I wish I could give them a minus star!

I called Reliant Plumbing regarding a problem with our two heaters that were less than 2 years old.  There was a rotten egg water smell coming from the faucets when the water heaters were not used for a few days.  The representative that came out to check the problem advised that I needed to change the controls on each water heater because the builder used the cheapest type of controls.  He also suggested that I go to a waterless heater.  He never mentioned that there could be another problem...the anode rods in the water heater could be the problem.  The quote to replace the Water heaters or purchase a waterless heater was between $6700-7000. dollars.  The next day I called a different plumbing explaining my problem and even, the receptionist said, it sounds like the anode rods need to be replaced.  AND, that was the problem.  This is a fairly common problem with the rods.  Even the manual to the water heaters talked about it and how to eliminate the smell.  Why the representative of Reliant Plumbing did not mention this and seemed more focus on selling me new heaters is actually very disconcerting and it cost me $89.00 for the visit.  If you call Reliant Plumbing, make sure you follow-up with a second Plumber to confirm what Reliant advises what needs to be done.

Called them in an emergency after reading reviews here, so feel like it's best to post here and warn people not to make the same mistake we did.

We woke up Thanksgiving morning with a wet floor and warped floorboards. We had no idea where the leak was coming from, and knew we needed someone to take a look ASAP.

I called Reliant the next morning who said they could come out that day (Friday). They pushed back our appointment twice, but did end up coming out Saturday afternoon.

After the technician, Timothy, arrived, he immediately charged us their large holiday call fee, which we were told about in advance and were okay with because we were assured a thorough diagnosis. The problem was- he didn't actually examine anything in our house. No fixtures, no water heaters, nothing. Didn't step foot inside a bathroom. I know sometimes people exaggerate on these reviews, but I promise you folks: he actually looked at nothing, did no examination of any sort of any of our plumbing equipment. Baffling, He sort of looked at the floor, told us it was a slab leak, gave us a quote for 11k (their standard flat rate to find the source and repair a slab leak), and left. All within 15 minutes.

Spoiler alert: Timothy completely misdiagnosed our issue. Our regular plumber was able to make it out Monday, and after doing a thorough examination, found the source of the leak (our hot water heater). He fixed it the next day for under 500 dollars.

Side note: their management has said they'll refund us the service fee, but doesn't seem in a hurry to actually submit a refund.

TLDR: Reliant misdiagnosed our issue in a bafflingly bad house call where their technician didn't actually look at anything in the house. Had we gone with Reliant, we'd have overpaid by over $10,000 to repair our issue. That's crazy to think about.

I was in a panic mode. The knob on the shower wouldn't turn the water off. I turned the main water line off but then needed to look for a plumber. I called three and all booked out til middle of May! That wasn't going to work. Called Reliant and Chelsea said they could get a plumber out in about 2-4 hr. This was on a day of a hail storm. Dominic got here assessed he didn't have the parts. He and Nick went to Home Depot got the parts in the hail storm. They were able to fix the shower handle and it works great again.  No further stress for me. Now I have a plumbing company. Not sure about the pricing but it needed to be done . Thank you Dominic and Nick.

I really recommend getting multiple quotes before choosing a company. I had two bathroom sinks snaked that took less then 15 minutes combined and I was charged $600! I was charged $300 for each sink.

After I called around because I was so shocked and realized I was scammed from this company. Lesson learned on my part.

Justin and Luis did a great job.  They were prompt, even early but asked permission before arriving prior to the scheduled time.  They did a great job on the repair. Justin was clear about another issue my system has, even though it can't easily be solved. Overall this team communicated well, did a great job, and cleaned up after.  Would recommend.

Monday morning I was trying to get a Saddle Valve to seal closed and was not having any luck.  We needed to call a Plumber and we were successful in getting Reliant to come to the house in less than 2 hours, we were really happy with their responsivness.  Ray came and was very nice and curtious.  He replaced about 24 of 1 1/2 copper pipe and used two copper unions.  The entire job took about 40 min. from start to finish.  The cost, $649.50 OUCH!!

We were told it was due to the increase in the cost of materials.  I priced a 5' 1 1/2 L-type on Ferguson's Web site and it was listed for $77, as I said, they only needed about 2'.  Even if I am genreous, and allow them $100 for the materials, $549 for 40 min. of labor, come on.  I called the main office the same day and was told by Ava that she would call me back later in the day after she could speak to a different Manager.  No call back.  So,  I tried again the next day, was told they would take my message and call me back.  No call back.

Very frustrating!!  I do NOT recommend this company unless you have no other choice.

I will start by saying this was one of the worst service experiences I have had with any business in any industry. Here's what happened:

My toilet was suddenly not flushing well this week. After clearing a few separate clogs with a plunger, I decided there must be a blockage and called Reliant to check it out. They scheduled service the very next day and a tech arrived on time. After running a camera through the sink (not the toilet), the tech informed me that I have valleys in the pipes running under my foundation. He explained these valleys cause standing water that disrupt the proper functioning of the plumbing system, and concluded that this was the most likely root cause of my flushing issue.

When I asked if he should also check the toilet before recommending that I let Reliant dig under my house to address the valleys, he briefly acknowledged that I could have him snake ($500) or pull the toilet ($1,200) before explaining that if I didn't address the valleys quickly, the problem would get worse and end up costing me much more.

When I asked if he could run the camera through the toilet instead of the sink to determine if snaking or pulling the toilet was necessary, he said the camera could not negotiate the sharp turns inside the toilet drain. He also discouraged the snake option because it's not guaranteed to clear a blockage if there is one. At this point, I decided I was going to either investigate the problem further myself or call another plumber for a second opinion. (My plumbing system has had absolutely no issues in the 6 years that I've lived here and it seemed like something more acute than sagging pipes was probably at play). The tech said that was certainly an option, but insisted he write up a formal estimate before leaving. I agreed, assuming he would quote the snake and toilet removal options. Instead, he provided me an estimate to correct the valleys in the pipes. THE QUOTE WAS FOR $73K!

After he left, I pulled the toilet myself and found a pair of my son's eyeglasses lodged in the bottom. I bought a new wax ring from Home Depot ($10) and re-installed the toilet. It now works perfectly. Altogether, the repair cost me $10 and 2 hours of my time, including the trip to Home Depot. I'm certain Reliant could have done it in even less time.

I don't doubt that I have valleys in my pipes. And at some point, I may need to address them. However, I think it's absurd that the tech would choose to focus entirely on a $73K solution without exhausting all other possibilities first. I would never trust this company to diagnose another plumbing issue and I strongly advise you to do the same.

The freeze had nothing to do with the delays on the project.  It was supposed to be done before the freeze as a proactive measure. A couple of no shows delayed the project initially.  It ended up taking approx 6 weeks to do the work, mainly because it was not done right the first time and did not pass inspection.
The job was never completed.  They left the water line exposed the last few feet to the house.  I ended up finishing it myself.
New new cut off valve is mostly buried under dirt.  Brand new cut off valve.  I will have to clean that up as well and the water line is exposed to open air at the connection in front of yard, which has me concerned with future freezes.

Reliant Plumbing is not transparent about their pricing. When asked multiple times during the scheduling call, what their pricing is for an exterior tankless water heater flushing, the receptionist refused to respond and kept pushing a $89 fee if service is refused. When Jacob showed up, he quoted us $445 for the service when everywhere else the average is $150-$250. While deciding if we should move forward with the service, they went ahead and got started without approval pushing us into completing the service. I would not recommend this service as the pricing is shady and overpriced forcing you into paying their non transparent costs. Go elsewhere.

whew! I'm so glad I called Reliant. I'm out of town and get a call from a tenant about hearing gas hissing, smelling gas, fire department called. A property managers nightmare (and a tenant's too!)  I saw Reliant Plumbing's emergency number and called. They were so nice! After explaining the situation she promised me she would try to get someone there immediately- and she did! Dillon was right there (he was great about keeping me and the tenant updated for arrival) and was great to work with. I'm very relieved with crisis averted and would totally recommend Reliant to anyone. Thank you- Lynn

This is our second time using Reliant and we likely won't be going back to any other company. A pipe was leaking under our sink, it was so bad we had to shut off water to the whole house! They were able to come out the next day. Logan came out and was able to discern the problem, give us a quote, and fix it all in one day. It wasn't a small job, they had to fix the water pressure regulator. It took seven hours, two people, a trip to the part store and a city permit but they got us back in water by dinner time.

I had water leaking under ground in my bathroom. I called Reliant plumbing because i saw they put in their ad that they do leak detect and i told them that i need some body come to detect  and diagnose the leaking . They said they will do that and charge me $89 for that and will estimate the repair cost, i agreed and they sent the technician to my house . At the very end of the day the technician called me  and said he is on the way, i asked him if it's too late for him to do the work because I believe it will take time to detect the leaks and he said its no problem for him . He showed up at my house and looked at the scene and asked me what happened. After listening to what i told him he showed me the price of $975 for the diagnose , i repeat $975 just for diagnose and he told me if i agree with that he will come back tomorrow to do it because he didn't have the leak detector with him , another word he came with his bare hands , just give me the unreasonable estimate for diagnose then picked up $89 and left . Reliant Plumbing, you are selling your name for $89. I don't think it's worth

I am so deeply upset. A girlfriend was staying at my house when she said the shower and toilet stopped draining. I called Reliant because of their reviews, and when they came out the next day, I was told that they needed to unclog the drain. I received no videos or anything of the snaking the drain despite being told that I would, and a invoice for $470.

After now having a septic service come out and another plumber from Clark Kent to actually clean the drain, it was as if my technician from Reliant never even came and or actually cleaned anything. The new plumber removed a massive chunk of grease from my pipe and ran it back to the super pump, and now I've had to have three different appointments to solve. Certainly would've still needed for special show list for septic to come, but I wouldn't need them to come again or a separate plumber if it had actually been cleaned correctly. Not to mention that both the services were $250 to $350 each, significantly less than the Reliant pricing. I should've just had my friend pay the appointment fee and never gone through with a clog clearing to only be out $400 extra.

Outrageous ripoff-almost $700.00 to replace a kitchen faucet because they refused to find a $3.00 part to repair the existing one!

It would have been cheaper for me to have flown back and fixed it myself.

I called Reliant Plumbing for their leak detection service since our monthly water bill cost was increasing for the past several months.  I was pleasantly surprised that they scheduled one of their technicians for the next day. The technician, David, found the issue with one of our toilets.  He explained how to fix it, and that we would save hundreds of dollars by doing it ourselves.  After a quick trip to Lowes, I replaced the defective parts and the problem is solved.  I also checked the Austin Water website and could see that our water usage decreased significantly and is no longer indicating a leak. David was very nice, professional, and honest. I will not hesitate to call Reliant for any plumbing services in the future.

Reliant Plumbing has 312 reviews at this time and 82 are 1 star. That says a lot! My experience with Reliant;
They came out on a Friday for a toilet leak. They left after ~4 hours & $1,330. The leak was fixed but the stool rocked back and forth by a full inch! I have a video. The first time that someone sat on the stool, their caulk came apart. I called Relient and they scheduled someone to be out on Monday.
The Friday crew checked the clean out and ran a snake/router for clogs and they left the cap off the clean out. I didn't find this out till Sunday when I was taking out our trash. The cap was off a 3 inch pipe all weekend! Something could have crawled into my house.
On Monday, the plumber removes my stool and tells me they need an additional $2,600 to complete the repair. Total is $3,900 but they'll credit the previous payment.
I did not pay for the repairs. The Reliant plumber replaced the stool and left us with a rocking, but not leaking toilet. After he left, I checked the clean out. The cap was on but the plumber left a pair of channel locks.

I have some experience with small business and I understand that all construction trades are in demand in Austin at this time. Probably, Reliant Plumbing grew too fast and must be having trouble getting good employees. Good employees don't leave the caps off the clean-out vents and good plumbers don't leave tools at the job site.

For me, I'm going with a smaller plumbing firm and ALWAYS check Yelp.
Reliant Plumbing has 312 reviews at this time and 82 are 1 star.

We are selling our house and the buyers requested one bathtub be snaked. When my husband called Reliant, they said it was a $150 charge to come out and take a look, and that that amount would be applied to the job. When he asked how much the job would be they said something like, well it's just a drain snake... Implying that it would not be much. When the technician came out, he informed my husband that the job would be $450. So at that point the choice was eat the deposit and start over or just suck it up. We have bought and sold and renovated many homes and found that pricing to be obscene for 45 minutes worth of work. It just felt like they had us over a barrel. Not a fan of this business approach and will not use or recommend.

Reliant PlumbingTx thank you for showing my family and now friends your true color. My wife tried every company in central Texas to fix the water leaks after the February Winter storm. Not only did your company try to charge a fee just to come out and provide a quote, but Reliant wanted to charge more than the price of a new tankless water heater for a $9 pvc elbow that required no tools to replace. Oh and by the way, I was deployed at the time and Facetimeed the technician who wanted to rip us off with my wife's assistance. Thanks to Ferguson Plumbing for ordering the part for me. I ordered 3 at $9 a pop and received the parts the next day. Love the support your company provides to Central Texas Reliant Plumbing of Texas.

****Update******

I think you are missing the point. The quote that was provided was very generic and didn't even list the problem. The part was $9 and took all over 5 minutes to repair with no required tools. Simply a hand and fingers. You can continue to hire these employees that take advantage of residents in the central Texas area but I will never use your service or recommend your service. I hope others read this review and realize how much your company takes advantage of people in need.

Avoid reliant plumbing at all cost. I had a simple toilet install and they wanted $1,250 which is more then the cost of the toilet. I would usually install myself but I didn't want to void the warrenty. They wanted to charge a $40 service fee but we're willing to waive the fee for a positive comment. I rather pay then support a scam. You've been warned!

Per usual, our water heater went bad on Saturday morning. Made an appt with reliant on Sunday and they were able to to get out earlier than the 2 pm appt on sunday. I asked Mack (service technician) to check that he could get a propane 50 gal tank in today and he checked and called me back. He and another service technician did a great job of educating us and also installing a new water heater. My husband is petty technical and Mack was patient with both of us. Definitely happy customer.

$125 fee just to drive out to the property. They were supposed to do a plumbing test for a house we're under contract with, but due to a miscommunication with the seller, no one was home. A fee for time and travel expenses is understandable, but this is just absurd.

BEWARE!! They made my tankless water heater issue sound way more complicated than it really was, charged me $500, then did 15 minutes of simple work I could have done myself. $500 for 15 minutes!! He charged me before the work and he and his office couldn't provide an explanation of why it would cost that much, but refused to refund anything. DO NOT USE as they'll rip you off!

Just got charged $483 to run a snake through my master bathroom toilet. The plumber didn't even have to remove the toilet, he just ran the auger. When I brought up how egregious the cost was (not my first time having a toilet snaked) he very professionally gave me all the reasons it cost so much. Still in disbelief I called other plumbers in the area to get a quote for the same work and got a fraction of the cost. If you need a snake run on your toilet call Johnny Rooter Plumbing for an $89 service fee.

Bathroom sinks stopped up.  Called on a Friday afternoon and got an appointment for the next day (Sat)!  Amazing.  Totally transparent.  Great communication prior to appointment with emails and text messages. Even called on Sat am to offer earlier appt if I wanted.  McKinley (plumber) came out and on-time.  Friendly, professional, explained everything.  Was able to unstop the sinks and offered suggestions before he left about maintenance.  We now have a go-to plumbing company for our future needs!  Highly, highly recommend these guys.

This Reliant Plumbing is horrible and will take advantage of you.

I never write reviews, but this company has so fired up. We had a shower that wouldn't turn off because the cartridge needed to be replaced. They charged $450 to replace it and it took 10 minutes for the plumber to complete the job. The part costs $50 at Lowes and when I asked for a price break down on what the other $400 was for, they couldn't provide it too me.

When quoted a $450 job, you assume that it would be labor intensive than a 10 minute task. We called a complain to the manager and it sounded like he received these phone calls all the time. He didn't care. They have no problem ripping off consumers.

After this ordeal we did call around and asked for estimates from other companies. The price ranged from $150 to $250.

Avoid this company.

Ask this company to replace two O-ring wax gaskets on two Newly purchased and completely built toilets working in good standing and they were already installed toilets working fine but the wax seals were failing slightly and water was seeping under the base onto the tile floor.  And by the way that would seem simple as other companies quoted a staggering $100 an hour and estimating 2 hours plus parts over the phone. I thought that seems reasonable over the phone. But I needed a real quote in person. Reliant wanted $90 just to show up then a quote would be revealed? Wouldn't tell me a hourly rate?

Well guess what they came back with after 5 min walking into home.
I was completely floored! This guy told me $820.00! Say what ? For what was explained as possibly a 1.5 hour visit to lift the 2 brand new toilet off their mounts / replace a 20.00 gasket and re-attached two bolts While empty of water FYI..... His comeback when I asked why so much?
We stand behind or work?  So, only your company stands behind a over charged $800 an hour service call?  I got the F.O. price I guess they didn't want to work on my project that day ?

This is going to be a long review but I think it is important to have all the facts.

I have used Reliant on several jobs over the last couple of years, they have always been reliable and completed the work just fine.  My only issue until now has been price, they are ridiculously overpriced but I was willing to pay for acceptable work.

Recently I move into a new home and needed to have the toilet removed and reinstalled to put in grass cloth wall paper.  Simple job of in and out however when reinstalling the toilet the plumber scratched my marble tile.  To his credit he did not try to cover it up and said they would take care of getting it fixed which I greatly appreciated!  He gave me the information for the company they use for this sort of thing (clearly this has happened before) and when I didn't get a call about scheduling the repair I looked up the tile repair company (I will not name them because this review is not about the tile repair company)  I will say that when I looked at the reviews for this repair company they had several bad ones along the lines that the owner was rude, aggressive and homophobic.

I am not going to have that sort of small minded hatred in my house so I called my own tile repair company.  They came out and fixed the scratches and then buffed the entire floor.  Voila looks like new again!

Reliant did call me several weeks after to attempt to make resolution and when I sent them the invoice for the $700 I paid to have my floor repaired they finally called me back to tell me they would only be paying half of that.  Then because I refused to pay my final invoice when the incident first occurred because of the damage they decided they were deducting that and my credit for their damage of scratching my brand new marble tile floor was around $100.

Again to their credit they did call my tile company to research but they misunderstood the work that took place and when I offered to get more information they refused and said the $100 would be all the money I would be getting back from their damage.  My repair company buffed out the scratches and then to make it all look the same buffed the entire floor.  You don't just buff a 12 x 12 section and leave the rest of the floor un buffed.  That would be like waxing your car and only buffing one section out and leaving the rest of the car with a wax film, you've got to buff the entire car just like my floor.

I felt like they were looking for an excuse to say they tried but then just couldn't live up to doing the right thing.  I mean even if they had offered to split the cost with me would have been fair but to tell me I paid $700 to fix something they broke and offer me $100 is insulting.

Just my personal experience
If they get it right it will be expensive and you'll be fine
If they don't it will be expensive and you'll end up here like me

Customer Service Tip:  Things will happen but when they do ask...
what went wrong
what should have happened
what can we do to fix it

I will call this plumbing review part one.
I have waited well over a month to post this review, you will see why a little further along.
Mid March my toilets and shower started backing up. I'm a DIY kinda gal so I rented a plumbing snake from a local rental place, pulled my toilet (we haven't known where our clean out plug is since we moved in 15 years ago) and tried to unclog the issue. No success. Figured the neighbors would appreciate us not peeing in the backyard so I looked around for a plumber on a Saturday and made a few calls. These guys called me back and we set something up for that afternoon.  It is important to note here that my neighborhood is all in septic.

In an effort not to make this a six page review, here are the highlights:
-The technicians arrived on time

-They told me it would be 490 bucks to unclog using the snake and if they couldn't unclog it with the snake they would need to use the wet jet which was over a thousand bucks!

-There would be no guarantee (warranty)

-After about an hour they unclogged the drains, hesitated to tell me that my lines were clear and that I might need the more expensive water jet if this didn't work.

-They put their camera in the pipe inside my septic pump tank (last tank of the system that pumps the grey water to my septic field), and said I might have a 'belly' in my line.

So I paid them almost $500 bucks and went about my weekend. About five days later I noticed my toilets and drains were sluggish. Sure enough they started backing up again. This time I called a different plumber with good reviews. They came out and told me it would be $232 to unclog my line but FIRST they needed to see if my tank was full!!! Go figure - my tank was full. The plumber opened the tank and was able to shove some of the solids down so that I could at least use my plumbing til the next day.

Yup, so the next day my tank was emptied and I haven't had issue since. I did contact Reliant to talk to them about this issue. The technician called me back and was extremely defensive. In addition, I wrote a letter to the supervisor. I explained the situation and what I thought would be fair, since I believe they should still be compensated for coming out, was to refund me half the $500. This would have offset the cost of the second plumber and made things right. I heard back a week later from the office manager denying my request.

Bottom line - I believe the technician was inexperienced with septic and should have checked the septic tank levels first.

****Post notes

After hearing back from the owner several points should be made. First, providing a camera at no extra cost is simply untrue. The cost was almost $500 and the technician told me it was part of the service. Second, you cannot see if my tank is full if you do not look at the solid tank. I have clarified in the photo that my tank was unburied by the SECOND plumber not Reliant. Reliant simply looked at my pump tank. Lastly, the technician inserted the camera into my pump tank and told me I had a belly in my line. My pump tank goes to my septic field not my house.
Again, my belief and the second plumbers thoughts were that the snaking Reliant did pushed the solids down enough to give us relief for a few days but ultimately, logically, if my solid tank is full no amount of snaking will solve the problem long term. And if you are an experienced plumber with homes that are on septic, you know this!
Also noted on the INVOICE (see attached pic) is the recommendation of the thousand dollar 'jetter' service to clear out dirty water to see issue. The Reliant technician noted that day that although the clog seemed to be fixed the draining was not what he expected and the water in the line was 'dirty'. Yup, cause the solid tank was FULL.  Sell me another expensive plumbing procedure but never mention the obvious.

The service was fine but they chargef me an amazing $750 to change out a single toilet! I provided the toilet!! I called another large company afterwards and found that the going price was under $400. They will tell you the price before they start but even if you decline their offer, you will still have to pay them for providing a quote. Beware, don't consider these guys without researching prices first!

We had an extremely poor experience with Reliant Plumbing. Max replaced our busted water heaters after the freeze. After a pleasant initial encounter, that evening we noticed strange noises coming from the water heater that we never experienced before with the previous (identical) units. We called Reliant to come back and Max acted as if he was confused as to what the issue was -- even to the point of denying that there was an issue at all. He suggested that the noise was simply due to air in the pipes and that water heater just take time to get used to the house. He did not attempt to call the manufacturer and troubleshoot during the site visit.

After the first visit, the problem worsened and turned into loud groaning noises on a near constant basis 24 hours a day. We called them to come back a second time and Max had the same disbelieving attitude and flippant suggestions, even though we had a video detailing the loud groaning noises that could be heard from our bedroom and were disturbing our sleep (we had to get a white noise machine to drown it out). His attitude towards us and the situation implied that we were a waste of their time and that there could be nothing wrong with their installation job. Again, no effort was made to contact the manufacturer to troubleshoot.

The problem persisted, and we called them back a third time. This time they sent John instead. John tried to convince us that the problem was the way our shower was configured (?!), and that there was nothing they could do to fix it -- even though we had never had the issue with the previous units. He suggested that we spend over $1000 to purchase a remote that would program the water heaters to turn on only a handful of times per day. This was obviously a ridiculous workaround, and when we told him so, he suggested that this must have been how the system worked before. I confirmed with the previous (and only) former owners that this was never the case. Mind you, this is now over a month after the initial install. Overall, it was clear that Reliant Plumbing didn't care about solving the problem that they had created, and just wanted us to go away.

Thankfully, we stopped wasting our time with Reliant. We called Stan's Heating Air and Plumbing who came out and immediately called the manufacturer to troubleshoot. As it turned out, Max installed the water heaters incorrectly to begin with (can't say I was surprised). The previous units had a paired configuration and Max and his associate did not follow the same installation pattern -- there was no communication cable between the two. Stan's had it fixed within 2 business days.

I'm so glad that we got a second opinion. I am regretful that we gave Reliant any of our business at all given how they treat their customers and their ego-driven attitude towards their work. I can't overstate how uninterested they seemed in solving the problem that again, they created. Take your business elsewhere.

Highly recommend working with Davis!  We called Reliant because of a leaky water heater.  We were concerned about taking on a large project because we are moving in a few weeks.  I got a text letting me know Davis was on his way with a picture and a little bio (nice touch!) and he was right on time at the beginning of our scheduled window.  He looked at the water heater, listened to me explain our situation, and outlined our options.  He went through 3 options extensively and gave me his recommendation which was much appreciated.  Davis took the time to listen to my questions and give honest answers.  I did not feel swindled or taken advantage of whatsoever.  In the end, since he just looked at the heater and didn't do any work he waived the base fee.  Thanks Davis!!

The bad reviews this company gets in relation to pricing are legit and I wish I didn't use them for this reason. They are highly overpriced but when you have an emergency and don't know any better I guess shame on me. With a large family, dogs, cats, goats and chickens it never even crossed my mind to not get the water back up as quickly as possible.

I had my pressure relief valve break last week and since they were basically the only company available in our area 24/7 I gave them a call. I had to pay the after hours fee of $150 for them to come out. Once the nice young tech was here, he did his assessment and informed me the price to fix it would be around $1300! I had to ask what the price of the parts were and he informed me about $150. So basically the $150 diagnostic fee would be rolled in to the $1300 which means labor alone would be $1000! I was told they charged per job and not the hour.

Another slap in the face is that after paying for the after hours fee and signing that I will accept the bid I was informed that the parts wouldn't be available until the next day which would have given me more time to find more quotes with reasonable prices.

Another interesting tidbit is that a lot of their 5 star reviews are from reviewers with few than 5 and as little as 1 review. BEWARE these!

DO NOT USE RELIANT UNLESS YOU HATE YOURSELF.

Paid reviews. Temper the value you place in the ratings and reviews posted for this company. Was quoted an extremely high price to replace a 50 gallon gas water heater (quote was over $3K). This is a 2-3 hour job max and there is about $800 in material costs (heater, expansion tank, drain pan, valves, etc)  You can do the math on the labor and profit margin they are putting into their quotes. When I expressed my disbelief in the quote, I was told they would take $100 off if I gave a good rating on google. I declined. I then was advised that the fee for the assessment would be $89 but that could be waived if I were to leave a good review on google. I was told it could be as simple as Mac was good to talk to. I declined as the only truthful review I could give was how obscene the quote was and how shocked I was at the tactics to get reviews. I got the job done the following day for $1K less.

While I appreciate Reliant Plumbing being able to come out within a week (Radiant Plumbings first available was November 18th) for over $400 to replace a fill valve that according to Google costs $8-$30 is a little extreme.  I can't deny I agreed to the price and paid an extra $200 to have a distressed hose replaced to ensure my only bathroom would remain functioning, but it does raise questions about the ethicacy of a company that is collecting AT LEAST $500 in labor for less than an hour of work.  If you have a gmail account and spend under $500 and write a google review you get $25 off... spend over $500 and get $50 off... great deal for gmail users!
