All Terrain Landscaping

Four years ago I tried to save money on landscaping for a new home. Big mistake. Four months ago I searched for a quality landscaping service. Ultimately, I tentatively selected All Terrain Landscaping. Adam and Natalie came to the house on time, prepared and intent on honest service. I was immediately and pleasantly impressed. The design proposals and bid came and I was more impressed. They knew the terrain, drainage, water supply, plants and HOA limitations. It was a little more expensive but WORTH every penny - quality and service.
During the project, All Terrain was on time, easy to work with and went the extra mile on design, watering, soil, pavers, granite and plants. Most pleasant, efficient, hard working crew who thoroughly cleaned at the end of each phase. Adam and Natalie followed up on every phase and instructed on maintenance and function. The desert and eco- friendly landscape is beautiful. Plants (even a large ocotillo) are green, flowering and  thriving.
I have owned several homes and used different landscapers over many years. All Terrain is head and shoulders above the rest!

The team follows through on their promises, provide wonderful quality, and consistently engage on any quality matter including going outside of warranty periods if they judge it's in their and their customers' interest. Hi! I was referred to All Terrain and had one of their team members come over to do an initial walk through, talk about design concepts and ideas, take pictures to create a plan... all that went fine. However, that was the last I had heard from All Terrain, 3 weeks have now passed (they told me I would be contacted 1 week later to go over next steps).

Very odd experience, as the job I was looking to complete was a fairly large project ($50-100K depending on numerous factors). My business will be going elsewhere.

I also tried to follow up and call them to see if something odd happened, but no one answered their business line 2 days in a row....

Pass.

Adam and Natalie, the whole team, was amazing! Our yard was a total disaster, and needed a ton of work. Other companies wouldn't even touch it but Adam didn't skip a beat. He (and his whole team) was reliable, took the time to talk to us and explain things, and we always felt they were there for us. I would recommend them to anyone with no hesitation

We used Alll Terrain Landscape to do a major backyard project... We removed all of our lime stone and replaced it with travertine. We are on a half an acre and we did our patio, all of our walkways, all around our pool, a border around the grass area, as well as a picnic area.  It was a huge project... Cost over $30,000. Initially the project went well.  The best thing I can say about the project was the designer... She was super easy to work with, she listened, she checked into the project to make sure it was going smoothly.  However, during the process, before we ever even started the project, we were very clear with them that we had two issues that we needed them to work with us on. First, we do Animal Rescue so at the time we had eight dogs so we needed to make sure that we had access to the backyard for as long as possible so they could go outside to go to the bathroom. We also we're going out of town the weekend after the project started. We made it very clear that the dogs needed to have access to the backyard which meant that they needed at least a small part of the back patio so they could go out the dog door and we would fence off the rest of the area. It came to the time when we were going out of town and right before we left, they laid the travertine right up to the back door but it had not been grouted and could not be walked on.  We called to express our frustration that we could not have been any more clear that we needed to have access to the patio for the dogs to get outside when we went out of town that weekend. They seemed completely unconcerned. The next issue was that on a Friday afternoon, they left all of their trash all over our front yard, left for the day, and were not planning on being back until the following Tuesday as that Monday was a holiday. I'm not talking construction materials... I'm talking about actual trash all over our front yard. I called them from the airport just before I was getting on the plane very upset about this telling them that they could not leave that mess all over our front yard, we have neighbors and we live in an HOA.  Our project manager Adam refused to call me back and instead called my husband because Adam felt that I was too upset. Talk about sexist and disrespectful!  

That was in February. The project ended and we pointed out multiple areas where they they left their pencil marks that they used to mark cuts in multiple places all over the tile. We were told that was normal and the sun would just bleach that out... What?!?!  You don't lay tile that has pencil marks all over it and if you do then you need to remove the pencil marks. The next issue was multiple large areas that they did not grout. They sent someone out to re-grout but still we had major areas that weren't grouted. They sent someone else out to re-grout again but still we have many areas without grout.  

They also spilled so much construction material into our pool.  We had large piles of mortar that turned into cement all over the sides and bottom of our pool.  I told Adam about this and he said our pool guy would just be able to brush this down.  Nope, it was like cement.  Our pool guy tried several times but couldn't get it off.  So, I waited until the pool warmed up enough for me to actually get in the pool and again, this stuff was like cement, it could not be removed.  I stopped calling Adam about this issue because he repeatedly blew me off and went directly to a supervisor at the office who finally sent someone out to clean it up.  We had to drain our entire pool in order to get all this stuff off the bottom of the pool.  So frustrating!

Fast forward to now... Six months later and we still have many, many areas that have no grout. We have multiple areas that have grass and weeds that grow up through the tile because there should be polymer grout in the seams to prevent this from happening. We have cracked tiles. They made a cover for our pool basket but the cover sits up so high above the actual lid that covers the hole where the skimmer basket is that a child stepped on it and it broke in half from the weight.  

I called them on Monday to address these issues and I was told someone would come out on Thursday. It got to be mid day on Thursday and I didn't hear from anyone so I called the office and was told that they had talked to the project manager who said that they were going to wait until sometime later in October to come out and check these issues because it was too hot. I kid you not... A landscaping company in the Phoenix area said that they would not come out and look at our issues because It's too hot.  It's in the low 100s upper 90s this week and next... What about that is too hot to come out and take a look at these issues?  We paid over $30,000 for this backyard and the customer service has been ridiculous. I would not only not use this company again but I would not recommend them.

Incredibly frustrating experience!

I'm only writing this review to help keep anyone from making the same mistake I did.

If you love highly frustrating experiences, go ahead and hire this company.  
If you like to avoid agonizing frustration, move on and find another company.

First, like I assume everyone else does, I researched dozens of companies for our tree removal project.  After seeing all the misleading, great reviews for All Terrain Landscaping and Maintenance here on Yelp, I decided to hire them for our project...  Tremendous Mistake!

First, there were basic communication issues, such as not communicating until the very morning of, which day the work would take place.  I called at 7am, asking for an update on the project and was told I would receive a call when they were expected to arrive.  I have to put my dogs away and open our patio gate to let workers inside, so I definitely needed at least a few minutes notice, but I had no update whatsoever.  
Some workers decided to help themselves, climb over the wall, started cutting off large pieces of tree, and freaking my dogs out.  I came out to ask them to stop so I could open the gate for them.  No one spoke any English.  Then I discovered, this was NOT the company I hired for the job!

The company I hired for this project was All Terrain Landscaping and Maintenance.  This was some second-rate tree company with a ONE-STAR average on Yelp!  
Completely unacceptable, as this was NOT the company I hired!  
Our HOA is so incredibly strict, we have to get approval for every company and need records of the companies we use or we could be fined.  I had no idea if the company sent here to work was even insured, which could cause all kinds of problems we did not ask for.  I was furious!

To make it all worse, Adam from All Terrain Landscaping and Maintenance was such a disrespectful, unprofessional person to deal with, he had absolutely no care about this whatsoever.  He tried to make this my fault!  How could I be responsible for this?

I couldn't even communicate with the workers because none of them claimed to speak any English.

Then, to make this all so much worse, I arrived home after work to find a huge mess!  Apparently, since the company I hired never even showed up to the work site that day, we now have to play the blame game of 'Who's Responsible for the cleanup?' which of course lands on me.

I had to hire a clean up company to come do all the cleanup of my house/patio/yard, my neighbor's patio AND the mess in the common area, or I would be fined by our HOA.  This clean up came from my own sweat and wallet.  I have repeatedly contacted and discussed this with Adam, and he's such a prick, he doesn't care whatsoever, and refuses to accept responsibility.  The original estimate I received from Adam listed 'Clean up' as one of the services they provided, so I assumed they were handling the cleanup, but instead I now had to pay twice for it.

Now, we have bigger, legal problems to deal with.

Again, I post this review as a warning to others.  I truly hope you do not have to deal with the stress, expense, unprofessionalism and frustration associated with Adam and this company.

All Terrain is absolutely a quality contractor. From 3D design to install, everything was a really smooth process. Extremely well done and the communication from Adam, Natalie and other crew members was superb! They were also fantastic with thinking of all the little details when engineering water features, electrical work and accommodating A/C units at different grade than the rest of the yard. I highly recommend All Terrain Landscaping!

I had to do grading floor around our house for drainage issue and remove old tree stump from the ground. I got quotes from 6 different companies. All Terrain Landscaping gave me the most affordable quote. The process was very smooth and hassle free. Adam listened and communicated multiple times with me regarding my concern and goal of the project and applied every single little detail requested. Adam and his crews were on time on the project day, and they started the project right away at 6 am and finished everything before 12 pm. His crews were extremely professional. They kept checking with me about their progress, and gave me multiple chances to tell them my input. Could you please add more dirt here? Could you please make slope steeper here? Could you please dig these area deeper? Whenever I requested something regarding the project, it was done instantly and the crews would double check with me. Is this how you wanted? Wow, wow, wow. The crews were so professional and, I was extremely satisfied and happy with their work.
Make sure you get a quote from this company before you make your decision on any project in landscaping. Excellent on everything!!!

I contacted this company for an estimate and was told that I was out of their service area. Their website says they serve the greater Phoenix area. I am located in central Phoenix. Not sure what the issue is, but I find it pretty unprofessional.

All Terrain Landscaping and Maintenance is awesome!! They really care about their clients and want to ensure that you are happy and satisfied. I didn't know it was possible for a person to know so much about trees and landscaping! Made me feel great and that I was with true professionals. I have had my fair share of bad ones and I was very happy and delighted to know that it was far from those! These guys are very professional from start to finish and I would definitely hire them again! Thank you!

This is my second review for All Terrain Landscaping. Have them put winter grass in for the past 4 years. Always a great job. Fast and efficient. Good crew. Clean up after themselves. I highly recommend All Terrain Landscaping! Adam and Natalie have a great eye for detail and they are meticulous about quality. They are reliable, honest, and do a great job every time. Adam and his team do a great deal of landscaping, design, and install for us when we are booked a couple months in advance. It's great to have a business that I can refer to other's and can be confident that they will deliver the highest quality results.

Want to have a firm come out, ask what you'd like done, scope the project, make recommendations, and then never hear from them again?  If you do (and who does?), All Terrain is your firm!  Had them come out to bid a relatively easy and quick project. Was told I'd have a quote within 24 hours. Nothing. A week passed, then I received a voicemail saying I'd have a quote within 24 hours. 4 more days passed. Still nada. In a marketplace where there are literally hundreds of landscaping companies in the Valley, customer service and responsiveness to new business can set you apart. Or, set you back. My experience with All Terrain is the latter. Clearly my business was not valued. I recommend you look elsewhere.

Trust this team with every ounce of my being! Consulate professionals who know exactly what you want. Cannot stress enough how great this crew is. Natalie is a talented designer who can transform just about anything. Won't completely break the bank but not cheap. Worth every penny. Look forward to using them many times over.

The best tree trimmers I have had so far.  I had a tough time finding a company that would come out to trim my palm trees that were making a mess in my pool before I left on vacation.  They not only showed up on time, they did an amazing job and did a great job cleaning up.

I asked All Terrain to do a clean-up on my front and backyard, and they did an amazing job! We have have used many different landscaping companies over the years, and I have never had a company that was so detail-oriented.  My yard looks amazing!  Communication with staff-- from scheduling to estimates to billing was all streamlined and very efficient. I will definitely be hiring again.

It doesn't get any better than this. First off, let me say I've experienced the worst of the worst when it comes to contractors so I know how bad it could be. However, All Terrain is the most professional, friendly, efficient and prompt company I've ever worked with. Adam came out and talked with us about our yard and I basically told him to do whatever he thought would look the best, because I read the reviews here and trusted that he knew what to do. I am SO glad I did!
The yard was completely transformed from dust/dirt to a beautiful and aesthetically pleasing hardscape. I was amazed at how much everyone got done in only 8 hours (it took 6 men working to get that done). I had total confidence in everyone from Michelle who answers the phones to Adam, who came out so quickly to the hard workers that were so meticulous and professional at the job site. I would recommend All Terrain to anyone wanting to avoid the pitfalls of cheap or DIY projects. These guys are professionals. Cleaned up after themselves, and advised us on how to care for the yard.
I will be calling All Terrain to maintain this beautiful yard and may ask about the back yard now!

Update: unfortunately I had to adjust my rating after work was done because of the lack of aftercare and followup. Adam advised me to call once grass began to come up for treatment, which is essential when you don't put down landscaping fabric, as Adam suggested when he gave the initial estimate.
I called repeatedly every day for a week, being told by the very nice receptionist that he would call me back, and would come out later in the week. Calls were never returned and weed/grass control had to be contracted to someone else.
seems like he just couldn't be bothered to provide the promised work which was a small job, once the major work had been completed. Very disappointing because of the great reviews here and the exceptional work done up to this point.

I use YELP a lot and find reviews to be cornerstone to using services. I did not see any reviews on this company however I am more than pleased to write one today. We contacted all terrain among other companies to provide a quotation. They responded the fastest, and have met and exceeded all expectations. Their people are easy to deal with, process is simple and they do quality work. We need to do yard cleanup, sprinkler repairs, pre-emergent, post emergent and some arborist quotations. They worked with our schedule and were flexible to make changes I will use them again and highly recommend!

I did a complete renovation of my back yard including a new travertine pool deck, extending the pool deck, raised planter bed, new grass, a ton of softscape, grantite rock etc.... It boiled down to All Terrain and another company, i decided that i liked the small family aspect of All Terrain and they were able to come in at a lower overall cost than the other company. From start to finish Adam and Natalie were highly responsive, easy to work with, shared amazing ideas on space utilization and took the time to understand what was important to me and what i wanted. This allowed them to align my thoughts on paper and create an amazing, colorful, clean look to my backyard with the much needed added privacy from the 2 story house behind me. Its better than i could have imagined.

I saw a negative review for their responsiveness after the project..... this hasn't been my experience, Adam and Natalie have both been back to the house several times to check the plants, adjust water settings and address any concern that i have had.

Dont go anywhere else, save yourself the endless search, i searched for 4 months before making the decision and talked with 5 different companies,i will use All Terrain from here on out and i will be using them for the front yard next year!

I called and talked with Michelle today and what a wonderful experience! She gave me some tips for revitalizing my lawn and told me that I could try a do-it-yourself option as opposed to calling them out because it would be more costly!

Yes..you heard that right!  She told me I could do it myself for much cheaper and that it would be a pretty easy thing to do to save me some money! :)  I LOVE saving money! Lol!

I had All Terrain Landscaping come out to look at my trees. Jamie was informative and knowledgeable about my landscaping. He gave me advice on how to care for all of plants including my trees that I was sure was dying. I told him about the sprinklers that stopped working in our backyard. Jamie offered to replace a part for a reasonable fee.  I had my sprinklers running in 30 min, I had other quotes to fix this same problem for 1,700$ and he fixed it for 150$

Great customer service!  They made the quoting process easy and fast.  Jeremy was very helpful.

I wish I could award All Terrain 6 stars.  Adam and Natalie are fantastic. I wanted my front yard completely renovated and Natalie and her crew completed the job in a day and a half. Natalie's design has beautifully transformed my yard. I'll soon be giving them the job of renovating my back yard. This is the landscaping company you want to hire.

We hired all terrain to do a complete install of our back yard at our new home. Natalie and Adam came out and did a complete design with us. Natalie has a great eye for detail and we felt that they understood what we wanted with what little description we gave. They offered tips and advice to take our design to fantastic levels.  We had some close calls with weather and unexpected grading issues and Adam kept in contact all the way thru. What we appreciated the most was that Adam would always call and get final confirmation before starting a major phase of the project to ensure we were all on the same page which was huge relief.  I felt like I could trust his crew at my home without us there. They were always respectful of my property and very knowledgeable.  And I must say my yard looks pretty bomb.  We bought some high end finishes and spent more than originally anticipated but you get what you pay for and I truly think we paid for quality.  good job guys we are very happy!

After discussing our landscape overhaul with three companies, we decided to use AllTerrain Landscaping.  We are so happy we did!
Adam, Natalie and their crew (Tony and the guys) were extremely professional from start to finish and beyond. We have a large puppy and they even made friends with him.  Adam and Natalie took our vision and made it work beautifully.  From plant choices to color of granite to cement finishes to all out design, they were fantastic.   It didn't stop there.  The crew cleaned up after each long day of work and were very polite to our neighbors every time our neighbors asked what they were going to do today.  They use contractors for a small portion of the work, electricians and cement.  We were just as pleased with the contractors as we were with AllTerrain.  Six months after completing our landscape project I had a few plants die, they were quick to respond and offered to replace them at no charge.  They also followed up with many phone calls to make sure we were pleased with their work.  Well, we are VERY pleased with their work and so are our neighbors!  In fact, two neighbors have had their landscape projects done by AllTerrain. The compliments of how nice our landscape looks are still coming in by neighbors out riding their bikes or walking their dogs. Our project looks great now and with Natalie's design help, it will look great in years to come.
Let's face it, there are a huge amount of choices for landscaping.  What makes AllTerrain stand out is their customer service and follow-up.

All Terrain recently turned my dirt backyard into a desert oasis. The ideas Natalie had and the design she proposed were more than I could have hoped for. Adam and his crew worked extremely efficient and were very detail oriented. I would highly recommend All Terrain for any landscape needs you have.

Adam and his crew are here as we speak installing some drains and grading some areas of my new yard to make the water flow away from the foundation of my house. Adam was able to come the day I called (Thursday evening) to look at the yard and provided an estimate in a timely fashion (by Sunday afternoon). Once I accepted the estimate he said they would be there the NEXT MORNING! We were shocked at the speed but thrilled! They've been here most of the day and are courteous and professional. We will definitely call them again for any and all landscaping needs.

We contacted All Terrain for a one time clean up on our front yard.  This business was extremely professional and courteous from start to finish.  Michelle was very nice on the phone and returned my calls promptly.  Adam came out when he was scheduled, and I had an estimate that night.  His estimate was very detailed and easy to understand.  The crew did a great job on the clean up.  Natalie, the designer, went above and beyond to make sure we would be happy with the new plants that were being planted.  I would definitely recommend this business and will certainly use them in the future.

Natalie and Adam were very prompt and did an amazing job on my yard that I let go a little too long. They even cleaned the walkways when they finished. I will be hiring them for a front-yard installation soon!

They made this whole experience so easy and painless - got the estimate right away, very reasonable, made adjustments when requested and completed the work a few days later! Our front and back yards looks a million times better and we are so happy we went with this company for our yard clean up and cactus removal.

All Terrain Landscaping went above and beyond for me. They were able to fit me in quickly, showed up exactly on time, worked quickly, and did a super clean-up.  This job was to remove twenty-year-old shrubs along our front walk and entryway. The roots ran so deep and were so entrenched it really took a large effort to remove them. Neal, the team leader, was very friendly and knew exactly what he was doing. He and his crew left the place looking clean and sharp. He also gave me some good advice on what plants would now grow well in this area. They also capped off the drip irregation lines we no long need.  Could hardly tell large plants had ever even been there. There are several other landscaping projects I'm contemplating and now know that All Terrain Landscaping is the company I'll use if I should move forward with them. They know their business, are honest, and great to work with. Five Stars Plus!

Adam was great! He was prompt and responsive with his communication about the quote. The crew came out right away. They did a good job and the only thing I wish we could have done better was not trim my bushes so close but they will grow back so no harm no foul. I will talk with them about that the next time I have them out.

Absolutely love these folks!  Starting with the office staff ( I am drawing a blank on her name). She was friendly with a very positive attitude.  Adam, Natalie and their crew did an amazing job and were responsive to any questions I had.  I was able to get all of my backyard remodel done thru them, which included landscaping, travertine patio, and pergola cover.  I wanted a low maintenance backyard and am truly pleased with the outcome.  What an amazing group of people!

All Terrain Landscaping is amazing in every way!  They came out today to do a clean up of our yard and trim some trees.  We just recently moved into our home and it was terribly overgrown and a mess.  Adam came out to give us a quote.  He was super nice and very professional.  I received the quote from him very quickly and it was easy to talk back and fourth with him when I had any questions.  They were here bright and early this morning and got right to work.  I loved that they walked the yard with me first to tell me what they had in mind and to ask my opinion.  All the people working in the yard today were awesome and friendly and I couldn't believe how fast they worked!  Our house has been completely transformed and I couldn't be more happy!  We will absolutely have them back to help us maintain our beautiful yard!  Thank you All Terrain Landscaping!  You guys are AWESOME!  If we could give you more than 5 stars, we would!

These guys are awesome. They just finished turning my backyard from ugly to amazing and did it in two days. They demoed a lot of stuff, installed several shrubs and two palms, put in a sprinkler and drip system, laid sod down, as well as several other things. They are very organized, professional, talented, and you can tell they truly care about the work they do. It was very easy to communicate with them from first contact. Adam was very professional and always helped me understand what was going to be done. He sent me a quote very quickly and was easy to contact to discuss it and make changes. Natalie came in on the first day to really make sure our design was great. We left a lot of it up to her and we saw the attention to detail she put in. Tony was an absolute rockstar. He led the team and always made me feel great about the project. They cleaned everything up and really left the backyard better then it was. Their price was very reasonable and they always showed up on time. Even a neighbor told me they were impressed with how respectful they were to not be in anyone's way and how they cleaned up quickly. I highly recommend them for any of your landscaping needs. We will definitely use them for future projects!

All Terrain Landscaping is a five star company.  Great telephone and email communication.  I wanted two large cactus removed from my small yard.  Adam and Tony came out to check the job. Both were very professional and were able to do the job within two days.  Tony and his crew were on time and did a great job.  They clean up after the job and you would never know the large cactus were ever there.  I highly recommend All Terrain Landscaping.

The hardest working crew of landscapers i've ever seen. They were fast, efficient, polite, and incredibly hardworking. Our yard was an overgrown nightmare with trees to be removed, the ground to be leveled and rock to be put in - they got it done beautifully in one day! And their bid was spot on - the same and a little less than bids from other companies who couldn't get  us on their schedule as quickly as All Terrain could. Highly recommend!

All Terrain Landscaping is great! Adam, Natalie & their crew are punctual, reliable and friendly. I reside in California, however All Terrain manages a property I have in Arizona. I trust them to take care of the property when I am not available. They do bi-weekly maintenance, trim the trees, and maintain the irrigation system. I have been extremely pleased with their work and would highly recommend them.

Adam and his team are incredible! We called on them to trim some greenery; regrade a small area away from the house and refill with decorative rocks; and after grading appropriately, install pavers in our front sitting area. After agreeing to a very reasonable estimate, Adam and his crew were onsite the next morning. The work was completed over the course of three days (during the first Arizona heat wave). We couldn't be happier with the results. I applaud and completely recommend Adam and his crew.

All Terrain Landscaping is the landscaping company of choice!  I initially spoke with Adam about a clean up, trimming of our front and back yards, and topping of the entire property with rock.  At the time, I was in a different country and in a totally different time zone.  He was always responsive, either via phone or email and such a pleasure to deal with.  We live in East-East Mesa which he normally does not go out that far, but he had a look at the job and said yes, we will do it.  He handled everything in my absence and sent pictures after completion. It turned out absolutely beautiful! It looked like a totally different place after they were done.  Adam and his team went above and beyond what his estimate was and he stuck to it, a true man of his word.  They don't come any more honest.  We will have the opportunity to more things in our yard and Adam and All Terrain Landscaping will be the only choice!!
