Best Water Heater Installation in Minneapolis MN

Erickson Plumbing, Heating, Air, Electrical Plumbing Service
We have used Erickson for our heating and air conditioning since 1989 when they installed central air conditioning in our 1916 vintage house which had a boiler and radiators and thus at that point in time had no duct work.  At the time Erickson was one of the few HVAC contractors who did this type of work. It was very complex with part of the system outside and the air handling system in the attic.  Installation involved running piping from the outside, downstairs compressor to the attic and then installing duct work from the attic to the rest of the house. They were able to do this without damaging the house and with minimal disruption by running the ducting in the closets. The system functioned very well for 25 years until we had Erickson replace the mechanical components with a newer more efficient system recently.  They also replaced our old original boiler with a new high efficiency boiler when our old boiler was on the brink of failure.  The old boiler was one of those old cast iron monsters but they removed it without causing damage or a huge mess.  They have provided us with scheduled maintenance for years and the technicians Jason and John are very knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. I am a mechanical engineer by training so I know that these guys know what they are doing. The advantage of working with a relatively small company like Erickson is that they know you and your system and you know them.  When we have had to reach out to the owner Zack Erickson he has always been very accessible and courteous and he knows HVAC. I highly recommend this company and have a hard time understanding the negative comments.

Hibernian Plumbing Plumbing Service
Sometimes in life one finds oneself with a broken water pipe on a Sunday night, in the middle of a pandemic, mere hours before a house inspection that could make or break a sale.  Surely, I thought, it would be impossible to find a plumber who would be willing to come on such short notice, who'd have the knowledge and experience to do the job, and who wouldn't charge an absolute fortune.

But as fate would have it, I found Steve @ Hibernian and my plumbing emergency actually turned out to be a positive experience.  He clearly knew exactly what he was doing and he had the expertise, equipment, and strength to get the job done well.  What's more, he was pleasant, professional, and personable... and he was completely fair in his pricing (even with the circumstances).

I highly recommend Hibernian Plumbing.

John's Sewer and Drain Cleaning Plumbing Service
We had John's come out to fix a clogged shower drain. I contacted them in the evening via their website, and they were prompt in responding and they got a guy out the next morning - I was so impressed. The guy fixed our drain quickly, and was super friendly and professional. I will definitely use them for any other problems I come across.

Note: On Yelp, their service area is incorrect - I live in Lakeville, and they had no problem coming to me.

BP Mechanical Plumbing Service
Needed some help installing a new trap and drain on the kitchen sink. Creative PVC work was definitely the order of the day.

Communication was awesome - Pat described what he would do, when he would show up, and did a fantastic job. Right on time and everything as described.

Professional, neat, and even hooked up the faucet that was my honey-do item for when we had a sink again!

Fantastic job - highly recommend this husband-and-wife team!

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup Plumbing Service
I have (yes, present tense) an issue the pipe from the toilet leaking in the basement due to an incorrect / misaligned fitting.  It's causing toilet water (yuck) to get all over the basement.  I noticed this problem on a Sunday afternoon and was pleased to see that Roto-Rooter is open on Sundays.

I called, a dispatcher answered, I described my problem, and she told me the tech would arrive between 4pm-7pm the same day (Sunday).  Perfect.  The dispatcher called around 4pm to let me know the technician was on the way for my floor drain backup (not the problem).  I corrected her and described the problem again.

The technician arrived at around 4:30pm, took one look at the pipe coming down from the toilet, and said, Why did they send me for this?  This isn't what I thought it was.  I don't have parts for this.  They need to listen better.  SERIOUSLY!?!  He then said, Maybe they just wanted to make you happy and send someone out here today.  Well, why would it make me happy if I still have plumbing issues???

He called dispatch himself and described the problem again (the same way I did, for the record), and gave me a new window of Monday from 8am-10am for another tech to come out.  I would have to miss work to wait around for someone to show up, but ok, I figured I'd give them another shot.

I realized I never asked for an estimate, so I called later that evening and was told that they don't give estimates over the phone.  Not even their base price for having to come out here.  I was assured that I could just tell the technician that I didn't want the service if the price didn't work for me.  That seemed a little weird to me.

Monday morning, after rescheduling work meetings so I could stay home and wait... I get a call at 9am telling me that the techs are running late.  I asked how long it would be until they arrived and they said they would still be 1.5-2 hours out.  I have to get back to work, so I can't stick around and wait.  I just can't believe that I would be having to make a THIRD appointment with them at this point.  I guess I'm glad they called and didn't leave me in the lurch, but my problem still isn't fixed.

I can't testify to the quality of their work, but I don't think I'll be calling them again.

Weld & Sons Plumbing Plumbing Service
Always reliable service from Weld & Sons.

Kurt was out to fix a leak under our kitchen sink last week. It turned out to be our garbage disposal. Unfortunately it was older and a seal had broken. Before starting work he explained what the problem was very throughly. We talked about options. He quoted his estimated work time and parts cost and asked if we were alright with that. Stand up company. They have our business for life.

PJS Plumbing Plumbing Service
I've used Pete to help me finish my basement bathroom as well as a bonus room bath.  I've also given his name to many of my friends for their projects such as toilet replacement, leaky faucet repairs, and used him at our place of business (flooring replacements).  Pete always responds and gets the job done when we need him to!

St Paul Pipeworks Plumbing Service
Very dissapointed, hired them 9 months ago and the shower kit they installed already is dripping. Just crap. They quoted me $900 and then when the bill came it was $1000. Tacked on a $90+ service fee on top of labor and parts, was not in the quote. And they forgot to leave the trim kit which delayed installation. They got mad when I asked them about the bogus $90 fee. It was all around a huge dissapointment.

Chris' Plumbing & Drain Plumbing Service
I called Chris as well as 6 other plumbers on a Sunday and he was the only one who called me back within 10 minutes.   He came within 90 minutes and was extremely thorough.  I felt his prices were fair, especially given it was a weekend.  I would highly recommend him for any plumbing job you need.

Discount Plumbing and Drain Cleaning Plumbing Service
Their web site says free estimates.  Don't believe it!  They have a trip charge.  How convenient.  I got a verbal estimate of $1400 plus tax to replace shower faucets (valve assembly).  I said I was going to get another bid; so the WRITTEN ESTIMATE was over $1600.  What a rip.

Bruckmueller Plumbing Plumbing Service
We needed a whole house water system installed.  Bruckmueller plumbing came out and got the whole thing done beautifully in no time. Installation is very professional,  tucked back into a corner so it's not in the way, and works fantastic. Floor drain started to back up from the water pressure and he worked to clear that too. We will be using Bruckmueller again.

Plumb Right Plumbing Service
The plumber was very friendly and they took care of the issue but that's pretty much the extent of the positive review. They ultimately just had to snake a shower drain and we were charged over $315 for that. When looking at average shower draining costs from 2015, the range for a tub drain according to Angie's List was $109 to $214. Even tacking on the $60 driving fee we still were significantly overcharged. Also did not receive an itemized receipt (or any receipt for that matter due to a technical glitch that the plumber said would be taken care of by the office and wasn't). Be prepared to be overcharged for simple tasks if you call this company.

Augie's Sewer & Drain Cleaning Plumbing Service
We live by Minnehaha Creek in a 77 year old house. A couple of days ago our basement started flooding from groundwater after torrential rain during flash flood alerts. The drain was working slowly, but then got clogged with debris and the utility area ended up with about 6 inches of standing water. The water seeped into the finished area and the carpet is toast.

I first called RR and couldn't get a bit of information from them regarding price. I called twice. The wait time was 3-6 hours and I scheduled for that. Then I looked at more reviews and from what I had read from irate clients, it looked like it would be a minimum of $249. Since there was no charge for a service call I kept the appointment, but decided to call someone else. I got an immediate response from my text to Augie's and he said it would be late afternoon and would call when he had a better time frame.

RR came out and from across the room quoted $249. Shocker! I asked why they couldn't tell me that on the phone given that they had the exact same info (my account of the situation) as he and he gave the same reply the phone operators had. We quote by the job and we have to assess onsite. Again, he gave me a quote from across the room. I'm sorry they wasted a trip, but... If I hadn't already called Augie's I probably would have paid it since I wouldn't have known when someone else could come out.

From Augie's website, it looked like it would be $155. About an hour and a half before he came, we had gotten a sump pump and it was working, but not very fast due to limitation of our hose. Augie came in, got straight to work and the water rushed out very rapidly. I took the sump pump to our neighbor and Augie was gone by the time I got back. I, somewhat cautiously, asked my husband how much it had cost. It was $102. $99 for the clean out and $3 for a part. Apparently the charge was for a typical drain.

Wow!! His number is going on the fridge.

I just wish that, given the age of our house, we had done a preventative clean out before the rain. It might have saved the carpet.

A Aart's Speedy Plumbing Plumbing Service
Main sewer line was backing up. Called Tim's Quality Plumbing (also known as A Aart's & Tim's Quality Plumbing) and they sent somebody out the next day. He looked things over and gave me some options (including referring me to another company that offers hydro jetting because he didn't think augering the line would work with the massive tangle of roots that were in the line). I decided to take a chance and have him auger the line anyway and he pulled out every last root (he told me I should play the lottery because of how lucky it was that he actually got them out). I was impressed with his expertise and also that he was willing to refer me to a different company when he thought that would be the better course of action. The price was right about what I was expecting (a little less actually). He saved me a whole bunch of headache for sure. I highly recommend Tim's Quality Plumbing.

Sabre Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning Plumbing Service
Before I begin, I want to say that I have a unique situation. When my house was built (far before I bought it) they decided not to make room for a furnace inside the house. Instead, they opted to go with a furnace/air conditioner combo unit on the outside of the house.

My existing combo unit died in 2013. I hired Sabre Heating & Plumbing to install a new unit. On the installation day (Friday, December 20, 2013), I should have realized that Sabre was not the company I should have gone with. I was at work when they installed it. When I returned home, I tried to turn on the furnace but it would not turn on. I decided to look around the new unit to see if there was a power switch or button. I couldn't find one but instead found a pair of fuses just sitting on top of the unit and two wires coming out of the ground, neither attached to anything (see included images). I told them what I saw and the next day they came out and fixed it. Strangely, I did not see the fuses or wires poking out of the ground later.

To protect my investment, I signed up for their Sabre Blue Maintenance Plan. For $300/year, a technician would come out twice a year to make sure the unit was running correctly. For the first few years, everything seemed to be working just fine. I believed that when they came out for the biannual checkup that they were doing a thorough inspection of the unit. Also, since there were different technicians who came out over the years, if one technician missed something then the next one would probably catch it (or so I thought).

Things started to go wrong in the summer of 2018. At the beginning of August 2018, the air conditioner was not cooling my house so I had them come out. I looked back in my email and all I could find was a charge for $106.25. I don't delete emails so I was surprised to find no work order. On 8/16/2018, there was another charge for $108.00 to replace an ARMOD. On 10/11/2018, again my combo unit was having issues and I was charged another $125.00 for a trip fee. Next year on 8/22/2019, I again needed them to come out and repair my unit. This time at $234.00 and again with no work order so that I could not trace back what they did. One month later on 9/20/2019 they had to come out again. This time to replace the TXV at $433.89. The sheer number of issues with my unit should lead me to believe that these $300/year biannual checkups were either not being done or being done by untrained technicians.

This leads to the most recent issue. On 2/4/2020, I noticed my furnace making a loud whirring noise. On the following day, it stopped producing heat. The technician who came out replaced the inducer motor. I asked what I could do to prevent this going forward and he told me that sometimes they just seize up. He got the furnace working but I noticed that there was barely any air pressure coming out of the vents. I was happy the furnace was working so I just let it run for the night. I woke up cold at 3:00 am and saw that the temperature in my house was 56 degrees. I called Sabre again the next day and informed them that the furnace would run for 20 minutes and then shut off. They sent a different technician the following day. After working on it for a number of hours the technician told me that furnace was overheating and that a safety switch was turning it off. I asked him what could be causing it to overheat and he replied: I don't know. He told me that he would increase the high limit so that the overheating would not shut off the furnace. I didn't like this answer so, for the first time, I decided to call another HVAC company, Blue Ox. Within 20 minutes the Blue Ox technician discovered that the evaporator coil was completely blocked by dirt and dust. The reason why it was overheating was that no air was coming through the intake and the motor was trying extra hard to suck in air. In addition to this, the Blue Ox technician noticed that the exhaust vent was still taped inside the furnace where the evaporator coil was. The Sabre technicians who installed the furnace didn't know or even bother to inspect the unit after they had installed it (hence the random fuses and bare wires). Since this exhaust vent had been in there since the installation, it meant that no Sabre technicians had bothered to look at the evaporator coil, not on the numerous times they came out to fix the unit or on the many biannual checkups. In addition, these experts rarely offered solutions and were not even curious as to what the underlying issues were. This makes me believe that they are either severely under-trained, extremely lazy, or unethical. Any way you cut it, it is a good reason to go with someone besides Sabre.

Sabastian & Sons Plumbing Services Plumbing Service
I had Sebastian out to do some rough in plumbing, fix a floor drain and do some finishing work. He did very bad work and was very dishonest. He repaired a main water line and Unclogged the basement floor drain. The water main started leaking again and I had to pay to get it fixed and the floor drain was not properly unclogged and it caused me to fail an inspection. He also, in a very threatening way demanded more money after changing his bid and refusing to do the work he agreed on. Don't go with this company unless you want poor quality work with changing prices.

Big River Plumbing Plumbing Service
Was terrible, from not showing up first day to being late .. He knew I had a home warranty, they were the ones that found him.  He knew the rules.
This process took over a month to get resolved, He finally came out to the house and told me I had 3 leaks under my kitchen sink.  After numerous attempts from myself and the home warranty to get the $$ for fixing the problems he finally came back with a cost of:
$717 for the kitchen faucet (I told him no, I bought one myself and had it installed)
$225.00 garbage disposal
$184.00 old garbage disposal (I could of thrown this away myself after looking at the invoice)
$115.00 piping repair.
The day the problems were corrected he told me to pay bill in full and that he wasn't dealing with the home warranty company and that if I didn't pay him he was charging me an additional $160 per hour. I paid him as I wanted them out of my house.  All this took place while I had the home warranty on the phone explaining to him they would be issuing him a check that very day!  But Jason from Big River Plumbing, didn't care! my after thought were I should of called the police and had them removed from my property.
Then Jason had the nerve to send me an email thanking me for their business and wished me a 'blessed' day.. Really?!?!?

Save your headaches! this problem took over a month to get resolved.  Don't use them for any projects!!!
