ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER
Fixer is not Mike's first foray into entrepreneurship: after he graduated from MIT with degrees in electrical engineering and computer science, a quest to order pizza online led him to cofound the food delivery service GrubHub, which he led from 2002 to 2014. As GrubHub grew--and with it, the gig economy it helped create--Mike realized that even when pursued full time, gig-based jobs are kind of a dead-end for those seeking long-term career growth. The gig economy is a bit of my Frankenstein's monster and Fixer is an answer to that--it's a very intentional, W-2 employee, career-oriented model. Mike details his professional evolution in a memoir, Hangry, to be published in 2023.

I hired Fixer for several tasks in my condo - hanging some outdoor shades, paint touch-ups, installing moulding, and repairing a kitchen cabinet. Fixer seems like it would be a great service if they were better about screening people out. We contacted Fixer for some help with an exterior door and they booked it without telling us that their contractors are not permitted to do structural work like reframing.
The Fixers who came out were very apologetic. It sounds like this happens all the time, and the Fixers regularly get sent on jobs they can't do.
Final Update: Fixer was finally able to come out to my house but unfortunately, they weren't able to fix any of my electrical problems. The good news is that they didn't charge me for the visit, but I had to get an electrician in to fix the issues (turns out it was a bad switch causing one of the issues and a loose wire in the back of another switch causing a separate issue.
The person who came to look at the issues was nice and very courteous, so that's a plus. He also told me that the issues during the storm has caused the company to re-think their automated system for booking and communicating with customers. I'm sure when this works it's great, but when it doesn't it's a huge PITA for you as a customer so I hope they get this resolved soon.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend Fixer for electrical or complicated issues but would give them another chance for more simple or straightforward issues.
For that I'm increasing my review from two to three stars.
Update: Fixer returns my call and will be sending a manager out to see if he can fix my issues. The person I talked to on the phone was apologetic and much more transparent about the real reasons for canceling, which turned out were not related to weather at all.
I'll update one more time based on how well this is resolved.
I like that Fixer offers a convenient way to get some labor work that needed done, be they small or big and/or easy or specialized. I also liked that the way you interacted with them is very tech focused that you don't have to deal too much with talking to people/each vendor, explaining what you need, etc/ Fixer at least appears to offer a variety of home services and is a good alternative for a small landlord like me who may not have the ability to go do the job myself and doesn't necessarily have all the strong networks of vendors who can do specific jobs.
I had a pretty decent experience using Fixer. I was able to schedule, add some jobs that needed done all online without the hassle of talking to different vendors (whom...you would know if you have to deal with them...often never really get back to your messages/calls). With Fixer, I also liked that they give some estimates, both in terms of time and money for the jobs involved.
I was able to schedule/bunch small jobs into one at a rental home I had and it worked out quite well (often enough...vendors don't like going to do small jobs..but this one..I can bunch whatever as needed...because they cover different sorts of jobs and make it easy for people like me to get what I needed done).
The only drawback would be...the scheduling and timeliness of getting the job done seems to be a little of a problem. My schedule was moved out multiple times during the day and ended up getting served the day after it was originally scheduled instead. Luckily, there was someone at home whose schedule was a bit more flexible to accommodate changes/delays in arrival time. Else, honestly, I may be a bit pissed if I had to take off of work and noone showed up. That said, Fixer tried to make the experiences right for the customer. They at least provided some updates and had some sort of ways to try to rectify the situations...so for that, thank you for doing the right thing.
The other thing may just be..I can't seem to get in touch with anyone to talk to. You ended up communicating with them via messaging (either via web/sms instead...but at least..they were quick to respond...so it wasn't a problem). Some time though I sort of wonder...did they get my message? or would they even reply? So far though...they did reply to all my asks...so it's good enough for me!

Trying to schedule an appointment with Fixer has been a nightmare and they still haven't shown up to the house!
We had a confirmed appointment on Aug 3, after which I got a text saying that they're all booked on Aug 3 and our appointment got rescheduled to Aug 4 2:30-3:30pm. On Aug 4, I got a text saying that the Fixer is delayed to 4:30pm and I couldn't accept that because I had an appointment elsewhere at 5pm. So they rescheduled my appointment to Aug 8 between 12:00-1:00pm. On Aug 8, I got a text saying that the Fixer can't show up due to unforeseen circumstances and my appointment was rescheduled to Aug 9 3:30-4:30pm. It is now 7pm on Aug 9 and the Fixer did not show up for the appointment. I have not received any calls or texts to explain this.
This company needs a fixer to look into their scheduling. It is atrocious.
I made arrangements for them to provide services today and they gave me a time frame from 9 AM to 4 PM. They wasted my entire day by saying that they would come, but they never did. Now, at 4:50 they messaged me telling me they can't come. They even tried to get me to buy a subscription to ongoing service. DO NOT DO IT. It's a scam!!!!
I am appalled at this horrific company. Be aware this business is a scam and I would seriously advise against anyone using it.

Only started using them so I'll update this review as I learn more, but so far, the experience has been outstanding. Clear communication, crisp expectation setting, quality work, fair prices, and I love the business model.
I also look forward to using them for something other than plumbing, electrician work, etc.
I wish them great success here in the greater Seattle area.

Hired fixer, at a high hourly rate, to fix a plumbing problem at my airbnb in Seattle. Fixer was an hour late outside the scheduled window. After being told issue fixed, renter reports same problem 24 hours later. They promptly sent out another tech, who reported problem fixed. Within 10 days, another renter reported the same issue - for the third time.
They told me they would have to charge me for a repeat visit. They suggested charging me 2/3 of the bill because they had diagnosed and 'fixed' 2 of 3 toilet issues. No help to me, as now I have hire a plumber and am 2 weeks and 3 service calls into a problem that should have been fixed the first time around.
Only reason it's not 1 star is because customer service is responsive and attempts to be helpful. But, their inability to resolve a plumbing issue after multiple calls is a waste of my time.

The Fixer completed the installation of a smart lock and doorbell, but they did a poor job of repairing drywall and left random wires sticking out of the wall (see pictures below) without finishing the job. The amount that it will cost to fix the drywall and repair the new issues that have emerged will likely be higher than the original cost of hiring the fixer in the first place. I contacted customer service hoping for a resolution, but none was offered.
We had an issue with our toilet securing to the floor. Fixer was able to come in and get the work done quick, efficient and at a good price! The handy person was polite and respectful. Everything was handled well and I just made another appointment for another fix!
**Buyer beware!!** We had fixer come out to install an outlet above the fireplace for our tv. The first person they sent was not qualified for the job, he made multiple holes in our drywall and instead of drilling through the studs to route the wire, he drilled through the other side of the drywall into another room. Then they sent a second person to patch up all of the random holes and the second person charged us incorrectly for the hours they worked. Now they are trying to charge us $400 for all of the errors that they made and we still don't have the outlet at the end of the day.
I can see them maybe being worthwhile to call for small jobs around the house as long as you are tracking their time worked closely, but I would absolutely not trust them with any electrical work.

FIxer did a great job repairing a light fixture in my kitchen that had broken. Conner and Isaiah were friendly, efficient, and I was charged a fair price for the job. I'm very pleased with the service I received from Fixer.
When we had an appliance delivery that wouldn't fit in our front door, the door was removed including the hinges, and didn't go back on straight. Finally got tired of mentioning it to my husband and searched for a handyman on Yelp. Got matched with Fixer, scheduling was a breeze. I was able to text photos ahead of time. Our Fixer was out to my house on time, and straightened out the door quickly. He also installed our smart lock for us. I think the price was very fair, and he did a great job! Didn't drag it out for more money which is always a risk. Will definitely use Fixer again!

I hired these folks for installing my window ac unit this summer, their solution was elegant and will use them again when the need arises.
We wanted to replace a recessed light with a pendant. We try everything DIY, but this was too technical a job for us. After calling an electrician, who couldn't see us until March and charge us $500 at minimum, I tried Fixer, who is much cheaper and could see us today!
Jacob, our handyman, and as on time, friendly, and figured out what we needed to do. After running to Lowes to get a box to replace the recessed can, he installed everything no problem.
He also told us that Fixer's market are small jobs just like this, as if call an electrician out here, they're booked up and only want to do big jobs.
I would use this service again.
Fantastic experience. I bought a house and immediately needed to empty the laundry room so I could have the floors refinished. I had no idea how I was going to get the stacked washer/dryer out. I spoke with the scheduler at Fixer and he advised it would require a two person crew and a ballpark figure. He asked if there was anything else they could take care of while they were on site. Which of course I have a long list of items that need to be addressed. The crew arrived on time, very personable and friendly team. They took care of everything timely, cleaned up, gave me a few pointers and the price came in under the quote. Will definitely be calling them again.
I got a few quotes and these folks seemed reasonable and had a quick appointment for a sink installation. The fixer showed up timely, looked it over, said it would take about two hours and got to work.
It ended up being over 6 hours, three and a half of which he wasn't even in my home and he called someone else to help him on top of it. My counters are destroyed which they tell me is because of the previous sink installation which was original to the house. The fixer made some weird comments about my house that made me a little uncomfortable.
He disappeared for two hours to get more tools, came back and then immediately had to leave to go to the store for something.
I wouldn't call them again for anything beyond just a small handyman job and even then, I'm not sure. The time being gone and charging me for it is sketchy, especially when it's multiple hours gone to pick up a couple of things that was a long sit of things in the end. Seems like you'd make an inventory of what you would need and make one run instead of wasting time/money.
I'm pretty sure the bill wasn't correct in labor but I paid it anyway and moved on because I didn't sit there and keep a timer on the job. Live and learn. The job got done for nearly twice what I expected in both time and money.
I found Fixer thru Yelp. They were extremely responsive and I was able to schedule my appointment right away. I received Yelp quotes from other companies and some were outrageously high. Fixer was responsible and had good reviews, so that's why I selected them.
I liked how they had various options for scheduling. If you're flexible, there's that option, or you can select a time. I selected my time and then had a schedule conflict. I was able to easily text their concierge and able to push out my appointment to later in the day.
I received a text message with the ETA of my fixer, Nick. He was on-time to the nickel. He was professional and able to complete what I needed. He was able to fix something more efficiently than I thought (I'm not handy whatsoever) and I truly appreciated that.
Payment is simple - you get a text and you pay online. You can include a tip when you pay.

Excellent, friendly, and quick service. Josh was a gem. After contacting them I was set for an appointment in the near future.
We needed an old dishwasher removed and a new one installed. It turned into an all day project with the first installer saying he couldn't do it. The previous owners had built up the kitchen floor with plywood under the linoleum apparently after the dishwasher was installed so the old dishwasher couldn't come out. Kei from Fixer ended up having to cut a section of the flooring out (luckily we are going to replace it soon anyway). I was thrilled that Fixer was able to get someone to my house the same afternoon to take care of it. Kei was helpful and persistent and did a great job with a tricky situation. Would definitely use them again and recommend to others!
If you need a quick fix; they are quick to come out. Generally can get a repair person out within 1 day maybe same day. It's very very expensive! I paid $1000 for dray wall repair from a door knob and 9 outlet replacements. They charge you $150/hour and you have no control how efficient they are
I needed a 5 drawer dresser assembled and called on Fixer to help. If I had done this myself, it would have taken me two days, a lot of frustration and a lot of swearing and I still would not have gotten it right. The Fixer showed up, looked at all the parts on the floor and didn't even blink and went right to work. It was as if he was putting a children's puzzle together and completed the job in a hour and a half. Now I have a nice dresser for my clothes.
Great experience! My undermounted sink came unglued and I wasn't sure who to call. Just described the problem over email and was able to schedule for the very next day. My fixer was just lovely and did a beautiful job!

Fixer has been great. Fixer is now a permanent entry in my Contact. I've used them twice to fix an electrical outlet and then back to install a new dishwasher, which another company failed upon 3 visits. I am extremely impressed with their communication and doing everything possible to deliver on their commitment.
This outfit is automated to the max Maybe that's why it assigned me a four hour window at the end of the week and their man never showed.
Sherrie worked on my home by replacing one chandelier, two pendants, two light switches (to dimmer), and hanging a 26 lbs mirror on the wall. She was professional, careful with the work (read the instructions in advance, etc), and asked for my feedback along the way on the work to ensure it looks good to me (light setting, etc). She also texted me in advance so I knew she was coming (and she was on time).
The whole thing took four hours, which seems reasonable to me. Sherrie worked efficiently as I was there the whole time. Thanks again!

They were good and reliable but were unable to fix our two largest problems and could only fix smaller ones. None of this was caught in the pre-work phone screen
We needed some large mirrors installed on one wall to create a workout studio, and this company was the fastest, friendliest, and most reasonably priced option we came across. They showed up reliably, were clean, hardworking, respectful of property, and persistent in solving some unexpected issues that arose due to some unforeseen irregularities in our wall and shortage of necessary supplies due to the urgent pandemic's effect on supply chains of all kinds. This company even brought workers in from other cities across the country when their current staff couldn't keep up with demand for new jobs. In the end, our mirrors are up, it all looks great, and they cleaned up everything nicely on the way out. I was really impressed, and would hire them again any day!
Amazing company! Joshua M. was able to come and repair the duct behind our dryer on very short notice, and the cost was lower than the original estimate we were quoted.
At first I was a little wary of the probably-necessary shopping trip, and considered trying to go to Lowe's myself first, but I'm glad I didn't: once Joshua came and moved the dryer out of our laundry nook, he saw that the problem wasn't what the inspection reported indicated, so I would have bought the wrong materials.
All in all, a super easy experience, and I'm definitely using Fixer again in the future.
The electrical technician added a plug and completed installation of a new dishwasher and changed a plug to GFI. All this was done quickly and for a good price.
I needed to move my washer / dryer unit back into the closet but wasn't strong enough to do it on my own. I was able to schedule a job fairly quickly, with next-day availability. Two Fixers came and were able to complete the job, as well as fix other small tasks around the house. They gave me tips on how to solve these problems in the future as well! Would recommend!

I stumbled across Fixer when searching for a handyman service on Yelp and decided to give them a try to manage a few projects in my bedroom that required immediate attention. I'm now sold on Fixer handyman services. From the online scheduling process, recurring communications following and leading up to my appointment, and the professionalism and quality of work of my handyman, Zach, I was thoroughly impressed and pleased with my experience. I will not hesitate to use Fixer for any further home maintenance/repair needs!!
I've used Fixer a number of times to a variety of different repairs around my home. It's been great, because I can have someone come over to take care a variety of tasks around the home, everything from fixing an outlet to regrouting my bath tiles.
They'll do the shopping for you if there's any needed supplies, and they'll clean up after themselves after they're done.
I had a few fairly basic miscellany tasks to do, so I sent out for quotes on Yelp. Fixer was among the first to reply and had someone who could be out for a consulting visit in 90 minutes. It turned out that the technician (Torch) was able to do everything with the supplies he had on hand. He was friendly, helpful, efficient, and eagerly provided tips/advice for later. The price was reasonable, and he was in and out in an hour. A very good experience -- would recommend!
Fixer staff were very friendly and great to work with. They were able to come out on short notice and finish up a job my contractor had left undone. It took a little longer than expected but they were willing to review the case right away and issue a refund for the extra time. Most companies would not be this honest and accommodating and I really value that. I was very happy with the overall work and quick scheduling time!

I moved into a townhouse. The fixer Isaac was terrific - he was on-time and careful. He replaced 6 light fixtures, 1 faucet, door knobs, attached hardware - all neatly and skillfully. I'll have to have him back for some heavy picture hanging and drywall repair - the all-around skill level is great.
I appreciate Torch who came by. (I now understand that the hour cited is the window for arrival, not the window when the job will be done). Nice guy, had the tools, got the job done.

We needed an exhaust fan in the bathroom to be changed. It took a while and couple of fixers but it was done. It was done correctly and the customer service was amazing. I think they are a new business that is still working out through the kinks, so I'm giving it 5 stars for trying.
Also i had two other projects at the time (a plumbing job and a handyman job) and my fixer fixed it very easily. I would definitely give them my business again.

I needed help with a leaky connection to my laundry machine. Fixer was more responsive than big plumbers and probably half the cost. My Fixer Nick was able to complete the work in less than the minimum hour and asked if there was anything I needed help with. I DIY as many electrical repairs as I can. I asked if he could figure out how to fix a mis-wired 3 way light switch so I could fix it. Turns out it was more complicated than I expected so he just did the work right there.
I love having a single point of contact to help with the aspects of projects that I don't feel comfortable doing myself. I like their business model, as a B Corp that values their employees. The most important endorsement comes from my dog, who really liked Nick and was sorry to see him leave.
Fixer is relatively new to Seattle, so don't worry that there are fewer reviews than for some big companies.
An old kitchen faucet leak warped the board below the sink, so I called fixer to help remove and replace it. Fixer was easy to schedule, and Roman was quick, friendly, and safe. I'd recommend Roman and fixer to others.
Unreliable and inefficient. I used them once and they didn't an decent job but didn't finish all of the tasks (their time estimate was 100% off). When the second visit was scheduled to finish the work, they didn't show. When I inquired, I got a response about running late. Then 20 min later (3 hours after the appointment time), they send me a robo text to say that the fixer isn't coming at all. They only offered me a $15 credit and put me in a huge crunch, since it's Friday and I have tenants moving in on Sunday.

I have five heavy curtains and asked Fixer helps to help installation. It is very tricky because the default supporting hanger comes with rod will not work. Fixer came some out of box thinking and instruct me to order heavy duty one plus the special anchor that eventually holds the curtain quite well.
I hired Fixer to fix a troubled toilet. Kei from Fixer arrived on time and did a great job. He diagnosed the problem immediately and repaired the issue. I'm definitely using Fixer again, and I highly recommend them.

I required extensive repairs that three needed 3 visits by 3 different fixers. Two were awesome and set the bar really high, which the third could not meet. The fixers are really knowledgeable and offer the right advice. No complaints there. However, one of the jobs that is still incomplete was left in worse state than original, therefore, the minus 1 star.

Had a 1 hr service, they fixed up and did the job in 45 min and didn't even charge for the full hour. Friendly folks, also answered all the questions we had as new home buyers!
I scheduled a Fixer appointment over a week in advance and got consistent reminders to meet my Fixer between 2 and 3pm. I showed up promptly at 2pm after moving around some work meetings. At 2:20pm I got a text from Fixer that they were canceling the job due to unforeseen issues.
I messaged support and they said there were capacity issues and they couldn't come out until 5 days later. I asked what I can do to make sure this doesn't happen again and was told they would add capacity - but I don't understand why they didn't add capacity 10 days ago when I scheduled this one if that was the issue.
Very unsatisfied and would not recommend.

Fixers stood up to their name and fixed the issue. However I felt the work could have been done faster than it happened. But I'm glad the work was done to my satisfaction. I'll not only recommend but also try to use fixers help in future.
Needed a few things done around the house and Fixer easily handled it in a timely manner. I will definitely use them again
Very frustrated with Fixer. My partner booked an appointment for a Friday where the handyperson would show up between 4-5pm. The day finally arrives and 5pm comes and goes with no update and no handyperson. At 5:36pm my partner texts Fixer to ask where the handyperson is and then Fixer says the handyperson couldn't make it. Only because my partner asked did they say the appointment was cancelled. It did not feel like they had any intention of being up front about the cancellation. Very unprofessional and a waste of our time. They offered a discount on a replacement booking, but we're not sure If the same thing wouldn't happen again so we're looking elsewhere.
Very convenient service! From scheduling to quality of work, it was a great experience! Our fixer was friendly, professional, and efficient. Highly recommend.
They fixed our power box switches for fridge and microwave and were very nice and got the job done. They had to go on a shopping trip into get the parts in between. A suggestion for the Fixer platform would be to add an option where the customer can track their fixer during this process through something like phone GPS so there's a better idea of how long things are taking at the store bc that's a long period of waiting with not knowing how much more is going to be charged since you can't see what they're doing.

This is a great company. Lots of capacity and easy booking and payment online or app. It's like clicking a button for a handyman and they arrive in an hour.
We called Fixer for a fix we'd had on our to-do list forever (broken bathroom exhaust fan) - they let us schedule an exact time, and our fixers showed up exactly on time. They were polite and professional (even when I was trying to get dinner done with a toddler underfoot, so wasn't exactly a great host), and the job got done well and quickly.
Only possible complaint is that the pricing is definitely premium at about $150/hr after tip here in Seattle - so not something that's gonna save you money. Still, service was great and something that hadn't gotten done for months got done in an hour while I did something else - we had a good enough experience that were seriously considering a subscription.
Responsive and friendly. 10 min consultation that resulted in a mutual decision not to proceed with the work which I was not charged for.

The project is to replace a dripping faucet. On the morning of appointment, i got a message saying that the fixer is not comfortable with the task. They could find a replacement in an hour or so. The technician is on time and is nice and friendly. the problem is he does not have plumbing tools to resize the faucet to fit it. He could fix it by shopping for a repair kit. Overall the dripping problem was solved. the faucet replacement would have costed little more but would have been a long term solution for me.

Highly recommended. Fast, reliable, friendly, quickly available, and reasonable. We had a quick electrical job and they came pretty much right away to fix it. They we're very polite and did not disturb while we worked from home. We will be calling them again for our home projects.

Fixer responded to my request for bid through Yelp. They were so easy to work with, and were able to come to my property and fix my broken outlet the same day. The price was better than other bidders and I really appreciate how easy it was to work with them.
Fixer is a fantastic service. They provide the ease of scheduling professionals. You always feel comfortable that the people they send in are vetted and knowledgable. Every Fixer that has come into my home (been using the service for over 2 years) has treated my place with respect, worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned up. We've had windows fixed, doors re-framed, leaks stopped, blinds installed, outdoor boards replaced and so much more. They are a wonderful company and you always know you will get quality work with no surprise pricing.
I love this service! I had Fixer come do a couple of projects while I was getting ready to move and the service was so good. You are able to schedule appointments on a dime, everyone is very professional, and the work was done really well. Will 100% use them again.

Fixer is awesome! We hired Jacob and Sherrie to help us out and they were able to fix our issue in half the time. The scheduling (and rescheduling I needed to do) was responsive and easy with Concierge, and the fixers came right on time. And they are friendly people! Will totally hire them again, thank you!

Fixer is a life saver! It's a long overdue, brilliant idea! It's super easy to make an appointment, all the Fixers are professional and knowledgable, and reasonably priced. Not sure how I got things done around the house before!
We lost power on the front shed, which seemed to also had affected the motion sensor lights. After briefly explaining the situation to Jacob, he quickly estimated that the task would take him 45-60 min. He fixed the shed issue and diagnosed that the lights needs to be replaced in less than 50 min. Then he went to get a replacement for the lights and installed them. All that in less than that 2h. He was very fast and effective.
I had fixer come 2 x to my 1922 home- first to fix wooden gates on the property and to install locks on 2 old doors that did not close properly- Jason was thorough, communication was excellent and appreciated that he tidied up! Thumbs up!
My outlets stopped working in my 1906 house. We scheduled an appt and then they said they were unable to make it. They were nice enough to re-schedule for me and provide a discount for the inconvenience. They provided pictures of the work - but would have liked to see an itemized list of what was actually done. I like they responded quickly and fit me in. The outlets work now and will probably use them again.

We needed someone to take a look at a few things in our house and give us an assessment. The fixer helped us understand next steps for several issues plus re-affixed some hardware to our drywall and patched some holes.

My fixer Jacob did a great job hanging shelving in my garage. There are lots of handy people in Seattle but I wanted someone who is licensed and insured; the area we hung shelves has water, gas, and electrical. He did a great job, it turned out a lot better than it would have had I installed them myself. Reasonably priced also, I will definitely be using them for future projects!
I'm a big Fixer fan. Every job has been completed fast, well, and with no inconvenience to my schedule. The Fixer expert also diagnosed different problems and was able to handle the unexpected. Friendly and courteous techs. I will used Fixer as often as I can.
