These guys were great. I had a leak on my water line and they were able to locate it and give me advice for getting it resolved.

Answered call and scheduled within 48 hours then received a call they could come earlier. Technician was incredible. Super pleasant, I asked a ton of questions and he was excited to answer them. Clearly loved his job. Found the leak within an hour using a fascinating system.  When I dug the hole the leak was EXACTLY where he thought it was.  Important to know American Leak finds the leak but doesn't fix it.  For the big job to fix it, I was quoted a firm $2800 by a different company.  I was able to do dig the hole with a friend in 3 hours on Saturday morning and fixed the leak in a PVC pipe for under $15. Total repair $400 to American Leak and $15 for the repair.

The City of Monroe notified us of a significant increase in water usage. On the recommendation of a neighboring business, who had had a similar problem, I contacted American Leak Detection (ALD). A telephone call to their office led to a quick and friendly reply. They quickly set up a visit by their technician, who did a thorough search of the building's water lines, for a fixed price, that let to the discovery of a leak under the parking lot outside the building.  We hired a contractor to fix the leak that ALD had identified.

The good thing is that ALD is focused on finding leaks, and they do not have an incentive to prolong and increase the cost of fixing the problem.

I highly recommend them.

These guys are just plain great. I had the hardest time getting anyone else to even return my phone calls and when they did they were so arrogant that I was turned off. Then a contractor friend turned me on to Curtis and the folks at ALD NW. The same day I called Jacob showed up. My appointment time frame was between 2:00-4:00 and at 1:45 Jacob called to say he was 13 minutes out.
He was super professional and very friendly. He jumped right into action and in about 20 minutes had the leak location clearly marked....and it proved he was spot on.
I'm already spreading the word and as an Architect I have a ton of connections.
Use these folks and I almost gaurantee you will not be disappointed.

So yeah- not the funnest thing to happen ever but American Leak Detection was definitely Johnny on the spot and got us rolling on the road to repair and water again quickly.

A few weeks ago the city sent out a guy checking water meters. He knocked on our door and notified us that we had a small to moderate leak in our system somewhere. He further explained that we were losing 26 gallons of water per hour?!?! What?!?! That does not sound like just a little leak. Husband and I immediately walked the yard to investigate- no pooling water or obvious signs of a leak beyond the spinning numbers on the meter. Great.

We called our insurance company and they put us in touch with American Leak Detection. They were professional and fast acting from the start - already a good sign. Local office just on the Eastside in Bellevue so they were able to respond quickly and didn't have to drive far (we found out this is rare in the Seattle area.) They sent out Turner and his partner the next day.

They arrived about 10 minutes early and quickly went to work. This is a well oiled team that communicate well and seem to anticipate each other's thoughts easily. This was essential as the duo walked the yard looking and listening for the wayward water leak.

The process was pretty fascinating to watch. I was wondering how they would find a water leak in the pouring rain, this is the Pacific Northwest after all. We'd already shut the water off so they filled the pipes with air, then waited a few minutes for the rain to settle down. They then walked the yard poking a large 6 ft + pole in the ground. Together with a device and headphones they could hear underground and we're listening for air bubbles.

Once the general leak area was determined (in the lawn) - they spray painted it with the words Leak Area in big blue letters. The area was about 8 - 10 ft in diameter. So not exact but enough to dig. Fast forward a couple of days and hours or digging- we found the water leak in the center of where American Leak Detection marked it. Spot on!

The whole detection appointment was about an hour and half tops from start to finish with cleanup. They came out quickly, were very efficient and did a great job. Bonus points as the guys were especially kind and polite when different neighbors popped by several times to see what the commotion was. Don't get me wrong: if we ever have another water leak issue- I wouldn't hesitate to call American Leak Detection. But all things considered, I hope we never have to talk with them again! Ha!

From their customer service to their technicians, American Leak Detection has exceeded all my expectations! My plumber had referred me to this company after I found out that my water usage had doubled. I spoke to Bobby Sue from their office, and she was very friendly and accommodating as she was able to fit me in for an appointment the same day. Their technicians Turner and Ben were very professional! Not only did they find the leak in my crawl space, but they were educating me during their entire leak detection process which I definitely appreciated.

Even though this is a terrible situation for me, I am so glad to have this company help me find my leak as well educate me along the way. I will definitely be contacting this company again if I have another leak, I just hope that doesn't happen for a long time. Thank you American Leak Detection!!!

Worked through HomeOwners Club, who pointed us to American Leak Detection out of North Bend, WA.

Turner came out with Brent the day after I called them, and found the site of the leak in about 90 minutes. They were professional and courteous.

TIP: The leak was located between our house and the water meter, so our homeowners insurance did not cover cost of repair (which was done by a separate plumbing company). HOWEVER, I did learn (to my surprise) that our insurance company would cover the cost of American Leak Detection's service - even though the leak was found outside. Best of all, American Leak Detection billed the insurance company directly.

After phoning for appointment, service was prompt, professional and efficient. Charlie did an excellent job!

I had a huge water leak between the meter and my house which is about 100 feet. The water department could not locate it and my bill was over $800 higher. They suggested American Leak Detection out of Seattle. I called them, they came out the next day and located the leak within 4 inches. I could not believe how accurate they were. Fantastic service. I highly recommend them.

I'm not one to write reviews, but I am really impressed with this company!  Ben was a true professional, and arrived when he said he would. He found our leak within minutes, and advised us on what we should do next. It's so nice  to know that there are still companies that really care about their customer. Very quick and friendly service; Turner (the technician) was able to find the leak that we had in a few minutes, but he still did the due diligence to check in surrounding areas to see if there was something else.

David came to my rescue to work on detecting a leak in my concrete slab. He discovered a hot water leak on the very spot where it was leaking. My plumber, through David's detection, was able to jack hammer into the slab and find the leak. It was amazing!!!

These guys were just awesome. I had been dealing with a leak for 2.5 months and 30+ different appointments with contractors, and the real issue hadn't been found. Finally our builder called Sean from ALD, and he quickly found the problem. Not only that, but Sean followed thru by giving precise instructions to the plumbers and the builder on his findings, and then he stayed in touch for a few extra weeks while we performed subsequent tests to verify after the source of the leak had been fixed. Sean clearly wanted to ensure that we had a great experience as homeowners dealing with a difficult situation, and he made sure the issue was fixed properly so that we didn't have another problem down the road.

I was referred to this company by a plumber. I called, explained that I have a raw sewage smell throughout my entire house and really needed someone out today. After waiting 2 hours and 15 mins I called again and was told someone was going to call me soon, which they finally did. The guy I spoke to said he would recommend a smoke test and it would be $1500-$1800 - just to find out what the problem might be, not to actually fix it. I said that was insane and he got totally defensive about his pricing and rudely told me I could just call another company and then hung up on me. I did call another company who quoted $825 for the same service and told me to try calling a pest inspector before spending that money.

I see that this company has a lot of good reviews so maybe I just reached the bad apple of the bunch, but it does show that their pricing is way out of line.

We own and operate an irrigation company in Pierce County. These guys are the ONLY leak detectors we refer our customers to. We have used 2 other companies in the past and By Far These guys are great at customer service, fair at pricing (even when they have to return) and we have never had them say they could not find a leak.
Others in past charge for a return trip. Not these guys. They stand by their pricing and their leak detecting.

We had a water leak down below from a master bedroom shower with two shower heads and had Charlie come out.  I thought this was a good idea rather than ripping out a bunch of drywall and just replacing the shower pan.  They were backed up a couple months which was frustrating, but eventually came out.  They sent a report (which was nicely sent as a pdf) and identified two locations for leaks at the door frame and the shower curb and also one of the shower heads.  A plumber resealed both of these and initially thought they had done a good job.  Less than a year later we had another leak in the same location.  I had a plumber rip out the ceiling drywall and then I repeated a static test by letting the water sit for 45 minutes and noticed the leak immediately.  I had the shower pan replaced and found the shower pan wasn't installed correctly (it didn't go high enough) on a remodel that happened before I bought the house.  I had someone take out the door and it's solid tile underneath, so both of their claims were totally useless.  Basically what I learned is that moisture meters, IR cameras, and slick presentation are a bunch of BS and were a total waste of $700 for leak masters and $1000 for plumbers through the ordeal.  It was about $2500 to replace the shower pan and tile, so it was a lot of wasted money and time.  I guess I learned these leak specialists are a total waste of effort you should just pay up and fix it right the first time.

We have been struggling with a leak for a little over a year. We finally decided to pause our independent hunt for the source and hire an expert.

American Leak Detection was the best decision we made. They arrived right on time for our appointment and we're extremely considerate of my home. It was pouring rain outside and they were thoughtful enough to take their shoes off as they came in and out of the house doing their inspection. They even lowered their ladder down my balcony rather then trekking through the house with the wet ladder.

Their inspection was thoughtful and detailed. They took the time and energy to go through their findings with me and describe the issue and fixes with me. As a woman in my 30s who has had many contractors ignore me or speak down to me I felt really confident in the service and the respect they provided me. They were also very fairly priced.

We will hopefully never have to hire them again but if we have another leak they will be the first people I call.

We had a really annoying leak through our upstairs balcony door which ended up causing all sorts of damage. We had to fix it but also wanted to make sure it never happened again. So, we hired American Leak Detection at the direction of our insurance company.

I wasn't sure what to expect with a leak detection specialist/ engineer but I'm sure glad that we hired one. Doug was very educational, he ran all sorts of tests on the house, door and even helped me figure out next steps. Before starting with a contractor or remediation, I would definitely call a leak detection specialist to determine the root cause. It cost us a little bit more but saved us a ton of trouble finding the right contractor and restoration company!

I hope I never have to use Doug again but if I had a leak, I would definitely hire them again to come out and assess the situation. That is the highest compliment I can give.

We had Zak out to our place to investigate related to an insurance claim. He was thorough and very communicative. The team via their phone number was also very responsive and helpful. Should another need arise we will certainly use American Leak Detection.

I hired them to follow a pipe to see if it went to our septic. They were on time and took time to answer my questions.  Their equipment is high tech!

My main water line sprung a leak.  I only knew about it when I got a huge water bill.  I looked  on the web and found American Leak Detection and called.  They were  able to make an appointment the next day.  Brandon arrived on time and within 15 minutes he had detected where my water line leak was.  He pin pointed the spot and I started digging.  Although it  was 4 1/2 feet down, he was right on.  I was extremely happy with the service I received from American Leak Detection.  If they had not been able to detect the location of the water line leak, I would have had to take up a paver patio in order to determine where the water was coming from..  This saved me thousands of dollars to replace the pavers.  If there ever is another leak I will definitely call American Leak Detection.

We had a leak in the water line going into the house. We were out of state and our neighbor gave us the reco for ALD. They were very courteous and helpful-coming out ASAP and worked with our neighbor to locate the leak so a plumber could come out. The plumber had some difficulty since the pipe was located very deeply in the ground. He called ALD and they came out again ( no charge!) to assist the plumber.
This is a great company with very good people. I would highly recommend them.

This company is fantastic! Sean came out to our home and helped us detect a leak we had no idea where it was coming from. His knowledge and many years of experience really made a difference in figuring out our issue.  It ended up easily resolvable without tearing into our home to figure it out.  I can't thank him enough for his professionalism and expertise.  It was invaluable.  I would highly recommend this company before you go through years of expense and heartache of trying to figure out your problem.  They are an international company that knows what they're doing.  I'm so glad I found them through a wonderful reference that had used them in the past.

I had a leak in my pool plumbing. They came out and were able to locate where they thought the leak was and marked the concrete with blue tape and said the leak is inside this box.

I had the pool repair company come and saw through the concrete and dig down to the plumbing and they found the leak within the box that American Lead Detection marked.

American Leak Detection made what I thought was a very intimidating process (having a leak repaired in concrete without being able to see it) very easy.

The City of Kirkland called on Monday, asking us why our bill was so high (over $2000). We had no idea as we are billed every 2nd month. I've used American Leak Detection in the past for rentals so called them first. Turner came out within one day of the call, and after some conversation between us with wet gardens on my NEIGHBOR's side of our dual garden, and none on mine, gave him a great place to start. After turning off our water htr, and all the toilet and sink outlets, he dug his microphone into the earth along a 6-8 foot stretch. He found  it within 15 mins. spray painted it with a big X, and told us to call the city for location of utilities before digging started. They came the same day..........that has NEVER happened before.
Tomorrow the plumber crew is coming, so hopefully we will have water again on Day 4 of living with water jugs everywhere!!

We found out we had a water leak when we went to pay our water bill. It was about $200 over the average we pay. Living in Westport Wa it is difficult to get anyone out here for repairs. After making numerous calls to plumbers and people who clean up water damage (plumber referred us to them). We finally were told about American Leak Detection. Who knew they existed? The plumber finally called back and said he would not come out till we knew exactly where the outside leak was. We called American Leak in North Bend WA, Ryan called back and said sure we to Westport. Yahoo we thought we won the lottery. David came out the next week, found the leak in less than an hour. We still think we won the lottery when he was done. Now if this happens again or if I know anyone who needs someone I'll tell them American Leak Detection NW. Thank you so much!!! We had a leak from our heating system in a wall. Curtis called and walked me through how to search for the leak on my own before our scheduled appointment the next day. He did such a good job helping me, I ended up cancelling my appointment.  He still called back to say that he was glad he could help.  Amazingly friendly and responsive service.

We had been notified by the water district of high usage. Went over entire property, checking faucets and checked the toilets. Could not find the leak. Called American Leak Detection because I had used them before in California and was satisfied. They had to come out 2 times because we had several main water lines to check. I was not sure of where they kept checking because we had not done any construction in that area or dug up any trees or plants, etc. They said it was in the garage under the concrete.

Well after getting a concrete company to cut a 4'x4' area and dig 3' down we found the leak exactly where they said it would be. Thank goodness. That pipe had been installed 40 years ago and apparently had been nicked when installed and just now failed. I would have bet anything that would been the last place to find the leak!

I have used American Leak three times to find water line leaks.  They are professional and fast.  It is very expensive, but I don't know how else I could do it.

Incredibly impressed! The young team that came to our home came 2 hours after being called. The price quoted was the price I payed.  It was less than half of what another company had quoted.  They found the leak in less than 10 minutes and were kind and respectful.

We were very pleased with the service we received from American Leak Detection. We called after receiving an extremely high water bill. They came out within one day of the call, were able to locate the leak and were nice to work with. We would definitely use them again.

As much as I dislike leaks, it's been a pleasure working with American Leak Detection of the three issues I had this past year. We bought an older house that was remodeled badly and had several issues. The tech was patient, courteous and respectful. I appreciated the methodical approach they used to isolate the leak and I was fortunate enough to get the same tech for each of my three services calls. Highly recommend and would use a fourth time if I had to.

Brandon was excellent at his job.  Typical story - water bill very high, narrowed leak to between meter and house shutoff valve.  It wasn't a fast leak, so Brandon had to be patient, use forced air -- and eventually found the spot of the leak.

We still have to have that fixed...and so I'm 90+ percent happy that I know where the leak is.  I'll be happier when we dig, find it's truly there, and fix it!  Thanks Brandon for your help.

UPDATE:  I'm now 100% happy.  We dug 36-40 at the exact point that Brandon identified as the leak spot, and sure enough, that's exactly where it was.  We're fixed, and up and running - thanks to his persistence.

Hired these guys to detect a leak in my water line. When I scheduled with the shop I told them that I would like to be seen earlier in the day and they said that my appointment window would be between 1-3 but that the technicians would arrive by 1 to 1 30. They showed up at 3:50, 50 minutes after their window had expired. Annoying but whatever. They found the leak and the technician basically assured me there was one single leak and to patch the line instead of replacing it. I did that at the cost of 1000 to a plumber but when the patch was completed we found more leaks in the line. So I had to spend another 3500 replacing the line. Basically I relied on the professionals opinion and it cost me an additional 1000 dollars, I also got another job done by them afterwards at another property and because of all of this I asked for a discount and was told that it just wouldn't be possible. These guys were late, gave me poor advice that cost me a lot more in the long run and didn't feel bad about it at all. When leaving a message with their office it took about two weeks to have them get back to me. The communication in this company is pretty poor

I had American Leak Dectection at my property twice to determine where my water was leaking. We have a very long driveway that is highly wooded. They were able to quickly walk the water line and determine where the leaks were. Both of the workers were very friendly and courteous! They marked the spot and when I dug it up it was marked perfectly for the leak.

American Leak Detection was very personable over the phone and was available to schedule a next day appointment to check for a water leak at my rental property.  The leak was somewhere from the city meter to the house, approximately 40 feet in length. It was detected and they marked the area for the plumber to find and fix. Great small town feel company.  They are friendly and understanding of your particular situation.  Would highly recommend!  Thanks!

When your ceiling is leaking and it's raining outside in Seattle you need help. I called this company and spoke to a receptionist who told me to call my insurance company first before scheduling with there company and then to call her back and she would schedule the appointment for me asap. I told her how urgent it was she never told me they were booked out for two weeks at that call, she made me think I could hire this company to help me in my crisis. Once I had my claim # I called back and no one returned any of my calls on 1/22/19- on 1/23/19 I finally reached the same receptionist at 11:55 a.m. and she said sorry ma'am we are booked out for two weeks. Why didn't she tell me that yesterday? When I asked her that, why didn't you tell me yesterday that you were booked out and we wouldn't be able to come out to your home for two weeks, her response was: It never came up in our conversation? Really my roof is leaking, you don't think that is an urgent issue?  Now I am two days into this crisis with a leaking roof damaging the property and no one set up to come out and look at and access my damage issues. This is horrible that this company would have someone so insensitive working there front desk. Leaks in a home are serious and can be costly. I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANY OF MY CLIENTS OR ANYONE IN AN URGENT SITUATION. Very poor customer service. I hope someone who owns this company reviews this and makes some changes in their staff. In the meantime I am losing two days of work just trying to find a company to access the damage.

American Leak Detection is professional, knowledgable and fair.  I phoned on a Friday and help was on the was Saturday morning.  Brandon quickly located the leak and marked the spot.  Because he was able to pinpoint the spot, there was no excessive diggingor guesswork.

In business since 1991.  Company was recommended by my insurance carrier after I filed a claim for water damage.  The personnel are very responsive - especially given the leak problem - as well as professional and knowledgeable.

First individual came out and ruled out any plumbing leak issues and was followed by a second individual (who was scheduled through the next 3 weeks) only 2 days later when a schedule change provided the opportunity) and who then spent 2-3 hours on the metal roof until he was certain that he identified the two separate leaks causing the problem.

They made a very stressful situation of having a leak in our main water line as easy as possible. They were able to get us an appointment very quickly, even though we are located very far away. Their employee David who came to our home was very professional and kind and took his time to explain everything to me, which was very appreciated as we are new homeowners. It was definitely worth using a leak detection company as we found out our water line is about 4 feet down, so digging the entire line up would have been a challenge. Worth the money for sure, will be sure to  use them again if need and strongly recommend them if you need this service.

American Leak Detection tested my in ground pool for leaks and found the leak was not in the pool but in one of the pipes outside the pool. The guy who came to my house was very professional and polite did a very thorough inspection and answered all my questions. He did have to come back a second time to pinpoint exactly where the leak was because the pipes were about five feet under ground but was here the next morning once we called him. I highly recommend this company.

We had the main water line leak and were without water to our home.  I Need A Plumber Now (Also a 5 star company) came out right away and after some digging decided it would be cheaper to have a leak locator instead of paying them by the hour to keep digging.  Water travels in mysterious ways underground.  Brandon arrive just a few hours after I called, located the leak to within 6, and viola!  Less than 24 hours later we were back in business.  I strongly recommend you contact American Leak Detection any time you have a pending underground disaster!

American came out and detected 2 leaks connected to an in-ground swimming pool. They were efficient and appeared to be knowledge.

American Leak Detection is one of the most professional and trustworthy companies in our area. As a long time realtor, I have known of their stellar reputation for years, and recently having used them again, I can say, the service and knowledge is unsurpassed.  Curt was beyond helpful with trouble shooting my radiant heat pipes (in concrete) and he provided information that numerous and major heating contractors had not suggested.  I will always recommend this company and have never had a better experience.

The worst experience!  On my property I have a separate entrance and exit and a striped parking lot.  The technician, David, arrived 15 minutes late and parked in front of the entrance to the parking lot which prevented anyone arriving from parking.  I asked him if he could please park over there which was one of the parking stalls.  He then says, Why, am I parked over the leak?'  Ridiculous question: 1) If I knew where the leak was he would not be at my house to begin with, 2) He should just promptly move his vehicle than argue with me.  It is simple common sense that you don't park in front of entrances or stand in doorways - you block the flow of traffic.  David continued to be a smart-ass and asked, Why, is someone about to arrive?  What if I park in the stall and the leak is over there?  If I park on the street wouldn't I be taking up someone's space?  I'll just be twenty minutes.  Rather than simply move his vehicle he just simply harassed me about my request.  Told him to leave.

Then called the office to report the situation and the lady responded, I don't understand what you want me to do about it.
