over phone two days ago.

He started putting his detector around each of the breakers in my power panel. Somehow for some reason, the lights just came on. That was about 5 minutes.  Then he started preaching he had temporarily fixed my problem, but the bigger and real problem is my outdated Zinsco panel.  To do a complete replace, he needs to work with PG&E and the city, the total cost is $2500.  He then charged me $120 for the diagnosis.  

Two hours later, the lights failed to turn on again, I wanted to have him back, he said if I wanted to have him back for a troubleshoot, it is $450.  Again, to be fair, he did say the $120 I paid can be applied to the $450.

Throughout his service, he did not even bother to troubleshoot at all. He did not even open wall switch box of the problem lights to measure voltage, or listen to me describe the symptoms I observed; rather he spent time telling me my panel is old (sure, of course I know), and stated in Marin county, it is illegal to have this kind of Zinsco panel because of fire hazard, then urged me to go online to see the complaints on Zinsco panel. Again, to be fair, he said I should get bids from other electrician and see how much it cost to replace, which implied he did not force me to get the work done by him.  

Well, I would rather have him spend the one hour to really troubleshoot my problem, just like another electrician did later. I had Dale Aimers came over and fixed my problem. It was a wire nut in the ceiling fan box that went loose.

I complained to him, I told him I was not happy to pay $120 for virtually nothing done.  I suggested $50 for his time and gas, he agreed, and refunded me $70 dollars, he agreed to my term, that was a star added.

Can't recommend California Power & Light enough - Henry and his crew are awesome to work with. We had Henry out to look at adding a few outlets, replacing our panel and removing crimping and re grounding the house.  Henry had the the most competitive price and delivered all work on time and at a great level of quality.  This is a great company and I would recommend them to anyone.

We just had California Power & Light Corp add an extension for the electric source we'll need for our expected fireplace insert. The response time to get our estimate was quick and all of our questions were patiently answered. They arrived to our home as arranged and made this modification a breeze for us. Keep their number handy for when you need a solid recommendation.

If you need electrical work done, you should use this company.  Henry and his crew are responsive, professional and very detail oriented.  They installed a hard to reach fixture for us, as well as installing some recessed lighting and grounded plug.

We had a snafu when the fixture we bought turned out to be defective, but we got a replacement, and the crew was back as soon as it came in.  Communication was easy.

I'm EXTREMELY happy with their work and recommend them highly.

Henry, and especially his team members, did a superb job. A/C went out on the first hot day in June. An A/C repair person determined it was an electrical issue, but was too busy to finish the job right then. Turned to Henry and his team came out, sorted out the issue and spent one afternoon then the next morning resolving it (basically rerouted a low voltage wire from an attic through wall, down conduit to outside A/C unit.) I was 100% satisfied with the work. His team is professional, friendly, and conscientious. Will definitely use CPL again.

Henry and his crew have done a couple of jobs for me so far and they have been great.  They installed over a dozen recessed lights in my house.  Their patch works was fantastic and I can't even tell there was ever a missing strip on my ceiling.  

They also installed a new breaker panel in my home after my old one was shorting out and very dangerous.  Henry acknowledged the urgency of the situation and came over within a very reasonable amount of time and installed a new panel.  These guys are great and I highly recommend them!

This is an overdue review. Henry installed a new electric panel for us. Our electric panel was very old and could become dangerous. It started with a failed AC problem and an incompetent and dishonet electric company came and diagnosed incorrectly pointing to a bad electric panel. That company wanted to charge me over $10,000 to replace my electric panel. My mental calculation knew it was way too expensive. That made me to find Henry. Henry came and tested my system and found that my AC problem had nothing to do with my electric panel. My electric panel was working fine although very old. My AC short circuited and tripped the circuit breaker in the electric panel. I found an AC guy to fix the AC and a couple of hundreds dollars resolved all of my problem. While on site for this, I asked Henry to give me a quote to replace the electric panel. His quote was less than one third of that from the first dishonest company. Henry said that it was not urgent for me to replace this electric panel. But I went ahead anyway. It was an upgrade and also gave me a peace of mind. Henry was very professional and did a clean and nice job. He handled all the permits and scheduling with PG&E. I am very happy with it. I highly recommend Henry for any of your electric needs.

I lost all power in my home due to a burnt breaker panel in the middle of the night. Henry was available early on Saturday morning for an emergency electrical repair. I had full power again by 2pm that day. Henry was fast, responsive and friendly. Highly recommended!

Henry and his crew are professional, efficient, affordable, and timely. I had a fuse box upgraded to a breaker box and they surpassed my expectations. They even did things I didn't know to ask about. For example, my power line hung a little low and they raised the pole on my roof and tightened the line so it hangs at least five feet higher than it used to. CPL will now be my go to electricians for my family and I from here on out. Thank you. Much respect.

If you want to both solve your house's electrical problems and understand what's going on, Henry's your guy.

We were having a number of electrical difficulties with our recently purchased home: random outlets were out, grounds were missing, and plumbing was electrified (and shocking us!). In hindsight, this was probably the worse possible scenario you could present to an electrician, and it speaks volumes that Henry knocked it out as rapidly as he did.

We contacted a number of (5-star + many-reviewed on yelp!) electricians for troubleshooting and quotes, and came across two problematic types:
- Some were unable to even replicate the problem until we pulled out our own multimeter and started troubleshooting for them --- they seemed out of their depth on anything outside the routine. Not exactly a confidence booster!
- Some would tell us the problem was black and white and promise to solve it with some sort of hacky quick fix, before having even examined the electrical system in detail. In hindsight, these quick fixes would have kept us shrouded in ignorance about the messed up wiring in our walls, and would likely have made future electrical problems even harder to fix. Our current problems were in fact caused by the accumulation of many of these hacks. (surprisingly, the quotes we received for these hacks weren't significantly cheaper than Henry)

Most importantly, no one we talked to was able to competently describe what was wrong in our house, or how exactly they planned to fix it.

At our wits end, we called Henry. Here is what happened:
1. He informed us up front what the pricing would look like for coming out and for troubleshooting. These numbers never changed, even as the complexity of the problem grew and even as he had to come back the next day to finish the job.
2. He showed up, and immediately went about attempting to rule out obvious problems (e.g. does the house have a solid ground, etc.), and on his own quickly replicated the problem we had observed.
3. Once he had an idea of what the troubleshooting would entail, he clearly described what it would and would not involve (although he ended up throwing in a bit of the latter anyways) and began in earnest.
4. This is the big one. Henry invited me to follow him around *everywhere* and explained exactly what he was doing at each step. I learned a tremendous amount about how our house was wired, how (and why) houses are supposed to be wired, and where handyman-types had messed with the original wiring of our house. The service price was worth the information download alone.
5. In the process, he uncovered a number of other problems with our wiring and laid them out to us. This stuff doesn't sound serious until it results in someone in your family getting electrocuted in the shower (not fun, I can tell you).
6. Another big one: after fixing the problem, Henry could have easily packed up, pocketed our cash, and gone home. Instead, he asked me to go through the house and verify that nothing else had been messed up by his fix. It turns out something *had*: several outlets and a major light in the house were inexplicably no longer working. Henry tried for multiple hours to fix it, but had to go home and promised to come back the next day to finish the job.
7. As promised, he returned the next morning, crawled into the attic, and quickly discovered that the culprit was some hackjob electrical work from the previous owners that was rerouting power in seriously problematic ways.
8. Finally, he sat down with us and described the various ancillary problems he'd observed throughout the house and what it would take to fix them.

One rude electrician!!! I called on Saturday asking if he can have someone to check my garage outlet.It stopped working. He said it is $250 for just going out because this is an emergency. then before I can say anything, he just hung up. So rude.

Can't recommend California Power and Light enough! Henry and his guys know what they are doing. I've used them for several jobs, at two homes. Most recently we had them upgrade our panel, re-splice our crimp connections, run some new lines, and add some new outlets. All the work is completed quickly and efficiently and I am confident it's done right. Henry, the owner, came back one evening after business hours to check something we weren't sure about. He's dedicated to his work and you won't be disappointed.

California Power and Light is the go to electrical company  for getting new main panels or sub-panels installed. They know how to work with both the city government and PG&E and their work is excellent. I have also used them for re-wiring a home as well, with great results. Henry, the owner is professional and extremely efficient in getting the job done and his team are all good, qualified people.  His pricing is fair and they do very clean and tidy work. You cannot go wrong with California Power and Light!

Very professional and on time. Had a weird arc fault trip and they diagnosed it and corrected it. Henry loves to fix things and you can tell he loves what he does and wants to correct your problem. It was a kick to see him try to figure things out. Very methodical. You have a problem, just call these guys.

He let us know his top safety concerns and gave us a tier of options to upgrade the electrical. Once we took ownership of the home Henry easily slotted us into the schedule and the team completed our requested work on time. Henry gave us an accurate quote and worked with us on our overall budget to make it work. Although his prices were just slightly higher than some competitors, I found Henry and Doug to do excellent and thorough work and most importantly, they were honest with us about what truly needed to be done and what items we could wait on. We will definitely be calling them for any and all of our electrical needs.

Henry and his crew are the best. We called them about getting our remaining fluorescent fixtures replaced with LEDs, and they did a phenomenal job, cleaned up after themselves and were in and out in a couple of hours. Henry helped us understand what different lamps would look like in terms of color and brightness, and we could make the right choice (which is working really well in our space). We were so happy, we had them do the undercabinet lighting as well--which they did the next day. We are SO thrilled with the kitchen and baths now. When we need any electrical work done from now on, they are our go-to guys. Also, terrific prices, and clear communication up front.

Waking up on a quiet Sunday morning with an electricity problem.  Called PG&E.  Technician checked the issue, claimed it was a fire hazard, and cut our power.

Immediately the whole family went into panic mode.  How are we going to live without wifi?   How are we going to find an electrician on Sunday?

I can't say enough good things about this company!  It turned out we needed a complete electrical panel change.  Henry responded to my inquiry promptly, took the time to explain to me all the options I have, showed up on time for work and completed the project earlier than his original promised time.

Why?  Because CA power and light CARES ABOUT their CUSTOMERS.

It would involve the city's department, PG&E and your electrician to change/upgrade an electrical panel.  Throughout the process the only one came through is California Power and Light.

In July I called several companies about upgrading my Main Electrical 100 amp Panel ( underground line ) so that I could also upgrade our kitchen.
Several companies told me I needed a 200 amp panel and it will cost $10k-$15k to trench for a new line and take 8 months for approval.
Henry ( and 1 other company ) along with PG&E & City of San Jose said I didn't need 200 amps, only a bigger panel for more circuits.

A few months ago, Henry installed a Clipper Creek electric car charger. It was an easy enough install, nothing big. While he was doing it, he made me aware of my circuit breaker panel, an old Challenger model popular on homes built in the 80s and 90s. They are dangerous and have caused fires. I added it to the list of things I needed to do around the house.

This morning, I noticed I was popping breakers constantly doing random tasks that shouldn't have been drawing much current. Ok, so it looks like I need to do the panel sooner rather than later.

California Power and Light is amazing! Several years ago I needed to upgrade my panel and wiring in my home built in 1949. The owner came over and won the bid. California Power and Light not only upgraded my panel, but also went on to rewire my whole house, upgraded my kitchen, wired my garage and has done an amazing amount of flawless work. They are always professional and fast!!! I would recommend them to anyone who needs ANY electrical done or a problem fixed. Especially if you have a home in Willow Glen or Los Gatos area. They really understand an old house and how to prevent issues.

We had an issue where we suddenly lost power and called Henry based on the great reviews here on Yelp.  He came out quickly and identified a problem with the direct lines from PG&E, quickly called and walked through the process to have them come out quickly and resolve the problem.  Based on this great service we decided to have Henry complete a long overdue main panel replacement.  This experience was every bit as excellent.  Henry took care of all of the permits and arrangement with PG&E.  Henry and his crew were right on time, finished quickly, and were very friendly and informative.  Whenever we need electrical service or know someone who need service Henry will be our go to for sure and recommended to anyone we know.

Henry was great! I had a fan that had a piece missing so it was unable to turn off, and he was able to fix it without replacing the entire fan! He was timely with the service and friendly. Affordable rate too! I would recommend this business for anyone in need of electrical help :)

Excellent! Excellent! Needed to update lighting in the family room, breakfast area and office. Henry arrived at 10:30 AM, 30 minutes ahead of schedule, told us he could retrofit the canned lighting in the breakfast and office, to upgrading  to led. Then figured out how many can units it would take to replace the track lighting in the family room. The estimate was way lower than I ever expected. The real surprise, was he could do the work TODAY.  He went out to get the parts, and by the time he returned, his crew, Mike and Javier, were here prepping the room. Incredibly, by 3PM, all the work was done, the old hardware packed up and carried off, and the room left spotless.  The final product is beautiful! Far exceeding my expectations. I live in Morgan Hill and needed some electrical work done on my house.  The work included installing a bathroom light/fan combo, installing a ceiling fan in the living room, adding a security light outside, and adding a electrical box outside, to power my water fountain.  I liked the quick quote response and the detailed job cost & schedule.  Everything was done well and the work was finished on time, without any cost surprises.  I would highly recommend Henry and his crew for any electrical work, inside and out.  Although, he does jobs all over the bay area, we're lucky to have him based in Morgan Hill.

I have an older home, older electrical panel, and I wanted to upgrade it. I first called another Yelp top-rated electrical company for an estimate. They sent out a sales pitch rep that insisted on telling me how good the company is, showing me company brochures, yes we charge more than others, it's worth it, etc, and then revealed the cost would be shockingly (to me) high. I didn't like it.
I then called California Power and Light and spoke over the phone with the owner, Henry. He asked a few questions about my home then provided an immediate price that was literally half of what the other company quoted. Henry further disclosed that changing the electrical panel would involve cutting into the stucco wall. A city permit is also required. He said I could save some money by getting the permit myself and/or shopping around for a stucco repair service on my own. I preferred to let Henry take care of both of those issues. The out the door price was still good, far below the other company, and acceptable.  In the end I was very satisfied. His work crew did well, they finished in about 6 hours, Henry came out and did the final electrical connections and hookups.  The City of San Jose inspector approved the job the first time around. A stucco worker came out a few days later and did an equally good job in fixing the open areas around the new panel. I only need to re-paint the affected area.  
All in all, I ended up very pleased and I would use this company again.

Woke up to a blown breaker. I took the day off from work to deal with it. Called a few places. Some said they couldn't make a visit for days or even weeks.  California Power & Light said they could be at my door at noon the same day.  Showed up right on time. Doug and his partner were courteous and professional.  I have a complicated lighting setup with a few dozen lights and switches and a couple power transformers.  They troubleshot the problem to one of the transformers and had the lights on in under 90 minutes.  Put everything back together and even swept the floor.  Will definitely use them again.

Although they were quick to respond to our service call, the house visit to assess why our bathroom lights weren't working cost $89 just to assess what the electrical issue was. We were given several hypotheticals as to what the issue might be. It was going to be another $320 to troubleshoot on a later day (to go into the attic space to take a look with no guarantees that the issue would be fixed) or $550 to rewire the room altogether at a later time. We called around afterwards and found out that house calls for many electricians in the area is a set cost to troubleshoot or free if the problem cannot be fixed during the visit. We were able to get another electrician to come to the house on the same day and get our lights up and running for 1/3 of the quoted price from California Power & Light.

Came on time and finsihed earlier. Good knowledgable and honest folks.  I would recommend them to others and would use them again!

Quick, efficient, knowledgeable, helpful, informative. I had a very old fuse box that needed to be replaced for home improvements. It had at least 5 yellow jacket nests inside. Henry didn't bat an eye did the work contracted, on time and....he and Moises were simply very nice guys to work with. He took the time to mark where the electrical lines when inside the house for future reference. I plan on calling him back very soon to replace a broken fan in our bathroom.

I had 3 CFL kitchen lights converted to LED lights.  Doug did such an outstanding job.  I did a Request for Quote via Yelp, and the experience could not have gone any smoother -- received a reasonable quote from Henry and set up an appointment.  Doug arrived as scheduled; he was knowledgable, friendly, and took about 2 hours to complete the job.  My wife is so happy with our new kitchen lighting.  So long 3-tube 4-pin CFL lights!  Hello easy-to-maintain and brighter LED lights!

Only reason we knew about California Power & Light is that we needed a new Electrical Panel Box as we are upgrading our home with Solar Panels through Future Energy. Our old panel was 100 watts and was the same old panel since the house was built way back then and the same panel when we moved in 3 years ago! Our new Panel is now 200 watts with room to grow.

Doug and Henry are friendly, knowledgeable and takes pride and quality back it up behind their work they do. Carefully making sure that there are no short cuts and that things are done beyond code. These guys take their work very serious and it's very rare to see a company or even a person do things right the first time.

Let me put this way, they arrived promptly at 8AM began the tear down and removed as much stucco to get the new Panel Box in! (my two year old slept thru all the pounding and wall demo I kid you not and was even smiling in her sleep).

By 1:30PM the panel was up and lines and switches were all installed. Henry left to check up on another job, Doug went to finish somethings in the crawl space, SJ Inspector arrived between 1:30-2PM gave the go ahead and was off to another site. 2:30PM PGE arrived to make the final inspection cycled the power to house and I had power by 3:00PM!  

They clean up after each job and it showed! Henry was also quick and friendly to point where some areas were not up to code (previous owner ran some lighting to side of the house and the box was not waterproof and one of the other pointers  was not even related to electrical! it was plumbing!)

Stucco?? Man this guy even has a connection to that as well. Lopez Lath Plaster, CA Lic 228218. Raul dropped by later in the week stucco'd and patch all the open areas and off he went. Doesn't paint match but again we will be painting our house.

They can answer all your questions, give tips on energy saving, and if you are one of those DIY'ers they can advise you on how to do things the right way!

If you want quality, knowledgeable expertise work, care, passion and pride go call these guys! Cause my other projects around our new home will definitely involve them. Which reminds me I need to call them to remove the house side lights and possibly a full replacement that is done correctly and not a cheap DYI'er like the last owner!!!

Did I mention they are Diamond Certified? If you are a homeowner and look at that kind type of stuff then you know the work and the commitment that both companies strive for.

These guys deserve all of their 5-star ratings! They were able to see me quickly, waited patiently while I called a couple other people to make sure their price was competitive (it was), worked quickly to accommodate my schedule, did a great job, and cleaned up after themselves! They were so nice, and it's just so nice to deal with nice people! If I ever have more electrical work I will def call them. (I had a circuit put in for an above the range microwave, some outlets in the kitchen switched to GFI, and a light fixture installed.) Also worth mentioning is that the guy who actually ended up doing the work was not licensed, but working toward his license. He said he had been with CP&L for 3 years and he did a great job so I was fine with that.

I am so happy to have found California Power and Light! I wasted at least two months looking for someone to repair/replace a bathroom fan. I scoured Yelp and decided to submit an online request to California Power and Light. Henry quickly contacted me and we scheduled the work a few days later as it wasn't an emergency. I originally contracted with Henry through Emberwest to install an electrical outlet flush mounted in the fireplace to accept a gas system that requires power. His crew did an excellent job and during that work noticed I had a Zinsco electrical panel. He mentioned concerns regarding Zinsco panels and encouraged me to research it on-line. Sure enough, those panels installed decades ago had fire hazard issues and would be stupid to ignore and take a chance to not remedy the situation.
I decided to have the electrical panel replaced and upgraded to 200 amps.
Henry and Mike did a fantastic job with the replacement and upgrade. They arrived promptly as scheduled and completed the job along with the PG&E inspection, all in the same day. I had power by late afternoon and was back in business. Also kudos to Raul for his excellent stucco repair required after the electrical panel was installed.

These guys are great. Given the building boom in the bay area it's really hard to get electricians to take on smaller jobs these days.  Not California Power & Light. I tried them out for the first time by having them install a few ceiling fans. Scheduling the appointment was super easy, they showed up when they said they would, did the work quickly and charged me a fair price. And when I had a problem with one of the ceiling fans they came back and fixed it - turned out the problem was with the fan itself and not the install yet these guys refused to charge me anything for the return visit. That's how you keep customers!  I'd recommend these guys any day.

Had a circuit go out...which affected  multiple things in my house...called California Power & Light first thing in the morning...they were able to come out within an hour...fixed what was needed in a timely manner...service was good, prompt and I'd use them again.

I have had nothing but great experiences with California Power and Light; both the owner, Henry, and his associate, Doug, are competent, professional, courteous and friendly, and reliable. I have used CP&L on more than a few occasions, but more recently, after attempting to change a switch that I thought would be a quick and easy task to accomplish, I inadvertently caused a total loss of power on a late Friday afternoon, and no matter what I tried, nothing was bringing the power back-up. I called Henry who was on a big job site, as was his associate, Doug, explained the situation, and within an hour Henry was at my home, quickly identified the problem, and correctly installed the switch that I mistakenly thought would be an easy project for me to handle (NOT); and, had my power back up and running within literally minutes after arriving. On a side note, I had previously used CP&L also on an urgent basis, as appliance installers were scheduled to arrive at my home early afternoon, yet only on the morning of the installer's scheduled arrival date, I first discovered that I did not have the correct electrical power outlets for the appliances I had purchased; so, I called CP&L, and they were able to rearrange their appointment schedule for the morning, so that Doug was able to accommodate me before the installer's arrival time later that afternoon.

I needed an electrician to install a couple of 220 outlets in my garage, one to supply power to a large piece of woodworking machinery, the other to provide faster charging for my electric car.  

I found out about California Power & Light through Yelp.  I called them on Monday morning and spoke with Henry.  I described what I needed and he agreed to come out and look at the job on Tuesday morning.  He arrived on time, determined the amperage requirements for the 2 circuits and the types of outlets needed, verified that the existing sub-panel and the breaker at the main panel could accommodate the added loads, recommended where the plugs should be located to yield a clean, simple installation, and we agreed on a price.

Henry left to pick up all the required parts and came back 2 hours later with a helper.  They worked quickly and efficiently.  2 hours later the job was done.

While this was a small job, I am certain that Henry could also handle major residential electrical jobs with equal ease.

I had Henry install an outlet in a soon to be installed fireplace insert for the blower and  he did a great job! Very satisfied. He found a way to get power to the outlet which he installed and was very efficient and reasonable. Both he and Doug are very friendly. I did not have an electrician and now I do.

We met Henry through our contractor when we remodeled our house.  He is a great electrician and was very helpful in explaining confusing things like automatic on/off required by Title 24 (what a pain!) and how 3-way light switches work.  He did quite a number of jobs here, from installing canned lighting (gorgeous and wonderful) re-wiring the house, installing a new circuit box, putting dimmers on almost all my switches (do yourself a favor and have dimmers put in on your lights, you save electricity and it is really pretty at night) installing bathroom vanity lights and a lot more that I can't recall.  We have already called him back to do other stuff and he is always responsive and gets here pronto when we need him.  He has an able assistant in Doug and I could not be happier with their work.  I would give 10 stars if I could.

Had a problem with a breaker that burnt out due to loose wiring, Henry came out within half an hour and identified the problem right away. He got a replacement very quickly and the work was finished in no time at all. Henry worked quickly and was very friendly.

We recently had an A/C unit installed, and per the installer, he suggested we call electrician to check our electrical box, due to the wires and switches did not look right, and fire hazard. My husband and myself called a couple of businesses, and no luck, and none came thru. I called California Power and Light over the weekend with an emergency situation, we had a breaker that was repeatedly tripping and we couldn't figure out why. It was urgent because my wife and I have 18 month old twins and their room just happened to be on this breaker, which meant no night light and no white noise machine for them, which means they had trouble sleeping and so did we! Henry came over personally on a Saturday to troubleshoot the situation, he was upfront on fees and charges and advised us to wait and see if it happened again, no pressure to spend money we didn't need to, no hard sell. He answered the call himself and came when he said he would, he left his card and asked us to call him if it happened again, which it did, the next day. So I texted Henry on a Sunday morning and he said he would have someone out to our house between 1-2 that afternoon. Sure enough, an electrician was here, prompt, courteous, and professional. He replaced two breakers for us and stayed to ensure everything was working. This company is prompt, friendly, local, they know their stuff and their rates are reasonable. I'm sure we'll have electrical needs in the future, we have an older home and it will need upgrades, California Power and Light will be at the top of my list to call. He is knowledgable, professional, on time and he delivers what he promises. We were very pleased with his service and the overall results. I will definitely call him when we are ready to fix the rest of the house!

Henry is awesome!

We talked to 5 electricians, 1 of which was there the same time as Henry. Henry took a picture and said, That's all I need. He left me alone to talk to the other electrician who kept all his notes on his hand and felt it necessary to talk to me for 40 minutes.

This was on a Friday meaning that permit applications were nearing their close time before the weekend.

We got a call back from Henry saying that he has applied for the permit already.

Wait what?!

We haven't even confirmed we're working with him yet but he understood our concern on getting power to the complex asap. His bid was among the lowest and his proactive approach in getting the permit ready is what we needed for our rushed project.

The other contractor couldn't believe the price and said to make sure the box he's buying for us is D squared, which it is.

He's also really friendly and accountable.

Had a GFCI outlet go out on me over the weekend - all the outlets on that circuit were out, along with the clothes dryer. When I pressed the Testbutton, the Reset button wouldn't pop out. I tried resetting the circuit breakers numerous times to no avail. I called California Power & Light this morning and left a message - I got a call back before 8:30am informing me of the initial service call charge and they scheduled Doug to come out between 9 and 10am - fast service! I even got a call later letting me know that he was running a few minutes late. When he arrived, he told me again about the service call charge, did some checking, figured out the issue and gave me an estimate. He told me what caused the problem and showed me the evidence and then quickly switched out the outlet. I checked the other outlets that were on the same circuit and confirmed everything was working.
After Doug had already left, I realized the clothes dryer was still not working so I called him back. He came back and did some more troubleshooting and found that there was an issue with the outlet for the dryer. He did get the dryer working but said the underlying issue was still there and suggested setting up another appointment to address it (as he was booked for the rest of the day). Henry called me later to book a time and asked several questions to make sure that the service and work done for the initial call were satisfactory (they were), then asked me about the dryer. After discussing the issue with him, we agreed to wait until the dryer acts up again before proceeding with any additional work. And even though it was an oversight on my part not to ask Doug about the dryer on his first visit, I didn't get charged for the second visit and troubleshooting.
These guys are very conscientious, professional and reasonably priced (more than reasonably, in my case). I would not hesitate to call them again for any electrical issue I have in the future.

When we decided to upgrade our electric service panel from 100 amps to 200 amps, we started our search for an electrical contractor on the Diamond Certified website.
After contacting some of the listed contractors and acquiring written estimates for the work needed, we decided on California Power and Light. It was clearly the correct decision for us.
Henry and his associate, Doug, did the requested work and we could not be happier! Every aspect of the project was done perfectly and to our complete satisfaction!
Henry and Doug were on time, the work was done to perfection, the work was neat, clean and completed on time and to specifications.  I cannot stress enough what a complete pleasure it was working with these gentlemen. I always worry when hiring someone to work on our residence. I hate surprises. With California Power and Light, all the work was done EXACTLY as discussed.

Henry is awesome! We had him re wire our house.  He installed ceiling lights outlets in the kitchen and a new electrical panel.  The ceiling lights were awesome because at the time we weren't going to install ceiling fans but later on we decided to.  Henry thought ahead and installed the correct mounts so we could do the fan ourselves.  He is very nice and very knowledgeable.  Highly recommend him!!

Henry and Doug installed a 240v socket for me for my electric car charger in one hour. They always answer the phone when you call. Best of all, honest and very respectful of my house even though it was the garage and took care to clean up after themselves. I had also asked about another problem I was having but Henry problem solved for me rather than fixing something that didn't need to be fixed. Will definitely be calling them for any electric needs.

I had my electric panel replaced due to being overloaded and no room for expansion. Henry installed a new panel for me and added 4 new circuits to offload an overloaded breaker. I was so happy with his work, I had him install can lights in my bedroom and kitchen.  He always left my house clean safe. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again.

Henry did a great job with some electrical work we needed in the course of remodeling our kitchen.  His bid was fair for the work that he did, and when he was onsite, he was professional, courteous, took the time to explain what he was doing, appeared to have done a good job, and cleaned up before departing.  I definitely recommend Henry and will be using CP&L again.

California Power & Light completed technically difficult electrical upgrade on our triplex on time and for a very reasonable price and in a very professional manner.  We will definitely be going back to California Power & Light for all of our electrical needs.  Henry, the owner, and Doug, his electrician, replaced a 200A main panel with a 400A main 4-meter socket panel; replaced two subpanels, grounded numerous outlets, installed GFCI outlets, installed bathroom fans (except venting), and installed electrical circuits for future installation of a whole house fan, and more.  All work passed City Building inspection without any problems, and the main panel upgrade required coordination with PG&E to disconnect and then reconnect the power to the triplex.  We knew that this work required only experienced and knowledgeable electricians, so we contacted only licensed and fully insured contractors to give us quotes.  Of the companies capable of doing this work, California Power & Light was the most reasonable.  Henry, the owner, was also very responsive to our calls, and both Henry and Doug were very helpful and nice.  The work was performed on time and in a very professional manner.  Since we had residents living in the triplex, we wanted to be sure that the residents were not without power over night when PG&E did the required disconnect of power before the main panel was installed.  Henry and Doug managed to do all the main panel work, get the City inspection and approval, and PG&E back to reconnect the power within one day - this is absolutely phenomenal work.  Also, we appreciated Henry's attention to safety.  He took extra steps that were not required but that added to the safety of the electrical installation.  He is a perfectionist in his work - something that we very much appreciate.
