Patterson Paving Concrete Contractor
We hired Patterson Paving to do an asphalt overlay of our driveway and cut/haul away some existing driveway.  We met with Sean for the bid and he was very professional and understood our concept.  He provided a drawing of the new driveway and a fair bid/proposal.  Patterson was also very flexible as far as timing.  They did the demo and we did landscaping, then, they came back for the overlay on our schedule.  The overlay looked nice, but they left a huge mess after the job.  I know asphalt is a messy business, but they could have done a better clean-up job.  There were puddles of oil, chunks of asphalt in the desert, asphalt on our garage door and siding, brown sludge on the road, and most of all black tar tire tracks going everywhere at the end of our driveway.  I told Sean and he had his guys come back the next day to clean the concrete at the end of our driveway.  It was a slight improvement, but my husband and I spent hours further cleaning up the tar on our house and at the end of the driveway.  I would have rated them higher if they had cleaned up better or prevented the mess in the first place.  They may be more used to doing parking lots than residential homes.

All Terrain Landscaping Concrete Contractor
We used Alll Terrain Landscape to do a major backyard project... We removed all of our lime stone and replaced it with travertine. We are on a half an acre and we did our patio, all of our walkways, all around our pool, a border around the grass area, as well as a picnic area.  It was a huge project... Cost over $30,000. Initially the project went well.  The best thing I can say about the project was the designer... She was super easy to work with, she listened, she checked into the project to make sure it was going smoothly.  However, during the process, before we ever even started the project, we were very clear with them that we had two issues that we needed them to work with us on. First, we do Animal Rescue so at the time we had eight dogs so we needed to make sure that we had access to the backyard for as long as possible so they could go outside to go to the bathroom. We also we're going out of town the weekend after the project started. We made it very clear that the dogs needed to have access to the backyard which meant that they needed at least a small part of the back patio so they could go out the dog door and we would fence off the rest of the area. It came to the time when we were going out of town and right before we left, they laid the travertine right up to the back door but it had not been grouted and could not be walked on.  We called to express our frustration that we could not have been any more clear that we needed to have access to the patio for the dogs to get outside when we went out of town that weekend. They seemed completely unconcerned. The next issue was that on a Friday afternoon, they left all of their trash all over our front yard, left for the day, and were not planning on being back until the following Tuesday as that Monday was a holiday. I'm not talking construction materials... I'm talking about actual trash all over our front yard. I called them from the airport just before I was getting on the plane very upset about this telling them that they could not leave that mess all over our front yard, we have neighbors and we live in an HOA.  Our project manager Adam refused to call me back and instead called my husband because Adam felt that I was too upset. Talk about sexist and disrespectful!

That was in February. The project ended and we pointed out multiple areas where they they left their pencil marks that they used to mark cuts in multiple places all over the tile. We were told that was normal and the sun would just bleach that out... What?!?!  You don't lay tile that has pencil marks all over it and if you do then you need to remove the pencil marks. The next issue was multiple large areas that they did not grout. They sent someone out to re-grout but still we had major areas that weren't grouted. They sent someone else out to re-grout again but still we have many areas without grout.

They also spilled so much construction material into our pool.  We had large piles of mortar that turned into cement all over the sides and bottom of our pool.  I told Adam about this and he said our pool guy would just be able to brush this down.  Nope, it was like cement.  Our pool guy tried several times but couldn't get it off.  So, I waited until the pool warmed up enough for me to actually get in the pool and again, this stuff was like cement, it could not be removed.  I stopped calling Adam about this issue because he repeatedly blew me off and went directly to a supervisor at the office who finally sent someone out to clean it up.  We had to drain our entire pool in order to get all this stuff off the bottom of the pool.  So frustrating!

Fast forward to now... Six months later and we still have many, many areas that have no grout. We have multiple areas that have grass and weeds that grow up through the tile because there should be polymer grout in the seams to prevent this from happening. We have cracked tiles. They made a cover for our pool basket but the cover sits up so high above the actual lid that covers the hole where the skimmer basket is that a child stepped on it and it broke in half from the weight.

I called them on Monday to address these issues and I was told someone would come out on Thursday. It got to be mid day on Thursday and I didn't hear from anyone so I called the office and was told that they had talked to the project manager who said that they were going to wait until sometime later in October to come out and check these issues because it was too hot. I kid you not... A landscaping company in the Phoenix area said that they would not come out and look at our issues because It's too hot.  It's in the low 100s upper 90s this week and next... What about that is too hot to come out and take a look at these issues?  We paid over $30,000 for this backyard and the customer service has been ridiculous. I would not only not use this company again but I would not recommend them.

G&S Landscaping Concrete Contractor
We absolutely love all the work Jose and the G&S team has done. We have used them 3 times- we first used them to do our yard once we moved into our new home. They installed our turf, pavers, drip lines, outdoor lighting and did all our plants/trees. We had them back out to instal a pergola outback, which turned out beautiful! Jose was just out in October of 2022 to extend our patio and we couldn't be more happy with the work.
Jose is wonderful to work with, honest, easily reachable and fairly priced.
Would highly recommend him!

Gaje Contracting Concrete Contractor
I recently had concrete slab stitching done by Gaje. Owner J R is really pleasant to work with. The crew was on time to start and one time to complete. Workmanship is good. I will come back in a year or so to comment on the longivity of the fix. So far I am happy. I would recommend Gaje to anyone that needs floor stitching.

Midwest Concrete Concrete Contractor
~We decided to fill in the living room of our home.   John (the owner) returned my call within an hour.  I sent him pictures and dimensions of the room and he texted back a price for the job and emailed a written estimate in 30 minutes! Of all the contractors I called, Midwest was the ONLY company to automatically include the placement of rebar to hold the concrete in place.
~All I can say about their work is this: John and his crew was on time, professional, friendly, knowledgable, efficient, clean, timely and meticulous!  Everything consumers hope for!
~ Added note: I didn't know anything about the necessity of rebar or other aspects of filling in sunken rooms but since Midwest did the job, SEVERAL other contractors who have come to our house to bid on other work have told me that Whoever did your concrete did a great job!  and asked for his info. for themselves.
~I got lucky I found a contractor like John views his work/company the old school way.  He cares and will do a great job for you too!!
~Do yourself a favor and choose Midwest Concrete! (Mic drop!)

Bless Tierra Landscaping & Construction Concrete Contractor
Used this landscape contractor twice. First time was a revamp front yard, pull bushes and tree for lower maintenance yard and the job was completed in one day as promised and turned out great.

The second time was recently to assist with proper drainage, replace real turf with artificial turf and the job came out excellent.  The contractor is very ethical, always shows up as promised and follows up on after project is completed. Yes, the day after on both projects. The quality of work meets high standards and would use them again.

Wild West Asphalt Concrete Contractor
I manage a small garden style apartment in Phoenix, and needed asphalt repair and sealing and striping work done after major plumbing repair work that opened up my asphalt.

Ivan and his team did great work cleaning up the open trench, saw cutting where the asphalt was jagged, and doing additional compacting prior to the asphalt repair.

They also came back the following weekend to do the sealing work and striping. I wasn't able to be on-site, but had no problems trusting Ivan to do the job right and with quality.  His price was reasonable and fair. Though I paid more due to the extra asphalt needed, that was due to the plumber's work.

Highly recommend him and Wild West if you have any asphalt work.

Backyard Oasis Superstore Concrete Contractor
This place is a true diamond in the rough! I can't remember the last time we encountered a business that practiced actual ethics! The owner and employees are all very nice, they enjoy their jobs, and are always eager to help. The prices are not bad at all either. We were incredibly impressed by their awnings and the fact to do an install they would not require a deposit. They are very proud of their standards in business practices and it shows!

Arrowhead Deck and Pools Concrete Contractor
I had Arrowhead install a new deck in 2016 for $10,000+. To be fair they did a nice, timely job on the install. Then...
1. The deck you they installed for $10,000+ lasted one summer before it began to crumble in places.
2. The crew that made the warranty repairs the next year didn't attempt to match the original deck color or design and informed me that was the best they could do.
3. The fix didn't last the summer and after putting up with it for a couple of seasons I contacted them to express my displeasure. See attached email.
4. John Trice from Arrowhead and Rusty Gonzales from Preferred Deck Systems and I had a meeting on January 14, of this year to discuss the problem. At that time, Ms. Gonzales rather smugly informed me that the problem was not hers and that, Many homes in the area where the concrete was poured in the '90s have this problem because inferior concrete was used. She also told me that I should use an acid wash because the pH levels in my water is bad. Side note: I was not initially informed of the potential concrete problem nor the acid fix. Also, Mr. Trice had previously informed me in an email that he had, Never had a deck do this, so there seems to be some contradiction in the stories I am being told. I would also wager that new customers aren't being informed of this potential problem even though Ms. Gonzales claims it is a common one.
5. At the conclusion of our January 14, meeting we agreed that Mr. Trice would send me an estimate to address just the problem I currently have, provide another estimate to install a deck that would last even with the 1990s inferior concrete, and finally, Rusty Gonzales was to send me more information as to how best to prepare and use the acid wash.
6. While I have received Arrowhead estimates, I have not heard anything from Rusty Gonzales.

The two estimates I received to remedy the problem were:
* Replace the sections that initially lasted only 8 months for $4,300. This means I'll have to pay an additional $4,300 to install decking around the pool that will not match the patio and - since the same materials will be used as the original - could not be expected to last any longer. I essentially would need to be prepared to pay several thousand dollars every couple of years to maintain a mismatched patio/pool deck that I purchased from a company who originally sold me on the idea that they provided the best quality.
* Install Travertine Pavers for $16,815. This means that I would end up paying over $26,000 for a project that was originally a little over $10,000 and I would be hiring the same company and supplier whose product didn't last 8 months. Also, if the offer only covers the area around the pool I would have a pool/patio area that was mismatched to say the least.

So in conclusion, if you have deep pockets and don't mind paying for deck repairs over and over again that won't match the original you may consider this company. As for me, I'm going find some deck patching goop and do it myself. As the pictures show, my deck can't look any worse.
----------------------------------
Following is a January, 2020 email from Arrowhead owner stating he, Never had a deck do this. This was shortly before our meeting when he and the material supplier suddenly remembered that this was a common problem and the word efflorescence was used for the first time:

I would be happy to take a look at the issue; something is definitely wrong. We have never had a deck do this so I am interested in finding A cause and a solution.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank You,

AZ Dreamscapes Concrete Contractor
When we moved into our home, we loved the house, but hated the back yard. So after a few years, we decided it was time to get er' done. I knew how I wanted it to look, and thanks to AZ Dreamscapes, that vision was realized.

I researched several Landscape Companies with most telling me the same things. It wasn't until i met with Scott that I realized I wouldn't have to have both cool decking and pavers. Scott told me about veneer pavers that go over the cement so there would be no transitions or marriage lines. That was news to me, and totally changed things. Prior to this, I was expecting to incur additional costs by having to re-coat the cool deck, something I really didn't want to do. We now have a paver paradise, haha. The look we have now is so much better than what we would have achieved from another contractor. Ours was not a small job, it was a complete backyard renovation, and AZ Dreamscapes pulled it off.

AZ Dreamscapes took care of the City permits and HOA paperwork. They did a great job and we have already had many compliments on how beautiful our yard looks. We know we will be making many family memories here.

If you're wondering whether AZ Dreamscapes can deliver, yes...yes they can.

Side Note - With any renovation, there will always be hiccups along the way, but Scott and his crew took care of them and handled every situation professionally.

Big Nicks Landscaping and Maintenance Concrete Contractor
Today we had Nick Everett and Spencer out from Big Nick's Landscaping and Maintenance. They did an amazing job! It had been a while and many of our plants and bushes were way overgrown. They took their time and trimmed most everything by hand.

Nick completely understood when I explained I wanted the plants to look natural, not trimmed flat and square. Hedges aren't my thing. If you want a family man that will understand what you want, give you top-notch service, and be someone you can count on, Nick is your guy.

Deck Services Concrete Contractor
It's unfair and disrespectful Not to provide a quote to the customer when you have promised. The person came to my home, checked my problem and said that he would let me know how much it would cost. More than a week past, no response! I called the company- the person said that he was still working on getting this quote!
What the hell, I said to myself! I said ok, I will wait. It's been over 1 month, still nothing. Of course, I am not waiting for a call anymore. He could have been honest right from the beginning so that at least I am not going to rely on this company. I explained my problem well over the phone even before he came to my house.
Be Honest and Transparent from the beginning! Do not hide! If you would not be happy with the money you would make or whatever the reason is, just say it.
