Great response and very good quality work at a good value.   Prepped and painted the exterior of our home in 3 days.   Recommended them to our neighbors.

Charles and his two sons did an amazing job on the exterior of my home.

After the initial estimate, it took me some time to get my HOA to approve of my colors. Once I received my approval, I contacted Charles and he had someone power washing my house the next day as well as doing some initial pre-work to my stucco and trenching the home to allow for paint to be applied to later. Paint was delivered on this day as well.

We let everything dry from the power wash the next day (day 2) and on day 3 his crew continued prep work, including fixing the wood, stucco patching, filling in holes as well as taping off and prepping for paint. They started painting late on that day and made good progress. They had two painters for the duration of the project. One who was spraying and one who was hand painting the wood on the top of my home. Both painters were very efficient and it was made obvious they knew exactly what they were doing.

Day 4 and 5 the crew worked hard with continuous communication about progress as well as allowing me to let my dog out between their breaks. Day 5 they completed, and the result was fantastic. My neighbors all built their home around the same time as me (10 years ago) and have all started painting. Both of my neighbors have commented on the great work, how professional the crew was, and how the end product looks amazing. Even the house down the street made sure to comment yesterday when I walked by.

I couldn't have asked for a better team to complete my exterior painting. American Family did a great job for me, and this is why I wanted to take the time and write this longer review. I plan to utilize them in the future for any future painting needs.

It is really hard to find a contractor that is a good value, responsive and does great work. Charles is that contractor!

Charles did an exterior painting for my house, and I am very satisfied with his work! Charles had the most reasonable price among ~10 companies from which I received a quote. He also finished the entire exterior work in ~2 days which was a quick turnaround. I would definitely recommend his services to anyone who needs the paint work!

Charles came out right away and walked me through the details and process for repainting our flaking and chipping block wall. It wraps around our yard almost 300 linear feet. He was able to squeeze us in within a couple days onto their schedule and His crew showed up first thing in the morning as promised. They got right to work and had the entire job completed within about a half day. They even took some extra steps to repair some of the eroded block and areas that had holes. His crew did a great job with attention to detail, masking things off, no spilled paint or overspray. They also took care not to damage any of our landscaping. Charles came at the end of the job to inspect and chat with us a bit. This will be our painting company going forward.

Arizona Family Painting came out and painted the exterior of our home and the perimeter fence in October 2021, and they did such a great job! They worked quickly (the whole thing was done in 1.5 days), the price was very good, and everyone associated with this company was a joy to work with. I did a lot of research before choosing Arizona Family Painting, and I am so glad I did.

One thing I did before they came out was use the color tool on the Sherwin-Williams website, loading in photos of my house and painting them different colors with the Color Snap Visualizer. This helped me choose exactly the colors I wanted. (One trick: use the define area tool to add color to a section of your photo.) In fact, I sent screen shots of the colored-in photos to Charles, which made things really clear for the painters when they were doing the job.

I can't believe I waited so long to have my house painted. It is an improvement I notice and appreciate every single day.

My wife and I wanted to get our exterior of our house painted so we began to research licensed companies online. We found Arizona Family Painting on Yelp and decided to message them to get a quote. Charles had his son stopped by our house within 48 hours and gave us a quote.

QUALITY:
Our painting team (Dabby) and his family took an incredible amount of time to ensure ONLY quality was delivered. I watched them throughout the day to ensure the painting was being done correctly and it was, by far. They took EXTRA care of properly and correctly masking off our gates, walls, and turf.

CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Charles, his sons, and our painting team were top notch in customer service. They really took the time to walk us through the different paint colors, gave us recommendations, and made sure that no matter what, we were happy, even if that meant switching the paint colors a couple times. Above and beyond great customer service.

PRICE:
Beyond fair! We had a few other licensed contractors give us quotes to do the exterior and their prices were high. Charles gave us a very fair (great) deal to do the entire outside. They beat all other competitors prices, especially since we changed colors AFTER we had already had other paint made.

SPEED:
To power wash, prep, mask, paint, and do touch-ups only took 3 days to paint our entire exterior of the home. It was not only fast, but done with accuracy and quality. Charles even showed up to do the final walkthrough to do all the touchups (which was very minor). They got it done right the first time.

CHARLES (OWNER):
He is stern, picky, and demands the job gets done right the first time for his clients. He only hires the BEST painters. He is old school and his expectations is high for his employees to ensure they deliver the BEST service and quality. He does not tolerate a sloppy job. Trust me when I say, yo want Charles to oversee your project as he makes sure it is done right the first time.

We own several rental properties and now we know who to hire for all our painting needed from here on out.

Charles is very detailed oriented, which I really liked from the beginning. He detailed what needs to be done, not just a one line quote, and gave competitive pricing. He dropped in numerous times to check progress on the ongoing work. His crew does great work and is hardworking. We recently moved into a new 2500 square foot home and after living here for a bit we started to notice that the exterior of the house was definitely in need of a refresh. We discovered through talking with neighbors that our house hadn't been painted in at least 15 years. On top of that, our home was the model home in our development, and had a very different paint color to every other house on the street. Charles was really accommodating as we had to schedule fairly far in advance as we were waiting on a new garage door to be installed before painting the house. Charles took it all in stride and had no issues with some of the requirements of our HOA. When it came to the painting, the team was prompt, precise and respectful of our home. Charles and his crew were great to deal with and did an excellent job.  Living in AZ part time added some hurdles I encountered as I tried to get the painting of my house completed while I would not be here.  After scheduling and completing numerous bids for this work I appreciated his approach.  Since the house was recently purchased he looked at the pictures posted on line,  saw the SQ footage and gave me a quote with out having to come see the house.

Arizona Family Painting originally gave us a quote in 2019 when we first purchased our home. They were recommended to us by our neighbors, whose home they had painted, and they raced about how helpful they had been. We weren't ready to do it quite yet, so when I contacted them to come out again almost a year later for a fresh quote, I was blown away when Charles asked me if I remembered the amount we had originally been given and honored it without even doing another walk around the house. There was another home in the neighborhood who's paint scheme I admired, and he drove over to it and compared it against our HOA list, and narrowed it down to the scheme that matched. The next day he even brought over the paint sample book for us to review!

The painters were prompt, clean-cut, and very polite. They patiently answered questions and let me know the general plan for the day. They painted our house on the hottest day of the year, and they HUSTLED the entire time. When the job was completed, all the trash was removed and patio furniture back. I honestly cannot find a SINGLE area that I would have asked them to touch up, and our home had some pretty significant repairs for the prep work. I would recommend them to ANYONE who is looking for honest, high-quality repair/paint work.

We're in the process of listing an investment property we own and the interior needed repainting . Charles came out the day after I reached out and gave us a quote that was more than fair. We scheduled the work for the following week and they were done in less than two days. Our project was difficult as we had purchased an existing home and added extensions.
We got 4 bids and some were high pressure marketing experts but only average painters.  Some were promise the moon types, but only Charles took the time to really inspect all facets of our property and educate us on the  proper sealing products for each surface.  This ensured a first class paint job for the long term.  This takes extra time and more masking which most companies want no part of.  They just want to spray and go on to the next job.  Charles is a true professional and only cares about doing what is right.

Charles Johnston and his team were absolutely terrific.  I have had so many poor customer service companies work for me in the past and it is quite refreshing to have someone who goes the extra mile to make sure that your experience is a great one!  

This is a family run business and they were such a pleasure to work with from the very beginning.  I was near the end of my RV Garage project and realized that if I were to paint the new garage the same colors as the house that they would not match due to fading of the paint on our house. I had the garage guys start painting the new colors we chose on the garage. I then contacted many painters and Charles contacted me immediately and his son came out within an hour to meet with me to discuss various options and costs for our house project.  The quoted price was very reasonable.  

Charles came out before the project started to walk the property to make sure that he had an understanding of my expectations.

Henry was the lead on the 2-man crew and he also walked around the property to make sure that he understood what I wanted before he started this project.  They fixed all cracks, chips, imperfections that existed on both the stucco home and the block exterior wall around the property.  They also power washed the entire house and wall.  They took extreme care while moving all of the front and back furniture and made sure to cover all of it with plastic wrapping.  This was very important, since my last painters ruined a few pieces of expensive wrought iron furniture with over-spray.  They also covered up all of the travertine in the back and pavers in the front.  They covered the entire pool to make sure that no paint got into the pool.  It did take quite some time to mask everything on the property, but this is definitely the most important part of the job in my mind.  

Once the painting started it went pretty fast and Henry made sure to spray both vertically and horizontally to give the two coats of paint it needed.  After the painting was completed, I had noticed that three areas on the patio ceiling were not completed to my satisfaction, since there were 3 small cracks that had been filled with caulk, but I wanted it to be smooth like the rest of the ceiling.  No worries, Charles had Henry hot mud the ceiling and sand it after drying and then repainted these areas.  They turned out perfect.  They also went around the entire property and did various touch-ups to make sure that everything was absolutely perfect.  They cleaned a few sun shades that got a little bit of paint on them.  

They couldn't complete the extra painting on the garage, since the garage door still hadn't arrived to be installed.  Charles said that I should just call them once the door is installed and he will get his guys over to mask the pop-outs off around the garage door and then spray paint the door.  What great customer service!  

I admit that I am a very difficult person to please and deal with.  Charles always answered all of my texts immediately and dropped whatever he was doing a few times and drove out to my property to make sure everything was to my liking.  He was very personable and did everything that he could to make sure that I was extremely pleased with all of their work.  Henry the painter and his helper were very nice and also made sure to accommodate my wishes.  He doesn't have 20 to 30 jobs going at one time, but only has two crews and a couple houses going at one time, so that he can focus on each client and make sure that they are completely taken care of.

I have a 4000 sq. foot ranch house, half acre lot wall, and a 45-foot RV Garage and it took them 3.5 days to complete the entire project.  My last house painter took several weeks to complete and it was nowhere near the quality.

I can't express enough how wonderful this experience has been and he definitely is the #1 service provider that I have had here in Arizona over the past 18 years, of which I have had several hundred.  Great work Charles and thank you for a job well done!

This a revised update to my review of Sept. 2019.  After talking to the owner Charles, he made it clear that he would do whatever he had to do, to remedy the situation.  He had his guys come out and completely strip, recaulk and paint the areas that needed it.  So, I have to say that even though I was originally dissatisfied, he made things right.  Hard to find a businessman who will go out of his way to satisfy his customers.  I have to give him props.  He came through.  For this reason, I amend my original rating.

Great fast service! I called for a quote and the job is complete one week later. Thank you to Charles and his crew of miracle workers. The stucco is fixed, cracks are gone, and the deck looks brand new!

Charles Johnston and his crew did a great job painting the exterior of our Chandler home. The process was simple and affordable. I wish that I'd done it a few years ago.

I just hired AFP to paint our home exterior. My wife and I had decided on a color scheme by looking online and were unaware of how different the actual colors could be from what was displayed on our phones/monitors. Charles went above and beyond to correct the base color to our liking. We really couldn't have asked for better customer service. His lead painter, Henry, was also polite and professional. Price was competitive and well worth the service that we received. Would definitely recommend AFP!

Charles and his team are super friendly and very responsive. Of all the companies I requested quotes from, his was fair, honest and competitive. I just had my house stuccoed and painted by his team and they completed the whole thing in a week. It looks great!

I Was not impressed. I asked them to come in and give me an estimate for interior paint in our office. Someone came in but I never got the estimate. I called and emailed them and never heard back. Unprofessional

I couldn't be happier with the work of Charles' crew. I badly needed a repaint of some awful colors that I painted myself (a Terra cotta attempt gone wrong) and now my house looks great. I can honestly say that I am no longer embarrassed to have people over to my home.

The combination of quality work and great customer service is hard to come by but Charles provides that for his customers. I'm so happy with how the house turned out and I highly recommend him.

Charles and his crew were always on time and very professional. I am so pleased with the results. What was most impressive was when the paint store made the wrong color, Charles just made it right. I appreciate his professionalism and integrity. I would definitely hire them again.

Charles and his crew were timely, efficient, incredibly friendly, and easy to work with. He responded to a yelp quote request and followed up with a phone call soon after. He had an opening within a few days and offered a very reasonable estimate, with nothing due until the whole project was finished and we were satisfied with the end result. The actual painters on site doing the work were so kind and also patient when I started second guessing the final paint color...they painted a sample for me to make sure I liked it on the porch. We sent out our quote requests Monday morning and the entire house, garage, gate, and back walls were completed by Friday morning (the actual work began Wednesday morning). Charles is pretty much our dad now, and we are already missing having the guys here everyday.

The crew paid attention to detail and did a quality job. They were genuinely concerned about my satisfaction with the job. I highly recommend this company!

AZ Family Painting did a great job repairing and painting our house.  There were some stucco repairs and drywall cracks which needed attention.  They did an excellent job on those and the exterior painting of our  home.  We asked for Sherwin-Williams Emerald paint and their quote was very reasonable.  We received bids from other contractors which were nearly twice as much.  Charles was very responsive and accommodating.

I had been in dire need of exterior and interior house painting for a long time but had such bad luck with contractors in the past that I did not want to even try to find one.  Our neighbors on Nextdoor recommended Arizona Family Painting (Charles Johnston 602-295-1115) with such enthusiasm that I decided to invite them over to provide an estimate for painting the exterior, repairing and repainting the stucco on my block wall, and painting the interior.  We started out with the exterior . . . Charles quoted me a price within the range that I was anticipating and offered a discount if I would allow them to start the next day because they had a cancellation.  I told him there was too much prep work for me to do in that short of time and he assured me that his team will take care of everything.  That is exactly what they did!  I thought my block wall was beyond repair and they brought it back to life.  My house looks brand new!  After that, they painted my interior.  They took down pictures, patched holes, and painted ceilings, walls, and closet doors.  Charles provided me color samples so I could pick out exactly what I needed and helped me make the tough decisions.  In just 7 business days, the Arizona Family Painting team finished the entire exterior and interior.   I had the pleasure of meeting his crews and was pleased with their enthusiasm and attention to detail.   This company is licensed, bonded, and has an A+ rating from the Arizona Better Business Bureau.

Charles of Az family painting was a great person to deal with and takes great pride in his work and is very maticulous in his expectations of his crew who were also very nice and easily communicate with questions and just very friendly. They took thier time in prepping the home and that is a key in a fantastic looking paint job. Charles runs the company from a long line of painting professionals and really knows his products and gave us a very fair price, he reccomends options other folks do not to extend the life of your paint. They were not the cheapest nor the most expensive and we cant say enough how happy we are that we had a project completed with our home that was completely pain free and our expectations were set very high and we are thrilled with the outcome. We have had several neighbors comment on how great our paint looks. If you want a exceptional paint job that will look amazing and set your home apart from the neighbors then I highly reccomend  Arizona Family Painting.

Warning...long review...but ALL good.  I cannot say enough about Charles and his crew. I purchased a home in Mesa, AZ in October 2019. It was dark and dingy, but I knew it had potential.  I had spoken to a couple of local painters but once they attended, didn't want to do the job.  I admit, it was going to take ALOT of TLC. Enter Charles.... from the first time I spoke to Charles (owner), I knew he was on the same page as I was.  He went and saw my home and then provided an estimate. Not only was his price in line, his knowledge, respect, and communication was top notch.  A little background....I am in Canada. I chose AZ family painters from their yelp reviews.  Charles kept me in the loop and even video chatted with me before and after the painting. Being in Canada, I was trusting Charles and his crew. I was NOT disappointed. I would recommend Charles to ANY one looking for a painter who still believes in workmanship and Customer Satisfaction. Charle's communication was bar none, the best I have ever witnessed (and I'm the owner of a restoration company in Canada). I only wish he was located where I am because he would definitely be on my preferred list. After the interior of my home was painted, I had Charles attend and paint the exterior. After a nightmare situation where a tenant trashed my rental home, Charles (owner) and his team at Arizona Family Painting stepped right in and did the most phenomenal job with getting my home ready to sell. What I didn't mention was that I live in Washington and my rental home is in Arizona, which created great stress on me. But, Charles from the first phone call assured me that he would get the home restored and painted to look like new. Because both me and other family members have used his company in years past, I had absolute confidence that he would able to make that happen. Throughout the job Charles was extremely attentive to me with phone calls and texts, and kept me updated with their progress and schedule. And just as he promised, the job finished on time and on budget. After the job was completed, Charles texted me pictures, and I was absolutely blown away by their quality of work . It far exceeded what I could have expected. When I compared the before and after pictures I could hardly believe that I was looking at the same home. What I didn't even mention was Charles went above and beyond the call of duty to help me with other work that needed to be done to my home. He called in favors with his friend that's a carpet vendor and installer and he replaced doors that were damaged too. Honestly, I would use Arizona Family Painting again and again and again, and I would recommend them to anyone.
