We've used Smart Plumbers for years. They're fair-priced, efficient, and trustworthy.

I there was a  lower rating then 1 Star I would have chosen it.
$2,700 to replace my water heater Outrageous!!

While I was out of town my Son had to get a water heater replaced.

He chose Smart P & R for the job, the tech billed him over $2,700.

After numerous calls and many left voice mails Hermos (Disp. mgr)
called and after a lot of back and forth they decided the cost was justified.

I'm all for making a profit but, this to me was just plain price gauging!

I will never use this Co. or refer anybody to use them!

Smart Plumber is my choice for all plumbing solution. I have been using Smart Plumber for many years now. Their responses were quick and reasonable. My latest was a faulty kitchen faucet, and Joel with his help fixed it in reasonable time!

We had Patrick from Smart Plumbers come out to repair the p-trap on our urinal on February 18th, 2022. We are located in Santa Clara.

It was not draining properly and Patrick said the p-trap was calcified and needed replacing.

I was not onsite to approve the job but our onsite manager did approve it. She was unaware she was being hosed.

Look at the picture attached for the work performed. They replaced the PVC p-trap.

$375 service charge.
$100 parts charge. (PVC p-trap)
$18 credit card fee.
$493 Total.

I called Smart Plumbers  and asked to have the charges explained to me as I thought the price for the work performed must have been in error. I was told they would have Patrick, the plumber who preformed the work call me back that afternoon. No call. I called two more time and was assured he would call me back. No call. Finally March 1st, a full 10 days later,  Patrick calls me back.  

He very angrily proceeds to tell me the charges are what they are and we approved them. I told him he took advantage of us and although our onsite manager did approve the repair estimate, I would be letting the public know, through Yelp and Diamond Certified, that they are unethical and buyer beware of the price gouging.

Very unprofessional. Over priced.

I noticed that we had an overflowing pipe near my front door late on a Sunday afternoon. I thought I would be out of luck because of the day and time but I gave Smart Plumbers a call anyway. They had Joel come out in under two hours and he fixed my issue in less than 30 minutes.

Plumbing is something you don't want to mess with in an emergency situation. It can go from a cheap fix to an expensive and invasive fix in a hurry. That said, I now know who to call when I'm in a pinch. Thanks Smart Plumbers!

I used Smart Plumbers to replace a kitchen faucet along with replacement of shower tub spout. The experience overall was good...I called and spoke to Mike who was easy to talk to, he had Joel the plumber out the next day to evaluate the work to be done. After seeing what had to be done Joel needed to pick up parts including faucet and came back the next day to complete the work. Joel performed this work in a timely manor and was very thorough.
The pricing was competitive. One thing I will say is if you're installing new fixtures select and purchase them ahead of time.

This is my second time for using Smart Plumbers and again very satisfied with there service we had a faucet leaking make a call to the office and with in two hours they where here Freddy was our plumber tech and did a great job of explaining if what went wrong and gave us several options on how to go forward with fixing it. Again thanks for making it easy to work with you guys

I always reach out to Smart Plumbers because of two two things. Their office will keep you informed of the technicians arrival, and when they arrive, they work clean by being careful not to track in dirt from machinery and shoes. Not to leave out that they always get the job done to my satisfaction. Thanks to the tech Sarfraz.

I called Smart Plumbers and Rooters because I needed the pipes under my new kitchen sink to be refitted. Smart Plumbers employees are friendly and scheduling an appointment was quick and simple.  Joel and Jose were very helpful and knowledgeable.  The work was completed quickly and efficiently.  I would recommend Smart Plumbers and Rooters to anyone who needs any type of plumbing service.

Had a broken sewer connection located very deep underground.  Tree roots were the culprit.   Joel was able to fix the sewer connection and replace the original clean out that was buried 5 feet deep with a new clean out that is now accessible to help in case of future clogs which we shouldn't have now that issue has been addressed.  Very happy with Joel's timely updates of the work done and coordinating with city inspector.

Our water heater broke In the late afternoon and over the phone Victor walked us through shutting down the line into the heater so we could continue to have water in the house overnight.  He arrived first thing in the morning and not only replaced our water heater, but upgraded the different parts connected to it. Out of three plumbing companies, Smart was the only one who offered on-the-phone support immediately.

WOW!  These are the type of plumbers that you wish were standard in the industry.  At 2:30 Friday afternoon, our three toilets were not flushing fully, and the showers were backing up.  We called the plumbers who installed the toilets for us a few months ago, but they could not send someone until Saturday morning.  

We called Smart Plumbers, and Giovanni showed up about 3:30.  He said they would have to remove 1 toilet to snake out the line and remove the blockage. He also told us that we would probably have some water damage to the bathroom from the pressure being released when the toilet was removed.

He checked the outside of the house for a clean-out vent, but we did not have one.  

He then came up with the perfect solution.  He noticed a vent on the roof that would be large enough for a mechanical sprayer that produces a high-speed stream of water (like a super power washer) which could cut through the blockage (as long as it wasn't tree roots).

He went to the office and was back in about 20 minutes with the equipment.

Once he was on the roof, the hose was put down the vent and fully extended into the water pipe.  He turned it on, and within 3 minutes, the shower backup was receding.  he kept it on for another 5 minutes to ensure that the pipe was cleared.

We thanked him, paid him, and he was on his way to help someone else.

To be able to get a plumber on short notice, and to have them get the job done quickly, effectively, and with no extra cost to us, is what we all want.  SMART Plumbers will be the 1st we call for all of our future plumbing needs.

When visiting my parents, a pipe burst in their garage and Smart Plumbers sent a plumber, Freddy, within the hour. I'm so thankful that they were able to send someone right away as we had to turn the water supply to the entire house off and there is a medically fragile person in the household for whom the water being off for long periods is not safe. Freddy was courteous and very clear about what he was doing and his estimate was spot-on, no  surprises. Having a plumbing emergency is never pleasant, but Smart Plumbers made it a quick and easy fix.

Smart Plumbers have been with us for the last ten years or so--when we receive their calendar magnet in the mail--we keep it!  They even send us a holiday card!  Wanted to thank Joel and José for visiting us recent to help us with our water heater.  Smart Plumbers are totally reliable, fair with their pricing, and pretty much awesome.  Glad to be together for a decade!

We've used Smart Plumbers in the past and needed their help again. We had a leak under our bathroom sink and put in a call. They sent out their service rep Frederico within a couple of hours. He was fast, efficient and friendly. They have always served our needs and we highly recommend them for all your plumbing needs.

These guys were AMAZING!!  Called them after 7, bc that's when my lovely sink started leaking water everywhere!!!

They were responsive, communicative, and arrived shortly!  Ed was respectful of what I needed, worked on it until he found the issue, then offered to go to Home Depot for me at 9:20pm, to get me a new pipe, and new disposal.

Poor guy didn't finish until after 11:00pm!!!!

We have used Smart plumbers twice in the last two months.  In January they installed a whole house water filtration system.  Federico was knowledgeable about equipment and pricing.  He came on time to do the work and left everything clean after the work was finished.  Frederico even left his mobile number in case we had any problems!
Yesterday our water heater broke and flooded the basement of our home.  By 11:30 today Jose from Smart Plumbers installed a new water heater with a new gas line, new pan and new copper adapters.  He was fast and efficient!
This is our go to plumbing company!

Earlier this week, some of my drains started backing up. No big deal, I thought to myself, we just bought our house and we have a home warranty! Got in contact with my home warranty, they sent a plumber out who not only didn't fix our problem, but misdiagnosed our problem.

Our home warranty couldn't find a plumber with the proper equipment--so the put the onus on us to find our own, then get preapproval for an out of network provider. Unnnnnng. I started calling around for quotes. Not only was Michael, who answered my call extremely friendly and helpful, but he was able to get us a rough estimate for the services we thought we needed. He then insisted that he send a tech out to take a closer look at the problem and give a more accurate estimate.

Federico arrived at the beginning of the window I was told a tech would arrive. He quickly assessed the issue and recommended a different solution than the original plumber had recommended. He took the time to explain why he had a different opinion and the steps he would take to resolve our issue. He even talked to my home warranty specialist on the spot to ensure that I had instant approval for the out-of-network service.

Within 20 minutes my drains were clear and my issue resolved. But Federico took the time to push the rooter through two more times to really make sure that the issue was completely clear. He was able to invoice me on the spot and made sure that I received it in my email so I could file a claim with my home warranty.

The other thing that impressed me was the fact that I told Federico that the other plumber said that we didn't have a sewer clean out on the outside of the house. While he was cleaning up, he poked around the front of my house and instantly found it. It was literally one foot from where the other plumber said that if we had one, it would likely be. Having this knowledge will save us heartache (and money) in the future if we ever have an issue.

I know who I am calling first to fix any plumbing issues I have in the future!

I would like to give a big thank you to Jose and his crew who have helped us a few times. In 2020 our water heater died, so they replaced it. We just recently had them re-pipe our entire house from galvanized to copper. They were punctual and cleaned up each day. Jose is very patient and answered all our questions and any concerns.

We have been customers of Smart Plumbers for over a decade. We recently had an urgent situation with hooking up our new refrigerator where we needed plumbing services. Victor came on time, listened carefully, and understood the situation immediately. He got to work and made sure everything was running properly before leaving. SP continues to deliver quality service, professionally and thoughtfully!

Federico and team from Smart Plumbers worked on my bathroom renovation.  i was changing from tub to shower and floor-mounted toilet to wall-mounted toilet.  the drains are connected under three feet of solid concrete.  Federico and team did a marvelous job changing the drain pipes and air vent pipes.  Overall a great plumbing job.

We had a leak in a copper pipe repaired by this company three short years ago.  It just leaked again.  Did it leak at the joints where they guy did the soldering?  No.  The new piece of pipe itself formed not one but two (primary) leaks in the copper.  We called a different plumbing company this time.  Turns out the piece that that Smart Plumbers had inserted was the thinnest pipe, Type M, whereas our normal pipe in the house was thicker Type L.  According to our new plumber, Smart Plumbers also didn't ream out the pipe which is a common practice, apparently, to ensure that water flows smoothly.  This new leak costs us THOUSANDS of dollars -- it ruined baseboards, sheetrock, paint, electrical, not to mention that we have now paid two plumbers to fix the same thing.  Totally unnecessary and all due to shoddy and cheap work the first time around.  Pipes should last more than three years ..... shame on you.

My water heater started leaking after 15 years and I knew it was time to replace it. I called Smart Plumbers after talking to Ernies plumbing to get another quote. SP came in $400 less than Ernies and did a great job. I worked with Milakka on the phone to setup the appointment. She was awesome and knew exactly what to do. Federico showed up a few hours later and started right in on my water heater replacement. He was friendly, honest and very skilled at his craft. I highly recommend Smart Plumbers over Ernies. Great job Milakka and Federico. You are both a huge asset to your company should never be taken for granted.

I'm not a person likes to post review on Yelp. Unless it's very good or very bad. Unfortunately this time I had to give a negative feedback.

I used Plumbers from here twice. First of all, they're more expensive than  the market price. Flushing the water heater tank costed $325 for a returning customer when I found out other plumbers asked only for $100.

The most important thing made me disappointed is after I left my honest review on their service in their customer feedback system, they called me to ask me to remove or change it.

Just from my personal experience, I don't recommend this place.

First of all, this is the third time I used Smart Plumbers. It just keeps getting better. They gave me a time window to expect them by, but they did one better, they came earlier.
Always a complete professional, Victor assessed the problem and fixed it in no time.

Victor came to my home very nice guy and gave quote and did the work completely and quickly and very thoroughly always letting me know any problems or situations that arises. Very happy Thank You Victor!!!! No more leaking

I used their service once back in May 2019. Since then, I keep receiving their promotion letters.
I called several times, asked to be taken off their mailing list. Every time I was told: I will let the owner know.
But the promotion letter keeps coming. It is very annoying that you keep receiving unwanted mail.
I don't know what else can I do to make this stop......

Called in the morning, scheduled 1:00-3:00pm arrival to fix a drain trap and cast iron pipe surgery in the garage.  Jose arrived on time, did a quick check, quoted a price and was done in an hour.  Very nice, efficient service.

5 STARS across the board! Went Above & Beyond!

I was renting my house out on AirBnB and had 6 guests staying in my place. I was out of town when the guests told me the toilet was clogged up and the shower was now flooding with water too. I spent 2 hours trying to locate a plumber willing to come over on a Saturday afternoon, and finally Min from Smart Plumbers called me and told me he was on the way and would be at my home in 45 minutes.

Min got stuck in the crazy pumpkin festival traffic on the way to my home, but that didn't stop him. He persevered through and proceeded to spend several hours hunting down where the clog was in my 3300 sq foot home. The guests had thrown a bunch of tampons down the drain which had clogged the connection to the main line. Min cleared it and fixed it.

The guests came home that night and threw MORE TAMPONS down the drain, and clogged it again! I called Min and as part of their Guarantee he came back and cleared the drain again at no charge.

I have to strongly recommend Min and his company. He felt more like a dependable friend then just a plumber. He even helped send me a detailed invoice and statement of fault so that I could be reimbursed by AirBnB. Outstanding &!Amazing Service!

Called these guys to do some plumbing work for a water softener with a bypass. They were able to come the next day and start right away. There was a small leak but they were able to come the next day and re-solder the pipe! Great work guys!

I get back from spring break vacation to find that the water heater decided to die while I was gone for the week and flood my basement.  I turned to fellow Yelpers for help.  I picked three companies to come out for estimates.  Smart Plumbers was the last one to show up that day.  Not only did they provide the lowest estimate, I also located them in the Diamond Certified directory too.   I decided to go with them.

My water heater is in a difficult spot in the garage with not much room to work.  Alex was here for 4.5 hours, but he got it done.  He was exhausted at the end of the job, but always smiling.  The water is nice and hot and I even got some pressure back!  I'm a fan!

Worst service ever, we scheduled an appointment on a Saturday morning 9am and agreed upon $150 fee on the first hour. Right before the appointment at 8:50am, an operator called us and told us they will change the fee to $450 because they need to send out two men.

This review is long overdue, since Smart Plumbers has been our go-to team for anything having to do with our plumbing. They've helped us with lots of projects in the 18 years we've lived in this house, and we've always been happy with their response time, service, expertise, and pricing. When we first started working with them, Alex came out to work on things, from troublesome toilets to replacing our water heater, and he never failed to exceed expectations.

Then, Federico started coming out to answer our calls for help, and he's been WONDERFUL, even going so far as to fix issues that he knew would cause us trouble later. Just today, for example, we needed someone to deal with a clogged kitchen sink, which was compounded by a pipe that burst when we tried to get rid of the clog ourselves. So, yeah, we called Smart Plumbers and asked for Federico.

Immediately after examining the problem, Federico noticed that the pipe was missing a piece, so it wasn't sealed correctly. That's why it burst when we tried to unclog the drain ourselves. Even though it had been that way since the house was built, we didn't notice it because it had no reason to fail until the drain got clogged. He cleared the pipe, fixed the troublesome seal, and tested everything carefully before leaving today.

This is the kind of thing we've come to expect from Federico, who is always conscientious about his work, and then wraps up the job by ensuring we understand what he did to solve the problem. We appreciate that last part, because it helps us in preventing similar problems from happening later on. But when they do, if we can't handle the problem without help, we know we can depend on Smart Plumbers to work their magic.

Water coming out to living room 9pm last night. Called Smart Plumbers (after turn water off), they sent someone to our house in 30min. Yohvany Resendiz was the plumber. He looks young (I was a little hesitant) but he is good and polite. He first made minimum holes on the ceiling to locate the leak, then came up to my bathroom to remove my toilet, unclogged (w a snake machine) and put in new toilet surface flex. He tried many times to make sure job was done good and clean up well after. Price was reasonable, I am willing for such emergency and they can come to save in a short time. We can turn water back on last night. I hope I don't need to call them again in such emergency, but job well done last night.

Needed my water heater replaced.  Chris came right over to give an estimate, and was able to answer all my questions about what type of heater to replace it with, and any code upgrades that were needed.  

He was able to do the replacement on a Sunday, it only took a couple of hours, and was a very neat and professional job.

I would not hesitate to use Smart Plumbers (and especially Chris) again for any plumbing jobs in the future.

We have used Smart Plumber several times to fix our plumbing problems. Chris arrived on time and fixed our slow drain with ease. He was professional and knowledgeable. Smart Plumbers is our go to plumber. Highly recommended. They know what they're doing and they do it well.

Jose Salinas did an awesome job today when our plumbing backed up and then evolved into additional issues.  Not unusual in an older home with older plumbing.  Jose took his time. He was respectful of our personal space and our Sunday morning.  He explained the issues.  He took care of business and cleaned up the work space.  And by the way, he arrived within 30 min of me calling in for help!  Smart Plumbers have never let us down!

Was leaving for work this week and noticed a puddle of water coming from the main feed into the house. Needed to get resolved ASAP as had children home during the day time. Called Smart Plumbers and Milakaa was very understanding of the issue and was able to reroute Federico to the house and he was onsite in less than 10 minutes. Did a quick survey of the issue, discussed the options with me and started work immediately. Was able to get the issue resolved in a couple hours from the initial phone call. Both were professional and courteous and helped me out when in a jam. Will use again if I ever have any plumbing issues!

Called the (650) 967-2288 asking for a plumber.  Told the woman it wasn't urgent.  Arranged one for today between 1-3.  Called at 3:15 to see where the plumber was and the same woman told me I called and cancelled.  I told her I never cancelled and that I had been sitting here waiting and she hung up on me.  I called back and some guy answered and was really kind of a dick and got short with me because this woman was in his ear.  I've used them many times in the past.  Will never use them again.

We used Smart Plumbers to replace an old water heater that suddenly sprang a leak. They did a wonderful job and were a highlight to a rather trying day.

We have used several plumbing services in the area and Smart Plumbers was by far the best. In particular, the price was reasonable, the quality of the work was high and I was impressed with their attention to detail.  I felt that they were giving us honest appraisals of the work needed, and never felt like we were being sold unnecessary services.

I also want to call out our plumber, Yohvany, for his persistence and hard work and for his positive attitude.  The job had a couple of setbacks that required him to stay longer.  Without asking, he put in the extra work and remained cheerful.  I also appreciated the advice he gave us about other plumbing issues in our house.

I have already recommend Smart Plumbers to others and will not hesitate to use them in future.

We used smart plumbers and here are my observations with the plumber (Federico Reyes). Less to say it has been an amazing experience with Federico. These are the things I have witnessed and you can expect from him

2. Good communication
3. Commitment to get the job done right
4. Considerably reasonable pricing
5. Reliable in the quality of work and persistence to complete the work

All in all, I am happy with the work he has done. As part of this job, he fixed a couple of things for us, broken tub faucet, broken sink faucet, broken water dispenser for our reverse osmosis.

Nice to see the technician Richard having so many good reviews. He was the same guy who came to see my place initially, and the came back again to fix a corroded valve under the sink. During the first visit, Richard spent some time inspecting the valve and the water shut down, and only gave me an estimate of what the fix would include, thankfully at no charge despite spending at least 30 minutes trying to fix my issue. These guys were very responsive, and came out to my condo within about 1.5 hours of me calling.

And now having finished the repairs, the valves seems to be working just fine. Now if I could get the dishwasher to work (not a plumbing issue), I'd be a happy camper. Richard was extremely friendly, professional about his work, explained everything to me as he was doing it, and I liked how tech-capable they were. Invoice emailed right away, pictures taken for reference, etc.

I'm not sure what the price comparison is to other companies, but I liked how responsive and professional these guys were. I'd go back to them again for any other plumbing issues.

Prompt! great service from Min! even came prepared with pads to protect the floor. Two toilet valves replaced and emergency stop valves. The toilet is rebuilt! Min is informative and very knowledgeable with his life time of experience. I won't be calling anyone else for plumbing needs!

We had a major problem with a toilet, raining through the floor into a closet below. I called at 10:20 AM. Joel came and removed the toilet, showed me the problem and explained my options, then cut out the old flange and installed a new one and seal, replaced the toilet, tested the repair,  and checked from below too. I have paid and he has left, and it is 1:00 PM. Two and a half hours from first call to me sitting and doing this review.  What fantastic and skilled service!

Min was very friendly and quick and solved our issue as good as we could have asked for. During a frustrating time he was very calm and we felt confidence our plumbing issue would be fixed with such a wonderful professional working on the job.

Would highly recommend Min for any plumbing job!

Unfortunately had to use their services again, but I'm happy that whenever my house's pipes decide to show their age I have reliable plumbers to rescue me.

I don't even know where to start with the experience with this company.  What I will share is there is a problem the company will not address the problem or review the problem in person.  Its all on the technician to resolve.  I had numerous calls to the company to have a supervisor come to my home due to damage to the home.  Never once did they come to the house.  It was like pulling teeth to solve the problem.  The so called supervisor, Hormuz was useless and never followed up wth me.  Horrible communication. I would never recommend this company.  I finally did get the problem resolved but it was all on me to make the arrangements to get the issue resolved.  Stay away.

I had a problem with my toilet and called Smart Plumbers.  They were professional and informative and had patience with my questions.  Chris called me to give me a rough estimate and he then came out to do the job on the same day.He was so nice and a pleasure to work with.  He even checked the rest of the bathrooms and did not charge me for checking those and fine tuning.  I would highly recommend this company!!

Top notch service from Smart Plumbers. My in-laws had a major back up due to old pipes (later we learned the problem is in front of the house) Patrick was sent out to make the assessment and later was assisted by Victor. Patrick and Victor were very professional. Patrick snaked and water jetted the pipes. Being an older home in Santa Clara the house has no clean out. Victor quoted to add a cleanout and a few days later performed the work with Jose. Victor ran a camera through the cleanout and found the main line was broken between the house and sidewalk. My in-laws are in their late seventies, Victor was very patient and professional with all of their questions and concerns. Not to mention all of the follow up questions from myself and my wife. In a few weeks Victor will come back to fix the main line. My mother-in-law has some obligations otherwise they would have come out sooner. Thanks again Smart Plumbers for the top notch service and we look forward to the next round to finish the work!

Patrick was great. He knew his stuff very well. He not only fixed our faucet issue but we found another issue after we set the appt, which required him to do some extra work but since he forgot to tell me it had extra costs just to look the problem he cut the fee in half! He even looked over one of my repairs and I gave him free reign to replace, it but he said it looked good. Again saving me money! I have used Smart  several (over 4 times) over the years and we get different guys but every time they have respected my time, my house, and my wallet. Plus and get the job done! While I don't look forward to plumbing issues I do know who I will call when I get them.

This is a good outfit. They communicate well and the repairs are solid and stay fixed for a long time. Prices are always high with plumbing but at the least you know your dealing with a full deck here. I have used them to replace a toilet and more and their work is 100% good.
I am now using them for all my plumbing needs here at my duplex.

One of their technicians showed up for an old dead water heater at my 95 yr old mother in laws house. Speaking with my wife at the beginning, the manager told us he was sending one of his senior techs to do the job.  We live 3 hrs away. They were instructed to correspond with us at every decision making point and not just my dementia suffering mother in law. I spoke to the tech, who drained it and proposed a solution not to replace it for over 2K. That was the first red flag I should not have ignored.  I asked him how much to replace it and he said $1800.  I asked him what brand water heater he'd put in and he said top of the line AO Smith. He told me he needed to replace the shut off valve as well.  I asked him if that was included in the quote and he said yes.  I told him to send me the estimate. When I received an estimate from him as requested it was for $2350...really?  I told him no way and he said he'd do it for $1800 as originally quoted.  After he completed the job I requested a picture sent. He had installed a Bradford-White water heater and did not change the shut off valve. Then when confronted he told me a Bradford-White was made by AO Smith....utter nonsense.  I told him he lied to me and he said sorry.  Later he told me if he installed an AO Smith, he'd have to charge me an additional $250 and he didn't want to replace the valve after all because the job can be a delicate operation. I was done talking to the installer so I spoke to his manager who said he'd talk to the owner and get back to me.  The tech left the house.  After waiting and never receiving a call from the manager that day or the next, a different tech showed up at my mother in laws home and tried to get her to pay for the unwanted, newly installed water heater. My wife happened to be on the phone with her mom when he arrived, and we were able to stop her mother from paying for the unauthorized water heater installation.  Unbeknownst to us, they had reduced the bill by $200.  This all transpired while my wife and I were still waiting to hear back from a manager to agree on the next step we were going to take.  They evidently thought strong arming a 95 year old woman who can't think straight was the best way to solve the mess created by the installing technician.  I had to insist he leave and have his manager call me.

The way this company handled their original tech's deception is despicable.  I could not believe anything they told me after what had transpired, discovering lie after lie from beginning to end.  They are like used car salesmen in my opinion.  They caused the entire family an enormous amount of emotional stress, when only a water heater needed to be replaced.

We were still willing to try and work out a solution with them but never got a call from their manager again.  My wife's family finally decided they did not want to do business with Smart Plumbers at all, and a tech came back the next day and removed the water heater after I spoke with someone at the main office to inform them we were going to have nothing more to do with their company.

I've done a lot of serious plumbing in my life and they ran into someone they could not BS. Home Depot is charging $1300 plus tax to put in a high end Rheem water heater today.  What a relief.

Comment on Comment:  We were waiting for your response, even into the next day when the different plumber showed up to my mother-in-law's house without any agreement before hand to bother her.  I'm not saying  anything negative regarding the second plumber or the dispatcher.  I'm sorry they had to get in the middle of the mess.  I specifically did not mention anyone's name.  Offering a free water heater 15 minutes after I post an honest review here cannot make up for what happened.  Why would we sell out or take the chance for more mess?  Again we were still willing to work things out if you had followed up as promised.  Not hearing  from you changed my wife's family's desire to have anything to do with your company.  They'd rather pay for a new installation from another company.

This review is for Christopher. He came to my house to fix my shower's slow drain. He charged me $550 for only 10 minutes work and told me there is no guarantee that what he did will help the slow drain issue. I would not recommend him to anyone ! Terrible terrible terrible

Wonderful experience with Smart Plumbers and Rooters.

We had a pipe that burst and flooded the kitchen. Our water shut-off valve was old and broken and we couldn't turn off the water. Bobby came out right away, shut off the water at the meter, and fixed our leak.

It was after hours, so he recommended we leave the water off overnight and he would come back in the morning when we wouldn't pay overtime to save us money.  He came on time the next day and fixed our water shut off valve for a reasonable price.  It works perfectly now and is easy to use.

He checked the house in general and found out that the vent for our sink did not go through the new raised roof.  We saw it too. He fixed that as well, and it didn't cost much.  

Smart Plumbers and Rooters and definitely are go-to plumbers from now on.

Chris was friendly and knowledgable. He was on time and in and out within an hour. Reasonable pricing as well. I will definitely use them again.

Called Smart Plumbers with an extremely difficult plumbing situation which 3 other plumbing companies could not fix. They arrived right on time, knew exactly what to look for, and gave me the best options for fixing my problem. Within that day, everything was fixed, and was also a lot less than expected. They did a great job and cleaned everything before they left. I will be recommending Smart Plumbers, they are a  knowledgeable and trustworthy company.

We tried this shop because of a clever marketing stunt. They sent around flyers apologizing for problems their customers have had in the past, and asking for a chance.

We had never tried them before, but thought it was a interesting and humble approach, and why not give them a try?

We called them for a very simple job, replacing 2 hose bibs that we're screwed (NOT soldered) into PVC pipes. They quoted us $239 each, or $478 total. It was a such a huge ripoff.  I ended up doing me the job myself with my 13 year old son.

At first glance, I thought the job was simple, involving only cutting a PVC pipe, replacing a glued on threaded end, and screwing on a brew hose bib. My total estimated time:  10 minutes. My total estimated parts cost:  $20.

When I actually did the work, I realized it wasn't even necessary to replace the PVC fitting. Instead, the only effort needed was to screw off the old hose bids and screw on the new ones.  The total time required?  5 minutes. Total parts cost?  $14.

They are counting on professional looking customers to know nothing about mechanical things. I had initially thought it was the plumber they sent out who was dishonest. So I contacted the owner, and now I'm convinced it's company policy. His explanation, after I explained in detail how simple this was?  Silicon Valley has a high cost of living!  What plumber (or anyone else) is worth $458 for 5 minutes of work?  Not even the best doctors or lawyers charge that much!

Bottom line:  This is a rip off joint. Don't be a sucker like we were.  We have have much better experiences with other plumbing companies. Some were a bit expensive, but never to the level of a con job like Smart Plumbers.

If there was a way for NO STARS I WOULD GLADLY DO THAT.

BOTTOM LINE.  DO NOT USE THEM!

I called these guys to fix a main line block. They do not keep up their appointment window which is over 2 hours.  An unmotivated, lackadaisical employee showed up an hour after the appointment window who first suggested that this was a problem with the city sewer line with just superficial analysis.

We called the city and the cleared the line and then there was still sewer backing up. So we called these guys again. They didn't keep up their appointment on the day we requested and they had an appointment 2 days later. The same character who did the initial analysis showed up again and sure enough did his useless job and went out.
We are still stuck with a backed up sewer. I am going with a different plumber this time!

The company's name is ironic because there is nothing SMART about their service.

I looked at the other review about the people who have posted positive reviews here. I'm shocked and surprised!!

Federico Reyes repaired a toilet fill valve, and a leaking kitchen sink pipe.  The kitchen sink problem required quite a bit of trouble-shooting to find the cause.  Federico stuck with it until it was repaired properly. Really great service.  I've used Smart Plumbers many times in the past, and have always been completely satisfied with their work.  They give 2 hour appt windows, a text/call when they are on their way, and are always prompt.  Their pricing is reasonable, given before any work is done, and the quality is excellent.

Our water heater sprung a leak on a holiday of all days. Smart Plumbers sent Chris almost immediately. We were expecting a few days' turnaround, since our water heater is up in the attic, which complicates things quite a bit. Chris arranged to get the whole thing done NEXT DAY. We were beside ourselves with relief. He also contacted the manufacturer himself to get a replacement under warranty. All we paid for was labor.

This is one of many instances of Smart Plumbers coming to the rescue in a timely, honest, and economical manner. We can't recommend them highly enough!

Recently we had a question regarding a potential water leak in the bathroom shower area following extensive work that had been completed on all our drains and other plumbing connections. Federico of Smart Plumbers performed a thorough video inspection of the overall area and pinpointed the source of concern.....the shower stall's poor tile sealing condition. Had years of good service from Smart plumbers, but the last experience was not a positive one. We called the plumber who came in to fix problem A, and in process messed up our Reverse Osmosis. Understand that things like this happen, so we called the owner and he suggested another plumber who knows RO really well. This plumber showed up and asked for $$ to fix it. At which point I called the owner again and explained that it wasnt ours to pay because the issue started when Plumber #1 was fixing problem A. After much debate and discussion with the owner, he informed me that I would have to wait and that I would have to pay. Not cool. Eventually I called another plumber, entered into a contract with them and fixed the issue at lower cost. We had been working with Smart Plumbers for 3 years until this issue.. and clearly that meant nothing to them. I had to take several mornings off work to get the issue fixed. NOT COOL. I understand they just went through a merger, and that may have something to do with the issue, because they were not this customer unfriendly before

RESPONSE TO THE COMMENTS FROM SMART PLUMBERS:

Incorrect. Actually he opened up the pipes to the RO, and attempted to clean them. Quite frankly, if you'd just accept that there was an issue and have attempted to work it through with me, I wouldn't have posted this. The attitude is frustrating. I rest my case.

Worst experience ever! Scheduled an estimate, the guy named Alex came spent 15 min on Saturday and promised to email the estimate by Monday. No estimate by Tuesday, so I called the company to check what's going on, they promised to get the estimate within 30 min-nothing! Wednesday- called again, nothing! Thursday spoke again with the office and requested another plumber- obviously I cannot rely on that guy... Saturday- another estimator came in, promised to email by Sunday... Guess what-nothing! Company cannot make sure to give an estimate- won't have my business!!!

I recommend Smart Plumbers.  They did not charge to come to my house and the plumber came the same day and gave me a reasonable estimate then and there without having to call in to the office.  After deciding to go with them, Federico came out the next day and did a great job fixing my problem.  Everything was done so efficiently and easily I had to sit down and write this review.  I have never written a review about plumbers before, but had to share my good experience.

We got help from Min after our pipes literally fell off under our sink and flooded our kitchen. To make matters worse, it was Thanksgiving day and we had family coming to our house for the first time in just a couple hours.

Min was able to come 30 mins earlier than he originally said, explained the problem (poor work from a contactor we had used), and how he would fix it before he started. It was also very assuring that he had a 1 year warranty. He also helped explain how to fix our cabinets with all the water damage!

Overall an awesome job in a really tight pinch, he really saved our day!

It is ridiculous that the worker left our project half done even we have a contract with the company. How can you trust a company like this? I can't image how did they get so many positive reviews

We have used Smart Plumbers and Rooters several times and have always been happy.  This last time was no exception.  We needed a toilet replacement quickly with no time to go shopping, guests about to descend, etc.  Patrick really helped us, advising us on a few different toilets and which one would best serve our needs.  The time save for us was huge.  The install was great and the toilet has been too!

We had Smart Plumbers out for a problem with my son's house, and once again, they were wonderful.  My son has a home warranty for a new house, and the first plumber who came out (not Smart Plumbers) took 5 days and only made the problem worse.  We decided to ditch the warranty since their plumbers were so bad, and called Smart Plumbers.  Glad we did.  We called on Saturday night, and  Fredrico came out Sunday morning at 9am, exactly as promised.  He provided us with a reasonable price for the work and we gave the go ahead.
He quickly diagnosed the issue using a sewer camera, cleaned out the clog, and then worked very hard for the next 4 hours making sure EVERY pipe within the house we well cleaned out using a high pressure hyrdo jet cleaner.  He patiently showed me everything he was doing and explained what he saw as he was using the camera to inspect our pipes.  He had us test every bathroom, the kitchen and the laundry room to make sure everything was flowing well, showing us on the camera the flow of water from each area of the house. The amount of paper and gunk he was able to remove was amazing.  The pictures of our pipe before and after cleaning were like night and day.  It was clear the the prior plumber had just moved the clog from one part of our house down to another part.  That is why it stopped up again, But Fredrico made sure the pipes were completely clean.  As always, we were given a 90 day warranty, which I have used in the past for my house without any issues.  Nice to know people who really do stand behind their work.

Great customer service and response. We had a leak in the garage - old PVC pipe which provided irrigation on the outside (which is critical to some plantings we have on the west side yard). Called on Saturday and they came out on Sunday.  Chris G scoped out the situation and gave us a very reasonable quote within 2 days. We wanted to convert the pipe to copper. We scheduled the repair/replacement, and Chris G, again (one of their master plumbers) did an excellent job. Knowledgeable and happy to share all information we needed to know. I'll definitely call them for plumbing help in the future!

I am so unhappy with your recommendation of Smart Plumbers, Inc. after trusting your company over the years.

How dare you recommend a company that has such incompetent, rude and unprofessional employees as those at Smart Plumbers, Inc.  One business owner to another, this was a very bad choice.  

I made an appointment for Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and after 10 phone calls to the office the driver finally showed up at 11:30 a.m.  

When we made the appointment we expressed that we had renters in the property and they only had a certain window that they were able to let the plumber in.  

We called at 10:32 a.m. to the office and Shaina  stated that she would contact the driver and call us back.  At  10:47 we called Shaina back and she said the driver had been stuck in an accident, not in it, but was on his way.  

We called again at 11:10 and Shaina told us that he was 2 minutes away.  At 11:21 we called and Shaina shared the driver's GPS location in a play by play sort of way.  Basically from what I gathered, the driver was too incompetent to even find the address.

When he finally arrived, we expressed our anger at his lateness.  He said, I just started my shift!  Do you want my service?  My husband said At this point NO!  We are done!

The driver was extremely rude and disrespectful.  This is a company that is supposed to provide a service to customers in need.  This guy didn't care at  all!

We waited in the car in front of our rental property waiting to meet the plumber so as to not inconvenience our renters and instead, We were more than inconvenienced.  Our TIME is worth just as much as anyone else's.  Plumbers and other Service companies charge for their time on the Job, and travel time.   Well, our time should be charged at $300.00 an hour too, in our professions.  How dare you waste our time as DIAMOND CERTIFIED!

This review will be posted on YELP and sent to the owner of the company.  Oh by the way, the owner, Mr. Jin Lee, was on the phone when I called to register my complaint and now it is 6:30p.m. on Saturday night and I still have not heard from him.  That is very poor customer service.  Especially for a so called DIAMOND CERTIFIED COMPANY.  I have done a lot of research on how a company gets their rating and this company should not be anywhere in this rating system.  No matter how much they pay you to be on your website and for your service.  Money can't buy QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE.

We will never use a Diamond Certified Company again.  Seems, our own research is better in quality customer service.

5 Star Service - Fair, Honest & Timely

I have been using Smart Plumbers for small plumbing issues for about 5 years and they have always done a great job.  We recently had our main sewer line back up and I was worried this was going to be very expensive and ruin my walkway and grass.

I called Smart Plumbers and they came out right away.  They cleared the clog inside the house quickly so we could use our bathroom again (thank you!) and then showed me what was causing the back up.  Using their camera system, I could clearly see the roots in my main line.  The manager, Min, used a locator to find the sewer pipe and then suggested a simple, less expensive, more long term fix.  No ruined grass, no ruined walkway and under $2000.

My technician, Frederico, carefully and neatly dug out the old pipe, replaced it and added a new clean out.  He was really great at showing me what was happening along the way.  He was extremely conscientious about my landscaping and did a great job cleaning up.  Thank you Smart Plumbers!

Smart Plumbers and Rooters is the company I recommend to any of my friends or neighbors who need plumbing work done.  We have had excellent experiences with them over the years, including jobs as simple as clearing a plugged drain to the street and as complex as replacing major underground pipework.

I first selected Smart Plumbers after reading through numerous yelp reviews, and I have never regretted that decision.  They are friendly, conscientious, detail oriented, and meticulous. For example, six months after they did re-piping work there were some freezing nights and one of the spigots in yard that they had installed developed a crack and was leaking water.  The plumber named Bobby came out, and cheerfully and quickly replaced the spigot, for no charge!

Bobby previously did an excellent job replacing our water heater over the summer, in addition to some complicated-looking re-piping when one of our main water pipes from the house to the street (which was VERY old) sprung some leaks. He's extremely competent.  I was impressed by how good he was at working with our finicky old pipes.

Smart plumbers are amazing! Had a problem with my shower faucet that kept getting worse and worse. I didn't want call a professional because I was afraid it would be too expensive. Finally I broke down and called smart plumbers, Min came to my house assessed the problem and fixed it in under an hour and best of all the price was a lot less then I was expecting.

I have used Smart Plumbers four times so far. Three for regular drain clog issues requiring using the rooter to clear out clogs. At the last visit, they recommended changing out the P-traps and arms under the tub and shower and also hydro-jet cleaning of the kitchen drain for our 50 year old house.

Well, I called them back and had them do the recommended work. It turns out that the P-trap + arm under the tub was old 1.5 metal pipes and somewhat rusted, however it was not clogged up so much (I visually inspected the pieces after removal).  

The P-trap+arm under the shower were 2 pipes and had been changed out by previous home owner. They were new pipes. The plumber did not tell me this and simply changed them out. That may have been unnecessary work.

These two tasks were quoted over a $1100.

The hydrojet job of the kitchen drain was done well, I expect - I have no way of knowing until the next clog.

I attempted to resolve the issue by calling the owner Mr. Lee. I spoke to a representative (calmly) and was told that Mr. Lee would call me back. It's been two weeks and he has not called me. I would have been OK with Smart Plumbers if they were to simply talk to me and offer some conciliatory service like a coupon or an extended warranty.

I am somewhat disappointed with the what was unnecessary work done by Smart Plumbers (cost me $500 - $600).

I had a great experience with Smart Plumbers.

I was installing new faucets in the master bath when I noticed the angle stop beginning to leak. I called Smart Plumbers and Mike picked picked up the call and came to inspect. He installed a new angle stop that was better quality than the builder grade. Mike also inspected the work I did on the new faucets to make sure they were working properly and that any future leaks would not happen. This lead to Mike walking me through the house and giving me tips and tricks with plumbing that would help me in the future if an incident occurs.

All around, really courteous, fast and responsive. I can trust Smart Plumbers for any plumbing or rooting needs.

Absolutely wonderful. My wife and I moved into our first home and found numerous plumbing problems; including replacing the main water line into the house!

Mike was the plumber for all our needs. Very polite, funny, and professional. Price were given for entire job. No quotes with an estimated hourly rate. The price given is the price paid, no matter how long it takes him.

Example: quoted $1,300 for the water main (60' of copper line) and estimated 4 hours. Actually took him 8 hours but price didn't change. Other plumbers would have charged for the extra time!  

I highly recommend Mike for all your plumbing needs.

I strongly caution against so-called Smart Plumbing, Santa Clara.  They were called-in for a very simple item and expanded it into assorted issues unknown to me -- and dubious at best anyway-- until I got the bill for $800 !!  There are many other reliable and trustworthy plumbing companies that I will call in the future --I will never call Smart Plumbing again.

Came home from school and my water heater was busted with a flooded garage and these guys came and saved the day! 5 stars for a great job

Our house has two big trees that must be 50 years old. I love the shade they provide, but their roots go everywhere, even into our backyard.  

Every year, usually at the worst possible time (Labor Day, Halloween, ...), our sewer line goes crazy. What makes it worst is our main clean out must of been installed by a mad-man. The odds of the rooter cable going up the roof vent pipe vs following the sewer line are 50/50 or maybe even 80/20.

For years we had used Triple A, but their service has been going downhill and we finally had it when they charged us twice for two visits one week apart.

Friends recommended Smart Plumbers so we gave them a call. Alex the plumber showed up to the appointment 10 minutes early (a good sign).  He was friendly, upbeat, professional and patient.  

After multiple attempts getting through the cleanout from hell, we ended up having to go down from the roof vent to clear the line (a real pain!).  It took about two hours and many attempts before success. Throughout the process he stayed pleasant and upbeat.

He used his video camera to troubleshoot our non-functional clean out and to identify the area of root blockage. Smart Plumber prices were very competitive - he charged us their standard fee and didn't penalize us for time spent.  Their video camera cost was 1/3 the price quoted by our old plumber.

After years of suffering, we finally have decided to have our old baked clay sewer line replaced and we will have Smart Plumbers do the job next week. Here too, their prices are very reasonable based on coworker/family experience.  It will be nice to not have to hear the dreaded toilet bubbling sound ever again!

We had an emergency, it's Saturday and the main drain near the street was clogged. It has happened before due to roots. Alex came out. Very Professional, very friendly, and thorough. I say the clog is near the street because we have to deal with this issue regularly on a house built in 1948. He came out and cleared it which was 65 feet from the clean out beside the house. After that he ran a camera and we got to finally SEE the issue (this is why they call themselves smart plumbers). With the new information I have I now can go to the city an request a clean out be placed at the iron to clay junction point where the roots have gotten in. Alex also said he will be happy to come out 1 extra time to clear this issue if needed since the city may take a while to fix the issue. Yes these guys are a little more pricey than the others but not that much and worth it. The prices are set BTW.

We are so happy with our experience with Smart Plumbers & Rooter this morning, especially with Walter Rall, the plumber that did the work. A pipe to our backyard faucet had broken and we had to shut our water off. Walter came and fixed the problem.

We called Smart Plumbers at 6 pm. The woman we spoke to tried to get someone over immediately but wasn't able to schedule anyone before 9:30 am the next day. In the morning, however, they called and said someone would be there between 8 and 8:30 am. Walter showed up shortly after 8 am! He assessed our very difficult situation and resolved the problem quickly and cost effectively. Throughout the repair, Walter explained what he was doing and why.  He even gave me a couple of tips and explained some techniques and processes he was using.

Used Smart Plumbing for unclogging my sewer line and installing a 2-way clean-out. Alex did the job. He was cordial, careful, and explained everything he was doing. I am 100% satisfied with his work.

I recommend Alex/Smart Plumbing.

The owner called me to set up a meeting to talk about my complaints. He even gave me a refund check, so that was satisfying. He gave me some suggestions of what I should do because we both know the problem isn't fixed yet. However, the suggestions are pricey. Even though I'm undecided about what to do, I wanted to update this review because the owner took time to try and help me. At least he cared enough to do so.

Min, the manager, came out today to respond to my service call.   He provided me with guidance as to how to deal with the main issue I was having and also went through the house to verify that everything else was in good working order.  He was very professional, polite and a wealth of knowledge.  You won't go wrong if you call them.

This company is great. Their flat rate pricing is fair and is not charged by the hour.
I have had them out 3 times for three separate issues and have been happy every single time.

Just had Robert here for cleaning the main drain. Very nice guy and cleaned the drain once and ran the snake 2nd time just to make sure.

The Yelpres that are complaining about price, either do it yourself or do not use flat rate service providers. I am sure they gave you a price before they started the job. You did have the chance not to do the work. Now the work is done you are complaining about the money?

Min was AMAZING! He helped us with our kitchen sink. It only took him 5 minutes. He was friendly and helpful and very efficient. Our old plumber never showed up on time and would take an hour or more and he never really fixed our problem. Min is my new hero.

Very, very pleased.  I will call them again should I ever need a plumber again.  Robert was sent to the house and he was very courteous and extremely knowledgable.  I had a great experience with the company.

Most recently, I had a broken bathroom sink drain stopper and two dripping sink faucets.  Richard came out on time and fixed everything quickly -- and with no problems.  He was courteous and explained everything he was doing.   I have used Smart Plumbers on numerous other occasions -- to fix a broken shower faucet and a broken garbage disposal and to replace old sink faucets -- and they have never disappointed.  I highly recommend Smart Plumbers.

My sink was clogged and the kitchen sink including dishwasher could not be used.  The plumber originally called in the afternoon to reschedule but then arrived late anyway.  I was charged too much to clear the sink and replace a pipe under the sink.  The estimate was for two trips, first to clear the sink and next to replace the pipe, which was acceptable because the sink needed to be cleared immediately for family use.  The sink could not be cleared on the first trip, but I was still charged the whole estimate.  The plumbers should have the flexibility to lower the estimate when the work is not done as expected.  The plumber tried to keep the floor clean but kept forgetting to put the little booties he had brought back on whenever he came back into the house.  Overall, the work quality was OK, but the price and customer service left something to be desired.

My kitchen sink was clogging up, so I had Smart Plumbers to come out and fix it.  The service was excellent and the price was reasonable.  I would use them again for any future plumbing problem.

Not so smart or professional. I called to schedule appt and someone answered unprofessionally... I wasn't even sure I was calling a business number!! Why is it so hard to find good service :(

Jin sent Alex out to give me an estimate to re-plumb a new sink after a kitchen remodel. I was stunned when Alex quoted me 1400 plus for the job. But, he said because I was a good customer he would reduce it to 1000!! I called Jin to complain but he never follwed up. I ended up going to Dempster plumbing and had it done for 400. Avoid these folks!

I had a leak in my bathtub and called them Tuesday late afternoon.  Someone came within the hour and by Wednesday morning at 10am, my tub was fixed!  It's been over a month and still, no leak.  The plumber was really courteous, helpful and fast!  Great work and very reasonable cost.

We had Alex from Smart Plumbers come out to install two new toilets and a new kitchen sink faucet yesterday. He said he would be there at 9:00 and was there exactly on time. Even though he encountered a few small problems with one of the toilets and the sink faucet and head out to Orchard Supply for a part he didn't have in his truck, he was done with all the installation and clean-up (including the haul-away of our old toilets) by 12:30.

We called Smart Plumbers, initially, about a month ago and Alex came out to our house to inspect our old toilets and to give us some advice. Even though he came out on a weekend, he didn't charge us for that initial 10-minute visit. We assumed there would be a fee just for showing up and were shocked when there wasn't.

Everything was installed yesterday, so I don't know if we will develop any leaks, etc. but he did give us a 1-year guarantee against any leaks or other problems, so if they do form, they will be fixed for us.

We were very happy with the service we received and feel like we were charged a fair price (the actual charge for the toilet installation was slightly less than his initial estimate).

We used Smart Plumbers & Rooters to install a new water heater. Their service was fast, professional and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

We called Smart Plumbers in and they arrived on time and Richard Ross was the technician that came out. Very courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. We gave them a tough job. A neighbor's redwood tree roots had completely clogged our water drains and were causing backyard flooding. They jack-hammered the patio concrete carefully avoiding other pipes and electrical to get to the drains, put in new ones and refilled the hole.  A very strong rain came soon after and things were dramatically improved. However, we noticed some modest water pooling. We called them and they came back and dug a larger trench for the water to go into at no charge and we haven't had any issues since. They know what they are doing and have integrity.

I had a leak in (I think) my toilet inflow, and I asked my dad to fix it. He chose a method that was probably not the optimal one. At 4:30 on a Saturday he decides he wants me to call a professional plumber. By 5:40 Richard is here. By 6:32 he emails me a receipt for $155 and is gone.

I don't know if these guys are SMARTER than other plumbers, but they are definitely more TECH ENABLED. Their website could use a refresh, but the technicians have iPads which they use to write up estimates, take photos, and send invoices via email. Their methods seem to make sure things are on the up and up, which has definitely not been the case with most of the plumbers I have dealt with in the past.

I was not in a position to get a bunch of quotes or shop around, since this wasn't strictly speaking an emergency but definitely in the extremely inconvenient category, as a result of user error (which Richard went out of his way to make my dad feel not-horrible about), on a weekend day towards the close of business. All things considered I feel that the price was fair and the service was great. Will definitely call Smart Plumbers again.

Called for a backed up sewer line. Robert was on time. Took the time to listen to my description of the problem and appraised me of the options. Cleared the line, helped clean up. Very pleasant to work with.

Very Pleased with their service. He came on time and was willing to stay longer for pg&e to come and turn on the gas so that we can test the heater.

Professional, courteous, and timely. We've used them on many occasions. Perhaps not the cheapest, but they do good work, will come anytime and stand behind their work. Five stars.

I have no idea about plumbing but unfortunately my toilet made very a weird noise every times when I flush. So I called some big plumbing company and they told me to change the piping system under the house. Ok. my house is 60 years old but it was way more expensive than I thought. So I called Smart Plumbers Which I heard from my coworker. Jose came over, checked pipes, and told me that I need to change pipes eventually. However, he also told me the cheaper way to keep it works for a while. At least I have some time to save money.
It works now and I hope it stays like this for years.

This is a great outfit to use in time of need. Joel our plumber was professional and very nice and worked with a sense of urgency. Shauna, the office manager was also great.  she got us in when there was a cancellation and followed up until Joel showed up with our water heater.  she was caring and understanding when our water heater broke loose and spilled down our street.  With our draught you can understand why it was important to have someone take care of this as soon as possible.  Joel and his apprentice worked hard and non-stop and was completed within a few hours.  Joel even made sure the water worked in the house and shower and showed me how to change water temperature.  Besides doing a great job for us, I appreciated their caring attitude towards their customers, especially at a stressful time.  So, thank you Joel, Shauna & apprentice (sorry I didn't get his name).

I have used thsi company several times and we are  happy each time!  The customer service is fantastic and the quality of work is exceptional.  We  have been most pleased with Hyun Min.  He is great! He is very kind, explains everything he is going to do and makes sure you understand what he is doing.  Great service and work by this organization!

Our water heater sprung a leak on a sunday afternoon, and we called SPR. Alex was dispatched out to arrive in one hour and he arrived within thirty minutes. We showed him the problem, he diagnosed it, gave us an estimate (which was wonderful for a sunday emergency issue), and fixed the problem up right away. We highly recommend this company and Alex  was very knowledgeable and honest. He also was very aware of the water issue we had-he kept the job area nice and clean and after he left it was better than new.We also received a call from Alex's manager asking how the  job went..A+ ..thanks alex!!

If you need a plumber, DO NOT call Smart Plumbers & Rooters!!!! One of the worst experiences I've ever had. Our plumber's name was Alex. He was nice, but he will totally rip you off. He left the job incomplete, but asked to be paid and that he would come back to finish the job after he got the parts. We paid him alright, but never saw him again. He never came back to finish the job, but he remembered to cash the check the same day :(

I called another plumbing company first from the Diamond Certified Book Rescue Rooters, what a rip off they are, having quoted me $24,660 for a new drain system which I didn't need and probably never will... I was upset, got rid of them and came in and called Smart Plumbing and Rooting also in the Diamond Certified Book. Alex arrived right on time, determined that I needed to have my house snaked, quoted me $400 and I said go for it! I couldn't be happier with Smart Plumbing and Rooters and highly recommend them to everyone. Alex was efficient, knowledgable, respectful of me and my home, worked so hard snaking my house 3 times to get all of the tree roots out which caused my problem... You are the best and I will definitely be calling you again when I have a need to. Rescue Rooters you should be ashamed of yourself for attempting to rip off a homeowner!

We had an emergency plumbing situation @ our home one early evening and these guys responded within an hour.  Jin Lee and his partner ended up having to remove the entire toilet in one of our bathrooms in order to snake the pipes.  They were fast, competent, clean and even have a 90 day warranty on their snaking services.  Barron Park Plumbing referred them and I have to say we are very satisfied with their service and work.

I have never had to call a plumber before, but would definitely call Smart Plumbers & Rooters again if I had to.  Richard, the plumber,  arrived early (imagine that!), was very knowledgeable, and to top it off--extremely courteous and personable. He finished the job quickly and efficiently and I couldn't have been happier with the experience.

Had Smart Plumbers & Rooters back for a sink faucet installation. Another great job. Responsive. A few minutes early! Decent prices.

They may be OK, but Alex has been here twice in just over a week and we're still having problems. It's time to move on to another company to clean out our drain.

We had a serious water hammer problem. Contacted Jin Lee, sent out Octavio and. Ricardo that same day.  What courteous  and knowledgeable repairmen, not to mention neat. They fixed the problem, we're very generous with advice.  I would not call anyone but this group.

We have had two experiences with Smart Plumbers, both of which were highly satisfying.  The plumbers are professional, creative, and very personable.  We would recommend Smart Plumbers without hesitation.

We contacted the owner with an issue that we had with a repair.  The owner personally came out to evaluate the situation..  He offered to not only fix the problem at no cost but to prevent it from happening again which was not his fault.  They spent a good 4 hours repairing what caused the problem in the first place AT NO COST TO US.  Now I am not saying this would happen to you, but it shows that the owner will stand behind his service and more to keep us happy.   Always ask for Alex as he a true (but very modest) professional!

I ussed Smart Plumbers for the past 5 years. i live in Palo Alto and the tree roots are always the problem. So every 18 months to 2 years I have to call them to clean out. Their price is reasonable and the service is promp and professional. Before their time I used to call Rotor Rooter but they are very expensive then and now.

I had a tough sewer line clog. Smart Plumbers did an excellent job. I highly recommend Smart Plumbers - They are BBB accredited.

Alex with Smart Plumbers did a FANTASTIC JOB!!! He is very honest and a hard worker. I would recommend Alex to anyone!!!

I called this morning at 8:30, and at 10:00 AM Richard was at my house after a 40 plus mile drive! He was excellent! He not only fixed the problem, but took measures to avoid it happening again. He explained everything he was doing step by step and exuded confidence. Just a couple of hours after making the initial call, I was able to use my kitchen faucet. I will always call Smart Plumbers for any plumbing problem!

We had a main line sewer backup and used yelp and checkbook to identify plumbers to call.  Smart Plumber was the only plumbing firm to call us back and they came out quickly to give us an estimate and then were able to fix our main line sewer backup. They were professional and timely.  The work was expensive to me, $450 to clean out the sewer line through the toilet and another $1200 to install a main line sewer outlet but the work was done well and we have had no followup issues.  We did ask for an estimate for another job to be done and the plumber refused to give me a written estimate, only gave me a verbal estimate which appeared to be really high.

I've used Smart Plumbers for years! Most recently they installed two new toilets  for my new home. I ordered the new toilets at Home Depot, Smart Plumbers picked them up for me and installed them. They also moved a gas line for my new oven.  They are  professional in their scheduling and their prices are reasonable. I use Smart Plumbers for all of my plumbing needs.

They did thousands of dollars worth of work at my house last year and I had to call them back a bunch of times to fix their own repairs.  I decided it was not worth trusting the repairs of their own work anymore and have had a different plumber fix literally everything they did. I am a fair person, all I expect is that when you take on a job remodel or repair that it should last a while and not fail so soon.   They replaced pipe plumbing with cheap materials that came apart. There are too many other items to name.  New plumber just shakes his head and replaces everything.  I actually woke up this morning to a flooded kitchen from the work they did when they put in my new sink.  Water was  pouring off the granite counters, it shorted out my new Miele dishwasher, flooded drawers, cabinets, flooded my very expensive Zanella Solid Wood Floors, etc...  don't know the extent of this latest damage yet.  Also, the Smart (?) team of plumbers (may be family members) are hard to understand and communicate with.  I believe they are from Korea. I would never again do business with these guys.  If I had more time on my hands I would gather all their bills together and the bills from the new plumber and sue Smart Plumbers & Rooters.  Still might happen if the floors start buckling!

I can't believe all the 4 and 5 star reviews here...As another reviewer said, the best thing is they come very promptly. We had no choice but to use them to fix our water heater when it stopped working Thursday night before a long weekend. They got $85 Thurs night to light the pilot. At that time, the guy was trying to upsell all the time about replacing the whole unit and talking constantly without being clear that the thermocouple needed to be changed. I am no expert on water heater repairs and was relying on his advice. Next morning the water heater doesn't work again. I call them and they are home within 30 mins. Great...but wait, now the charge is $190 to replace the thermocouple. I ask them if I get a discount because I just paid $85 the night before. The guy gets rude and says they don't work for free. I tried calling around other companies but nobody could come in that weekend. I have a 2 yr old at home and could not go the whole weekend without hot water. So we asked Smart plumbers to come in on Saturday. Now, a new guy shows up who claims to be the water heater expert. He says the first guy gave me a wrong estimate and it is $250 to replace the thermocouple. Basically we paid them $335 to fix something that was probably $150 or less...I would be very cautious before calling them in for anything.

I wouldn't use these guys again. On the plus side, they came promptly. The situation was a sewer pipe that needed cleaning out. I have a short pipe that was just cleaned out two years ago (it gets roots in it), and has a nice new cleanout to the surface. He ran a snake through, didn't find much, but it did get unstuck. I asked him to send a camera through, so we can see what was in there, but someone else had the camera. He came back two days later with the camera, and showed me the roots in the pipe. (Hmm, hadn't I just paid to get those cleaned out?) He then wrote me up an estimate of $3300 to replace the pipe (!). That was outrageous. He offered $2800. He didn't suggest other, much cheaper, avenues. I called the manager to complain. He offered to replace the pipe for much less, but honestly, I didn't feel like working with these guys any more after that. They should have offered to finish cleaning out the roots, which I had paid for, but they did not. Instead, they just tried to upsell me to pipe replacement. And they tried to charge as much as possible. Not okay in my book.
