Dependable Electric LLC was formed in 2012 by Paul Spinosa, who has completed numerous projects to include whole house wiring and removal of existing knob and tube, small remodel projects, circuit additions (both commercial and residential), and repairs to existing electrical systems. My name is Paul Spinosa; I own Dependable Electric. I began working in the electrical industry in 2001 and became a licensed residential journeyman in 2004. After completing a four year apprenticeship, while working in the trade, I became a licensed commercial journeyman in 2010. In 2012 I earned my administrator's license and have since opened Dependable Electric LLC.
I have worked on numerous projects ranging in size from small residential service calls to large multistory commercial buildings. I enjoy electrical work; finding solutions and fixing electrical problems gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment. I truly believe in honesty, integrity, and thoroughness. I had some dead outlets. I gave up trying to fix it myself. Called Paul and he came out sooner then expected. Paul and his assistant John were able to find the problem which was a very difficult, complex task.

Absolutely phenomenal. We wanted an outlet installed behind our wall-mounted TV to hide the cord, and after struggling to get someone to commit to come out we reached out to Dependable Electric. Paul answered my first call while on another job and promised to get back to me later that day, which he did! Not only that, he was able to come out the following day(!) and get the job done, in about half the time he originally estimated, saving us a lot of money and time. Everything about him and his team was incredible:
* Super fast response
* Explained everything he was planning to do
* Was able to come the NEXT DAY (it was originally tentative based on whether he could make it out that day, but he made it happen)
* Better solution than another electrician who wanted to cut up our drywall -- Paul's solution required no clean-up
* Worked very quickly and efficiently
* Had his work virtually inspected by the power company on the spot
* Way less $$ than originally estimated (because he and his team were quick)
It's like he snapped his fingers, one minute we had an ugly cord on the wall, the next we're looking at a clean, safely hidden cord with a new outlet. It took me an entire day to process how smoothly that happened. Everyone else we've tried takes forever to get back to us and get on a schedule that's weeks out. We are so grateful for Paul and Tim and team and can't recommend them enough!
We had a great experience with Paul and his team. They are very knowledgeable, professional, and thorough. Our home isn't that old, but it was built quickly, and we had some loose connections that Paul was able to identify and fix easily. Will definitely remember them for any future electrical needs.
We hired Dependable Electric to remove knob and tube wiring, check the quality of the existing modern wiring, install several new outlets, and to fix any general electrical issues that they found in the process. We hired Dependable Electric to fix a bathroom light switch that wasn't working. We got an appointment a few days after we called. Paul and his apprentice, John, called 45 minutes before they arrived. They fixed the light switch and also replaced the fan switch while they were at our house. I appreciated all their attention to detail including wearing shoe covers when they were in our house. They did a thorough and accurate job at a reasonable price. We will recommend Paul and Dependable Electric to our friends and neighbors and we would definitely hire him again for any future electrical needs.

I contacted Paul to come see to some wiring issues in our home. Even though he has an extremely busy schedule, I was placed on a wait list and then contacted just a day or two later when some time opened up. Paul was able to come out and not only assess our issue, but spot a few other things that needed to be addressed. Super thankful for such quality work and professionalism from start to finish. Paul was very responsive in scheduling and explaining the job. We called for a quote to install a connection for our emergency generator. He was friendly and knowledgeable and gave us a couple of options.
Frank did the work - what a great guy. Very friendly and professional.
We'll definitely call them again in the future.
And they are very fairly priced.
Paul is a real professional. I had him come to my home to review the work that needed to be done as he gave me a reasonable quote. When it came time to do the work he did a great job and did so in a timely fashion. I recommend him highly.
Paul took my call at 4:45pm. Explained my electrical panel issue and he told me he was booked up but would put me on a wait list and try to get me in asap.
Paul asked me to further explain my situation along with panel brand and took time to walk me through possible issue and simple fixes. He saved me hundreds of dollars where i couldn't get anyone else to even return my call.

From the moment I contacted Dependable Electric I knew I had found the right company to rewire two outlets in a bathroom of our house built in the 1950s. Paul was responsive on the phone and quoted me a cost for coming to troubleshoot. Frank and Tim showed up right on time, were personable and professional, listened well to our telling of the problem, then got down to work. My husband briefly checked in on them twice during two hours they were here and appreciated their expertise.

They installed lighting in my master bedroom but also worked on my existing lighting installed by an incompetent (so called) electrician. I had a puzzling issue with outlets not working in one room. I did a search for electricians near me and Dependable Electric came up. I contacted them on a Sunday via email to describe my situation and ask about availability. The owner, Paul, actually called me back on that Sunday. He asked about the issue and troubleshooted with me over the phone. He was booked out but told me he'd contact me on Monday (which he did) to see if we could find a window of time that could work for him to stop by. He figured out the issue very quickly (within ten minutes) fixed it and was on his way within an hour. He isn't cheap, but he also didn't need to spend several hours diagnosing the problem. I appreciate that he was responsive, professional, knowledgeable, down to earth, and fixed the issue. Thank you!

Paul installed two new circuit breakers in our house for our home gym and he did an amazing job.
One of things I appreciated was that Paul gave us a detailed quote, explaining all the costs associated with his work and even gave us a window frame of how long the work would take him to complete.
Paul is also a great communicator, with explaining what he's doing when he's doing it and asked us crucial questions, before proceeding with the work.
Another thing I liked was how he labeled the new outlets, so we know which plug belongs to which circuit breaker. Also when he was done it looked like he wasn't there, no mess, just two new outlets with labels.
Last but not least, Tacoma Power came to inspect his installation which Paul told us is required, Paul even gave us a form explaining that with other detailed information. So when the electrician from Tacoma Power came over to our house, the electrician took no more than 5 minutes to look over Paul's work and said everything was great. I asked the electrician if he needed to know who did the work, and he said he already knows that it was done by Paul based on the work. The electrician also stated that Paul does high quality work, and is one of the best electricians he knows.

I hired Paul and his crew to correct a few electrical issues and install new outlets in our circa 1952 attached garage. From my first contact with Paul, I was blown away by his professionalism, skill, and courtesy. He clearly communicated all issues of the job, he asked the important questions, and kept me informed at every step along the way. Paul discovered several risky problems with my older home (live knob and tube wiring, live electrical wires that had previously been nailed through). He correct these giving me peace of mind and possibly averting disaster down the road. Paul also cleaned up some wiring recently installed by Vets Electric from a separate project. When my drywall contractor damaged some circuits after the rough-in, Paul made sure a member of his team came out as soon as possible to get my power supply up and running safely again!! Paul is one of the good guys. He's nice, friendly, and fair. I will have him return to our home for all our electrical needs! I highly recommend Paul and his team at Dependable Electric!!

I haven't had Paul out yet, but I wanted to tell the good people of Yelp about my experience with calling around and looking for an electrician. I had a few projects lined up (mostly adding outlets to places outlets did not previously exist) that I was looking for quotes for, and a bathroom fan that made a horrible WHRRK noise then stopped. Since that bathroom fan was the only source of ventilation in my bathroom (in the dead of December, when the showers are hot and the steam is billowing), I needed a new fan ASAP.
After playing a bit of Yelp messenger tag, Paul called me and after explaining everything involved in the work I wanted done (to be honest a lot of it went over my head) he also told me to try troubleshooting my bathroom fan myself (he was nicer than that, but that was definitely the sentiment). Turns out all I needed was to haul myself up to Home Depot, find the same motor and slide it in. Saved myself several hundred dollars and a possibly mildew-y bathroom.
Paul's got a long wait time (I want to say he was about 1-2 months out when I spoke to him), and he isn't cheap (the good ones never are) but I'm willing to save up and wait because I want the job done right (especially where wires and electricity are concerned). I can see on the other reviews I'm not the only one impressed with his honesty and integrity, and I'm looking forward to getting him out so I can finally have an outlet behind my TV (instead of cords belching out all over and hanging down the wall)
Just as the reviews say, Paul is great.
Just spoke to Paul and he was very friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help me. He answered while on the job and didn't blow me off. I will definitely be using Dependable for all electrician needs!

Paul is very organized, knowledgeable and honest. He returned our calls and Yelp e mail promptly to set up an appt. He was on time and professional.
We were having light fixtures from a previous residence put up in our new home. He was quick to do some minor adjustments and both are up looking beautiful (I forgot that they came from a house that had 12' ceilings and our current house has 10' ceilings).
Paul was mindful to protect your personal while working and we look forward to having him come back to hang three ceiling fans when we purchase them.
Not only did he do a great job, but he gave us insight on what to look for if we wanted to purchase dimmers, and ceiling fans with remotes.

I called Dependable Electric on a Friday afternoon while we were renovating a room. The baseboard heater hadn't been working for some time, and purchasing a new one didn't fix it. I described the problem over the phone to Paul and he said he could be out on Monday. When Monday came, Paul called early to let us know he was available sooner than expected and would it be okay to come over. He was so courteous! I'm used to companies usually being late, so him coming early and checking with us was a wonderful surprise!
When he arrived, he went over all the necessary paperwork and expectations - Paul was very clear and helpful. He inspected the issue and found a solution for us in the first hour, and saved us from some poor work done by a previous owner. I really appreciated that he kept us updated as he worked, telling us what may be the problem, what it definitely wasn't, and letting us know about the upkeep of our house's wiring. Never once did he feel pushy or like he was talking down to us. I would definitely go to Paul in the future for another project!
Paul is an amazing electrician--we had him over a couple of times to look at electrical issues in our 100+ year old house. He did excellent work, cleaned up after he was finished, and kept us in constant communication about the issues he was seeing throughout the house. He also recommended that we get city permits and inspections on all of his work and warned us to be wary of electricians who told us not to. The inspector we had out praised his excellent work.
Our house has a lot of old wiring--some of it knob and tube, some of the fixtures don't properly match the wiring. He diagnosed the problems he found and made the fixes he could. Ultimately, he suggested that we rewire the whole house, since it has some significant issues and the wiring has been done in different patches over the decades. Then, he recommended that we look for a different electrician for the rewire--one that has a crew and would be able to complete the whole process more quickly and more inexpensively than just one person. We've had several different electricians come in to provide us with bids for the rewiring, and even they have mentioned the excellent work he did for us.
If you have any electrical work that needs done, we HIGHLY recommend Paul. He is honest, communicative, very knowledgeable, and hard working. We look forward to working with Paul for any future electrical needs that come up--and don't require a whole crew! THANK YOU, Paul, for your beyond excellent work!
Above and beyond, and straight shooters. These guys stepped into a messy situation- my house was a foreclosure and had some sloppy and creative work by the previous owner, outlets and switches abandoned and buried, one outlet shorted out... they evaluated the risks, made recommendations, gave me options, cleaned up and tightened up everything, made two bathroom ceiling fans fit, and all with safety first. Good electrical work isn't cheap for a reason- and I am happy with every penny spent with this crew.

I never had the opportunity to actually hire Paul. I called after I had a partial outage looking for quick solutions. While Paul suggested he was booked for 1.5 months, he gave me a few times where he could show up to checks things out. He talked to me for a good 10 minutes about the problem, essentially diagnosing it on the phone. This gave me the guts and clue to investigate. I end up fixing the bad outlet (did I mention I'm an idiot?), and fixed the outages! Thanks for the troubleshoot.
Paul was so awesome! Made sure to keep me in the loop about when he was going to arrive, was early, and then figured out my problem in less than an hour. I would definitely recommend.

I called Paul first thing on a Monday morning to see about upgrading a dryer outlet that I thought wasn't going to work for our new one. He fit me in for an estimate (with no promise of being able to do the work today, which made sense). When he came over and we moved the dryer it turns out we were ok.
Paul took the time to answer some questions, go through a few things and even double checked some lighting work my husband had botched....errrr....did his best at.
Paul could have easily tried to charge us for a bunch of stuff or been ride and angry for the unnecessary work stop. He actually got a few calls while he was here, so I could tell he is very busy. He was absolutely professional and a stand up guy. I'd trust him to do work in the future and will definitely be recommending him.
Paul and Tim did a fantastic job with the electrical job I hired them for at my house in Tacoma. They communicated well, were knowledgeable and thorough. I plan to utilize them for future jobs.
I can't overstate how impressed I am with Paul (owner) and his work. I have elderly parents who needed 2 kitchen ballasts replaced. All contractors that I contacted were booked and couldn't do it. Paul made an effort to squeeze them in and showed up the next day. He was there when he said he would be, was great to work with, and did a great job. And the best thing is he made my parents very happy. Oh..and he was reasonably priced. A big double thumbs up!
My husband interacted with the electrician. He was impressed with their work and knowledge. He said he took the time to show and explain to him the cause of the electrical problem. The cost appears to be reasonable (can't say for sure because only have two others to compare with and one was asking for more and one came with a free consultation). Dependable charged for consultation. However, he did the work and was neat. Plus, he provided the outlet covers. He also guarantees he work. My husband liked him!

I had a longstanding and very frustrating issue with the GFCI in my garage tripping, despite multiple attempts at troubleshooting shooting the issue on my own for months-it continued to happen. I called Dependable Electric LLC, and talked to Paul (the owner). He was amazing over the telephone helping me try and diagnose the problem. I was very lucky to be able to fit in-between appointments that he had the next day. He was able to diagnose several reasons why my GFCI was faulting, fix them, as well as optimize my electrical system so that I would not run into the same hair pulling problems in the future. He was professional, courteous, EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and at a very fair price. It is so hard to find a good & trustworthy electrician, and I'm happy to have found him. Paul really knows his stuff, and I wish more businesses were like his...it would make home ownership so much easier having guys like him when we encounter a problem beyond the DIY/YouTube phase. I have used different electricians in the area before and usually it is difficult to get them to come out right away, or get ideas about estimated cost. Paul actually answered my call himself and he was at our house in Federal Way in 1 hour after the call on the same day, got the job done quickly within 1 hour. I liked the fact that he was very upfront with me about his rates on the phone before coming out. Thank you Paul for the job well done.
Paul is fantastic. I had him come out to do some work in my 100 year old house and I could not be more impressed. He's incredibly knowledgeable, kind, professional, and fast. I have a toddler and a couple dogs and he made sure to keep the gates shut behind him whenever he went up/down stairs or outside. When the city inspector showed up the following week, the first thing she told me was that he is hands down the best electrician in Tacoma.

Great guy. Explained what needed to be done clearly and did the work needed a lot faster than I thought it would be. He even took the time to take a look at something else I would like to have done so I could get an estimate. I would definitely call again the next time I have electrical problems.
I have worked with numerous contractors over the years in both my professional career and with the homes I have owned. Paul Spinosa is one of the best and most honest contractors I have ever worked with. He gave us a bid for adding security cameras and lightning to the outside of our house. At the end, he actually came in under his original bid. When he showed up, he worked through the day and even worked through his lunch hour. He walked me through exactly what he was doing and gave his suggestions. But ultimately he left it up to me to make the final decisions. He followed code and made sure that we would pass inspection. He takes pride in his work and it shows. Each day, he swept up the scraps left behind from his work and left a clean work site. There is no doubt that I will use his services for all of my families electrical needs.

After moving to Washington from another state, we called Paul to add some outlets inside our house and add some circuits to complete an unfinished basement. When you're new in town, you never know what you're going to get when you hire someone. Paul did a great job, worked neat and clean, and is also a very nice guy and easy to work with. I called to ask some probing questions about GU24 recessed light receptacles and installing pendant lamps in their place, he was very nice and helpful and offered many suggestions and even had me go to my electric panel to answer some questions for him to better help me. He gave me some estimates, offered some alternatives, and even said to get a few more estimates. Will definitely star this company in my book for the future.
I've used Paul at Dependable Electric twice now. He has become my go-to guy for any home electrical issue. Luckily for me, both times turned out to be fairly simple fixes, but still beyond my skill level. Not only did he fix them, but he also educated me, which I appreciate.
Compared to others that I've used in the past, his prices are more than reasonable.
I'm planning a major upgrade in the future, and Paul will be the first person I call.

Paul is a good dude that was really willing to help and answer questions to figure out what we needed to fix our circuit breaker problem and made time in his schedule to fix it the next day. Awesome.
I set up an appt for an estimate at my rental. Paul showed up 20 mins early to my tenant's door. She asked him to wait until I arrived so he did go to his truck and wait. Due to a road being blocked off and having to take a detour I was 15 mins late. Paul came back at the actual appt time and was very pushy with my tenant and refused to wait until I was there. Luckily he was still there when I arrived. He didn't explain much to me since he already explained things to my tenant. He gave me some prices and we parted ways. Later he called me and told me a lower price and also told me he's not that hard up for work because he stays busy.

I needed a new circuit, some outlets, and a florescent ceiling light installed in my garage. I received estimates from several electricians; however, Paul was by far the most professional. He was the only one who didn't try to give me an estimate over the phone; he actually came over and talked me though what he would do if I contracted with him. I was impressed by his professionalism, appearance, and the care he took to explain exactly what needed to be done. I would defiantly contract with him again in the future.

I highly recommend Dependable Electric to anyone looking for great service and a very knowledgable individual in Paul. We had an electrical issue in our upstairs bathroom, none of our lights nor ceiling fan would work. I looked up some companies on Yelp as the first one we called was not able to have anyone take a look until June! Paul answered right away and I described the problem to him and he was familiar with what we could be dealing with. He said that he would try to fit me in today but was not completely sure. I said that it was not urgent and if he could fit me in that would be great. I got a call from him a couple hours later telling me that he could be over in 30 minutes! Amazing. He quickly diagnosed the issue and less than an hour later, we were back in business. He has great attention to detail and kept me informed on everything he was doing. Couldn't be happier! Who likes emergency electrical issues -- NOT ME! Paul answered my questions on the phone and walked me through what I should expect. He was scheduled for the next few days, but then he had a cancellation and came out the day after my original call (which was after 4pm). Paul was very nice and found and fixed the problem. The cost was less than I had feared and less than his original estimate. My husband and I are going to use him again when we do some remodeling. Great work.
again Paul made a potentially anxious electrician service so ez and relaxed from start to finish! we needed a chandelier hung and when we called him he was booked out forever duh but fit us in at the butcrack early of morn prolly before his regular work day was going to start ( remembering that we were previous clients) and installed it ez pz no drama in less then an hour which kept the cost very competitive and went on his way. we love that he tells us only what we need to know and other then that he just works away not eating up valuable time. his professionalism and friendly service is just cake! thanks Paul!
