Best Gas Furnace Repair in San Jose CA
I got there reference from Angie's list. It said $49 of your service call. However, they informed me it will be taken of repair charges. However, it is a scam. There only goal is to collect the service fee, as predatory pricing schemes and poor service. For example, for a small job like Toilet flush repair - they asked for $200+. Anthony was only interested in collecting his service fee and had very bad attitude toward customer satisfaction.

Super Short Summary (for those that want the quick and easy snapshot)
- SUPER communicative. Like amazing and the reason I went with IRBIS
- Extremely punctual with no delays; 8-9am arrival time and were here at 7:45 ready to go
- SUPER professional (more details below)
- Took a half day longer than expected, but only because it wasn't working to their expectations.
No idea if competitive, but was so pleased with the initial professionalism and expediency that it didn't matter to me. Daniel Rodriguez, our lead technician, and partner Ivan were spectacular and super attention to detail.
Long story (the journey):
Phase 1: The beginning
I reached out to multiple HVAC companies through yelp all at once. IRBIS was the one with the fastest response time and continued to follow up with me. As the other died out in messaging, IRBIS persisted. So I went with them. I set up a maintenance visit for my current HVAC system as well as estimate, because I new it had to be replaced... soon ish. My thought process, maintain and then start thinking about saving and replacing.
Phase 2: Maintenance Visit
Alfonso was amazing. He was the calm in my panic. He did an inspection and while I kept asking his thought, he calmly stated that he was gathering all the information so that he can summarize it best for me at the end. We calmly sat at my kitchen table. He started by showing me a picture of my furnace's birthday... 1983. Yes, it's 40 years old. He then went on to show me a picture of the asbestos attached the furnace, the minor crack on the unit, and the leaking in my attic. He showed me pictures and explained the possible hazards as he went through the assessment. He told me that the furnace is running and that he replaced the filters and before he could even say he recommended replacement, I asked him next steps for replacement. Within 30 minutes, he was able to get a couple of guys from IRBIS to come and start talking to me about replacement.
Alfonso was great and calm, and didn't try to sell anything. Instead, he stuck with the facts and showed pictures of his assessment.
Phase 3: Raymond and the Estimate
Yes, due to the dire need of my situation and the panic clearly in my voice (mom with two small children), Raymond and friend (I can't remember the name.. sorry!) were at my door within 30 minutes or so ready to assess the situation. They gave me multiple options based on my preferences and price. In summary:
Asbestos removal with a 3rd party company +
- Option 1: Economy: HVAC Replacement (literally replace the 40 year old one with a newer version). All gas, not A/C replacement.
- Option 2: Comfort: Upgrade from the economy package (got eliminated pretty quickly
- Option 3: Hybrid: Both gas and heat pump. Got eliminated pretty quickly as well because it was the most expensive option.
- Option 4: Heatpump (aka all electric). Yes, it was much more expensive than the economy one, but gas price has been ridiculous, we have solar, and it's better fore the environment. Plus there's rebates and tax deductions.
The husband was at work, so Raymond and friend kindly sat in the car while I consulted with folks and the internet. After 30 minutes or so, we went for Option 4, full electric. We signed a contract and turned off the heat for our safety.
Around 5pm, 4 new space heaters arrived at my door as well as an email communication from Derek Nguyen. SUPER timely with responses. There was a small mix up in times, but within 20 minutes, Derek resolved things and were back on track!
Phase 4: Asbestos Removal (Day 1)
This was all done through a 3rd party company. They were efficient and sealed off the areas very well. They taped off our air vents when done, and let me know that one of the vent fans in the bathrooms was broken and that IRBIS would fix it when they come to install new vents.
Phase 5: IRBIS Install (Day 2 -3.5)
Prior to the install, I received an email and a text about IRIBS' arrival. Estimated time was between 8-9. The text allowed me to see their true arrival time because it gave me their location to track their movement towards my home. As with all other posts, they were VERY punctual and actually arrived early (ps, they're totally fine waiting until you're ready to allow them to start work). 4 guys showed up and here's all that they did in 2 days:
- Removed all our duct work in the garage & attic, removed old furnace & A/C unit, rewired all electrical, removed all old pipes and insulation
- Added new everything back in + created an outlet outside, made everything to code.
- Created 2 new vents + Duct lines
List can go on, but see pictures.
Again, Daniel Rodriguez & Ivan + Crew from Saturday were awesome.
Added Bonus: Owner showed up on Saturday to check on the crew and bought them lunch. He wasn't super personable with me, but it doesn't matter. He took care of his guys who opted in to work on a Saturday and even got his hands dirty. That means a lot. Family business is the way to go.

Very handy and work hard. The precious investigator assigned by American warranty told me there is a gas leakage. However it is not the case. Techs from AY EMP found the key reason that is there was something blocking in the gas pipeline. They finally fix the problem. Very nice work.

I had a great experience with these guys. I called on Labor Day weekend and they got back to me in less than two hours. The guy who came out was friendly, explained what was wrong and how he would fix it, how much it would cost, etc. He fixed it and it was done.
We had gotten another quote from rotorooters, who misdiagnosed the problem, said they couldn't fix it until Labor Day weekend was over, and were charging more.

Mike and Jeff were very professional and got the job done in a highly efficiant time.
And as for thier cost, i can tell you they are very reasonable in thier fees.
They will be my go to ser ice company if ever needed! That said i would higly recommend you call for your needs.

We had a great experience with Fuse, and specifically with technician Tim. Tim was super helpful and explained everything in detail. We had him come out to check out our AC system and discuss other options for cooling our place, specifically a couple of bedrooms. He was really honest and actually did not recommend that we change our system to a zoning system and said that it would likely be a waste of money. This was the only company that didn't jump on trying to sell us some sort of expensive HVAC system and that seemed honest about what would and wouldn't work in our home. Tim was also respectful of our home and keeping it clean. We'll definitely work with Fuse again in the future!

We have used PA Plumbing in the past and this time Mo was amazing and most efficient again.
Extremely kind, polite and professional demeanor. Good knowledge and craftsmanship as well.
We had wait a week because they are very popular, but the day of our appointment they called and were able to come early. Thank you again for taking care of us!

Luis from Pacific Coast was timely, thorough, efficient and exceptionally professional. He walked me through EVERYTHING and was clear and concise in his explanations. The before and after was nothing less than astonishing. It was one of the best home appointments I have ever had and I will call them again for any relevant repairs.

This review is for the great customer service I received.
I used their Yelp feature to request a quote (so handy! -- hint, hint, other businesses!)
I received a speedy email reply in 30 mins. and I placed a follow up call for more questions. The young lady on the line (Bianca?) was very friendly, but I think she was in training and had to fumble a bit for answers.
I very much appreciate that she would say, let me check instead of guessing or brushing off the questions. She quoted a possible service date and price.
I let her know that I would call around for a sooner service date and get back to her.
I received a call back a few minutes later and she apologetically told me they were not able to accommodate the service quoted but she offered me the name of another provider who might.
Thank you Bellows for being kind enough to contact me and value my time and a good neighbor giving another contact.
