Best Lighting Installation in Philadelphia PA

Generation 3 Electric & HVAC Electrician
Kevin D. came to discuss the details of an upgrade of outlets and switches in my house. Not only was he thorough in explaining what could be done, given my specifications and preferences, but he also listened very carefully to several issues I have that are going to affect the second phase of this job. From wall positioning to outdoor lighting to figuring out how to handle the opposite side of the numerous party walls I have, Kevin took a lot of time to meticulously ensure he knew what I wanted and what my concerns were. (Bonus: he was very kind enough to get my kitchen lamp shade cover unscrewed in order to replace its halogen bulb--YES!!).

This is THE hallmark of all the project managers, advisors, technicians, sales representatives and customer service agents at Generation 3 Electric, and what I personally value SO very much in their service provision. Everybody just goes above and beyond my expectations so consistently. They work hard (but not in a pushy manner at all) with their clients to ensure that they get the best results possible. Once again, I'm looking forward to getting this work completed with this fabulous team!

Greg Avakian Electrician
Greg is very polite and will explain to you what he's doing. His rates are extremely reasonable. I asked him for a quote and the job ended up being cheaper because I didn't need some things. Would definitely use Greg's services again.

Lauterborn Electric Electrician
Lauterborn was terrific. I called them the day after a massive snowstorm because I had a tenant who was without power. I had called a number of different companies and no one else even had their trucks out on the road because of the snow, but Lauterborn came to the rescue. They came out quickly, charged a very reasonable price (which was what they quoted over the phone) and got the job done efficiently. After this experience, these are my go-to guys. I've only used them once, but I feel they are completely trustworthy and knowledgeable. Thanks Lauterborn.

JDV Electric Electrician
We've had JDV come out twice - to rewire some switches, install a couple of lamps, and add outlets to the basement. Both times we had great experiences, and the prices were fair. We'd definitely call them again.

iTech Electric Electrician
My experience with iTech started off pretty well. They were quick to respond and schedule a day/time to provide an estimate of installing an exterior outlet. Once there, they suggested that we replace our existing service (60 amp) and instead run a brand new 200 amp service in order to accomodate the new outlet/overall house electrical demands. This was expected since this is the original service to our 70+ year old house and we've had this on our list of things to do for quite a few years.

The quality of work was great! The installation of the board, exterior outlets (I asked for a 220v outlet to be installed along side of the 120v for a heavy duty pressure washer), wiring and wiring routing was very professionally and cleanly done for a VERY fair price.

So why the low rating? Well, my experience soured after the poor post work communication. I asked for an estimate on re-wiring my 2nd floor since the wiring is also original to the house. I was told that I would recieve that quote sometime the following week. That never arrived. I waited since I understand that this is a busy time of the year and thought that the quote would arrive maybe the week after that first week had passed. It still never came.

I reached out on the original Yelp message thread that I had with Tony to ask for the quote again since it may have slipped his mind due to this busy season. The message was read but not replied to. I finally ended up calling him to ask yet again for the quote and was told that I would receive it by 5:30pm that same day. And guess what? It still never came.

I'm not sure if this is his way of saying that he doesn't want the job or what's going on but because of this, I can't recommend them to anyone else. If you have a job that can be completed in a day, they're great to work with. If you have a bigger job that requires multiple days, then I would look elsewhere.

Edit: Updated star rating after having discussion with Tony and resolving situation

CJ and his team are thorough, hardworking, communicative and courteous. I needed to have my 100+ year-old home completely rewired from knob and tube electric. Princeton Electrical Makeover Electrician
To start of Princeton Electric were very professional since the time I reached out to them for a quote. The guy arrived on time and schedule and had taken care of all safety precautions. He was meticulous with measurements and also did provide a quote which was comparable to others I had received. Although I didn't work with them on the Tesla Charger installation project I wouldn't have doubts on working with them in future

EP Electric Electrician
Reached out to a handful of local companies for my outlet repair and EP gave me the best price. Andi was fantastic on the customer service end - knowledgable, accommodating, and polite. He was able to get me squared away with an appointment next day!

Ron was the tech that came out. He arrived on time (a little early which was great), was very kind, and kept me informed throughout the entire repair process. Great experience and his work was clean!

Will definitely be contacting them again for all future electrical work. Highly recommend EP Electric!!

Joel was awesome! He was on time and provided a fair quote. Joel was very efficient when running the wires to my bathroom exhaust fan, and also kept me informed throughout the process. Additionally, he helped me with an issue that I asked him about last minute. I will be using Aratech Services again in the very near future.

Tyree Strickland Electric, LLC Electrician
Found him through yelp. Owner came out to do a free look and sent me a typed estimate. One his employees came back on promised date and installed 2 ceiling fans and 2 light fixtures.  Owner sent me receipt and remained professional and polite even when i fussed at him about something that was not his or his tech's fault. (That alone would've earned him 5 stars!)
This is my first home and of all the people I've contacted for different repair/maintenance services he has been the most professional, least pushy and decently priced. I'm sure I'll use him again.

Alba Electric And Remodel Electrician
I wanted to share my experience so that others are aware when looking for an electrician.

Alba Electric was recommended by my realtor. We needed knob and tube wiring fixed for a house that we were in the process of buying. In order for us to move forward with a settlement, the insurance agency needed to see a receipt from the electrical company showing that we had put down a deposit and had scheduled the electrician.

I did not want to put over 2,000 dollars in the mail in Philadelphia so I sent the check through certified mail so he could sign for it. He responded asking us why we were afraid to send a check through regular mail and refused to pick up the check at the post office. I even offered to drop off the check!

Since we really needed to have this receipt for our settlement next week, I went ahead and sent another check via regular mail. 5 business days later, he claims to not have received a check in the mail. We put a hold on both checks (60 dollars)!

What a headache and waste of money : /

Thomas Edison Electric Electrician
I called this company on a hot summer day when my tenant called me and told me her power went off.  I was running around town with my two kids, so in a hurry I decided to call the first company I saw on yelp. I really wish I had taken more time to look for a more reputable company.

First, be aware that this company has multiple listings for different locations all over the city. If you look at their other listings, you will see the many poor reviews that they have received.

I received multiple phone calls from different people after my initial service request. They repeatedly told me that there is a $165 charge for emergency dispatch, and that once they do an inspection, they will let me know what the cost of the actual work will be. When the technician got to the house, a guy named Steven Miller called me and said he wanted me to pay the dispatch fee upfront before anything is done.  He then sent me an email to get my written authorization to charge the credit card. All of this seemed a bit odd to me... the multiple phone calls, the written authorization, the fee up front... but I didn't think too much of it and just proceeded.

About 10 minutes after I paid for the dispatch fee, Steve calls me back with his technician on the phone to tell me that they have to charge me another fee for the diagnostic. I told them that my understanding was after spending $165 they would be able to tell me what's wrong and give me an estimate on the cost of the work. He then proceeded to repeat everything that he and another one of his employees had already told me over the phone multiple times. I told him that I did not feel comfortable proceeding forward and that I was going to call around to see if other companies have similar practices. He then had his other employee (a woman with a courteous voice) call me to try to reason with me. I told her again that I was going to call around and if this is common practice, then that's fine, but if not then I will be leaving a long review for them.

I got off the phone with the woman and called another local electrician. This man was honest, prompt and straightforward. He came out within half hour and fixed the problem for me under 10 minutes and charged me a third of what Thomas Edison had quoted me for simply coming out and finding out what the problem is (not including any work done).

Needless to say, I will be sticking with my honest electrician from now on. Steve did call me again to tell me that he would not charge me the $165 as a courtesy to make me happy. I thought for a second about not leaving a bad review, but I decided that I cannot let this company get away with unethical practice. This company needs to know that people are not stupid and this kind of bait and switch business practice will only backfire. Simple honesty, trustworthiness and respect for people is the way to go.
