HISTORY

Established in 1965.
Santa Monica Plumbing and Heating was founded by a local plumber in Santa Monica in 1965. For the first 30 years, they focused on small residences mostly. In the early 1990s, Marco Ramirez, who was an apprentice plumber, gained experience working with all sorts of plumbing and heating projects for SMPH. By the mid 1990s, he took over the business and has since expanded adding residential/commercial plumbing and new construction.

ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

Marco Ramirez graduated from a plumbing trade school in California in 1989.  His first job as a plumber was at Mike Diamond plumbing in Culver City.  In 1992 he acquired his own business license and learned to run and manage a small plumbing company gaining experience in thousands of plumbing and heating projects.  He then began working for Santa Monica Plumbing and Heating and soon there after acquired the business.  Marco runs the business and manages a full team of administrators, plumbers, and contractors.  He is a local resident of Santa Monica and father.  Marco likes to mountain bike, workout, and work on his own construction projects on his free time.

Our kitchen drain was clogged. Marco schedule us for first thing in the morning. Manny and Rudy arrived and quickly took care of the issue and also took care of a leaking dish washer drain line which could have turned into a huge problem. They were very careful and left everything perfectly clean. Excellent job!

We had a main line blockage after 30 years of living in our home. Water was seeping and percolating in house areas where no water had heretofore accumulated.  A repairman named Marco came from SM Plumbing and fixed our problem.  He was polite, knowledgeable and competent.  I recommend him highly.  Although, it was not cheap,  it sure enabled us to continue showering and flushing the toilet.

I may use them again soon to install a new toilet.

Marco, Manny, and Rudy are awesome! They replaced the valves under a bathroom sink and a kitchen sink  - two separate visits and each time, everything ran smoothly. Nora at the office is great too. It's the building's policy that they receive a copy of the plumbing company's insurance. For some reason, other companies aren't willing to provide this. Santa Monica Plumbing & Heating, however, is transparent and helpful and they were willing to provide what we needed to the building manager. Thanks guys! Winning streak so far.

Through the years we have been very pleased with the services provided to us, but recently we became disappointed with the unexpected turn of events. Marco came out on 12/9/21 to fix the backing up of the kitchen sink as well as a slow draining sink in our main bathroom. We paid $325 for this service call. Two days later (12/11/21) we began to notice the same problem in the kitchen sink and waited until Monday 12/13/21 to call again.

His co-workers, Manny and Rudy arrived and worked on the kitchen sink, but they proceeded to blame us for the problem accusing us of emptying coffee grounds (as well as cilantro) down the drain. Both of these statements are inaccurate, and we found these accusations to be unprofessional and irrelevant. After they proceeded to fix the same problem we experienced just a few days before, we were given a bill of $175 which we paid promptly.

After multiple attempts to speak with Marco directly to clarify the billing and discuss the recent visit, we only received one voicemail message with no follow-up.  We have been  satisfied customers until this time, and we always prefer to hire local professionals. Unfortunately, we will no longer be using the services of Santa Monica Plumbing and Heating.

2nd time using Santa Monica Plumbing & Heating, this time for a semi-emergency. My kitchen sink became backed up from the main drain line of the condo and black water started coming up, and began leaking into the unit below. It was horrific. They were able to come same day and fix the problem. They had to cut the trap assembly and snake the drain line.

They were professional, fast, helpful, and did some little extra things like helping clean up the sludge which made the experience much better. Definitely trust these guys.

I highly recommend Santa Monica Plumbing!  We've worked with them for around 10 years and are still happy!  Marco, Manny and Rudy helped us out to fix our toilet that was leaking, changed the fill valve, put in a new flapper, a new flex hose, changed a galvanized pipe and replaced a frozen angle stop.  They were tenacious in their problem solving and came up with a solution so we didn't have to break walls.   We wanted a proper fix and Santa Monica Plumbing did exactly that.  Thank you SMP!

I would not recommend this company.  Terrible customer service and overcharging.  Came out the first time and charged $165 to say he didn't have the part to fix a gas wall heater.  Came out today with the part and charged $489 to install the part. I called and asked why the excessive charge. He replied he had to drive to Culver City to get the part so I was charged for his driving time to get the part.  I asked him how much the part was and he said $250.  He then started telling me how expensive it is to run a company in California.  I told him I would not be using his company ever again.

We were in a jam and needed effective plumbing help fast. We'd discovered we had a mold problem and we needed any & all leaks fixed. (Previously we had hired another plumber but unfortunately we soon learned he had failed to locate/stop all the leaks!) At this point we were very concerned about getting the work done properly and quickly. Marco and his team (including Manny) came by that very day, and correctly fixed the problems. Later on, we also had them replace our ancient galvanized pipes. We felt their prices were fair, and feel confident that their work is done correctly, and also really appreciate they are conscientious about getting the work done in a time-frame that customers would be hoping for. We hope that sharing our successful experience here will be useful for other people finding themselves in need of similar help!

Santa Monica Plumbing & Heating has become our go-to for all plumbing matters.  We have worked with Manny, Marco and Buddy.  Most recently Manny was here to help diagnose a problem with our dishwasher.  He was persistent and thorough and his work allowed us to conclude that we needed to call the appliance repair service because the problem was not with the plumbing.  Knowing that made it possible for our appliance repair person go right to the problem.  Manny was knowledgeable, highly conscientious and a very good communicator.  SM Plumbing & Heating are highly professional and do great work.

Manny and Marco were so helpful dealing with our sump pump issue. I thought it would be a simple fix but we had a huge amount of root in our pipe and it turned out to be a much bigger job than any of us anticipated. Manny is an incredible problem solver and an even better plumber - he also had an incredible team of hard working teammates with him on the job.

Somehow Manny found a way to fix the issue without digging up our entire driveway. I sincerely appreciate their hard work and consideration of my concerns and budget. They explained everything to me and gave me options within my budget that would fix the issue. Also, appreciated Manny and Marco getting it sorted out in a short time frame (not leaving a bunch of holes around our house right before a rainy week) because it took three days instead of the one day that we anticipated (and they had allocated).

I would highly recommend this team. It would have been easy for them to walk away from this tough project once they saw what it entailed or suggest a $25k solution - I have no doubt another company would have done this.

Lastly I should say they did a great job patching the cement (even brushed it to match the old cement) so it looks really nice again. I wish I had used them to begin with and had it all done properly two years ago when we initially put the sump pump in!!

The handful of times I have used this company they have responded very quickly and have made time in their schedule for my repairs, even at the last minute! Manny and Rudy installed a steam unit in our shower and were excellent. They patiently explained all the details of the job and carefully figured out how to get the job done. It was a challenging install since we had an older unit in its place and the new cords were hidden from sight. They were very professional and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them!!!

The toilet was leaking at the washer between tank and bowl, only when flushed so not an emergency.  I was happy that Manny and Rudy were able to do the job the same day, but had a couple of disappointments.  First, I was quoted a price of $895 for the whole job, but when the crew came out to evaluate the situation they realized the water inlet was directly behind the toilet.  I also didn't want an oval toilet due to lack of space in the bathroom.  Marco selected a toilet for the crew that didn't accommodate the existing water shutoff valve and was $89 more, plus I was charged $175 to replace the valve.  It also took at least an hour more than I was originally told.  While I'm happy that the leak is fixed, it's disappointing that professional plumbers have problems with an older building and said it wasn't built to code.  Construction is done to the code existing at that time.  Good points: workers were professional and did the job thoroughly.  Bad points:  Failing to choose fixtures that would work with existing plumbing, and charging more than initial estimate.  I'm also disappointed that the workers don't wear masks; masking is simple and protects workers and customers.

My shower handle stopped working and I could not stop the water from coming out.  These guys came out, shut off my water and assessed I needed a new handle and cartridge. They quoted me $845 (pic attached) to go get the part and replace.  I knew there's was no way it could be that much and told them I would think about it. They were at my house for about 20 mins and charged me $135 to turn off my water and tell me I needed a new handle.  I found someone to do the whole job for $120, less than their service call.  These guys definitely will rip you off if they can.

Work was great and efficient, but I really don't appreciate being taken advantage of and ripped off on the bill. The original estimate was for a significant job in an emergency but they only ended up snaking and clearing a pipe. The bill? $750.

I didn't fight it at the time because I'm renting and the landlord was covering but once the owner explained to me just how insanely overpriced this bill was - about 3x - I had to say something. After all, they did ask me to leave a Yelp review...

I'm not saying I wouldn't recommend them - the work was good - but expect your bill to be heavily inflated.

I found this company on a google search for a local area plumber and spoke with Marco on a Saturday morning.  He was able to schedule me for same day service to repair my master bathroom toilet.  Marco asked the right questions over the phone and came prepared with all equipment needed for my specific toilet model.  He completed the job professionally and answered my questions.   As he could not test the job due to building water shut off,  he stated I could call him after the water was turned back on if the toilet was not working properly which I appreciated.

We were visiting our very elderly aunt in her old house in Santa Monica yesterday.  50 year old gate valve for house water supply was frozen.  Valve broke internally in the closed position when I tried to unfreeze it so no water over the holidays.  Call SM Plumbing & Heating.  Marco came out within an hour.  Coordinated shut off/turn on with the city water department.  He was great.  Professional and excellent workmanship.  Aunt now has water for the holiday weekend.

I called Santa Monica Plumbing & Heating when I realized my backyard was getting completely flooded. Even though I was not an existing customer, Marco called me right away and talked me through turning the water off to the house. He showed up within the hour to asses the situation, and put in a new valve and more secure pipes by the end of the day. And all for less than I was expecting to pay. He was safe and careful throughout.

I will definitely be using them again in the future, hopefully for planned plumbing work, and not for emergencies. Highly recommended.

Since these guys did such a good job with the water heater, we had them back to install new bathroom fixtures! New sink faucets and a whole new bath/shower. This guy Marco is working on my neighbors house, they are out of water so he hooks a hose up to my house to get water, without permission. At around 10 PM the house busts, shooting water all over the front yard of my neighbors front yard and the street, draining it from our property.

This morning he comes to our door, insults my wife and accuses me of cutting his hose. The guy is out of his mind, he insults me threatens to punch me, asking me to step into the street so he can hit me. They are here without a city permit, use old materials that fail and have a terrible attitude. I personally, would stay far away from Marco, and Santa Monica Plumbing and Heating!

None if this is a way to handle a job as a professional.

I will start with the good. They are VERY kind, clean, and timely. They showed up for us in the most urgent situations within 24 hours. BUT, after calling them many times for little fixes on an old house (I'm grateful) and spending lots of money with them I found out there were things they told me needed repairing than were perfectly fine. I was told I need all new pipes under my house, but found out from another plumber I had perfectly fine copper piping and that nothing at all was plumbed wrong under my house. I was told they could not install a kitchen faucet without ripping out some pipes and doing work under my house --NOT TRUE! Most of this under the house work that was explained to me I did not really understand and I was about to spend thousands of dollars because some man/plumbers told me I had in order to install a new kitchen faucet. My new faucet was installed without any issue by another plumber. This plumber took video under the house to show me that all my pipes were connected and I had copper.

On more than one occasion they asked me when I planned to remodel my old house and or bathrooms. I said the first time ha !yes ,I know its an old place, hopefully soon.... Asking a customer repeatedly about a remodel is shaming as well and none of your business. If the plumber does not want to work on an old place , just say no. After being screwed over by other plumbers I spoke to a family friend who is a plumber. He told me many plumbers did not go to trade school and that some times these quotes and thoughts are just ill-informed plumbers with a lower level of skill. They should just work on new houses and installs. I hope that is they case here, but I was ripped off more than once.

I called them to come out to fix my garbage disposal and they were very quick! the guys who came out were so nice and friendly, but once they were here their boss called and tried to charge me $495 when he had only quoted me $225. the guys were apologetic for the change and cleaned up then left cause i didn't wanna pay double what i was quoted, but i felt bad for his employees that came all the way out here! overall, nice employees but tried to charge me double!

Last week the drain in one of my bathrooms was clogged. It had happened to me in the past and I knew it was a job that required a rooter to clear out the drain. Obviously I don't have one so I called Santa Monica Plumbing and Heating, based on their yelp reviews.

Two guys came out that day to give me an estimate. The entire drain is exposed in my garage so there was no complex digging or work that had to be done. They took a look, called their supervisor to sign off on the work and they gave me an estimate.

Their cost: $650 to unclog the drain...

I told them it was too much, I had to pay $100 just for coming out and I immediately called someone else for a 2nd opinion. That company (Google, Team Rooter) came out, fixed the issue in 15 minutes and charged me $65 for the entire job.

If you have a simple plumbing issue and don't want to dip into your 401(k) to get it solved, call someone else.

I have used Santa Monica plumbing and heating multiple times and am always super impressed with the team here. Most recently, I was able to schedule a same day appointment despite a rainstorm, Manny and Armando showed up on time and were incredibly professional, efficient and helpful. In addition to fixing multiple plumbing issues super quickly and cleanly, Manny went out of his way to explain the cause problems and give me tips on how to prevent them in the future. Highly recommend!!!

They were polite on the phone, prompt to the appointment, and the helper was nice.

Marco was not friendly and seemed annoyed when I asked him to cover his shoes before entering.  He wanted $250 for the first hour after he moved the rag on the kitchen floor, before any job had started.  I said the lady quoted $99 for estimate.  He then said it depends on how complicated the job would be going from $150 to $200.  That seems like a classic bait and switch to me.

He also wasn't very helpful in explaining what was causing the slow drainage.  He justified his price by having to move equipments and clean up the mess.  I reminded him that's what other plumbers do.  He wore his shoes in the kitchen in the end anyways.

I've had about five plumbers come by and this is by far the worst experience.  The problem to me is mainly Marco's attitude.  Definitely will not repeat.

The responsiveness of this company is incredible. We entered our medical office this Monday morning to find our sink pipe had  been leaking, creating a total mess when we had patients to see shortly. Within 30min Manny and Rudy showed up and assessed the leak, ran some diagnostic tests, and determined the cause of the problem as well as an appropriate solution. These two men were tremendously respectful and knowledgeable, making the stressful experience much more manageable. Manny and Rudy knew there stuff and worked promptly to ensure we could have the medical office up and running in as soon as possible. Definitely satisfIed with the services.

Very impressed with the professionalism of this team! The receptionist was prompt to answer my questions and even called me the day of my appointment to let me know a plumber was on his way. When Marco arrived he was courteous, professional, and friendly! My pup is always timid with strangers and even though she was barking he took the time to let her sniff him out and pet her so she would feel more at ease. Marco installed my garbage disposal in less than an hour, and left ZERO mess!! He even disposed the old one for me. Thank you SM Plumbing for the best customer service and a speedy installation; definitely recommend using this team for your plumbing needs, and I will be using them again in the future!

SCAMMERS. 2 med arrived. My husband showed them the problems, kitchen sink clogged, toilet backed up and black fluid flowed out of the tub. They went down to look at the wrong garage and called me on their cell phone to tell me it's the main pipe. I told them the main pipe is in the roof. They said they will not climb a roof and will have to rip out the toilet to find the problem. We send them away because they were not here to work but to scam us.

Everyone I dealt with from Nora (the scheduler) to the plumbing team (Manny, Rudy, and Armando) went above and beyond. They were pleasant, patient, and considerate.

Nora was incredibly proactive by not just calling to let me know they would be running late (a pleasant surprise!), she took the time to determine how many bathrooms I had (one) and made sure I would be taken care of that day. I didn't have to point this out. (I guarantee I would have had to do that with other plumbers.)

Manny, Armando, and Rudy showed up early, solved the problem I identified, identified additional emerging issues, fixed them, helped with an impromptu faucet issue I pointed out. Simply put, they were rock stars.

Santa Monica Plumbing and Heating will be my go to plumbers going forward.  I am so grateful I found them.

This plumbing company is amazing!! They are the most reliable, professional team of people I have seen from a plumbing company. They have come out to my place three times in the last few months. The first time I had an emergency leak in the back yard and they come out at 7:30am (after hours) as soon as I called. Then I had a toilet issue and I called, e-mailed a picture of my toilet, and they were at my house within 2 hours with all of the right parts. Then today, I had a leak in the kitchen and they were here in a couple of hours of me calling. Manny and Ali came every time and are the best! They found the issues quickly and efficiently and fixed everything. They were courteous, professional, and wore masks. The best thing about Santa Monica Plumbing is they are RELIABLE. Someone always answers and bend over backwards to schedule you that day! I will never work with another plumbing company again!!

At first everything seemed fine.  After fixing the broken water pipe I asked them to install an acrylic tub, but It was set off center causing the walls not to line  up. The workers let the cement dry for over an hour before setting in the tub, so it did not settle properly and is not completely supported. Every time I use it I get very sad, as I contacted the company immediately during the install that it was wrong.  Lesson learned - Use them for Plumbing but not for Construction.

Around 2pm we had a pipe burst in the ceiling of a downstairs hallway. I called my usual plumber, but he was out of town on vacation. He recommended that I call SMP&H. The guys at SMP&H were able to get to my house by 515pm for an emergency repair. Manny & Rudy were able to find the pinhole leak and replace the pipe and finish their work by 620pm. Excellent work.

We have used Santa Monica Plumbing & Heating for many years now and every job they have been able to solve our problems quickly and efficiently.  
They have done very small fixes to extremely large fixes (i.e. flooding and broken pipes) for us.  Every time they have been on time and their staff is polite and they clean up after themselves.  Manny and Armando usually come to our calls and those two couldn't be nicer.  
As a small business we appreciate their dedication to their business.  There is a lot of competition out there but these guys are consistently the best!

My laundry backed up and leaked all over the floor.  So, Santa Monica Plumbing to the rescue.  Manny and Rudy came, first thing this morning.  They checked my washer, snaked the line, gave me great advise, looked around and double checked, explained everything.  Sometime plumbing problems are complicated.  Manny and Rudy did a great job making me feel comfortable and taken care of.
DEFINITELY calling them again if/when I have another problem.

Other plumbers only gave me vague proposals compared to Santa Monica Plumbing which gave me a written proposal which was actually less as didn't need everything, totally honest and reliable. I booked Santa Monica Plumbing & Heating to help remove a blockage in a shared pipe in the kitchens between two units in a condo. Nora was very polite and helpful during the booking process and made me feel very comfortable with their service.

Unfortunately, on the day of my job, they were unable to make the appointment as scheduled and had to meet me the next morning. This was a bit upsetting, but Nora worked with me to make sure my needs would be met as soon as possible.

Marco and one other gentleman came out to do the service call. They were great. Everything went smoothly. They were courteous and professional, and the situation was resolved in about one hour. I will definitely call them again for my next plumbing need.

When Do-It-Yourself plumbing repairs go wrong-call these guys!!!

While trying to replace a shower cartridge I snapped it off in the wall and was left without water in the whole house. Manny came out the same day and fixed it right up. It wasn't the easiest task but he was professional, fast and very neat.

Fast forward a week later and the water pressure in the shower was minimal at best which was not normal. Thinking that it was something to do with the new cartridge, I gave them a call. Manny came once again, took everything apart and tested the cartridge. It turns out the issue was my shower head. Amazingly enough, they didn't charge me for the call.

If you are looking for a plumber, look no further. The service doesn't get any better than Manny and the crew at Santa Monica Plumbing and Heating!

Wow!! Our business couldn't have been more blessed to come across Santa Monica Plumbing & Heating. We were in quite the pickle and needed someone to come to our business right away (ON A SATURDAY!!!) for an emergency... Marco was so kind on the phone and they got here in no time!

We had appointments booked back to back and needed to maintain a serene environment, Marco and his team were exceptional! They were fast, efficient and were extremely conscientious of their noise level to assure us that business would not be interrupted. Which I cannot praise and thank enough! When I called this service they told me it was going to be $99.00 to clear the kitchen sink drain. When the plumber came over, the price wasn't $99 to clear the drain, it was $99 to diagnose the problem and $275 for the first hour and $150 for each hour after that.  We told the plumber that the issue was not under the sink, but the pipe under the house, accessible from the clean out on the side of the house.  Without diagnosis, he took 20 minutes to clear the pipe with a snake.  The total visit took less than 30 minutes for $275.  That's an outrageous cost for less than 30 minutes work.  Stay away!!

I can not praise Santa Monica Plumbing enough. From the angel I spoke to on the phone who helped me make my same day appointment to the technicians Marco and his assistant who showed up to fix our problem. Extremely professional, on time, fixed the problem immediately with our hot water heater, were extremely neat and clean while they worked and efficient.
From using multiple different plumbing and services companies and being taken advantage of I am SO thankful to have found Santa Monica Plumbing.

My shower has been lukewarm so I called SM Plumbing. The receptionist is very nice and sent someone over within 2 hours. The service tech, Manny, was excellent. He discussed the problem with me and explored the options going forward. I'll be calling on them again when I decide if I want to replace the whole shower system.

I called another plumbing service to come and fix a problem we've been having with a terrible smell coming from the bathroom, but the other plumber came in and said nothing was wrong and just clean out the pipes in the bathroom. Manny and Fransisco came out and went through every possibility of what could be going wrong and found out exactly what was wrong and fixed it.

There was a timing conflict and they ended up showing up late but gave us the estimate for free! Very happy with the service and will be hiring them again.

This my third update - it has been awhile - but these folks are amazing!
Best office staff - best plumbers!  

We have an apartment building in Santa Monica and managing something like a plumbing problem from  distance can be one of the most frustrating experiences.  I call - I tell them the issue - they arrange time with tenant - show up on time  - do the work and done!

We have never had a tenant complain about the work - in fact they thank us profusely for attending to issues so fast! THANK YOU!

Okay, they were courteous.

I had a clogged drain and we set up a time between 1-3PM during the week day. I took the day off. I got a call at 3:10 PM saying that they couldn't make it. They suggested I reschedule something in 2 days. I said thank you but I would try my luck somewhere else.

They called back 5 minutes later and said they could be there in 10 minutes. I said okay. They showed up almost an hour later.

They said they had to replace existing plumbing under the sink that has worked fine and was not clogged. They finished everything. Then later that day I discovered that there was a huge leak under the sink. They couldn't come back the same day to fix the crappy plumbing job that was worse after they left than before they got there. The only way to get them to show up the next day was to have them come over at 7AM when my family is getting ready and using the kitchen.

Bad experience and way over priced. Will not use them again.

Called this morning at 10:30am and told the gentleman on the phone that I had an urgent issue. I asked if he could be here quickly and he said he could be here in less than an hour. After an hour I called and he said would be here in 20 minutes. So he finally comes over an hour later. At this point it's been 2.5 hours and he said he could be here in less than an hour initially. No apology for being late.
I have two clogged drains, one in the kitchen which was very bad. He quoted $400 for the first hour and $150 for the second. His reason for the cost was that he had to vacuum the water from the sink and bring his tools in. Seriously??
So crappy of you to waste my time and have no sense to apologize when I brought it up. Especially after I told you I needed someone quickly. Well more time wasted finding someone else. No way I'm giving you my money.

I called Santa Monica Plumbing at 2:30 PM when my garbage disposal stopped working and instead started bubbling water (and food) back up into our sink. Immediately I was greeted on the phone with kindness and professionalism, and Santa Monica Plumbing sent Manny over within the hour. Manny was incredibly great - explaining the process to us and what had probably gone wrong. It wasn't actually our garbage disposal that was clogged but rather our drains, which is a much harder problem to fix. Regardless of this, Manny stayed and made sure everything got done and we are so incredibly grateful. He also left the kitchen spotless. Thank you Manny!!! Such a great team and we really do recommend them for everyone!

It was a stressful morning with a leak in the house and my other plumber bailing but I am so glad that he did so I could have the chance to work with the excellent crew at Santa Monica Plumbing.

Starting with Nora, who was kind, courteous and extremely helpful in accommodating my tight schedule even with the short notice. Next up Marco and his partner arrived promptly and got right to work. They explained what needed to be done and finished the work effectively and with high quality.

I'll be calling them for my future needs and will be recommending them to all my friends as well!

I hired them for a leaking shower/tub. The scheduler warned me if they couldn't fix it they would charge a $100 for the visit anyway. My wife was home with a newborn and they told her it was fixed and she paid them $265 without checking to verify. When I got home, I realized it wasn't fixed and called them back. They came back and tried to say it was fixed when they left 3 hours earlier and that they would only refund me $40 of the original amount and were rude. To recap - they couldn't fix it (although the next day I got a handyman who could), they lied about fixing it, and they charged more than they said they would for a failed repair.

These guys are THE BEST. I moved into a house last summer that had a million problems with it when we moved in. As a result, we've had over 30 different repairmen here in the past 9 months and Manny and Rudy (Santa Monica Plumbing) are the ONLY ones who have ever truly fixed things right! Everyone else i've worked with just does band aid fix after band aid fix so we keep having to call them back (total scam), but not these guys!! They even noticed a major water leak on the property that was costing us $1000's of dollars in annual water bills (and wasting tons of LA's precious water) and managed to fix it that same day. These guys are honestly awesome, and I genuinely appreciate the work they do. Thanks Manny and Rudy!!

I would recommend Santa Monica Plumbing and Heating to anyone. Marco was just here at our 225 Arizona office in Santa Monica. He was on time, friendly and the work is completed and in excellent order. Our business has been using Marco and Santa Monica Plumbing for years. They are top notch and the only go to plumber we call. Nora is amazing as well when she takes your call and you feel you are actually cared about. That is rare nowadays.

Marco and his crew are very knowledgeable and honest.  We have used these guys for the last ten years and they always get it right.  They always give us options of different ways and costs of solving the problem and are quick to point out simple fixes that would be less expensive.  We have used them for late night, early morning and just before a party emergencies as well as the usual things that come up.  When there is a clog or no hot water, we always call SMPH.  Nora is great at coordinating appointments and getting call backs etc.   Great communication. These guys always come through for us.  No, we're not related to this company.  I'm writing this review because we're using them again this week and the negative reviews are just not and never have been our experience in ten years of working with Marco, Nora and the crew.

Manny has serviced my business multiple times now and he has never been less than exceptional.

Every time I call the dispatcher they are helpful and accurate. My wait times are never misquoted and I'm never left in the dark.

When Manny arrives, he walks you through what he sees, what he thinks needs to be done, why, and follows it all with a time estimate.

When he's finished, he shows you everything he did, what was wrong with the old plumbing, and makes sure you're happy with what he has done before he leaves.

I have been a loyal customer for years. Marco, the owner, is a wonderful and honest person and his company always does great work. Marco is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! I called him on Monday September 16 and we talked about changing an angle stop for my kitchen sink. The price he quoted me seemed high but I didn't care because of the MOSTLY good reviews he has on yelp. Since I live in a high rise building I told him I need to give 72 hour notice to cut off the water to two floors of my building so we scheduled the appointment for that Thursday at 10 am. His secretary called me Wednesday to confirm. Thursday at 10:30 am I call his secretary Nora to find out if he was coming.  She put me on hold, said she could not find him, said that I would receive a call when she did. At 11 am he calls me, obviously from his truck, but I could not make a word he was saying because it was all garbled. After several calls back and forth he calls back and now I can understand what he is saying.  He wants me to take a photo of the broken angle stop to see if he has a spare in his truck.  That surprised me because an angle stop is a small part. He said he would arrive shortly. When I asked him why he did not ask for the photo when we discussed the job three days ago his response was I'm human. I goofed up.  My building cannot be without water until he gets his act together so I cancelled and got somebody else who did a great job at 60 % of the price.

This is my second time using Santa Monica Plumbing. Marco, Manny and Armando are great. This time they moved our washer and dryer from the garage into a closet inside the house that used to hold the boiler. From ripping out the old ducting from under the house, to running the new dryer vent, piping and installing the washer and dryer - everything was done neatly and professionally.

Call Marco this morning (Saturday) with an emergency. He said he was swamped and could maybe get over between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. He called at 2:00 and said he was on his way. I caution you to not use this man.  He tried to sell me a heater I did not need and then installed two bad thermostats.  When I tried to get him to fix the second one, he gave me a bad attitude and was just plain nasty to me.   I am sure there are other more qualified people in our city.

I had a kitchen sink stoppage and called for service. Santa Monica Plumbing was able to send plumbers out almost immediately. There was an extra charge because it was after hours. Manny and Armando came and cleared out my sink and pipes and left everything very clean. They did a great job and are very nice.

I called Santa Monica Plumbing out to fix a slow draining toilet. A shout out to Manny and Armondo for doing everything they could to get it back in top forum. Unfortunately, the unit will need to be replaced, which I'll schedule with SM Plumbing for a later date. But kudos to them for their professionalism, cleanliness, and for trying every option to get it working *before* advising a replacement. I hope Manny and Armondo are sent out for the install.

We've used SM Plumbing several times, and they are prompt, efficient, and fairly priced. I called yesterday, and today Manny & Rudy came and replaced the entire corroded/leaking pipe system under our kitchen sink inside 2 hours, and swapped out a toilet flapper with one that will conserve water. I'm thrilled to have a neighborhood plumber we can trust!

These guys are fantastic!! We had a MAJOR plumbing issue in an old house that needed immediate assistance. After finding out that our landlord's plumbers weren't available, Santa Monica Plumbing & Heating came to our rescue! From scheduling with Nora to the service itself with Manny, Rudy and Armando, this team turned a nightmare situation into a dream! Everyone was lovely--kind, efficient and knowledgeable. Within an hour and a half of calling our problem was solved! I manage a building in Santa Monica. We had an overflow which resulted in snaking two units.
Marco was on it and dispatched his guys within 2 hours. They were actually early.
Manny and Ignacio were amazing, informative and professional. Manny checked out the pipes in the garage as well as under the sinks (the previous plumbers didn't bother to do)  They got the job done. Problem fixed. We will definitely be putting Santa Monica Plumbing & Heating on our HOA vendor list for future issues and maintenance.

Marco arrived to my house promptly after an emergency call in the rain. He was clear about all my options to repair my shower's outdated handle and was able to provide a temporary repair for a project that requires tearing the tile down. Next, he was able to detect the plumbing issue pretty quickly and got his crew on it right away.

I have been using Santa Monica Plumbing for years.  This time my washer leaked some water.  I didn't know if it was the washer or a backed up drain.  Manny came to check it out.  He was very patient and persistent, snaked out the drain, tested the washer three times with no leaking.  I've already done several loads leak free.  BTW... Lenora is great over the phone.  She is the scheduler.  This time I blew it.  My phone was on vibrate and I didn't hear it, but she was persistent and got to me via email.  Will definitely use again.

We needed to secure a leaky 1/4 fridge water line. The previous owner left the pipe with no shut off valve. Manny arrived on time, addressed the issue, and did a thorough inspection of all the pipes in the house before starting any work. The quote was reasonable and he explained to me exactly what he was going to do. The pipe was fixed and shut off valve installed, making it completely secure.

I will call this company again for future plumbing issues.

Nora was so sweet and helpful in booking an appointment to have a water heater installed for us today. I couldn't be happier that Marco and Rudy came out to help replace our 11-year old water heater about an hour after I called! Fast and excellent service is what you can expect from this company. It was mid-day when I called SM Plumb,  this was after another plumbing company was not able to get the repair done. I had guests coming and I told Nora that I was desperate. She shoe horned  me into their schedule, and Marco was at my door at 2:00. He immediately diagnosed the problem and set to work resolving the issue. Problem solved!!! If you read the negative reviews, as this will be, there is a clear pattern.  You have a minor issue (clog, leaky pipe, etc) Marco and SMP&H are helpful, efficient, and you think, Awesome, this will be done with a minimum of hassle.  However, when he gets there he will either try to up-sell you on a repair vastly more expensive or charge an insane amount for a minor part.  You know how you take your car in for repairs and you aren't quite sure if you are getting a bad deal because you don't know for sure if the mechanic is telling you the truth?  This is worse.  If you say no to the charges or up-sell, the efficiency and helpfulness vanish and he becomes aggressive and insistent - and might not actually do the repair.  

We called for a clog of one toilet and an evaluation of a wobbly toilet.  After the $99 house call fee, the one toilet flushed slowly, and he actually broke our wobbly toilet removing a bolt and making it unusable - we were left over the weekend without a working toilet in the house.  Marco was insistent that the wobbly toilet was cheap and he could replace for $350 + $99 house call - which we declined.  He was also insistent that the clog was in the main drainage system even though the bathtubs, sinks, dishwasher and other toilet were draining just fine, and that would cost ~$600 for them to bring the equipment to open up the pipes in the backyard (we did need that done a year ago - but you know that because nothing drains well - this time, just the one toilet - the toilet was clogged, not the pipes).   We called 4 hours after Marco left the first time because the toilet clogged the first time it was used.  72 hours later, they did come back to re-snake the one toilet and demanded $75 in cash, all the time insisting the nanny (who was out of the house), my child (who was in preschool the entire time) and my cleaning lady (who didn't work that day) must have re-clogged it.  Personally, I think he left our one toilet broken and the other partially unclogged so we need emergency repair of both toilets over the weekend.   We went out of town and hired another plumber who replaced the wobbly toilet and left both bathroom floors cleaner than when Marco had been there.  Yes - did I mention, Marco and his 2 other guys (3 people, 1 clog - a proper business cannot bring that much help to a simple service call and still stay in business if they aren't making a killing on the margins) left the toilets and floors disgusting, bolts and rust everywhere, dripping toilet water on the floor.   At the same time he was demanding more money for the repair that wasn't actually repaired, he kept insisting we should have him replace the toilet and do the external work on the drains.  So $175 for him to snake 1 toilet.  

So, if you want a pleasant experience - you are going to pay way more than any reasonable person should and likely get a whole lot of work done that you don't actually need.  Or, save yourself (a lot of) money and call someone else.

Our kitchen sink backed up and shares a line with the neighbor.  Since they are shared their was no way to snake the line using a normal method through the drain.  Santa Monica plumbing sent in their seal team of plumbers, Manny and Roguilio!  They arrived before their scheduled time, and were in and out before I even knew what happened.  They were professional and informative about the issue and their solution.  I would definitely call them again.

This is the second time I have used this plumbing service, very impressive.  Manny and Armonda are very thoughtful and smart, as they go about trouble shooting issues.  I had an issue under my sink, and long story short, it looked like they had to turn off the water for my 12 unit building to fix the issue.  Instead they found a way to fix my problem without disrupting my neighbors.  I had to call back the next day because I thought my dishwasher had a related issue.  Turns out, it was fine, and they gave great advice on how to install my new dishwasher while they were at it.  

I never give Yelp reviews, but was glad to have the opportunity to share this one.  Highly recommend for Santa Monica plumbing.

I had an issue with the gas lines to my dryer leaking. Manny was able to find and fix the problem immediately. He was in an out in under half an hour.

An added bonus was that the company was on top of timing changes. Unlike companies that don't even call after missing their windows to show up, these guys called me hours ahead of time to let me know there might be a slowdown with another job and they'd keep me posted. They called later and gave me a 30 minute window so I wasn't stuck waiting all day.

Great customer service and great work. I highly recommend Santa Monica Plumbing and Heating.

We've used these folks twice now, and they've been awesome. I'm cleaning out my mom's condo in Santa Monica, and in a rush, we had Marco come out in March to take care of a bad supply valve in the kitchen, and he replaced it quickly and cleanly. In April, Manny and Armondo came out to install two new toilets, and in their inspection identified some bad lavatory sink taps as well. I'm really glad we got them replaced... the original installers from 20-ish yrs back never properly seated the valves, and they barely had any crimp pressure holding them on the water supply lines. Manny & Armondo did a wonderful job, and even went as far as labeling our shut-off valves in the garage for future reference at our request.

I called this morning at 8:45 am with an emergency.  My main was backing up.  Nora was so kind and efficient.  She immediately got Manny and Armando out to my house.  They quickly found the main and worked  until it was running perfectly.  Manny then cleaned my bathtub with chlorox, which I thought was extra thoughtful.

Love these guys - I have an old gas floor heater and my thermostat went kaput! so many places I called said that they couldn't deal with a gas floor heater. Not these guys. I had a leaking pipe in the basement. Manny and Armando arrived on time, quickly identified the problem, as well as why it happened (the angle of the pipe was apparently a bit forced by whoever set it up). They gave me a quote (very reasonable), and made it so the pipe was at a less stressed, natural angle to prevent a similar problem from happening in the future. Manny also answered my questions about some other potential leaking, and suggested a course of action (as it is an HOA concern). All around great experience, and would definitely recommend! We recently added an automatic earthquake shut off valve (I know), and Marco gave me a quote over the phone from pics I sent.  He was the only plumber who did.  His crew also came out twice, no charge, to check the situation and explain how they could do the work.  I chose them based on their trustworthiness and friendly manner.  Manny and Rudy did the work and they did an amazing job.  They're hard working and very professional.  I will always use SM Plumbing whenever I need work, which is often given the house is 97 yrs old.

Contracted these guys based on yelp reviews.  Should have read a little further to spot the problem areas because there's definitely a pattern.  First we called to have a drain snaked and faucet replaced.  They came out and snaked the drain just fine.  Kind of expensive, but whatever it needed to be done.  The issue was what they did with the faucet.  The original head had broken from inside, so we had it temp bonded to hold up till we could have it replaced.  When we showed it to the guy, he pulled it apart no questions or game plan as to how it would continue to work again if we didn't have an immediate replacement.  It's a specialized faucet so not something you can pick up at any store.  I told him we're a spa an need the faucet working for clients to use, he said he'd glue it back together until I could get a new faucet ordered and ASSURED me it would stay glued for several weeks.  It came unglued the next day and we had to use it like that for two weeks until the new one came in.  When I called to follow up and see when they could come out to put on the new one, the owner let me know I would have to pay $99 for the visit and then quoted me $260 to put the faucet on.  I  explained HIS guy was who took it apart the faucet and left it broken.  I asked him if he would kindly waive the fee and just allow me to pay $99 to finish the repair itself since we already paid them for 1/2 the service and this was just a follow up call.  Gave me some spill about needing to pay payroll and sending his guys out for $99 would not be worth it to him.  He also declined all responsibility for his guy taking the faucet apart and then proceeded to mansplain how he does business, like I was some silly woman asking for unrealistic requests.  I said thanks but no thanks, I'll find someone else.  Yet his guys show up on the appointment day anyway?  I thought oh great, they decided to honor the rate and finish the work.  Nope.  The guys didn't know the appointment was cancelled, interrupted my staff's work to hash it out with their boss. I asked if they could just take care of the faucet since they already made the trip out, everything was purchased and all they'd need to do is just put it on for us.  They said not unless we pay them $260, they were leaving.  And so they did.  Leaving us with the broken faucet and no concern whatsoever.  Thankfully the other company I called happily came out for $135 and fixed a couple other issues too at no additional charge.  Please see my reviews to see the other company we went with for a more positive experience.

Had SMPH come by to fix several faucets between a bunch of bathrooms in our office in downtown Santa Monica. Didn't give five stars because we had to haggle on price but I'm glad they were willing to work with me. They were more expensive then other companies that quoted me but they also did the work in about 1/3rd the time the other companies quoted me. In a super busy office of 100 people, getting the bathrooms in working order was solid gold. Manny and Rogelio were my technicians and did a great job.

I can't say enough about the quality of work Manny provides. He is thorough in his initial analysis, and very adept at quickly determining the root cause of a problem and finding a solution. He always leaves a work job complete and better looking than when he arrived! Always punctual and with a great attitude for excellent customer service!!
Marco is fair with prices and his team has done everything from installing a water heater, stacked washer in dryer (in a small space), installing a line for the refrigerator water dispenser, fixing old floor heaters, and remodeling a bathroom.

Surprised by the positive reviews here after my experience.  
First they set up a 2 hour time window to show up and were late by over an hour.

I had a sink hose that had gone bad and needed replacing.  The plumber who finally arrived said it would cost $375 to replace it.  I asked for a breakdown for the cost of the part and the labor and was told that it is not the way they do things.  He just said that it was the cost his boss who was offsite gave him. I told them that I was not comfortable with that.

His boss Mark called me soon after and after asking directly he admitted that the part cost $125 and the rest would be labor.  

I just looked it up and The part is $48 on Amazon - $90 at Snyder Diamond and involves attaching with a wrench at both ends.  A total of about 5 minutes of labor (and I'm being generous) is involved. Mark has already charged me a trip charge of $125 to identify the part (I could have easily emailed him a photo) he then wanted to charge another $125 to come back and the $125 for the part.  $375 for a 5 minute job and a $40 part.

I'm all for fair charges and appropriate labor costs but this is a job that could have been diagnosed on the phone - the part identified and the labor completed in a fair and timely manner.

There are many other good and fair plumbers out there.  I would encourage people to look elsewhere - I certainly am going to.

Had a hot water flow issue with my touch-less kitchen faucet. First called my handyman to investigate but he didn't have any luck in finding the source of the issue. Looked for a local plumber and found SMP&H, scheduled an appointment for 9AM with Marco later in the week. When 9AM soon became 9:35AM with no call or text from SMPH I texted Marco if he was still showing, within a couple of minutes someone from SMPH called telling me ETA would be next 2-3 hours and they would call me when the plumber was 20-30 minutes away, okay that's fine.

Well 30 minutes later get a call that Manny is on his way, ETA 15-20 minutes. Sure enough Manny is on time and very courteous. Manny got to work and was friendly, informative on what he's doing, basically explaining as he went along. Diagnosed that the middle screen was clogged with debris and cleaned it out. Reassembled the faucet and even had recommendations for my tankless water heater. Manny gets 5 stars but SMPH should get 4.5 stars because it would be nice to inform your customers that 9AM is not the actual appointment time but a suggested time, just let me know what the appointment window is. But I'm feeling generous and rounding up. Thanks Manny and SMPH.

I've called these guys a few times this winter, and they are fantastic. They came to the house over Thanksgiving weekend to fix my heater, then they came to fix the hot water heater. First I want to say that Manny and his assistant are great.  They are courteous and helpful and they get the job done.  I have no gripe with the service.  

My problem with this company is with their treatment of repeat customers.  I have been using them for several years now and I recently had them out to do some yearly preventative work on my sinks. I was not aware that this did not include making sure that the overflow drains were working properly.   When I called them back to inquire about this, their receptionist would not give me a straight answer as to whether or not there would be a charge.  She kept on saying that they would have to come out to see.  So...they came out to see and were not able to fix the problem.  Manny called the owner (Marco) to see if there would be a charge and needless to say, there was.  $100 for them to come look at something they didn't look at the first time, poke at it and tell me they couldn't fix it!  I tried to reason with Marco but he insisted that because they had to come and park and look at the sink it was a $100 dollar job.  

Despite being a return customer they still charged for a pointless service call.  Unfortunately they seem to me more concerned about a couple of dollars than they are about loyal customers.  

I'm sorry Santa Monica Plumbing, but I will be looking for someone else to service my plumbing needs.

Our tankless water heater exploded in a rush of water and we needed to replace it fast.  We called four or five other plumbers and they either couldn't take our work in a reasonable amount of time or didn't answer our calls.  Santa Monica Plumbing took the job and they sent out Manny and Armando to evaluate our situation.  They were able to diagnose, order and install an entirely new water heater, water lines, filter and gas lines all within the same day!  This was not a small job.  All throughout the process Manny instilled confidence in his knowledge and honesty.  Manny and Armando were professional and polite.  And, the work they did looks great (the way they reran all the new piping is a clean work of art!).  These guys clearly care about their work and their customers.  Thanks!

I used SM Plumbing & Heating for the first time today.  My previous plumber of 30 years recently retired so I was a little anxious about starting with someone new.  Manny arrived with Armando and I showed  them the problem which was low water pressure throughout the house related to flushing the toilet.  After checking on a couple of things out on the street and around the exterior of the house, Manny confirmed his first thought as to what was causing the problem - which was the filter attached to my water softening unit - and was able to bypass the troublesome filter and the problem was solved.  Manny even took the trouble to draw me a diagram so I fully understood what had taken place.  This was a very positive experience and I feel confident I will be using SM Plumbing and Heating in the future.

While I wish I could have experienced the amazing 5 star service that everyone else claims to have had, I didnt really experience any service at all.

I called on 4 seperate occasions trying to schedule one of their technicians to come out and work on someting at the house and it never happened. They just gave a different reason each time as to why they couldn't schedule something at the moment.

Marco Ramirez came by my apartment today to hook up this two in one washer and dryer to the kitchen sink, upon meeting him he was extremely kind and having him there was pleasant as if he was a neighbor over doing a favor. He did a fantastic job getting everything set up and even helped us moved the other appliances back rather than just leaving when the job was done! I needed two toilets in my house replaced. I had already bought the toilets at Home Depot and just needed someone to install them. I looked online to find a plumber and came upon this place's positive Yelp reviews. And I am happy to say they are as good as everyone says. When I called on the phone, someone nice immediately answered, and I was able to get an appointment the very next day with a two-hour window. At the time of the appointment, they called ahead to say they were on their way. And when Manny and Armando arrived, they were professional, knowledgeable and meticulous. I'm not sure how they compare cost-wise to other plumbers, and I probably could have had the job done less with a handyman, but I feel like I really got my money's worth. They knew their stuff. I feel like I could trust them to deliver a baby. And they hauled my old toilets away. So yes, I was really happy with them.

EXTREMELY PROMPT AND COURTEOUS SERVICE! The gas company turned off our gas late Friday evening due to a gas leak. On Saturday, I called SM Plumbing and Heating. Marco answered my call immediately and came to my house 5 minutes later because he was in the neighborhood. He was kind, trustworthy and extremely professional! He did not charge us for our visit or his estimate. Unbelievable! You don't find businesses willing to do that and I appreciate the selfless time he spent with us on a Saturday. These are the best plumbers I have found. From the beginning the person answering the phone, Nora, is a kick. I had to have Manny and Armando out two days in a row because I had to have some bathroom tile removed before they could get to the problem. I am a first time SM Plumbing user.  I had an emergency plumbing issue and called them.  They came out quickly and accessed and fixed the problem in no time.  There technician was very friendly and helpful.  I would and have recommended them.  Thanks SM Plumbing!!!

I found Santa Monica Plumbing in a recent and desperate attempt to find a plumber quickly.  My usual tried-and-trues were unavailable or gave me a long wait time.  SM Plumbing called me back almost immediately, and were ready to jump in right when I needed them.  Marco was thorough in his diagnosis of the problem, and was responsive to my millions of questions.  At the office, Nora (who is a GEM) picked up the phone nearly every time I called or called me back promptly when I left a message.  Even in a stressful situation, they worked with me on my timeline, and worked tremendously hard over a 12 hour day in order to get the job done quickly and correctly.  They were clean and followed up to make sure the job was done to satisfaction. They were an absolute joy to work with, and will be my go-to from now on.

I had called another plumbing company, they answered the phone with a Hello, and I had to ask if they were the plumbing company.  They sent out a plumber who did not identify himself, told me the cost would be between $500-600.  I said it was too much, so they tried to bargan me down.  I told them no thanks.
I then called Santa Monica Plumbing and they answered the phone with Santa Monica Plumbing and Heating.  She took my information, said they were not able to come out until the next day (which was fine with me),   Plumber came out, identified himself, gave me the option of trying to fix it without putting in a new pipe, but I opted for the new pipe.  The price was less then the previous person was trying to charge.  They were fast, and left the bathroom clean.  I would definetly use them again

Update: We had a gas leak under our house in pipes that were encased in concrete. Manny and Armando spent most of the day running a new line. They did expert work and also gave me a break on the price. This is their second job for us and they were excellent both times. I trust them and give them my highest recommendation.

The team at Santa Monica Plumbing & Heating is top notch.  Marco, Manny and Armando were awesome.  They are so responsive and fast, extremely prompt and honest.  My husband and I just had our hot water tank replaced and these guys came the same day to inspect the issue and then when we determined we needed to replace the heater, did the replacement the next day at 7:30 am!  They said it would take 4 hours and it took exactly 4 hours.  They also called me about 20 minutes before they arrived each time.  Really impressed with the service - these guys are great and I highly recommend them.

We had Marco come out to look at a job for our condo building and he said he would send us a quote.  We have followed up with him several times over a couple weeks, but have still heard back from him.  This is our first experience with Santa Monica Plumbing and Heating and it isn't positive.  We will move on and find another company.  Unfortunately, they lost a big job and future work for our building.

TOTAL RIP OFF.  I had them come out to look at replacing a hot water tank and the price they came back with the next day was unbelievable. I called a local plumbing supply house and i could have bought the part for $400. They wanted $700. so it would have been $1200 for install for a 3 hour job.

We have used Santa Monica Plumbing for many of our plumbing issues, we have a 4 plex condo in SM, but most recently our hot water heater was red  flagged by the gas company on a Friday. I called Santa Monica Plumbing and they were there in a couple of hours to access the repair. The water heater needed to be replaced, so they came out the next day on Saturday and changed it out, the plumbers were polite and professional. They did a great job, very clean installation and cleaned up everything when they were finished. they even gave me a discount at the end of the job because we are repeat clients. 12/292016. Fixed a plugged toilet and replaced a garden hose bib.  Marco did the work.  Did both jobs for a fair price ($170) and did the work very well.  I would call him again and recommend him to others.  (I awarded 4 stars only because it was a small job and the only work they've done for me.  I'm cautious about a 5-star award since that denotes perfection.  Let's see how they do next time. But for now, they're top-notch.)

Well that was just fantastic.  I attempted a water spout replacement & ended up damaging copper pipe & had a leak.  Manny & Armando showed up right on time & he gave me the worst case scenarios.  Fortunately it wasn't the worst case & he went about soldering & repairing the unit.  He gave me feedback throughout the process & he said it looked good for a great fix.  Armando was right there with him & assisted him closely, which impressed me a lot.  So that was that, in & out in 45 mins.  I am super happy & so relieved.  I couldn't ask for any better service than what those 2 guys brought, so thanks a million Manny & Armando!!!  Much appreciated.

I have used this service twice for my business, within the last year. Both times I felt that the price was high, but I was ok with it because they were prompt and got the job done. On the most recent visit, they fixed a couple of running toilets and a leaky sink. The bill was a little over $600, and they were here for about 45 minutes. Again, more than I hoped to pay, but it was quick and easy. However, about a week after the repair, the sink started leaking again. The same issue, but now water was pouring rather than dripping out of the pipe below. I contacted SM Plumbing's office and explained the situation. I was told that the sink repair was not specifically listed on my invoice, so they would not come back out to fix it. I let them know that THEY were the ones that wrote up the invoice, so it is not my fault that they left that item off of it. They ultimately refused to come out or follow up in any way, saying that if it's not on the invoice then they are not responsible, implying that I am just trying to scam them into fixing some new issue. I think that a company, especially a local one, should stand by their work, and SM Plumbing is instead trying to avoid responsibility and blaim the client for expecting that they do the thing that they were paid to do. Now I have to pay someone else to fix something that I JUST paid to have fixed. It doesn't help that the person I spoke with had a really dismissive and unpleasant tone throughout the interaction.

This is the third time I've used SMP&H and each time they've done a great job. This time I wanted to replace two very old faucets in our 70s-built condo, and it was a very difficult to get the new faucets to fit with the non-standard drain line. Manny and Armando worked into overtime, did a perfect job, went beyond the call of duty removing a gob of hair from the trap and line, and still charged me the original (discounted) price. Want to add that all three times I've used them it was clear these guys and Marco really know they're stuff. One issue is that they sometimes change their arrival time on the day of service, but this is due to them finishing the previous job(s) without compromise, and since I want the same dedicated service I'm ok with that.

Today was my second service call from Satta Moncia Plumbing and Heating.  Both times the service was superb!  Manny and Rogelio were the plumbers who took care of the issue (clogged drains).  Both were polite and neat.  I especially appreciated the customer service from the office - they kept me apprised as to when I could expect Manny and Rogelio to arrive.

We had a very positive experience.  Marco answered the phone, and said someone could be there within a short time window.  Manny arrived when Marco said he would.  Manny did the job quickly and courteously.  We asked whether we needed additional services.  Manny took a look and said no  -- that was honest.  The price was fair too.  We only called Santa Monica Plumbiong when the dispatchers at Roto Rooter flat out lied to us multiple times about when that company could arrive.  Now we'll make Santa Monica Plumbing our first call.

Our kitchen sink backed up and our go-to plumber couldn't get to us for 24 hours, so we called SM Plumbing and Heating.  Manny and Armando came out that afternoon and were extremely polite and professional.  They also fixed an improperly adjusted toilet valve that another plumber had recently installed that led to occasional running of the toilet.  All in all, great service.  Not cheap by any means, but in this case you do get what you pay for.

I just had the BEST experience with this company. I have a wall mounted toilet. No normal plumber will go near it. I needed an expert. I found Santa Monica Plumbing and Heating online and talked to their very friendly receptionist, Nora. She sent Manny and Edmond to my place. They showed up on time. Within minutes, Manny, diagnosed the problem. It was the pump. Manny explained to me how the wall mounted toilets operate. He was very knowledgable and managed to fix it by taking out the pump and readjusting it. The whole thing cost $125 and I couldn't be happier. Thanks, guys! Sure is nice to be able to flush my toilet :)

Once again, Manny and Amando were our life savers... they did an amazing job with a very difficult situation!  I have a tile enclosed shower pipe and the valve needed to be fixed and they magically removed tile, installed a new valve and did within three hours... Last night, our toilet became clogged and water flooded the bathroom. I shut the water off, but when I plunged the toilet to clear it, the water started coming up through our shower drain! I spoke to a very young gentleman there last week.  He said he would be out on Monday morning to fix my swamp cooler.  I didn't get a call from him, so I called him early Monday.  He wasn't sure who I was and this wasn't good.  He said they had an emergency, and that he would call me later.  He didn't specify what time, so I asked him to specify a time.  I waited around from noon to 2:00 PM and no call.  I never got a call from them to follow up or schedule an appointment.  I went with another company who came out when they said they would.  I would never use this company.

I've dealt with SM Plumbing over the years and they are always great.  This last time I called and Lenora answered.  She is awesome.  So friendly and very nice on the phone.  Easy to schedule.  Manny came out and our bathtub was clogged bad.  He spent a lot of time on the problem and afterwards gave us a very fair price for the work.  He cleaned everything up and was on his way.  These guys are true professionals and very reasonable.  Highly recommend.

The drainage pipes for my building were not cleaned properly and it caused sewage to back-flow into my washing machine.  We called Santa Monica Plumbing to remedy the issue and they did a terrific job.  I placed a specific request that I be called 20min prior to service within the predetermined window.  It was in the middle of the work day and I would have to leave.  I received the call, sprinted home, and Manny had arrived right in line with 20min heads up.  He quickly diagnosed the issue, made calls to my landlord, and put into motion the process.  I had to return to work and left Manny to complete the work.  I received phone and text updates as well as before and after pictures from Manny prior to him leaving my place.  I would rate his performance, demeanor, and client interaction as a 10/10.

We have counted on the services of Santa Monica Plumbing & Heating a couple of times now in our relatively new home in Venice. First of all, their dispatcher is very responsible, personable and efficient. We were given a choice of time frames in which our problems (neither immediately urgent but worrisome) could be addressed, and were also alerted when the job could be dispatched earlier than originally scheduled. Manny and Rogelio were on time, polite, informative, and knowledgable about our complicated hot water heater and finicky fixtures. From the initial call to the dispatcher to the resolution of the problems we were having, the whole experience was very positive. They will be our plumbers of choice.

I moved into an apt. that had no laundry and I could not live without a washer and dryer so I decided to add one in my unit. I called Marco at Santa Monica Plumbing and discussed with him my needs and he suggested a few options that helped me narrow down the best area in was to be installed in. Today Manny & Rogelio replaced stems in a leaky bathroom faucet, after diagnosing the problem and finding the 5-year old part. They were efficient, respectful, and punctual. I observed some pooling by the baseboard in my bathroom and called SMP&H the next morning. Manny came the same day and quickly diagnosed a fairly complicated issue. He ran some creative tests to confirm his theory. He opened up the wall and found a major plumbing issue, just as he had suspected. He came back the next morning and fixed it. He even cleaned up nicely after himself. He was courteous, professional, and highly competent.

Had a great experience with SM Plumbing.  Water Heater died and was given a very reasonable quote.  The service person quoted an incorrect spec on the water heater, but they honored the quoted price for the better product -- very respectable!  Mannie and Rody came out to install the water heater and were extremely professional.  12 hours after the install, my water heater started making god-awful sounds.  Mannie returned with a very helpful attitude and resolved the issue (it was the circulation pump), even though it technically was not due to the water heater.  Great team!  Highly recommend.

Terrible Service Very Rude family owned business  the workers would not leave I felt in danger as a woman and the free estimate is not true the receptionist talked and down and was very sarcastic and yelled and argued it was a mess just for a minor job.
I've work on many projects in my home and never encounter a non professional company like this

While Marco has been very helpful in dealing with my plumbing problems in the past, his current scheduler/receptionist Nora is very unprofessional. I was told a plumber would be at my house on Thursday and no one showed up. I spoke to Marco and he apologized and PROMISED me someone would be here on Friday at 8am. Once again no one showed. When I called, Nora told that me that we weren't on the schedule and she had had canceled the plumber. Not sure what is up with her she is very confused. Now I don't feel as though I can trust their service. Too bad - Marco seems like a nice guy.

I have used Santa Monica Plumbing & Heating many times over the last few years and have consistently had great experiences with them.  I recently moved into a new place that needed 3 toilets replaced.  I purchased 3 toilets from Home Depot and called Santa Monica Plumbing & Heating to do the installation, specifically requesting Manny because of his careful and thorough technique, his knowledge and his pleasant demeanor.  During the first part of the installation, Manny & his assistant Armando discovered that two  of the toilets I had purchased would not fit in the space provided (due to my failure to measure before purchasing).  Manny immediately did some research online to find the rare toilets that would fit the  space and meet my other requirements (height, quality, etc.).  He then called his supplier and confirmed that the toilets were available and arranged to have them delivered to my house 2 days later.  He and Armando were at my house at 8:00 am that day to meet the delivery and perform the installation, which was done in a professional and efficient manner.  Excellent service.

I picked this place as it had really good reviews and I prefer to deal with local shops.  I had a water leak issue in my condo that wasn't coming from my unit. I called SMPH in the morning to see if someone was available to come out that afternoon.  I was told they had a spot open, the service call would be $125 and they would be here between 2 - 4 pm.  Around 4:30 pm I hadn't heard from anyone so I called to follow up and was told it would be just a little bit more.  Around 5:30 Manny & Edmund showed up.  I explained the situation to them and they tried to replicate the issue in both mine and my neighbors unit.  They believe it might have been a temporarily plugged drain from our wash machine and advises us to keep an eye on it.  If this was the end of the story I wouldn't be writing this.  As Manny was writing up the invoice he said the cost is $165. I immediately asked why it went up $40 and they didn't even perform any work. He said the Boss said because it was after 5.  Really?  I was quoted $125 and was given a timeframe of 2-4 pm.  Why all of a sudden is it my fault they arrived an hour and 30 minutes late??  I said give me your Boss number I want to speak with him now!  Manny ended up calling and told him I was pissed and said just this one time they would honor the $125.  Sorry, there won't be a 2nd time.  Complete BS to quote one price and then Jack the price up because you showed up late.   Manny and Edmund where nice, this is not a knock on them, but I'd stay away from this place!!!!

Manny and Enrique came out to look at a wet spot underneath the carpeting near our kitchen. After some investigation they found a pool of water underneath our kitchen cabinet work, and after some additional investigation they found a crack in the curve of a drain pipe in our wall that drains our kitchen sink and dishwasher. They were able to clearly show me the problem (I watched as water dribbled out when the faucet was on) and explain the solution. The solution won't be cheap, but that's because the pipe is embedded in a shared wall between our unit and another unit of our five unit building and it is going to be difficult to get access and fix the problem area. They showed up when they said they were going to show up, were clear about what the visit was going to cost and explained everything clearly. They worked on a temporary fix so that we could continue to use things until we're able to schedule the complete fix next week. We've used Santa Monica Plumbing many times over the years, and they continue to be very professional and reliable.
