Best Plumbing Inspection in Pittsburgh PA

We have used Scott Boyd plumbing ourselves and recommended them to my mother and our son for various jobs. Here's the first unique thing - they answer the phone!! Number 2 thing is this( wait for it) they actually show up when they say they will.. I know most of you will call bs on that, but it's 100% true!!  We have been stood up by various plumbers ( yeah you know who you are) so many times I still can't believe these guys show up!! And if they have the parts , they fix what needs fixed.  And what they charge is really reasonable. Nice people, decent prices,good work. And don't forget- they actually SHOW UP! So if you want a totally new experience- give these guys a call.

I call Frank anytime I have a plumbing issue. He comes over quickly, gets the job done, and charges a reasonable price. In the past year he's come to my house on 3 different occasions and I've always been very satisfied with his work. I highly suggest using him.

Needed a new hot water heater. Called & they came the next day!!   Friendly plumbers who did the work.

& even played with our dogs!!
Definitely will use them again when the need arises!!

Gave me a time from 1 to 4 PM. rang my doorbell which has a camera waited less than 30 seconds and left.  Had both my wife's phone number and mine and could've called but I guess the 30 sec wait was way too much for them.

Petrack Plumbing re-routed our sink and dishwasher lines as well as our gas line for our kitchen remodel. They also installed a line for our fridge ice maker. James (and Scott) did an amazing job. Everything is clean and precise. They also came back out to install the faucet, connect the dishwasher, stove, and fridge. The work was exceptional and done for a great price. I highly recommend Petrack Plumbing!!

We had Fady come by to make some repairs and we were so impressed by his professionalism, respect, and work. He showed up with a mask covering his face and booties in his shoes before I even answered the door. What a really nice man, too. Highly recommend, all around great experience.

They just replaced our water heater today. Good communication, stuck to their price, and were incredibly professional. They also unclogged a drain and replaced a valve, all within an hour.

Excellent service!!! Joe is top notch and knows his stuff. He focuses on the Backflow installations so if that's what you need, he's a very good answer to your problem and more!! Coordinates with inspectors and makes job easy for owners.

BEWARE! THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!! DISHONEST, UNRELIABLE, RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

He no-showed after low bidding a sewer liner repair for me. His bid was approx $1,000-1,500 less than two other reputable plumbers. Unfortunately, the bank crediting me for the repair (in negotiating a home purchase), chose his bid-since it was by far the lowest.

He strung me along for months, promising to do the work, then eventually stopped returning my calls/texts. I had to scramble to find another plumber, and had to pay a reputable plumber hundreds of dollars (out of my own pocket!) to make up the difference from what the bank credited me and his low-ball offer. I almost received thousands of dollars in fines from the Township for not having the work completed on time.

At one point he showed up unannounced, 2 months later, when I wasn't even at home, pretending he was going to start the job-after I had already cancelled him and scheduled another plumber (I imagine in an attempt to protect himself from a lawsuit). He claimed he then broke his camera on rocks in my sewer while doing an inspection, so now he could not do the job! Rocks that weren't there weeks before, when the dye test was done, but mysteriously appeared when he showed up. He was rude to my neighbors when they asked who he was and what he was doing-then took off in a hurry leaving them to clean up the rocks everyone believes *he* planted there.

He claimed he didn't have a replacement camera (most plumbers have 12) and that it would take 2 weeks(!) for the camera to be repaired (past the deadline for the work to be completed without fines).  When I offered to wait the two weeks (just calling his bluff, not actually planning to use him at this point) he THEN claimed he didn't have the money to get the camera fixed- after he'd already told me it was in the shop being repaired!

He actually acted like he was doing me a favor by not charging me for the camera he supposedly broke on the rocks in my sewer.

I found out that he is considered a joke who does this all the time: low bids to get the job, over books and then cancels or no-shows last minute. Do yourself a favor and use Matt Mertz, who I highly recommend.

I had a spot on the garage ceiling.  

When they arrived, they immediately cut a whole in the ceiling plaster board where the water spot was.    They felt around but couldn't find anything wet, so they think it was condensation from a duct in that area.   The plumber could feel a pipe connection and asked if I wanted metallic tape put around the connection....that way it would ensure there would be no leak from there.

In order to reach the pipe connection, they had to increase the hole size a little larger.  

The reason I am only giving them 3 stars is:
1.)  they should have told me upfront that they are not responsible for repairing any hole they make.
2.)  they did not leave an invoice.    I had to call the office multiple times before they sent it to me in the mail.
3.) They were only working in the garage for less than 30 minutes (more like 20 minutes).  The bill was  $229.50 - $79.50 for a SERVICE/DIAGNOSTIC FEE and $150.00 for Cut access out in ceiling to find water leak.  
4.)  They made no attempt to even sweep up the mess they left on the garage floor.

My water tank suddenly went out and I needed help. My neighbor recommended Ben Franklin plumbing. I called and they responded promptly. An appointment was set and they showed up on time.  I got a new water tank.

But this does not describe the level service that I received. I was thoroughly impressed with not only their professionalism but with the dedication of the installers. This was a really good group of honest guys.  I was truly comforted to see the pride and dedication that my technicians portrayed.  As crazy as it sounds, not only was I thoroughly impressed, I was moved by their honesty and straightforwardness.

Our home was built in 2012. They did the plumbing for the house including the Radon pipe. In March of last year we had the radon fan put in as a precaution for when we finish the basement. Yesterday I noticed water coming from the insulation behind the radon pipe. The issue wasn't there before, however, condensation won't form inside the pipes until that fan was installed. All the water seems to be coming from the pipe joints which would mean they were never properly glued. I asked them to come out and check because of what I saw and to do it at no cost due to the fact, that assuming I'm correct about the joints, it's shoddy work that caused the issue. I was told they charge $125 an hour, and, even if I'm right and the joints weren't properly glued that it's out of warranty anyway.

So to recap, if something is their fault - they charge you for it anyway. I wasn't even offered them coming out to check and if they see I'm right a fix at no charge, but if I'm wrong I'm charged. That I would've understood. Instead it was even if it was our fault it's out of warranty anyway. They clearly don't stand by their work so I'll be having another plumber I can trust come and check it out.

Despite what my profile on here states, I don't live in CA - I live in PA.

Left us hanging for two months.  After getting on their schedule and had a date and time set, got a call that he's stuck on another job.  No problem, he then rescheduled us for another day and then never showed.  I call and he then says he hadn't rescheduled us!  Totally  unreliable and dishonorable company.

Selling a house, and the day before the closing PWSA says we need a dye test (pgh2o.com/dye-testing) before the sale can go through.

My real estate agent spent her afternoon calling around trying to find a plumber who could conduct the test on short notice. After making a dozen calls, she spoke with Eric from Fagnelli Plumbing.

Eric came through for us! He was able to perform the test on very short notice, and got us what we needed to satisfy PWSA. If it weren't for Eric at Fagnelli Plumbing, we'd have had to delay closing until after the holiday.

I had a pipe leak behind the wall, I called Bauer and specifically asked about service fee and estimate.
They said $25. After they came, they put a whole in the wall, located the leak. Then told me it will cost $280 to fix + $25 service fee and the hour labor that took home to poke the whole which was an additional $120.
I don't recommend anyone to use Bauer.

Will not respond after having issues with their work

They installed a new boiler in our house the past spring. Have been having issues with it since late January. It will shut off and gives an error message. Email Mike P of their company and he will not respond, bee over a week. Also because things were not done right a radiator in my basement cracked and water started to gush out. Luckily I found the shut off valves to the radiator so it could be shut off. I understand issues arise, but the unwillingness of these people to address these issues are why they get the 1 star rating. If you use them don't ever expect they will get back to you in a timely manner if you need something.

All this guy does is talk and talk but no action! Never hire this guy unless you want to call another qualified plumber to come correct his work. This guy should have plumbing license revoked for his lack of knowledge!
