If I could give 10 stars to JBS Roofing, I would.  We called them out after a huge storm where we had a leak in our 2-story house that resulted in water infiltration in our kitchen on the first floor.  We discovered the leak had been cause by an improper solar installation, which made the entire process that much more stressful, especially after mold was found during their tear-down.

The team at JBS was amazing through the entire process.  Their installers assisted us by taking photos throughout the entire process (before photos included here), their job supervisors and installers kept us informed of progress and issues the entire time, and the office staff was extremely supporting and helpful, answering our questions and providing necessary documentation to aid our interactions with the insurance company.

The team was always punctual, professional and friendly.  They cleaned up so well that our yard looked better when they left than it did when they arrived.  To top it off, the cost of our roof repair, even with the extra material needed, was 30% LOWER than our neighbor, who has the exact same floor plan.

I highly recommend JBS Roofing.  If you prefer to be more than just a contract number, definitely use them for your roof.

Made an appointment for a roof estimate via their website. Time was set, and all seemed fine, until the morning of, when their salesman Gary W called to see if he can reschedule for earlier in the day. Told him I couldn't due to another contractor occupying that spot. Gary's answer I don't care that you have another contractor in the same time. Well, guess what, I do.

Anyway, he came relatively on-time, but with an attitude. First he told me that he can't reuse the existing clay tiles, due to not being available anymore - a valid point, although lots of my neighbors were able to reuse theirs and find replacements; he got quite upset hearing this and actually told me that there's nothing left to discuss if I insisted on reusing the tiles. He pushed concrete tiles instead. Anyway, I convinced him to look around the property, to inspect the tiles (which he called incorrectly being straight, instead of tapered - he didn't admit being wrong) and we started discussing underlayment. I mentioned synthetic, like Titanium or Tyvec Protec, which sent him ballistic, telling me that that's cr*p, that I deal with cheap contractors, telling me again that there's nothing to discuss anymore and wished me good luck with my cheap contractors. He turned his back and left.

I have never ever dealt with a more unprofessional contractor. Good that I found this out before considering them for work, not during or after the fact.

I have a mobile home in a mobile home park and I was looking for someone that could do a job for me as I know not everyone does manufactured homes. Dan Wolf came to offer a quote.  Unfortunately JBS doesn't handle homes in mobile home parks but he gave me good advice on what he thought was the best type of roof for my place and gave me names of some other roofing businesses that might be able to help me. He told me what to expect in regards to pricing and what to tell them I wanted and needed. It was refreshing to have someone give me a straight answer even though he wouldn't be able to help me himself personally.

My review of Jim Brown and Sons from 2021 is in the not rated section.  I do not know why, but please scroll to my review and see what an excellent job Jim Brown and Sons did on our roof.  They went above and beyond in their service to us by assisting us with a complaint against another roofing company with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.  Gary came out to our home multiple times to be here when the ROC inspector was here.  He did this without any expectation of us using Jim Brown and Sons when the case was resolved.  We did choose to use them to replace our roof.  It took almost a year from the first time Gary of JBS first came to our home to the time we were able to have Jim Brown and Sons (JBS) do the work.  Our home is dry and leak proof and has been that way for an entire year.  Thank you Jim Brown and Sons!

JBS just finished an underlayment paper replacement on my roof.  All the tile gets stacked up and the old paper and wood strips are removed.  I did lots of research, took 4 estimates, and JBS left me with the best feeling about quality and value.  It was also a pleasant surprise to have their estimate come back at the lowest price by a little bit.  (One was rediculously high).   They have been a valley run family business since 1982 and their commitment to quality was apparent in the result.  If you need a paper underlayment replacement under your tile, I recommend asking about 2-40.  It's a double layer of 40 lb paper.   The  newer synthetic papers that many contractors are pushing now are apparently not holding up that well, which means premature leaks.   JBS does a lot of 2-40.  Until synthetic papers are perfected, 2-40 is the way to go.   I have no affiliation with this company, and will gladly write a bad review when deserved.  There was nothing to complain about.  It is a pleasure to give a 5 star review to a co. that has earned it.

I have no idea what to expect with roofing companies as I have never dealth with roofing companies. However, whatever I experienced was not expected. I'll just break this down by the dates:

06NOV18: Signed contract.
14NOV18: Contacted JBS to ask what was going on.
15NOV18: Received paper bill asking for 1/3 down payment. No instructions on how to pay so I called them and paid.
03DEC18: Emailed them and had them cancel contract for lack of interest/communication on their part.
03DEC18: Replied with canceled contract and money refunded.

So you don't have to do the math that is:
9 days to go from contract to down payment
18 days to go from down payment to me canceling
27 days from from signed contract to me canceling

To me this is unacceptable. There is no way that it should take a week before taking payment. There is no way it should take two weeks (business days only) to set me up with an appointed date.

What I expected was that at the very least they contact me and ask what time frame I was looking at doing my project. Then getting back to me when I scheduled. I would have been OK with this, especially around the holidays. However, I received no communication whatsoever.

So what was good? Out of the 6 companies or so JBS was the best at getting back to me with options and questions I had. Which makes this entire thing even more disappointing because now I have to go back and wade through all the no-shows and people who dropped off the face of the planet when I started asking questions.

Birds were making nest inside my roof underneath the tile and I had no idea the scorpions no not scorpions termites were eating away at the  base of the roof under the tile it was a true large mess Jim Brown & Sons came out BOOM before you knew it my roof was fixed.  I'm very pleased with the fast efficient work that was done, and the price was right love the warranty too.
Thank you,  Jim. Brown & Sons!

Easy to communicate with. Easy to understand each step of the process. Jim was on site every day(up until the last day). He checked in with us daily and went above and beyond to help solve a solar tube problem. The price was right and the roof looks great. They did a great job of cleaning up after themselves everyday. I was just a little disappointed that Jim never came back to check in on finished product (I thought that was part of the process). There is nothing wrong at all but I thought there would be a final review of the completed job. I would still highly recommend this to business for a roof replacement.

Excellent work at a fair price.  Great communication and they don't subcon the work out to others.  They provide warranty from underlayment materials suppliers also after the job is done.  Very satisfied customer!

Jim Brown & Sons Roofing is are go-to place for anything we need related to our roof.  This was our second time using them.  The first time we used them was on our current house and they seamlessly matched the roof color, did the repairs quickly and everyone we worked with was fantastic.  Recently we went back to JBS Roofing to help on our rental property.   We had a minor issue that they quickly and immediately resolved - which I think speaks to their customer service and commitment to doing an excellent job.  I'd recommend JBS Roofing without reservation.  I'm confident you will find them to be experts in their craft, offer high quality work and great customer service.  We would use them again!

Horrible customer service from the operations manager and up.  I have a signed contract for work to be performed.  After they claimed they were done with my 3-4 day job in 1 day I was skeptical.  Upon review I noticed they took the old drip molding and put it back on the house despite my contract stating and charging me for new.  After getting the run around and them agreeing they were wrong they gave me a $50 credit on a 4k+ job.  That is just one of the many things that were so unprofessional but I'm done spending time on them. Thankfully I have a long reach to let as many people know about my experience.  The operations manager promised to take my concerns to the owner and get back to me, again they never called.  I paid my bill in full and will never do business with them again.

I hired Jim Brown and Sons to replace my old, crappy roof. I was pleasantly surprised at how thorough the process was. From my initial phone call to ask questions all the way through to completion of the project, everyone on the JBS team was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. We hired them because of their reputation of being one of the longest running roofing contractors in Phoenix. I've heard horror stories of people hiring smaller roofing companies and didn't want to sacrifice quality or peace of mind for price. They also offered financing which allowed us to do the project in the first place. Overall, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend them.

I had some broken tiles on my roof (sand type tiles,) that needed replacement JBS ROOFING came out inspected the roof told me that i needed a new vulcanized coating over my patio.  The home is11yrs old so i felt they did me a hugh favor by mentioning that to me.  To make a long story short,  they came out with a special crew to install the sand cast tiles.   About 2 1/2 months later my son on vacation found a chip of stucco had been gouged out of a waist high wall.  I called JBS ROOFING on Monday, Darian was out at our home Tuesday morning.  He repaired the gouge.  No questions asked, no saying that JBS Roofing wasn't responsible, he just fixed it, and he did it with a smile.  I would gladly RECOMMEND JBS ROOFING FOR ALL YOUR ROOFING ISSUES.

Bad day?

Called about 2.5 weeks ago to schedule an estimate via Myra, who I must admit, bought my confidence in this company.  My appointment was scheduled with Peter.  Appointment day and time came, no Peter, no call.  Called JB & Sons and spoke with Myra again who confirmed my address on her appointment log and said she'd call Peter and circle back.  Once again, no call, no Peter.

I guess I'm happy to learn this is who Jim Brown & Sons is now vs. learning it later after they touched my roof.  Great representation guys but don't bother...someone else was all too eager to pick up the business.

I just had a new roof put on after waiting 2 months.  Since the last storm we had, all roofing companies were so busy.  Hats off to one wonderful employee, Al Benedict, who put on a new roof all by himself.  He was amazing.  It took almost 2 weeks to complete, and he did a fantastic job.  He called me everyday to tell me what time he was coming.  I would recommend JB Roofing anytime.  Thanks, Al.

Jim Brown and Sons has been doing roofing in the Valley ever since I was a kid. They have always treated me right and had a fair price. They have done several roofing jobs for me and my friends that turned out great. They have a 5 year warranty no questions asked on their residential roofs when most companies only offer a year and these guys will be around to be there if any issues come up unlike many fly by night roofing companies out there.

The roofing crews are never on time.  Always, late.  I am still waiting today for the foam crew.  I was to be the first appointment of the day.  They were to arrive around 7:30 - 8:00 am.  It is now 8:58 am and no show and no courtesy call.  I called Bob Deheer and left a message and I left a message with Robert Dishman.  Apparently they are all in meetings.  The gutter crew was the only shining star for Jim Brown and Sons.  They met their time commitment and where great.  Also, one of the whirly birds on the roof is not positioned correctly, and is not turning.  I now have a call back from Bob Deheer, who told me yesterday I would be the first appointment today, he is now saying that the crew will be here between noon and 2pm.  This roofing crew has no respect for a customers time.  I am completely disgusted with this crew and their supervisor.  I have now left a message with VP Valorie Brown Miller and am awaiting her call back.  I want the whirlybird fixed today.  Also, I was going to have additional gutter work done by this company, but have requested that she cancel it. And I want an email from her confirming it is cancelled.  I will no long do business with this company.  It's too bad, because the gutter crew and manager were the only redeeming factor.  I will not pay any additional work to Jim Brown and Son's Roofing.  Today was the last straw! I had the red flag when I first tried to get scheduled for the roof work and Mark who never called me in a months time to schedule.  He apparently no longer works there.  I should have moved on to another roofer after that fiasco.

A little over a year ago I had Jim Brown and Sons Roofing Company come over to give me an estimate on replacing some cracked and broken clay tiles on the roof. When the estimator came over she suggested to also have the flat roof resealed. I have signed the contract with them for the suggested work and they came over and according to them completed the job, i.e. replace the roof tiles and seal the all the flat roof portions. I have paid them when they said they completed the job.
However, a few months ago I was walking around the house and have observed that that the roof tile they were replacing above the garage door did not have mortar in between like the rest of them. I have called them to come back and to give me an estimate on replacing some other cracked tile. When the estimator came over he checked the roof and he asked who did the work before. I told them that it was them and he said that they did not complete everything but they will come over and complete it because it was still within one year warranty period.
When the second person from Jim Brown arrived he went on the roof and said that he cannot do it because he did not have the proper equipment. At that point I have climbed up the roof and checked it myself and have almost felt off the leather because all the tiles were randomly scattered on the roof.
It took seven visits from the company to finally finish the job that I have paid them to do. And that was because the house was for sale and when the home inspector pointed out that some of the flat portions of the roof were not even sealed.
Most of their roofers were not competent or they were just trying to take an advantage of me for not climbing on the roof and checking their work when they have said they have completed it.
