Sean is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about lighting. I've had some very specific requests and he immediately knew which catalog to pull off of the shelf and which page to turn to. It's uncanny really. Best service by far across all the vendors I worked with during my remodel.

Must have driven by a hundred times. What a wonderful store! Incredible selection of beautiful fixtures, one or two actually took my breath away they were so lovely. And the prices are terrific, something for everyone from really great values to high end expensive showpieces.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff and even easy parking. We bought some table lamps and will be selecting new fixtures for a couple rooms in our home. Can't wait for our next visit. I never have to go to that awful, dreaded Home Depot again. This is what a store should be. Incredible!

Great selection, excellent pricing. Has same lighting as many high end websites at a better cost.

No customer service.  I went to this store to look for a kitchen light and kitchen cabinet knobs.  I clearly needed help but none of the 4 sales people there inquired if I needed
any.   I was the only customer in the store and stayed for at least 20 minutes wandering around.  I would have asked but after 10 minutes thought I'd see what would happen.  Obviously they don't care about sales.  I left and now I won't be going back.

Purchasing ceiling fan was a great experience.  Sales person knew everything and was very helpful.  However, experience took a turn for the worse when the warehouse shipped the fan to the wrong store. How hard is is it read an order and follow it.  Apparently too hard for these guys.  Extremely disappointed!!!

Very courteous and helpful even when I just needed an inexpensive replacement part for a really cool fan I bought there years ago. I was helped by two different people who spent some time with me in spite of the fact that Seattle Lighting would make nothing on the transaction.
I ended up buying an additional fan since they are such cool fans and have been discontinued, and he even gave me a discount on it and said he would ship it to me no charge.
Excellent!

Came to this location due to its closeness to my place. I should have read the reviews for this location before coming here, but didn't, so I regret it. I was looking for a lamp base to go with my shade and found the perfect one. It was stocked in-store, so I picked it up right there. However I needed an adapter since the base and shade had different fittings. I was shown a clip adapter in their catalog, it wasn't in-stock so had to place a special order. I was told it would take 3 days to arrive from their Mukilteo warehouse and that they'd contact me when it arrived. I waited two weeks. Called their store and was told the item hadn't arrived yet. I waited another week and still no phone call.

By this time, I went to Harold's Lighting in Wallingford and bought what I needed without having to wait, as they had it in-stock. I called S.L. to cancel the order, I was told by their associate that someone from another department would call me to confirm my cancellation. Still no phone call. A week later, I go back to S.L. to double check on the cancellation. They said the item arrived 3 days ago (a couple days after I called to cancel and 3 weeks after I originally placed the order). I never gotten any phone call or voicemail letting me know the item arrived. Told them I no longer wanted it and to refund my money. Was refunded that same day.

If you're looking to order an item, make sure you look elsewhere first to see if it's in-stock and available. It would have saved me a lot of time/hassle if I went to Harold's Lighting first. I was never told of any updates the entire time. The staff at the counter were generally pleasant, but it was the lack of communication and store operation that ruined it.

I started working with Andrew R to find fixtures that are as close as possible to my existing ones.  I sent Andrew an image of what I already have and while there was a small hiccup in getting me what I need, he was lightning fast in getting it taken care of and telling me where I can pick up what I need TODAY!
I much prefer working with individuals and find I get the best service when doing so.  This case proves my approach works.  Also, I conduct as much business as possible via email.  I can present what I am looking for, allow for time to research the item (if needed) and then pay and pick up the items.  I think if you try this approach you will increase your customer experience.  Thanks again Andrew, I will be down to pick up my items later today.

I am very disappointed with the service I received from the staff here. I went in one day to order a new lift bulb. They told me they need to order it and would call me within 48 hrs. I didn't receive a call back. So I called and they told me they had to reach out to another company and that they would call me back the next day. They didn't. I just called back today to inquire and the person I spoke to told me my phone number is not generating and order, that I need an order number (even though an order hasn't been placed yet) and that I should know the name of the person I spoke to. He was rude to me - I don't understand why.
He didn't ask more questions or try to find me in their records by my name. I just said thank you and he hung up.

We have had a bad experience with Seattle Lighting. We purchased an exterior lamp and post on the 6th of March. Three and a half weeks later, they have no idea where the post is. I have talked to no fewer than five people - and was told that I needed to talk with the person who sold the items to us. He left for Bend, OR (managers' conference). One of the two assistant managers was going to email the rep...I wanted specific answers now. The customer service center was a recording, so I just called the Seattle store, and they were going to call the manufacturer (nobody else offered to do that). If I could find the right post at the dreaded Home Depot or even worse Lowe's, I would ask for a refund for the post and go elsewhere.

Huge selection! They have a few dedicated easy free surface parking spots for customers.
Funny thing is, we went in for lights and bought a mirror - they have things besides lights in stock!

Came in to look for scones, lamps and a ceiling fixture. The person at the front desk couldn't be bothered other than to show us where the sconces were located. Another person offered to help us, but still no effort was made to find out what we were really looking for and if there was any way of further assisting us. A third person offered to have us look at catalogs. Truly no customer service at all. Wouldn't buy anything from them, wouldn't recommend and most certainly wouldn't go back.

Absolutely horrible customer service experience. We ordered a fan from them, and once they got the sale from us, nothing was done. I was guaranteed the fan would arrive within 5-7 days, and on business day 10, I called to check in. I got the response, We'll look into it. I never received a call back. This happened a second time with a different employee. The 3rd time I called to check in about our fan, 20 days after we had ordered it, the employee informed me the fan had never been ordered! He assured me it should arrive by Friday and they would call me when it arrived.
On Friday afternoon, after not receiving a phone call, I called the showroom to learn that my fan had been delivered to them. I explained how disappointed I was in their lack of communication and he told me the hours they were open and hung up on me.

Seattle Lighting should be ashamed how they treated me, and their lack of communication and follow up, in this whole experience. They clearly don't take pride in their work or show their customers any respect after they make a sale. I was dismissed by 3 out of 4 employees on the phone, the last of whom hung up on me. I will never shop here again and would recommend you bring your business elsewhere.

Love the customer service at this store. We got track lights and pendant adapters and one of the pendant adapters was not working but it was a very smooth process for getting it returned and fixed. We were also able to return the unused items for zero restocking fee.

Seattle Lighting is a rare gem in Seattle and deserves all the kudos - 10 stars. I do not write many reviews, but I am so grateful to Mark Williams and to Seattle Lighting I wanted to take the time to write a stellar review.

After finding nothing in chain stores and no one in the Big Box Stores who could help me, on my electrician's advice I went downtown to Seattle Lighting, parked in their free parking(!), walked inside and found people willing and able to take the time to listen to exactly what I needed. Thank goodness for Mark Williams, who happens to have a kitchen design background. He first listened carefully to what I needed, then looked at the photos on my phone of my kitchen and as soon as he saw the photos, he immediately walked me over to look at what turned out to be the perfect light fixture for my kitchen ceiling. I have to admit - there are a LOT of light fixtures in the store (a good thing) but I am not sure I would have seen that very one. Mark knew just what would work for the space to make it look great and work well for lighting. I love that light in my kitchen so much it makes me happy every time I turn it on!

Buoyed with confidence to tackle more projects, two weeks later I returned to Seattle Lighting, this time with a long list of lighting needs - a motion detector light for over the garage door, can lighting and a new porch light. Within an hour Mark had explained the different options and again *voila* I had solutions that were attractive, affordable and functional.

In short? Yes, I am a grateful customer. There is still a lighting store in Seattle with beautiful inventory and competent, friendly staff who truly know lighting. Go there, don't go to The Big Box.

Horrible experience.  I ordered a very very simple powder room fixture that the web site said I would have in 4-7 business days.  When I called to check why I hadn't received a shipping confirmation, they said the manufacturer was shipping it and that it was made to order. Ridiculous. Nothing of the sort was ever said when I ordered the fixture. Find somewhere else to get your lighting.

Didn't want another day to pass without letting yelpers know how awesome of an experience I had with Sean @ the downtown store.  After a couple of other lighting stores near my home were completely unhelpful in my quest for a chandelier part for my sloped ceiling, I called Seattle Lighting and Sean answered the call. Not only did he know what I needed, he said he'd gladly give one to me.   You heard that right.. give as in gratis!
I really pushed my luck because after checking, I realized I needed not one, but two.  So I went in the store the next day, let Sean know that I needed two, and he checked for a few minutes, and found me a second one.  When I asked what I owed, he still said I could just have them.
Can I tell you how much of an internal happy dance I was doing....come on now, who doesn't like free, especially when it's something you truly need?!?!

Thank you Seattle Lighting for having such an awesome colleague in Sean.  He totally made my Friday afternoon.

p.s. He also put in an order at my request for specific lightbulbs that I needed in my chandeliers to the Sodo warehouse.  By the time I got there, my order was ready for pick up.  Easy peasy....I did have to pay for those ;-)

Thanks again....Seattle Lighting & Sean totally rock!

I've visited this store numerous times having remodeled several homes in Seatle over the past decade. My wife's visit yesterday was largely a waste of time. Despite the fact that the service people were told that we are doing a new home construction they couldn't be bothered to provide any help.

I will amend this to say that a young man was very helpful a few weeks ago but yesterday''s visit was apalling. Their lighting and fixtures are adequate, really no better than other well stocked stores. It is their service that lacks. Unfortunate, they got such a fun location.

From reading many other reviews it sounds like incompetent sales people is their MO.

Do the staff judge the clientele when they come in the door, and decide if it is worth their while to talk to them?

Recommended by friends (in the building trade) and contractors.   But we experienced a bunch of well manicured salespeople sitting behind their desks, not even stepping out to check in with us, see if we could be helped, ask what our project is.   Went to Restoration Hardware afterwards, and their staff were fantastic.

I went there one Saturday afternoon (it being the only decent place within a reasonable distance from where we live that had a large selection of lights that is not Home Depot quality) to hopefully purchase some lights for a bathroom and living room remodel, and found two that I liked almost immediately.

Next thing that happened was an episode of excruciating waiting game which lasted for about half an hour. Granted, the shop was quite busy, but seeing employees exchanging light bulbs and putting up one additional display unit while displaying an utter lack of interest in customers, or another one picking up her lunch sandwich at the counter (from a delivery person) and digging into it while there's four or five people waiting to be served (and presumably wanting to spend money there) was just wrong and rude. Where's their customer obsession?

So they had one of the lights I wanted in stock and I paid, and they put me on a list for the other two (pricey ones I have to add!) and said they'd call me back on Monday to confirm a date when I could pick them up.

I then had to go to their outlet space in Sodo to pick up the lights they did have. First time they gave me the wrong ones. Fortunately I noticed that before I left.

I never did hear back from them regarding the other lights. Guess they didn't want my almost 600 bucks for those.

I have to say that the person I did end up talking to regarding my order was nice and courteous, but apparently something went wrong somewhere for them to drop my other order. Their loss.

This is the best lighting place in Kitsap County. The staff is professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. They are able to make custom orders for you if you don't have what you need in stock. The selection is well organized and varied, so if you're looking for something modern or classical you can find it there. Definitely will be returning to change my hallway lights! A++!

I had anticipated giving them a five-star rating initially, as we had a wonderful shopping experience with them. Helpful, knowledgeable staff, good prices, same-day availability, everything looks great after it was installed. Unfortunately, the five-star rating only applies so long as everything goes perfectly. If you have any hiccups (say, a broken piece that needs to be replaced), they completely fall apart. The knowledgeable staff suddenly doesn't know anything about anything, everything is a mystery, and their only suggestion is to sit around and wait for the problem to magically resolve itself. Really disappointed, and as I get on Yelp, I see that a number of other people have had this same experience. Even more disappointing. I highly recommend their products, but I can't recommend their customer service.

We are remodeling our home and needed help from a lighting designer to pick the right fixtures for the entire home. Seattle Lighting offers consultative services. However, after I left my number with them several times (including voice mail for Stephanie who is supposed to be in charge of this) they never returned my call. I am taking my business elsewhere.

I am always stunned how little retailers care about customer service. I am picking an independent consultant and will order everything from Amazon.

The selection is great and the sales staff is super helpful happy to make a sale.

But this is where the trouble started. I ordered three if the same item. One was in their Tacoma warehouse and they could have it shipped in a week. The other two were on back order for three weeks.

Ok, sure. We don't need these items for 15 weeks, let's do it!

Well, five weeks go by and I call them up. What's the status?  Surely they forgot to call me or something.

No, the item we need now is out of stock and back ordered until mid summer!  And there is now a waiting list that we would be at the back of.

What?  What about the three week back order date?  Why wouldn't we be at the front of the line? Why didn't you guys call to tell me?

Their answers were (I am not kidding):

*We never legally agreed to anything with you as a customer to deliver what you bought
*Weather patterns and acts of god can change delivery dates (by almost an order of magnitude? Really?)
*You can call the CEO and he will tell you I am right and you as a customer are wrong
*We don't call a customer until their order is complete

So, they would have waited two years to call if that's how long the terrible freak snowstorms in coastal China kept up (sarcasm) even though this order was prepaid.

What a poor customer experience. I thought I was buying from a reputable local company but I was dead wrong. If they don't have what you want in stock, avoid, but I would avoid anyway and I definitely recommend everyone stay away from Seattle Lighting.

This morning we went to Seattle Lighting store looking for reading lights, ask for help at the counter, the kid told me check on our website, he was standing in front of the computer, can you show me in the store, he told me I can check on my phone. I spent 20 minutes at the parts counter while one of the attendants looked for a LED bulb. Then I was given the wrong bulb and had to return the next day to exchange. The new person found the correct bulb in under 5 minutes. You need to put people who know what they are doing behind the counter.
I then purchased a dining room chandelier from a model displayed in the showroom, and 3 weeks later when it came in it was the wrong one. Turns out the floor model had been tagged incorrectly. Ordered the correct one and 2 weeks later was told the factory no longer made that particular model. They offered the floor model for $25 less. By then I had moved and they said they could ship it for a charge. After I reminded them of their mistake they said okay, we'll ship it for free. Needless to say I told them to keep the chandelier, it wasn't worth the trouble, especially if something went wrong with the shipment.

A very inefficient and poorly run operation. They don't have a clue how to make something right with a customer.

I would go to Lowe's and find less expensive products. And better customer service.

Went to Seattle Lighting (as opposed to a box store) to get good professional advice.  Was quoted a price for power strips and placed the non-refundable order.  After I picked it up from the store, my contractor pointed out that the strips were missing key parts.  The cost of the additional parts required to make them functional EXCEEDED the initial purchase.  Would never have bought them if full price had been disclosed.  Feel Very poorly served.

Horrible service and mediocre products.  Had an issue with two lights I bought from them.  One stopped working after a few month and the other light even caused to trip a circuit. Had to call an electrician to find the issue, which cost me $210.  Every time I talked to Seattle Lightning they promised to call me back, but they never did. Will be shopping for lights somewhere else net time.

I came into Seattle Lighting looking for a way to make my dingy office look brighter and cuter? Beth was wonderful to work with. All the staff were helpful, knowledgeable and not pushy at all. I ended up getting some adorable lighting options (including some really pretty lampshades) for a reasonable price. My office is actually a warm cozy space I want to be in! I would definitely recommend working with Seattle Lighting and Beth. They are the best!

After visiting this store during a peak traffic moment, nearly concluding that customer service wasn't the best (instead of allowing that the service team might be overwhelmed), I came back at a quieter time. The help I ended up receiving was top-notch. I was working on a remodel and needed some signature lighting for the dining room, living room, and bedrooms. I'm absolutely no pro at this, my house in Seattle being the first I've ever owned, and Mark Williams calmly walked me through the store, asking lots of thoughtful questions that helped me think about what I really wanted. He also respected my budget, steering clear of high-priced products when alternatives would work just fine. The result is beautiful lighting in every room Mark advised me on, and my wishing that he'd made selections for the whole house. I recently came back when I decided to redo the outdoor lighting, and of course he steered me away from one package that didn't quite work, and onto something that looks fantastic. I'm grateful to Mark and the professionalism throughout Seattle Lighting. Many thanks to all of you!

Great showroom and service. Horrible service after that. Have to go to the clearance center to pick it up and your lucky to get one dirt slow worker to help you. Utterly ridiculous and when I informed the showroom they are aware of it but they said higher ups won't do anything about it. good luck picking up what you order in less than an hour.

Reviews around customer service were not the best but figured I'd give it a shot. Went in today on a Saturday thinking it would be packed, but it wasn't. There was a guy behind the counter who didn't even bother to acknowledge me when I came in and he didn't look busy. So I started looking. Found a few things that might work. Wandered the entire store and not a single person said hi or asked if they could help. Saw more people behind another counter. They were super busy chatting with each other.  So I guess in this case I should have listened to the reviews. I went to Harold's in Wallingford instead. They are not the friendliest people but they always help and I found a great fixture.

I will say I think they have a good selection of lighting at reasonable prices.  Like many other reviewers, I found that the service leaves something to be desired.  No one acknowledged my presence or asked if I needed assistance.  When I selected something to buy, I stood at the upper service counter for quite awhile while the salesperson attended to another customer.  What bothered me was that at least 2 sales people at the lower counter could see me but never bothered to offer to ring me up.  When I finally went down to the lower counter and asked if they could ring me up, a salesperson said, Sure.  I was amused because at the end of the transaction there was no thanks expressed in any form (spent $218).

Didn't feel valued at all as a customer, so I will spend my money elsewhere next time.

Like other reviewers here, I felt like their selection is 5 star and their customer service is 1 star.  It's not that the people are unfriendly - the few I dealt with were helpful - it's just that their process is designed terribly. It's like they're trying to make the most frustrating customer experience possible.

It takes forever to get in and out of here on the weekends. They're always swamped. But swamped is only like 8 customers! The problem is that they only have 3 or 4 sales agents, and you have to get your name on a list to see them, and there's only one queue - so someone who needs to be hand-held through a 15 minute discussion of what lighting fixtures they should get holds up the line for someone who just wants to buy a lightbulb or pick up an order that was shipped there.

So it takes 30 minutes just to pick up an order you already paid for. This is really bad service when you have a lot of errands you need to run or other stores to visit.
They don't have a cashier - only sales agents - so the only way to buy something from them is to get your name on the waiting list. Also, they only have one computer that they can bill your order on, so when they're busy, another line forms just to use their cashier station. The computer they use for this is apparently old and slow and they often struggle simply to ring up your order.

It would be so simple for them to improve their customer service - just hire a cashier on the weekends, who can help with quick tasks like selling lightbulbs or basic lighting fixtures when the customer already knows what they want and doesn't have any questions. Also, they could invest in a new computer. I don't know any other business that takes 5 minutes to ring up an order on a credit card.

I've ordered a number of things through Seattle Lighting's Pioneer Square store and the experience has always been pleasant.  They have a wide range of traditional and contemporary lighting fixtures -- sconces, ceiling lights, fans, track lighting, table lamps, floor lamps -- all on display at relatively affordable prices.  Now, lighting is generally more expensive than what makes sense to me, but Seattle Lighting has a lot of the trendier looks at reasonable prices compared to fancier places.

And, if they don't have what you want, they can order from basically any major supplier and have it shipped through them.  It's way better than ordering online through random web sites -- which has never worked for me in the past.  At least this way if something goes wrong (and nothing has), you know who to talk to.

Absolutely terrible customer service. I am dealing with the downtown location and they didnt have a light fixture in stock. No biggie, they were going to send it from their Bellevue location via UPS. Should be at my home in a few days. A week later and nothing so I call. Turns out the warehouse never shipped it. Again, this happens. But no apology, no sorry for the inconvenience. Any event, then they send it via regular UPS (not even express like you would expect as a sign of customer service). The guy I am dealing with was trying to make it sound like UPS never picked it up or something but later admitted it was because their warehouse never placed it with UPS. Again, not super terrible. I was promised a series of I will call you right back which never happened so I had to keep following up. The general attitude of the guy helping me is yeah... that sucks. Not of oh my goodness I am so sorry, let me fix this for you.

I keep wanting to like Seattle Lighting.  We go there to look for lighting, whether for our home or our business, and every time we leave empty handed because the staff are so terse, unhelpful, and snooty.  Just today we were looking for some track lighting accessories for a brand that they carry.  There were no other customers in the store, and when asked in a friendly manner whether he had a minute, the employee's response was Yeah, I have a MINUTE in a glum tone of voice.  And in the end, they didn't have what we were looking for, nor could they apparently order it.

I think they concentrate on, and are incredibly helpful towards, contractors and large volume purchasers.  But not for me.  I tell myself I'll never go back.  But I keep WANTING to like them.  Why won't they let me?

This review is for lights that we purchased and service that we received. We've been doing business with Seattle Lighting for more than a decade. Most recently, we bought a houseful of lights for our new house.

They had the goods! And they had people who knew what they were talking about.

Enormous bonus: More than a year later, one of our ceiling fan / lights gave up the ghost. Seattle Lighting's Bethany Kikuta wrangled the fan company - Kichler, they make a great product, but are a little shy on customer service - on our behalf, got us a set of replacement controllers at no charge and we were on our way.

Great job! We recognize that Seattle Lighting's primary business is selling to contractors, businesses and volume customers - and they definitely have the best selection from moderately pricey to very high end, yet they have consistently been able to prioritize our retail needs and deliver great products with good service, on our budget.

Been ordering with these folks for over 3 years...like always, roll the dice and they might get it right the first time, or it might (usually will) take a lot more work and patience on your part.  I never promise a customer what this store promises me, speaking of delivery.  I like the selection, and one or two of the folks there (Seattle store) are quite clever at helping with solutions to lighting projects you might have, however, the follow-through is pretty lousy (We'll call you when it's in--Never, not once, I call to ask), and the coordination just plain sucks (for my experiences, the warehouse folks have usually been able to correct ordering errors the sales folks made).

When you're buying pricey items, you want assurances of quality.  You want information.  You want undivided attention.

When a competitor with selection and service appears, I will leave you, Seattle lighting.

I wish I could give SEATTLE Light 100 stars but 5 was the only option.  We are on our 3rd remodel and the staff is always helpful and knowledge and sooooo patient with all our questions - whether on the phone or in person. They have a great selection in various price ranges.  Sean, in particular, has been more knowledgable than many of our designers and electricians!! Much of what they stock is way better than the box stores and priced less and you actually get AWESOME customer service!!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE AND totally TRUST SEATTLE Light!!

We visited the Seattle store, looking for new lighting ideas for our kitchen table area. We had never been to Seattle lighting but decided to go in to get some ideas on what kind of lighting we would like to upgrade out kitchen dining area with. Our experience with the store staff was exceptional, in particular Bethany was very attentive to our questions and worked closely with us on making a lighting decision. We will continue to keep Seattle Lighting in mind for all our lighting needs, with their large selection and great customer service.

My daughter (21) and I went here today to get a ceiling light fixture for her bedroom.  Even though it was a Saturday afternoon with lots of people in the store, someone greeted us right away and asked how she could help.  She asked us a few questions and then walked us to 2 different parts of the store to show us various options, explaining as she went and asking us questions.  They have a HUGE selection and it's all displayed really well.  After we chose something we liked, which happened to be one of the least expensive choices, she asked us if we needed bulbs and walked us through our various bulb options, explaining how we could get a warmer-looking light that was still ecologically better than traditional light bulbs.

She told us we'd have to pick our order up at their warehouse, 2 miles south, but gave us a printed-out map that explained super-clearly where it was and also would allow you to avoid the trains in the area (an important tip).  It took only a few minutes to get to the warehouse, and the lamp and bulbs were already packed up for us when we arrived, so the whole process added maybe 10 minutes and was easy.

A great experience in every way.  I remember going there once before, a few years ago, and having a similarly-good experience.  They KNOW lighting!!

My husband and I are remodeling our home and had never shopped for lighting fixtures for bathrooms, hallway, or dining room.  Beth was so helpful - within 10 minutes we'd been schooled in the basics, she provided great recommendations and considerations, printed out our list of considerations, and we even made one purchase on the spot.

They had an incredible selection for indoor and outdoor and was surprised that they had a larger range of price points than I'd expected, many comparable to Home Depot or Lowe's, but much nicer.  Will definitely return and recommend to friends and family!

Completely incompetent would be a soft way of describing the people who work here. Unable to answer even the most basic questions with confidence.  Every item we wanted was back ordered (until May?) Are you effing kidding me?

This is why we have Amazon.  Places like Seattle Lighting are short for this earth.

And that's a good thing.

When you're replacing CFLs, walk into any drugstore, waste time browsing the bulb aisle for 20 mins and done. When you're replacing bulbs that are a little more non-standard and you don't want to waste a hour browsing the web, come here.

If I'd known it would be so easy I wouldn't have had to live in semi-darkness for months due to laziness. We walked in here 30 mins before closing on a Sunday with 2 different types of burnt-out bulbs, showed them to the sales guy, and had new bulbs in minutes. We also showed him a photo of the inefficient halogen bulbs we wanted to replace and received knowledgeable advice (to the effect of: you're stuck with halogen but can replace with a lower wattage one, which they had in stock, or easily swap the light switch with a dimmer). (They also had an intriguing selection of dimmers and also one with an occupancy sensor.)

I am blown away that someone at SL doesn't look at these reviews and make efforts to improve their customer service.  Every time I go in, I vow that I will not return because their service is the worst.  There is no service.  No one ever acknowledges you -- not when you walk in; not if they pass you in the store.  If you ask for help, there is a definite sense, literally with everyone that works there, that you are putting them out.  The reviews pointing this out, go back a few years.  They, clearly, do not give a blank..  I was there today, and it was just as bad, if not worse.  I truly vowed, today, that I will never step foot in there again.

My review of SL is only for their service and parts.  Their fixtures are pretty awesome-looking, but are mostly out of my price range.

I dropped into SL during my lunch break.  The purpose of this trip was NOT to browse, but only to find a strange light bulb that needed to replace a burned-out one in my condo.

The guy at the service desk was extremely helpful and patient.  He also offered to store the part number under my profile in their database.  When another bulb goes out, I can simply drop my name.  Nice.

We've been frequent customers of Seattle Lighting over the years but never again. We went in this afternoon and it was deserted.  There were a number of staff working on renovations and one guy behind the counter playing on his cell phone. No one approached us and no one could be bothered to help us, so we walked.

Terrible service. We walked in ready to spend a few thousand on a chandelier and were ignored for 30 minutes. Not only were we ignored, we saw at least 5 customers who arrived after us get service. We were not acknowledged and asked to wait, either. We are taking our business elsewhere.

I walked into Seattle Lighting prepared to purchase a new lighting fixture for a master bathroom. I spoke with Andy Newsome, Assistant Manager and instead of selling me a brand new product, he gave me the part I needed to repair the existing light fixture for free. I have always found Seattle Lighting to be all about the customer and not the sale.

I brought a specific led bulb in last week to find specific track lighting  for my new home. Beth helped me out with several different options. With her and the help of two other employees I found what I needed and exactly how I'm going to install it. I was reading the previous reviews about customer service and thought that I would add that my experience was great.

If this isn't the most complacent, smug business in Seattle I don't know what is. Someone in upper management must have given the stern directive that customer service is a LOW priority. If you want to see a good selection then do so and then take notes and buy the stuff on the Internet. And if you are patient enough to wait for these snobs to help you...and you do decide to pay their exorbitant prices,,,be prepared to WAIT...because non-rush orders take over a month and they do NOT like it when you call to ask about order status.

I was down in Seattle shopping for my bathroom renovation in Vancouver, BC.  They didn't have the specific LED light fixture I was looking for, but they special ordered it for me at a very reasonable price and held it for me until I could get back down to pick it up again.  Smooth, easy, and pleasant.  And, they have dedicated parking.

We needed sconces that can turn on and off individually, and we bought the only pair they carried. Good thing I liked them cause that was the big choice. Parking was bad, even on a Saturday morning, and we were blocked into the parking lot and had to go back in and ask for the car to be moved. Then we had to wait for endless trains to cross to get TO and FROM the warehouse where we had to pick up the fixture. I can't imagine what a headache it would have been on a week day. But all in all, the staff was quick and helpful, and I think we'll be happy with our purchase.

It looked promising from the street. Upon entering, you are overwhelmed by the huge selection. Many LED and CFL fixtures. Several more traditional and retro fixtures are present as well. There were house numbers, locks and door knobs. We walked around the store for about 30 minutes. Lots of high end lighting and sale items. What there wasn't was help. Three other people were shopping in the store. Four or so employees were present and never asked if we needed help. Maybe I'll wear flashy clothes and a big watch next time. I'll chalk it up to a bad day and I'll go back. As they had a big selection.

This old brick and mortar store has gone bad! I visited the 2nd Avenue store recently with the intent to purchase parts to build a new pendant lamp. I spoke with one of the guys upon entering, explained the situation and his response was SILENCE and began fumbling through a catalog...silently. I told him I would look around and check back with him. Then I went around to the parts/service desk where the other worker was on a personal phone call. I looked around and went back to the first guy who was now eating and on the phone. Didn't even look up. What a waste of time. I found helpful service and parts to be readily available at a nearby business! Good luck Seattle Lighting! Many years ago, you were a fine place to shop!

I've been there many times and bought several times.

BE CAREFUL - Seattle Lighting carries many items that accept only crazy, difficult-to-find, and expensive light bulbs.

Best example of what to watch out for:  We bought two bathroom light fixtures, which take a total of six mini don't-touch-the glass-or-the-oil-from-your-fingers-will-crack-them light bulbs, which cost TEN dollars each and apparently last about one year.  (We figured all of this out after we bought the fixtures...)

This means, math students, that it costs us about sixty dollars a year in light bulbs alone just to light our bathroom, not counting electricity.  Nor does this count the gas to drive to Seattle Lighting, because nowhere else in the city carried these light bulbs.

The worst part of all is that Seattle Lighting doesn't carry these light bulbs anymore!  Now we are down to three working bulbs, and I can't find replacements online.

Not only do they have an amazing assortment of lighting, they can tell you how to install it, how to light art or walkways or they can get things for you if you don't see it. The public can buy here, and the electrical company I work for uses their products a LOT. The staff is the best, they really know their fixtures. If you want to light your home in out of the ordinary ways, this is the place to go.

The woman I just spoke to on the phone made it sound like I had done her a terrible inconvenience for calling and asking about replacing an appliance bulb.

I had bulbs in both my fridge and my range go out within the same week. I found the replacements online, but was about to run an errand in the International District, and thought I'd try and support a local business. I called in advance to ask whether they had a suitable replacement. A woman picked up on the first ring, and I explained that I needed a couple unusual bulbs. I read her the first model (brand, volts, watts, part number), and she impatiently said, That means nothing to me. And we don't carry GE bulbs. You have to look it up online and figure out what it IS. I told her I was looking at it online right now. She sounded extremely irritated with my lack of lightbulb knowledge: I would need to know what TYPE it is. Like, is it C7, S6, R12...? I didn't see any additional labels on the bulb, the label on the range, or on the Amazon page, and she sounded so exasperated that I said, Okay, I'll just buy it online. At that point she said, Okay and hung up before I could even ask her about the second bulb.

There is a reason these folks don't rate well.  Its service.  Trying to get one of their products in exchange for my money is where things bog down.  I went to the store.  Took photos of the things I liked.  Sent them to my wife.  We agreed on two fixtures.  All that was accomplished in about 45 minutes.  Things bogged down when I tried to make a purchase.  E-mailed the photo of the fixture to the address given on their website.  Called.  I was told to wait until someone responds to my e-mail.  After a couple of hours someone called.  In the meanwhile no one responds to the phone.  Struggle struggle struggle.  I realize the Costco model does not work for everything, but come on.  Help me give you my money.

Brought a higher end lamp in to find a pair of shades today. Three associates at the counter at the time. I asked where the shades were and the gal pointed me in their direction, not even bothering to get out of her chair. I spent about 10 minutes searching with no luck. The lamp shades are about 12 feet from the sales counter. Not one of the associates offered any assistance. I walked out passing all three at the desk (no customers present). Not one of them said one word to me as I passed and exited the store. This is LOUSY customer service and I won't be back. I will take all of my future business to Hansens in Lake City. I should have just gone to Hansens in the first place. Last time the owner spent at least 30 minutes assisting me with shades. Lesson learned!

This place is the worst customer experience ever!  I've been in at least 4 times due to a remodel on our house.  I've never been treated with more disdain when trying to buy something.  What is their problem?  They clearly hired people who hate dealing with others.  The only nice man in there was the manager who was working the phones.  Everyone else views customers as a total nuisance.  Awful awful attitudes.

We've shopped Seattle Lighting many times over the years as we've renovated several rooms in our home, and every time we've had a great experience. In addition to the really large selection in their showroom, we've found their staff to be knowledgeable and really helpful in helping us make the right decision on what to get. These people really know their stuff, so if your renovation project involves more than just buying a lamp off the floor, these are the go-to guys (and gals). Two thumbs up all around.
