49er Plumbing & Drain

I had a stopped up sink during the 4th power outage in a two week period so my patience was a little short when this happened.  I called 49 Plumbing and they got someone out early the next morning.  Derrick came out and fixed my sink and also recommended a few changes that would minimize future issues.  He was helpful, polite, on time, and very personable.  I was impressed and would call his company again.

I had a stopped up sink. I called 4 plumbers before I connected with 49er. Although I was out of their service area the owner said he had a tech fairly nearby & could get to me that afternoon. The tech, Joel, called that afternoon & said he was about 5 minutes away. The problem was a bit more complicated than just a snake job. Joel figured it out & got the job done effectively & efficiently. He couldn't have been more professional. Kudos to 49er & Joel. It's difficult to find services like this nowadays. When you do it should be commended.

Hats off once again to the ownership of 49er Plumbing and Drain. During a termite inspection, our Clark Technician noticed damp concrete and basement soil. I immediately called Sharon at the 49er Office and scheduled a convenient appointment. Joel was immediately assigned (and from his previous work at our house replacing 3 toilets/kitchen sink faucet, we knew we were is good hands.) Joel called ahead before arriving and asked me what sizes of black ABS pipe were visible near the leak. I measured and also sent photos of the basement work/piping area which helped Joel pre-select ABS fittings before he arrived at the house. Joel arrived on-time (as Sharon had told when I called for the appointment), explored in wall plastic pipe options, eliminated potential exposed cuts on an outside wall to access pipe, cleaned up a tangled under sink dishwasher water drain and replaced all cracking/leaking ABS plastic inside the kitchen cabinet, inside wall and under the house in the basement fiberglass insulated workspace. Our house work task and our our confined area was extremely tough. Total cleanup of all removed piping/canvas draped work area. Joel always tests for leaks following repair work using 'a live water flow test . . Parts and labor were of excellent quality and workmanship and well within our budget. Plumbing parts are always sourced locally for us by 49er Plumbing using Grass Valley's Sierra Plumbing Supply, so repairs are done with strong quality in-stock fitting(s) with no delay on obtaining and installation by 49er Plumbing. If you have a plumbing problem or consider remodeling, give them a call...they really know what to do with effective planning, response and repair. You will not be disappointed. We plan to use them again!!

Derek called before coming, came wearing a mask, fully prepared to install 2 toilets.  Perfect installation, absolutely no mess, cheerful, polite and very kind.  Thanks 49's Plumbing

DON'T CALL ANOTHER PLUMBER BUT THESE GUYS!  Live in LOP now -called RR- paid $112. to put an auger in the toilet. Upon leaving, told us to pull the toilet and see what's clogging it! (That's why we called a plumber!)   Really?  Called 49er Plumbing and they replaced our pump float in main sewer-the real problem! Customer service was outstanding-guys name was Derek - very polite and knowledgeable!  No rush, and didn't leave until we were happy! Worth every penny!!!

I called them to fix a complex water pressure problem with my bathtub, I explained that the problem was likely with the fixture and may need to have fittings custom welded so that the current hose connections could be eliminated to improve water flow. The owner said that they would be able to do this but he wanted to look at it first because maybe using bigger pipes would help.

They sent another plumber out who said the connection was fine, but he wasn't prepared to put in bigger pipes and they would call me to reschedule.

The never called back... I finally called and rescheduled. They came put in bigger pipes but absolutely nothing changed with the water pressure.... nothing except a $500 bill.

No other suggestions to fix the problem, the bigger pipes still connected to the same exact hoses.

So I told the owner I wasn't happy with the situation, he started yelling at me saying I was trying not to pay him and that I owe him money.

That was NEVER in dispute, I never said I didn't want to pay him or wanted a reduced bill. I only want the problem fixed.

I knew going In that this was a complex issue likely involving the fixture and needed custom work.

I was expecting to pay around $1000

But the owner just wanted a easy fix and did not want to do the work needed to fix the situation.

Instead he just wanted to attack me and accuse me of trying not to pay, for the simple reason I was unhappy the problem was not fixed.

I can't recommend this company to anyone based on the fact they have not delivered any kind of real working solutions or anything close to acceptable customer service.

Had a solid stream of water coming from the top of our 14 year old hot water heater. I shut off the water and immediately went on Yelp to look up a plumber but I decided to call our local plumbing supply,Sierra Plumbing, to see if they would recommend someone. They gave me several names and numbers and I left several messages. Jeff with 49er plumbing was the first to call, I explained the problem and he said he would be right over. We both looked at the water heater and the jinky plumbing that had been done and decided to replace it and the plumbing including the valve. Jeff is great, down to earth and straight forward. He really knows his craft and he had no problems working while I retired guy talked his ear off. The job he did was perfect and I will hire 49er Plumbing again in the future. If you are having plumbing issues in the Grass Valley area give 49er plumbing a call, you will not regret it!

Derrick solved my broken outdoor PVC pipes with ease and then asked if I had any other plumbing problems to look at before we could test to insure the fix worked.  In those 20 minutes he fixed two problems I had been living with ease!  I am so happy that he repaired the big problem I had but also fixed the smaller annoying problems.  I will call them anytime I have a problem or anytime I want to get ahead of a problem, like getting a new water heater before my old one breaks.

Derrick was awesome! Showed up in a mask, and quickly located the drain pipe. There was a pretty severe blockage but he worked at it until it cleared. He even gave me some advice for an irrigation issue as well

The service we received from Derek the service technician was so professional. He really had knowledge of our  Navien instant hot water heater. My husband and I are very great full for the quick service we received. Will use them from now on !!!!!!
We called for service on a Monday and Derek the service technician was here Tuesday morning.

I don't recommend 49er Plumbing and Drain. Jeff came out quickly and installed our on demand water heater but when I called to have him come out for follow up service he never returned my call after repeated attempts. So if you care about after sale follow up service you may not get it here.

Great service   We had Joel come and do 6 installations of faucet, toilet etc.  he was focused and complete. Thanks Joel. Shannon at the office is great. She was patient and professional.

Well I asked them to come look at putting in a jacuzzi bath tub for me ! They blew me off ! I guess they serve whom they choose ?

This company provides great service from first contact, to following up with future appointments to knowledgeable technician's that take pride in their work. Highly recommend.

Jeff was able to get Derek out first thing in the morning after a pipe broke. Got it fixed quickly and it looks and works great. Also learned a lot from Derek. Super nice people. Highly recommend!

Just received the best service ever.  Had our garbage disposal and water filter system replaced in our kitchen and a toilet replaced in one of our bathrooms.  Quality products, efficient service, cleaned everything up and took it away. What a difference it made in both kitchen and bath.

By far the BEST service & customer care I've experienced in a long time. We had a minor emergency last Saturday. When we called & shared our emergency with no question the owners came out within 90 mins. Mind you, it's a SATURDAY! We have a house full. We have 3 adults 2 small children & using the restroom and along with running water is a must. Jeff not only educated us on our house piping but HOW to prevent backups in the future After taking care of the issue Jeff explained things in terms I understood (which is not always easy) and reassured us if we had any questions or any further problems to call him and he would take care of us.
Jeff & his wife are wonderful! Polite, puntual, friendly and full of smiles.

Let me start by saying 5 star service for Derek, who did a great job and had wonderful people skills. 1 star to Jeff for being rude. Jeff came out to bid the job and the total came out to more than double. When I called for clarification he was rude and it became a game of he said she said. Clearly there was a miscommunication, but he blamed me for everything and called me disgruntled. It was completely unnecessary and I never lost my calm. I had already paid in full and didn't call asking for money back. I have additional plumbing needs that I was wanting to hire them for because I really liked Derek and appreciated the quality of his work, but no thanks. I don't write review unless it's raving or bad enough others should know.

We were having issues with fluctuating water pressure for a couple months so I called 49er. They were able to come by the next day and resolve the issue in just over an hour for a totally reasonable price. I'd definitely recommend them.

We had a failing hot water tank and decided to replace it with a tankless unit.  We interviewed several plumbers, and we selected 49er Plumbing.  The owner, Jeff, demonstrated outstanding knowledge of natural gas tankless technology.  He said that he and his employees were factory trained and very experienced with Navien, the unit we selected, and it showed during the installation.  Once Jeff and his employees had completed the project, he took the time to answer all of our questions.  Jeff's wife, Shannon, who runs their office operation, was a pleasure to work with.  Simply put, our experience is that Jeff is an honest, hardworking, highly knowledgable, and reliable plumbing contractor who employs people with his values for top-quality work and excellent customer service.  And we are now enjoying endless hot water!

This was a shot in the dark that was well worth it. I was switching from a conventional water heater (in my attic) to a tankless water heater. Sierra Plumbing told me there were few plumbers in the area that were able to install these and they gave me a short list. 49Er called me back first.
The guys were great. Once I got the estimate and approved it, they came out and installed it with no problems. They were polite, listened to my concerns and cleaned up afterwards. All was done within one day!

I got a Navien tankless water heater, by the way, and I love it. Because I liked the company so much I didn't bother with getting other bids so I can't tell you if one of the other plumbers would have been cheaper.

This is a very belated review of an install Jeff and company did for me, January 2018. The good thing about waiting this long, though, is that everything Jeff did (installed 4 Rinnai heaters) was well done and they're working great and I couldn't be more pleased. He and his crew were very thorough in installing the gas lines, the heaters, and making sure everything was working right and, in fact, did come back to trouble shoot an issue with a thermostat that needed a modification and that was a great solution as well.

Ive had 49ers out twice. in the last year.  The first time, I had various pipes that were dripping into the basement.  The second time to add a gas tap for my generator.

Both times they came out quickly and fixed my problem same day.  Pricing was fair.  Very easy to deal with. I will call them for any future plumbing.

I have owned and operated numerous properties in the Bay Area and Nevada County.  I recently had the pleasure of working with Jeff, owner of 49er Plumbing and Drain Service, based in Grass Valley.  I found his work superb, very appropriate for my challenging situations and quite competitively priced.  Importantly, not only was he always on time, but his dispatcher called to see if he could be early for a service call -- first time that's ever happened to me!

In short, you can't do better than Jeff for plumbing needs in Nevada County.

If there were 6 stars I'd give that recommendation for Jeff of 49er Plumbing. He installed a Navian instant water heater and fixed a shower problem for us. His confidence, knowledge and professionalism was a breath to know that the job was done correctly. I'd highly recommend him to anyone with any plumbing needs and his knowledge of the the Navien product was exemplified in his work. He has a pleasant demeanor and will definitely call on him again with any plumbing needs.

Derek came out to fix our kitchen faucet and bath tub drain. Not only is he extremely professional and punctual but he is very knowledgeable, patient and friendly. I cannot recommend Derek and 49er Plumbing enough!

These guys are amazing. They always show up on time and are there for you to do a great service no matter what the job is. Jeff and his staff are very knowledgeable and energetic, so you can be rest assured everything will be of  quality and within your timeline.

We just moved here and needed a plumber for our tankless water heater. It was working intermittently. I called jeff, the owner, and he came out Friday. He did some cleaning and adjusting and advised us to watch for error codes. His fee was very reasonable and he was very personable, timely and professional. Over the weekend it did act up again and we got the error code. On Monday I called Jeff back and he was at our place a few hours later. He spent considerable time troubleshooting the problem, fixed it, and did not charge us anything. He was so honest, something I'm not used to I guess. He also gave us advice on another issue instead of trying to make more money from it. Where I come from that probably would have been another story. I am proud to say he is our plumber.

These folks are awesome! Our water heater was failing and they had it replaced within 24 hours of my call. Worker Derek was prompt, polite, communicated well, neat work habits. Owner Jeff and his wife are very responsible and pleasant. I'm 100% satisfied and will definitely use them again should the need arise.

Had an under-the-house sewer drain problem which caused an in-the-house overflow problem.  In the 49er office, Shannon promised a first available service date and called back within hours to tell me that Derek was on his way.  To merely state that Derek was polite, smart, articulate and well-prepared . . . that would be an understatement.  In little over 90 minutes he diagnosed the situation and repaired the problem.  The man is a true professional.  And 49er Plumbing is my ONLY plumber from now on.

I have used 49er Plumbing for several small plumbing jobs.  They did excellent work and were reasonable.  The only complaint I have is that I tried to get them back out for a maintenance issue they recommended and was rescheduled twice before I gave up on that job.  I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

I read the Yelp reviews and thought they would be a company that would figure out how to sustain the pilot light on my water heater as I would have to relight it every two weeks-WAS I WRONG!
The gal who answered the phone was pleasant.  She took down the water heater information and scheduled an appointment for the tech to come to my house. The appointment was made far enough in advanced so they could order the probable parts related to the pilot light. The appointment was scheduled on October 2  between 9am -10am.  
While I waited and waited for the tech, I had to keep calling the office to find out the ETA. They were having trouble locating the tech and was told the owner was going look for him at the site. At 12:30pm Derek, the tech, called and said he was on his way and arrived at 1pm. Derek was pleasant, amiable, and just a nice guy. I became very concerned when he shared he had never seen the type of yellow build up on the gas water heater burner and didn't know what it was. He also shared that after touching the thermocouple it would no longer work. Well, I called a plumber friend in Nebraska who laughed and said it was not true.
I was also misinformed on a few other items and google disproved what I was being told. I truly believe it was not Derek's intention to misinform me, I believe it comes from whoever trained him. I called the plumbing company and spoke with Jeff the owner.  I tried to eloquently explain my concerns. He was outrageously rude, brought condescending to a whole new level, and I fervently believe apologies and understanding a situation do not exist in his universe. The conversation concluded with a good luck finding someone to work on your water heater because we are done.  I have NEVER been treated so poorly- I'm amazed at how he even stays in business!

Shannon was a doll! She was so pleasant and helped me when no other local plumbing company would! Happy to see that they had a coupon on their website for first-time customers which really came in handy because I am on a fixed income in an over 55 mobile home park. Derek, obviously raised to be a polite young man, showed up a few hours later with a smile and got right to work. Derek was super friendly, highly skilled, and went above and beyond. Got the sink clog unclogged in less than an hour! I could not be more thrilled! 49er Plumbing & Drain will be my Go-To from this day forward!

Jeff and his team are the best! Been working with them for over a year now and they always show up on time, do a perfect job and are reasonably priced. They installed a tankless water heater, ran water to my shop and a few other smaller jobs.

Joel came out right on schedule to put in new hot/cold valves for our washing machine. He had to cut out some sheet rock but did the work efficiently and cleaned everything up afterwards. No go. Put in a lower-grade less expensive model of on-demand heater because I neglected to ask them for a quote in writing. An associated said one type, but the owner put in the cheaper model.
On another job on a simple sink leak, it continued to leak after they fixed it and they wanted to charge me to look at it again! Ans when it leaked a 3rd time, they said they didn't want my business anymore.
