After a very scary experience recently with an outlet that had been wired incorrectly, I wanted to have my entire electrical system inspected. I've lived in my home for almost 20 years and in retrospect, wish I had this done years ago. WireCraft Electric was highly recommended to me by my excellent contractor.

During the inspection, Jonathan found several issues, including aged/worn regular and GFCI outlets, another incorrectly wired outlet, and outlets to my washer and microwave that should have been GFCI.

In my garage, he was extremely concerned that I had inadvertently created a very dangerous situation by storing a metal wind chime right next to an open electrical panel. The panel's cover was removed (it doesn't fit securely). He explained that metal wind chime could have triggered a fire/explosion through arching between it and the panel. That discovery by itself was worth everything to me.

He also installed several LED overhead fixtures in my storage/office, replacing old fluorescent tubes and ballasts.

And he cleaned a wall heater that had collected years of dust that released a flurry of sparks when he was here (fortunate timing). The heater is now good as new again.

Jonathan and apprentice Ben worked here all day, and the price was very reasonable for everything they accomplished. Truly exceptional work. I didn't realize that up until now, I had actually never felt fully confident of the electrical systems in my home. I do now. Thank you WireCraft!

I'm so grateful for Wirecraft.  We had a terrible experience with another company and ended up hiring Wirecraft to finish the job (an upgraded panel).  They where extremely responsive and helpful to make our home safe and functional.  Rich was professional and helpful with our complicated situation on the phone and Seth was so kind and detailed when doing the work.  I'm relieved to have a go-to company for any future electrical needs and highly recommend them.

An electrician came by this afternoon to diagnose an electrical problem we have with our driveway lights. He was unable to solve the problem and in addition screed up my garage door opener that now doesn't work and I have to operate it manually. When I called in and described the problem they said there was nothing they can do. They charged me over $400.00 and couldn't solve the problem and left me in an unworkable situation. On a scale from 1-5 I give them minus zero. At the very least they should have fixed the problem they caused.

TL;DR: Hired Wire Craft Electric for various electrical work, Josh and co. were super friendly and professional, completed all work items and gave excellent explanations for their work and recommendations. Only con I have for Wire Craft is their office scheduler who is forgetful.

---

I don't remember the name of who was working the phones, but they failed to call me back at first after they said they would call me back, After I called back a week later they were apologetic and set me up with a time for their crew to come out.

That day and time came with nothing, called them up and they informed me they didn't have me on their schedule. I was ready to walk away from these guys but they ended up having Josh come out later that day.

I talked to Josh about running a new circuits & breakers, installing a strike and repairing the wires where they connect to our utility box, and completing a safety inspection for questionable work the previous owners did.

Josh and his partner were very friendly, professional, and gave me detailed explanations on my requested work and recommended items. All work completed quickly and efficiently.

If I ever have any need for an electrician I will gladly use WCE again.

Adam came out and did some work for us on the outlets, the light fixtures, the electric heat and I don't even remember what else. The house is old and the previous owners are idiots so we had many lingering problems that I quickly lost patience with.

But these guys cam out and gave us a good overview, naturally finding a bunch of other problems I didn't know about. So in that sense, it wasn't great 'cuz the work ended up being like $3000, but I am sure it all needed to be done. To that point, the heat works, the lights don't flicker and the dead outlets have been replaced by GCFI or whatever it's called.
They were really helpful, friendly, and honestly, I felt they went above and beyond, fixing some little extras and giving feed back about the garage door etc.

I would highly recommend this business for your electrical needs.

Jonathon arrived right on time for our first go-over of the project, and a few minutes early for the actual work!  It was a complex job in an old house, which meant a lot of complications, but he was unfailingly helpful, informative and cheerful.  The work was done carefully and well, in good time, and neatly - good clean-up.  I'd have Jonathon back any time, and enjoyed having such a great guy in the house!

We had WireCraft out to the house after a small electrical fire started in one of our outlets. They responded to our phone call quickly and had someone come out the very next day. Josh was professional and courteous, gave us a quote for the repair of that outlet, a few other minor electrical issues that we'd asked him to check on, and the installation of a whole-house surge arrestor that we needed for an upcoming installation of our new heating system.

Josh informed us that he'd have to cut the drywall to fix the box that had the fire as well as to install the surge arrestor. We expected that. What we did not expect was for him to leave a significant gap between the surge arrestor and the wall, and for the surge arrestor to not even be flush against the wall. We have a gap in our wall now that could easily allow large bugs to get through that leaves the studs open to the room.

When we emailed WireCraft to see if they were going to fix this hole, they informed us that they'd told us they had to cut into the drywall. They didn't offer to fix the issue and had the general attitude that it wasn't their problem.

In contrast, the company who installed our heating system had to do the same thing (cut into the drywall). In one instance, they had to cut into lath and plaster, and the plaster cracked, leaving a large chunk (approximately 2x5 inches) broken and open to the ceiling. The installers from that company patched the hole with drywall tape. We still have to paint over it, but it's not a hole that's open to the innards of our house.

The actual electrical portion of the work was excellent, and Josh cleaned up after himself, was very careful around our cats and the items in our home, and was very courteous, but be aware that if you need work done that cuts into the drywall, you'll have to end up patching the drywall yourself.

For a kitchen remodel we were looking for a breaker panel relocation from an interior wall to an exterior wall about 20 feet away.

Josh (owner electrician) Rich (sale guy) came out the house.

They were super professional and personable they spent over an hour at the house going over everything we wanted done.

they committed to a quote by the end of the next day, and delivered. That's when it started to get less warm and fuzzy.

I have been involved in several home projects including panel replacements so I am not completely clueless.

using previous experience from jobs, We put the cost at some place in the $6500.00 to $8500.00 range.

Rich came back with a quote defining a scope of work and price tag, in a single line item, of $11,562.00 plus tax.

I was a bit astonished at this amount. Figuring parts would be in the $2500 - $3000.00 that would make labor some place in the $8500.00 range for a 3 day job.

Because the quote did not give a separate parts price and cost of labor. I politely asked if they could provide line items for parts and for labor.

Rich replied with comments like: (cut and pasted from original mail)

I don't feel we have to justify our pricing structure

To put together a quote such as this, we don't itemize each part and each strand of wire

and other statements about how ethical they are like You will be working with a company with integrity that stands behind their work like no other company that I have ever been associated with.

Also then he stated there would likely be more work on a 4th day to tune the new arc fault breakers but we would not be charged for that.

With that he offered to drop the price, after removing the generator panel we asked for, to and even $10,000 + tax. I  clearly was not impressed.

I was not asking for a better price I just wanted better understanding of what I would be paying for.

We opted not go this direction, even before we received 3 other quotes with the same scope of work for just less than $4,000

I am sure Wire Craft would have done a stellar job I just could not justify working with Rich and his response. The quote of about 3x more than what it actually cost was a factor too.

Adam did a great job installing a lighting fixture at our daughter's home. They aren't necessarily the least expensive option out there, but the quality of the work and professionalism of the electricians make them a great option.

The gentlemen out were courteous, prompt, and professional.  If you are looking for high quality work--be ready to pay for it.  The job took about 6 hours ( maybe 5.5 hours as they took a lunch break).  I paid with tax $1331.32.  This price put the job at roughly $200.00/hour which in my opinion is too much.  I would hire them again though.

I retained Wirecraft based on a standard predetermined estimate for swapping out a two baseboard heaters and accompanying digital thermostats.  That predetermined price for each was approximately $650/per baseboard and digital thermostat replacement.  The new baseboard heaters and thermostats appear to be on the lower end of quality from my observation and likely cost less than $200 altogether.  So under their pricing model, the labor for each was fixed at $550 or $1100 total.

I am not an electrician, so when six hours of time was set aside for the project, I assumed that was reasonable for the job to be done.  And I also assumed a much higher cost for the replacement heaters and thermostats.  I had originally asked to have a couple of light switches replaced, too, but decided against it when I saw the fixed cost for those.  In 2.5 hours, the job was complete.  In other words, I was charged $440 per hour for the service provided.  Few lawyers and doctors in Seattle make that much money.

With all of this said, I foolishly agreed to the price upfront based on my naive belief that it was a big job meriting those huge dollars.  This is how small companies like Wirecraft dupe consumers--by making them think something is more complex or labor intensive than it is--and using these kinds of fixed price models.  Buyer beware, and don't be taken for $440/hour like I was.  In my opinion, Wirecraft's fixed pricing model lacks integrity, and consumers should question those peddling such models.  I will not use Wirecraft again or refer them to anyone, and I recommend readers do the same.

Having been a victim of the surprise $350 safety inspection charge (like another reviewer) when I only asked for estimates for work, I should have been smarter than to trust this company.

Very satisfied with Sean.  He arrived on time and was very professional.  I especially liked that you know exactly what the cost will be for every item that needs to be done.  He explained everything to my satisfaction and completed the job in a timely manner.  I would definitely hire this company again. To those that think their prices are too high, I only have this comment, out of three electricians I have hired in the last two years we have lived here, they were the most professional.

I had another electrician fail to complete a job and needed a day of work done.  I am sure Josh didn't have time, but he fit me in anyway.  He was great.  Showed up on time gave me an estimate and got to work.  Thanks Josh.  Always great to have someone you can trust in a pinch.

Got connected with Josh at Wirecraft quite by accident. They were a sub for a contractor doing work for me. Since I needed outlets installed, I called Josh prior to his showing up as a sub.

I asked if he could kill two bird with one stone by doing the sub work and my outlets. He said no problem and that's just what it was - no problem. In and done in the time promised and at the price quoted.

Courteous to my team, new outlets and cleaned up afterwards. Need an electrician? Get a bid from Wirecraft. They do good work.

Wirecraft Electric recently came in and took care of a number of electrical issues that were bugging us - from an out-of-date light fixture to trouble-shooting a malfunctioning smoke alarm to fixing some outlets.  They listened carefully to what we needed, efficiently got the work done, cleaned up after themselves, and were courteous and unobtrusive.  We bought an LED fixture (at Home Depot) that lasts for 32 years with no light bulb changes needed, and our room is now well lit and has lost that 'out-of-date' look!  They clearly know their business and everything they did is working well.  What more could you ask for?

I called Wire Craft just over a week ago to see if they could do some work at my house.  The women that answered the phone was friendly enough. I explained the problem that I had and she listened. She then said she would have an electrician call me back to see if they could do the work.  I have never gotten a phone call back. Not good business practice in my mind.
