We just had Patrick from Fixer here to do some electrical work. He was great.
Polite, efficient, he wore a mask (which we requested) and did a beautiful job on our new light fixtures. ll
He does other work, too, such as painting, dry wall, etc.
We will request him in all future FIxer calls.

This is my 3rd time giving Fixer a try. I haven't been overly impressed before- but generally they are responsive and fast, so I decided to give them a try again. I own a salon in Lincoln Park, and I needed some lightbulbs and track light heads replaced. The ceilings are quite high, otherwise I would DIY- but I don't have a ladder that tall. So I requested Fixer to come.
After they arrived (they sent 2 people) I was given a quote of 2.5-4 hours. Well, lucky me- they actually finished in 1.5 hours! (Approximately 40 minutes of that was shopping at the Home Depot 2 blocks away). Imagine my shock when I received the bill, and was billed for 3.5 hours of labor PLUS an additional 40 minutes of shopping!
The support I received over email is laughable, and as other people mentioned- when you call you get no answer. I was told that there was an extra charge because there were 2 fixers (ok, fine- but I wasn't informed of this prior to the appointment). Also- I simple do not understand why I'm being charged for EXTRA TIME when the appointment just didn't take that long. I have text messages to back this up, and shared it with the person via email. Then their reply was We're going to give you a COURTESY refund of half an hour. Excuse me, but inaccurately charging me for more time than the appointment took and only giving me a quarter of the payment back isn't a courtesy- it's fraud.

Update: Fixer did reach out to me and try to remedy the situation, and I was refunded for an additional hour of time. Please be aware that they are charging their hourly rate AS WELL AS an additional shopping hourly rate. So you're basically getting double charged to have them go to Home Depot. Try to have the items you need to complete the task to avoid this charge. And also- if they send 2 Fixers- refuse! There is no reason to pay DOUBLE the hourly rate (yes, $278/hour!) for a very simple.

I found Fixer by searching Yelp reviews of local contracting companies. Overall, I would say my experience wasn't terrible, but I left underwhelmed with the experience.

I had a pesky window frame that needed to be repaired and I was struggling to find someone who could help within a reasonable timeframe. I chose Fixer because the reviews seemed fairly consistent and they seemed to have the most availability.

When it came to scheduling, they have options that say you can request a timeframe of 6-7 CST on weekdays, but then you get a text from their system saying they typically only book 7AM-3PM. Their 6-7 CST appointments was a factor that led me to choose them for services. I found out later that on rare occasions there can be some appointments that fill that time slot (as well as weekends). I wound up choosing the earliest available appointment window of 7AM-8AM where a worker would arrive. Come to the day of the appointment, I get a text saying the worker Miguel was on their way at 7:03AM. Come 7:45AM, still no update and I started calling/texting the numbers that had communicated with me. They knew that Miguel was not coming and had not communicated this issue with me until I started texting. It was very frustrating that they knew he was not coming, yet they did not communicate this issue to me earlier.

They sent another worker (named Beck) out at 8:08AM and Beck did show within 20 minutes of this time. The window frame fix took less than 20 minutes. So I suggest that if you book them, try to have a few tasks in mind that they could work on because they charge a minimum of an hour (and the cost was expensive). Admittedly, I didn't know how long the window fix would take so I didn't think having additional tasks through very well. Beck was polite and kind when I spoke about my issues and suggested I reach out to management. Beck also said this issue has happened with appointments scheduled with Miguel before.

About an hour later, a manager named Jayme reached out to me and informed me that they have an automated text that goes out the morning/time of your appointment that says a driver was leaving. They are aware of that if a driver calls off, the message still goes out. Jayme was apologetic and gave me a discount for the issue I experienced. However, I was really disappointed that they knew about this automatic text issue and did not reach out to me when they knew Miguel would not be able to keep the appointment.

Overall, I get that issues happen. The company owned up to their mistakes and remedied the best they could. Truly appreciate that. Given the experience, I think I am going to try a few other contracting companies. I'm not going to rule Fixer out completely, but I felt the pricing was truly a bit steep unless you have a few things for them to fix within the hour. Beck's quality did hold up for the service, but the scheduling and timing issues have deterred me from keeping Fixer as a go-to contractor.

Truly a garbage company.

You would think that a company offering repair services at a set price per hour and easy scheduling would be a dream come true. Absolutely not. I booked Fixer to do multiple repairs on my home as I recently moved to another state and was preparing my home for a new tenant. The Fixer that was assigned to my home was: 1) awful at communication to my property manager 2) bypassed nearby hardware stores and took over an hour to shop which cost me $140 alone. 3) I had to cancel the other jobs I scheduled because at the rate he was going the 1-2 hr estimation jumped to 5-6 hrs which would've cost more than originally planned 4) the contractor disclosed to my property manager that he was unlicensed (Fixer advertises on their website that contractors were licensed) 5) Didn't even finish the 1 job he had before he left.

I was charged nearly $440 for unfinished work for 1 job. It wasn't until I reached out to Fixer via email to figure what actually happened since it wasn't communicated. They explained to me that it was actually a two-day job and the Fixer would have to return. When were they going to tell me that? And I booked this service on that particular day for a reason because of the limited availability to have someone on-site for hours while we're not there. They gave me two options after I expressed my dissatisfaction and frustration: 1) they'll charge me a prorated rate for the unfinished work or 2) they'll come back at another time to finish the work and I won't be charged for the 2nd day which I really didn't have a choice but to choose. I couldn't leave the work unfinished or I'd have to find and pay someone else to finish their trash work on top of paying Fixer.

The only ways to speak with this company is via text or email. If you call the number they ask you to text, it only gives you an option to leave a message and never an opportunity to speak to a representative. The customer service is truly ridiculous. Finally, when I could have someone on-site for a full day, I went to schedule a time to have the work completed and was told I had to pay the full amount prior to having a Fixer return to finish what they originally left undone! They are scheduled to come in a few weeks and I pray to God that my experience isn't as awful as the first.

Maybe my experience was an one-off but I would never ever utilize this company's services again after this job is complete. Ever.

I just used Fixer for the first time to have 6 new smoke detectors installed, 3 a/c window units installed as well as replacing a single-cylinder deadbolt. When the workman, Joe, arrived and realized there would perhaps not be enough time to finish the job, he immediately found another worker, Michael, who arrived quickly. They were both really professional, polite and efficient. Much appreciated!

I have used Fixer twice for various jobs around my new home. I had two Fixers come each time, and each time I found the Fixers to be easygoing and pleasant to work with. However, I have found the work quality to be hit or miss (I had to have a job done by the first set of Fixers re-done by the second set of Fixers) and I struggle with the business model. Because they charge by the hour, there doesn't always seem to be a real incentive to work quickly. The second go-round, I was initially charged over $900 for, essentially, hanging towel bars, hanging pictures, and installing several plant hooks in the ceiling.

Second, most things are automated and you have to be careful about the billing process. The first time I used them I was sent a bill for a service that wasn't performed because the Fixers were running behind and ended up not being able to do the work that day. Still, I received a bill. The second time, I received a bill that was not adjusted for the picture frame one of my Fixers inadvertently broke after she hung it incorrectly. Both times, the issues were resolved after I emailed and texted with the company (phone calls don't even seem to be an option), but if I'd had a credit card on file, I assume I would have just been charged automatically, and I had to be proactive about addressing problems that weren't of my making.

I appreciate the convenience of the service and I'm willing to pay a bit more for a company that pays its people well--assuming that's what it does. But between the excessive expense and the various issues I've had with billing, workmanship, and timeliness, there won't be a third try for me. Good luck ya'll.

Our Fixer technician was wonderful. Anya was on time, very professional and knowledgeable. He kept us informed throughout all the projects, kept track of the time, and checked with us when he knew it would go over the original estimate by 15 minutes. we have never worked with such a great handyman and loved the limited and timely messages from the company before and after the job was done. Highly recommended!!

They cancelled twice in one day via text after the scheduled arrival time, wasting my day off from work. The finally showed up on the 3rd scheduled time, did a pretty good job on the door install, after they left I noticed the randomly screwed a glide into the floor. The glide was supposed to go under the door to keep it in place per the instructions. They decided it would be good to place it in the door opening where you can easily stub your toe. Now I need to remove it and figure out how to patch the holes that they drilled into the floor.

Handyman sent to install two faucets and replace two shut off valves ended up creating two plumbing leaks. I had to hire another plumber and it cost $2k to fix. Professional plumber noted the person created code violations as well. Handyman had also sent unprofessional texts. Would not use again after this experience or recommend.

Torch was very helpful and communicative of what needed to happen. Very easy going and professional. He completed the task of removing water damaged baseboards, purchasing new material n replacing them. Torch did great quality work and cleaned up before leaving. I would definitely use them again.

Note: I have put the same below review on Google a week back, they responded in the comments that they will review my appointments but no one has reached out to me so far to understand why they provided such a bad service. Probably this is their business model, if they do a bad job then just ignore that customer and their review and just move on.
I have have used fixer in two of my houses and had the same issue with both these places
1. At one house I wanted sink faucet to be replaced.
2. At another house wanted deadbolt to be replaced.

Let
me tell each case in detail
1. At place 1 kitchen faucet was leaking and the issue was with the facuet pipe wire, and the fixer went and brought a replacement, while keeping the shopping clock run. Guess what, he brought a wrong pipe, and he could not fix it. And I was charged the whole amount for 1 hour of work plus shopping time, while the issue was not fixed. While I passed it off and left without complaining.
2. I booked them again for my another house to replace deadbolts in my door. Guess what, the fixer brought the wrong product and spent lot of time fixing that wrong deadbolt on my door, while I was charged for the time and also for shopping. Since he could not fix it, he came the next day with another fixer and fixed it. Again I was charged for the next days hourly effort.

This time I complained because it costed me almost 400$ (excluding the cost of the deadbolts) to get the deadbolts replaced.
I have never had such expensive deadbolt replacements in my life, I had to argue with them to get the price reduced, and they gave me a paltry 25$ to 35$ discount.

Pathetic way to bleed customers money. I would not recommend fixer to anyone. And BEWARE new/existing customers, if they bring wrong products, talk to them to cancel your entire charge, if not you will end up paying 400$ instead of 139$.

I had a very poor experience with fixer. I needed some non gcfi outlets replaced with gcfi outlets. Fixer said they could do this job, but it was clear that was not the case. I had purchased outlets, which it turned out were too thick for the shallow outlets in my home. This was not the tech's fault at all, however instead of just telling me that he spent two hours attempting to get them to fit. He did install two, one of which does not work and the other one is gaping out from the wall. I had bought a multi pack of outlets which I now can't return because two are used. I now have to pay an electrician to fix the messed up outlets in addition to installing the others. Fixer did reduce my bill, but given I got nothing out of it and also can't return the box of outlets essentially it cost me a few hundred dollars for nothing.

Update:
An actual electrician confirmed one of the two outlets actually installed was done improperly causing the outlet not to work.

My overall experience of getting some small drywall repairs +texturing had some bumps. Drywall texturing might be a bit more specialized/dependent on local experience than other handyman type jobs. After an initial drywall fix fell short of agreed scope, fixer had a follow-up worker come by to make a more reasonable match of the texturing, at their expense.

Pros:
-Responsiveness on Communication - The service was the first to respond for my bid on a drywall job, which was good.

-Availability - If you need a quick/emergency repair for which you aren't handy, this may be a good option. Seattle tradespeople aren't always super-available - Fixer has recently been bringing in some folks temporarily from Chicago to help bolster their team here.

-Friendly Attitude - All the fixer staff I have interacted with have been friendly/polite.

Cons:
-Expertise - Fixer's workers are generalists, who have a stock set of tools, but do not specialize in any particular trade. They provide folks with some baseline training, but the company takes jobs for a variety of tasks, meaning folks may not be super well practiced on details of any particular kind of job. E.g. Both of the fixers that came to my place didn't were not particularly experienced with orange-peel drywall texturing(which unfortunately is semi-common in Seattle area condos), as opposed to Flat drywall.

-Pricing model/Warranty - Look on their website to make sure you understand their model. Normally, Fixer charges an hourly rate. In my case, the work took longer than quoted due to questionable assumptions an initial worker made. Fixer did reach out with me to try improve on the key issues with the flawed repair at their expense which helped, but I don't take that as a guaranteed thing.

-Scheduling/Timeframe- My appointments got cancelled/postponed at least a couple times due to earlier jobs running over. I believe they offered a $25 credit for future work with each of those cancellations.

My experience:
Initially - I had a drywall repair and texture matching job to replace a number of holes cut by an electrician. The initial fixer decently repaired most of the patches themselves, but one large square section at eye level had an obvious recess of 1/4 inch from the surrounding wall, which he thought was fine. When I brought up the problem, he commented the electrician should have shimmed the drywall out. The screws for the patch which the fixer was hired to repair were accessible when he started.

He spent time applying a veiny sponge effect, where my walls have a orange peel texture which is sprayed on. It didn't make for a good match. My reason for bidding this work out, rather than attempting it myself was I wanted someone who could make repairs that would blend in well.

After I shared my feedback, fixer reached out afterwards, and we agreed to have another follow come by to try to correct things. The second fellow applied some drywall mud to flatten out a section of visibly recessed drywall, and sanded + applied orange-peel texturing to get a less obvious contrast between the textures.

To sum up:
A lot of work the fixer company does makes sense for generalists/handymen to take on. In my view, the textured drywall repairs requires experience and attention to detail to recognize potential issues early, and a practiced hand to do quality work. Some fixers might have good background for doing this kind of work on first attempt, but I think it's a roll of the dice.

I have used Fixer for various handyman tasks - hanging a heavy mirror on a plaster wall, changing out a tricky light fixture, and removing old tile and drywall in a bathroom. Every Fixer I've had was on-time, super friendly, and made sure to clean up well afterwards. If you need basic work done, either because it's an awkward job, messy, or you just don't feel like watching YouTube to figure it out, Fixer is an easy solution.

As a condo owner, I also appreciate that they are bonded and insured.

I had a second great experience with Fixer today. The first was over the summer, when Nathan repaired bathroom vanity lights, and he was amazing. Today Angel spent some quality time at my shoebox palace condo here in the city. He was right on time, got through my entire list, was knowledgeable, organized, and professional, and provided guidance on the RIGHT parts I should buy so he can come back and finish up two final projects. Really impressed with him and his work, and I find booking and interacting with Fixer, their Concierge team, the text alerts, payment process all really simple and easy. Thanks!

I've used Fixer to work on a couple of things around my house and they've been fine with basic handyman work. However, my most recent experience has been a nightmare that I have to share with the community.

I had a porch swing that needed to be rehung. I asked before booking Fixer if this was within their scope and they said that it was. The handyman they sent was clearly in over his head, unable to complete the task, and actually ended up causing damage to my porch roof. When I asked Fixer to evaluate the damage and work on a solution, they sent another handyman out to simply rehang the swing instead of evaluating the damage caused by the previous staff member.

After I sent Fixer photos of the damage, they insisted that the damage was already there or caused by someone else and not their employee. This is a common tactic from companies that frankly aren't trustworthy and I was surprised they responded this way. As a return customer, I was disappointed by the lack of accountability from Fixer. Unfortunately, when something goes wrong with their work, Fixer will refuse to take responsibility and leave you holding the bag for repairing damage their employees caused. Please look for other handyman services and avoid this company.

I'll start with the pros - these guys had availability to help with fixing up our apartment amidst a national labor shortage. The availability of services was also great, and finally, the quality of the work was commendable. Very well-done, no complaints whatsoever.

And the reasons why I would urge you to take your business elsewhere:

1) The company definitely has a startup vibe and as a result, we couldn't get anyone on the phone. After multiple attempts. I tried texting the # they have on the website and no response (who texts about important stuff anyway).

2) We were WAY OVERCHARGED for some simple services. Replacing a toilet handle + replacing several outlet covers (wall plates) costs...guess how much? $200? $500? Try $1,100.

I needed an old thermostat removed and the wall patched and repaired. Fixer responded to my inquiry immediately and I found numerous available slots.

I scheduled for 9am on a Saturday and my fixer showed up right on time. He was very fast and completed the job in less than an hour. The finish on the patch was completely smooth and I was able to easily complete the touch up painting on my own 24 hours later.

Looks great! I'll definitely use Fixer again for my next small job.

The Fixer sent Jeff to look at and assess replacement of an access door in my condo.Once there, I asked him to assemble a box spring and hang my TV . I was out of town when the work was performed. Jeff came as promised and contacted me. He was a clear communicator, accessed the price and completed the job. He texted the finish photos.
They have a user friendly web sight where you can see the details of your job and pay your Bill. They charge 119. Per hour. If you have them out only to assess the job, it is 119. If you use them , the money goes towards completion of the job.
I would definitely use them again, prompt, friendly and professional.

Had several small jobs I needed completed, two of which I was uncomfortable tackling myself. Fixer was extremely responsive. They had a higher base rate, but didn't charge for parking and materials they didn't end up having to use. They ended up being cheaper than some of the other estimates. Satisfied with the work of all jobs completed, if I had a note it would be to make sure all their repair people have booties or other acceptable alternatives to working indoors. Bare feet or dirty boots are not really appreciated when all the work is indoors.

My mother is 88 yrs old. She fell on the floor a couple of weeks ago. The fire department had to pry the security door open. My sister and I was trying to find someone who would repair the door at a reasonable price. When you're most vulnerable, that's when price gouging occurs. We had a couple of companies quote prices and the time it would take to complete the job. I texted the picture of the door over to The Fixer and was very pleased with their prompt response. The Fixer(s) Angel R & Anthony J completed the job within 30 mins and the price very reasonable! My Mom stated they were very nice, courteous and professional. Needless to say, The Fixer will be my go to company when I need repairs done at my home. You can trust The Fixer to get the job done! Thank you Angel R and Anthony J for a job well done!!

Good experience with this team! First, i don't think you'll find a more integrated user experience when chatting with them. They communicate mostly by text and have a sound internal system to track your conversations and requests.

I called them out to install a custom barn door my farther made for me. My team, Louis M and Toufik B, worked well together. It was a long process to figure out how to install a custom barn door with a rail kit that I ordered, in a 100 year old building. Though there were some tricky issues along the way, these guys found a way to do it!

In one of the last steps, the excess rail needed to be sawed off with a special electric saw. They realized they didn't bring the right tool to finish the job. I appreciated that the teamed turned off the clock to go run to their shop and pick up the tool to make it perfect. We were impressed by what turned out to be a job well done!

Our back door was over extended and was out of alignment the final straw was the sweep at the bottom of the door fell off and I'm the kinda guy that can't put a nail in straight so with the fall quickly approaching I decided to seek help and fixer filled in that blank
the workers arrived on time explaining the work and supplies needed they went to the store to get the parts (per a hourly rate) and had the door aligned and a new sweep installed within two hours it was one thing I can say was done correctly

I had previously used Fixer to rebuild the appliance garage and under sink cabinet in my kitchen. Last Wednesday, I called them to unclog my bathroom sink and in doing so, the plumber broke my sink, rendering it unusable. They did send me a text acknowledging that the plumber admitted breaking it, and they quickly sent me a bill for the service call, so far, they have ghosted me about what they plan to do to replace my sink. Apparently, they will only communicate via text.

I have waited for months to leave this review, thinking that they could remedy the situation. I'll get to the point quickly and say if you need a TV mounted or some other basic task completed, they will do a good job and I like that they pay their workers a fair wage. I'm more than willing to pay extra for that. If you want any specialized work or anything that requires more work than something you could do yourself but you'd rather farm out, DO NOT use Fixer.

The first time I used them, I had a couple of tvs mounted and they did a great job. It did take them a long time and the fee was pretty big. I can't find the invoice but I think it was around $800 or so. Due to the above rationale, I was fine paying the fee.

The second time I used them, I asked that they assemble a standing desk. It took HOURS. The guy couldn't figure out how to adjust the desk after he put it together and wanted to call the job done and leave without adjusting the ADJUSTABLE desk. I figured it out myself (he hadn't put everything back on the desk and this is a non-motorized adjustable desk which requires weight to work).

The third time I used them is the reason that I finally had to write a review. I moved into my house in May and my microwave broke within a few months of me moving here. I realized that the builders had taken a short-cut and instead of installing a drawer microwave, had installed a countertop microwave and put some supports in the cabinet cavity/threw a trim kit on it and called it a day. I explained the situation to Fixer and asked if they could help me. The customer service team replied that they could definitely do that and would send someone over. Upon arrival, the person they sent said he could absolutely not handle this job and that I need a cabinet specialist and then the charged me $129 for the visit, which they eventually removed after I insisted they do so. They then reached out and said they wanted to fix the situation and they said they had found a microwave and someone to install it. Great. I'm always willing to give someone an extra chance. They show up with a microwave... which is broken. So, after I made sure to be home from work/scheduled this way in advance, still no microwave. They were very apologetic so I (again) held off on writing a bad review. They told me customer service would reach out. Days went by... nothing. I reached out to them and they apologized and said that they had ordered a new microwave and would be in touch when it was delivered which was scheduled for January 13th. The 13th came and went and I again reached out to them and they said, oh we have the microwave. We can install it on the 17th (MLK Day). I hesitantly agreed. They arrived today with the non-broken microwave. This time the installers realized right away that the microwave didn't fit the cavity. Keep in mind that they had already been here twice and had measured the cavity. They were so apologetic and it wasn't the actual installation team's fault so I just nodded and let them leave. THEN they charged me $129 for the visit again, which I'm currently asking them to remove.

Overall, I think if you have a quick handy-person job, they do a pretty good job but anything that requires any level of preparation, measurement or skill, I'd recommend going somewhere else.

The fixers were very nice and did a great job. I think pricing is a bit high but then again you can schedule something on a moments notice and that is worth the cost. They guaranteed their work and we're very easy to work with on billing. That is another thing you won't always get if you hire an individual a cheaper price. So their are a lot of pros that come along with the increased pricing. I would recommend highly, unless your on a tight budget. I would definitely hire again.

I booked several services 3 weeks in advance. I gave detail about what needed to be done and all of it was simple stuff(changing batteries etc). I told them I had high ceilings (estimated at 15 feet actually 13). At 7pm on the the night before 9am scheduled visit I got a txt saying we have reviewed and (despite nothing changing since I booked) they would be sending a second fixer at an additional $139//hr. When I texted back they said that since it was 15 ft they had now decided a second person needed to hold the ladder at a cost of $139/hr. I wasn't asked if it was ok. I wasn't asked if the ceiling were really 15 ft( I measured. They aren't) Needless to say I cancelled this service.

I cannot express sincerely enough how disappointed I am in Fixer after having used their service for the last 4 years. The only reason they get two stars is because the actual handy people are pretty great. The shortest version of this story is that due to a complete accident (which wasn't a big deal to me because accidents happen), my shower door broke. It took Fixer 144 DAYS to resolve the issue, during which time I had to hound them relentlessly to actually see any movement. At no point did Fixer seem actively interested in retaining me as a customer in the future or offer me anything beyond fixing the damage caused.

December 30th, I had Kenny out to help me with a few tasks, including replacing a broken seal on my shower door (which had broken again after a previous fixer replaced it months prior). Kenny determined that the door hinge was damaged and needed to be replaced, and informed me that Fixer would order this and send a repair person out to fix it.

By January 21st, I had still not heard from Fixer despite reaching out twice about this issue, and emailed with a complaint. Fixer apologized right away and said my part was ordered and due in February 3rd, and that they'd waive the special order fee and credit me $25 towards my next visit. This was just fine with me.

January 29th, Augustin came out to replace the hinge, at which time we discovered that Fixer had NOT ordered a hinge (as Kenny had outlined in the purchase order, which I saw both at that time and on the 29th) but rather a shower door seal (which was unnecessary as it would just keep breaking until the door was repaired). In an attempt to resolve my issue, Augustin attempted to repair the hinge, and in his attempt the entire door shattered with such force that it chipped the paint on my bathroom door and walls. This wasn't the issue; mistakes happen.

It took until March 1st for Fixer to have worked with another company (Ardmore Glass) to get my door replaced. They scheduled a visit for March 2nd. Nobody arrived. I was told there had been a mistake and Ardmore would be coming on the 9th. They came and determined they'd need to replace the entire shower surround, as there was no remaining door hinge. I was told by Fixer on March 28th that Ardmore expected to receive my new frame that week and that I could expect glass to be installed 7-10 days later. I said I could be available for install on March 30th, and was told the surround hadnt arrived yet and they'd let me know when it did. I heard nothing from Fixer until I reached out again on April 6th and was told on the 7th that my frame had 'finally' arrived. Weird how that happened the day after I pestered them.

April 15th, Ardmore Glass came out again and took more measurements but installed nothing. May 1st, I reached out to Fixer AGAIN to follow up about the status of my project. May 2nd, I received an apology explaining that Fixer does 'not have a complete process for when elevated issues like this arise' and informing me that they were 'committed to making this right' for me. May 5th, Ardmore came out and installed my shower surround and glass, which I would have thought was the end of this nonsense but nope! Ardmore hadn't put any sort of seal around the glass, meaning that when I used my shower, water poured out all over my bathroom floor. I emailed Fixer yet again on May 10th to inform them of this issue. They offered to send a manager out to take the measurements for a seal and I provided those measurements myself. On May 12th, Fixer then said that because this was installed by Ardmore, it was their responsibility to resolve the leak, and that they could return on Monday, May 16th to fix it. I was unavailable that day and asked if they could come on the 17th instead; I was told Fixer would verify this time with Ardmore and let me know ASAP. At 5pm on the 16th, I had to reach out to Fixer to see if there had been an update from Ardmore, and I was told 'we would need to check back in with them. At this point we think it may be better to aim for 9am on Wednesday or Thursday.' I said either would work.

The final and most completely ridiculous element was that then, the NEXT MORNING, Tuesday the 17th (when I had originally offered my availability and been told the above nonsense about needing to check back in with them) I received a text from Fixer at 8:47am that read Hi Theresa- we're terribly sorry for the confusion. Ardmore is scheduled for Tuesday morning-we just heard back from them. If that still works for you, they will give you a call when they are on their way. I was given THIRTEEN MINUTES NOTICE of an appointment.

Even attempting to cancel my Care & Protect membership, a service about which I had been really excited when it launched, was a joke. I received an email response that only read 'd' from the manager I'd been corresponding with on the 17th of May. It took until TODAY, the 23rd of May, to get an email back confirming my membership was cancelled. What a mess.

We hired Fixer for a laundry list of repairs needed around our condo. Scheduling is easy, everything was online and we were able to quickly detail the work we needed done and scheduled a time. Someone was out in the next couple of days. The workers that showed up were friendly, knowledgeable and did a great job. We had an absolutely horrible experience with fixer a little over a year ago, and it's STILL causing issues today.

We had someone come install a ceiling fan, and they messed up the fan, and our bathroom lights. It had to be fixed, and then the ceiling had to be repaired. We used fixer for the repair as well because they offered the help without an extra cost, but we are still having issues with our lights. It cost us a lot more money to have it done incorrectly than it would have if we had hired someone with more experience right from the start.

We have an electrician working on it now, since the bathroom lights went out again, and he said our fan is extremely dangerous. He said it wasn't installed properly at all and could fall down at any moment.

Fixer is great if you need someone to come to your home to make repairs. I highly recommend this service for first time home owners. You can actually book service through the website which is extremely accessible. Personally, I know nothing about plumbing which is why I needed to use Fixer. They also offer other services besides just repairs. For example, they do painting and will assemble any furniture.

Fixer is more then just a handyman service it feels like a family member is stopping by to help you with your new place or help you with any project you might have. Something to keep in mind is that you pay online so you don't have to worry about running to the ATM for cash before they arrive.

I tried Fixer for the first time and can't recommend it. The two guys were super nice and professional but the quality is bad. They installed two doors, an electrical outlet, and repaired an outlet. The pictures speak for themselves, this level of quality was not worth anywhere near the $1000 I paid.

Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience with Fixer recently. I hired them to install my kitchen backsplash because I saw the reviews on here, as well as one from a friend of mine that personally used them for tile work. I provided them with pictures of the work that needed to be done, advised them that I had a wet saw and all tools and products needed to complete the job, just needed someone with the expertise to do it.

I was quoted 3-4 hrs for the backsplash installation, with 1-2 hrs for putting in the grout. I opted out of them applying the grout and decided to do that myself once they were finished. I was tight on cash and Fixer provided the best quote, so I went with them.

On 10/23, the fixer showed up on time and ready to work. I gave him three options to set up the wet saw. He decided to use our garage. He got to work, and 3 hrs in he still hadn't had any tile on the wall. I asked him if this would take longer than the 3-4 hours I was quoted and he told me he thought I knew it was going to take longer and the dispatch should have told me. I told him to stop working because I wasn't prepared to pay for more time. He said it would take more than double of what they quoted me to finish.

I spoke with the manager John who said he would look at the transcript and see if was an error in their side. He called me back and told me it was and that they would finish the job for the amount quoted. I was satisfied with this, so I told the Fixer to continue, even let him speak to the manager John to confirm.

There are multiple tiles without spacers, which make each tile visibly uneven. Some of the cuts made on the tile are even visible when the covers for the outlets are on. The entire run above the stove isn't level and they used unnecessary tile behind the stove, even though I provided a piece of wood to hold the tile up so we wouldn't have to waste any tile. There was also mortar left on multiple tiles as well as the wall, where no tile was laid. The mortar for the tile is be dry by now, and it doesn't seem like anything can be taken off, so it will have to be chipped off or something.

Overall this experience has been terrible. Not only was I quoted incorrectly, but I am out 400 dollars for the time I was willing to pay for, and I am out on the tiles used that will have to be taken off due to poor installation.

Everything about working with Fixer was easy and quick! I reached out on a Wednesday to see if they could help hang some floating shelves that I had installed poorly. Within a few hours I was contacted with a quote and some dates (within 48 hours) they could come complete my project. Although there was a 2-hour window for my project, Ricordo arrived promptly at 4:00 and got started right away. I'm not sure it took him even an hour to fix my shelves. These shelves are incredibly sturdy now (and they look great)! I will definitely be calling Fixer the next time I have a home project.

Called to have toilet fixed because won't stop filling...repair man showed up, BO stunk my entire house up...tells me the filler needs to be replaced and it's a 10min repair...doesn't have parts and wants me to pay $75 an hour for him to drive to two stores and back for material. Costs me more for him to drive around than a 10 minute repair.

Generally, they are overpriced. But the biggest problem is their expanding into new markets when they are completely understaffed. I'm in the Seattle market and scheduled a follow up appointment to an original appointment 2 months ago. I get confirmed for the appointment and wait three weeks. The fixer arrives and tells me he doesn't have the time to complete the job today. They try to reschedule me and tell me the earliest is two weeks out. Why did they incorrectly estimate the time it would take to do the job and only find out the day of the appointment? Why did they not reschedule me right away when I booked three weeks ago? Why do they not try to rebook me ASAP as I'm waiting on them to complete a job I originally scheduled almost 2 months ago? Taking my business elsewhere.

I've had a number of positive past experiences with Fixer, but this last one did not sit well with me. The team - a fixer and a trainee - took two hours for a 2x 1:1 pendant light swap, and mere minutes after they left I realized they caused another light not to work. I reached out to try and get someone to come back out that day, but no go, so the next day (and some dark cooking) had to suffice. I spoke with the concierge and asked them to, in addition to the person coming to fix the issue the following day, have the manager call me, as I had an issue with how long it took, and the clear slowdowns caused as part of the training process. I don't mind my place being used for training - we all have been there - but not on my dime. Although the issue was fixed the next day and was related to the work that was done by the Fixer team, and I was credited for some of the time taken by the trainee, my request for a manager callback went ignored. Not sure why that is, but since the manager doesn't want to hear my feedback on the experience and the billing situation caused by the trainee, I'll provide it here.

The second time, he was unable to solve my problem SO DID NOT CHARGE ME!! The third time, Patrick completed two tasks--carpentry and installation of a garbage disposal--in just a little over an hour. My experience with this business was literally the worst experience I have ever had with a vendor or contractor.

My initial issue was needing to replace a faucet cartridge on my tub to adjust the water which was estimated to take 1 to 1.5 hours. The tech that came out was on the phone the whole time w/ John P. (he refused to give me his full name but I saw it on the caller ID) the lead trainer. It was clear she was struggling with the job. I would have been ok w/ her saying that she couldn't complete the job and I would have paid her for her time. Instead, I got an update on the app saying that the time estimate to complete the job changed from 1 to 1.5 to 4 to 5 hours. I hadn't planned on it taking that long and had to return to work as I had to take time off yesterday (and most of the next day) to be home to deal w/ this. She left after two hours without replacing or repairing the cartridge and reinstalled the faucet backwards so that the hot / cold lever was on the wrong side. I then immediately got a bill for $250 w/ the faucet installed incorrectly and the original issue unaddressed.

Later I noticed that the bathroom directly below the one where the tech was was now soaked in water. I notified Fixer of this as well as the original issue not being resolved and the faucet being installed backwards, and a second team came to try to fix what the first tech had done. They said there was now a leak in the wall behind the faucet that the tech had worked on and turned the water off. They called John P. He said he couldn't do anything and I would have to call customer service. I repeatedly asked for a contact (name and number) of someone at Fixer to help me resolve the issue. He would not provide it nor would he provide his own name or contact number, though I saw his first name and initial of last name on the tech's phone. I could hear when he was talking to the tech saying I'm sorry you have to deal with this @#$$ referring to me! At no time did he ever apologize to me for anything that happened or give any other suggestions about how to fix the issue they had caused other than tell me I had to call customer service.
I did get a call from a customer service rep who said they could perhaps turn it into their insurer but that would take a long time. Her attempt to solve the problem was to provide some referrals for a plumber at my expense to correct an issue they caused. When I insisted that someone who could resolved the issue be sent today since at this point I don't have any water rather than having a plumber come out they sent a 3rd Fixer team. After a couple of hours, they said they couldn't fix it. The customer service rep said that if their team could not address the issue she would have a plumber come out. That didn't happen.

After three visits from Fixer I still didn't have the original, quite simple issue addressed, had no water at all and a leak in my walls!
After it became clear they would not adequately address the issue, I called a plumber. He identified the source of the leak in about 5 minutes and cleaned the cartridge which corrected the issue that I had called Fixer about in the first place. Unfortunately, this resulted in a significant bill that I now had to pay, as well as additional tiling work around the tub faucet which he had to rip out to repair the leak. I haven't even looked into the possible damage in the walls yet from the leak.

At every turn, this company could have resolved this issue and for some reason chose not to. I really wanted to like this company as it appears they are very pro LGBTQ and employ quite a few women at their company which is atypical in my experience. What a disappointing, demoralizing experience.

Suddenly the owner just replied: due to a previous fixer visit, we can't provide you services at time or in the future. I was very confused, as I never used them before. It took 2 techs to visit and hang 3 pendant lights and run a new outlet, WTF? Twice the estimated time and overv$1,000!
I asked that the first tech return, but no and the second guy spent 2 hours troubleshooting the problem.

Ive used Fixer 3 times now and each time the people they send are top quality individuals. Experts at their crafts and professional as they come. This SHINING review was spurred by Charles J and Wylie M coming out to replace my door. These dudes were amazingly cool! They shared my very laid back personality, but, were also swift with their supply shopping and installation. I cant rave enough about them!!!

Of course there will be other reviews on here that will speak to the contrary. But, in my opinion, i unequivocally recommended Fixer for any home repair needs.

These guys are great - friendly, affordable, professional. Highly recommended.

We discovered a leak in a pipe from our kitchen sink on a Sunday, submitted a work request online that evening, and it was fixed on Monday. He had a replacement part on him and we were charged only for the hour visit.

Additionally, Edgar was experienced and professional and was able to fix an issue with our master bathroom faucet within the hour, as well.

The online request form does require that you provide a CC number, and while we did so with trepidation, it all worked out find and indeed made the payment process seamless when the work was completed. They are a very user friendly high tech operation - everything done online or via text.

If we encounter other household repair issues in the future we will certainly consider reusing Fixer.

I've hired thru Fixer twice already, each time involving multiple jobs (including light electrical). In both instances, Fixer was very responsive to my online requests for quotes and schedules. The handy persons sent were extremely professional, friendly and honest. Great work results both times. They skew towards the higher end of rates, but both handy people spoke well of the Company, which says a lot these days. I definitely will use them again and recommend them to others.

Fixer was great!
John showed up on time and did two tasks that I've been needing done for the longest time. John even stayed late to fix an item that the original repair did not work for.
I had two items fixed. The first was a pipe that burst on the roof this past winter that provides water to a hose. The second was a power outlet that hasn't worked on the roof since we purchased the house. Both now are working and should be good to go for the future winter.

The lack of the 5th star is two fold.
1) I first tried to schedule the repair a week or two ago, but my message apparently got lost in their inbox
2) There was a shopping fee that I didn't realize would exist. Looks like the shopping time was not included in the hourly rate which is great, but at first I was surprised to see a per item cost and a shopping fee. $50 is still likely less than what the regular hourly rate would have been.

Overall, I will definitely be using them again and will create a list of things I need done around the house.

Two Fixers, Ishmael and Toufit, came in, did a walk through then got to work. Minor plumbing repairs, little things like adjusting leveler on wire shelving, inserting weather stripping around a/c unit, filling a hole in baseboard. Their attention to detail made the final results look good and work properly. Big thing was spraying in foam insulation. I had safety concerns about this and there was a snag but the Fixers figured out a workaround that got the job done in an acceptable manner. Good job on clean up - a real plus. I've had other Fixers who were not as good.
Loss of a star? I made lots of changes from initial scope of work and the various concierges did not keep up very well. However they were very understanding about my building's rules for having paperwork on file - we got it done, finally. Definitely plan to use again.

I was VERY pleased with the 3 tasks my Fixer completed! He installed a motion doctor light and camera over my garage, installed a lazy Susan in my cupboard and replaced a rubber ring (that lines the door or my clothes washer. I had all the parts on hand, but had no clue how to install them. His work was professional and he worked quickly!! Highly recommend this company!!

The communication from this company is pretty good. We used them for a few projects and 2 out of the 3 times they were on top of it!

I will say, the work was hit or miss. We were impressed by some of it, like dry walling, but painting was spotty. We were trying to sell our house and realtor actually made us have two places repainted after Fixer painted them Not ideal.

Overall, I think it depends on who you get to complete the project. Prices are very reasonable and they have good communication which can be hard to find.

We asked a Fixer first to repair our dishwasher that suddenly stopped draining, and it wasn't clogged. He made some adjustments, showed us what the problem seemed to be so that we would know if it happened again. When he finished, we took him to see a glass shower door that was starting to shift and stick when we tried to open it.

After two trips, the door was fixed. It was a complicated job, and the Fixer who started it, came back when it wasn't quite right.

It was expensive to complete the work, but it was worth it. The shower door was done well and looks good. An earlier attempt to fix that shower door was less than professional.

I scheduled an appointment with Fixer for 4 pm on a Friday. I had to leave work early and drive through Friday traffic to make it on time. At 4:15 I contacted fixer and asked where my fixer was? They apologized and said that my fixer wasn't coming but that they could send another fixer at 5:30. I agreed, but had other errands to run in the meantime which meant I had to hustle through Friday traffic yet again to make it on time for the 5:30 appointment. I got there on time for 5:30.
At about 5:45 I contacted fixer and asked where my fixer was. Fixer told me, for the second time in the same day, that my fixer wasn't coming. Fixer then had the audacity to ask me if I would like to reschedule. This company is completely unreliable and unprofessional.

Made an appointment with Fixers last week to come out today. My appointment was at 2pm. The night before I heard nothing so I reached out to Jayme to find out how the process goes. I didn't know I needed to provide a cell phone number for a confirmation/follow-up(It would've been nice to know this upon scheduling appointment but okay). After setting up an account and entering my payment information, all was set. Today I waited for an hour for someone to show up. I didn't get a text, or call saying what happened. At 3pm I alerted Fixer that no one had shown up and that I was cancelling the appointment. I was no longer interested in the service and wanted my debit card information deleted. At 3:15pm I get a cell message from someone from fixer saying he was at my front door. At this point I am no longer at home and family had to tell him that the appointment was cancelled and that he was suppose to be here at 2pm. The Fixer guy said, oh okay then proceeded to stand on my porch/grass for the next 30-40mins. After noticing he was just there hanging out my sister asked him, if there was a problem? He said, His phone was dying and he needed to call his ride to come back and get him What? your ride? So you just gonna hang out on my lawn? Hire at your own risk kids! This was a wasted day off work and, this is not how I do business! Do better Jayme!!!!

The fixer I had a couple of weeks ago was very professional and value customer's time, although they bill on minute basis. More importantly, the price is absolutely reasonable, without compromising service quality. The company are 2 years old, and does not take anything for granted. I hope they can grow their network fast.

PS: Their main channel to communicate with customers is texting system. Some representative can make a call if requested.

So. I grew up in a home where my dad fixed everything. Literally everything. The struggle of having a handy man in the city is real and we have used Handy and were not thrilled as a lot of larger property management companies use Handy and as a lowly single property home owner you fall lower in priority.

Love how you do all the communication through text and email and app and they showed up on time, were super fair for price and estimated work. SO HAPPY. I'll be using them for everything now. Edgar could not have been nicer if he had tried.

Now I will fix everything in my house whenever it comes up :)

It can be hard to find a good handyman for smaller jobs, and I had a good experience with Fixer. The whole experience was smooth, from filling out the web form to texting with the Fixer team to the guy showing up at my house (on time). I requested quotes from a few places on yelp to replace a gfi outlet in the kitchen and Fixer's estimate was the most reasonable and they were available the soonest which was very much appreciated. The tech arrived on time and was able to complete the job with no issues.

Had a problem with my washing machine overflowing. The guy came (we both wore masks, as required by Fixer thankfully) and was able to identity and fix the problem in under the expected time. Something having to do with hoses and pressure. He unscrewed the front of the washer; had never seen that before. Thankfully I won't need to replace the combined washer/dryer unit quiet yet! Will happily use again next time I need something like this.

Edgar did an amazing job for me. He came through the house, determined the scope of the project, then provided an on the spot estimate (which was very accurate after the fact, something of which I'm always appreciative.).
I couldn't be more pleased with Edgar's work; he knew precisely how to replace my switches with digital equivalents, banged out a couple of faulty outdoor outlets, and even replaced some hard to reach lightbulbs.
I'm pretty picky when it comes to reviews, especially about home repairs. If this is typical of Fixer, be sure I'll be calling them again for my next home repair.

Luis from Fixer unclogged a basement sink and repaired a washer hose leak. Friendly, fast service that was far less expensive than my regular plumber. This is the third time I've hired Fixer for repairs, not only because they're extremely competent but because I like their social mission. I see that now during the pandemic they have video service calls so you don't even have to have someone come to your home, but can still get expert advice.

This second time especially, one of the fixers formerly built houses and his knowledge showed as he gave me some valuable advice on another project. This is the handyman service we've been missing in our lives!

Our toilet flooded and we believed it was due to our son flushing a comb down it. I called fixer, and they had Chang and Ismael arrive the same day. In less than an hour Chang was able to diagnose and fix the problem. He knew right away it wasn't due to a clog but that it was a piece in the tank that wasn't holding the water in. They went quickly to the store and got the piece and fixed the issue in under 10 minutes. I highly recommend this company! And Chang and Ismael!

Finally, with a 30 person event happening at my house that night, I submitted a work request with Fixer at 8:00 on a Monday morning. In a little more than an hour, Edgar arrived. $129 down the drain for less than an hour of work having nothing fixed than screwing a door knob back on. Everything else was above their pay grade(!! At $129 an hour!!) or would need more time to fix (and btw instead of recommending a replace they would go at it for more hours and per a true professional their suggested solution not viable long term). Not handy in any sense of the word. Concept is great and convenient in theory. Dispatcher responsive but quality of technicians questionable. Don't count on them fixing the simplest of things otherwise you will be disappointed. Will never use again. Avoid this type of service. They're out to bill their hourly much like attorneys and accountants but with no work quality guarantee. Do not leave your credit card on file as they will charge you automatically and you're in no position to handle a situation where they did not deliver.

I had a really great experience with Fixer - they are an awesome company. Basically they've incorporated the best of mobile booking service with the best of handyman/repair service.

I had a drywall repair and they showed up right on time. Due to the situation specific to my drywall I had two work sessions. Both time, the fixer that came was really professional, knowledgeable and courteous. The first time, D'Angelo came and worked for an hour. The second time, Ian came and spent about two hours finishing up the job. They did great work and cleaned up after themselves. I highly recommend them.

The nice thing about their mobile solution is that you can go online and book a specific time that you want. After you submit the booking, you get a text message and you can text back and forth with their main office about your project. They confirm everything with you. Then the night before your appointment at 8:00pm sharp, you receive an automated text with the name of the professional that will be showing up to your job.

If anything arises, you just text back and forth with the main office. This excellent communication channel made everything so much easier.

And after your job is finished, you get a text with a link to review and pay your bill (and add a tip if you like). Completely mobile. Just the way I like it.

My boss hired Fixer to come do some work around our small school. Kat was awesome! She was efficient, friendly, a clear communicator and really cool. She fixed a bunch of stuff the kids had worn down over time- toilet paper holders, door hinges and installed some shelves, anchored some furniture for safety. The biggest thing she did is what our contractor DIDN'T do: put handles on the cabinet doors and fix some track lighting that HAS NEVER WORKED. We even had an electrician tell me, You are going to have to re-wire, blah, blah, blah but Kat spent twenty minutes on a ladder and they WORK now! Highly recommend!

Issue with fixer is that schedulers and concierge have no idea how long tasks take. My fixer scheduled for 3:30 came at 7:00. They cannot actually give you an accurate time.

Unfortunately the problem with smoke detector was not fixed. Simple issue of battery replacement was too high to reach. He left and one hour later beeping started again. Disappointing experience. So after $94, I have to hire an actual electrician.

Phenomenal experience from start to finish!

Let's start with the booking process - so simple! Everything done online , could easily pick an appointment convenient for us, including going into late evening.

Next, the punctuality - showed up perfectly on schedule (in fact we weren't ready and D'Angelo our Fixer was kind enough to wait).

We had a lot of odd jobs around the house - the most time consuming of which was putting up wallpaper. D'Angelo was clearly experienced, gave a fair estimate of the time and did a phenomenal job.

Finally , settling up was so easy, he set a clock for the time spent doing active work and charge was exactly proportional to time used . Spoke to 3 different handymen and their rate was the most fair and hastle free.

I will request D'Angelo the Fixer anytime we need a hand around the house !

Katie and D'Angelo were total pros. They wore booties to protect my flooring/carpet... they seemed to have every fix-it tool known to man and womankind. Katie even has this intense infrared light leveler that was very cool.

They hung an extremely large mirror over my couch and it looks awesome. It makes the room. And I never could have hung this mirror by myself.

My go-to. We just finished a major renovation of our house, but we had lots of little things that needs attention. I tired Fixer for a simple paint job and leaky sink, and after their professionalism, communication, and work I was impressed. They are also a Public Benefit Corp with apprenticeship and training for their employees. Mission driven too?! Love it.

The process of scheduling through their website is also smooth and another reason why they are my go to. Instead of awkwardly trying to explain over the phone to someone, you get a text confirming the time slot and request for pictures. Based on the pics, you get an estimate of hours. Work gets done, auto-pay like Lyft, drop a tip if you'd like, and done.

Final bonus - they are honest about what they CAN'T do. We had a leak under our tub. The guy inspected it, found the issue, said it's beyond their type of handyman work, and within 10min they texted me referrals to plumbing companies with the right hardware and expertise.

I really appreciate Fixer.com service.

I've had minor repair work that I've noticed living in my home for the past 10 years.. Whenever I'd get the enthusiasm to reach out to any other company on Yelp to request a quote, I'd be met with: That project is too small of a job, so we're not coming out for just that.

I'm glad that I got the whim to check yelp again recently and came upon Fixer.com. They charge hourly, so they don't really care if a job is too little. You just start out by going on the website, creating an account, and then selecting a date/time (it can be the same day even), and then Jayme will respond right away to confirm the appointment.

I had a crumbling wall amongst many other issues in my home. Jayme coordinated for Chang and Katie out to my home today and they did a fantastic job of tackling the problems I had requested to be addressed. They were both very knowledgeable about what they were doing and they did a great job explaining things to me. And I feel like they both had strong integrity, as they would state that they were stopping the clock whenever appropriate so that I wouldn't be charged for any moments where they weren't working.

I really appreciate that a service such as this exists for people who are not confident in repairing small jobs on their own. I'm excited to continue to work with Fixer.com on other projects that I had been thinking about over the past 10 years. I fully believe in them and have the utmost confidence in Katie, Chang, Jayme and the whole team.

I originally went to Angies List to find an electrician for my South Loop townhouse. After submitting information about the scope of work (GFCIs and ceiling fan), several options came through including Fixer.com offering their services.

Fixer.com was 1 of a few with an A rating so I clicked thru to their website. I found their website easy to navigate and was happily surprised to see online web chat. After confirming that they could help me via chat, I was super happy to use the easy scheduling features and get a Saturday appointment. I wish all service companies were this easy to schedule!

Prior to the service call, I liked the collaborative experience including sharing a photo of the issue(s) and receiving an estimate upfront. Fixer.com also heavily uses SMS/Texting to communicate before, during and after the service call. I liked that they support credit card payment, email invoicing and a casual follow-up to make sure everything went well.

If you are looking for a handyman service (including electrical) company, Fixer.com is worth your consideration!

From start to finish, working with Fixer was a great experience. I originally sent a quote request to 6 different companies for replacing a garbage disposal and a toilet. I had already tried un-jamming the garbage disposal and resetting it, but a few of the companies responded that it was probably as simple as a reset switch. I had already gotten past that.

Josh at Fixer was the only person completely upfront about their cost structure for the labor and parts they purchased. Their prices were also very competitive compared to the other companies. Josh also double-checked I would be okay with the garbage disposal as the one I originally wanted wasn't available. He was in constant communication and extremely responsive.

Edgar and Brian came to do the work - they were 15 minutes early and very diligent with their time. They walked me through everything they were doing, ensuring I was comfortable with the work and even helped dispose of the old toilet. They were friendly, polite, knowledgeable, quick and very clean.

I definitely plan on calling Fixer again if I need more work done around my condo. They are very professional and there were absolutely no surprises in the work they did.

I used the Fixer Service for the second time today. The first time I was so happy with my experience that I immediately contacted them after receiving a quote of $500 from another contractor to repair my sink. The Fixers did the exact same thing the contractor said he was going to do in less time for less money. I paid $120 for about 90 minutes. The contractor made it sound like it would be an all day project to scrape the adhesive off my sink and reattach it into place.

The Fixers not only cleaned up the adhesive and reattached it to the granite they also secured it in place with anchors.

I highly recommend checking with them for any repairs you need!

Well unfortunately, I started the process for my tenants and picked a day that worked for all and got notification at noon for a 5 pm appt that they weren't going to make it. So, I had them reach out to my tenants directly and figure out another day and time, which happened to be the next day at 6 pm. On the rescheduled day, they didn't notify us until we reached out and asked if they were coming, to which we were notified that due to a previous appt running over, they weren't able to make it and would have to reschedule... earliest being a Saturday. So, unfortunately, not the guys i'll be reaching out to again.

Fixer is awesome! They sent Katie, a very knowledgable and friendly handy person who could do any job I threw at her, and she got to my house within an hour of my text to Fixer. I initially called because a pipe in our basement was leaking, AFTER different plumber had been here the week before. Katie came to measure, then went to the store to get the appropriate replacement pipe. She came right back and got to work. It's two weeks later now, and it's still as good as new.

She asked if I needed anything else done, and I ticked off a list of things we just hadn't gotten around to doing ourselves. Something was wrong with our gutters, they were overflowing when it rained and causing a big puddle in the corner next to our house. So she cleaned them out and found they were badly clogged. It was a really dirty job.

Then she fixed an old doorknob (original to the house) that we couldn't figure out. I mentioned we had a rip in a screen and she had some replacement screen in her car, so she fixed that too! Lastly, she painted some woodwork that needed a fresh coat.

I was so happy with everything Katie did. She was clearly very capable and fast, cleaned up really well in the areas she had been working, and everything she fixed is perfect. I could have kept here her all week! I will definitely be calling again.

I contacted Fixer about a quote for flipping my master bathroom door (I didn't like the direction it opened, wanted it to open the opposite way). They quoted me WAAAY lower than Fix It People did, and since Fixer generally had good reviews, I went with Fixer. They were great with communication. Carlos R. was my handyman, and he even called me to let me know he was running a little late due to finding parking. When he arrived he was super polite, and put covers over his shoes. He asked me specific questions about how I wanted my door flipped so he would get the job right. I really appreciated that. He did great work, just focused and got the work done in a reasonable amount of time. He cleaned up after himself too. All in all a really great experience for a great price, and I am happy now my door opens the correct way. Thank you so much! :)

We had a terrible experience with Fixer. A little backstory: we wanted to replace our main door, and we went first with a cheap contractor and he did a bad job with the door being hard to close, the caulking job was bad, and I had to press the bottom of the door with my foot to get it to close all the way. We paid him $200. I decided I had learned my lesson and was going to get an expensive contractor to fix it. Enter Fixer. With the generally good reviews and expensive hourly rate, I had no doubts I would have a seamless door installation. They were quick to respond, and could have someone out quickly as well. When the Fixer (John) got there (he was a little late but for me, that wasn't a problem), we discussed the problem and I let him know that we were willing to do whatever to get it fixed, including starting over and buying another pre-hung door. We just wanted it done right. Over a 40-minute period, he just looked at it (though we didn't get charged for that time, thankfully). I finally went back down and asked if there was a problem and he told me several options. I know little about doors so they sounded reasonable enough. He tried a few things, with no luck (all the while I was reminding him that I was fine getting another door). He would say things like I guess I could have just taken the caulk out and redone this with all the time this is taking. He also didn't seem to know what a backer rod was, that should have been a real clue for me but I'm pretty trusting. He said he needed to buy a part but didn't trust us to find it (add on a $50 shopping fee and 20% markup here). He came back the next day and finished up and everything seemed better, it wasn't amazing but the caulking was much improved though I wouldn't call it good--he had just scraped it down and the door opened easier since he took out some weather stripping. He did forget to put the trim on the bottom of the door as we discussed, so we reached out about that later and they wanted to charge us for it. Finally they agreed to come fix it but made it seem like a big hassle so I just said I would do it. I decided to wait until after I had someone come to fix drywall right near the door. During that time, the door got worse and worse, the weather stripping started coming off, the door got more and more off-center, and you can see daylight around almost the whole door (with winter here now, there is a freezing breeze coming through the gap, though it's not as bad as entering the produce section at Costco, it still isn't pleasant). There is no way to press the door all the way closed and we can't close our deadbolt all the way anymore. The pictures don't even do it justice--it's terrible! I reached out to Fixer and the lady seemed to agree that it didn't look good and all, she said she would reach out to customer service. I fully expected them to send someone else out to fix it or refund my money (about $350). They came back and offered $25 off a future Fixer appointment and suggested I go with someone else to fix it. I was so disgusted! I have proof that they did a terrible job, and they won't show some integrity and man up. I haven't heard back from them since trying to be more clear about what I expected, but interestingly enough, I had another contractor company reach out to me just the day after they suggested I go with someone else to get the door fixed... Not impressed at all, and I wish I would have left the door the way it was before Fixer came.

BEWARE - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! FIXER DESTROYD MY NEW DISHWASHER AND COMPANY REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. FORCED TO SUE THEM. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED.

Last month a Fixer came to install a new kitchen faucet, he failed to turn the water flow back on TWICE. After the faucet was installed, I tested the hot water I noticed it didn't come on, so went back under the sink & he turned the flow back onto the hot water; unbeknownst to me he also failed to turn the flow back onto my dishwasher. Days later, my cleaning professional ran my dishwasher, neither of us knowing there was no water flow. I opened the dishwasher to find many melted plastic Calphalon & Tupperware items, as well as burned soap on the inside of my stainless steel door of my 12 month year old GE dishwasher. I reached out to FIXER & I followed up several times before the Fixer finally sent out Jessica, another Fixer, who confirmed my dishwasher heating and drying system had completely BLOWN due to no water flow. Jessica also tried to remove the burn with baking soda - it did not work. Jessica (who was great) said Fixer Co. would likely order a new steamer parts for my model and try to get a replacement door. My dishwasher no longer heats or dries dishes.
Over a week goes by I hear nothing, I follow up again & again, finally someone named Becky and Susanne Duwarsk (a FIxer Founder), sent me callus & insulting emails saying they will not do anything to fix my dishwasher. Susanne sent me the phone numbers outside contractors that I (ME) would have to pay for - without being reimbursed by Fixer. FIxer only offered me $94 Fixer CREDIT. Susanne even tried to blame General Electric, alleging GE they built a faulty machine. Susanne said, the machine should have shut off once it realized no water was there.
GE came to my home ($99 diagnostic fee). BTW: GE only services on weekdays and only offers 4 hour time-blocks with no ETA, so I had to miss a day of work to wait on them.
GE confirmed that the machine's relay mechanism worked exactly as it should have by basically blowing-out once the machine got too hot due to no water flow. GE said, if the relay mechanism had NOT had blown (due to no water flow), the dishwasher could have easily caught fire and burned my home down.
I am beyond hurt by this and never expected this company to be so cruel to its customers. This has been extremely stressful. This company brags about how the Fixer Co is owned by the creator of GrubHub Michael Evans - someone who can clearly afford to make this right.
Fixer refuses to return my calls (I have never spoken to anyone on the phone but I have left messages). They also refuse to respond to my emails. After they offered the $94 Fixer credit, they completely disappeared; washed their hands of me and the entire situation.

The bottom line is this: If the Fixer turned my water back on as he should have (since he turned to off), NONE of this would have ever happened. Unfortunately they sent someone incompetent. This falls on the Fixer Co - no one else. My beautiful dishwasher was $500+ and it cost $99 for GE to come diagnose the issue and will cost even more parts and repair. GE said the cannot do anything about my burned door - it will just be something I have to live with.
I do not understand why I, the customer, am being treated this way this company. I even told them I understand humans make mistakes, just make it right.
I am thoroughly disgusted by your company's treatment of its (loyal)customers. I cannot believe that I now have to take them to court to get this resolved.
BE CAREFUL with the Careless company. They can fix almost anything except their own mistakes!

Don't waste your time and money. I sent them pictures and gave them a detailed explanation of what needed to be done. The person setting up the appointment was so sure it was an easy job, that could be completed in an hour or two. The electrician showed up was unable to complete the job and fixer still charged me an hours work.

I've now used Fixer twice and it's been awesome. The first time, my girlfriend's hair straightener blew a fuse in our bathroom. This was the first time I encountered Fixer and the process was so much easier than my previous dealings with electricians. It was cheaper and the work was done within just a couple days of reaching out to them. Then just last week Brian came out to do some painting around the house. The work was completed quickly and at a reasonable price. There were some areas that I thought required paint, as I had tried numerous products to remove scuffs, and Brian showed me how a magic eraser could make the walls look like they were freshly painted. This saved me a lot of time and money. Many contractors would have probably just re-painted and billed me. I really appreciated that Brian helped me solve my issue on my own.

I've used Fixer for now three times now for a variety of projects - building my bed, building stools, building a bar cart, hanging things, putting together different fixtures in my apartment. The service is awesome - it's super easy to book an appointment and I've found that they always get back to me super quickly. The only reason I'm giving four stars and not five is because they don't book on Sundays, they have a flat hourly rate (which was annoying when I had a small job of hanging something up and it didn't take the full hour) and the last time I booked something the technician came 30 minutes late. Other than that, I'll definitely use again.

Hired for besta cabinet and tv install on wall. First they told us 2 people will come, only 1 person ended up coming who spent the 1.5 hrs looking at ikea instructions and complaining how terrible they are and being on the phone trying to figure out if he could get another person. (I put in request exactly what was being done maybe they could have watched a youtube video?) Second guy was much better/faster but they left scratches on my ceilings, two extra deep holes on my wall since they did not place the tv in the right place initially, tons of dust on the floor which they did not clean up and 1 crooked cabinet. I sent a follow up email for patching wall and cleanup and heard nothing. They were here 5.5 hrs for 2hrs of wrk. I would not recommend them.

I would highly recommend Fixer! I quoted 5 other companies and they were by far the lowest. Response time was less than 10 minutes. I was able to book my appointment via yelp messages with the owner but you can also book your appointment on their website. I loved the fact that they had 5pm-7pm appointments as well! I've used Fixer twice now for various projects around the house. The first project involved fixing a variety of different issues that arose during our inspection, from window cranks to dryer venting and installing a Nest. I called Fixer after experiencing this worst move of my life which on top of everything else left one huge Henredon armoire behind and broken because two move teams could not figure out how to get it apart to move it. Jabril and Cat accomplished in under an hour what two groups of experienced and skilled movers could not. It was a complex dissemble and Jabril and Cat very calmly worked their way through how to get it apart. I'm so happy not to lothis beautiful piece of furniture with my move. You guys are awesome!!!

Part Two -

Today another team from The Fixer, this time Wayne and Cat, to repair and reassemble the armoire in the new apartment!

Just like last time, they worked quickly but ever so carefully to put this piece of furniture back together again. In spite of significant damage done by my movers they were able to repair the armoire so it is not only functional again, but looks great again!!

Had backsplash and new faucet to be installed in bathroom. Bathroom was done within a year and kitchen done 2 months ago...john roamed around my house and basement for half an hour trying to find water shut off. Told him I was not paying 94 an hour for him to try to find the shut off valve when others did. Then asked just to do the backsplash...said no we are done and walked out. Ive had two really good experience and one really bad one. I wish I could recommend this company but they didn't follow up with me when I expressed my displeasure with one of their fixers. Instead of admitting that the job was more than he could handle or discuss what part he could help with, he suggested that I didn't know what I wanted and that the discussion made him uncomfortable. I felt insulted and I'm still a bit angry about how the company handled this situation. I'm not sure the fixer knew what he was doing. He looked a little confused.
It might be this one employee is the problem but unfortunately the customer service person I communicated with said he would call me to discuss and he never did. Still waiting. Still fuming.

Katie was great! We had a light fixture we needed to replace after our large cat tried to use it as a perch and shattered it. Katie arrived early, started work on time, and clearly explained everything she was doing so I could learn. I've used Fixer twice now. The first time they rehung a glass shower door that had pulled off the wall. They arrived with precisely the tools they needed, gave good advice, and finished efficiently. The most recent time was today, when two Fixer electricians (Pedro and Max) came to install two Nest security cameras on our property. It was July 4th and steaming hot outside but they worked with a great attitude and high proficiency. I will use Fixer again any time household needs arise. The Fixer dispatch quickly texted to confirm the work (we exchanged a few pictures of the projects) and booked the appointment. We requested Fixer to hang a towel rack, change a smoke detector, and repair a broken closet door.

Our Fixer, Edgar, showed up on time (actually five minutes early), was extremely courteous, professional, prepared, and qualified. He worked for 1.5 hours (pricing after the first hour is prorated by the minute) and was transparent about timing, etc. He came prepared with basic hardware, but let us know we needed some additional pieces to repair the cabinet door, which we were able to easily find at a hardware store while Edgar was working on the other projects.

When the finished, he walked us through the bill (which again was very transparent!) and told us we'd receive a final bill via text/email - which we did within minutes. Through that final bill you can rate, review, and leave a tip for your Fixer.

Fixer made the process of finding a handyman, (which from experience can be difficult) quick and easy. We'll definitely be back!

Once again used Fixer. On Thanksgiving my both sinks clogged and there was a small leak. I didn't know if I can even use my dishwasher! I booked Jen for Friday morning. It was more pricey as it was same day booking and Black Friday. Visit was scheduled for 1.5. Jen fixed all in 1h, explained me what was wrong and what a new part I need to buy. As I paid for 1.5h service she also fixed few small things for me in the bathroom - toilet, vent and lightening! Very clean and professional. My guests and I were very happy and could celebrate our thanksgiving weekend!

I appreciate the quality and speed of his work and Fixers efforts to rectify the problem. 4-stars because of the of stress and loss of time on my end, but a great improvement. We just moved into a new condo the same day David from Fixer came out, he was scheduled to install 2 ceiling fans, he noticed that we had a small leak in the master bedroom, he put the fans on hold and caulked the leak. If it wasn't for David i'm not sure I would have caught that leak and there could have been real damage to our new place. David was able to install both fans that day as well. Couldn't be happy with the service we good, he was professional, knowledgeable and courteous. We have already scheduled David for a few other things we need done around the place.

I've been putting off dealing with a couple of home repairs because of the inconvenience of gathering quotes. I finally started the process of contacting local companies when I saw a recommendation from a friend for Fixer. I booked an appointment for that day. Details sorted out by text. Not a robot. A friendly smart person texting you. Edgar showed up right on time and managed to install a new bathroom light, hang a heavy mirror AND hang two other sets of shelves in 60 minutes flat. And now 24 hours after the job is already done I finally received a response from the other company I reached out to who said they would need to schedule a visit to properly estimate the job and would I be available during a work day for them to come by. Nope! Don't put up with that crap. Just use Fixer. Quality, fast, affordable.

I didn't really know what to expect using Fixer's video consultation service. A rental apartment that I own had a damaged countertop in need of initial diagnosis and a plan to fix. I'm really glad that I ended up trying Fixer as it ended up being a fantastic experience. The advice that I got helped me to solve a tricky problem and it was super easy to have my tenant show the damaged counter and sink on their phone while the Fixer and I looked on and the three of us talked through the problem and the best way to solve it. I am really thrilled to have another option for resolving home repair and maintenance. And, it will be great to not to have to always have to travel to see the problem in person or wait for a repair person to show up.

Update: Since my last review, we've hired Fixer about three or four more times - most recently, today, when Edgar (who is awesome) came to help us with some electrical work. Each time has been just as good as the first, and we'll gladly continue to hire them for future needs.

We set up a couple of jobs with Fixer.com (installation of a very heavy mailbox on our wrought iron gate, fixing some kitchen cabinets, getting a toilet to stop running) and could not be happier. The scheduling process is super easy, and the team was very responsive - via text, no less - when discussing the details. (You can text photos, etc., to help them prepare for the job.) Their rates, we feel, were very reasonable; after the first hour, the rate is per minute, so you don't get charged, say, for 3 hours when they were really only there 2.4 hours. The rate is lower during times when they have to run to the hardware store for parts, too, which is nice.

Fixer.com sent us Chang for our jobs, and he was a SAVANT at everything. He really knew his stuff, and made sure that all solutions to our issues were considered so that we'd land on the right approach, at the most reasonable cost. He was also so fast; not a minute was wasted, even though he managed to also take the time to teach us a thing or two about our cabinets and toilet so we could avoid issues down the road. Oh, and he didn't leave a trace. No sawdust, no wayward screws...n

So many times, we've tried to hire a guy to fix something here and there. But we've never found the one (and in fact experienced more issues than not). But honestly, we will be going to Fixer.com for help all the time now. Just an amazing experience all around.

Everything you would want and expect from an on-demand handyman service. Easy to book, was able to request an exact time (not even a window!) and our handyman Chang came at exactly that time. Work was professional, he started and stopped a clock and charged us for exactly the time he spent working. We had a shower head and tub spout replaced. We have used other services in the past, including Angie's List and always either felt ripped off or not satisfied with quality of work. We used fixer for a long list of projects before we moved into a new home. The company is easy to book through and seems like they'd be worth working with. However, we didn't have a great experience with our workers. Our trainee was great - she was a real go-getter and was heads-down and powered through really well. But this stuff was new to her and I suspect she needed a bit more guidance from her trainer. Our painter ended up needing to re-do most of the drywall repairs they completed for us. I'm not sure if we'll be giving Fixer another go or not.

I booked an appointment for my rental property to help resolve a leaky toilet and also fix the garage door. I hired Fixer to replace a bathroom faucet in our condo. There were a few issues with the original installation of the faucet which were quickly diagnosed but additional parts were needed to complete the installation. Two days later, the faucet was installed -- took a little longer than anticipated but the work was excellent and the company stood by the original estimate for the work. I will also note communication from start to finish was excellent. Would absolutely hire again for future needs!

John F & Terry came over to do some electrical work and some patching, etc. First off, these guys are two of the nicest guys I've ever had in my house. Having workers over is sometimes an intimidating experience, and they were just so kind. (They were even nice to my cats!) Second, they did amazing work! Super well done and super speedy! Bonus, they wrote me a little note on the wall (that's about to be painted) in pencil to warn me that the wires were hot and to not touch them. I'm in shock and awe of the entire experience. Katie is absolutely amazing! We initially had someone come out from Fixer who did not patch our ceiling to our, or Fixer's, standards. I took a few pictures and got in contact with their customer service. They were apologetic and said that someone would be out that afternoon at our convenience.... Enter Katie, extremely prepared and very professional. Not only did she show up early and was apologetic for the previous work, but she explained everything and took care of business. She fixed the issues. Our ceiling looks as close to perfect as it will ever be, and my wife and I couldn't be happier. Gwen T was awesome! Our first time checking out Fixer. We botched hanging a curtain rod and needed it hung properly as well as the bad install covered up. Gwen was on time and was able to take care of the cover up a d install in under an hour. She even took the time to hang the curtains. Throughout she made sure it was how we wanted by asking questions I hadn't even thought about, like if we wanted it centered in the room or over the window as these two things are not quite the same in this room. Also, exactly how far we wanted the rod to extend on either side.

So excited to have found Fixer! I've been so pleased with the initial process - easy and thorough communication, and quick availability. And I had a great experience with Chang this morning. We scheduled him to swap out our (very) old shower fixtures and install a new valve. He was extremely helpful in explaining the challenges and risks of the job, and ultimately steered us to a better solution even though it meant him not doing the work today. He was more interested in helping us understand the real issue than in charging us for hours of work that might end up with an unsatisfactory result. I had them out once a few years ago, and they blew me away with the service that they offered, fast forward to their last 3 visits and wow how things have changed. The day of the first appointment, the person was scheduled to arrive at noon, but was coming from Hyde Park and was running late, after an hour I canceled that appointment. I then they rescheduled for the next day where the fixer was only 20 minutes late. It took him 2 days to complete the job, and then he lied and said he painted the ceiling but he had not and it showed. I needed to have the ceiling painted so I gave them another shot, this time the fixer was late and left for 2 hours to get lunch and go get a piece of wood, please note I live across the street from Ace, so this amount of time was worrisome. I complained and they comped some of the services, if you want to talk to a human please note everything is text, unless you get very mad and demand a call. To make a long story slightly shorter today I got an email saying the fixer may not be the right fit for my home improvement needs. Be warned this is not a company you want to let into your home, as they will pass the buck and not take responsibility for their actions.

Can't beat their rates at $80 an hour.

He was very professional and respectful and I really appreciated that. However, he took a lot longer for this work than a typical contractor would, which added to the expense. And unfortunately, all three junction boxes that he installed had to be moved to account for the drywall. The blank junction box was set to flush with the stud, the outlet junction box did not account for the lathe nor did the junction box for the light fixture. And I'm not sure why he installed a single wall switch box for the outlet and not a typical 4 gang box. It would have been a lot easier for me to simply add a cover with a deeper extension if it was standard 4 square box. All in all, I had to spend about 2 hours to adjust the boxes including going to the store. I feel like I should be given a credit for having to do re-work. And Im not certain why he didn't show up with material and had to go to the store, which I had to pay for his time to go to the store. I feel like with the description of the work and the small amount of work it would have been pretty easy to pick up some wire and gang boxes prior to showing up.

Fixer was easy to work with to set up the appointment - I was able to coordinate entirely online and through text. Nikki was absolutely awesome. She would not quit until the job was done, and done well. What was supposed to take two hours ended up taking nine due to unforeseen complications, but she cancelled her other appointments to ensure that we were happy with the work by the time she left. I would definitely work with her and/or Fixer again.

I scheduled an appointment to have our deck resurfaced, they did not show up and did not even contact me. After contacting them their response was that my appointment slipped through the cracks. I decided to give it another chance and rescheduled for 2 days later, and once again did not show up! I was texted after the scheduled time saying they would be late, and then again saying they were just not coming. I don't know how this company survives with this horrible customer service.

Awesome! Chang was the handyman who hung curtains rods in my bedroom and living room. He also hung a very heavy iron mirror, which was very difficult as the mirror's backing was not well designed for hanging. He got it done in a way that was safe and effective. I paid for the service online and it was less than I expected. Chang was professional and cheerful. I just wish I had more projects!

I was looking for someone to hang a curtain rod in our Nursery. After reaching out to a couple of people that left business cards at our property and not hearing back from them, I saw a recommendation on Nextdoor for Fixer.com, so I went to their website. Booking a Fixer could not have been easier, I got a text shortly after booking online with a few questions about the job. We decided that it was best to have 2 fixers due to the length of the Curtain Rod (120) and I texted them a couple of pictures of the install site. John P. and Ian R. showed up exactly on time and got right to work. Our ceilings are concrete, so mounting of the center rod support took some extra work to drill, but they worked well together and they got the job done in about 45 minutes from the time they arrived! They cleaned up after themselves and the work was flawless. All in all they saved my 8 month pregnant wife form having to help me hang a curtain rod on 9' Ceilings, it was really a win-win for everyone! I will not hesitate to use them again for handyman tasks around the house....

I requested a quote for a project, gave all the asked for information. I received an email saying they were interested in my project, gave their hourly rate. That asked for more information. 10 hours later I received a text saying they don't service my area. I'm 1.1 miles from their location. What a great experience! Fixer got in touch with me as soon as I requested a quote. They inquired about the details of the job, told me how many people and how much it would be (hourly), and then they stuck to that quote. I had a large medicine cabinet, two towel bars, and a towel ring installed in my bathroom. I had wanted the towel bars on the back of the bathroom door - one of the fixers pointed out that, if that was done, we wouldn't be able to open the door all the way. I was very glad he pointed that out - he suggested installing them on another wall, staggered, and that is what we did. I was very glad that he pointed that out. It all looks great, and the price was very fair. I feel like a got a great value for the money, and I would definitely use Fixer again! Thank you very much!

I contacted this company through Home Adviser and after reading reviews on Yelp. I had listed my problems as two areas where the light fixture was not working and I suspected a short in the fixture or the wiring. I called on a Monday and was given a Tuesday appointment. I received a text an hour later saying the fixer was late but would arrive soon. I was confused but ran around wildly getting myself presentable . It was a mistake and my appointment was still Tuesday.---Tuesday my fixer arrived 30 minutes late but was very nice. The problem was unless I just needed light bulbs changed there was nothing he could do --he wasn't an electrician. He could take a look but if it was the wiring he could not fix anything and would have to charge me. I said but when I was asked on line to describe my problem I stated that I suspected a short. Why did your company send someone that was unable to help??? He said that he just is sent out and never is told the actual situation. Thanks for wasting my time .

Getting a handyman through Fixer was so easy! I was able to schedule a same day appointment for 4pm and Chang arrived right on time, that flexibility to schedule him with what works for me and the reliability alone were totally worth it! Chang was professional and did a great job at installing our garbage disposal. I also liked that since it's a flat rate for each visit, I didn't feel the pressure to get through my entire list of fixes, but i can slowly chip away at it for no extra cost if I only have someone out for a small fix.

I've used Fixer on 3 different occasions, all for faucet replacement. As far as the work itself, top notch - well worth leaving a tip. HOWEVER, read carefully their pricing protocol and figure the cost of any non-repair expenses before having them do the work. On my last repair I was charged over $25 to cover a 5x8 hole with a 18x24 panel board - they said the material cost them $21 to purchase, plus 20% upcharge (They didn't charge me the $50 purchasing fee, which would have the deal breaker going forward). Well, I got on the Home Depot website afterward, and that board was indeed listed at $21 - FOR A 4'X8' SHEET! My guy comes in the door with just a portion of that sheet and cut that down for my job. So, does Fixer charge the next customer $21+ for the portion that got put back in the truck? So, use your scratchpad before calling.

These guys are amazing. We've had an ongoing bathroom project we've mostly done as a DIY, but it's taken forever, and we couldn't quite solve how to put in the new vanity and build something around it so there weren't gaps between it and the wall. Whoever originally constructed the space for the vanity did it at just under 36, meaning we had to use a 30 vanity or spend more than we wanted on a custom piece. We also needed two small drywall patches. We originally called a handyman who told us he'd come out in a week just to give us an estimate, and couldn't say when he could do the work. I was able to schedule with Fixer quickly and easily--I contacted them yesterday afternoon and by 9 a.m. this morning, there was a professional and a bonus trainee at our home ready to work. They spent nearly eight hours doing a custom build with lumber around the vanity, did the plumbing and installed the sink, and patched the walls, all for a very VERY reasonable price. I needed an new outlet installed in my basement. My regular electrian recently retired so I found The Fixer on Home advisers. I emailed The Fixer on New Year's Day and got a response right away. Victor was here the next day at noon to do the work. Victor was prompt, efficient, explained how he was going to do the job, and offered a couple of different options on how to do it. While he was here, he also did some work on another outlet in the basement. He also looked at a 2 light sconce where only one of the lights worked. It wasn't broken but showed me that the bulb wasn't making a connection with the socket. Victor was here about 2 hours, which included a quick trip to the local hardware store (for the extra outlet repair in the basement). I thought his price was reasonable for the work (and the extra work) he provided. I would definitely call the Fixer again. I was very satisfied with Victor and his work.

Just when I thought you guys couldn't get better! OMG! I used your company for the first time a week ago as my fan was wobbly and I needed the posts under my bed to be secured. The bed is perfect, however, my fan was still wobbly and was now making a clicking noise. Upon contacting Fixer, I was responded to immediately with an apology and willingness to send another person out (FREE OF CHARGE) to make this right! Well, Pedro is no my GO TO GUY! Went to the fixer website in the morning to select a time for a person to come out and in two text messages found a time for that same day for someone to come out. I don't usually leave a feedback but this time I am happy to! Things could go so wrong with plumbing and electrical issues to resolve in the middle of winter, but everything went well with Fixer. I sent an enquiry late at night but someone replied quickly and confirmed appointment. The next morning Becky arrived 10 minutes early. She was able to fix both problems within 1 hour of labor. She was so honest and stopped the clock when she went to buy some parts. No hidden cost and jobs done. I could have asked a plumber and an electrician separately and pay double. So this system was very good. Highly recommend!!

We called another handyman site, punch list, and were told that it would take four days for someone to arrive just to give us an estimate and then we would have to wait longer for someone to do the repair. We set the appointment for the estimate, but grew impatient. The following day we called Fixer and they scheduled something for that afternoon. They had to cancel because their previous job ran longer than expected and rescheduled for 9am. The next morning, they arrived 15 minutes late, not a problem. They gave us a quick estimate for the work and got started right away. Our job was pretty big and it ran long as well, but they stayed and finished the work. I am really happy we called them. Our job was completed two days prior to the appointment for the other site's estimate. Bottom line, these folks are fast and they stay until the work is done. If they push back your appointment, it is because they are treating their current job with the care and attention that it deserves. Even with the delay, they were 3 to 5 days faster than their competitor. I will call them again for my next project. Oh... and they were priced fairly too. Delightful.

The level of service and prompt response time was incredible. Chang from fixer was on time, friendly and professional. My wife called me Tim the Toolman as I performed DIY jobs with varying levels of success. Even when successful, it always took twice as long and spent twice as much in supplies as I anticipated.

I called because I needed help with a light fixture that was more complicated than a basic two wire attach and secure job. I called and they had someone come out right away. Chang was the person that came out and he was very professional and polite. He did a thorough check and explained along the way. I was very impressed with Chang and the company and highly recommend them to anyone that needs help.

I've used Fixer twice within the last week to install three smoke detectors and repair some drywall in my bathroom. Both times the work was completed in one hour or less, and to my satisfaction. They are now my go-to handyman service.

I used this service to have my condo painted. They did a very good job on the living room and dining room. They painted the walls, a door, and the floor baseboards. All in all, I am satisfied with the actual job that they did. The only downside was the cost estimate for the job was quite a bit off (actual cost more expensive). I'd like to see how they do on other jobs, so will probably try them again in the future.

I just moved into a new place and, of course, there is a ton of things that need to be fixed. I happened upon Fixer and it has been wonderful. The process is so easy -- I just write what I need on the website and the day/time I want somebody to come and then Fixer texts the details. Terry was sent out to my condo the first time -- he was on time and very professional. While he was here replacing blinds, bracketing a bookshelf to the wall, fixing a leaky sink and running toilet, the Comcast was here telling me that I needed to fish wire through my walls to get cable. When he left, Terry took the time to explain what that meant and then came back the next week to do it for me! He did such a good job that when Comcast sent a new technician out to install the cable -- he was impressed with Terry's job! I cannot say enough about this service and Terry! They have made moving into my new condo so much easier.

They made their 6 visit to me today and it was super as always. They are fast, efficient and capable. And unusually pleasant. John and Ian were great. They have done plumbing, electrical, and carpentry for me so far. Just look at fixer.com

We needed two light fixtures installed (one also needed a switch fixed) and two ceiling fans (with lights) assembled and put up. We used a coupon for our first appointment. We contacted them while we were home one afternoon and they were able to send someone an hour later. We then immediately booked for John to come back a week later to install the rest of our lights (we hadn't ordered everything at that first appt). Other companies we researched seemed really expensive ($200 just for call out and 1hr) this was a much more competitive rate. Scheduling was easy, John was awesome and we've already recommended fixer to several or our friends.

Had several small projects in two condos I own in downtown Chicago and hired Fixer Chicago. The handyman was about 1 hr late and did not call to let me know. He attempted to fix a chip on the edge of a kitchen countertop but did not have the skills to do so and the results were awful! A chunk of wood was broken off of the bottom of a folding door when he adjusted it and I had to clean up everything after he left. Others mentioned that they were not charged for the time spent on communication about the project/ only the actual time worked. Not so for my projects! The timer was on from the time he arrived until he was ready to pack up and leave! I would say about 45 minutes was spent in communication about the different projects in different condos 4 floors away in the same building

Wow! How refreshing to be able to choose an appointment time (not a four hour window, an actual time), have someone show up when they say they will, and quickly fix shoddy work that you paid a highly rated electrician a lot of money to do. I'm super impressed and will not hesitate to hire them again.

We have had numerous, terrible experiences with Fixers. Multiple times we have had to bring them back for errors in the repair, one time something even as simple as not being able to fit a hose for a faucet through a hole in our installed counters so I had to call the counter installers back only to find out it fit just fine. Waste of everyone's time. Another time it was to address a massive leak from our dishwasher, that was not previously there, after an installation of a new disposal. Now, after a home inspection for the sale of our condo, just found out that the dishwasher is not allowed to be drained through the disposal in the city of Chicago, something that they probably should have known when they came to do the repair, even if it was already hooked up that way. Now we have asked for them to come and hook it up properly to address our buyer's request and it apparently isn't their problem since it was already hooked up that way. Would have appreciated knowing that when they were here making the repair. Super disappointed with their consistent errors and lack of accountability.
