I called Anchor Electric because they were highly recommended in our neighborhood. Our dryer outlet stopped working and I needed a professional to check it out.

On my initial call with Gus he recommended I inspect a few things to ensure it was a house issue and not PG&E. After that he was able to visit the same day and his rates are reasonable compared to other electricians I contacted.

He came over with his son and was super friendly and explained the problem. They were able to fix the issue in less than an hour. Couldn't be happier!

Like everyone else, I was very satisfied with Gus's work.  He takes particular interest in the challenge at hand, in my case, how to optimally charge my new Tesla.  He stopped by the house to discuss the project and give a quote and before the work week was done, he was back with his son (this is a family business) and quickly installed the NEMA 14-50R outlet as well as a disconnect.  I wanted to make certain that everything was up to code for permit and inspection purposes.

I want to add that Gus's quote matched another, but his included the work for the disconnect as well as the additional time needed to pull the permit and to come back for the inspection.

One last note, Gus is very focused on serving the local community, so if you live in downtown San Jose area, I highly recommend him!

I have chosen to not use their services, because of the way I was treated over the phone. I do appreciate that Gus took the time to speak with me about my project, but did not appreciate being talked down to when asking questions. I inquired about the process, hourly rates, and purchasing supplies. It helps me to understand a project thoroughly before starting. I was told, I really don't want to get into the setup process with you. I've been doing this 30 years. You're not going to understand because it's technical. You will either get bored or frustrated.

My experience was the equivalent of asking a question and receiving, Because I said so, as a response. In this situation, it was, Because I've been doing this for 30 years. I am going to find an electrician willing to answer my questions and walk me through the process.

We have an old house built in 1921. Recently it occasionally smelt like something was burning in our home office and then one of the main outlets stopped working. Saw the reviews here and called. Gus and Michael managed to fit me in same day. After some searching we found an unused and burnt outlet. We're seriously lucky it hadn't started a fire.

The guys found that many of the other outlets have old and/or bad and dangerous wiring. They fixed the burnt outlet and disengaged a couple of the more dangerous ones for now (they had another job previously slotted to get to). I will definitely have them back soon to inspect and fix the rest of the outlets.

These guys have been doing electrical work for decades. They're experts in their field and I highly recommend them.

I want to thank Anchor Electric for the great advice they gave me yesterday! I called in because my garbage disposal was having an issue and it was constantly causing my circuit breaker to turn turn off.

I called in to Anchor Electric and rather than driving out to just charge me and drain me out of money, he talked to me about some troubleshooting techniques that helped me to understand that my electrical was not the problem but the disposal itself.

Also, turns out that I have a warranty on my disposal so I will be all squared away!

There are not too many trustworthy business men out there  that want to truly help the people they service, but when you find one, you should be sure to keep them around for a long time!

I highly recommend Anchor Electric and I assure you that I will use them and refer them anytime I have a chance! Thanks Anchor Electric! God bless!

Late on a very rainy Friday afternoon, I went into a slight panic when we found 2 electrical outlets not working while getting our home ready for sale and an upcoming home inspection. (I envisioned having to tear out newly installed fixtures and painted walls.) I found Anchor Electric on Yelp with all the stellar reviews. Gus answered the phone when I called, but was busy and said he'd call back. He called back and spent 20 minutes on the phone with me trying to identify and isolate the problem. Going by the year the home was built he pretty much knew how the place was wired based on codes at the time. After further questions to me on renovations done and what had taken place, he talked me through some steps and got it working while he was on the phone.  It was a simple GFCI issue, but not exactly intuitive unless you know how the wiring was installed (which he patiently explained more than once since I obviously didn't get it the first time).

The upshot is that I didn't need to hire Anchor, but I am sure you will get your money's worth from Gus if you do.  He is very knowledgeable and very good at diagnosing problems.  Trust the good reviews you read here.

To make a long story short:  I call Gus because I thought, while drilling, I had hit some wires.  I called him around 7pm Monday night, he calls back right away.  +1.  He asks a bunch of questions, really trying to understand what happened and said he'll come to check it out (I live all the way in Fremont, and he was still okay with coming.)  +2  He gave me a time frame, between 9am and 10am and he showed up on time!  +2

He takes a look and called me up every time he was going to do something and what he discovers is a nail from the otherside of the wall, piercing two wires. He's pretty indignant about it, saying that this is definitely the builder's fault, they put up these houses so quick, that they missed the wooden beam and hit the wires instead. He said it was a pretty dangerous situation and said we should get this fixed rightaway. He said he could do it, but we should go talk to the owner or the housing people because they ought to take care of it. What an honest guy!  He definitely could have fixed it and charged us like, $500 and went on his merry way, but he actually took my brother (who was at home) to the leasing office to show somebody what had happened.

I cannot write a better review than this - honest, professional, knowledgeable - just great.  Thanks Gus, for saving us money and probably our lives!

I found Gus via reviews on Yelp and have signed up for an account in order to provide a review.

Gus is the Mike Holmes of electricians.

We purchased a home that was overall in excellent condition, but the inspection report indicated some electrical issues to be addressed.  Gus was very generous with his time in explaining the nature of the issues and also discussed alternatives, e.g., conversion of the range to gas, that might have been less expensive.

He is absolutely the antithesis of the hard sell; as an example, he simply indicated the (bankrupt and unlamented) manufacturers of the electrical panels and said, look these up online, conduct your own research, and then we'll talk.

Work performed by Gus and his assistant was of commercial quality; absolutely first-rate.  They were punctual, friendly, efficient, and the price was very fair.  Costs were clearly estimated and explained in advance, and while there were some surprises after things were opened up, the final costs were still as estimated.

This is a quality firm with an upstanding owner.  Highly recommended.

Anchor Electric is a great business.  They helped fix an issue in both my home and on a separate occasion in my rental. Gus is a bright man and excellent at trouble-shooting issues.  Gus and his crew are honest and don't try to recommend more than what is needed, and at the same time very pleasant to deal with. I have trusted Gus and his crew on two occasions now and I will continue to call them for any electrical needs in future homes, which is bound to happen in this city of older homes and ancient wiring.
I recommend Anchor Electric without hesitation.
Thanks Gus!

I called this business today and my call was quickly answered. Gus did some troubleshooting with me on the phone and decided he needed to come out. He arrived as scheduled and was very knowledgeable, personable and professional. It took awhile to locate the problem but that was only because others had done such poor workmanship over the years. He found the problem and explained what he was doing each step of the way.

He was clear about his pricing and there were no hidden charges. He did not try to sell me any products or services other than what I asked for.

I learned about aluminum wiring versus copper wiring, braiding, and pig tails. He showed me how I could change my outdoor security lighting and save money on my energy bills. I couldn't have been more pleased with his work! The power was restored to my house (half of the lights went out at the same time) and I'll be calling him back to work on my exterior security lights.

I highly recommend Gus! Thank you so much Gus!

Anchor Electric came to my house and worked on my fuse box to remove a dangerous 30 Amp breaker that led to the outside yard that the previous owner had left unfinished and added a new 20 Amp breaker to a line I'm installing myself for a project I'm working on.  All in one hour!  These guys are nice, totally professional and all around awesome!

Gus is the real deal. One night we had an Arc Fault Type BRAF breaker trip on us and half the house went dark. Gus came out the next day and quickly figured out the problem--two shabby, non-compliant light fixtures in our bedroom closets leftover from the previous owner. He removed both fixtures, capped the wires and installed cover plates. This was not an especially obvious problem as these arc fault breakers are very sensitive but Gus figured it out quickly and we had our electricity back ASAP.

All of that said, what I was most impressed by was the effort Gus made to try and talk us through the problem over the phone. Had it been a simple flip of a switch, we would have resolved our problem and Gus wouldn't have made a dime. Now THAT is honesty.

The power keep turning off in part of house and was not tripping any of the circuit breakers.  We tried all the troubleshooting techniques we know, but couldn't fix the problem.  We just couldn't figure out what was causing the power to go off.  We were really concerned about possible electrically fire because the circuit breakers were not tripping.

Needed to have a professional electrician to come out quick.  Got on yelp and started calling off the list.  Got no answer on the first three calls.  Anchor Electric was the fourth call I made. Gus answered the phone call.  We explained to Gus exactly what had happened on the phone.  From his experience, Gus had an idea what the problem was.  So rather than driving out and charging us to fix the issue. Gus walked us through on the phone what needed to be done.  We followed his advices and bam! the problem was resolved.  Of course, Gus never charged us for his time and the expert advices he provided.

I highly recommend Anchor Electric and Gus will defintley be our go to electrician from now on.

We had a huge issue at our place where the lights in 2 rooms were flickering & affecting the other appliances. We called Gus & he came in promptly & walked us through all the issues that we had with respect to the messed up electrical that the previous owners had left us with. He was able to troubleshoot the issue correctly within the first few minutes. We had an issue with incorrect light fixtures & a huge one with the faulty connectors in the meter box.

Luckily Gus & PG&E were able to help us restore the lights at our place (11pm in the night). Avoided a fire hazard. The cost does put a dent, but in this case we were more than happy that we dodged a bullet & had Gus to help us through it rather than a shady contractor who would've charged us less but left us with a bigger problem on our hands.

Called Anchor Electric on a Sunday afternoon. Part of the electricity in the house was out and there was a weird fishy smell.  Gus did a great job talking to me about the problem over the phone and was able to come out the same day. Gus and Michael were nice, professional, speedy and went out of their way to fix our problems, with reasonable rates. I will use Anchor Electric for future electric jobs we have around the home. Thanks Gus and Michael!

I'm a critical guy, and I want it done just right. It's rare that a business really makes me happy. Usually it's, OK, but ... Gus Kanakis, of Anchor Electric, turned out to be that rare business. On his first visit he was capable, knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. Then we had a follow on emergency and he stepped right up and sorted everything out. Let me add that he came to my house right away.

This is the electrician you want to call. You won't be sorry.

I searched Yelp this morning and called Anchor Electric regarding an electric problem and I was delighted that Gus was so helpful and patient over the phone, explaining and answering my questions. I was able to schedule for him to arrive within 1-2 hours, whereas I might have had to wait longer otherwise.

When he came, he was able to find the problem and solve it quickly. In addition, he was very kind to point out that my dryer wasn't vented properly and gave me a very detailed overview of how to do it yourself as a homeowner project. Also, he gave very comprehensive and sound advice on another home project my family was considering, which really helps us to decide whether or not it's realistic to pursue.

All in all, I'm glad to have called Gus and thanks to fellow Yelper's for helping me find him.

After coming home after dinner with friends late on a Friday night, I found my house half blacked out.  Half the lights worked and half didn't, or only came on dimly.  I called Anchor Electric and spoke with Gus for about 20 minutes, as he asked me to check on a number of things.  Eventually, he determined it was nothing I could fix on my own and said he would see me in about 20 minutes.

He showed up in less than 15 minutes and probed around a bit.  Eventually, he determined that the problem was from the power company, they were providing much too low a voltage.  He called the power company and waited with me for them to arrive.  He could have simply said good luck with this and left.  It was a Friday night, after all.

Overall, Gus was very professional and very informative.  He kept me apprised of exactly what he was looking for and how he figured out the eventual problem.  I recommend Anchor Electric very highly.

I just want to add my agreement to the other reviewers.  Last night half our outlets went out.  I called PG&E who came out and said we needed a contractor to fix whatever is wrong.

I called Gus at 7:30am this morning, and he was extremely helpful.  As everyone has said, he is upfront about costs.  They showed up this morning 30 minutes earlier than expected.

Gus and his crew are respectful, knowledgeable, and pleasant.  Most of all, they fixed the problem and charged me a fair price for their services.  I am extremely happy with them.

I could not wait to yelp about Gus after I was more than pleased with his fast, efficient (saving me time and money), professional, and knowledgeable service.  I called Gus and within a few hours he was able to come by and look at my electrical issue.  He actually made time to fit me in his schedule!  Within 10 or less minutes he figured out what the problem was.  Actually he told me over the phone what he thought the issue was and he was correct!
He has a great personality and easy to talk to.  I learned from him that he has been doing electrical work for 30 years.  I am going to definitely refer him to all my family and friends.  Thank you Gus you are a genius electrician and awesome!  You are very professional and fast and knowledgeable...and honest just to say a few words about you and how pleased I was with your services.

Last Nov. 2014 we had a power outage in only one room.  We called an electrician who troubleshooted for 3 hours and still could not find the cause.  We got a referral to Anchor Electric.  Gus the owner was able to find where the root cause was in 2hrs.
He was very helpful with advice on how to avoid power outages.  He was very professional and caring.  We feel our house is now safe and up to par.  He explained how when our house was built it was not capable of powering so many of the gadgets we use now so we had to replace all receptacles and switches and subpanel among other things.
We will recommend Anchor Electric if ever asked for a professional and reliable electrician.

I bumped into Gus at Home Depot and got into a short conversation that turned into an enjoyably  long one, I am an experienced electrical engineer that has had a contractor license and built 3 houses. I was buying  things needed to add an outside plug to a house that I recently put heat and central air conditioning into. After talking with Gus, I new a better and easier way to do the job per codes. I also found out about the requirements for arc detection circuit breakers in bedrooms of new construction. I'm fairly smart, and knew during our conversation that Gus was more knowledgeable able able to communicate his insights better than 9 out of ten professionals that I talk to. I would reccommend Gus to any of my friends

Anchor Electric was hired to upgrade our electrical box at our home.  Gus, and his son Mike did a fine job.  I asked him to also look for any electrical concerns on the property.  Gus identified that there was an electrical socket at the base of a floor to ceiling window. This electrical socket was almost flush with what would be the new carpet install.  He suggested that when we installed the carpet, that the installer make a safety area of four inches from the socket, so that the risk of fire from the socket would be eliminated.  Bravo!  We would have never identified this.  You will be very pleased if you hire Anchor Electric.

I can't say enough great things about Anchor Electric! I work for a property management company and Anchor Electric is the electrician I call when I need something done quickly, correctly, and cost effectively.  Our company has been using his electrical services for years and I've had the pleasure working with them directly on projects for the past year and a half. The owner, Kosta Gus, is ALWAYS friendly and responsive.  Gus not only provides commercial services but he also does residential as well.  I moved into an older home and he took the time to go through the property condition report and explain which items I should be concerned with and which ones were trival. His rates are very reasonable and he's also willing to explain exactly why something should be done. He'll never try to get you to do work that isn't necessary!

I  found Anchor Electric here on yelp, and the reviews were spot on.  Gus is the owner; he is timely, honest, trustworthy and does very high quality work.

My house is 80+ years old, and I wanted an upgrade to 220, add outlets, have a working doorbell, and move a light switch to an accessible wall from the entry.  For the intro appointment for inspection and quoting, Gus arrived on time. He was very thoughtful about my options and the cost benefit of some of my ideas, as well as raised some safety concerns of which I was not aware.  He did not try to over sell me on a bunch of crap that I did not need and offered a very reasonable price.  He actually talked me out of some ideas to avoid unnecessary spending and damage to the house.  For example, I have a bathroom in which the light switch is on the opposite side of the room from the entry way.  Gus was very creative.  To maintain the integrity of the original walls, he simply installed a motion sensor (with a switch) in the existing light switch hole.  Presto!  I have not had a guest ask how to turn the lights on in that bathroom since :)  The panel upgrade was completed while I was on a short vacation, and the remainder of the work was done shortly thereafter.

With all of the big business and franchises in this area, it is very refreshing to have the opportunity to work  with a boutique operation owned by a member of my community.  Gus and his electrician did an awesome job and completed the work on time.  Overall, a pleasant experience!

Based on the reviews here at Yelp, I contacted Gus.  On the phone he was very up front about the minimum charge, and he showed up promptly as promised.

Unfortunately, the problem that was present for weeks, went away just before he came.  Therefore, he was not able to diagnose the problem.   This was the point at which we had a disagreement on what to do next.

The bottomline is that he was VERY professional even though we both had very strong opinions.  We decided to part company at this point.

I offered twice to compensate him and his assistant for their time.  but he didn't want it because the problem was not fixed.  Any way, I feel that Gus is a trustworthy guy.  Too bad we couldn't find a fix.

Gus was helpful right from the first time we talked on the phone. He genuinely cared and even called me back with more information he had found out before coming over to my house.

Once here, he helped me figure out the problem and even helped me figure out how to save energy!

He is very trustworthy. He helped me calculate and figure out what in my house is using a lot of power and how to avoid it.

Highly recommended!! If I ever need an electrician again, I will definitely call Anchor Electric and ask for Gus!

I recently called Anchor Electric out to my house -- the owner (Gus) came out personally and promptly. He and his son did a great job installing a new bathroom fan and helping re-install a mounted microwave.

Regarding a completely separate issue: Shortly after that a handyman service claimed that there was no electricity to an outlet, and he couldn't figure out the problem (of course he still wanted his $). At that point I called Gus again -- it took him all of 5 minutes to determine that the GFCI breaker had tripped. He reset it and installed my light fixtures.

Gus is very friendly and professional. It's great to have such professional service as opposed to a bigger shop that will send out a flunky with little expertise or experience.

Thanks, Gus!

I can honestly say this firm cares about you, your home, and the quality of their work.  This is the Company you call if you want someone that will take the time to explain what's going on, provide great suggestions, and answer all of your questions.

In my case, I had an issue with some existing outlets (one of which turned out to be a user error on my part) and needed a new outlet installed for a TV.

Not only was the team prompt and professional in returning calls -- but it was done promptly and for a great price.  It's such an amazing difference from what you see with other vendors.  Highly recommended.

Gus was very fast, efficient and a honest electrician. Our power in our home kept going out. Gus came over the same day got right down to the root of the problem and was able to fix it immediately. He actually saved our house from possible catching on fire. It turns out some of the outlets were old and the wiring was burnt, any spark could have caused a fire. Great Job! Will definitely call if we need him again.

Gus was great.  He's very knowledgeable and is very good at explaining what's going on and what he's doing.

He helped diagnose two different issues we were having.  Our dining room lights went out and we had some problems in another room.  He was quick at diagnosing the two (seperate) issues and getting us going.  He also did some minor repairs/improvements as we were searching for the cause of our problem.

Gus is honest, personable, and dedicated to doing a top notch job.  He's not the sort of contractor/electrician who's looking to cut corners.
I'd highly recommend.

I called Gus today solely based on other reviews on Yelp. The other reviewers are right on ! He was very responsive, professional, punctual - overall just awesome.
It turned out that we had a simple trip (he just flipped the switch, which I had also tried but I hadn't flipped it hard enough.. duh !!).. however, Gus did not run out of the door in the next 2 minutes with his check.. he stayed longer, patiently examined all our circuits, did a walk through, educated me on all the dos and don'ts and how-to-fix-its.
I would have otherwise kicked and cried about spending so much money for just flipping a switch.. but Gus made it seem not so bad at all. he even voluntarily put in a new switch pad to an exposed switch circuit that we had.
Great guy.. totally recommend him !

Can't say much more than the other reviewers (reviewer got in an argument with Gus and still gave him 3 stars, that should tell you something!).

He was able to come earlier than expected and found my condo unit without calling for directions when EVERY OTHER service guy needs 3 or 4 phone calls to get there.

I had a relatively simple problem with overloading a circuit after installation of a microwave/fan combo unit. After confirming the diagnosis he made during the first phone call, he suggested that he let his assistant check the circuit for any damage that might have been caused by the overload. No hard sell at all and made me feel like if I just wanted him to replace the circuit breaker and go on his way, it would be fine.

He then began to check how the outlets in the kitchen were laid out and went over how I could lay out the small appliances to make certain that I don't have any problems with the other circuits.

He went over every step and explained what he was doing and why he was doing it. Even though him and his assistant were at my home about 3 1/2 hours. He ended up charging me for about 2 1/4 based on the hourly rates he quoted over the phone.

Overall, very professional but still the type of guy you can talk to and won't act like you're idiot for not knowing about electrical work.

Tip: If you like to backpack, and James is there(sorry if I got your name wrong), ask him about good spots around Sonora. He knows a few.

Not a review on their work but their customer service;

I wanted to install an outlet above a fireplace for a tv mount and needed a quote for work so I called Anchor Electric. Gus answered and proceeded to ask questions about my setup before outlining the work required and the potential costs.  He also provided alternative solutions that would be cheaper.  At the risk of turning down a lucrative job he was honest and forthright in explaining the costs and provided other solutions.

I like this guy already and will turn to him for electric needs that I have in the future.

I called up Anchor Electric the other night after one of our lighting circuits went out but the breaker didn't switch off. I was worried that we had an arc somewhere in our house that could cause a fire. I asked Gus to come up the next day if he could, and he did. He and his team diligently arrived the next morning and found the problem within about ten minutes.

Yep, it could have burned down my house.

It's an older house (about 50/60 years old) that still has a lot the original light switches (single poles) and two-prong outlets (receptacles) and used these small metal crimps (Buchanan wire connectors)  to join wires together. Basically, all the circuitry is aging and is starting to fault. Not just some of it; all of it. We spent some time walking around the house and proving it. All we had to do was just jiggle some of the outlets and switches ever so slightly and the lights would start to flicker. Kinda scary. I'm really glad I called up this team.

Gus and his team explained everything to me that I asked and more (including useful facts about modern cell-phone chargers that everyone should know about but that no one really does). It was just a really great experience (friendly, courteous, professional, timely, efficient, etc..) and left me with a feeling of confidence and safety.

Thank you very much, Anchor Electric !

Short version:  Call this man if you need any electric work.  Don't even think twice.

Slightly longer version:  I needed some assistance and guidance in dealing with the electricity in an older house that my wife and I had just moved into.  I came to yelp to search for an electrician and read the good things from the other reviewers about this fella named Gus at Anchor Electric.  Sounded good and he's located near us, so I gave him a call.  We chatted on the phone initially for about 15 minutes and then scheduled an appointment for the next day.  Gus showed up right on time -- exactly, in fact -- and just did an excellent job the whole time he was here.  Extremely knowledgeable.  Extremely patient.  Great guy.  He addressed every issue that was on the table better than I could have imagined.  He went above and beyond, proving he's not just any other electrician or trying to take any shortcuts.  Like I said in the quick review, if you need any kind of electrical assistance whatsoever, call this man.  You won't be sorry.

Gus spent 10 minutes on the phone with me trouble-shooting my problem and after the over-the-phone assistance he decided he should not come out because it was likely a problem with my appliance.  The last electrician I called when an outlet didn't work didn't diagnose anything and then charged me 125 to flip the switch on our circuit breaker.  I will call Gus the next time I need electrical help!  Great customer service!

I needed to get old aluminum wiring upgraded, new outlets put in, and an outlet that didn't work fixed. Based on the reviews here I called Gus. He is all that the previous reviews have said. He's on-time, super nice, and got the job done. His employee, Jeremy was fantastic, very nice, and performed clean work. I consider myself picky and detail-oriented and I never had to point out any missed items because he didn't miss any detail. I honestly, don't know if they were the best price out there because I only called Anchor Electric.  After meeting for the estimate, I was confident they would do a good job and I trusted all the good reviews here. They showed up when they said they would and Gus answered all my questions, and returned my phone calls. Now that the job is done (ahead of the estimated time frame), I can honestly say that I made the right choice.  Anchor Electric is fantastic and I will definitely use them again.

Gus is great. He's your guy. We had a problem on a circuit that we couldn't solve. I found Anchor Electric on yelp and called him. It was already around dinner time, but he answered and asked if we need him to come right away or if it could wait until the following day. He had a morning appointment but when I told him I was tied up in the afternoon, he switched his schedule around. He showed up and solved the problem in no time. He also gave me great advice about some track lighting we have that may have overloaded the circuit. He's a lovely person and while I hope I don't have any electrical problems any time soon, if I did, I'd call him in a heart beat.

I had an outlet that caught on fire while using a hair dryer.  Gus came out right away.  He did testing of several outets in my condo, explained ground fault versus arch fault receptacles which I knew nothing about, and ultimately diagnosed the issue and fixed the problem.  Highly recommended!

I have to say, like at least one other person has mentioned here, I have not yet used Gus' services.  I (re)opened up a Yelp account because I felt compelled to share his awesomeness.  He came to our home a couple weeks ago and went over a list of upgrade-type items we wanted done.  We'd talked to contractors and electricians who happily gave us quotes on work we assumed would be no problem.  Firstly, Gus was the first and only professional who asked if we had an attic crawl space (no, it's a flat roof) and recommended against much of the work we wanted done since it would involve tearing out drywall to access the wiring.  Secondly, we had several professionals tell us that we needed to upgrade our bathroom fan (due to recurring mildew issues... ugh).  Gus was the first and only one of them to explain to us that this was completely unecessary and possibly detrimental due to the size of our bathroom.  He recommended other solutions to help with our problem (a motion sensor for the bathroom and a wireles-type switch for our hallway).  I've already recommended him to friends and family based on his saving us time and money already and his incredible amount of experience and knowledge (he has 25-ish? years of experience).  He's such a down to earth guy and so easy to talk to.  I'll update after we have the work done.

Oh yeah... and he calls you back right after you e-mail him, even at 8pm on a Sunday night!

My husband sawed through an electrical wire on Saturday afternoon (doing some drywall work) and we called Gus since his yelp reviews were so positive.  We were NOT disappointed!  He showed up a couple of hours later and was able to diagnose as well as re-wire the problem area  the same day.  This involved not only the electric work, but sawing of additional drywall which he did without complaint.   He was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and didn't try to sell us something we didn't need.  I would not hesitate to use him in the future for any electrician need we may have!!

We found Gus on Yelp. He was available to talk to us when we called after 7pm to make an appointment. He was upfront and sincere.  He was knowledgeable and proved insightful regarding our problem. We would definitely call him again.  Overall, a real upstanding guy.

I called Anchor Electric for a short circuited lamp knocked off power in my garage and family room. Gus was very friendly and gave me a few suggestions to try to turn the power back on. It actually worked. Even thought he never came to my house to fix anything, I would still give him five stars for great service and care for his potential clients. Now I know who I will turn to next time when we have electric problem. Thanks Gus!

Wow! I contacted this person based on all the good reviews. He was not at all helpful! I think that he was too groutchy and did not want a job. I told him what the situation was, but he did not want to help saying that he doesn't know what I was talking about. Didn't even try to know what I was saying. You know, if I knew all the electrical terms, I wouldn't need an electrician, would I? He needs to learn some manners and not be rude to people. During our conversation, I had to tell him to stop talking; I was so mad and didn't want hear him bash out at me anymore. What a rude obnoxiuos man!!

I like to tinker and have worked with electricity in my day job (if they pay you, you're considered a professional, right? :)  ) ...  but I've found that there will invariably come a time when even the most hardcore home-handyman needs the services of a real electrician.  There are hundreds of these guys to select from in our area, and their rates are fairly similar, so how does one choose where to spend their hard-earned money?  After talking to a few people over the phone, I realized that Gus was different;  meeting him in person confirmed that he was the real deal -- one of the most geniune, down-to-earth and honest guys you'll ever meet, and someone who clearly has a passion for what he does.  His approach is not to blindly follow some technique he learned by rote, but to understand the root causes and figure out what to do from there.  Gus fixed my problems not with the attitude of an elite tradesman who considers the client to be simply a source of annoyance and cash, but with the authentic enthusiasm of a true master for whom communicating the reasons behind his actions is both an ethical necessity and a professional pleasure.    If you are at all interested in the wirenuts and bolts of what your electrician is really doing, Gus is the man for you.   I would not hesitate to call on him again, and I'll definitely recommend his work to all my power-less friends.

Kudos to Gus and Anchor Electric.  Our business had a major electric failure on Saturday afternoon which suddenly and randomly cut off power to several rooms and receptacles.  There seemed to be no pattern.  Our air conditioner also went down.  Fortunately, we struggled through the rest of the day.  Sunday morning I called Anchor Electric (because of great reviews on Yelp) and explained my dilemma of needing to be open or business Monday morning.  Gus answered the phone and agreed to come right away.  He arrived shortly after we hung up the phone.  He quickly and methodologically zeroed in on the problem which was that one of the three fuses in our three phase subpanel was blown.  He then proceeded to troubleshoot the air conditioning system and also found a blown fuse there.  I was amazed at how quickly he zeroed in on the problems. Throughout the service call Gus was extremely professional, polite and thorough.  The cost for the service was very reasonable. I highly recommend Gus and Anchor Electric for any electrical problem.  He will be our man to call for all personal and business related electrical issues.
