Lauterborn Electric

We used the guys at Lauterborn Electric for rewiring during a kitchen remodel.  The prior homeowners had some interesting ideas on how electric works, but Larry and his team addressed everything and did a great job rewiring and getting everything up to code for the remodel.  They went over the top to make sure we were satisfied and were extremely thorough.  Most importantly, I feel confident that the work was done correctly, is safe and won't cause me problems down the line.  

I would highly recommend Larry and the team for whatever job, big or small.

Larry's team is amazing.  Everyone is so patient, friendly, and incredibly thorough.  

Update: We recently used their services again to upgrade our electrical panel (200 amp 40 circuit) we are SO satisfied by the results!  I have future electrical projects for our new home and I will certainly use their services for each of them!

I'm a 71 year old retired senior.. my House is 35 yrs old..Lauterborn wasted 45 minutes of my precious time.  Whomever, came to my home, he was? and he is the most Unprofessional and Insulting individual I've never encountered... it was as if he did not want to Perform ANY   Work for me..I'm a retired Contracting Officer, Unlimited $ Warrant..39 1/2 yrs civil servant with the United States Federal Government (agency's mission..was to Award any and all Contracts  for Construction, Renovation and Maintenance of all Federal Buildings  and Courthouses in our country).
I wanted to hire Lauterborn to  inspect my home  for any and all Electrical needed upgrades, especially the circuit breaker box due to the increased technology. If it were Free, I would not hire this Firm!!

This review is slightly late but does not change my impression of Larry and his team.

Lauterborn completed a 200 amp upgrade as well as a variety of additional services for me. Larry and his sons were communicative, on-time, and professional. He was priced slightly higher (under 5%) than two other competitors, but I would hands down go with the experience these guys bring to the table. They are my go-to electricians moving forward.

I'm currently undergoing home renovations in South Philly and needed an electrician to rewire the entire house. I didn't know any reputable contractors (seems like a common problem here), so I took to Yelp to help in my search. After an hour of researching/reading reviews, I ended up calling several electricians to seek estimates.

I didn't end up going with Lauterborn Electric (due to a timing issue on my end), but I felt obliged to write them a positive review because Larry was nothing short of professional during my dealings with him.

He showed up on time for his appointment, and I showed him through my 3-story row home (part of which was demoed). He was very cordial, and you could tell he knew what he was talking about.

His quote came a couple days later. It was well organized/itemized. His price seemed very reasonable and in line with most of the other valid quotes I received. He even spent the time to discuss things with me over the phone at length, without making it seem like I was wasting his time or rushing him.

My schedule unexpectedly got pushed up, so as I stated previously, I was forced to go with another competitor. However, I would have absolutely no qualms having Larry do work on my house. I wish there were more easily accessible professionals like him in this city.

I've called Larry for electrical work for my home twice now: the first time was to install a new outlet/breaker because I was consistently getting overcurrents on a circuit that I needed to spread out. The second time was to run wiring through a wall up a floor to install a smart doorbell that literally no other contractor wanted to do.

Larry and his sons are prompt, friendly, explain everything that they are doing, and their work is fast and of high quality. They are the best - bar none. I won't work with any other electrician in the city.

They also gave me a badass t-shirt!

I have used Larry at Lauterborn Electric and his crew several times over the past 5 years and they have always exceeded my expectations.  They've run for new recessed lighting and overhead fixtures for the whole house, mounted tricky antique light fixtures and added electrical outlets.  Always courteous, on time, reliable and well priced. A pleasure to work with!

I bought a fixer-upper that had fire safety issues due to circuit panel water damage.  

Larry installed new 100amp service (cable, meter, and circuit breaker) at a fair price and ahead of schedule.  His work is very clean.
I look forward to working with Larry again as I eventually upgrade the rest of the house.

My PC is on the 2nd floor and my router on the 1st floor so I had them wire some cat 6 cable behind the walls from floor to floor with RJ-45 jacks at the ends. They did a great job, making only one small hole that they patched up and is barely visible even without painting it yet. They also did a nice job on running the cable through the basement, stapling it up very cleanly. The guys were really nice and easy to work with. I'm very pleased with the job they did and would definitely hire them again.

I highly recommend Lauterborn Electric. They helped put the finishing touches on our home by installing a ceiling fan in our living area, a funky industrial light fixture over our kitchen island, a stunning chandelier over our dinning room table and a new light fixture outside in our patio. Thanks to their personal, care and touch; our home finally feels like home sweet home.

Larry and his boys were great. We are in the process of slowly fixing up an old brownstone, which means lots of surprises and expensive updates. They were more than kind in our first round of work, very informative and easy to work with. They did quick, clean work installing ceiling lights and outlets.

I am happy to have found them to spruce up our old home!

Larry and his crew just completed rewiring my house and bringing it up to code, and installed lighting as well.  There were the consummate professionals, immediately putting me at ease and they did a fantastic job for a very good value.  I would recommend them enthusiastically for any electrical job that you have!

I highly recommend Lauterborn Electric.  I recently had Larry and Ryan at my house to work on a long list of electric projects and they did an amazing job.  I bought a chandelier to be installed and it came with over 100 pieces.  I was so impressed at how easily they were able to install and put together the chandelier.  They did a great job and they are reasonably priced and very professional.

Have a property that needed the entire Electric panel replaced due to corrosion.
I was in need of prompt service, they were able to come out same day to diagnose my issue and performed the needed service the next day.  

Great and easy to deal with. They explained all services that needed to be performed and answered any questions I had along the way.  I felt the pricing was competitive and I was very confident in using them.  

I will recommend to others and will use again when I need service performed.

Update to my previous review: still 5 stars!! Going on three years of using Lauterborn for all our electrical needs and haven't been disappointed. Most recently had them over to do 3 separate jobs and they still squeezed in fixing a heinous basement light situation as a total surprise for me. Love working with them!

Larry and his sons (Larry and Ryan) were great.  I see why they get such high ratings.  They were  reasonably priced, knowledgeable, polite, funny, did a great job, and they cleaned up afterwards.  This was the first in a series of things I need done, and I will definitely have them back.  I moved to Philadelphia 6 years ago but just bought my condo in May.  Finding contractors you can trust is not always easy.   I usually ask for recommendations from friends, but no one had anyone for me.  Next I go to Yelp, and Yelp did not disappoint.  Thanks guys and I will see you again!

Larry and his crew were great! I had a chandelier installed, including ceiling junction box, lines run and new switch. They came on time, worked incredibly clean and fast. I could not be more impressed with the final product. I highly recommend you give them a call for large or small jobs. I certainly will use them again for future work.

Amazing, hard-working crew. Larry and his sons were very quick to respond to my request for installation of a few ceiling fans and lights. Many other local electricians wouldn't even call me back. They were professional, fast and extremely knowledgeable. No job is too big or small for these guys - they had stories of jobs on full warehouses, to helping repeat customers who lose power. They know the true meaning of honesty and customer satisfaction.

I just moved into Society Hill. These guys are the best electricians. They are amazing electricians; competent, reliable, polite, reasonably priced.  Wouldn't  use any other!

Larry is a great guy! He was so helpful and went out to my home the same day and fixed the issue. He was honest and straight forward and did not over charge or try to get over on us. We will definitely use him again for any of our needs that require an electrician! I highly recommend him!!

I highly recommend Lauterborn Electric. Larry and his son Larry replaced 100amp service to my home, switched out recessed lighting to LED and a few other things.  They were fantastic!  Efficient, informative, reasonable and all with a sense of humor.  I am one happy customer. Call them now!!

Larry and his sons are reliable and deliver what they promise. They show up on time on the appointment date and give a quote the same day. They quoted me $325 for 3 tasks that needed to be done. They showed up the following day and took 1.5 hours to finish. One task was to replace a ceiling fan. Apparently the old one did not have a box to secure to the ceiling so they installed it for free. They don't go outside the quoted amount. Also if you pay cash, they will give you a discount.

I called them for an emergency repair and they showed up on time.
Father and son's team took care of the problem quickly. Not the cheapest, but I will use them again since I value punctuality and responsiveness.

There are not enough ways to articulate just how good of a job this crew does. Larry and his guys installed a 120 volt outlet in my garage, that draws electricity directly from my condo unit, so that I may charge my motorcycle batteries. It was fairly labor intensive, with a lot of concrete to drill through, and they knocked it out flawlessly, in no time flat. Their prices are fair, the work is clean, they're all personable, and they promptly scheduled a date and time that worked for me (immediately following the gratis quote they came out and performed).

Larry and his crew are amazing! They installed a Nest camera doorbell (with no existing wiring), a new ceiling fan, and hung two TVs with behind the wall wiring and outlets. They were reasonably priced and the care and detail to work was impeccable. Larry and his team made sure to clean after themselves and it was like they were never there, other than all of the great work done. He did such an amazing job that a few days later when a different fan blew and our washer tripped a breaker he came in right away. He told us the washer was likely an appliance issue and STILL looked at the breaker after we told him not to worry just to make sure we didn't spend unnecessary money on a new appliance. Lauterborn is a stand up company that does efficient and precise work. We have found our go to company.

Lauterborn Electric was great to work with!  They worked with my hectic schedule and were able to get my job done within a week of contacting them. They were on time, completed the job as planned, cleaned up afterwards, and even charged me less than their quoted price! On top of all that, Larry and his son were very personable which made the project fun. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing electrical work done.

They showed up on a last minute's notice and they were able to make a quick, efficient repair. Bought a house in 2012. The inspector noted open splices in the junction box  that needed to be fixed. Lauterborn Electric had great reviews so I felt comfortable in calling them to get an estimate along with several others companies. During the time of reviewing the job we noticed water was leaking in from the outside service cable. I felt them to be trustworthy. Through the process, Larry & his sons were on time, very professional, knowledgable & well priced. They installed a new 100 amp service cable, meter socket, 100 amp 30 circuit panel, new breakers, new GFCI 30 amp line for my electric dryer, bonded & ground the system, installed a bedroom light and ceiling fan. United inspectors came out 2 days after the job was done. Very easy process and very satisfied with the work they did. Already got another job lined up for them to do in the fall.

Took me awhile, but finally got to say how much we enjoyed having Larry and his guys Larry and Ryan working on our renovation (two bathrooms from the ground up, and some other smaller jobs). They did it all, with professionalism and aplomb! Most of all, they were here when we needed them to help our tile guys out when it came time to hook up the heated flooring. Highly recommended; we now consider them our house electricians. And there is bonus, great chit-chat on everything Philly sports and a variety of topics. Not sure who talks more, Larry or me! Call it a draw (Larry might disagree).

Ryan and Larry came to my house to fix ceiling lights that were not working. They promptly diagnosed and fixed the problem and also gave me advice on another light issue that I had. Thanks guys!

Lauterborn was terrific. I called them the day after a massive snowstorm because I had a tenant who was without power. I had called a number of different companies and no one else even had their trucks out on the road because of the snow, but Lauterborn came to the rescue. They came out quickly, charged a very reasonable price (which was what they quoted over the phone) and got the job done efficiently. After this experience, these are my go-to guys. I've only used them once, but I feel they are completely trustworthy and knowledgeable. Thanks Lauterborn.

Larry is a straight shooter, and a nice guy on top of that.  He and his son do a great job, and have done a lot of work on our farm in poor weather conditions without complaint, and has swooped in to save the day in emergency situations.  Highly recommended.

I have used Lauterborn more times than I can count. The range of services have been complete electrical overhauls to simple installations of fixtures and every time I'm impressed with their service. Larry and his sons are both knowledgable and entertaining. When it comes to contractors it's important to me that they clearly communicate before, during and after the job AND are on time. Lauterborn makes good in all of them. Estimates are upheld and they show up within the small window we agree to. I will continue to use and, more importantly, recommend them to others (and have).

I have nothing but praise for Larry and his crew. I had to have an electric  panel box replaced on my house. I had no electricity, and my house is all electric. . After no luck with two other electricians, I finally got the work done right and a fair price. I will definitely use them again if the need arises.

This father/son team is awesome.  My central air was not working during a 90 degree heat wave.  They came over 20minutes after I called to inspect the situation and said they'd be able to fix the issue the following AM b/w 8-8:30AM and they came right on the dot.  They are both so friendly, got the job done and the price they quoted me was $250 less than what someone else quoted me.  So happy to have found an electrician that I can trust!!

Really nice guy who works with his sons. Called me back within 24 hours even though I was a new customer and came by to do some small jobs for me the next day in my Center City townhouse. Was able to troubleshoot and fix everything on my list, and was fair to me with his pricing. I was pleased with the whole experience--better than electricians I've tried in the past who either haven't been good with communication or willing to do small jobs or don't really know what they're doing--Larry seemed both competent and a responsible communicator, and was personable as well. A good find!!

As a business owner for over 20 years I have seen a lot of self employed people come and go. What makes a good company survive while others flounder ??  A good product, a good price, and standout people that you can know and trust..

  I had used Lauterborn Electric once for a job (over a year ago) and I was happy with the upfront, honest and friendly way in which they presented a resolve to my issue. They did a good enough job that I referred them to a friend....who was happy that I did.

 I REALLY needed the Lauterborn Electricricians when I recently had a fire in my place of business. Larry Lauterborn answered his phone (which is a good indication of how their business is run) and he began to help that day with advice on what steps to take in my situation. They came out the next day with a quote for the repairs and when I agreed, they started the following day. I could blah blah blah you with all the details but I think you get where it's going.

 He has his 2 sons that work for him also and its nice to see that they are walking right in his footsteps. Kudos to you Larry, you are a good electrician and an even  better role model for your well mannered boys.

Called with a simple request to have to two outlets wired. As I was trying to explain what I needed he was offended that I described it has a relatively easy job. He asked why I don't do it my self if it was so easy.

Larry Sr. and his sons Larry Jr. and Ryan are helpful trustworthy electricians. I like to learn and they are happy to explain their work. They came to problem solve an electric circuit tripping the breaker and were very systematic going about their job. Great at thinking through all the possible causes and narrowing them down. They came twice, each time for about an hour to work on the issue but I was only charged one $150 fee. I'm extremely happy with their service and will call on them for future work.
